Truly beautiful productions, so carefully written, so well executed and with so much wholesomeness and so many green flags lol. I had the best time watching them and the fact that 2 OG pairs had comeback shows back to back gave me so much nostalgia lol, especially since the genre is reminiscent of their old shows. ❗️ Actor James Supamongkon announced his withdrawal from the upcoming Domundi BL Love Upon a Time. He released a statement on Twitter, saying he wants to expand his career and focus on other projects as an artist apart from acting. The company stated that Net and the others will stay part of the cast and that a new partner for Net will be cast shortly. This caused a big uproar amongst the fans who have been waiting for the series since it was announced over a year ago. Whether James' dropping out has anything to do with a dispute between him and Net is not confirmed.

Thots On NOPE (SPOILERS)

I get why this is divisive, but, Jordan Peele has constantly described the themes of the film as dealing with Spectacle. He is 1000% right, but I personally think that the themes have even moreso to do with exploitation.

When it comes to Ricky or "Jupe" I've seen so many reviewers saying that subplot had nothing to do with the film as whole, but it did in a VERY haunting way.

When Ricky is talking about the SNL skit that parodied a traumatic time in his life, he recalls it like a well executed comedy sketch. Then it cuts back to him hiding under the table.

I've seen so many videos online that have some sort of attention-grabbing title, regardless if it's accurate to what you will actually see, but the OP is aware of what makes people click on what's to be supposedly promised in the title or the thumbnail. They know what will attract a crowd. Not to be too graphic, but even porn videos will do the same thing, anything to get clicks & clout.

When Ricky starts the show promising a spectacle, he's used to the reaction he gets, hence why he always does the show showing off the "aliens" at 8:00 PM. Or at least practices the show at night, but the reason he does probably has to do with the "aliens" showing up at that specific time, hence why it's the first time we see activity from the supposed "aliens". (When we see the lights from the show when the sun is down in the first few scenes of the film. We don't know if it's rehearsal or just another show of his.)

He's willing to risk the possibility of an attack from a wild animal like the supposed UFO because he dealt with the attack from Gordy. He was waiting for the other shoe to drop. (like the shoe standing upright, which could be the "bad miracle" OJ refers to) He truly thought he could handle the intensity of the "alien ship" since he survived the attack and lived to tell the tale. He developed some kind of God complex that he could work around the danger of a "trained animal". His wife even said "Even trained animals can be unpredictable."

The people on set with Lucky are a great example. Who the hell stands behind a horse as an adult? Who's the genius who had different chimpanzees for a T.V. show with 0 wranglers? There are still people whom are dumb enough to go to the zoo and go over safety barriers, taunt the animals, or even hold their children close from any danger.

It's ironic how people are very obsessed with the concept of aliens, but if too many people can't handle creatures from earth, what makes us think we can handle the ones not from here?

The stars of the SNL skit straight up mocked a heavily disturbing moment in his childhood, yet he's still profiting off of the moment where this kids dress up as aliens to scare his neighbors as a joke and an intimidation tactic. (notice how their alien costumes look also like ape costumes)

Plus he said he was getting paid by people to sleep in a memorabilia room referencing multiple violent deaths on a TV set. Even with Oprah herself, when she interviewed the woman who was attacked by a chimpanzee and got her face ripped off, people in the comments criticize her for exploiting the woman instead of talking about how she moved on from the spectacle of a tragedy.

For the Haywoods, they're trying to uphold a legacy, they're the only black-owned horse trainers and their great great great-grandfather is someone whom had not been credited for their work as the first motion picture captured. For Emerald to be the one who captured a picture of alien proof as the descendant is SOOOO symbolic.

The cinematographer, Antlers, a white man played perfectly by Michael Wincott, didn't like the lighting in the shot he took so he took the risk to get a perfect shot. The TMZ biker had a whole helmet that reflected everything around him because who else would be obsessed with getting all of the chaos around them than TMZ? (The same publication that somehow managed to know that Beyoncé was filming the music video for "XO" & announces celebrity deaths before the family even gets a chance to.)

I've seen videos of so many disturbing events before, during, or after the fact that I can see what Mr. Peele was going for in commentating on. There's an infamous tiktok showcasing someone in the middle of a near plane crash I've seen reposted on Twitter, there's footage of a bear and a cougar in a circus attacking their supposed "trainers", talk show footage of a lion going after a toddler & almost biting the poor child it was sitting next to, the frozen and preserved bodies of those who've tried do climb Mt. Everest, and I've even seen a man who documented himself after getting graphically attacked by two grizzly bears. Yet the views on those videos reach the millions.

There's so many times a fucked up or upsetting moment in time has been exploitated to the point where it can be made a joke, a traumatic scene, or a topic of discussion, and that for me is what NOPE was commentating on. Some will not catch on with one viewing, but I recommend a second, or even third watch to fully get what's being told.

Films like that, that have a longer shelf life are what inspire me. It's a rarity that a filmmaker chooses to give their audience a challenge.

Woke up, got up, took a shower, and started to think about population densities of vampires in the Lost Boys universe.

Unlike many other vampire medias like Vampire: The Masquerade or Underworld, while there COULD be vampires, as Edgar says 'occupying high positions in the government', I think it's just not really a thing in this world. Vampire's feeding issues (needing to exsanguinate at least one human on order to be sated) puts a pretty big roadblock in any high-profile schmoozing any vamp may want to do. Max was likely already pushing it with owning a local business on a fairly popular seaside town.

So if vampires in this world are not creating massive networks of influence across the world, being the hand behind governments and all society, then..what is their actual population?

My take: much fewer and farther between.

Think about it: they're big pack predators. Their prey is...well, abundant, but tricky to actually get. If they wanted to stay in one place, that territory would need to be pretty damn large. Staying in centers of activity with a lot of people coming and going and creating barriers of time before someone would even know anyone was missing, like a town or city, is a no-brainer, right?

Well...yes and no. See. Just like with humans, cities attract people. The prey comes in, and predators follow. But that also means a LOT of those pack predators in close proximity to one another. Which means pretty fierce competition.

Max and the Boys seemed to have cleared out Santa Carla pretty well for themselves, but this doesn't read as nearly the norm to me.

Vampire packs are likely pretty small, getting no larger than the Boys and Michael and Star (Max wanting to add in Lucy and Sam as well was just plain unhinged overkill with no actual thought being put into territory management tbh.) As such, the easiest option for most TLB'verse vamps is likely...to just move. Become nomadic. Follow music tours as 'fans', tourist seasons in towns, hell, even hopping continents once and a while. This is often the reasons clans form, a stable central group that acts as something of a gateway to certain regions, hostels and camps for nomad singletons and packs.

The hard numbers on this are iffy? But I can check some stuff and make estimates later, just for fun. The vampire to human ratio is Definitely much much lower than you'd think though, with it being in my mind anywhere from 1000 to 3000 humans per vampire in any given area.

We head canon vampires need to eat somewhat less frequently than every night (Santa Carla would be empty by now if that were the case) so let's say...once a month for a healthy vamp with access to a steady supply of prey? That's 12 humans a year. Multiply that by pack size (4) and that's 48 humans missing from a designated space per year. That's. Still quite a bit. Again, much easier to hide if it's an active town. Much harder for rural areas.

Surviving in the vampire world ain't easy. Especially as a singleton with no pack or coven, especially if being one of those on the move.

The canny survive. The stupid do not. There are two ages of vampire's you'll usually meet out there:

The very young, and the very old. The dullbloods and rainbow teeth.

I got a really lovely comment on back to the start (Star Trek Discovery, Michael Burnham/Laira Rillak, 1000 words) recently. I reread it, and it's really well constructed for a middle of the night, intense sort of "I must write this" thing. Perhaps those always end up as well constructed because they're one idea and...

I like how the one person who is least qualified for a time loop (they only not scientist in the room, Laira) ends up being the one stuck in the loop, but her skills are just as useful in a different way, and how at some point she gives up, because that's an entirely normal response to being stuck in a time loop. Then Michael gives her hope again and that's such a Michael thing to do.

It's very well constructed. I like it.

quantum variations on a love theme (Star Trek Discovery, Michael Burnham, Laira Rillak, 170,059 words). It's the very definition of a me fi, long, floating, slow and plot, not in a hurry. There are parts in the middle where I get distracted by original characters and world building and the whole universe the characters must inhabit to get where they are.

It's also two of the best character arcs I've ever written. I wrote how they grew together and apart and how they worked through their fears and desires and things they weren't telling themselves yet, and I did that really well. It's fun. (and indulgent and predictable and flawed and someone is pregnant goes on a huge journey emotionally, and she's loved and the person who loves her is loved and it's very nice. I'm so proud of it.) It's the kind of fic where I'd change a bunch of things if I redid the whole thing, but the parts I wrote really well, are really really good.

A touching, hoping kind of thing (Star Trek Discovery, Michael Burnham/Laira Rillak, Michael Burnham & Sylvia Tilly, 100 words).

The dialogue is really fun, and that's basically all it is. I can see their faces, and that's what makes it fun.

In typical disaster style, i have 1000 wips and started a new one but I’m just happy the muse seems to be back while my life continues to be hell.

The door opened at Sanders and Son Trinkets, and instead of a traditional chime, Michael had in a fit of irony, programmed the sensor to make the soft chitter of a Star Trek communicator badge upon entry. Walt had thought it was both hilarious but also in bad taste for a shop mainly run by an alien to engage in that particular science fiction trope to welcome business in the door. They battled over the options, Walt with his own sci-fi choice, but he lost because it was clear that the lightsaber noise from Star Wars was too distracting to Michael, and the Star Trek chitter was just soft enough to be ignored if there was a project in progress.

He didn’t have the nerve to tell Walt the real reason why he avoided StarWars and any reference to it. 

Michael didn’t look up from his beading efforts, and let Walt take the shop floor in greeting the customer. It was his turn after all, to accost a tourist since Michael had patiently waited on Mrs. Ann Evans that morning. Painfully awkward for them both, since she kept talking about the backyard campouts that he had participated in as a child while remarking over the cost of the various pendants on display. It was clear that the rich stayed rich through shameless negotiation of a discount, even if it was bled from the child now adult, that she had left in foster care. Her final selection was a lab-made gem that Michael had spun a clever story of mining personally from the hills of Roswell’s river valley, and while she walked away believing she had won, Micheal knew the real score. 

Isobel would approve of his tactics while he was sure the story would garner a look of reproach from Max, although it’s possible Max was love-drunk over his upcoming wedding that he might find it funny.  

“Welcome to Sanders and Son, I’m Sanders, and anything you see is for sale, including the display case.”

Michael hid a smile, and then threaded a bead through his needle and started to slowly draw it through the loam, Walt was a ruthless broker when it came to closing a sale. He looked down at the simple bracelet, and then glanced at the glass case below his work space where various other completed projects rested, with small white paper price tags attached to the ends. The mix of black, purple, and turquoise bracelets were always popular with the walk-in traffic of casual tourists. Pendants of all lengths and sizes were nestled on crushed velvet, and there were small bowls of hand-made silver rings.

Outside of jewelry, there were shelves filled with small handmade figurines. Small flying saucers, fashioned out of scrap metal by Walt’s hands and then painted into brilliance by Rosa Ortecho. Old hubcaps made for metal flowers, repurposed car hoods had been trimmed and modeled into small buildings, carefully crafted to look like Main Street. Walt’s true gift was making small windmills, with colorful blades that function as fidget spinners for bored children. 

“I was interested in your jewelry, more specifically your wedding bands. A friend of mine recently showed me hers, and she said she got them here…” 

That voice. Michael froze at the sound of the soft low husky voice and didn’t dare to look up from his work. It couldn’t be. It was impossible. It had been fifteen years since that voice had called Roswell home before leaving for the military, and twelve years since he had last visited on leave. Twelve years since that fight that had broken Michael.

The needle slipped through the loom, breaking free of the pass through the beads abruptly and stabbed Michael painfully into his fingertips. He bit his lower lip and flexed his right hand in reaction, while his left, well… his left remained much the same. There was no flexing those fingers free, forever frozen in shattered bones and teenage hope.

“Wedding bands are done custom, no exceptions. We sell premade boutonniere pins or tie tacks, if you’re interested.” Walt was no-nonsense in his explanation, uttered without a shred of an apology even as he offered a replacement to the customer. 

“Well, how do I get a custom set of wedding bands then?”

“You talk to the artist and he decides if he will make them and how they will look.”

“And is that you?” The note of disbelief was a little hurtful but largely earned considering Walt sported a black eyepatch and his hands shook slightly, a marker of his age, as he moved throughout the shop.

Slowly, as if he was talking to a small child, Walt drawled, “No, the artist is back behind the counter, where it says workshop.” You idiot, was unsaid but was an almost audible chaser.

Michael chanced a look up from his work on the bracelet. It was possible his mind and his heart were playing tricks on him and it wasn’t Alex. Except. Fuck. With his dark hair, much longer than the military cut Michael remembered from the past, and his black glittering gaze, Alex Manes was indeed, standing in his shop, and he wanted wedding rings. For a man, presumably. For a man that wasn’t Michael. 

Fifteen years ago, a hammer had sliced through the air and had pulverized his left hand. Today, there was no hammer in sight, just the truth cutting through him with the same ruthlessness. Alex was back, he was back at last, but he was not back for Michael. 

She's Not For You

Chapter 1

ANNA

The night is still. The cool air hits my wet nose as I trot through the long, dew soaked grass.

There’s no sounds except for the odd cricket and the rustling sound of my paws hitting the dirt.

As I make my way to my favorite resting point, I lift my head, perk my ears and take a big whiff of the wind as it blows by. Nothing out of the ordinary hits my senses.

The city lights are far on my back, so the sky is blanketed with stars. With no clouds, the moon provides enough light, that I don’t have to rely on my wolf too much to see.

The trees provide a good cover while I patrol the border of the city. I round a path and arrive at my destination.

The trees open up and I stand at the edge of a clearing on the border of my pack's territory, Falcon Ridge.

It's not huge city, but it's not small either. It’s 4000 hard working shifters. We are the heart of the Alliance. Pretty much all the citizens are military here. The actual pack of Falcon Ridge makes up around 1000. Run by Alpha Andrews. Nice guy, but just not my cup of tea.

There’s 6 territories in the Alliance and the Falcon Ridge Unit protects all of them from outside threats like others packs. Mainly one murderous pack. The Dragons. I’ll explain them later.

Myself? I’m part of a smaller, inner city Unit. Border Patrol. Controlled by the cities, we make sure everything runs smooth. We help with crime and make sure no one, like rogues, sneak in.

This job isn’t for pussies. You need to be on your toes, quick acting and tough. Mostly men take this job, but every once in a while you get a woman like me.

You come at me, you better make it good because if I get up, you’re dead.

You need to think on toes, most of those idiot military guys don’t get that. I know most wouldn’t last two seconds while they waited for orders to be barked. Screw that.

I walk further into the clearing and stop. At my claws is an imaginary border. On the other side of it is White Rock. It sits on our western border. Home to 800 wolves, Alpha Blake runs a tight ship over there from what I hear.

I hardly cross the border. Don’t need to. Everything I need is right here.

I slightly shuffle my paws in the grass as I scan the clearing in front of me. My bright amber eyes stop and focus on a spot in the trunks.

Movement.

My ears twitch back and forth as I gather information on whether this is who I’m waiting for or someone else.

A dark shadow on four legs, breaches the tree line and trots toward me. Puffs of white cloud escapes his panting muzzle when he enters the moons light.

As he gets closer, I catch the grey mixed with black fur. The light almost makes him shine.

He locks eyes with me and straightens out. Making a beeline for the imaginary line.

Michael Dorian. The border patroller for this area between our two towns. Great guy. He’ll always have your back. I trust him with my life. He’s my best friend, why wouldn’t I?

He huffs as he gets closer. It’s almost hard to believe we’ve been meeting here almost every night for the last five years. It’s our spot.

His wolf stands at attention and eyes me up and down. My wolf lets out a little growl.

The wind picks up and a gust swirls around his wolf’s legs as he shifts. His impressive naked form stands where his wolf was and the wind dies down.

"Anna." He says low as he runs his hand through his thick brown hair. His brown eyes hinting that I can shift anytime now.

I call the wind and my body rearranges. My naked body stands in front of him. I give him a smirk and bounce my brow. “Michael.” I say coyly as I kick out a leg and fold my arms.

I flick my eyes around his cut body. I always like what I see.

During normal, everyday life, getting aroused by one of us being naked, hardly happens. We’re so used to it, it’s boring most times.

But…Every now and then, there’s that one body that you just want to chow down on. You just look at them and say, ‘Come to mama, baby.' Like the one I’m looking at right now.

He relaxes his stance and crosses his thick, muscular arms over his swollen, defined chest. "Anything out of the ordinary tonight?"

I look around the to the trees. "Not here. It’s been pretty quiet. Which is good because these double patrols are really killing me. The fucking Security Unit keeps taking all our manpower." I arch my brow. "How about you?"

He rubs his nape. "Nothing here either. I was kind of itching for a fight tonight. It's weird. We went from attacks almost daily, to...well...nothing." He looks around and flops his hand to his side.

I fix my long, brown hair with blonde highlights and flick a bug off my shoulder. "Hey, I'll take it. Maybe we can knock off early and catch a beer. What do you say?" I raise the corner of my mouth in a sly smile, lick my lips and give him a once over.

Michael is definitely a heart stopper. I’ve tasted him in so many ways that a proper woman shouldn’t, but no one said I was proper.

I’ll have him for breakfast, lunch and twice at dinner, but I'm not into him for any kind of relationship. He’s a hook up. A fling to satisfy my urges. I love him as a friend, but that’s as far as it goes.

Five years ago, I helped him bring down a nasty rogue wolf.

What’s a rogue? A shifter without a pack. We are so dependent on packs, that when one loses a pack, or gets kicked out by the Alpha, the solitary lifestyle does something. Something we all call Rogue Sickness. An illness that cause the brain to become sick and the wolf part of the beast to take full control. They stink to high heaven and will kill you without a second thought. It’s up to us border agents to kill them first.

Anyway, back to my midnight snack…

I personally encountered the opposite problem - there was an incident not long ago where some people who headcanoned Starscream (and several other characters) as transfem got really angry about people using she/her for Megatron, or saying Megs was a lesbian. Made me really sad :( . Whether it's Star, Megs, or any other character, it's saddening when people attack queer headcanons like that, and I'm sorry people said that about Star. like we're all trying to enjoy the same alien robots and the way we see ourselves in them, and even if we interpret them differently it shouldn't be hard to respect others interpretations

Even if I didn't see it happen, I 1000% believe it, because again, this fandom is really weird with hc characters as femme and like i said, a lot of people tend to project their own identities into characters and get really upset when feminity is something ascribed to a character in a non joking or nonsatrical manner.

(I remember some people were getting mad at Ratchet being seen or portrayed as a woman/transfem and having she/her pronouns by fans. )

i probably wasnt in the fandom during that, but i believe it. while i'd wanna say it was probably dudebros, i wouldn't be surprised if it was actually other queer people. the people who are angriest the most at femme starscream tend to be queer folks which are so jarring. It makes me happy to see that lesbian/fem megatron (and starscream) are overall so popular.

So it wouldn't surprise me if I saw those same arguments for Megatron if it was also queer people. but i could also see it being dudebros who know nothing about transformers past Michael bay's scrap metal grave yard.

But regarding fem megatron:

Twitter is really the place that introduced MEE to lesbian fem megatron, and i actually really like it. that is one thing that i like about some secs of fandom, that femininity and identity is not assigned to body type. and fem megatron is pretty and i love her. but it doesn't surprise me that people got offended by that.

and it's shocking (but not shocking) that there was a whole discourse over that.

When it comes to starscream, every so often, I see people really getting in their feels and really getting mad. I ever have come across people who are like 'block me if you use she/her pronouns for starscream', and that is just off putting and misogynistic, and i won't even go into why that is, especially when it's not harming anyone. and i do believe what you're saying about megatron too. he's also a character people tend to cling on to and heavily project on.

(wrt to megatron and starscream, it has made me sad to see some megatron fans say stuff like 'im tired of starscream being portrayed as feminine, it's time for megatron to be feminine and starscream to be masc'. it's not common, but i have seen some megatron fans upset that starscream is feminine and they are vocal about it, because megatron is not?? but it's also okay to want megatron to be feminine without shitting on feminine portrayals of starscream or acting like fem starscream compared to Megatron is bad. if it gets to you so much make them both feminine or just make megatron feminine and Starscream masc without having to shit on feminine portrayal of him. as someone who likes both characters that used to make me feel guilty. i know this wasn't 100% the point of this ask and sorry for derailing. i just assume if we're talking about both, then i wanted to share this. and it's sad because, i haven't ever actually seen any femme!starscream fans upset at femme megatron, in fact those are the ones who mostly make megatron femme. at least I'm thinking of a few )

i'm glad i don't see it happen often, but whenever it does, it's just really really...ugh.

And i agree too, we should all be able to enjoy our interpretations, especially when fem hcs (whether transfem, queer femme, etc.,) aren't the majority in fandom content at all. And like at the end of the day, if you don't like someones interpretation well, that's fine. what's not okay is being shitty and misogynistic toward people. and honestly, i do have to raise an eyebrow at people who are uncomfortable at fem/femme hcs for characters like starscream and megatron as well. that's just weird to me. there's never not going to be anything weird to me at people vocally hating to see characters being femme. and i don't mean genderbent in harmful, cis-heterenormative ways. i meann getting mad at queer people for making characters queer + fem.

And for me , personally, I always thought it was interesting for aliens to be fluent in their appearance, gender. they are literally alien beings so it's not like they'll have the same concept of gender. one of my personal hcs, especially for miners is that they're all inherently 'nonbinary' simply because when they were created, they didn't have the concept of gender. so sometimes they flip-flop with their genders. and i think stuff like that is just fun to explore.
