If you want to know why the Loki fandom has drifted away, just look at what Disney/Marvel did to him.
He was incredibly powerful—they made him weak and helpless.
He was smarter than everyone else—they made him a fool.
He was a prince—they made him a corporate office drone. They literally put him in a cubicle.
Loki was an alien—they made him an ordinary guy.
He was flamboyant and colorful—they put him in beige. They actually made him act as if he was excited to wear a beige uniform.
The real Loki would never have tolerated a uniform of any sort, much less something so bland. He was never a soldier or a cog in the wheel. Loki is the piston.
Loki was a deeply wounded, angst-driven son with complex motivations—Disney made him an uncaring narcissist who suddenly sees the error of his ways (in one episode) and has a total personality swipe.
Loki was iconoclastic—they made him ordinary.
They took the most interesting and volatile character in the MCU and warped him into an Everyman role, and somehow everyone bought it. Apparently because they used the same actor with the same face—?
Really think about it. If another actor had started playing Loki for the series, they couldn’t have pulled it off. Series Loki is not the same character as Loki from Thor 1, Avengers 1, and Thor 2. He’s as different as the moviemakers in charge of the productions are. (The directors of Avengers 1 and Thor 2, Joss Whedon and Alan Taylor, simply had the grace and humility to take their cue from the original vision of Kenneth Branagh.)
If you don’t actually pay attention to Loki’s character, motivations, logical action, or his history, and you’re only interested in being entertained, I guess it doesn’t matter. This is just a superhero movie character, so who cares if they turned him inside out to conform with a simpler, less challenging archetype?
He’s their property, after all. They can use him however they want to. If they want to chew him up and spit him out as a naive, lovelorn mensch because that’s the Disney protagonist formula, they can and will. If they want to put him into a buddy-cop procedural, as if he were an ordinary human person whose shtick is a magic kit, they can.
A lot of you who are constantly defending the Loki Series are not really thinking about it. Maybe you’re just happy he has a show to his name. Maybe you don’t care; you just want more “content.” Maybe you don’t want someone spoiling your fun.
Maybe you think you’re being the loyal crowd by “defending” Loki. You’re not seeing that Disney did worse than kill him off—they unmade him. They put the God of Mischief into a blender with the Disney formula, audience response data, standard storytelling tropes, a limited range of plot lines, and a great deal of money, and out came this golem with Loki’s face on it.
You might revile me for saying all this because that’s easier than facing the truth or questioning the Powers That Be. There will always be people who can’t tolerate having their beliefs challenged.
I have seen nastiness on this hellsite toward people who question and protest what the majority accepts—but that’s just a reflection of the real world. It’s never going to work out well for those of us who see things differently and who don’t shut up about it. So, why do we keep annoying everyone with our dissenting opinions?
In my case it’s because I actually do care about Loki. I care enough to tell the unpopular truth, as I see it. Because, to me, Loki isn’t just an MCU character. He is representation.
He was a survivor of abuse and scapegoating by his own family. He was an outsider who defied convention and took on great challenges, despite everyone in his world trying to push him down. He shirked the role he was forced to play and chose to define himself instead. He saw the hate and scorn directed at him from all sides and laughed.
He struck out on his own into the unknown—which is incredibly hard to do, even if you had been given the support to believe in yourself.
The Loki Series did get one thing right: Loki is a survivor. He’s survived misinterpretations before, and he will survive Disneyfication. Maybe the public will tolerate a warped mischaracterization of him for a while before they lose interest, but the God of Mischief prevails. Thor1 Loki will always be there, smirking triumphantly from the shadows.

Die ultimative "Boerne gets hurt" Liste
Es ist soweit, die Liste, nach der keiner gefragt hat, wir aber alle brauchen.
Wir alle wissen ja, wie oft sich unser aller Lieblingsrechtsmediziner in Gefahr begibt, und wie knapp das eine oder andere Ereignis dann doch mal ausgeht. Ereignisse, die für viel hurt/comfort, angst und allerlei andere Fanfictions gesorgt haben.
Während meines rewatch Marathons habe ich es mir nun zur Aufgabe gemacht, die überdurchschnittlich häufige incident Rate des Professors mal für uns alle festzuhalten. Und weil manche Ereignisse natürlich traumatischer sind als andere, und wir hier natürlich stets wissenschaftlich arbeiten, habe ich das Ganze mal in drei Kategorien eingeteilt. Die Ereignisse innerhalb der Kategorien folgen jedoch keinem festen Ranking. Und natürlich gilt, für alle, die noch nicht jede Folge gesehen haben:

Doch nun, ohne ausschweifendes Geplänkel:
die Liste
Kategorie 1 - very hurt (klassifiziert als großes Ereignis oder eine Reihe von Ereignissen welche im Narrativ der Folge als sehr dramatisch behandelt werden und häufig auch Konsequenzen für andere Personen haben)
Limbus (-> Nahtoderfahrung durch einen schweren Autounfall, Vergiftung im Krankenhaus und davor, muss wiederbelebt werden, steht wirklich ganz kurz davor zu sterben)
Feierstunde (-> Nahtoderfahrung durch Vergiftung, Geiselnahme auf seine Kosten, steht wirklich ganz kurz davor zu sterben)
Gott ist auch nur ein Mensch (-> Geiselnahme mit Waffe, gefesselt und geknebelt, wird vom Geiselnehmer als Opfer ausgewählt, Rettung gerade noch bevor was Schlimmeres passieren kann)
Hinkebein (-> Waffe in den Mund und danach an Stuhl gefesselt, am Ende nochmal Geiselnahme mit Waffe durch andere Person)
Eine Leiche zu viel (-> niedergeschlagen und an Stuhl gefesselt, anschließend mit tödlicher Spritze bedroht)
Die chinesische Prinzessin (-> fast an einer Überdosis Kokain gestorben, einen Mord angehängt bekommen, in der JVA geschlagen wurden)
Kategorie 2 - moderately hurt (klassifiziert als mittelgroßes Ereignis, welches im Narrativ der Folge oft als teilweise dramatisch, teilweise humoristisch behandelt wird und manchmal auch Konsequenzen für andere Personen hat)
Propheteus (-> Geiselnahme am Anfang, niedergeschlagen später in der Folge)
Mörderspiele (-> wird mit einem Gewehr gejagt, wird indirekt bedroht und springt dann aus einem Fenster um zu flüchten)
Ruhe Sanft (-> wird von ein paar Teenagern gekidnapped und außerdem am Ende von Thiel mit Handschellen und Knebel in den Urlaub entführt)
Krumme Hunde (-> niedergeschlagen und ins eigene Kühlfach gepackt, außerdem die Szene in der Thiel ihn mit der Waffe bedroht weil er ihn für einen Einbrecher hält was einfach objektiv sehr hot war)
Tempelräuber (-> wird mit dem Auto angefahren und bricht sich beide Arme)
Unter Gärtnern (-> wird mit einer Schere an der Kehle bedroht)
Kategorie 3 - mildly hurt (klassifiziert als kleines Ereignis, welches im Narrativ der Folge eine geringe Rolle spielt und keine Konsequenzen für andere Personen hat)
Ein Freund, ein guter Freund (-> wird mit Kabelbinder an die Heizung gefesselt)
Satisfaktion (-> bekommt einen Hieb mit dem Säbel ab und muss mit 12 Stichen genäht werden)
Schlangengrube (-> wird in der Wohnung des Opfers niedergeschlagen, wird kurz aus Versehen im Kühlraum eingeschlossen)
Summ Summ Summ (-> wird in der Dampfsauna eingesperrt, war aber nicht direkt gegen ihn gerichtet)
Der dunkle Fleck (-> bekommt von Thiel seinen Zahn ausgeschlagen, wird ganz kurz in Brand gesteckt)
Es lebe der König (-> wird von Thiel am Ende aus Spaß in einen Käfig eingesperrt weil er seinen Bart beleidigt hat)
Höllenfahrt (-> wird mit einer Eisenstange niedergeschlagen)
Lakritz (-> Grenzfall: die Lakritz Szene spielt in der Vergangenheit und der Hurt ist eher emotional als physisch, wollte es aber trotzdem mit rein nehmen)
Damit kommen wir auf eine Anzahl von 20/45 Episoden, in denen Boerne irgendwas passiert. Das sind 44,4%, also in etwas weniger als jeder zweiten Folge bekommt der Professor was auf den Deckel. Und dafür, und für all die schönen Szenen die sich daraus ergeben, lieben wir doch unseren Münster Tatort ❤️

Switch Girl sucht Kontakte aus dem Raum Sachsen
Hey, ich bin Jojo (w) und bin seit 3 Jahren bereits mit der Szene vertraut. Seit gut 1 Jahr treffe ich mich regelmäßig auch mit anderen aus der Szene. Ich bin auf der Suche nach neuen Kontakten die Interesse haben, gemeinsam die Szene auszuleben. Natürlich sollte man sich auch außerhalb des Space's gut verstehen und auf einer Augenhöhe sich gegenüber steht. Ich würde mich selbst als direkte Person bezeichnen. Ich bin ein ziemlich durch strukturierter Mensch. Der Space ist also mein Rahmen in dem ich abschalten kann. Natürlich verarbeitet jeder in seinem Space auch Erlebnisse, welche das bei mir sind, ist erstmal nicht so wichtig. Bin aber offen darüber zu sprechen, nur sprengt es den Rahmen sonst etwas 😅. Im Space bin ich ziemlich klein zwischen 2 und 4 Jahren. Windeln trage ich dabei nach Lust und Laune. Ich bin kein Little was sich zwingen dazu lässt die Windel zu tragen. Ich brauche oft etwas länger Zeit um meinem Gegenüber zu vertrauen. Durch Zwang von Anfang an, da bin ich raus. Für mich soll der Space was schönes sein, ich möchte keine Angst haben etwas falsch zu machen und direkt bestraft zu werden. Ich bin sehr sensibel im Space und leicht verletzlich. Ich will meinem Daddy immer gerecht werden und bin stets bemüht über angepasst zu sein. Deshalb ist es für meine Psyche wichtig, dass jemand mit Ruhe ran geht und mich auch mal, wenn ich schon mal kurz frech bin, mich machen lässt. Ich hole im Space das nach was ich nie hatte als Kind.
Wie man beim Lesen merkt, habe ich durch aus gewisse Vorstellungen von dem was ich möchte. Als Mommy möchte ich meinem Little eigentlich im Grunde genau das bieten was ich mir in meinem Space auch wünsche. Deshalb sind meine Mommy Prioritäten fast gleich mit dem was ich mir wünsche für mich.
OK, lang geschrieben. Dennoch würde ich kurz noch mein Alltagsmensch dasein beschreiben... 😅🙈
Ich bin weiblich, 1.72m groß und bin schlank gebaut (ja zu schlank mit 48Kg 😅) in meiner Freizeit bin ich viel draußen und verbringe ich meine Zeit mit dem Reitsport. Jegliche sexuelle Kommentare zu meinem Hobby würde ich gern ausdrücklich untersagt bitten. Leider gibt es all zu oft solche unqualifizierten Bemerkungen zu meinem Hobby. Solche Menschen möchte ich nicht kennenlernen und diese können mir mal gekonnt den Buckel runter rutschen. Ja, man merkt, ich bin direkt unterwegs. Sonst lässt sich nichts weiter zu mir sagen, war ja jetzt auch ein langer Text... 🙈😅

Hiii! This question is kinda apropos of nothing but I’m curious: who is the person in your profile pic? Every time I scroll past it a little too fast I think it’s Alan Alda/Hawkeye haha
no worries (i think alan alda would be honoured, if i remember correctly, he mentioned meeting him once as a kid in his memoir). it's this fellow:
his name was conrad veidt, a famous german actor of the weimar republic, later escaped to britain and then the us to get away from the nazis with his jewish wife, Ilona Prager. he also starred in two pro-jewish films shortly after the nazis came to power in 1933 (the wandering jew, and jew süss, but i confess i haven't watched these yet, so i cannot say how well they aged) -- generally did a few films that were about Social Issues that came down on the side of the oppressed, including the woman's crusade, and the merry-go-round, as well as... (see below)
famous for some very important movies:
1. played the lead in the first movie to openly portray gay men (anders als die andern), which was produced by magnus hirschfeld and the institute of sexology in a bid to get support for legalising homosexuality -- it's free on youtube! also 105 years old, can you believe...
2. played the somnambulist in the cabinet of dr caligari, and generally was every vamp-girls/boys dream back in the day, playing in a lot of the german expressionist films and proto-horror films, and generally not afraid to play offbeat, uncomfortable roles that weren't about being an attractive leading man (eerie tales, the hands of orlac, waxworks, the man who laughs)
3. after he moved to the us, he was very happy to portray nazis to give them realism, and he plays major heinrich strasser in casablanca in 1942 (his second-last film)
i believe he was in a total of 115 films, but quite a few of them between when he started in 1917 and 1930 are lost (der januskopf, i think of you often....murnau, bela lugosi, and conrad veidt, in an adaptation of jekyll and hyde??? arghhh)
other fun facts, did occasionally crossdress and in fact this may have contributed a little to his first divorce, as his wife found him and a bunch of his friends wearing dresses one night after she came back from work -- notably conrad was in her new dress. she told a friend that this was the breaking point, but it may have partially been a joke. they did divorce though
was also at one point called the prettiest girl in berlin in print, good for him
was probably bisexual, although having said that i've actually never read why people think this -- so for now, he was a mensch and a great ally to a lot of people, a little on the queerer side in all things
i do follow a fair few conrad veidt blogs on here, but i don't talk about him often, it's one of those "am a fan, but keeping it mostly to the chest" kind of things with him -- however, as you can tell, very happy to give the Info when asked!

Happy spoopy day, friends and fiends 🎃
I am once again inviting you to check out my original queer fantasy series, Chronicle of the Spheres, featuring angels and demons and other stuff as well!
Book 1: Balances, is optional but it does give solid background on several of the major characters. It’s literary fiction about a stray angel figuring out where he belongs.
Books 2-4: The Shadow Prince (complete), The Sacred Tree (complete), and The Sword of Heaven (ongoing) are a set of interconnected events in which turbulent politics and supernatural forces bring an unlikely adventuring party together for a fetch quest that is probably a really bad idea, followed by a rescue operation.
There are also a bunch of short pieces just hanging around, fleshing out the world a bit or just embarrassing the characters.
Featuring, in no particular order:
An arospec character who is at the center of a growing polycule
Dragonfolk who get more dragonish as they get older (not explored much yet but it will be)
A thief with a chronic illness
So much PTSD
An asexual who makes a string of really stupid choices that probably turn out good for him
Found Family all over the place
A 5000yo cat demon who fully has the personality of one of the actual cats I have lived with
Heaven and Hell aren’t good or bad, they’re just places
Enoch runs a brewpub (Kit made sure I included this) and he’s a mensch
Demonslayer is a job and it’s not what it sounds like because of linguistic drift

Top 9 moveys of 2023, tagged by @kaijyutheater! I didn't watch as many movies as I would have liked but I did watch a lot of good ones! Tagging @bloodgutshighschool @dughole @hauntinghouse @kvetchs @overgrownroot @loveshack @legoguy and anyone else that wants to :-) Thoughts and comments below the cut.
Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance
One of Park Chan-wook's best. I really don't think (either) Sympathy should be compared with Oldboy because Oldboy pales in comparison. It's a gripping and anxiety-inducing in a way I've seen no other movie accomplish. My biggest complaint is that it does not have a good poster LOL.
2. True Stories
I have wanted to see this forever and hadn't really thought about it again until I was lucky enough to see it in a local theatre in 4k! I wish David Byrne had continued making movies but for this to be your first and only.. wow. No one loves the Texas jokes as much as Texans do. And I personally believe I can see Fort Worth from here.
3. Y.M.O Propaganda
Simply one of the best concert movies and musical performances. Rest easy Yuki and Ryuichi 🕊️
4. Female Prisoner #701: Scorpion
I think exploitation is a very interesting genre that's not very explored because it is by design pretty hard to watch. This is an extremely beautiful movie cinematographically speaking and it's made me quite interested in this era of women in prison, pinky violence, and sukeban film.
5. Neon Genesis Evangelion: The End of Evangelion
I finished Evangelion this year!!
I don't know if liking the original show finale is controversial or not I refuse to interact with the general People That Like Evangelion but this movie is everything that an alternate ending should be. I'm glad they were able to make it.
6. Joint Security Area
I think if this movie was made after the Vengeance trilogy and integrated what Park Chan-wook learned as a result of it, some of the plot beats would have been a little better. My main issue with the narrative is that I don't think the story needed to be framed as a mystery as there's a very clear doomed tragedy already expressed. That being said the story was strong enough that this is more of an annoyance than an actual issue.
7. Paprika
Great service to this to see it in theatres, the music melds with the movie melds with the music.
8. The Ascent
Devastating, not unlike a car crash you cannot pry your eyes from. This also made me realize how many of these top movies are unavoidable tragedies despite the great effort of the protagonists.
9. 1/2 Man (Halber Mensch)

headcanons for the solaire clan playing the best (worst) german board game ever: Mensch Ärgere Dich Nicht (part 2)
here is part 1 with the shaw pack and also where i explained the rules. but if you don't feel like reading all that, apparently it's pretty much just the german version of Sorry.
onto the headcanons
as mentioned before, Sam really likes this game so he's also the one to introduce the clan to it
when he did, Darlin saw their life flash before their eyes. they're so SICK of this game y'all
they still play for Sam, of course, but if you look closely you can see their eyelid twitch and their smile start to falter
they do their best to pretend that they're enjoying it
Sam pretends not to know but he does
Vincent and Bright Eyes have a bet going on to see how long Darlin can keep it up
so far the clan is at 46 games and Darlin has yet to crack
when Sam first brought it up William was DELIGHTED
he's a big board game fan
name a board game and he has it
so of course he also has multiple versions of Mensch Ärgere Dich Nicht
so he's also pretty experienced with board games. you think it's impossible to come up with elaborate strategies to win MÄDN? think again
is so serious about it, it's ridiculous
but he still has a lot of fun and isn't a sore loser
clan game night has actually been a mandatory monthly event since Vincent was turned, Will insists the clan needs "family bonding time"
Vincent absolutely hated it at first, especially during his angsty vamp teen phase
but he gradually came to enjoy it
he insists he's the master of all board games but god does he suck most of the time
when playing MÄDN he has two game modes:
1) he loses to Lovely on purpose because they "deserve the world", this means he purposefully tries to roll low numbers so Lovely can catch up to him and throw out his pieces. gets sulky if anyone else does.
and 2) he gets really competitive after being egged on by Bright but he loses anyway and pouts about it
Lovely is Always competitive. they don't care if it's their boyfriend and he's doing his best to help them win, they will throw his pieces out without mercy
of course they use Vincent being all sulky as an excuse to kiss him and engage in heavy pda. the clan is sick of it.
Bright is THE instigator. they love putting everyone against each other, it's their strategy
B: "what, so you're just gonna let Vinny snipe your piece like that, Fred?"
F: "well it wasn't that far along the board yet anyway, it's not a huge loss."
B: "wow, never knew you where such a push-over, see if that was me.."
F: "STOP. i know what you're doing, it's not gonna work."
B: "yeah, okay, whatever, go lose the game then"
V: "yeah, you couldn't beat me if you tried."
F: "okay you knOW WHAT-"
it works every single time and they find it hilarious
one time they even managed to pit Will against everybody else
they're part of how Darlin stays sane playing this god forsaken game. at least as long as Bright doesn't antagonize them
Fred is just trying to play the game normally, he doesn't understand why it always turns to utter chaos
it's "just a game" until Bright uses their instigator skills, then it's life or death for him
once furiously swore at Will because of it and was immediately mortified and embarrassed. Fred didn't play MÄDN at the next game night
Alexis insists that it's dumb and childish but sits down to play it anyways
she (not so) secretly loves it
just like Lovely, she gets incredibly competitive
she's pretty much the only one besides Will who doesn't fall for Bright's tricks
if she and Darlin were to play alone they would kill each other (affectionately)
on the rare chance Alexis isn't playing to obliterate everyone, she's playing to harrass Vincent
just completely zeroes in on him
watches him like a hawk to make him nervous while he's rolling the die, trying to get a 6 so he can put another piece in the game and when he inevitably doesn't roll one she just laughs at him
snipes all the pieces he intended for Lovely to throw out and jokes about how Lovely could do so much better and "marry somebody who's ACTUALLY good at playing Mensch Ärgere Dich Nicht"
sometimes Lovely goes along with the jokes and Vincent has yet to know a greater betrayal
overall the solaire clan doesn't play with as much brutality as the shaw pack but the passive agressiveness is INSANE

con: dentist called to tell me I have early stage periodontal disease like a fucking ANIMAL so I have to a) floss more b) get semi-expensive dental care because my shitbag insurance does not cover it
neutral: a side effect of this treatment is it whitens your teeth which I don't NEED but like. okay I'll take it.
pro: I have an excellent sick leave plan from work so I'm making the next two appointments at like 1:30 on a Friday and taking an effective half day
pro 1: the dental hygienist was a mensch and told me that one of the two treatment options was on sale and saved me like 200$ so. thanks Maria!
pro 2: the dentist is next to my old apartment in Queens -> guess who's getting Paraguayan food >:D

1. Merfolk war 2023 vorherrschend und dieses Bild, ich liebs einfach. So sicher ich Leo zeichne, so unsicher bin ich bei Adam und hier stimmte einfach alles. A good catch - egal von wem aus man es betrachten will ;)
2. "Das Opfer" wird mich auf ewig verfolgen. 😭❤
3. Feuerfisch!Leo - Ich glaube, ich muss es nicht weiter kommentieren. Die Farben, die Pose... ich bin einfach sehr zufrieden damit.❤❤❤ for @neverland-in-space
4. Vamp! Jan Pawlak (aus der Tatsache heraus geboren, dass Rick Okon in meiner Stadt für eine ZDF Produktion war - "Love Sucks" - es geht um die Liebe zwischen einem Vampir und einer Vampirjägerin [Jan ist, glaube ich, NUR, ein Mensch).
5. Werwolf!Leo!!! Ich liebe Werwölfe, mehr als Vampire und dies hier entstand während meinem Artober '23.
