Who Will Buy My Memories?
Prompt: Taxed | Word Count: 1000 | Rating: T | CW: Language | POV: Eddie | Pairing: Steddie | Tags: Eddie Munson Lives, Established Relationship, Welcome to the 90s, Fluff, Corroded Coffin on the Road

"What do you mean, I owe back taxes?" Eddie asks, pressing the receiver of the payphone closer to his ear. As if that'll make him hear Steve differently.
"The letter says you didn't pay them. They're overdue, from, like, three years ago," Steve says, and Eddie's sure that's not right. He doesn't want to pay taxes, but they do. He pays under protest. Not, like, legally. But in his heart. Point is, he pays. Jeff makes sure they all do. For sure. Surely, Eddie's hasn't slipped through the cracks. Even if Jeff missed it, Steve would have caught it when he did their personal taxes.
"Did you call them and ask?" Eddie asks.
"Call who?" Steve questions, and Eddie can picture Steve's face scrunched up. Can hear it, somehow. He really misses him.
"The IRS."
Steve lets out an exasperated sigh, "No. I didn't call the IRS for you. For one, why would I know what your tax fuck-up entails?"
"You do our personal taxes!" Eddie interrupts, but Steve keeps talking, ignoring him
"And two? It says right in the letter that for someone else to call, you'd have to submit, like, a signed statement. Granting permission to discuss it with a third party. It's the law, Eddie."
"I'll do it. I'll do it right now," Eddie says.
"I'm sure you would," Steve laughs, "Is Jeff there? Or Goodie? Hell, Gareth? Somebody else that might know more?"
Eddie presses the speaker into his chest, and screams across the parking lot, just as Goodie's walking back to the van, arms full of snacks and a precariously teetering six-pack of beer.
Goodie drops the stuff on the seat, then turns and puts his hands up, in a what the fuck question, and Eddie just waves him over, frantically. He can't shout across the parking lot about this.
Luckily, Goodie starts to saunter over, but he damn well doesn't get in a hurry about it, and as soon as he's within range, Eddie shoves the phone at him, not even telling him who's on the other end.
"Steve," Goodie says, and Eddie grins, of course Goodie knew who it was without having to ask.
And then Eddie watches as Goodie listens, nodding along. Eddie has shoved his thumb in his mouth, and is biting at his nail, nervous.
Finally, fucking finally, Goodie speaks, "Jeff filed them. I'll have him call the accountant."
And that's it. No concern about Eddie for sure getting sent to prison for tax evasion. Nothing.
Then, he's handing the phone back, and walking away, like he has no worries over Eddie's financial well-being.
"Well?" Eddie asks, like maybe Goodie told Steve something he didn't hear first-hand.
"Jeff filed them," Steve repeats.
"I'm going to prison. I always knew I'd end up there, I just didn't think it'd be for something as fucking lame as not paying my taxes. I was accused of murder, if you haven't forgotten. I sold drugs. I stole an RV, once-"
"Technically, I think I stole an RV," Steve counters.
"Please, like you could hotwire a car."
"I could now. I watched you do it."
And Eddie grins, because the banter is soothing, normal. He just misses Steve a whole fucking lot while they're on the road.
Steve keeps talking.
"Taxes will get ya. Every damn time. Just ask Al Capone," Steve says drolly, not taking this situation seriously at all.
"Steve…"
"Oh, wait," Steve says pausing, suddenly serious, and Eddie freezes, "it says right here in the fine print that they're giving you the Willie Nelson treatment. Seizing it all. The furniture. Even your guitar. Selling it all off."
"That's not funny," Eddie says, but Steve sure is laughing.
"It's a little funny," Steve says.
"It's not. Who will buy my memories, Steve? Who?" Eddie asks, and Steve's laughing in his ear, but it's not funny. So, Eddie keeps talking, "And you're wrong. They didn't get Trigger. His guitar. I read it in the paper, and if you love me, you'll hide Sweetheart if they come to the house."
"Sweetheart is with you," Steve says.
Okay, that's true.
"Well. Fine. But the thought still stands."
"Okay, I'll hide the best of your loot, and after that, I'll expect to see you on an infomercial, shilling an album to pay off this alleged debt."
"That wouldn't be very metal, shilling my art between Jack Lalanne and Ron Popeil."
"Then pay your taxes in full and on time," Steve snarks.
"I did!" Eddie argues. He's sure he did.
"Does it say how much I'm on the hook for?" Eddie asks. It can't be that much, because while they're doing pretty good right now, they're not, like, rolling in the cash. Not yet. They're still traveling by van. A nicer van, sure, but still a van.
"It doesn't," Steve says, but then his voice goes soft and kind again, "It'll be fine," he promises, "It's probably a small error. No big deal. Just. Don't ignore it. Okay? I'm officially putting this in the 'actually pay attention to' pile."
"I will. We will," Eddie promises.
"Good. Now, tell me about South Bend," Steve teases, and Eddie looks around. Steve always asks, and Eddie always tells him something mundane, something true.
"Well. I miss you," Eddie says. "And someone drew a dick on the glass of the phone booth," Eddie offers.
"Is it a good dick?" Steve questions.
"Not really," Eddie admits, "not as good as yours."
"Oh, the charm," Steve says dryly, and Eddie leans his head against the glass, against the Sharpie'd-on aforementioned dick. They only have tonight's show here in South Bend, and then another two days from now in Fort Wayne, and then they'll be home for a whole month. He can't fucking wait.
"Anything else of note? Besides the dick?" Steve asks.
"Well, it's in this state called Indiana. I'm not sure if you've ever been…" Eddie trails off.
"Sounds familiar," Steve flirts and Eddie smiles.
They're almost home. Just a few more days.

Hi!!! I have mildly reigned in my Clarkson music thoughts:
I think Wayne would be pretty set in his ways with the music he likes. Country, bluegrass, folk music. All very acoustic-based. Lots of lyrics about travelling and wandering. Songs that are probably very sad too.
Some musicians: early Bob Dylan, Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, Patsy Cline, Gram Parsons/The Byrds, James Taylor.
He’d be pretty chuffed at the idea of a bunch of his faves forming The Travelling Willburys. They released their first album in 1988 (which Eddie buys him).
I don’t know why I’m envisioning Scott as liking a lot of female singer-songwriters from the 70s and that’s where there would be an overlap with Wayne’s music tastes. Like Wayne loves learns that Scott likes Emmylou Harris and Linda Ronstadt. He likes Carol King and Joni Mitchell the most.
Buuut I also think Scott would be into more contemporary stuff for the time, considering he’s a middle school teacher so he overhears a lot of music talk and has needed to confiscate a Walkman or two in his time!
Talking Heads, Peter Gabriel. I could totally see him liking the techo-whatever (I don’t know music terms) of groups like Devo too.
I'm now resisting the strong urge to write a ficlet of Scott making Wayne a mixtape!
Anyway, I'll stop. Hope this was okay 💖
Okay so it took me a while until i actually had time to answer this with the attention it deserves but THANK YOU I LOVE EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS. I will now be obsessively thinking about Scott giving Wayne a mixtape bc holy shit that is the most adorable thing ever i am screaming into my pillow!!! He'd be all embarrassed about it like "i know it's something silly that all my middle schoolers do but those songs made me think of you and i wanted to share them with you" (idk if they're already officially together or still in that awkward are-we-dating-or-not phase but eddie would be watching this interaction from the couch like 👀👀👀👀👀👀 and tease wayne about it for the next 100 years. i would devour any fic about this tbh)
And i'm so glad you agree with me about Wayne being a James Taylor sad country bluegrass man! I can also definitely picture them listening to Joni Mitchell together i love that for them <3 There are for sure some artists in this list that i'm gonna have to check out, so thank you so much for sending me so many great and well thought out ideas ily! <333

So no pressure at all intended, but am I allowed to ask for Appalachian!Eddie headcanons? Or Steddie headcanons with a ✨️ sprinkle ✨️ of Appalachian!Eddie? Or Appalachian Munson Family headcanons! You've awoken a beast in me that craves this version of Eddie. 🥰
Yes, of course!! I'm physically incapable of shutting up about this, so you giving me an excuse to talk about it is wonderful. I'm going to take this in a slightly different direction and talk about all the Munson Family Lore (TM) that I couldn't necessarily fit into the first chapter of the big ass Eddie backstory, but it is all canon in my brain and my little universe.
(I promise I'm working on getting chapter 2 up!)
Anyway, in no particular order, have some of My Thoughts (started out as family lore and devolved into Steddie. I'm all over the place, it seems!):
Both of Eddie's parents are originally from West Virginia.
They had Eddie at 16 and dropped out of high school.
They had a quick courthouse wedding when they were 17. Wayne was one of the witnesses, and Eddie's mom's sister was the other one. They jokingly asked the judge if Eddie, six months old and dressed in a tiny suit-patterned onesie, could be one of the witnesses when Wayne was running late.
Eddie's dad's side of the family is Baptist, and his mom's side is Jewish. Neither one of them are particularly observant, so Eddie grows up with holidays as more cultural/family traditions, rather than religious ones.
His mom's family did not approve of the marriage. They thought his dad was up to no good. His mom doesn't really talk to her family after that.
There is a Reason(TM) why Wayne and Eddie's dad don't talk. Yes, it's a spoiler.
Wayne is about ten years older than Eddie's dad. He enlisted in the Army as soon as he turned 18 and was shipped off to Korea. When he came back, years after he got plopped back in the States, because he had to piece himself back together, he sees that his little brother dropped out of high school and has a wife (not legally, not yet) and a baby on the way.
Wayne and Eddie's dad's father was a coal miner. He also just sucked as a person, and he died when Wayne was around 17, so he didn't feel as guilty for leaving.
Wayne was a truck driver for years before he settled in Hawkins. He starts off doing construction there before he starts working at the plant.
Both of Eddie's parents are addicts. They tried their best, but they absolutely were not equipped to handle a kid.
All hail Dolly Parton. That's it, that's the thought. Eddie's parents (and Wayne) love Dolly. And a bunch of other old school country artists, like Loretta Lynn, Johnny Cash, and Willie Nelson. They just sort of get it.
Eddie's got an accent, but from state-hopping so much as a kid, it sounds more pan-Appalachian than anything else. His parents keep their vernacular from West Virginia, but they'll change it up for wherever they're staying. Anything to not draw attention to the fact that they're new in town, anything to keep a low profile.
Eddie likes reading Twain books. They're not written in his dialect, but he thinks it's cool that they're written in dialect at all. They're really fun to read out loud.
Eddie can't, for the life of him, say "tobacco." And I wrote a fic about it.
Eddie's mom called him all sorts of pet names growing up, but the one she used most often was "sugar." Eddie's dad was the only person who called him "Ed."
Neither one of Eddie's parents could carry a tune in a bucket, but that never stopped them from singing to him growing up. Wayne can't sing, either, but he doesn't try.
Steve thinks Eddie's accent is cool and also hot.
Eddie thinks it's a little bit funny when Steve can't understand conversations between him and Wayne. They talk so fast and the vowels and vocab are different and he is lost. Eddie will fill him in after, though.
Eddie's accent automatically kicks in when he sings lullabies.
Eddie's dad's name is John, and his mom's name is Rebecca.
"Edward" was the only first name the two of them could agree on, though they never call Eddie that, and his middle name is his father's name.
That's all I have off the top of my head! Everything else is kind of a spoiler, so I'm avoiding talking about it, at least until I get more chapters of the big ass Eddie backstory out. Thank you so much for asking, this was so much fun for me!!

J2 Gold Panel DCCon 2022
They are both looking so handsome! And Jensen is wearing a leather jacket 🤤🔥
First question up is: what is their theme song?
The fan mentions that their theme song is Don't Stop Believin' by Journey, and Jared says that Separate Ways, which is also by Journey, is pretty badass then says he's gonna go with Faithfully also by that band because while he's not a musician he’s on the road a lot.
Jensen also goes with a road-themed song: On the Road Again by Willie Nelson. He says he’s been driving a lot the past couple weeks (not to nitpick but he was in Canada filming recently so timelines not a 100% accurate on his part) to see family because they're close enough it’s only like 4hrs from where he works and while driving back and forth he’s been playing a lot of Willie Nelson and that song has come up a couple times. He also mentions that he and Jared travel quite a bit and with the pandemic that wasn’t possible so it's made him realize that he truly enjoys being out on the road.
Now for absolutely no reason whatsoever I'm gonna go ahead and point out that Jared has been in Santa Fe the past couple of days just a small drive away (around an 1hr) from Jensen. Jensen who has conveniently provided the information that he's been driving a lot. Y'all do with that info what you want 😇
Continuing on a fan who owns a bakery wants to know what is their favorite type of pie? Jared says pecan pie a la mode to which Jensen in total husband fashion says that what Jared actually likes is a little pecan pie with his ice cream 😆
Jensen answer is either banana or coconut cream pie...so of course Jared makes a joke about bananas and coconuts. x
The third question is not a question it’s a very stupid joke but the boys banter with the person is funny so I’ll include a timestamp. x
Jensen was still thinking about the previous fans question about pie so he asked them what the best pie they make is, the answer is pumpkin. Jared makes an inappropriate joke, I had to pause 🥧
*sigh* Y'all we’re never gonna be free from prank questions. The next question is what's the best prank they've pulled on set together. Y’all know the drill they never planned pranks they just saw the opportunity to mess with someone and would take it. They say the only pranks they had planned were some they wanted to pull on MC but didn't get a chance to. x
Can they tell the story of how they met? 🥰
I know y'all probably already know the story, and I have written about it before, so this will be the quick version. Long story short they meet during auditions on the network test. By that point, Jensen had read originally for Sam but he told tptb that he wanted to read for Dean, and Jared had read for Sam but they didn't think he was a good fit at first because they wanted someone smart so his manager had to call and let them know that he is smart so they gave him a second chance so anyways they both arrive to the chemistry match network test and they were the only ones there and they start talking and the rest is history.
While telling the story they also talk a bit about how the audition process has changed, and Jensen mentions how he would try to throw the competition off their game in the audition rooms which makes Jared go into a quick non sequitur about how when G was auditioning for Wildfire there was this girl, who he and Jensen worked with, who kept trying to make it seem like she already had the role in order to mess with the heads of the others. This story had no point and no end because Jared doesn't reveal who the actress was he just tells Jensen he'll tell him later. The one time the man says something mildly interesting about that woman and he leaves out the most important detail of the story. x
What was their funniest moment or longest outtake? Jared says he has a few regrets about his time on SPN 👀
But that his number one regret is that while they did a lot of things producers do they never got that official producer label. (baby, I regret y'all never got that label too but also spill the tea) If they had they would have kept all the gag reels and outtakes. Examples that come to his mind to answer the question are JDM getting hit in the balls when they filmed the 300th ep also Eye of the Tiger.
Jensen says he's been listening to some of the podcast thing that Benedict and Speight are doing and Taylor Cole, who played Sarah Blake, was in one of the eps and she mention how when they were filming Provenance something happened in one of the scenes and she couldn't stop giggling and Jared also couldn't stop laughing so they had to take a break because they couldn't reel it in. x
I don't know if this was the moment he was referring to but the way Jensen describes it reminds me of this moment from the s1 gag reel where Jared and Taylor are laughing and then there's jealous!Jensen in the background.
We have another non-question, a fan complimented Jensen’s cover of Simple Man that he did on Jason Mann’s cover album. Jensen tells the story of how his singing that song came about; so Jensen had agreed to be on the album but they hadn't chosen a song for him to sing so one day when Jason was in Van for something they were in Jensen's apartment and he asked him what he wanted to sing. Jensen was lightly strumming the guitar trying to come up with something and the song he was mindlessly strumming was Simple Man. Jason asked what he was playing and made Jensen sing the song and Jason liked it and said that's the song we're going with. x
On the off chance that some of you have not heard the acoustic cover, which is what's being mentioned here, that Jensen did of this song I'm gonna leave y'all a link because it's beautiful 🎸
Final question, is there a method to their acting that they’ve kept throughout the years? And a part that they’ve drastically changed?
Jared says his method has been the same since Gilmore Girls, he doesn't really memorize lines he just goes through the script over and over again until it's like a song that he can sing along with even if he doesn't know the name of it or the artist. He'll read it front to back at different times of the day whenever he gets the chance so when he gets to set it's so in his head that instinct takes over.
For Jensen, it's the opposite. He reads the script once very, very slowly. Some scenes he'll re-read a couple times till he has a good grasp of it and has a really good idea of how the scene should be played and then he'll move on and keep reading the script, once he gets through it he won't look at the whole thing again; he will look at the material for the next day the night before, read through it and remember how it impacted him the first time he read it, instinctually know the idea he thinks he wants to do for that scene but still not memorizing anything. Then the day off when they block it out and figure out when they wanna be that's when the words lock in because he is marrying them to his physical space. So when they go to shoot he knows the words.
He says the biggest advice he gives to young actors and actresses is that you always want to be emotionally available in a scene so if somebody's bringing something you hadn't thought of you want to be able to react to it properly.
Jared says he wouldn't recommend Jensen's method to young actors or actresses because it's very difficult to do but Jensen's a black belt in acting which is why he can do that- he admires Jensen so much 🥰
He also says that his pet peeve with scripts is when there's stage direction like 'sam cries' or 'dean breaks down' because there are times when they get there and in the moment it doesn't feel right. Says there are several scenes in SPN where the script doesn't mention them getting teared up but they would get teared up when filming, so he hates when emotions are written.
Jensen adds that that's the good stuff when there were things that would surprise them within the scene; the nuance of the scene and nuance of the relationship or the dialogue they would find it and that's something that he can't tell us how much he loves being a part of that with Jared. Because they would find it so quickly and so much that it would surprise them. 💕

Another new client just reached out and booked me! Fucking PHEW. That's three new clients from three unrelated sources (Rover, a friend's post on facebook, and word of mouth from another client) which is encouraging in its own way to see.
My February is starting to fill out here and there, plus I get to go to Atlanta with my friend to see Donny Benet and then come home and see Willie Nelson the next day AND THEN the following two days there's a free music festival downtown with The Nude Party & Os Mutantes which I'm really looking forward to (plus a bunch of other bands and local artists and one of my friends' bands!!)
I was talking in therapy about how as a culture it's pretty normal to dread January and February, and while I wasn't DREADING these months, I also wasn't entirely sure what I was going to do to keep myself busy and mentally healthy. I can't fully account for the motivation I've had to get out and be present in the world while I have downtime, but I'm definitely thankful for it. I can't recall another time in my life where I've been both so free to do what I want with my time and motivated enough to DO SHIT. There's certainly nothing wrong with the fact that I defaulted to endless movies and books in the past when I had free time, but there's something to be said for variety and for actually doing something with all of that accumulated useless knowledge and experience.

okay i feel like i should write about this before i forget it, so here is a quick rundown of my experience at robert plant - saving grace concert in milan (05/08/23) !
i didn't take any photos or videos because i like to live in the moment (my phone's camera is broken) so we are gonna have to make do with just words lmao.
i'm going to be honest, robert plant or not my expectation for this concert were pretty low. i mean, the man is 75 yrs old, i think it was a fair worry. but i am happy to report he can still SING, and i mean SING in caps, of course we are talking different ranges but still, so amazing to hear.
i was pretty distant & high up from the stage (tickets were mad expensive we had to make do) but the theatre we went to had great acustic, so it wasn't a big issue. [the one issue i actually had with the place was with the way-too-high AC, i was freezing for the last couple of songs ngl 😭]
as far as setlists go i went in basically blind, i mean, when i was looking to buy the tickets i just read robert plant and the words folk/country covers and i was convinced - further elaboration was unnecessary.
so that was also a pleasant surprise! as far as led zeppelin songs go he did friends, the rain song, four sticks and gallows pole (i guess you could count this one in the traditional folk covers too). ngl i love friends so when i heard those first few notes i almost fell out of my chair from excitement 😭, four sticks was also so amazing to hear live - it really made me fall in love with the song (not that i didnt like it before, but there is just so much to love in IV yk).
the covers were also very enjoyable! it was a good mix, some more traditional some more modern. i definitely did not recognize all of them, tho i knew a good number which was very exciting for no reason lmao. he did a lovely rendition of the cuckoo (but i am biased, i love that song in every form).
i also really liked satan your kingdom must come down, which i think i have heard before? (maybe the willie nelson version? not sure) but it definitely never made an impression like this.
overall? really good experience! was it worth it that ticket price? unsure, but i was too determined to see the old man to care.
song of the day 254/365

Now on the 3rd listen of Ramblin' On and I'm a lot more awake now.
Track 1 - Right Kind of Trouble. I do like the build at the end of Right Kind of Trouble. That is really fun.
Track 2 - Forever Ain't Long. oooooh I love the lyric 'Take me forever. Forever Ain't long" that's poetry.
Track 3 - Every Light. Such a great rhythm. Its a good road trip song with the way it rolls. Even the lyrics back it up as a road trip song. The dual images of being on the road, but not wanting to leave.
Track 4 - Ain't No Tellin'. Jensen's voice in this is amazing. And the bordering on soul sections with the choir in the back, fantastic.
Track 5 - You Made Me Blue. Such old school country. A perfect song to do the Texas Two-Step to. Lyrics-wise it has one of my favourite country music tropes, the I'm over you - good riddance song.
Track 6 - Keep on Ramblin'. How much Sturgill Simpson has Jensen been listening to? His vocal inflections are almost identical in this. Another great road trip song. The wandering cowboy kinda deal. And the guitar solo is very Willie Nelson/Django Reinhardt, Trigger would sound amazing playing it.
Track 7 - Sweet Escape. This is fun and considering the darker imagery in the lyrics with howlin at the moon, blocking out the negative voices etc its a lot more upbeat and cheery than you'd expect. Steve's voice is great and the fiddle has a sweet sound.
Track 8 - Return to Me. There is something warm about the sound in this song. The kind of track you can imagine sitting in front of a fire while listening to it, which considering the sad lyrics is an acomplishment. It feels like it finishes too suddenly though as if there should be another verse or a bridge.
Track 9 - Restless Man. Well this feels autobiographical Jensen. Considering the jetting around to different jobs he's been doing in the past couple of years and him talking about that keeping him happy, this feels more personal than the other two "being on the road" songs on the album.
Track 10 - Velvet Sky. Oh the fiddle at the start of this. Its so reminiscent of Jay Ungar and his traditional mountain music. This is probably the strongest final track of all the albums.
Over all, its a different feel from the first 2 albums since its a hell of a lot more country, but similar enough that it will weave together well if you play them shuffled. It just feels like a progression of their sound rather than a whole new beast
I think Every Light is starting to stand out at the best song on the album. Keep on Ramblin' would make an excellent single.

Kris Kristofferson was in a band with Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings and Willie Nelson, he wrote "Me and Bobby McGee" and "Sunday Mornin' Comin' Down," he sang a duet with Miss Piggy during which he visibly could not stop laughing with delight at how gorgeous and funny she was, and he was in two Blade movies (I pretend Blade Trinity didn't happen). He's friends with Dolly Parton. Now I'm sure he has shit days like anyone else but talk about making an effective use of one's time.

I was tagged by @tuometarr (💖THANK YOU so much! 💖 ) in Fic Authors Self Rec, which does give a a great excuse to talk about my own fics so here are  my 5 fave fics I have written
Ahem, that's the tag prompt -- actually I am so new to writing, that I don't have 5 favorite fics yet, but here's what I have:
Talks with Dads - Dean and Cereal - It's super short at 875 words, but I think this is my fave thing. My obsession is repairing the Dean and Jack relationship, so this ficlet has a soft spot in my heart. I think it's sweet.
On the Road again - This is the first destiel fan fic I wrote and shared out with the world, courtesy of a @winchester-reload Suptober prompt. So I'll be forever grateful for Suptober. It represents finally getting out there and creating content even in my fandom fifties. It's short at 1,563 words, but I like it, and I put in three Willie Nelson songs via YouTube links. Really, just the song Angel flying too close to the ground is worth clicking the link.
Game Night - Again, this is me wanting to repair the relationships around Jack. This is a heart to heart between Dean and Mary in heaven. It's 2,204 words.
Road Trip for the Holidays - was my first multichapter fic. It's a pile of self-indulgent college!Jack and his family fluff, with Jack's original character friend, and just a bit of Jack and Dean regretful feelz and memories so it's not pure sugar. At 54,897 words, it's novella length, so finally a decent amount of story to get into. I love parts of it sooo much, and yet I have newbie author embarrassment about it.
Instead of a fifth fic, I'll put in a plug for my fave fic that I'm working on. It's a Season 13 fix-it fic -- the formal title not set yet. Again, it's a repair of the Dean and Jack relationship we saw in 13.01 Lost and Found. I've been working on it for a couple years, but I've joined the WIP Big Bang to "Finish your SH**" , and I feel confident about finishing. So keep an eye out for the @wipbigbang and hopefully you'll see a promo when it gets close to the publishing date.
I'm also working on a midam, but I fear that will be a long time coming.
I'll tag a few random blogs who follow me and who have AO3 links in their header or pinned post. I think most blogs are a lot bigger than mine, especially with folks who write, so this may get lost in notes or they wonder who the heck this is :)

Also if anyone else wants to use this as a reason to talk about their work feel free to consider yourself tagged ☺️

Day 20 - Spa
pencil
Cas, Claire and Jack are at the spa juice bar. Cas and Jack have matching fluffy white robes from their massages. Claire was trying out lounging around with an eye mask, but that's not her thing. She's probably going to head to the pool or a cardio dance workout. Jack's considering reminding her that the eye mask is still on her head, but Claire may not mind. It makes a decent headband to keep her hair out of her eyes until she braids it.

Hey folks, if you went to Rotten Tomatoes to leave a RoadFood review and didn't find the entry last week, it's been added! I know a lot of us must have asked for them to add it so soon, so congrats to us.
Tell them how great Misha is! 😇

So Adam is born on September 29 which is traditionally St. Michael's day. Dean was born in January
Adam was the true Michael sword and Chuck just ignored it because he was so obsessed with Dean.
It's like it was the universe's choice and not Chuck's.

Misha photo op! Raven @magnificent-winged-beast edited it for me! (i.e., graciously took me out of the image, etc.)
And what everyone told me before is true. You think he looks good in pictures? It is nothing compared to what he looks like in person. Like maybe he has a big aura or something, but he looks even more handsome than most photographs of him. It's difficult to understand.

Awww I love Tim RIP 😭
Tim was the absolute best he looked like Mr. Rogers but acted like Carl from the movie Up but I somehow got thru to him talking to him about Cars and Motorcycles. He was a bad ass dude who was super anti-patriarchy and probably smoked like willie nelson which was surprising for a guy his age from the south.
I'm so grateful we crossed paths 🤧🖤

Can u tell us something about Papa Beetle?
I'm so interested in this man right now he's handsome af
Edit: his vc is Joel Miller from lou
Name: Hercules “The Goliath” (last name unknown)
Age: 57
Height: 7’0
Kratos and Willie Nelson fusion lookin ass
He’s an ecologist that travels and works across the Americas, mainly north on his bike or truck. He’s a really intimidating guy that has some unsavory past with law enforcement but he’s morally sound for the most part like any dude that did stupid shit when he was younger. Still isn’t too fond of most cops and I say most because he’s on weird tolerant terms with a deputy. Luckily his job takes him far out away from civilization so he doesn’t bother with them too much until he comes back into town. He may still look extremely gruff but he’s a pretty well known gentleman around town even when he was getting into fights during his early youth. And a little bit of a ladies man “unintentionally” but not in a scummy manner.
He doesn’t talk much, lotta grunts and short sentences to get his point across. The most he does talk it’s with his daughter. Which mainly revolves around asking her why the hell she’s eating paint and survival 101 whenever he took her out on the job during summer and winter vacations.
Well and other times since it’s a post soft apoc kinda world.

Moonlight Walks - Chapter Thirty
Pairing: SebastianXFemaleFarmer (with a little SamXFemaleFarmer) Chapter word count: 3,986 Total word count: 137,281
Hey everyone! Chapter 30 - Heart Lines - is up. I have exciting news - Moonlight Walks hit 10,000 reads on Wednesday!! I really never imagined it would get this far and I'm so grateful to all of you for being there with me. Thank you!
I'm glad to be able to give Abigail some resolution in this chapter. I feel like I've been kind of harsh on her throughout the course of this fic.
They talk about country songs in this chapter so I wanted to share one of my all time favourite songs - American Remains by the Highwaymen, which is an outlaw country supergroup made up of Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Kris Kristofferson, and Waylon Jennings.

Interview with upcoming artist (November): Doug Kwartler
Tumblr media
These days you're mostly performing as a duo (in the Lied To's, with Susan Levine).  Do you write differently when you know your songs will be part of a duo? Are there any of your songs that work better solo?
In general, if I'm lucky enough to catch an idea, I'll just write.  Lately since we've been full speed ahead with The Lied To's, I pretty much presume everything will be heard by Susan and that most likely we'll try it out.  Sometimes it doesn't work for us together, so I might store it in "the vault" for a possible solo thing or a future Lied To's thing.  I can usually tell once a song is done whether or not it might work for The Lied To's or not.  Songs that have maybe a bit more of an eclectic or unusual feel or chord progression or melody tend to get slotted more for "solo" stuff.
Tell us a bit about your solo performing career before the Lied To's -- what got you into songwriting and performance?
I started playing the tennis racquet at around 10 years old.  I'd jump around my room to The Who or Rolling Stones or The Eagles.  At 15 I started playing guitar.  I was still inspired by those groups, but I had also discovered Rockabilly through The Stray Cats. That led me to Chuck Berry, Carl Perkins, Eddie Cochran, Buddy Holly...those guys were ahead of their time.  I also liked 70's a.m. rock and other more "songwriter" stuff.  In 1984 my brother brought home Born In The USA and I got very much into Springsteen.  Then that led to Dylan, The Beatles, Tom Petty, Woody (and Arlo) Guthrie, Emmylou Harris, Pete Seeger, Fleetwood Mac, Pat Benatar, Lead belly, Joan Jett, Debbie Harry.  Also, my dad would listen to Johnny Cash, Elvis, Judy Collins, Willie Nelson, Simon & Garfunkel, The Everly Brothers, which all influenced me..   My first performance was when I was 16 and it was a recital at the music school I took guitar lessons at.  I played Johnny B. Goode with a full band.  It was great.
When I moved from Long Island, NY to Amherst, MA in my junior year of high school, I auditioned for and joined one of the popular high-school rock bands at Amherst Regional High School.  They were called Circus.  I became the lead guitarist.  I didn't really fit stylistically.  They were very much influenced by bands like R.E.M. and The Talking Heads, which I liked a lot.  But my guitar playing was definitely more rockabilly and blues oriented at that time.  That being said, it was a blast being in that band.  I was a pretty shy kid and when we played our first concert at the rec center and there were all these girls around us watching, I was hooked.
My first solo performance was at UMass Amherst when I went to school there.  I did a crazy performance of Psycho Killer and Squeeze Box.  I was so pumped and nervous that I was jumping around the stage and people didn't know what to make of me.  A friend of mine still has an audio recording from that night.
I was in a few other bands in college and early after college.  I had moved back to Long Island and I started writing in my mid 20's. I would record my songs on a 4-track tape recorder in my parents' basement.  I formed my first original band, Wheel, in the mid 90's.  Then my first original "Americana" band, Foundry, in the late 90's/early 2000's.  Then it was just "The Doug Kwartler Band" and then after I moved back up to MA and eventually met Susan, we formed The Lied To's.  Between all the bands/projects I've had, I've put out 9 "official" albums.
The other hat you wear is as producer and recording engineer. What do you enjoy most about that work? Does your producing inform your own songwriting or performance?
My producing doesn't really inform my songwriting but production in general, and listening to other producer's work can affect my songs sometimes, and certainly my production.  I think the thing I most enjoy when I produce and arrange is when the song is done and I play it for an artist and they're happy.  That moment, when I'm waiting for either a text or email or phone call after I sent them the mixed tune..that waiting is suspenseful for me and its always a great feeling to see/hear them so happy once they've listened.
I've been lucky enough that after about 23 years of recording and producing others, my clients have been really happy with my work. The other thing is to actually get paid for something like making music and helping others realize their musical ideas is amazing.  Music recording, production and performing has saved me from the dread having to work in a "traditional" office.  It still ain't easy, but for me, it's a lot better than that!  And then of course working with hundreds of great musicians and great people.  That's very rewarding.
Doug will be playing on Saturday, November 5th, 7:30 p.m., in the Somerville Songwriter Sessions, along with Tim Foley and host Sam Bayer, at the Somerville Armory Cafe, 191 Highland Ave, Somerville MA. (Great music, great food, free parking.) $15 suggested donation. Questions? [email protected]
