📚 QUEERBOOK 2024 is hereee! We made a book by and for LGBTQ+ youth! 🏳️⚧️🏳️🌈
Last year, we asked LGBTQ+ youth: what's your idea of a "queer utopia?"
Not gonna lie - with more than 150 bills introduced in 35 states in 2023 that aimed to restrict student access to inclusive and diverse books and other library materials, the theme felt pretty radical.
And you DELIVERED. With the help of our Youth Voices (amazing queer youth activists from across the country), we compiled your amazing submissions of poetry, short essays and letters, visual art, photography, and more into Queerbook 2024. Like a yearbook, it captures what queer youth are feeling, going through, and hoping for - right here, right now across the U.S.
It's also no accident that it's the perfect small-ish size to stash in your locker or backpack so you can crack it open any time you're looking for some queer connection. :3
Read some more about the book and grab your own limited-run copy of Queerbook 2024 now here.

my brain: zoro says he doesn't believe in god but he's been luffy's first and most devoted follower since the day they met. he was a wandering bounty hunter with no actual way of achieving his goal until he met luffy, who had nothing to offer but his dreams and a place in his nonexistent pirate crew. and zoro, who had every reason to cut him down, instead let himself be led by nothing but two rubbery hands and a too-big smile. zoro was the first person to ever call luffy "pirate king"; not future king of the pirates, the pirate king, and he did so as he dedicated his first huge defeat to luffy and has been doing the same for every victory that's followed. he's the most quiet in his affections but his loyalty can never ever be questioned because while he's willing to lay his life down for his captain, it's his willingness to live for luffy that shows how much he understands what his captain needs from him. he may call luffy an idiot and complain about having boarded the wrong ship but no one can deny that the boy who went out of his way to ask demand that he join his crew has become zoro's true north.
me, hitting tweet: zoro suck luffy good and hard thru his jorts

It’s finally mermay so you know what that means-
Beakheron pirate au let’s goooooo
Black Heron is the princess of a corrupt monarchy in a seaside kingdom, she hasn’t inherited the crown yet but she’s already cruel and ruthless and would rule with an even more brutal government when she does.
Beakley is a pirate captain who goes around doing piracy while also trying to take down the terrible monarchy- and unbeknownst to anyone but her closest crewmates she is also a siren. She has a few run-ins with the princess and every time they’ve tried to kill each other.
One night Heron ends up nearly drowning in the ocean (not. sure why tho.) only to be saved by a certain siren that happened to be in the area. Beakley doesn’t recognize her until after she’s already ensured she’ll live- much to her chagrin. Herons mostly out of it when she’s rescued and in a very Little Mermaid fashion doesn’t recognize her rescuer, not putting it together at all that it’s her worst enemy.
Beakley later kidnaps Heron for a ransom, and it’s during that prolonged meeting that something of a romance starts 💕👀

male authors, writing m/m friendships: their bond will develop through hundreds of chapters, we will get to see each stage of their budding relationship, they'll constantly be in each other thoughts, their first instinct will always be to reach for the other, their first worry will always be the other's safety, they'll spend every minute of the day together, they'll be complete opposites and yet perfectly compliment each other, they will put everything they ever loved in risk just to keep the other safe, they will give their life without hesitation to save the other's, they will fight and argue and tease and joke around but they will always be at each other's side at the end of the day, they will plan to spend the rest of their lives together, sharing the happy moments and the hard times, the idea of being without the other being unthinkable, the thought of being always together coming naturally, as easy as breathing.
the same male authors, writing m/f romance: she'll like,, smile once at him and he'll start thinking of marrying her and having children with her idk

Ok I’m sorry for the rant but… the Idea of You movie getting good reviews is so— like please can someone chalk it up to the amazing actors and the fact that there are raunchy sex scenes because WHY are we making a film about a middle aged woman’s sexual awakening happening with a guy 16 years younger than her? Like why is that the gotcha of this movie? When men do it they’re nasty and predators and the Leo DiCaprio butt of a joke, but for women it’s “blossoming” and “finally receiving the love they deserve”? I just need a journalist to look at this movie and bffr. Feminism needs to stop being let women do whatever shitty men do because women and men are equal. Because we’re not equal, we’re better.

something i noticed unfortunately:
[script from darksvster]
alicent is mid-late thirties, which obvious discourse means her mom was also probably a childbride when she had her (+ her having an older brother in gwayne helps to reaffirm this).
this was the case for rhaenyra in fire and blood; aemma was *fifteen* when she had rhaenyra and *twenty-three* when she died birthing baelon. rhaenyra was a mother THREE times over (with baby egg on the way) by the time she reached the age her mother ultimately met her fate at.
how am i supposed to mentally cope with this information?

If there's one thing to thank anti hankcon discourse it's for the folks around their thirties gathering to tell the teens that they are, in fact, adult enough to decide for themselves who to fuck with and that they do, in fact, find older people attractive.
(And also collectively asking folks in their teens-to-early 20s to stop using the word p*dophilia when talking about literal 30+ years olds.)
Like really, throwing this words in relation to adults downplays its actual weight in its actual fucking meaning, and this is really scary. Age gap might be a controversial topic but not anywhere near it is a matter of comparable scale to what the word ped*philia stands for. Don't turn this word into a buzzword, I'm begging you.

I’m all for Sydney Sweeney and Glen Powell leaning into the affair rumors, it’s honestly one of the more entertaining things to happen in pop culture in awhile and they continue to deliver long after the movie’s premiered. But as much as Sydney’s ugly old fiancé is God’s strongest solider, you can’t help but wonder how much he can tolerate being the butt of the joke and continuously made to look like a c*ck, now on national television after last night.

Regular Egg meets Mr. Dr. Egg and is super condescending and judgmental of everything including his appearance like "lol what is with this gay ass lightning bolt and star motif bodysuit and dumb goggles and for fucks sake lose the toupee you look ridiculous, boy" and rips it off his head and throws it to the floor and stomps on it and he's like wtf man
Then regular Egg pins him to the wall and he's all big and strong and intimidating so Mr. Dr. gets nervous and blushes and regular Egg says "you should take off this lame bodysuit too smh" as he tuts and unzips it from his neck all the way down past his nuts because it actually has a visible zipper unlike his then realizes it's pretty fucking gay to undress him like that
And with the dumb toupee off and his body with his soft squishy tits and belly exposed he realizes he's not that different to him and looks pretty good and the tension is crazy so they make out about it frustratedly lol
