“So what, you too good to have manners now” I remarked with a scoff, Lewis furrows his brows at my statement as he steps closer attempting to look intimidating. He don’t know where I’m from for him to be pulling that kind of stunt, he’d get shot up real quick.
“Says the little lady that came down with a bitchy ass attitude… Harry, you should know better to bring someone-”
“Listen here you big melon forehead, I hardly know you unless you God himself or my momma to be saying shit about me so I suggest you tone that shit down or-” I spat
“My Goodness, what’s all of the ruckus about” A deep voice spoke interrupting my speech, all of the anger that was building in my muscles had suddenly disappeared when a man a lot taller than Harry and Mr Melon here approached us with a lingering smirk on his face. MEET THE PARENTS
Okay so I've had this same Astarion x Tav idea floating around in my head for a while and I'm so surprised I legit have not seen anyone write about it! It's basically the classic meet the parents scenario! Yes I know we never see Astarion's parents and probably never will, they could be dead for all we know, but they are elves, a very long lived race so it's very possible they could actually be alive! So basically I'm gonna start a little fun writing challenge and tag three of my favorite Astarion romancers.

Astarion meeting Winnie's parents.
It definitely was not planned, Winnie literally had no idea her parents were even alive.
Her Gran had told her a long time ago they went missing off on an adventure after leaving their village and that they were very likely dead.
About 20 years later after their disappearance Winnie returns back to the ruins of the village she grew up in with Astarion accompanying her.
Astarion had actually insisted on venturing here in hopes of finding a lead on the drow wizard that plagued his beloved's nightmares.
The one who orchestrated the massacre of her village before kidnapping and experimenting on her.
There's nothing left but basically an unmarked graveyard. The amount of death and dark magic that seeped into the area has even brought some of the dead back from beyond the grave.
It is a horrifying turn of events for Winnie, actually seeing some of the people from her childhood roaming the land as lifeless corpses and then actually having to kill them herself this time.
Once the two of them were safe they took shelter in one of the old huts which just so happened to be Winnie's childhood home.
Astarion had to hold and comfort her as all the memories of her village's slaughter came flooding back.
At some point as they rested they noticed something watching them.
It was a wolf, with dark brown fur, eyes shining pink in the moonlight. A very peculiar shade indeed.
Peculiar but not unfamiliar as Winnie's own fuschia colored eyes stared back.
She just had to follow after the wolf and eventually it led her back to a small hut surrounded by some kind of dome-like barrier.
The wolf ended up shifting into the form of a tall muscular human woman who was none other than Winnie's long lost mother!
A short pudgy man with a lute stepped out of the hut as soon as he heard the tall woman shout. This was Winnie's Father.
Winnie was overwhelmed with all kinds of emotions with the revelation that her parents had been alive all this time!
Molly and Harry were their names.
Despite welcoming Winnie with open arms they seemed rather on the fence about Astarion.
At first glance Molly was overjoyed that her daughter had a partner so handsome and immediately began to babble on about what beautiful babies they'd make much to Winnie's dismay and embarrassment.
Harry was polite and willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. He wasn't as baby-crazy as his wife.
Then came the realization that Astarion couldn't pass their magic barrier they'd created to keep out undead.
Winnie was quick to come to Astarion's defense however, but learning that your daughter's lover was a vampire would be unnerving for almost anyone.
At first Winnie's mother even asked if she was with him willingly, wanting to check and see if she was charmed. It was honestly a bit ridiculous.
Molly was checking her neck for bite marks and nearly losing her mind and screaming when she found them there.
Harry had to calm down his wife, wanting her to give the vampire spawn a chance.
Things were a bit iffy from there on our, but eventually they came to accept Winnie's undead love.
And Molly expected a dhampir baby or two within the next few years, which Winnie had to remind her frequently that she was not ready for that and might actually never be ready for it.

Despite Astarion always telling her she was the only family he needed whenever she'd bring up the subject on if he thought his family was still around or not.
Yet the curiosity, the uncertainty just ate away at her.
His past was a mystery, not only to her, but to Astarion himself.
And they were elves for gods' sake. So it was very likely that they hadn't yet succumbed to old age.
What's two centuries to an elf?
But also she wanted her beloved to have someone other than herself to feel loved unconditionally by.
The human female had no idea how long she'd be able to run from her mortality.
With help from her tressym familiar Maddie to keep Astarion occupied, Winnie returned to Baldur's Gate in search of any old records of the Ancunin family.
Using her Hero of Baldur's Gate status to her advantage Winnie is able to get access to certain private documents no normal citizen would be able to.
She finds some old records on Magistrate Ancunin which immediately brings a grin to her lips.
Astarion's parents apparently left Baldur's Gate three years after his death.
From what little else she could find they moved to Evereska, but nothing told her if they were both actually still alive or not.
Winnie had her elven friends Vesperr and Arva do some investigating since they were constantly traveling nowadays and likely may be able to find out more than the human could.
She sent them a raven detailing her intentions and findings before returning home to her beloved vampire spawn.
He was a tad upset about her sneaking off for a few days and only leaving a note in her place, but Winnie was able to smooth things over with a little blood.
About a few weeks later a letter from Vesperr came back, telling Winnie that there were some Ancunins living in an estate just outside of Evereska. A couple in fact!
The human female could hardly contain her excitement, but she had to keep calm, especially when Astarion became curious about the letter she received.
He actually chased her around their home demanding to read it but Winnie wouldn't let him.
Soon after Winnie proposed that the two would go on a trip. A romantic getaway as she put it.
That was the cover she made up for going to meet his parents.
Luckily at this point the two had been able to locate the ring of the sunwalker so Astarion's days of running from the sun were a thing of the past.
The set off by carriage, taking Winnie's faithful tressym along with them.
Eventually at some point on the road Astarion ended up finding the letter from Vesperr Winnie had tucked away in her pack.
"A romantic getaway hm?"
The druid just smiled at her partner with a nervous chuckle.
Of course she apologized for lying and keeping secrets and said that she only wanted to make Astarion happy.
He forgave her and decided just to go and meet these people since the two of them had come too far to turn back now.
Astarion was getting more nervous the closer they got.
Perhaps this wasn't a good idea? What if they tried to stake him after what he's become?
Winnie would place her hand over his to comfort him after she noticed his stressed mood.
Winnie's tressym Maddie would also curl up in his lap and purr like a good little emotional support kitty.
Finally they would arrive at the estate where Astarion's apparent relatives were living.
They walked in, hand in hand before promptly being approached by who they assumed were the estate's security.
Winnie was quick to introduce Astarion, hoping to avoid any sort of confrontation.
Astarion's name had immediately made the guards freeze in place before then demanding he come with them inside.
They legit told Winnie she had to wait outside which Astarion was having none of.
If his lover was not allowed in then he would be leaving immediately.
The unfamiliar two elves muttered to each other in elvish as Winnie just watched in confusion. Every word coming out of their mouths sound like pure jibberish to the human female.
She then heard Astarion snarl back at them in elvish.
Winnie had a feeling they might have been talking about her due to her partner's very offended and frankly pissed off sounding tone.
The elven guards eventually agreed to let them both enter together.
Winnie was amazed by all the extravagant decor, almost getting distracted several times and having to be pulled along by Astarion who kept an arm linked around her waist.
Finally the time had come when they were face to face with his parents.
They were both insanely beautiful as Winnie assumed practically all high elves were, both adorned with fine silks and jewels Winnie had only ever dreamed to see.
Astarion appeared to have gotten his father's handsome facial features and his mother's luscious ivory curls.
Both his parents had different colored eyes his father's were golden while his mother's were green so the mystery of Astarion's eyes was still yet to be seen.
His mother looked over his face with pure shock before eventually bursting into tears.
She hugged him tight muttering something in elvish as she held him.
Astarion seemed to stiffen under her touch. Perhaps she was his mother, but at the same time she felt very much like a stranger.
His father eventually joined in on the hug as Winnie just stood there awkwardly.
It took them a few moments before the realization set in that their son was back from the dead.
His skin, cold to the touch, his eyes blood red and the fangs peaking out from behind his lips as he gave a nervous smile.
Immediately they jumped to a conclusion that the strange human woman Astarion was with was somehow the cause of this.
To which Winnie snarkily replied, "Do I look like a vampire lord to you?"
Astarion had to step in and explain what happened, he skipped all the unpleasant details to save himself a bit of pain.
While his parents seemed to become more accepting of his affliction rather fast, they barely batted an eye at Winnie.
And whenever they did look upon her it was with disgust.
Hells his father even assumed she was some kind of hired manservant! And tried to get her to carry Astarion's things in.
When Astarion said that Winnie was his lover, his mother gasped, acting as if she was going to faint.
It seemed theatrics ran in the family.
Things went rather poorly from there.
Astarion's father apparently tried to explain to him that bedding humans was not acceptable.
Winnie just stayed quiet and stood there awkwardly as she heard his mother claim that she probably used magic to tempt him into her bed.
It was then the pale elf snapped and told them off for not being there for him for over 200 years yet Winnie, a 'filthy human' had been there for him since the moment they met.
He made sure to let them know he wouldn't even have been here if it weren't for her wanting to reunite him with his 'family.'
Astarion eventually had enough and dragged Winnie out. He apologized to her very profusely afterwards.
He felt awful that she had gone through all this trouble only to be treated like trash by people she should have been welcomed by.
Winnie just smiled sadly and told him it was okay. It was worth trying.
The two hugged before leaving deciding to head back to Baldur's Gate and probably get drunk at the blushing mermaid.
Of course on their way out, one of the elven servants rushed after them with a letter.
It was from Astarion's father, apologizing for their behavior and begging Astarion to come back.
The vampire spawn simply rolled his eyes and tossed it out the window of the carriage.
Sometimes a real family was just a wild feral girl, a sassy vampire elf , and a winged cat.

i am deeply intrigued by and invested in a certified utilitycaster brand roast of rupi kaur
So here is the thing: I don't think she deserves a full roast, and also I have not read much of it, certainly not recently, so it wouldn't be terribly informed.
What it ultimately comes down to is that she got published, at age 22, because she was popular on Instagram, and the vast, vast majority of people at age 22 write extremely annoying poetry (source: I took two semesters of poetry writing senior year of college). If she hadn't been writing poems that were, fundamentally, mediocre but not egregiously bad in the unbelievably narrow sliver of time when publishing companies were looking for anyone with a big Twitter or Instagram or YouTube following and passing out book deals she would have not become known for this; she just would have moved on with her life as "girl who wrote some blah poetry in her early 20s".
I mostly use her as a touchstone for a particular style though that is deeply influenced by like, 2014-ish social media vibes: that all lower-case, heavy on aesthetic imagery, simple language, and weird enjambment choices which again isn't bad but it's very derivative, and tired, and at this point in time reads to me as "this person has not found their own voice and is also not terribly creative."
In the tags I just had specifically the jibe is more about how an overly poetic style in prose meta-writing is often, though not always, an indicator you're going to read some overwrought nonsense. I think there's a place for more purple prose - truly, I do - but in actual poetry I lean more towards a plainer, prose-like style and so when someone goes really hard on a poetic flowery style in prose and specifically in meta or fandom predictions it tends to lose me because this is simply not a good writing style for making an argument. (It also usually loses me in fic unless you're really good because the thing about writing fairly plainly and directly is that if you aren't a great writer it still comes out okay, whereas if you're not a good writer and you start throwing what my sister refers to as "wickety-wack" into it, it highlights every weakness).
Back to sort of roasting though: I do think that Rupi Kaur got praised for being straightforward when that's not unique and plenty of poets did it better, of which Langston Hughes was just one example. One of my favorite poems, which was read at my friends' wedding, is Frank O'Hara's "Having a Coke with You" and it's very conversational and straightforward. Like, the most damning thing I can really say about Rupi Kaur is that she doesn't do or say anything new nor impressive.

3. What fandoms do you write for?
Currently I write primarily Stranger Things with the occasion OFMD but I have written for Marvel (Stucky, Sambucky, Danbeau, gen), The Old Guard, and The Walking Dead. I tend to hyperfixate on a ship/fandom for a few years and then mostly move on when for whatever reason I no longer have interest.
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
Steddie completely overtook all my top fics, which is pretty wild. The top five are:

5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
Sometimes. I very much like to interact with fandom and fandom people. That's kind of the whole point. But I'm ultimately a person with a lot going on and treating comments like they're transactional (aka always owed a response) makes responding to comments feel like a job which is exhausting for me personally.
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
I mean, as much as I generally like a hopeful ending, there's a fair few. I mean, I was in The Walking Dead fandom where anyone can die so... lol
But a recentish one I can remember is one I don't talk about much or promote really bc I don't like to think about it all that often. It's just Steve sneaking back into the Upside Down to bury Eddie. Nothing else, just closure.
I wrote it when I was processing some feelings about losing my grandma's cat in a pretty traumatic way. I bottle fed him as a baby and always considered him kind of my cat too. Because of how and when it all happened, I had to take charge and bury him all alone, so I sort of used Steve to get some of it out.
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Lol I tend to do Happy Endings so... God, hard to pick.
I like the way I'd Burn the Castle for You ends because it's happy but it feels really grounded at the same time which I think makes it happier because it feels like they could actually have it.
But when I think of the happiest, I might have to go back to Stucky and We didn't need this to love each other, but I'm glad we get to do it anyway which is a fic where Steve and Bucky never went to war, find a way to live a whole life together despite how hard it was to do so, and then get married when it's finally legal in NY.
(Yes, I will keep using the characters getting married when it's finally legal trope because 1. I'm actually a sap, and 2. It's a good reminder that it's recent and hard-won.)
8. Do you get hate on fics?
Sometimes, not in a while
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
Well. Hahahhahaha
It can be anything from tender lovemaking to hardcore to hardcore with monsters and any mix or combo of those.
10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?
Crossovers in the sense of characters from different fandoms interacting? Not in a very long time, I don't think?
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Stolen where they attempt to pass it off as theirs, I don't think so. I have, however, had quite a few rude little fuckers repost it on Wattpad lol
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Yes! A few of my Stucky fics were translated into Russian.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
No because I'm terrible at asking for people to work on stuff with me lol
I am trying to get better at not thinking I'm annoying everyone all the time and actually talk about collabs and things. @sparklyslug and I are maybe going to do something if we can stop signing up for bangs lmao
14. What’s your all time favorite ship?
I can't answer this because the answer is always going to change based on whatever I'm into at the time lol
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
I can't point to any specific one because I genuinely don't know which ones I will and won't finish. BUT I do know there's never any conceivable way I'll finish all of my WIPs because just for Stranger Things, I have like 59. Maybe I'll say the Paramedic fic because I sort of lost the will to work on it after I took it down. It didn't really feel like there was any interest.
16. What are your writing strengths?
Dialogue. And fucknasty porn if we're being honest.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
I sometimes feel like I really struggle writing any interpersonal relationships because I'm pretty bad at them irl. I know ADHD bleeds into my work and in every single character I write even if they don't intentionally have ADHD traits because I'll never ever actually understand the world from any other perspective. I also have to resist overexplaining shit even in my writing.
I'm also bad at actually, you know, starting the task of writing sometimes lmaooo
Plus just, like, me and my insecurities. Which is more of a personal weakness but it def affects how I interact with some of my own work/responses to it sometimes. Also see above and hate asking for "help" and being a "bother" and the fact that only like a few of my stories are beta'd lol
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
I don't do it very often, esp in Steddie. But I've done it in the past (I mean, Bucky Barnes, so...) It's like anything else in writing. You do it when you have a reason to do it and you consider the why of it and how different readers might interact with it and how you WANT them to interact with it.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
MCR and The Used bandfic back on motherfucking Quizilla
20. Favorite fic you’ve written?
Not to flex with the fact that I have 131 works on ao3 and that I've been writing on there for over 10 years, but there are so many things I love and love still--or even things I don't love still and would do a completely different way but love the memory of, or even just the accomplishment represented by that thing--that it'd be impossible to pick just one.
But I'll talk about a few that come to mind -
Fave Steddie is still Cut and Changed and Rearranged and my baby bisexual Steve learning he is loved
I love the work and historical research I put into The Second Labor, my alt version of the first Captain America movie where Steve joins the war effort in a different way.
And I also love my Cyberpunk Stucky, Empires Fall, but Not Us and think of it fondly.

A deeper and more detailed version of the 20 questions for AO3 fanfic writers. Thanks @eqt-95 and @inkedroplets for the tag!!
1) How do you keep getting ideas for your ship/fandom?
Daydreaming. Writing fanfic is secondary to that. It was only in the past couple of years that it occurred to me that I could write some of it down and see what happens.
2) Which authors inspire you in your fandom, and why are they so freakishly good?
@searidings is my absolute favorite, the way she unravels the characters' emotions and angst is absolutely superb.
3) Aside from the characters of your main ship, who are the characters you love to write?
Ohhh I really love this question:
Cat in Inauthentic, as well as this ficlet and this one. I love her sense of humor.
Lillian in Darkness in All Things. For the same reason as Cat, I just love her snark.
Zor-El in Even Though You're Kryptonian. He kind of surprised me when I started writing him, and to this day I don't know if some of his lines are driven by genuine confusion or if he's just trolling.
4) Are there pairings or tropes you know for sure you'd never write about? Which ones?
I'm a never-say-never kind of person. There's a lot that I don't think I would ever write, but I've been surprised on where stories have taken me before, and may be surprised again.
5) What is your writing process and why is it cursed?
"Process" might be an overstatement...
I have a "scribbles" doc where I keep my ideas. I cull ideas often (though ideas often make their way back anyway). As I write more into the doc, a certain idea may get too big for it, so I spin it out into its own doc.
From there, I kind of go back and forward between outlining and writing. I write completely out of order. Which is why, so often, my multichaps are almost fully drafted by the time I publish chapter 1. I've usually already made it to the resolution point of the plot (meaning, no one's in danger anymore, the bad guy is gone, etc), though the final chapter often doesn't get written until later.
6) What is your favorite part of your writing process?
I love when I've finished the first pass of a chapter/one-shot, and I'm in the editing stage. The story really feels like it's coming together at that point, and it's before all the self-doubt starts bubbling up (that hits hard just before posting).
7) What’s the weirdest thing you’ve had to research for a fic?
A friend of mine is a professor in astroparticle physics, so I spent a couple of hours asking him about quantum mechanics stuff. But only a small portion of that ended up being relevant to the fic and the rest was just for fun.
8) Is there a particular writing rule you struggle with (grammar, spelling, tense, reality in general)?
When I'm first sketching out a scene, about half the time I write in present tense (it feels more like I'm writing a play at that point sometimes), but I publish in past tense. So I end up needing to do a bunch of revisions 😭
Also TYPOS.
9) What was your hardest scene to write so far and why?
Fight scenes are ROUGH, man.
This is probably one of those answers I'll change every time depending what's at the top of my mind. But writing out a fight scene - like in Even Though You're Kryptonian, Darkness in All Things, or It's a Metallo Life - gets surprisingly difficult if there are more than 2 people.
I know exactly how I'd shoot those scenes if I had a camera crew, special effects, etc. But it's hard making sure the audience is aware of where everyone is positioned, why they can/can't act in the moment, etc.
10) Have your characters ever done something you didn’t expect, changing your plot completely?
All the fucking time, man. From the very beginning, even. I was trying to have Lena still be angry by the DEO scene in So I Kept Pretending, but that didn't make sense anymore.
I actually recently had a fic idea dissolve because it wasn't vibing with the characters. Which is fine, it became a ficlet instead!
11) If you could converse with any of the characters, who would it be and why?
Absolutely Kara. I have so many questions about kryptonian culture and how it drives her character.
12) What are some of the tropes or themes that you find yourself returning to in your writing?
Trope-wise, I definitely return to the Rift again and again. I find themes around forgiveness and understanding to be really interesting. Can two good-hearted people with conflicting needs hurt each other while still loving each other? How? What does that mean for the aftermath?
I think that's part of what draws me to supercorp - the complexity of their relationship. How they can both be right, and both be wrong, and love each other enough to rebuild from the ashes.
13) What's your most important resource as a writer?
Coffeeshops and libraries. Getting into slightly busy, cozy environments, out of the house, really helps shake loose the stuff in my head.
14) Can you share some of your strategies for editing and revising your work?
Especially for longer works, I tend to put the work down (and circle to other works, or go outside, or whatever) before coming back to it. It helps to step away for a bit - it's easier to pick up on repetitiveness or unclear passages when coming back.
Though I always find mistakes in my stories much later, so I'm not sure I'm one to give advice on this anyway 🤣
15) Which is worse: making the summary, picking the tags, or the anxiety when you post your fic?
Posting anxiety is the absolute worst. If I leave myself in front of my computer I'll end up refreshing constantly waiting for the first kudos (if it's a one-shot or first chapter) or the first comment (if it's a later chapter) to figure out if I've accidentally pissed off everyone in the fandom somehow.
Luckily, my partner will usually pull me away to go on a walk or grab lunch or do something else to take my mind off it 💗
16) How do you define success for your fanfic - hits? Kudos? Comments? Bookmarks? Or just if you like it?
I only publish what I like. Sometimes I'm nervous that other people won't like it, but I will always like it. Stories that aren't going a way I like - even if I think the idea is cool! - will dissolve. Just recently I dissolved one that felt like it was a cool idea, but it didn't make enough sense for the characters.
Kudos and comments always make me feel appreciated as an author!! Sometimes I'll get a user subscriber out of it, too, and it feels like an honor that someone would want to hear from me more than once.
The thing that feels most precious, though, is when someone comments on how something made them feel (I love making people laugh at my dumb jokes, or cry when a story is supposed to hit emotionally), or when they pick up on something that I wasn't sure would get picked up on.
I tend to lean towards understatement in my stories. For me, the biggest success is knowing that someone recognized what I was going for, without me being overt.
17) Do you have a playlist for your favorite character/ship?
Alas, I don't. But given that Kara is canonically a Britney Spears fan and musicals nerd, I feel like my default playlist works 🤣
18) If fan art was going to be made from your work, which fic would you pick and which fan artist would you like to create it?
Oh gosh, I don't want to pick someone and create pressure, or not pick someone and make them feel bad. This fandom has so many great artists!
That said, some of my favorites do commissions, you can see everything I've commission here.
19) How many WIPs do you currently have?
1 supercorp & 1 rojarias (for @supergirlmayhem)
For me, 2-3 is my happy number, so I'm relieved to be down to this after being so high (I think up to 11?) for so long.
20) What's your advice to new fanfic writers?
If you're wondering why you can't find that story you want, it might mean that you're the one to write it 💗

1. How many works do you have on AO3?
That would be 158!
2. What’s your total word count?
Uhhhhh 1,905,572. Ahah.
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Recently and actively, Stranger Things and The Lost Boys. I've also been reasonably prolific for Gravity Falls and Rise of the Guardians.
4. Top 5 fics by kudos
This actually surprised me! Duskfall (a Bella/Tanya Twilight AU) is top of this list. And then the rest are more in line with what I expected: Raising Stakes (Gravity Falls vampire!Stan AU), Return, Rewind, Rewrite (Gravity Falls Transcendence AU), Reincarnation Blues (also Gravity Falls Transcendence AU), and A Semi-Normal Life (ditto).
5. Do you respond to comments?
Most of 'em, eventually.
6. What’s the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
I think that's gotta go to this one, where everybody's dead but the main character, who thinks it's his fault. I don't write a lot of angsty non-ambiguous endings, but this one's pretty explicit that things Do Not Improve from here.
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Uhhhhhhh. Hm.
Actually, it might be Hive! Which is a weird thing to say about a horror story, and yet.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
Thankfully I haven't! Although I did once get a tumblr ask trying to gotcha me for writing Jack Frost/Pitch Black, which was extremely funny, because 1) that ship is between two several-hundred-year-old immortals who tried very hard to kill each other for the entire movie and this person was concerned because they thought there might be an age gap between them, and 2) I had written that ship exactly once, at least five years prior to receiving the ask, as a favour for a friend.
9. Do you write smut?
Verrrrrrry occasionally.
10. Do you write crossovers?
There's a reason my profile on AO3 includes the line "I was born with the gift of crossover femslash and I intend to make it everyone's problem."
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Only, as far as I know, by the usual AO3-scraping suspects. Although someone did once rewrite a fairly unique AU of mine from a different character's perspective, using almost all the same plot points, and didn't breathe a word that it had been inspired by my fic or that my fic even existed, which, like. Man, I'm glad you wrote that thing and felt good enough about it to share it, but also a little bit what the fuck.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
A few times! It's always an honour.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Exactly once. Wouldn't do it again unless the stars aligned absolutely perfectly.
14. What’s your all-time favorite ship?
That's a trick question and one that I will not be answering at this time.
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you will?
I am going to finish Something Borrowed, Something Blues, so I guess that doesn't count. Uhhhh it would have been nice to finish Imbalance, but I just didn't have as much of a plan for it as I thought I had, and the more time passes the poorer taste the plan I did have seems to be in.
16. What are your writing strengths?
Personally, I think that characterisation is the big one. I can pull together a plot that makes sense and has an emotionally satisfying conclusion. I'm very happy with the way I write suspense/tension. And I've had a couple people now tell me that I do a good job of being descriptive without the description getting in the way, which I'm very proud about.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
Pacing! Action scenes! The Dreaded Middle! Not overusing italics!
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language?
I've done it, like, twice and I had to use Google Translate because I didn't speak the language and I felt so dirty. For anything more than a word or two, I'd personally either describe the character talking without actually writing out what they're saying (if the POV character doesn't understand what they're saying) or write out/paraphrase the dialogue in English (if the POV character is the speaker/if the POV character does understand what the speaking character is saying).
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Wrote for was probably Pokemon, wayyyyyyyyy back in elementary school. Posted was the Hugh Jackman-Kate Beckinsale fever dream Van Helsing. Thankfully I think that one is lost amongst the ruins of ff.net.
20. Favorite fic you’ve ever written?
It's still the road goes ever on. It's gonna be the road goes ever on for, like, a while.

5 - Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
It depends on the comment, but I don't respond all the time. If someone has a question, or I feel I need to correct them/steer them in the right direction, I'll answer, but I don't respond to most of the ones gushing/aweing over the fic, not to say I don't still appreciate them all immensely.

6 - What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Rom, My Beloved is my saddest/angstiest from my individual works, but there are some really angsty fics in my Loki and Markiplier Ego compiled works. I wrote it because Rom is my favorite Bloodborne boss and I just loved her lore, but tragedy abounds when you talk about a Soulsborne game

A lot of my fics nowadays have happy endings, but my favorite of my completed individual works is probably The Rescue of Magistrate Ancunin, because it's open-ended as to what could happen next but it takes a devastating moment from Astarion's life and makes it nice and a little silly

In recent memory, no, but I'm sure I have at some point. I usually delete it and move on

Very vanilla but very emotionally-charged. I have a tendency to focus more on the emotions of those involved and how they feel about their partner over how the sex feels

Not that I know of. I did check through the major sites when AI bots started scraping fics off AO3, but I didn't see anything then. If anything does come up though, absolutely let me know

No, but! Back when I wrote on Wattpad, I had some very lovely person ask to read my fic on Youtube. I agreed and I wish I could find it, because I just remember being so elated by it

Nope. I don't really know how to approach co-writing, and it's just not something I'm too interested in rn

I have a Breath of the Wild fic planned out, with notes and even a first chapter written out and future ones with little bits drabbled out, but when I tried revisiting it again, I was just so lost in what I had planned. I hope one day I can finish it, but it's not gonna be soon

I've been told that it's the little details I add that ground it more into reality, ie hair getting caught on earrings or a voice cracking while trying to sing

I feel like I don't describe things complex enough. I can describe emotions or scenery and dip in a little bit, but I can never get it deep *enough*, but I know that comes mostly with neurodivergences and comparing myself to others

18 - Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
I hate when writers have foreign words/phrases in the middle of a fic and don't translate them until the very very end. That means I have so pick up the context clues around it, translate it myself, or risk getting spoiled trying to find the translation
Also, if your character uses sign language, don't put it in italics or ' ', just write it out like if it was verbal dialogue. "They signed, '[fill in the blank]'" Describe the way the gestures are formed (sloppy, sharp, indecipherable, fast) to get across emotion, and also the expressions on their face, since sign languages are very heavily reliant on facial emotions to ass meaning to the signs themselves

I will say I am really really enjoying my work on I Come With Knives so far. It's a passion project and I have some very big, angsty things planned for the future that I can't wait to get to >:3

1. What's something that always makes you laugh?
Other people laughing makes me laugh. Deedee Megadoodoo. General cat silliness. Inside jokes from 20 years ago. And like, this is hard to explain without sounding like a monster, but like when people jokingly say mean things about babies, like pointing at an infant and being like "look at this dumb cunt" its very funny to me.
2. If you were a character in a movie, book, or television show, what genre would you live in?
Probably a sitcom. My life is not very eventful and most of it takes place in my living room.
3. What's something that isn't real that you really wish existed?
Teleportation. I want to be able to visit people without it being a whole travel fiasco. Also depending I guess on how resource intensive teleportation wound up being it would probably be a lot better for the environment than like airplanes.
4. What's the dumbest purchase you've ever made?
This is really hard to say because I buy a lot of dumb things. I used to buy a lot of switchblades, and that's very dumb. When I was very into miniature painting a few years ago i backed A LOT of kickstarters and i am still getting minis in the mail occasionally. I have enough minis that even if i paint every day they would last me years before i ran out. Also this wasnt a stupid purchase when i bought it, but i bought a cast iron griddle and then within a couple months we moved and since then we've only had electric stoves and the griddle is not compatible and it pisses me off because i was so excited about that thing. Oh and I bought a salad spinner like 2 years ago and have never used it even once.
5. What is an "everyday evil" you experience often? Something banal, but unfair.
I dont think I really do experience a lot of this? Mostly because I dont leave the house except for pink drinks so most of my human interaction is with bartenders and they are generally very nice. But right now I am dealing with the Massachusetts Department of Revenue and it's a whole annoying thing over less than $200 and like it's not a huge deal either way it goes but on principle it just offends me and upsets me that they will put resources into auditing people for $200!
6. A stranger is inhabiting your body for the day. What tip do you give them in passing?
Lift with your legs bro I don't want a back injury when i return to this vessel. Also I would tell them the particular way Eddie likes to be held, because IT WILL COME UP and also because if you hold him any way but the way he likes he will grab my face with his claws, and I like my face, so. Oh and I would tell them which of my hair products they should use for whatever length my hair is.
7. What's your favorite footwear, and why is it boots?
Funny you should ask. IT'S BOOTS. Because. I just feel very tough and cool in them. I like the way they feel around my ankles. I like leather. I like that the heel gives me a little boost I'm not gonna lie. I like that they protect me from the elements and if I needed to kick somebody they would hurt a lot more than sneakers would. I like their silhouettes. I like that they get cooler looking and more comfortable the more you beat them up. AND ALSO. Nobody wears nice shoes anymore man. It's wild. I am always looking at peoples shoes because I am obsessed and almost nobody is wearing goodyear welted footwear. Looking out the window at a restaurant for an hour the other day I saw a handful of Doc Martens, which are *technically* welted but its effectively fake, a lot of blundstones and ll bean boots, and maybe one pair of thursdays. So wearing nice boots is also satisfying because in any given room you will probably have the best shoes in the place.

What's your total ao3 word count?
1,794,075 words (I *know*... where did that come from?) I have a bunch of older fic on Live Journal and Dreamwidth that I keep meaning to move over for completeness but never take the time to do the work. So there's more out there...
What fandoms do you write for?
I mostly write for: Stargate Atlantis and SG-1, Harry Potter, Teen Wolf, 9-1-1. My dashboard says I have 23 fic in Shadowhunters but that's misleading because I borrowed Magnus and Alec for a Teen Wolf fic.

Writing happy endings is my goal; there are mostly happy endings out there. Not sure I could pick which one has the happiest ending.
Do you get hate on fics?
Not really. I get an occasional snippy comment about something nitpicky or a choice I made that the commenter didn't like.
Do you write smut?
Actually, not as much as I used to... LOL...

For the "Into a bar..." fest, I wrote a Stargate SG-1 and Check, Please crossover.
Have you ever had a fic stolen?
There was a 'thing' a while ago where someone stole hundreds of fic and tried to pass them off on Amazon. One of mine got scooped up but it was quickly taken down.

Lots of times. I have open permission for translations in my profile. But most stop by and ask.
Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Not really
All time favourite ship?
Oh, man. That's hard. I love my boys... I'm going to go back to John Sheppard/Rodney McKay in Stargate Atlantis. My first love.
What's a wip you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
A Disturbance in the Force - set up as a series and a crossover between Stargate SG-1, Stargate Atlantis, and 9-1-1.
What are your writing strengths?
I think I'm decent at dialog. And writing short. I've written lots and lots of drabbles in the past few years.
What are your writing weaknesses?
Descriptions. I don't always add the cues for what the setting of the story is.
Thoughts on dialogue in another language?
I borrow foreign words for 'alien' words but rarely use dialog in another language because I know I'm not good at it.

Stargate SG-1
Favorite fic you've written?
In Plain Sight, which is listed as a series but I was filling daily prompts for an AU fest. It's a Harry Potter story that I was very pleased with.

only if i have something to say, i don't really like replying just to say thank you. idk it feels like i'm trying to boost my comment count :| not that i judge people who do do that i just don't

probably The Fallen Oak? the ending is supposed to be somewhat optimistic but it is about grief and letting go so...yeah

maybe Home and Heart? that was just a two-shot but the whole thing was basically straight fluff so the ending was very happy. how the hell would you write boffins angst anyways. don't answer that

christ i've gotten way too many transphobic comments on Playing the Hero. i got this one really spiteful comment and peeked at their profile and it was someone who had written a ton of fics themselves. like if you're a loser with an empty profile and you leave hateful comments i kind of get it but if you're also a writer like...why would you do that...
9. do you write smut? if so, what kind?

10. do you write crossovers? what’s the craziest one you’ve written?
i write a lot of fusion fics but i guess the closest thing i've gotten to a crossover was Embers. Thorin enters the world of The Witcher to train for fighting dragons, etc etc. very self indulgent, boy playing with action figures premise but people seemed to enjoy it
11. have you ever had a fic stolen?
i actually still have the screenshots, i stumbled across this one hobbit fic way back when that was this weird frankenstein piece of cobbled together bits stolen from a bunch of different authors. i was just casually reading it and then i was like "what the fuck this is so similar to the first chapter of Feangren..." anyway the author got a lot of hate and deleted the story

ugh i mean i don't think anything will ever hit like bagginshield. i know i don't write for it anymore but it still feels like home a little

stop there are so many and i'm so embarrassed. if i had the motivation i would rework the plot for Children of the Apocalypse and try to finish it. i feel bad because it is a sequel and at one point i was really pumped to write it but just. the moment has passed

i think i do pretty well with like a sprinkling of humor. i can't do straight up crackfics anymore. maybe plot too?
17. what are your writing weaknesses?
probably finishing fics i've been getting better but sometimes i struggle to write long chapters. like i have to stretch to hit 3k.
18. thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
i feel like it only works if you know the language or if you just use short phrases

legend of zelda. in my composition notebook in third grade lmao

it's hard to choose but i have a soft spot for Where Heroes Lie. very self indulgent but it has such a fun mix of action, humor, angst, shlock. feat. my only OC that has healthy parental relationships.

1. How many works do you have on AO3?
10, which is wild because I think the last time I was asked this it was only 5.
2. What's your total AO3 word count?
109,801 words
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Exclusively Harry Potter, I can't imagine writing for any other fandom at this point. Within HP, I'm pretty exclusively jily, though I have dabbled in hinny and even some scorose in my early fic writing days.
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
some with arrows, some with traps

5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
I usually try to respond to everyone commenting right when the fic or latest chapter drops and I'll keep it up for a couple of weeks, but I often forget to respond if they come in any later. If it's a particularly long comment I will usually respond though, just because I'm so in shock that someone took the time to write something that nice.
6. What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
hmmm....I mean probably champagne problems (though it's incomplete). This is also my most polarizing fic I think out of everything I've written. I do think i am no mother, i am no bride will eventually usurp the fic with the angstiest ending though. Or my hypothetical remus lupin halloween fic I'm thinking about for this year.
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Ooohhh, I mean probably some with arrows, some with traps, right?
8. Do you get hate on fics?
Not really. I'd say the closest is people getting angry about how slowly I update certain fics. I'd also say a lot of people REALLY don't like Lily in champagne problems, which I sometimes take personally because I put a lot of myself in her lol.
9. Do you write smut. If so, what kind?
I am terrified to write smut. And I know I'll probably have to write it for something I have planned for a false start, not really sure how that's going to go.
10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?
I don't...but I do write the jily version of other pieces of media. Obviously SWA is much ado about nothing, and then I'm working on a Love, Rosie version of Jily for the Jilytober rom-com event right now.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not that I'm aware of!
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
I have not, but this would be the highest form of flattery if someone ever asked to translate.
13. Have you ever cowritten a fic before?
Never, but I'm definitely open to it!
14. What's your all-time favorite ship?
I mean... it's jily, it's gotta be jily.
15. What's a WIP you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?
I mean probably champagne problems. I think the ending I intended works if it's a continuation with the rest of the folklorevermore songs I had planned, but it's quite ambitious and I've lost the steam for the other stories. I'd like to wrap up champagne problems as best I can, but I don't think it'll be the ending anyone wants to read.
16. What are your writing strengths?
Dialogue, 100%. There's a reason SWA is all texts. I also think my Sirius Black is quite good and also weirdly very consistent across all my fics no matter the world he's living in.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
Finishing things...
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
If it was Italian or French I'd take a pass at it since I can speak both, but anything else I'd worry I was majorly mucking it up.

Harry Potter (specifically scorose)

I mean, it's some with arrows, some with traps. It's probably my most favorite piece of anything I've ever written. It's also the first fic that wasn't a one shot that I finished. There's a reason I keep coming back to the world with a false start and with a big cake, happy birthday.

How many works do you have on AO3?
58. I have been posting since 2017.
What is your total AO3 word count?
113,141 I mostly write shorter fics.
What fandoms do you write for?
Outside of Original Works, I mostly post Pokemon fanfic. Though I suspect JJK will overtake that in no time.
What are your top five fics by kudos?
1. The Journals of an Alien Mate - 218

Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
Yeah, I love responding to comments. Getting any comments at all is a big deal and I wanna let them know I saw them.
What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
"Too Late" ends with Hairi bawling her eyes out over the death of her boyfriend.
What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
I think the ending to We Meet Again is very happy considering everything around it. Thalia and Aokiji left on bad terms and run into each other again and at the end they make up and become friends.
Do you get hate on your fic?
When I was younger I got comments calling me cringe, but honestly I haven't gotten a single bad comment since. And those stories are still there sooooo....
Do you write smut?
All the time. Majority of my fics are smut. I love sex.
Do you write crossovers?
No... I'm really not into crossovers.
Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not that I know of. And I do check on occasion when I get paranoid. Honestly, I think because I mostly write self indulgent OC stuff people don't care to.
Have you ever had a fic translated?
Almost did once. They asked if they could but then about a year passed and they never did.
Have you ever co-written a fic?
In a sense. I RP with friends and write it out. My boyfriends write on occasion and feed me ideas. I never fully wrote something with someone.
What's your all-time favorite ship?
I don't ship Canon/Canon very often. My top c/c ships are Franky/Robin and Geto/Gojo. i could eat those up for ages.
What's the WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
Oeuf, all of them?? Most importantly, this big FF9 fic I have planned. Though I haven't quite started it yet. I really, really wanna write it. Like so much.
What are your writing strengths?
I've been told my smut is really sexy, lmao. I have been told I write fight scenes pretty well too which is awesome cuz I used to struggle with those like crazy.
What are your writing weaknesses?
Finishing things. On a real note, though, I feel that pacing is one of my weakest points.
Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
If they're speaking another language, why not? If the whole fic is enveloped in that language (I.E. writing a fic about people in Japan) then the whole thing should be in one language.
First fandom you wrote for?
Zelda. But I'll be damned if you find that fucker.
Favorite fic you've ever written?
So far, my favorite fic is Sleeping Over because it's gentle, soft, and very comforting. How Nanami acts towards Hairi despite all her nervousness and embarrassment is precious.

I mean at this point I think we have just accepted Jane into the Happy Valley landscape, so much so that its sometimes hard to remember she's plucked straight (or gay ;)) from another show. So I guess almost all of my works are crossovers haha

I think the happiest ending might be Undertow, just because I took us deep into the angst/pain, so the high was that much sweeter after that.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
I’ve gotten a couple…odd comments. I wouldn’t go so far as to say hate, which I am so thankful for, but a few people have shared some interesting opinions.
9. Do you write smut?
Yes. And then I hardly ever post it because I’m a coward. The smut I have posted I literally never look at again because I’m so embarrassed.

No, but that would be such an honor.

No, but I’ve always wanted to!!! I’m moots with some incredible writers. I just send out psychic vibes and hope they receive them lmao
14. What’s your all time favorite ship?
I have a few favorite ships (Hananene/Amanene and ZeLink are a couple of them!) and they just reorder themselves in my top 5 all the time.
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
NO. I’ve sworn to myself that every WIP will get its ending, and I’m definitely still working on that.
16. What are your writing strengths?
Hm. I guess my greatest strength might be creating atmosphere. At least, it’s what I give a lot of thought to, and a few people have pointed it out before.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
I write like there’s someone watching me from over my shoulder at all times. I feel like there’s an audience in my brain, so I end up being super critical of my own work, or hesitant to try things. It’s silly, but I’m trying to grow out of that. It’s my New Year's resolution!

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
I don’t have the confidence for it yet!

My computer wallpaper is a alternating slideshow of like over 100 landscape and animal photos. Idk I got them from the microsoft store free at one point. They change every 30 minutes. I like the variety.

For some reason when I got home today I decided to watch the amazing Reverse animatic and then since I am finally using a new browser Firefox it started auto playing and went to the Roaring 20s animatic, and my brain decided to listen to that on repeat the entire night. I do not know why.

Yeah I get home from work at 3:30, finish dinner before 4:30, shower and in my jammies by 5 pm. This is how I live my life haha. It is a bit cool today so I opted for my big pink sweatshirt from a campground.
how tall are you:
5 foot 4 inches just barely, which is 162.56 cm according to an online converter. I'm short.
piercings:
So my ears were actually pierced when I was like 3 or something by my parents' friend. No I don't think she asked permission haha. Anyway I had to have an x-ray done not a year later so the earings came out and never went back in. My parents religion we converted into though actually did not allow piercings, so I never got them repierced. No jewelry was allowed. Some of the more strict southern churches didn't allow even wedding bands.
tattoos:
None. Tattoos were literally the reason my mom made us leave the normal church and go to the cult one. Tattoos were not allowed. Maybe I'll get one some day but it's not something I really think I need. But nothing is stopping me anymore if I wanted to.
glasses? contacts?:
4 eyes that's me :) Got glasses in 6th grade yay. I'm not super blind but unless I'm pretty close I'm losing out on a lot of details. Had to buy special prescription safety glasses for my lab job. When I'm at home I don't wear them. Details not important.
last drink:
I literally only drink water. And I drink a lot of it. Gave up soda when I was like 8 because I was afraid of wasps getting in the can. I don't drink alcohol or juice. Maybe a hot cocoa or tea but that is very rare.

I like a forest green. But also I love pastels. I do not like red. You can thank my mom for that.

Nature related strategy board games. My favorites are Wingspan and Everdell but I have so.many.board.games. I got into the hobby because it was the only thing I could tolerate spending time with my mom with but now I don't want to do that anymore, so the games have gone unplayed since Christmas.

My 19 year old tortie Sally! She is deaf and a box of rocks and so expensive with her health problems but I love her to bits. She's my baby and has been with me through everything.
do you have a crush on anyone:
I mean I had crushes in school but, oh shocker I was never allowed by my parents to date. And even then it had to be a fellow pentecostal and I sure as hell wasn't going to do that. I was too bogged down with family issues to ever consider it even after I left. I don't know if I'm capable of loving someone? Idk I have always had a huge identity crisis of who I am and what I want. But I also don't want to be alone forever. It's complicated.

Height: 5'7 or 170cm
Last thing I Googled: Definitely something related to knee joint,because I'm finishing slides for my class.
Amount of sleep: Not enough. In all seriousness: usually around 6h, but I know I need more (and I can feel it).
Dream job: Professional Depeche Mode fan/Eurovision expert (On a serious note: I don't really know.Not sure if I even have a dream job)
Favorite song: I could make a playlist of my top 10 or 20 favorite songs ever. So this shall be my favorite song by my favorite band: Higher Love by Depeche Mode.
Movie/Book that Summarises Me: As I'm going to mention it later, I have many layers & don't think there is one specific movie/book that sumarises me. Let's say a movie: Amelie, tv show: Dark, cartoon: Daria, book: any of Banana Yoshimoto's books (that are translated into English).
Favorite Instrument: A's hands, his long fingers in particular. Ok pretend that you did not read the first sentence. I guess it is old fashioned synths. Like the ones that were mostly used in the late 70s and through the 80s.
Aesthetic: I call it "Depends on my mood and season if the year" haha. But if we let the girl dream it is: 80s /cottagecore/goth or just so called "dark" aesthetic. What can I say? Human onion with many layers lol.
Favorite authors: Banana Yoshimoto is my number one. I also like Taylor Jenkins - Reid, Aimee Bender, Jurga Ivanauskaitė, Gillian Flynn.
Random Fun Fact:
* I can't swim.
* I went to my French exam totally unprepared (without any revision) and got 80 points out of 100. It was an A level exam, by the way. However, after graduating from high school I've been rarely using the language so I don't know about the state of my skills.
* Twice while traveling I sat by a random person & started a convo just to pass the time. Both times, after like half an hour we realized that we're Lithuanians... who were speaking with each other while thinking that we're foreigners.
