Resident evil fans going "I love evil women" when it's Lady Dimitrescu because she's sexualised by the fandom but hating Mia with completely unwarranted vitriol when she's a human who made Mistakes. Do I need to keep saying it.

debbie in season 1: is literally introduced as a scammer, kidnaps a baby, creates a weird elaborate plan to spy on her sister’s boyfriend, blackmails her sister’s boyfriend, knows all about lesbian sex, wants a baby really badly
debbie in later seasons: scammer, loves children (has a baby at 15), can be obsessive and kind of a stalker, manipulative, lesbian
debbie haters: she changed so much😡😡

ellie is literally a trigger for him. having a little girl around that he’s responsible for again, and especially once he starts to become attached to her, it brings up all this trauma he’s been avoiding for the past 20 years
that’s why he lashes out when she presses him on the issue rather than actually engage with her arguments, that’s why he tries to leave without saying goodbye, that’s why the dreams and anxiety attacks start piling up and why he can only remember the times he was lacking as a guardian. he hasn’t dealt with any of this at all for 20 years and now it’s all happening again, and what’s more is it’s happening over and over
and maybe at a certain point he started to try to think of it as his absolution, just get through it and deliver her and then you’re allowed to forgive yourself for everything. but then he becomes convinced he’s personally traumatizing her and that he’ll get her killed, because he thinks that’s what he does. not a guardian angel but the grim reaper
and if that was what was true to you, wouldn’t you think you were being selfish to keep her around just because you were attached to her? you’d think that if you allowed your love to tie the two of you together it would be her death sentence

Around the time Amity starts revealing more details about her childhood to Luz and Hunter, Odalia starts getting very disturbing oracle dreams about what might happen to her if she decides to visit the castle 😁
LMAO. one of my favorite stupid headcanons for canon toh is hunter terrorizing odalia between eclipse lake and hollow mind as a sort of "uh, sorry for trying to kill you and threatening your luz" peace offering to amity. i like to imagine he could find time to do something similar here. he's a resourceful dude!

So based on the interview going around twitter, the whole semi plot was phoebe's idea of a common MIL fantasy of your DIL loving and craving your approval? But the actual execution... yikes. it seems more like something Ted Bundy would dream. Like it was just the wish-fullfillment that the person who has been indifferent to you for years, hurting your feelings, is actually deeply obsessively in love with you! Then you get to be the cold and indifferent one to hurt them back.
P U T A N G I N A M O K A
*pinches my nose bridge* not you, anon. who deigned that psycho interview-worthy? get help asap
do click on that db write-up i linked, before you proceed please and thank you
flinched as soon as i saw @suika28 tweet that about 30 (?) minutes before the finale aired. that's me who admittedly has known her WILD history. the nerve to admit queerbaiting:
“they don’t have mutual liking of each other but rather, the mother-in-law hates the daughter-in-law’s affections. […] the homosexual story didn’t develop, don’t worry.”
i guess that's the one consistency im sunghan has. she does not care.
after all, when the production was still <durian fairy>, streets were saying it's a romance between the two and she put out a statement definitely disavowing that. the third teaser came out and, well, the seas parted; the sun was rising in the west! in a stilted ensemble, jang semi was the only one consistently getting to show development... and by that, i meant baek doyi was considering her confession every waking moment.
despite south korea being its usual meninist self, ~the couple with the epic love story~ from my perspective was thriving. such unconventional yet ardent affection resonating with its found audience. garnering international attention & support for the actresses who are both generous with the fanservice. fun times.
then, the nightmare aka the second half came out to be.
you already said it, doyi's tragedy / comphet heel turn 'twas all to hurt [semi] back. to insult decades of feeling unlovable. i'll walk it off, eventually, but that nasty backhand might as well be directed at me.
to be clear: i do not blame the characters, they were used as mouthpiece - puppets to im sunghan's innate, did-not-even-have-to-think-about-twice hatred of not just lesbians but women in general. nor do i blame the leads, they've evidently shown more enthusiasm to go beyond for semidoyi; how could they have foreseen the first half was just a sick dare?
makjangs are Not the place to go to if one wants some moralizing from a kdrama but who thinks funding sweeping harmful generalizations is all okay???????

another thing i feel bitter about the aup manhwa adaption is that fact casey was portrayed to initiate her attack at ludger first during the baltanung arc and the delica arc when it wasnt at all the case in novel. although the hostility was indeed only one-sided from casey, ludger was still the actual aggressor. his act of making the first move was meant to symbolize his determination to burn the bridge and leave no room for negotiation/reconciliation. it drives me up the wall that manhwa readers are blaming casey for not investigating the delica incidents properly when ludger was the one who used everything in his power to commit obstruction of justice and take all the blame himself. ffs.

amecareth is a monsterfucker? context? <3
OH god the context for that one is a series of fantasy books written in french by Anne Robillard, Les Chevaliers d'Emeraude (the Knights of Emerald in english, the 12 book series has been translated in english (!!rare thing to have happen) and is available as ebooks on her website but I don't really recommend them).
I'm going to put a content warning here for rape even though I'm not going to go into graphic detail.
The Big Bad Evil Guy, Emperor Amecareth of the Tanieth, has a hobby called "raping non-Tanieth people to have hybrid kids and have them learn magic and have a gaggle of superpowered evil kids to take over the world".
I think the Tanieth are meant to be beetle-humanoids ? But their home was once compared to an anthill so they're just ant guys in my brain. Little funny ants who are super tall and will kill you.
The manner in which Amecareth is written is very "he's evil and he rapes people for shock value, with 0 care attached to those kinds of storylines", and rape is rarely a subject I enjoy writing about, so I was just... writing a fanfic where he really is just the Tanieth equivalent of a monsterfucker, and doesn't rape people. Also he's the Tanieth equivalent of a very lost 20 year old in that fic.
I think he could be an immensely interesting character while still being an evil imperialist motherfucker (literally) without the need to go "yeah he's a rapist to tell you he's evil in a Shock Anecdote !"
But that would just loop back to my general gripes with Anne Robillard's writing - I think there's often very little care or substance on whatever she's writing/implying at any given moment. Amecareth being a rapist could be a useful character bit in the hands of another writer. I don't want to write that, as I don't think I have the skill to do so currently, so I'm chucking it out in the waste bin.
Now, realizing that political alliances with all sorts of human and non-human people is SUPER USEFUL if you HAVE KIDS WITH THEM ? and THEN using these kids as a way to give more power to your evil empire ? THAT's what I want to write about, and that's pretty much what "Amecareth is a monsterfucker" is about, if we add onto that first love and getting his ass handed to him.
A brief summary of the fic would be :
"Amecareth gets thrown out of his home by his father the emperor of the Tanieth for being too ambitious for his own good, and is told to go invade a southern continent about it on his own if he's THAT smart. Once there, Amecareth begins studying the people living there, finds love, war, and death in rapid succession.
This is the story that led to Enkidiev's First War against the Tanieth."
