Prompt #3396
"Outcasts? But you're the most powerful hero team alive!"
"Powerful enough that no one else can trust us. Telepathy. Time travel. One touch kill. Radiation. Necromancy." The superhero shrugged. "We can't be allowed in regular society, or so people say. So we stay here, together. And sometimes, on the rarest of occasions, we venture out to save the world."

Since I received a message today asking for some recs, I figured I might as well do a revamp of my big long buddie fic rec list that I did ages ago. There are over 200 fics on this list and I’m adding more even now. Fics are sorted by word count.
Enjoy and please show the authors some love if you read these fics!
Here is an alternate list with links since the length of the post won’t allow them.

Praise is to Allah Who has provided us with food and drink, sufficed us, and gave us an abode, for how many are there without provision and without a home.

The second part of my Cities: Skylines conversions is here! This time I’ve converted some buildings from the Campus expansion, to be specific, the University buildings. I plan to do Trade School and Liberal Arts buildings as well somewhere in the near future.
As well as the buildings, I’ve made some matching wallpapers, a roof, a fence and a floor. I might have gone a little overboard with the wallpapers, but at least now there is a wallpaper for every building occasion!
I’ve managed to lower the polycounts of some of the buildings by deleting some details I didn’t like anyway, but some of them are still high poly so use with caution. ESPECIALLY the School of Law, School of Medicine and School of Science buildings are extremely high poly, but I had finished them already so I’m including them anyway. I’ve put the polycounts in their in-game description as well, for convenience.
Polycounts first preview picture:
University Administration: 9547
University Auditorium: 3310
University Bookstore: 4458
University Cafeteria: 3561
University Chess Club: 3396
University Commencement Office: 3093
University Dormitory: 7570
Polycounts second preview picture:
University Futsal Club: 1596
University Groundskeeping: 1680
University Gymnasium: 2774
University Laboratories: 10918
University Library: 8731
University Math Club: 3432
University Media Lab: 5722
University Study Hall: 7604
Polycounts statues:
University Academic Statue 1: 2957
University Academic Statue 2: 2895

If you liked these, I have converted other Cities: Skylines - Campus buildings here and here and some other Cities: Skylines conversions here.
And then a little information about the walls, roof, fence and floor. This is my first time making most of this stuff, so let me know if I messed up somewhere.
The walls can be found in Brick for §8 and §10.
The floor can be found in Stone for §8.
The fence can be found in Fences for §62.
The roof is found with the other roof colors!

Tumblr media
Sypnosis: a Regular teenager get transported to the world of her obsession in her dreams, but upon arriving there she never could have thought the possibility of it being real and not just in her head. She could never have anticipated what she would feel and discover. why was she here ?
A/n: here i am finally with the official chapter 1. Sorry that it took so long since i posted the pilot. I need to mention i am a fulltime art student so i’m usually busy or too exhausted. When i write i try to make each chapter as vivid as possible so i really have to take my time to use the right words and to decide the pace of the chapter. I really wanna post a high quality story. Once again English is not my first language so my vocabulary is still improving. Let me know you thoughts and any ideas in the comments. I would love to hear them (same goes for feedback) for now i hope you enjoy this first chapter. 😊
ps. if you wanna be tagged for upcoming chapters let me know in the comments ^^
(y/n) Pov
Previously
Meanwhile the girl was still drifting, unaware that she was being watched. Shock settling into her body as she was still accepting and processing what happend to her. All that matters now is staying alive long enough to find the only people she might know, the Omaticaya.
-
It took me only 10 min before i could hear the sounds better, the river water drifting down stone. I sped up my pace now. And soon i reached the river. The water was so clean i could see right through it to the bioluminescent water plants at the bottom. I hastly scooped up water to drink from, the thirst coming back to me now. putting some water on my face i feel a lot less faint but i was still getting tired. Shutting my eyes for a second to blink properly i look at my surroundings again. The small river has a stone wall where the water came from like a small waterfall. Insects are even louder in this area. Always hearing a nice buzzing of some sort of cricked, and occasionally birds. All around me the bioluminescence was bright. Lighting up the entire river area. I started to wonder towards everything. I mostly have questions that i don’t know who to ask. ‘’why am i here ?’’
‘’how am i here ?’’
I didn’t know what to do or if i even have to do anything. The only chance of survival i have is finding a clan, but Omaticaya is the only clan where i know i might talk my way out of getting killed. Watching so many fantasy and action movies can teach you some skills in speaking differently then you do. I can only speak a few words na’vi and that wasn’t enough. Speaking English is the only option. Na’vi are extremely bright, they learn English faster then someone can teach them.
It might be my only option to avoid getting killed by them. They are fiercely protective and loyal to eachother, they don’t trust easily. Especially after what the Sky People did to them and their world. Whether that is still in motion or already passed is another thing i wondered and remember it for the next time i might figure it out.
I decided i am too tired to move right now. But i can’t stay here for too long. ‘’i guess i can just take a little nap right ?’’ i thought to myself. A little away from the water in the shadow of some plants i lay down on the soft moss and close my eyes. Focusing on the sounds around me. I was laying comfortably on the ground on my back. Like the feeling of coming home and dropping into your bed after a long day of work. The backache from stress lessening and disappearing every minute. My thoughts are blank, which surprised me. Most people would be having racing thoughts. Especially about home, in my situation in particular. Do my parents know i’m gone ? or has nothing changed while i’m here ? is there still a possibility this is all a deep comatose sleep ?. I do have these thoughts, but they don’t bother me. It feels like time has stopped moving both here and back home.
After what felt like an hour or longer of laying there, unable to fully fall asleep i decide to move forward. Looking around me to make sure i’m in the clear i slowly let myself sit upright. I feel dizzy. In a way it feels like i’m under the influence of something. Standing up i almost have to sit back down but keep myself grounded looking for anything to hold onto. Getting lightheaded while standing up is not going to help me right now. Walking along following the river i the area cleared a bit with less plants to avoid. The soft moss underground all i felt that ripples with light every step i made. The noises in my ears started to become stronger. it felt like i could hear the noises like ripples in my body, as if music was in the back of my head. I can hear people talking in an undetectable language, children laughing, people singing. it was keeping me on edge. But also grounded to the earth.
After only minutes of walking i felt hopeless already. I was so dizzy my head started to spin, looking at my feet and the ground and taking a deep breath i hope for the spinning to fade away. after looking at the ground for a minute i looked back up and almost stepped back. Right in front of my face was an atokirina. It’s light movements like a small jellyfish or a dandelion seed in the wind. A faint light comes from it as it moves over my shoulder and gets close to my hair. Mesmerished i keep my eyes on it. it didn’t move from my shoulder. Looking up into the sky i was hyptonized by what i saw. Hundreds of atokirina are floating down from the top of the forest . atokirina are signs for the na’vi. A pure spirit to give them a message or quide their path.
I was paralyzed in my movement, i didn’t dare take another step. Reaching out the atokirina softly floated down to cover my hands and arms. More of them placing themselves on my chest and my head, softly tickling my skin. I look behind me to the other sprites floating behind me. They connected to my shoulder and my back mimicking a cape in the motion of a wave. The sounds i hear become stronger and stronger. the voices overwhelm my senses. The sounds of nature mixing and harmonizing with them. My sight was starting to become blurry. I try to blink to focus but it didn’t help, it only made it worse. My mind keeps spinning and spinning. I can’t stand without having to balance my weight. i feel so tired i stopped fighting and let it overwhelm me. In less then a second i can feel my eyes roll back into my head and falling back to the ground. But before i feel the impact everything goes black.
Third POV
This could mean only one thing, a sky demon invading into their land. No matter how outnumbered the demon was it was still a cause of concern in the mind of the na’vi hunter. As quiet as he could go he ran to his ikran in a hurry, making Tsaheylu and flying back to the village. He knew where the sky demon was headed and he wasn’t far from the village, if he was fast enough he could warn the other warriors and the Olo'eyktan about this and they would be back before she drifted to far from this part of the forest.
The Hunter was able to reach the village in a mere 10 minutes of flying. Landing his Ikran upon the branches of a tree, many more trees around it connected by long green vines serving as a pathway between the tents and little homes build around him. As he got off his ikran he could hear the gentle singing of people and drums playing music a little down below, where many of the omaticaya where eating communally around a big bonfire. Climbing down from the tree to one of the lower and larger tents he looks for his fellow hunters and the Olo'eyktan. People greet him and he greets them back without betraying the the urge and panic he feels. As he approached the leader he crouches down next to him greeting him formally.
“oel ngati kameie Jake Sully. I need a word with the Olo'eyktan, it’s urgent.’’
Jakes eyes widened in alarm for a split second before composing his face. It wasn’t often one of the hunters or clan people had an emergency or something urgent to tell him. After spending years with his people as their clan leader he learned about their behaviour and was better able to read their emotions and was able to make opinions about the situations going on around them. The look on the hunters face gives jake a sense of worry. Which didn’t happen often.
the na’vi was feeling a mixture of shock, fear and anger under the surface of a calm face. But Jake could see right through him, he knew better. His body language was stiff and panicked. Jake conteplated what had the hunter in such a state and he needed to know more immidiatly. Jake stood up passing one look to his mate who sat a little further away with the tsahik.
‘’come with me’’  he said as he walked a little further tot he side of the large tent so they could speak in whispers.
‘’speak calmly, what is wrong ? the look on your face troubles me’’
‘’while out hunting i saw something that shouldn’t be possible. I saw a dreamwalker, a sky demon’’
Jake was immidiatly alarmed. the skypeople are back ? since when. How can this have happend without his knowledge.
‘’a dreamwalker ?, are you sure about this. Did you recognise the avatar ? are you sure it wasn’t one of the scientists ?’’
‘’she’s not familair to us, we don’t have any children avatars from the humans.’’
‘’She ?, it was a girl ?’’
‘’yes Olo'eyktan, a young girl, a mere child.’’
Jake was confused by all means the scientists have no one except for Spider when it came to children, and no other than Norm and a few others had their own avatar. But they are all adults. Unless the RDA succeeded in making a young/child avatar.
A different scenario : this is a young girl from another tribe who is completely lost. But that would be an unlikely thing. He also trusted in the hunters and the other Na’vi. They can immidiatly tell who is and who is and who isn’t a sky person, even if you took the physical aspect of the avatar away. The 5 winger and eyebrows, they can always tell. It was something Jake as a former avatar wasn’t able to sense.
Then  there was the worts scenario : The skypeople have returned to Pandora, How is the question. If any spaceship comes in Pandora’s orbit they would’ve seen it sooner, they would’ve seen a new star in the night.
‘’Have you told this to anyone else ?’’ Jake asked.
‘’No, Sir’’
Gather a group of hunters, bring them together at the totem. Do so quickly and calmly. I don’t anyone question what is happening.
With that he sent the hunter on his way to gather the others. Meanwhile he walked back to his mate who was currently giving out food to their children and feeding their 2 year old baby. As he came closer his children as wel as his mate looked at him expectantly, turning towards him or looking up at him. As Jake stood before them he crouched down to properly speak to her and silently observe then infant she cradles in her arms.
‘’Ma Jake ?’’ is all Neytiri needed to ask. She knew the look on her mates/husbands face, she could tell he was holding back from telling her something. The worry and confusion starting to become visible on her face.
‘’Ma Jake, what is happening ?’’
‘’Me and a group of hunters are gonna gather at the Totem, i need you there.’’
‘’is there something wrong dad ?’’ his 13 year old Daughter asks. Kiri was looking at her father with wide curious looking eyes. Usually he would expect this question from Lo’ak, but this time it came from Kiri.
‘’No there is nothing wrong babygirl, can you and Neteyam take care of your siblings and go to Grandmother. Me and your mother have something to discuss.
Rectuantly the children all gathered and stood up, taking their food with them to finish with the tsahik. Lo’ak turned before walking with them conteplating to ask his father questions, but the look Jake gave him told him no in an instant. This was absolutely no good time. So he stays quiet and goes with his siblings, Neytiri still holding small Tuk stands straight and determinded, Like a proud mother ready to protect as she looks back at him.
‘’twawne, what is happening ?’’
Jake looks back to her trying to calm his expression for what he was about to tell her.
‘’they, the hunters, saw a dreamwalker, not one of our own.’’
Neytiri looks at Jake with shock written on her face. From all the things she was expecting him to tell this was not one of them. But her shock from this knowledgequickly turned into frustration and anger.
‘’what are they ? is it the skypeople ? are they back ?’’   ‘’they never should have dared to return’’
Before she could say more Jake cuts her of without angering her more.
‘’We don’t know who they are or how they came here. Appareantly they are alone, but we don’t know if more are out there. A hunting party and me will go out to track her, they we’re spotted not far from here’’
Neytiri looks Jake in thee yes with determination, her voice not wavering or stuttering for even a second.
‘’I am coming with, i need to see this demon for myself’’
‘’Neytiri, this could be a trap, we don’t kniow how many there are or what they have, we need to be carefull about this’’
Neytiri didn’t back down ‘’i am coming, you can’t convince me otherwise. We’ll track the demonand stop them from coming here. Especially this close tot he village.’’
Jake recuantly agrees, Neytiri is a fierce warrior. Nothing will stand in her way or hold her back. She can handle herself.
‘’okay, but i have to tell the people over at the lab and warn them, or at least Norm and Max.’’
‘’you want to involve the humans again ? they’ll only be in our way.’’
‘’no they won’t, i make sure of that. They can help us. We just need to warn them for any possible outcome. I’m gonna as kif they might have a theory or have picked something up at the lab. See if they may have a clue on how they’ve gotten here.’’
With that Jake hoped Neytiri would agree with his choices, her and Jake never always saw eye to eye with some things involving leading the tribe. But whatever happens they still trusted eachother. Mo’at still being the Tsahik often agreed with Jake.
‘’i’ll inform the Tsahik, Go and prepare. I want this over with quickly’’
with that she walked away towards the Tsahiks tent to drop of Tuktirey for bed and inform het mother of the situation. Hoping everone who will come with the hunters remains uninjured.’’
Jake went tot he Totem to inform the warriors/hunters of the planand prepare. This needed to be done carefully and silently. They’ll track down and observe the dreamwalkerand see if she has any contact with anyone outside the forest. Adrenaline shot trough his body prepared for anything that could happen.
-----
‘’Norm, Norm do you read me ?’’
The radio comes to life with it’s spheric static noises. A few seconds went by before the radio picked up a reply.
‘’Jake, i’m here i read you. Is everything alright ? you hardly ever use the radio, what’s going on?’’
Norm, i need you and maybe max or someone else to check anything you can off the satelites still working. See if something came into Pandora’s orbit. Or try to see if you pick up any signals unfamilair to us. Anything like a habsite or a ship.’’
‘’Whoah, whoah, slow down. You want us to look for any unusual activity ? what for. Did you find something?’’
‘’Or someone’’ Said Jake. The radio went silent for a second, the words he said came out quick and without thinking.
On the other end of the radio Norm sat in the lab at the remains of Hells gate. He was still awake in his human form to look at samples he picked up earlier in the day. Now listening to what Jake called him for. It wasn’t unusual to hear the radio every once in a while come to life. Wheter it be random static noises or Jake calling in to check up on everyone if he was too busy to stop by. And he usually was. What was unusual is for hi mto call upon them this late at night.
‘’wait Jake i couldn’t hear you, can you repeat that.”
‘’i said…..i said we didn’t find something we found someone. we found a dreamwalker, potentionally.’’
‘’wait, there is a avatar out there, are you sure?’’
‘’well i wasn’t the one that found it, or sa wit. One of the hunters did.’’
Jake had to start thinking of a plan, what if there really was an avatar walking in the forest right now. What do they do ? kill them on site?. There should be another way, he still needed answers. And now whether he had to or not the scientists would be involved.
Norm was silently having a whirlwind of thoughts running trough his brain.
‘’Norm you still with me’’ Jake asked
‘’sorry, yes i hear you, i was…thinking for a second’’
‘’Norm. Can you only inform max and whoever needs to know about this. I don’t wanna cause unnecessary panic if it is a false alarm. A hunting part is going to follow this ‘someone’ they found, i’m going with them. But i need a favor’’
‘’thats the first time you ever asked for a favor, but yeah how can i help?’’ Norm questioned, he had a theary what Jake was up to but he would let him do the talking for now. Still too preocupied with his thoughts to start arguing with someone’’
‘’if there is an dreamwalker alone, i need to get them to Hells gate. We can keep them there, we can’t let them know where the village is’’
‘’then why do you want them here ? they’ll know where we are, what the thinking ?’’ Norm said as he contignues
‘’I don’t think the’ll be much better of here’’
‘’no they are. We need to keep them isolated to confuse them, not knowing where they are is the best option to pin them down.’’ Jake trows back
‘’Well, you’ll need to get them to a holding cell further inside the buildings we don’t use. But how do you even wanna get them here.’’
‘’the hard way i figured’’
‘’Jake, don’t do something unnecessarily stupid’’
‘’Can’t promise anything at this point’’
‘’Okay i’ll inform Max and the others’’
‘’Thank you Norm’’
Jake then ended the radio call. He needed to get the other hunters ready to depart. They couldn’t wait another second.
-
i can’t see, i can’t hear. All i see is blackness. No colors or images and no dreams. The lack of sound was giving a tingling sensation in my head. Occasionally i could hear a peep on one side of my head and it fades few seconds after. I don’t know where i am, or what is going on.
I turn and turn in the hopes of seeing anythng in the distance but the blackness was messing with my sense of direction. A cold wind comes from behind me and my first instinct is to wrap my arms around me and sit down, curling myself up shielding my body from the cold. turning to look where the wind came from it starts to get warmer. when i face behind me a bright light blinds me from under me. glowing gold and orange like the sun and warming my body. As i try to open my eyes my sight is still completely blinded. It felt like i couldn’t choose between waking up or staying asleep.
I can faintly start to feel the sensations of my body again. A pressure or support under my knees and spine, my head falls back too tired to support my neck. As i faintly hear some voices around me all the sounds completely stop again giving back the tingling sensation in my head. And the loop starts all over again. Trying to see, hear and feel.

Wounds
Sonic is bruised, bloodied, and delusional. So, naturally, he shows up at Shadow’s doorstep.
CW: This little fic contains heavy themes!! Death is mentioned multiple times, there are mentions of physical and mental injuries (nothing graphic) and there are a few mentions of nausea / getting sick. It isn’t like the most intense thing but it’s not v cheery either!!
That being said, I really enjoyed writing this and I think it’s just neat!! I hope y’all enjoy it too :>

The pitter patter of rain had begun to grow louder, large droplets slashing through the air as if they were driven by something. They tapped heavily against the metallic roof, the loud clanging an unfamiliar sound in the hedgehog’s ears. The droplets that opted to hit the home itself were quieter, quickly fading into the wooden exterior.
Most of them, however, seemed to make their way into the hero’s fur.
Sonic shivered. Or, at least, he thought he might have, if he could still feel such things. He could do nothing but stand, observing the three small wooden steps ahead of him, analyzing them through bloodshot eyes. He was frozen, frozen in what could’ve been fear, or perhaps, hypothermia.
He shouldn’t be here, that much was obvious.
He shouldn’t even know where here was, and yet…
Well, there was no sense in justifying a dying man’s actions.
A cold wind pushed at his left side, chilling his bones, and sending more rain his way. It was as if the earth urged him to leave, pushing him to go back, to not make such a stupid mistake. Sonic did not listen. Instead, the hero pushed forwards, grimacing as the ache in his legs made itself overwhelmingly present.
Every muscle in his body strained as he braved the three small steps that had sat before him for so long. It took him much more time than it should have, it made him slow, and a slow pace was not a thing Sonic easily associated with.
It didn’t matter.
His head spun with exhaustion, his legs shivering in a warning; if he did not stop standing soon, they would very well make that decision for him. His stomach churned, too, a dizziness in his heart that was most likely caused by blood lost, if anything.
The porch had a small awning, one that slightly deterred the rain from his body. The hedgehog quickly shook himself – ignoring the intense pain it caused – ridding his fur of any excess moisture. A heavy sigh escaped his lips as he regained his breath, leaning against the fencing that lined the small area. It helped support him, if only temporarily.
Regaining his bearings, he observed the dark wooden door before him. He frowned as he noted the absence of a doorbell, unsurprised and yet disappointed in this development. With another heavy breath he pushed himself forwards, limping to the entrance of the home.
His arm moved, hand coming in the shape of a fist to knock against the door. It was softer than he’d intended, perhaps too quiet.
A part of him prayed that it went unheard.
The silence was short lived, and soon there were footsteps on the other side of the entrance, their sound muffled by wood and rain and a buzz that filled Sonic’s ears. He focused on the quiet sound, tethering himself to it, trying desperately to stay lucid in the midst of it all.
Why did breathing hurt so much? He couldn’t remember if it had always been like this.
The door opened violently, one sharp swing inwards.
Ah. And there he was.
Shadow the hedgehog, in all of his furious glory, staring daggers at the intruder on his front porch.
Golden light flowed from behind him, casting warmth onto their empty surroundings. It was such a pretty sight, Sonic thought.
“What do you want?” His voice was ragged, sharp. It sent a fuzzy feeling down Sonic’s stomach, easily dismissed as fear or disgust.
Sonic couldn’t help but smile. The world spun around him as he chuckled, swaying slightly on weakened legs. “That excited to see me, huh?” His voice was so… broken? The words tasted like blood and bile, a sourness that stung his throat and coated his tongue. A weak cough weaseled its way out of him, surely an attempt to clear himself of that vile taste. It did not work.
Shadow’s scowl did not soften at the words, but his eyes trailed around the other’s body, observing. They did not miss the way he swayed, the way his chest rose and fell so abnormally. There was a stretch of silence between them, one that felt too familiar.
For a moment, Sonic thought this was it. Perhaps Shadow would take the opportunity. Perhaps he’d be smart, finishing him off right there and then. It was only logical, wasn’t it? Was Sonic asking for it, at this point? Showing up to an enemy’s doorstep, bruised and beaten and teetering on the edge of death.
He might as well have tattooed the words “Yours to kill” on his forehead.
A minute passed them by, and then another. They both stood, unmoving. If Sonic had wanted to turn around and forget it all, it was too late. If he came to regret this decision, if he finally met his end at the hands of his melancholic enemy – then so be it. The hero had sealed his fate. He did not run, he couldn’t anymore.
Shadow was the first to move, taking a step out of the doorway to approach the other. Sonic did not flinch at the shift in positions.
The agent did nothing more, simply opening his mouth to speak; “Who did this to you?” His tone was harsh, but this venom was not directed towards Sonic. It was an unfamiliar anger, one that should not have been present when it came to the hero of mobius.
Said hero was too delusional to dissect the peculiar development, simply speaking without thought or concern. “Hm, wouldn’t you like to know?” He mumbled, feeling his head getting heavier, or maybe, lighter? It was too hard to tell.
A pain in the ass, even when he was two seconds away from death.
The agent before him said nothing. Instead, he took another step forward, bringing their bodies to an uncomfortable, and yet all too familiar closeness. Sonic should have taken a step back, but his instincts had vanished long ago, all sense or sensibility gone with the mere decision to have shown up here.
Shadow’s hand grabbed at his chin, and Sonic almost found himself leaning into the touch. The grasp was sharp, and yet it lacked the aggression it usually carried. The hero felt his heart lurch forward, emerald eyes beaming into ruby ones.
Sonic observed as Shadow’s lips moved to form words, but he could not hear a thing. The light buzz that filled his ears had turned into a sharp ringing, and the ability to focus seemed just out of his grasp now.
The dark hedgehog narrowed his eyes in what was undoubtedly anger, before speaking again, two words that Sonic knew all too well.
The world disappeared momentarily, the trees and rain that surrounded them turning to nothingness, fading into a darkness that was quickly replaced by a different scenery. It was a softly lit bedroom, one he did not recognize.
And Sonic was- he was laying down. There was a soft mattress beneath him, and a cool wooden headboard pressed against his back. The dark blue sheets surrounding him were messily tossed about, and there were no pillows to be seen.
A wave of nausea accompanied the new surroundings, and Sonic tried desperately to keep it down as it threatened to spew out of him very soon.
There was a little voice in his mind urging him to stand, to locate himself, to see if any danger lurked nearby. It was all that remained of his fight or flight, and yet he could not be bothered with listening to it. Standing seemed impossible now, anyway.
In an attempt to evade the nausea that so suddenly plagued him, Sonic observed his surroundings. There was a large window, framed by thick black curtains. Despite it being dark outside, the curtains were tossed wide open, allowing for a clear view of the rain that smacked heavily across the glass.
Besides the window stood a small black desk, with little to no objects lining its sleek surface. There was a bookshelf besides it, its dark wooden planks lined with more books than sonic could possibly count. He tried to discern a title or two amongst them, but the action made him dizzy, and so he quickly gave up.
The walls were mostly empty, a piece of art hung here and there. Mostly, there was little to speak of, and Sonic found himself curious, more than he should be.
A door closed, somewhere to the right of him. The blue hedgehog twisted his neck around again, the motion much too painful for the simple action it was.
There was a closed door, likely the entrance to the room, and from it had come Shadow. The agent approached Sonic, carrying a bright red case in his left hand. The object was quickly tossed at the end of the bed, a soft thud following the action.
The hero tried to discern the emotion that was painted on the other’s face – he expected to find disgust, anger, or even annoyance, but there was nothing. Shadow’s features were pulled into a neutral scowl, one void of emotion. It was a façade; one Sonic was too used to seeing.
The dark hedgehog approached him, and all Sonic could do was observe. Something was pushed towards him, a glass of water. He was unsure where it came from.
“Drink.” The instructions were simple, easy to follow. Sonic got a hold of the glass, forcing himself to take a few sips of the clear liquid. It tasted different than the one from his apartment.
Shadow did not linger any longer than was necessary, moving to retrieve a few things from the case at the end of the bed. Sonic recognized it as a first-aid kit, similar to the one that was stored in his bathroom, bellow the sink. He had use for it, often because of the other. The other, who was now pouring a generous amount of alcohol onto a white cloth, the other, who did not speak as he moved to clean the wounds around the hero’s body.
The peroxide stung as it scraped away blood, sweat, and grime. Sonic clenched his jaw as he hissed in discomfort, heavy head leaning backwards onto the headboard.
The ringing in his ears dimmed to a buzz again as the warmth of the room seeped into him, slowly but surely warming him. His fur was damp now, as opposed to the uncomfortable soggy mess it had been a few minutes ago.
There were footsteps, and a hand on his chin again, except this time, it was gentle. The hero did not open his eyes as the wet cloth scrubbed softly at the fur on his cheeks, where he was sure he’d been thoroughly scratched.
The touch was gone as suddenly as it had appeared, and Sonic kept still as the other shuffled around again. There was silence, interrupted by small sounds of ruffling as Shadow gathered supplies.
Time pressed on as the agent bandaged superficial wounds, applying ointments where need be. There were so many touches, and they were so… gentle. And with every touch, the pain seemed to subside a little bit more.
There was a large gash on his left side, and Shadow tended to it too. With surgical thread and a sharp needle, it was carefully stitched up. It was slow and painful, Sonic’s back arching in discomfort despite himself. Shadow’s hands would push his body back down every time it rose up, not wanting to damage the careful job he’d done. The hero groaned in pain, the sounds whiny and weak in the silence of the night.
And yet, the sharp metal passed through his skin nonetheless, steady and repetitive. Every new puncture was a spill of energy on his behalf, energy spent trying not to scream in pain, not to give up entirely and fall victim to the exhaustion that clung to him.
His brain was getting foggier by the second now, and amidst all the dust there was a question.
Don’t you realize what you’ve done?
He did not answer it.
“Sonic.” The voice was quiet, distant. The hero raised his head to meet it, observing the other. It should fill him with hatred, it should fill him with anything other than this- this warmth, this appreciation that was reserved for others, not for enemies or villains, and certainly not for Shadow.
“Hm?” He questioned, exhaustion clawing at his brain, trying to drag him down. It had been a long night, and he’d been fighting for too long.
The agent had finished his work, tying the rigid string into a tight knot, carefully snipping the ends of it with small scissors. The needle was discarded in a trashcan somewhere nearby, along with all the other waste they’d accumulated.
Sonic wondered, for a moment, how Shadow knew how to do all of this. Not why he’d done it, because that question was simply beyond them. No, he wondered how. As far as he was aware, Shadow did not need medicine or bandages. The hybrid was an odd being, and Sonic had seen for himself the way his wounds stitched themselves together with nothing but time, and not much of it. So then, why did he own such a kit? And how did he know how to use it so well?
The agent broke the silence between them, cutting through Sonic’s thoughts. “Whatever the fuck you did, it left you with internal wounds.” Shadow spoke, gesturing vaguely at Sonic’s body, at the ragged motion that was his broken breathing.
“Uh huh?” He replied lazily, nonchalantly. He should care about this, really, but he can’t find it in himself to do so. “s’fine.” He added after another moment of silence, shrugging his shoulders to the best of his ability. “it’ll fix itself.”
“It won’t.” Shadow replied sternly, with a hint of… concern? Sonic was really falling into delusion now.
“It might.” Sonic spoke again as he attempted to move, pushing himself up on tired arms. Shadow’s hand was quick to push against his chest, slamming him back into the headboard with a dull thud. Sonic’s head swam with the contact, hissing in pain as he clutched his forehead. “What the fuck?” He snapped angrily at the other.
Shadow easily ignored his comment. “It won’t.” He repeated again, more aggressively this time. Sonic’s eyes were pinched shut, and he was afraid that he’d spew his guts everywhere if he dared to open them again.
Sonic had a concussion, most likely. It would explain the sharp pain, the fogginess, and the inability to focus. Whether Shadow had caused it, or merely reinforced it, that he was unsure of. What Sonic was sure of, however, is that the (probably) concussion was the only thing standing between him and the other. If it was not for his inability to move, Sonic would’ve surely instigated a fight by now.
“I can.. alleviate it.” Shadow spoke again.
Sonic did not reply immediately, mostly because it took him a minute or so to figure out what the other had said. When the words finally settled in his mind, all Sonic could do was scrunch his brows.
“Huh?” He asked, confused.
“I can alleviate it.” Shadow repeated, to the other’s annoyance.
“No, I mean how.” Sonic pushed, still a bit untrusting despite it all. The agent hadn’t killed him yet, shouldn’t that be a good sign?
“I can’t explain.” Shadow’s patience was wearing thin, and Sonic could almost perfectly picture the irritation on his features. “I can show you, if you’d be so kind as to let me.”
This was all too much, and he was so tired. The hero knew well enough that the pain would not go away on its own, and he knew damn well that he was never going to seek real medical attention for it. It wouldn’t hurt to try, would it? (Unless it would, but he could not know that.”
“Fine.” The words were brief, quiet, accompanied by a tired sigh.
Shadow did not respond. He simply moved, settling himself on the mattress besides Sonic. The blue hedgehog opened his eyes at the sudden contact, the soft feeling of Shadow’s leg against his own. His eyes were met by the others, their gazes locked onto each other, unwilling to look elsewhere.
“Close your eyes.” Shadow ordered, and Sonic did not have to be told twice. The hero shut his eyelids again, leaning into the headboard as much as it allowed him to. He felt Shadow’s weight shift, soft black fur rustling against a damp blue coating as the agent moved ever so slightly.
And then, there was a touch. Gloved hands softly grasping at his sides, so gently, it almost pained him. Sonic was too conscious of his breath now, of the way his heart fluttered and hammered blindly, thrashing like a wild animal in its cage.
If he thought it could not get any odder, he’d been wrong. There was a sudden warmness to Shadow’s touch, one that was easily dismissed at first, but one that grew hotter by the second. It soon became a burning sensation, travelling throughout his body as if it were alive.
It enveloped his ribs, burnt his bones, and tended to his sore muscles. It was almost like a tingle, and yet it was so different. It cleared the fog in his head and alleviated all pain that had accompanied it. And as time ticked on, it seemed to grow stronger, until a minute had passed by them, and it no longer felt like anything.
The hands retracted themselves, and the pain was nowhere to be found.
Sonic opened his eyes, a sense of overwhelming relief flowing through his veins. His breaths settled into a steady rhythm, the pain that had so recently accompanied them, vanished. There was still a sense of exhaustion that brewed in his head, and there was the slight sting of the cuts around his body, but it all felt so distant now.
Emerald eyes met their counterpart as the two hedgehogs sat in silence. Shadow had removed his touch, but had not opted to stand quite yet. Words hung in the back of their minds, questions without answers and confessions that were best left unsaid.
“Thanks.” Is all Sonic could muster, a stale word that left a slight awkwardness hang between them. Shadow nodded briefly, standing as he cleared his throat. The agent’s gaze lingered for a moment or two before he spun around, making himself busy with the disorganized first aid kit.
Sonic found the strength to stand now, stiffly bringing himself up from the soft mattress. He observed the room quietly for a moment, committing it to memory for a reason that was unknown to him. There wasn’t much here, and yet Sonic felt like it was a violation just to see it all, to be aware in what lied inside of Shadow’s bedroom, it-
He should go.
“Uhm.” He spoke up, seeking the other’s attention. Shadow did not grant him this, showing no sign of acknowledgment towards the other. “I don’t know how to leave.” He spoke, fiddling with his fingers. Sonic did not have a clue what lied beyond the bedroom door, and he thought that finding out might bring them a step or two closer to knowing each other. He should not want that.
A small sigh came from the other, and he moved towards the hero. His movements were more tiresome than they’d been before, his energy undoubtedly thinned with the healing process.
There was a hand on his shoulder, and a familiar whisper.
“Chaos control.”
They were the last words Sonic heard before he was stood in his empty apartment, left alone to absorb the odd events from the past few hours. He stood for a moment as questions piled on in his mind, and yet, there was one that stood out amongst the rest – why did Shadow know where he lived?
Sonic chuckled at the question, finding a sense of giddiness at the thought of Shadow knowing where his apartment resided. It was perhaps not so funny, to know that your enemy knew the exact location of your home. But in this state of tiredness, Sonic could not be bothered to care, instead finding that his heart fluttered at the mere thought of it.
He’d really lost his mind now.

Scott should’ve known this is what would happen if he came out, and he supposes coming out is exactly what he’s just done. For a second there, he was strong and sure and right, completely accepting of himself, of who he is- but now he’s back to the little bursts, the self-hate and self-disgust that have become so familiar to him prickling just under his skin. Back to normal- except it’s worse.
or, Scott's horrific father takes the final step and Scott goes to Jimmy for help.
TW: parental homophobia, internalized homophobia, micromanaging, abuse, blood, references to past abuse, disowning, concussion, dissociating, self-hate, etc.
In this chapter, someone's homophobic father kicks them out of the house. If this is triggering and/or trauma-inducing to you, PLEASE don't read. Stay safe <3
(3396 words)
“W-what? What do you mean, I need to explain myself?” Scott asks, anxiety bubbling up from his core, spiking in little bubbles all over his hands and heart and face.
“What do you think?” Father’s voice is cold and hateful, and Scott can’t help but shiver under his baleful glare, memories of times when he’s disappointed his father before peeling back a curtain in Scott’s mind. “You have a phone.” It’s not a question, and Scott can feel the sweat freezing on the back of his neck, he can’t see a way he’s getting out of this- his only possibility is to try to bluff; something his father knows Scott’s not very good at.
“I- I have no idea what you’re talking about.” He tries to take a few subtle deep breaths, to calm himself down without arousing his father’s suspicions even further, what feels like an ocean churning away in the pits of his stomach.
“Don’t play dumb with me, Scott.” The phone is still clutched tight in Father’s hand, his knuckles white with the strain- but there’s no way he could’ve gotten into it, he doesn’t know the password, he couldn’t possibly know the password, right?
Right?
A few beats pass before an almost malicious grin spreads across his father’s face.
“Next time, maybe don’t write things down in your notebook if you’re trying to sneak something from me.” And with a few quick clicks of his thumb, his father’s opened the phone. He displays the bright screen to Scott, the background a picture of him, Jimmy, Shelby, Joel, and a very grumpy-looking Owen from that one time when they went to the county fair.
“Y-you’ve been going through my notebook?!” Scott asks, incredulous, because surely that wouldn’t be true, surely Father, micromanaging as he is, wouldn’t pry that far into Scott’s privacy.
“I’ve been reading through that notebook from the day you started it,” Father says nonchalantly, as if he hasn’t just broken every boundary ever. Suddenly Scott is very glad he’s never written anything about being gay, or his suspicions that he is- if he had, he can assume that he’d be locked in his room right this second.
“That is-” Scott’s at a loss for words. “You can’t just read through my things! That’s private!” His hands ball into fists by his side, shaking ever so slightly as he stands, aghast.
“As long as you live in this house, everything you do is allowed by law to be under my surveillance. I don’t know why you think you have that sort of freedom yet- I don’t see why you think you’ll ever have that kind of freedom- you’re still my son, disappointment that you are.” Scott feels the insult prick under his skin, just another added to the piles of worthlessness that have accumulated over the years.
But wait a second. He isn’t usually one to judge parenting, but isn’t that wrong? Isn’t that, like, just the absolute wrong way to go about raising a child? “Father, I don’t- I’m seventeen. I’m not a child, and I get that you think this is best for me, but I’m allowed to have my own personal thoughts. You don’t need to know everything.”
Father laughs, a dark, almost coughing, sound. “Yes, I do. Especially if you’re going to be texting people I don’t know about.”
“You went through my texts as well?!” Things are looking worse and worse on this front, and just by the way Father’s acting, Scott can’t help but wonder if he’s found out about-
“Scott. Who is Jimmy?” Oh no. This was it, the reason he’s started talking- Father’s reached his capstone point and Scott can’t not answer him now, things will be so much worse for him if he doesn’t answer, he can already imagine the fury, the banishment-
He doesn’t want to get locked in his room again, like the last time he refused. He doesn’t want it to be like last time, alone and scared with nowhere to go, no one to talk to. He’s learnt his lesson from that. So he breaks. And he shrinks down back into himself. “Jimmy is my friend. Just a friend I made about a month ago.”
But Jimmy is so much more than just a friend. He’s a laugh on the wind and a shoulder to lean on and a wish that was lost when Scott was very young, he’s a push in the right direction and a memory of a smile and everything and nothing, all compiled into the body of a single short, silly little canary.
But Father doesn’t need to know that.
“In this picture, I assume he’s the one I don’t know?” Father asks, sneering at the photo of Scott and his friends, smiling around a table, lips around straws that are all stuck into a single, giant milkshake.
“Yeah.”
“Pray tell, why is he wearing a skirt?” The disgust on Father’s face is plain to see, and Scott curses himself, why hasn’t he remembered his father’s distaste towards gender nonconformity? Scott should have recalled the time when he was a child and they went clothes shopping at a store, and he had asked for a fluffy light blue dress, only for his father to stare at him and parade him out immediately. That was the first time Scott got locked in his room. Ever since, it’s consistently been his least favorite punishment, and Father knows it.
“...He likes wearing skirts. It’s what’s comfortable for him.” Scott’s voice is quiet, but he knows he has to defend Jimmy because otherwise he just won’t be able to forgive himself, he is not having his father insult maybe the one person that keeps him going.
“Is he one of those homosexuals? I don’t want you associating with those abominations, lest you become even more corrupt and defective than you are now.” Scott’s always known his father’s homophobic, but it’s never really truly sunk in more than now, when the hate on Father’s face is real and true and scathing, and it suddenly becomes very apparent to Scott that his father truly believes the things he’s saying are the truth.
How has Scott lived with this man for so long?
“I don’t know his sexuality. I’ve never asked.” Scott needs to stay calm, blowing up at his father won’t do anything, except maybe get him locked up again- but it’s hard, the cruel expression on Father’s face almost begging Scott to dissent.
“Well, maybe you should. It’s always best to know your enemy, and between you and I, Scott, the gays are even worse than you. Turns out you’re not completely at the bottom of the barrel!” Father barks out a laugh, and Scott shudders. This is not okay- if only his father knew, if only he knew, Scott’s secret beating even harder than usual in his chest, thumping and crashing and begging to be let out, a torrent of feelings and truths-
“All- all gay people aren’t bad,” he manages, shaking so hard he doesn’t know what to do with himself. He’s scared, and he doesn’t know what his father will do to him, but he has to take a stand- none of this is okay. “And what about Owen? You don’t mind Owen, right?”
“Owen is gay?!” Father’s eyes light up with a fury bordering on fear, the fire bristling within them. This… may have been a mistake.
“He’s bi.”
“That’s not a thing. I sent you to Robert Aeor so we could get those kind of thoughts out of you, but it seems it hasn’t worked- you’re just as liberal as ever, wanting to give everyone a chance,” Father sneers, taking his seat at the head of the table and gesturing for Scott to sit down at the far end. “Well, news flash: not everyone deserves a chance. Not everyone’s as decent as me- you barely count, the only reason I haven’t tossed you out of the house already is because at least you’re obedient. You do what’s asked of you and you understand that you’re lesser, which is about the most I could ask for from someone like you.” Okay, this has gone too far, Scott’s had just about enough of this, it’s too much-
“Stop.” It’s barely a whisper, the word that escapes Scott’s lips, barely denting the air, his heart beating wildly out of his chest as he stares at the floor, determinedly not meeting his father’s eyes.
Father freezes, a dangerous glare painted across his face, and Scott can eyes wide and admonishing when he glances up momentarily. “What did you just say?”
“I said, STOP!” Scott yells the word now, loud as his lungs can bear, the sound echoing around the cavernous, empty room- and then it all comes flooding out, all the anger and fear and hatred he’s felt in the past however many years spilling into his voice, giving him the burst of strength he needs to continue. “I am not lesser than you. I am not someone you should call your family. You don’t deserve it.” There are tears prickling behind his eyes, and this time he doesn’t push them back, he lets them drip slowly down his cheeks. He stands, bracing his hands on the table, and makes his way over to where Father still sits, shocked to silence and angered beyond recognition.
“I am a person. I am a person who is allowed my own life. I don’t need you, I don’t want you, all you’ve EVER done for me is make my life absolutely fucking miserable.”
“Don’t use those words with me, young man. You need to calm down, or bad things are going to happen. You forget who has the power here- do you want to get locked in your room again?”
“But, see, that’s wrong! You’re not supposed to lock your kids in their rooms for days on end, you’re not supposed to feed them only peanut butter and jelly sandwiches because something they can’t change disappointed you one time, eight years ago. You’re not supposed to watch them as they sleep, or monitor their every move, or dictate who they’re friends with. I am not locked within your grasp- I’ve been finding ways around your silly little rules since I was five. Maybe you forget who has the power here. Because you sure as hell couldn’t stop me from kissing that boy at the zoo when I was eight.”
There are a few beats of silence, and then Scott’s father stands, pointing to the door. “Get out.”
“Wh-” Scott’s eyes go wide, he’s been expecting his father to be extreme, but is he trying to kick him out of the house?
“Get. Out.” There is no question in Father’s voice, the anger simmering just under the surface, masked by an icy cold hate that Scott’s come to know well. “You don’t want me as your family? Well, fantastic. That’s what you’ve just achieved. You’ve disappointed me for the final time, Scott. No son of mine is gonna be gay.” Oh, no, oh no no nonononono, Scott’s just said that Father shouldn’t consider him family, sure, but he didn’t really mean it- all he wants is for his father to understand that he’s a person, he thought he was on the right track-
“You can’t just-”
“Oh, I absolutely can. Did you hear me? Get. OUT!” Father screams the last word, picking up the vase from the center of the table and pitching it forward, throwing it at Scott, and he barely registers it before it smashes into his head, intense pain exploding from the collision point. Water splashes all over his head and shards of porcelain jab into his skin, new cuts appearing in his arms. He feels a stinging on his cheek and lifts his fingers to the feeling.
When he draws them back, they are covered in blood.
Scott takes one last look at his father, his home, and he runs. He’s not ever wearing shoes as he pushes the door open, the rain beating down even harder now, mixing with his tears and the water from the vase, gulping for air in the cold, stormy night. He can still feel the throbbing in his skull, and realizes he probably has a concussion in addition to the very deep cut that now adorns his cheek. What does he do? Where does he go? He can feel his mind clouding, his judgment becoming less and less reliable with every passing second.
What happens now? Scott tries to step forward, because he needs to go, he needs to leave as soon as possible, managing a couple more paces before collapsing in a sobbing heap on the ground, choking on his own spit. He doesn’t have shoes, he doesn’t have a coat, and he’s never felt more alone, more broken and left behind. He didn’t think Father would react that way, he never thought it would be that severe. He supposes a part of him has always assumed that deep down, Father loves him.
That’s what he was trying to do, he was trying to appeal to that faraway hope, that glint that maybe, maybe he still had a chance- maybe he could still redeem himself in his father’s eyes, show Father that he’s just him. Maybe he’d even get acceptance. But he’s never had a chance, and he can see the lights of his- no, it’s not his anymore- he can see the lights of the mansion flicker off, a dark shadow making his way upstairs, seemingly completely untroubled about the fact he’s just disowned his only child.
This normal is worse.
And the tears are still streaming down his face; he’s almost completely certain that he has a concussion, it’s getting worse, getting hard to think- the only thing he knows is that he has to get out of here right now, because Father could come back for more, hurt Scott even further than he already has.
And though he wishes with all his might that if he waits for Father, he might come outside and apologize and welcome Scott back home, he knows it’s a vain wish. And so he heaves himself to his feet, feeling like he weighs a thousand pounds, and begins to walk, staggering forwards step by step in the pouring rain.
Time seems to dip in and out as he traverses the streets, sometimes he’s aware of what’s happening, sometimes it’s all a blur. His head throbs with each blink, each footstep, and he knows in the back of his mind how bad this must look, a teenaged gorgon, a species known for being disreputable, limping along the streets of a suburban neighborhood with seemingly no aim, nowhere to go.
But that’s a dumb thing to think about right now.
He’s just been kicked out of his home. Every few minutes, or what Scott thinks are minutes, the realization comes crashing down on him, and he has to stop for a couple seconds to deal with a new bout of shaking. Luckily, his shades are still on, though it’s hard to see through them with the frost that’s beginning to encrust the insides. Ice coats his whole body, feeling colder than he’s ever felt before- and it makes sense, he’s never been this lost and scared, he’s never been quite this out of control.
He’s broken.
He’s falling apart and he shouldn’t have blown up at Father, because now he’s gone and gotten himself kicked out, this is his fault, he knew what was coming for him and did what he did anyway. If he’d just kept his mouth shut, sat still, stayed the same as always- if he hadn’t “taken a stand”- it sounds so silly now, but at the time, he had really thought it would be the best course of action.
And now…
And now he, a boy who’s lived in a mansion his whole life, has no home. He has nowhere to go, he supposes he could pop by Owen’s or Joel’s or Shelby’s, but he doesn’t want to intrude, he doesn’t want to get in their way- Shelby has new year, Owen has all his sisters to deal with, Joel’s parents don’t like him very much, nor does his sister. Which leaves one option left out of his friend group: Jimmy. And that’s where his head starts turning.
Jimmy haid said, the very first day they met, that Scott should come to him if he needs help, right? And Scott thinks he would classify his situation right now as “needing help.” In fact, he would argue that this is the most help he’s ever needed in his life, what with him being lost and alone and scared, without a home or anywhere else to go.
Yeah, there’s not really another option- he needs to get to Jimmy’s, he knows this is the only way even through his clouded mind. But to do that, he needs to get his bearings first; he manages another block forwards so he can read the street sign, make certain he knows which part of town he’s in. He squints upwards, rubbing the encrusted ice off of his shades to read the few words written.
Norman Flick Avenue. No. There’s no way- but he looks behind him and sure enough, there’s Jimmy’s house, friendly and small and welcoming, all the windows lit up with a soft golden glow.
He’s already here.
How is he already here? Did his subconscious mind just decide to head to Jimmy’s, before he even really chose to? Why? Does he really trust the avian that much more than his other friends? What does he do now that he’s here? He can barely think through his concussion-induced haze, and he knows he’s going to seem like an idiot, but all he wants right now is Jimmy, a comforting presence in this time where he’s literally falling apart.
And so he turns and walks up the steps of Jimmy’s house, number 156 Norman Flick avenue, and knocks on the door, hoping and praying that he’s home, that it’s not Beks or her parents who open the door. He stands awkwardly for a couple of seconds, biting his lip and shivering in the rain, almost resigning himself to sleeping under a bench for the night, when the door creaks open, and his heart starts racing. Hope.
A blonde head pokes out from behind the crack. “Hello? Scott? What are you doing here, mate? Oh no, you look terrible! What hap-” Scott wraps his arms around the avian, crying harder than ever now that he’s in comfortable arms, warm and sheltered and safe. Jimmy stands stiffly for a second, seemingly very surprised, before patting Scott somewhat awkwardly on the back and looping an arm around his waist to support him.
“Oh- oh, gosh, you’re not kidding, are you? I need to get you some tea or something warm, you’re freezing- Okay, one step at a time, Jim, one step at a time. Let’s get you inside, Scott. That sound good?” Scott nods, gulping down a few more tears, trying to stay somewhat composed, but it’s hard because his head hurts and he can’t think and oh god this is so embarrassing- and he must have just said something because Jimmy was doing his listening face, and now he’s responding to whatever Scott said, probably something dumb and nonsensical-
“It’s fine. You’re fine, okay? It’s a good thing you came to me, I’ll do what I can to help…” Jimmy’s saying more things, rambling on and on in his chirping voice, but Scott can’t really hear the words, all he hears is the rushing in his own ears and the relief that he’s safe now. Jimmy’s leading him forwards, keeping an arm around his middle, and Scott breathes a sigh of relief.
Jimmy’s here.
Jimmy’s here, and he’ll be fine.
