guys cmon. be ffr please. akemi did Not love taigen. the only reason why she was desperate to search for him to the point of putting herself in danger is because she didn't want to get married to an abusive man (which she believed at the time that takayoshi was). when seki tried to dissuade her from running off, her reason was not "but i love taigen and wanna be with him 🥺" it was because she refused to be controlled and have her autonomy taken from her; she literally says "i won't be locked away in edo married to a stranger." and when seki still tries to argue that getting married to the heir of the shogun would be better than getting caught by brigands, she then says "that kind of man"—referring to takayoshi—"treats women like animals. they say he's a tyrant." and when seki chuckles and says "what man isn't?" her response is "you." she doesn't even talk about taigen. she is using him as much as he was using her. they both see—or, well, saw—each other as means to an end. for taigen he saw that marrying into the tokunobu clan would elevate his status and wealth. for akemi she wanted the right to choose who she married, and she wanted that person to be someone kind. that's it! neither of them loved each other. but since they were courting of course they acted sweet to each other, and they do still care for one another, especially due to their romantic history. but let's be real! akemi is a boss bitch who dropped taigen and forgot all about his ass as soon as she saw takayoshi was a nice guy. because duh? not only is takayoshi a better lover (it's implied their lovemaking lasted a long time) but he's also kinder towards her and presents her with an opportunity to claim power and freedom, which she would not have if she had married taigen, as she would have still been stuck under her father's thumb. so literally why should she settle for taigen's stupid ass! she may be a little naive at times but she's still incredibly intelligent. she would not do something stupid for the sake of "love." you know who would though? taigen.

It's so weird how people think Ada is like this manipulative villainess who use Leon every single time when that's...not even half true?? If anything, that woman has done more good than bad and I feel like some people aren't ready for that conversation.

Ada isn't a villain, but a morally grey character who's more complex than ever because there's very few details about her as a person outside of the femme fatale act she puts on. Hell, till this day, we still don't know what her true motives are, but she ain't trying to destroy the world like every other villain in the franchise.

As far as her relationship with Leon, I think people just likes to stick with her persona in Resident Evil 2 Remake and make it seem like she's trying to manipulate him every single time. Yes, she WAS going to manipulate Leon throughout the game, but she changed her tactics when she recognized that Leon is just a good man trying to do good things for people. Even at the end, Leon TAUNTED Ada to shoot him. Saying stuff like, "Go ahead. Shoot me. I bet you can't do it." Leon probably knew there is some good in Ada and GUESS WHAT? Leon was right. Ada couldn't shoot him. And before she fell to her "death", she told Leon to take care of himself. For all we know, Ada probably wasn't expecting on seeing Leon again after Raccoon City but here we are. Many years later and she STILL actively helps Leon whenever she can.

If there's anyone Ada is manipulating, it's usually the bad guys she "works" with. She gave Wesker a weak/fake sample after the events for Re4 and turned on Simmons when he suggested shit that Ada did not want to do (that man was so obsessed with Ada, he literally created a CLONE just to get what he wanted).

This is getting long, but I need some people to realize that Ada is NOT the evil woman some of y'all want her to be.

my naming scheme for the resurrectionists causes me undue stress a lot of the time but when it works it Works

#edgar mortis is obv edgar allen poe + latin word for death. and his surname plays off the fact that there are four other resurrection men #only identified by their surnames which are pallor livor rigor and algor. rigor mortis should be easy to clock but the rest are all stages #of death as well when you attach -mortis to the end of them. which cements edgar's identity as a resurrection man even when he's farrr too #consumed by morana's world of magic and mystery to be actively working.#morana faust is a slavic death goddess + faust. the most famous necromancer in all of fiction. once again her surname cements her identity #as a necromancer specifically even when she gets swept away by unrelated magical happenings #nine and shi aren't their real names but their identification numbers are 9444999 and 4999444. 9 and 4 are both associated with death and #each of their numbers are the other's but reversed. also nine was a classical composer in life and there's a superstition that classical #composers will not live to write their 9th symphony (he sure as hell didn't lol) so it's fitting that he's the one who ended up with the #nickname. abberline isn't his real name either so he doesn't count. valdís has ancient norse for 'death' (val) + 'dis' (goddess) despite th #name not actually being used for any actual death goddess and her surname toth is likely derived from a medieval german word for death #her name isn't glaringly out of place with the rest of the cast but doesn't immediately let you catch on to her whole deal #which is good bc valdís is meant to sort of blend into the backround of reader's minds until The Reveal.#mara is a minor hindu goddess of death and her surname grave is. well. self explanatory. i tried to give the more non-magical side of londo #more straightforward names to contrast with some of the others and obv her dad was created before her and dr grave seemed like a good name #for someone who only popped up in the story while he was hiring professional grave robbers (now he pawns that task off on mara lol)#ereshkigal kore is just queen of the underworld + queen of the underworld but def has a very grandiose feel which is good bc that's #absolutely the vibes she should be giving off. all her servants' names boil down to figures associated with the greek + mesopotamian #underworlds. mainly attendants of aforementioned goddesses. which fits bc they all serve her #but i'd like to give special consideration to the maid trio here bc they're a set of triplets. and their last name is cerberus.#which famously had 3 heads. and the older two feature a similar naming scheme as persephone + eurydice (they even both end in the same e #sound) but the youngest's name is aisha which means 'living' or 'alive'. and obv her departure from the naming scheme makes her more easily #differentiated from her sisters + more memorable in the long run which is good bc she's the most important maid but it also gives me room t #have a 'my name means alive but she's named for the queen of the underworld so i'm willing to not live up to my name if it means being #closer to her' moment w a shitton of lilies in frame in case it isn't clear to anyone what's going on ('her' means eresh not persephone btw #and then there's dysmas. the patron saint of undertakers. which fits bc catholic. and sanson. as in the executioner. for a character heavil #inspired by the nasuverse's church executioners like kirei and ciel #rosette comes from the rosette nebula which looks like a skull. hayden is from one of my kids at work who said that next time i wrote a #murderer into something i had to name them after her so. here you go hayden. you get to be the cannibalistic child.
