so a thing this fandom does that remains FASCINATING to me, as a function of the fact a lot of this fandom is people's first fandom or only current fandom, is just... assume a lot of things it does is a scourge that this fandom has invented or doesn't exist outside of it? or like, is uniquely bad here? and i won't deny that sometimes mcyt fandom is a bit more intense by virtue of numbers, but like...
duo names: confusing fandom-injokes to describe duos and groups tend to be an anime fandom thing specifically for many historical reasons, but they're not uncommon. hey quick--if you haven't been in KHR fandom, can you guess what 1827 is? no? i'll give you a hint: that's actually a ship name. or, ygo fans, tell me the difference between puppyshipping, prideshipping, violetshipping, and rivalshipping. my hint is that they're all kaiba ships and two of them are actually the same ship. good luck!
reducing characters to a specific trait: have you read fic in another fandom before? i would recommend you go do so and come back to me. my example here is "sasuke likes tomatoes", for the record.
common au fanon that's confusing to outsiders: my deep cut here is "when i got into certain tv fandoms i was baffled by the existence of sentinel/guide fics", which is a slightly older tv fandom thing so many of you probably don't know what i'm on about. but trust me: in certain fandoms it's ubiquitous and unless you've watched a completely different tv show you're gonna have to entirely pick it up from reading fic. oh hey, hybrid aus and watcher!grian, nice to see your relative here,
fanon being treated as canon: did you know there's this whole bnha character, naomasa, who is treated as canonically having a lie detector quirk? did you know that, best i can tell, that's not in canon anywhere, it just got echoed through fanon enough that everyone treated it as canon? 'fanon trait becomes so ubiquitous everyone assumes it has to be there' is not a new thing. also, batfamily fans, i have been lead to understand the tim and coffee thing is also this.
characters being treated badly to make a different dynamic look better: the fact we have the term 'character bashing' tells you all you need to know, here. if anything my one complaint on this front isn't even that it's happening--it's that i wish bashing and/or "not [character] friendly" was tagged a little more frequently, haha.
characters being reduced to their family dynamics: tale as old as time. "even the family dynamic thing" yes even that. just because this fandom tended to be particularly ship-adverse in the past didn't mean it didn't do basically the same behaviors as any fandom with shipping did with those dynamics, just gen. and other gen fandoms also do that. yes, down to the "and shipping reduces them to a ship, unlike my gen dynamic, which is very in-character; why can't people just be friends?" thing. some of you have to have been marvel fans right.

The Discourse: yeah this is an "actively running show" fandom thing, but also a hiatus fandom thing. ask a homestuck about vriskourse sometime. as much as i hate to say it, it probably made doomsday discourse look cute.
and those are just like... some things i've seen people complain about on my dash recently. idk it just hit me there are probably fans in mcyt fandoms who are assuming that some things (like hybrid aus or duo names) are the kind of things that only happen here, so i thought i'd offer some examples of other places they happen! i also have even more examples if you'd like.
to be clear: this isn't shaming anyone for complaining about any of these things. lord knows i go complain to my friends about it all the time, just the other day i was complaining in the category of 'they keep bashing my guy'. it's more of just... a gentle reminder that maybe we're big, maybe we're loud, maybe we have problems... but these problems aren't always unique.
so uh. we're all suffering together i guess...?

I’m absolutely dying for any information on Dave and Karkat in your gleestuck au. Im obsessed.
Okay so first of all I'm sorry sorry for this being so late- I've had to think real long and hard about what I wanted to add here.
Second, I'm so happy you guys are enjoying this as much as I do. It genuinely makes me so excited when I see y'all's tags and reblogs :')
Hmm I guess I'll start with how they met? Which would be in middle school when karkats family moved to town.
Almost immediately they Didn't like eachother, karkat didn't like Dave because of his "douchebag shades make me want to punch him". And Dave actually didn't mind karkat until he found out why karkat didn't like him, then it was, "Jesus what a prick, maybe I'll fuck with him later."
After that it sort of just began a whole "I can do better than you just watch." Sort of deal, UNTIL karkat started gleeclub in freshman year (when Jake started teaching) Dave basically saw that as karkat trying to one up him again but he legitimately could not join. Mostly because of his dad (bro) having just started being enemies with the glee teacher, and well because he knew he couldn't sing. "Touche vantas"
That being said, Dave had been playing the drums and the piano since before he had met karkat. He would always practice late in the band room when he'd have a particularly bad day, otherwise he'd wait til he was home to use his own.
Funny story actually, karkat (for the longest time) had a crush on dirk. Until he found out that dirk was interested in the schools paranormal obsessed dork. He only found out after accidentally hearing Dave rant to rose about it, afterwards he gave up on liking dirk completely (besides being friends).
Junior year, Karkat has just heard about dirk wanting to try out (due to johns antics) and went to look for him to ask to do a duo together. That's when he passed the band room and accidentally seen Dave just hammering on his drums. He then sort of snuck in, about to give Dave an earful about being in there without permission, when he actually listened to what Dave was playing and "woah isn't that one of the songs we were practicing earlier?"
Which Dave didn't hear obviously, but when he looked up and saw karkat you bet your ass it scared the shit out of him, falling out of his chair and on his ass with surprise.
That's when karkat just sort of blurts out that he should try out for glee, that they needed more people anyways and since his brother was joining he might as well too. Dave immediately shuts him down, making a joke about being too good for the club which pisses karkat off and gives him a new purpose at the school.

Which proves to be a bigger hassle than he'd imagine because damn, striders are really fucking stubborn. But so was karkat, and eventually he had to settle with what they were best at doing. He called Dave out for being a Wuss, practically. Told him that he was admitting that karkat was better than him because he wouldn't join.
Dave being, well, Dave. Immediately jumped to being defensive, "fuck it! I'll join!" And boy did he, and boy did he like it, and boy was karkat getting cute? Oh shit.

Why Adam & Lute Suck
So HH's first season is over, and after watching the whole thing I can say that...it was STILL painfully average. The last two episodes were kind of good I'll admit, but aside from that the show is still kind of a 6.5/10 to me. But now let's get into one of my biggest issues with the show, Adam and Lute. These guys are supposed to be the "main antagonists'' of the show, but unfortunately, not only do they suffer from many of the same issues that plenty of HB's villains have, they also have some...new ones, and so, In this post, I'm going to explain why Adam & Lute, as the show's main antagonists, suck.
1. They're 1-dimensional
Anybody who has seen my post about HB's villains would know that an issue that I have with a majority of them is how boring and 1-dimensional they are, and unfortunately, Adam and Lute have the same problem. Now, like I already said in that post, a villain doesn't always need to be super deep or compelling, sometimes they can just be fun and entertaining to watch. But as you can guess, Adam and Lute aren't interesting nor are they fun to watch.
Adam's one personality trait is that he has a big ego and he swears a lot. That's kind of it, he's not a character that's very interesting and again, he's extremely boring and 1-dimensional. He's not a character that's very fun and entertaining to watch as an antagonist, even those types of villains need to be interesting and have more personality traits beyond "ego and swears a lot".
Lute meanwhile...barely has much of a personality? Like, she doesn't have much of a character beyond being Adam's minion and right-hand woman, and also kind of violent. Lute, like Adam, isn't an interesting character nor is she fun to watch, they are both just criminally boring with little personality beyond very one-note traits. I'll admit, the final did give a hint that they cared about each other which does give them a little bit of depth, but aside from that, they aren't very interesting. They, like a majority of HB's villains, suffer from being incredibly boring and one-dimensional, they aren't interesting and compelling nor are they entertaining and fun to watch, they are just boring. Now let's get into the next problem I have with them, that being...
2. We Barely Ever See Them
Adam and Lute have VERY little presence as antagonists. This mainly has to do with the show having a pretty low amount of episodes (only eight), we only ever get to actually see Adam and Lute in episodes 1, 6, and 8. That's a pretty big gap throughout the season, and it makes it so they barely have any real presence within the story. Now, let's move onto my last problem with these two, that being...
3. There's No Dynamic/Chemistry Between Them
Part of what makes villainous duos or duos in general fun to watch is the dynamic and chemistry the two characters may have; whether it would be a friendship, a rivalry, or whatever, these dynamics can be fun and entertaining to watch if done right. Adam and Lute...don't have this. There doesn't feel like much of a real dynamic between either of these two, and that would most likely have to do with them again, them both being fairly one-dimensional as characters, meaning there can't really be any interesting and fun dynamics for them as characters.
As a duo, they kind of fail because there isn't a dynamic between them that's fun and interesting to watch, which contributes to the problem of them just being boring. Because of how one-dimensional both of their characters are, their personalities don't get to mix or clash with each other, it's just a very bland and milktoast "evil guy and right-hand woman" dynamic that isn't very fun to watch. Again, the final episode does bring something interesting to their dynamic by making it so they did care for each other, but that's kind of it. Aside from that, their dynamic is boring, uninteresting and downright non-existent.
4. Conclusion
So ya, that's why I don't like Adam and Lute as villains, so...bye.

Part 2: Dave
Oh shit. The coolest guy alive. A briefing of what he does in Act 2;
This here is Dave Strider, and he doesn't have any time for funny names.
After briefly contemplating bleating like a goat ironically and pestering John about the sick ass juice he found, he makes some sick beats on his sampler (which is another really cool way that HS uses its medium).
He allocates his katana to his Strife Specibus, nearly takes a SWIG of the juice (but doesn't because of monster piss, curse you Egbert) and then captchalogues the sword, spilling the juice on his copies of the SBURB Beta in the process.
He decides to hang them out to dry, before they get stolen by a RAMBUNCTIOUS BIRD.
After accidentally throwing his word out the window and ridding his copy of the beta in the process, Dave decides to venture into his brother's room to get his copy instead. He chills with Lil Cal for a bit.
He guesses the password to his brother's computer, and goes on Plush Rump, his brother's successful and ironic website.
Cal has mysteriously appeared behind him, Dave gives a nervous fist bump, and he moves towards the "kitchen".
By this point it's very clear to the viewer that someone is moving Cal around to screw with Dave. He captchalogues a variety of things during this time, including box of fireworks, shurikens, some nunchucks, a "wheeled ride", a battery pack, a jumble of unbelievably shitty swords, some red spherical salutes, and a whirling blade pitcher. Jesus.
However, Dave notices a note from his brother on the hatch to the crawlspace, a very obvious reference to a certain horror franchise. He makes a fort on the turntables, pulls the cord, and gets absolutely smothered in puppet ass.
Luckily, he bursts out of the pile like "The One" and reads a note from his brother, telling him to go to the roof and to bring Cal along. So he does just that, but really coolly and sickly.

We don't really get much of Dave in Act 3, but the glimpses we do get are of him getting absolutely knackered by his bro.

In the aftermath, Dave mourns the tragic loss of Cal, shoves the beta into his sylladex, and tells Rose he's going to install it, which he will.
We get a brief lil' flashback on Dave's famous shades, the ones worn by Ben Stiller in the 2004 retro-mania remake of Starsky and Hutch. They were gifted to him by John, as a way of getting out of his bro's shadow and being his own cool guy.
In present day, Dave gets a troll message on Pesterchum, from a guy who definitely types like a total tool (but I feel they'll definitely come back later).
And then, with the help of Rose, Dave successfully installs the beta.
Shit is now taking place.
The last point in Act 3 we see (presumably) Dave install SBURB and help Rose in her own sticky situation, before he gets swarmed by more birds. How ironic.

Homestuck is becoming increasingly difficult to read because you can never pick a favourite character. But Dave is definitely up there. His overall chill vibes are admirable. His fight scenes, although his ass gets whooped every time, are insane. I really hope we get more of him in future.
On the topic of Rose (and John I guess)
She helps him out, John gets a prophecy and a sick new hammer, her house nearly burns down, she has a weird mutant cat thing named Vodka Mutini, her old cat becomes a Kernelsprite and gets saved by it, and then possibly blows up in the house's meteor explosion. I don't know. Maybe.
John does more RPG stuff, gets some new drip, and at the end of 1149 jumps through a portal, where Act 3 ends.
I feel like John and Rose are the best duo so far. Any time they interact, either through SBURB or Pesterchum they bounce off each other's conversations like nothing. It's very fun!
I'll talk about these three later.

Status Update 3: Febuary 2023
Here we are again, and so soon after the last one... what's the big idea?! Well, I thought it was about time to give people a bit more concrete information about Chapter 5, what to expect from it, a little info about characters, and also preview some new songs that won't be on the SoundCloud page.
First off, a few characters you can expect to see.
The Minister, the ruling bishop of the Holy Land.
Dirk Bishop, a peon of the Minister.
Eska, a powerful avian peace bringer.
Hycrisik, a strange creature of unknown origin.
██████, a mysterious █████keeper.
With those guys out of the way, as they're the primary characters, I'll get onto a little bit of fun information about Chapter 5 in general.
Firstly, here's Bishop's design! Done by the ever-talented @squimpus!
Bishop is a lot more of what you would expect, directly contrasting Minister in a lot of ways. While I'm not ready to tell you all too much about him, I'm sure people are gonna love this dork.
Next up... hey, wait a minute! It's snowy here?
Yeah! This world is coated in a sleek sheet of white snow. Of course, the bright palette of the stained glass and fountain piercing the sky lights a path for the heroes.
This concept piece is by jo_ once again! Giving a great insight to the eerie and cold atmosphere the gang will have to face to reach the Minister, and to stop the Knight!
Now I'm gonna ramble about Catti and Jockington. Originally, Jockington's role in Chapter 5 was a little different. But, the new route is... he's always with Catti! They work as a duo during battle, with Catti and Jockington making use of special team attacks to do things with style.
By the way, Catti was animated by the awesome R. Poizinne! Once again, the design is by Squimp too!
Now, I mentioned a few songs that won't be on the SoundCloud page, those aren't actually for Chapter 5... they're Chapter 3 tracks, but I'd like to keep their actual use in-game completely ambigious... so feel free to just take a wild guess!
That should be it! We could probably do another update depending on how progress goes on our end, but this is just a way for me to finally get a little info out on Chapter 5.

[Magi rewatch] Episode 13: Prince of the Rebellion [Part 1]
I can (did and will) complain about many things regarding the first season of the anime, but DAMN do they have cool titles.
Also, special episode, as it also has a new op.
Matataku Hoshi no Shita de - Under the Twinkling Stars. I've never checked the translation of the title, ngl.
Magi maps are a headache, but it does look cool.
OPs really out there trying to fool me into believing they're an actual trio instead of a duo + Morgiana, and boy will I get to this part either this or the next episode. Cuz there's one thing I gotta comment on, but idk when it happens in the anime.
You know Gordon Ramsey and that "You fucking donkey"? That's me with Hakuryuu. And kinda Sinbad, too. But mostly Hakuryuu. Every time I remember the Kou Empire Arc, and then the Final Arc, I'm like, somebody should take a bat and beat the shit out of you. Don't get me wrong, I love him, but boy does his writing frustrate me.
On a different note, RIP to Hakuryuu kinda. In this OP, I mean. I love Team Zagan & kinda miss it, but here we get Aladdin, Alibaba & Morgiana flying around, and then him observing that only. Not a part of the group, not really. Tho maybe the fact that he's looking up is, like, supposed to be a foreshadowing of him joining? Hm.
Ya bet I'm ready for Cassim flashbacks every arc.
Alibaba looks kinda angry, lol.
Ok, y'know what? These Al-Thamen transitions, then Alibaba's sword before the chorus, they look pretty cool, I'll give them that.
OH WAIT, it's not just his sword. A moment later the sword breaks (sorry didn't screenshot the breaking moment). It's foreshdowing of the blade breaking! That's neat.
I don't even know what to say about this, I'm just kinda laughing.
Hello, Generals, who don't get that much too do in Magi. At least you have stuff going for you in SnB.
Also, Sinbad in that one moment looked pretty cool, ngl. Sorry no photo, it's kinda fast, and how many times do I have to rewatch these moments to make a screenshot...

Welp, Morgiana out there dancing, and these two went to be a duo on their own. I will get to that moment, trust me. As much as I love it, I do have one complaint.
Also, look at the sacred not-full moon. Very rare sight.
I wonder if the moon looking like that is, like, symbolic, cuz Sinbad is half-fallen, and all. So if you go with my moon->fate/guidance, no moon->depravity/rebelling against fate, then this moon is, well, both. So, Sinbad.
The song is, overall, pretty ok. Very Magi-OP-like. Like, no deep feelings, it's just neat.
ALSO! You guys gotta see this MMV, fucking awesome. Alma Torran/Kou Empire Arc spoilers.
But, anyway, to the actual episode.

No, srsly, how were the flames supposed to cushion him here. For one, it's fire, which is still dangerous, MV or not, and for other... just genuinely what was it meant to do. I'd understand if he went ablaze before getting hit, to at least harm his enemy at the same time, but here... Idk, man. Weird magic shit, I guess?
Interesting. Here after being hit Alibaba thinks "There's no way I can defeat him", while in the manga he goes "I don't have the time to play with him!". So, completely different attitudes. Anime!Alibaba doubts himself more, while Manga!Alibaba focuses on getting shit done, maaybe a bit hastily, but he does keep the cool head in spite of that.

ok. ok. here comes the rant
so you know how Second is The Chosen One's Return right. ok. good. now imagine if he was The Dark Lord's Return
so yeah. Second's creation is still the same, he was made accidentally while Alan was animating
but uh. instead of going to the browser and meeting Red, Yellow, Green and Blue, he decides to look around the PC itself instead
and uhhhh it goes really badly
Alan is panicked about an alive stickfigure messing around his PC and tries to delete it, but the task manager couldn't end its process. Alan saw no other choice but activate his antivirus.
since this little anomaly is undeleteable, he decides he will do the second best thing - lock it away until he figures out a way to get rid of it
so uh.....yeah Second is not happy about that. you know. nobody would like being shackled and locked away in a tiny antivirus containment cell, but he can't do anything about it. he screams, but nobody hears him
it wasn't fair, right? he wasn't just some victim or beast to imprison, he was The Second Coming, The Dark Lord's Return, dammit! it had to mean something, right?!
he became really attached to his title. it was his only source of comfort, the only thing that reassured him that he meant anything, that he would eventually break out, that he will be free, because he is stronger than everyone else, it won't last for long. despite The Second Coming being his filename, he identified the most with The Dark Lord's Return, it felt stronger to him. so yeah that's where the au name comes from lol. i'll be calling Second "Return" in the text from now on
so um. 4 years of being locked away later...
Chosen and Dark weren't really affected by the change in Return's life, because, you know. they aren't aware of each others' existence. so Dark still makes the Virabot, Chosen and Dark still have the argument and the virus is still sent to Alan's PC
the Virabot corrupts all the programs that will interfere with its work, including the antivirus, freeing Return.
Return is disoriented from, you know. not seeing the light of day in 4 years. but he slowly navigates his way on the desktop, seeing a black stickfigure come out of a portal.
he sees flames and hears fighting, but he doesn't care, there's an exit, he can flee, he can leave this cursed PC, just like he wanted for so long-
then there was light, then wind, then water. he swam to the nearest cliff, climbed, until he could touch the soft grass.
he layed there for some time, just breathing the fresh air and feeling sun on his skin
but then he heard explosions.
so you know how Dark had that mission? "mission.The_Dark_Lord = destroy(The_Chosen_One) ;"?
yeah. Return inhereted the mission.
once his code registered the black stickfigure as Chosen, well...
Return has a Showdown moment but you know. without anyone killing his friends because he doesn't have friends and he lasered the good one.
Dark has ZERO idea who this random kid is and how he managed to defeat one of the strongest people on the entire internet and is more than a little wary of him. he approaches to see if the new guy is dead or just passed out.
when Return wakes up, he sees a very nervous Dark practically begging for mercy despite trying not to appear so
so, like in canon, Return doesn't remember anything that happened, but if he gets the opportunity to be feared and respected, sure, why not? he is The Dark Lord's Return, he deserves this!
Return pretends he knows what Dark is talking about and threatens him to give his virabands to him. Return can't really use his powers on command, but he makes Dark believe he can. so now theres ANOTHER weird duo terrorizing the internet

1. Lucky to get him by Aly and AJ - revisited this album recently, it's really nice and chill, I like the direction they're going in now as adults. I was never really into Americana, but maybe theyve kinda changed that with this release.
2. Another life by Jadu Heart - god, this was the first song I've ever heard of them, such a throwback!!! I remember walking thru the city at night time, walking back from a party I think? Alcohol leaving my body and I just stared at the starry sky. An unbelievably beautiful track. Since then the duo became one of my favorite bands atm.... Please give them a chance, especially their last EP.
3. Liquid air by Temples - one of my favorite tracks from their new album. Talked about them more than a healthy amount of times recently; really good neopsychedelia if you're into that stuff, a 10/10 album for hot summer days.
4. DYNA by PEEL - some more neopsychedelia! It's been a while since I listened to it, but I used to have it on repeat so much.
5. HAUNTED by Isabel LaRosa - ugh, i remember when it came out and I discovered it in like one of those spotify playlists. It had like a thousand plays maybe!!! And I loved it so much, I added it to my midground playlist and had it really high up on my wrapped for that year, and then I checked back a few months ago and it became like a tiktok sound or something with like a billion plays :((((( I guess good for her but mannn my pretentious soul was hurting LOL
6. Assumptions by Sam Gellaitry - some house...ish dance track, i guess. It's fun and I like that vibe of sort of city pop it has going on, but the fucking high pitched sound at the start is the WORST. So fucking annoying. Every time it comes on, even though I actually like the song, the noise just pisses me off and I cant help but skip it!!!! Who thought it was a good idea to START with what sounds like fucking tinnitus.
7. Upside down by Sacha Rudy - ohhhh throwback... I used to love every single track this guy would put out since like 2019. And then he released that EP last year and other than "upside down" I really just couldn't get into it. Felt like a mess. And now he's disappeared since! Can't help but hope he'll come back with something as good as "be a man", because that was my most listened to track that year. So good.
8. Lamb's wool by Foster the People - HEY that's my song!!!!! Oh no wonder it's coming up on shuffle when I've listened to it so much again this past few weeks. This time it's the original and not the Poolside version. One of my all time favorites, like, ever, and if you can only listen to one of the songs I've listed, please make it this one. Who DOESN'T love tracks about how terrifying death is??? I'll hold you so you're not alone 🤓
9. Blessed by August Charles - people who listened to my dinner party/cafe playlist probably heard this one. Ugh it makes me so melancholic. Really good tho. No wonder it's his most listened to track.... I should probably check out his other works bc I really like his voice.
10. Theme of Re:Served by Re:Served - instrumental track with So Few listens that it doesn't even have the count visible on spotify! I remember being obsessed with them back in 2016, when the way I would discover new music was by downloading random japanese experimental albums from my favorite site. This is honestly just like runway music. I love runway music with good bpm. This one is good. You should listen to it and become their third monthly listener with me.

7:45 p.m. at the New Donk City's Glorious Hotel Room......
Dark Pit: (Let's Out a Bit of a Heavily Sigh While Laying Down on his Bed)
Yoshi: (Sits Down on the Edge of his Bed) What got you so down today? Did Christmas Fanatic Duo got to you again?
Dark Pit: No, not yet surprisingly. Its Misako and Kyoko....I think I'm starting to miss them already.
Yoshi: That quickly, huh? You could always try and video chat them.
Dark Pit: Yeah, but....it won't feel like the same really. Plus, those chatting apps drains my tablet's battery more quicker than usual nowadays, so I'm not even gonna bother trying at this point.
Yoshi notices Misako and Kyoko sneaking inside their room, the latter happily waving at him and the former silently telling him to keep quiet before hiding both sides of their boyfriend's bed.
Yoshi: (Snickers a Teensy Bit) Yeah, that's a....('Clears Throat') Real travesty alright, I'll tell you what.
Dark Pit: ('Scoffs') Please. It's not that big of a deal. I could always text them on daily, maybe even make two snowmen of them whenever we do get snow around here.
?????: (Climbs Up on One Side of the Bed) Or we could just chill and cuddle for a while~
??????: (Climbs Up on the Other Side of the Bed Holding Up a Mistletoe in the Air) Maybe have a little Mistletoe action in between~
Dark Pit: Yeah, I guess that cou- (Eyes Suddenly Begins to Widened) W-W-WAIT A MINUTE! (Turns to One Side) Misako!? (Turns to the Other Side) Kyoko!? You actually here right now!?
Misako: (Forms a Cheeky Grin on her Face) We're laying right next to you, aren't we?~
Kyoko: (Happily Hugs Her Boyfriend) And you're gonna be stuck with us for the rest of the month, so you better get used to it~ (Gives Pitto Five Kisses on the Cheek)
Dark Pit: (Hears Yoshi Chuckling Before Turning Back to Him) You knew they were here this whole time?
Yoshi: (Casually Shrugs) Only when they sneaked their way in here, which kinda makes me wonder how they made in the city in first place honestly.
Dark Pit: (Looks Back and Forth at his Girlfriends) Yeah how DID you two get here exactly?
?????: You can thank me for that.
Pitto and Yoshi turns to see the Fallen Angel, Rodin standing, laying his back on the side of the doorway, taking a smoke on his cigar.
Dark Pit: Uncle Rodin? You're the one who brought them here?
Rodin: Yep. (Designate the Cigar to Ashes into Thin Air Before Walking in the Room) These two ladies 0f yours are accompany me on this family vacation of yours. They happened to bumped into me after I left that long ass line behind.
Kyoko: (Smiles Brightly) He was so kind of us to take us with him through that cool looking portal of his!~
Yoshi: How did you girls managed to convinced him to go with him?
Misako: Oh we has our ways.
Flashback
Misako and Kyoko were already on their knees begging Rodin to take them with him outside of the airport. It wasn't until he uses his dark manipulation powers to make both their mouths disappear, shutting them up completely
Rodin: Now, I'mma bring back both your lips. And when do thar, I want y'all CALMLY give me one good reason why should I take ypu with me. Got it?
Misako amd Kyoko nodded in agreement as both their mouths reappear on their faces. They take their very deep breaths before screaming out......
Misako/Kyoko: WE MISS OUR BOYFRIEND HORRIBLY!!!~
End of Flashback
Dark Pit: (Chuckles Lightly) You guys couldn't even last a day without crying out for me, huh?
Misako: (Glares at her Boyfriend) Hey, at least we weren't sulking enough to think about building snow versions of us!
Dark Pit: Yeah, but I wasn't the one begging on my knees, now was iI?
Misako: BITCH, I-
Both Pitto and Misako's mouths suddenly disappears off of both of their faces as they turn to their culprit in front of them.
Rodin: 'Ey, I didn't come all the way here just to hear you two bitching at one another all dauly, so chill out with that for a second, alright?
The two thirds of the trio couple nodded in agreement as their mouths reappear in their faces.
Dark Pit: (Sighs Before Turning to Misako) Sorry for laughing, Misako.
Misako: ('Sigh') It's fine. Sorry too. (Smiles a Bit) It's sweet that you're thinking about us.
Dark Pit: (Smiles Back) Ditto. I missed you guys.
Misako: We missed you too, dummy~ (Gives Pitto a Peck on the Lips)
Kyoko: (Pouts at Two of her Romantic Partners) Heyyy!~ I want some of your kisses too!~
Misako: (Sighs Before Getting Herself Up From the Bed) Alright. Scooch over, both of you. We're making ourselves a Kyoko sandwich tonight.

Yoshi: With that overly cuteness aside....(Turns to Rodin) Who's gonna watch your bar now that your here? Uncle Enzo?
Rodin: ('Tch') Please. I don't trust that fool to handle his own liquor let alone look over the entirety of my hard working establishment. No, I let one of my demon summons, Astral, take over from there. (Shows the Kids Pictures of the Big Demon in Question, Showing Off It's Vicious Manner) 'Been a powerhouse of a player for as long as I can remember creating him.
Yoshi: (Eyes Suddenly Begins to Widened at What Catches his Attention) Woahwoahwoahwoah, stop at that picture right there!
Rodin: (Stops Swiping Before Showing the Picture to Yoshi) Here?
Yoshi: Yeah, yeah. (Points at a Picture of a Rodin Hoding a Fiery Looking Nunchucks on the Phone Screen) What....are those!?
Rodin: One of my newest creations thus far: The Flambegé Nunchucku. An inferno dual wielding chuka sticks destructive enough to blitz through any gut wrenching demons that dares to stand in the way of the wielder. An expert of martial arts if you will.
Yoshi: How much it cost? I'll pay you anything!
Dark Pit: (Turns to Yoshi) Dude, you already have nunchucks at home.
Yoshi: (Turns to Dark Pit) Yeah, but this looks rad as all hell!
Rodin: And it's expensive as all hell. (Put his Phone Back Inside his Coat Pocket) I don't think any amount of allowance will be enough for you to pay off.
Yoshi: (Snaps his Fingers in Disappointment) ('Snap') Dangit!
Rodin: But i have yet to see any potential consumers on the other side interested in the product just yet, so I'll you have a test run or two in the near future, after you ask your parents first.

not really much to say to be honest, it was a serviceable episode, I like the colours and the name cards they introduced, but other than that it didn't really do anything with chap 1. tho mashle gets way better later when it becomes a battle manga with a bit of deadpan comedy on the side, instead of just a paradoy of the magic school trope so we'll see how it goes then

good ep, only adapted chap2 and I was expecting 2 and 3 but oh well, at least they did justice to the gabimaru beach scene

man where do I even start, my "real" rating for it is 8 but this is what I actually gave it cause I had a blast reading it
it's everything I want from a battle series like this:
- a colourful cast of characters that make you want to root for them
- a concrete power system that is easy to understand but flexible enough to where it doesn't hinder the action
- good art and easy to follow action scenes
the story's important too but I ain't reading battle manga for that,
tho even then the story wasn't bad, it was like a 7 but everything else elevates it which is where the 8 I said comes from, however I rate things for my own enjoyment and I loved it
was actually debating between 9 or 10 but I liked the ending so yeah
shame ayashimon didn't survive (tho from the start it wasn't as good as jigokuraku) but looking forward to Kaku's next work

the new series from the shokugeki duo is here! and the ghost is a...guy?? what the hell. I guess it's my fault for making assumptions from that one tiny pic we had of it but still
anyway, it was actually pretty good, I don't feel it was as impactful as shokugeki's debut, but it was pretty good, the art is better than ever since saeki has had years to refine it and the story is seems interesting enough, here's hoping it does well in ratings and doesn't get axed too soon, jp readers got some questionable taste

well it's over. ending was p weak, the series' strong suit was always the art, especially the big landscape shots it liked to do but everything else was p weak, the concept of giving up memories to increase your power was very cool, and would've been better if the series was able to have gone on for longer, but even doing that the villain wasn't defeated? and just sorta ran away? and was never brought up again which is extremely lame. anyway for the author's first serialization it wasn't bad, but has a lot of room for improvement in the future, like better story structure and characters

After the first half of the first season (? i am using a totally definitely legal sight that does each episode as 11 minutes and I'm on what it says is episode 38, if one actual episode is two of those 11 minute ones then I'm guessing I'm around episode 19?)
Maybe earlier than that BUT LIKE AFTER THEY SET UP THE WORLD THEY LIVE IN???? OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG HOW DID I NOT WATCH THIS EARLIER??
Raph is so cool Love him, like he's big and spiky and probably the softest in terms of open outwardly affection towards the group (he does the most group hugs I'm pretty sure? if not HEADCANNON that when they were little and any of them had a bad dream Raph got everyone into a little turtle pile and they could hug it out and feel safe)
Leo!!!!! I AM GETTING SOME OF THE GENDER VIBES!! So far his character feels the least dove into? Like Donnie has episodes where his character is a focus and so does Mikey and Raph to an extent but so far Leo feels more like part of a duo rather than fully solidifying his own persona (to me and I'm no where near done the show SO that most likely changes!) BUT ALSO that feels like it adds to his character in terms of I think he's the second oldest?
(I thought Donnie was the second oldest but hmmm if they're more like twins than the rest of the brothers then it kinda feels like they both tried to be the protective second oldest sibling and the second youngest at the same time and rapidly switch between each other, but like clash heads if both try to fill that role at the same time? MIGHT be head canon stuff at this point, but I need to watch more to find out. Leo DEF has something going on, like please Mx. can you reveal your hidden secret self that isn't based entirely on how we see you interact with others? like who do you think you are Leo...)
Mikey! What a fun guy, he's like. The same vibes as that "I'm just a little man, just a little man and it's my birthday. You wouldn't hurt a little birthday boy would you? on his very big special birthday day? I'm such a little guy why hurt me?". Head empty no thoughts, he's got the DVD screen saver (corner bouncer) playing on loop and probs the THX loud effect. I hope he gets more time to shine because he kinda feels like he swaps between being just for comedy and someone that wants to prove themself(which would then help them feel better about themself and improve their own self worth and stuff)
DONNIE!! MY GUY DONNIE!! HOW DID THEY MAKE A CHARACTER SO BITABLE. MY MAN IS AUTISM. HE IS MY AUTISM CREATURE. <- I thought his design was cool at first and then I saw him exist
Donnie is so character though like sorry to the rest of the turtles but Donnie is going to be my new blorbo, new little skrunkle that I'll probably project onto. He has all the issues and none of them. He has that "no one understands how my mind works and I must study other's and the world just to be partially accepted" vibes WHILE ALSO having "the world will adapt to me. If not through understanding, then my force" sorta vibes and ? the range! He's dynamic, he's wild, he probably orders the exact same thing at one specific restaurant if he's ordering for one.
APRIL!! YO SHE IS GREAT! I love how we learn more about her slowly like she's a character living her own life that happens to appear in this show, like I'd fully expect her to have a show on her own and her here is cross overs (compliment). So happy to see where they go next with her, I am like a cheer leader she can do no wrong. She could plan to kill me and I'd give her a thumbs up and say that she should believe in herself and her ability to cultivate her own life. SAD that the people at her school aren't nice, but I feel like that adds to the whole "oh the outsider must be lying about who they are if they act like someone else when not in school/[insert environment] vibes/story lines some things get into. Like we fully understand why she acts like that and get a more objective perspective of everything. She makes me feral in the sense that I want her to have the world (she also reminds me of my younger sister xD)
I also am so thrilled to see that NOT all or most of the main human cast is white. Like that's a huge think that sucks with western animation and honestly the first episode having the white guy be the first experiment and overall kinda dumb was so cathartic. Like yeah, ANYWAYS we don't need to get into my personal issues xD
All of the turtle brothers have obvious/noticeable behaviours impacted/caused/influenced by trauma and GROWLING SHAKING SCREAMING!!!1
Raph being alone omg. Splinter was probably an even worse father then and maybe not even a mutant yet??? And either Raph found the red thing and that's why splinter called him red or splinter grabbed the first thing and just colour coded him. The balll is probably his first friend and the fact that the football is vaguely turtle shell shape is giving me emotions.
Leo I feel like he always needs to prove himself because maybe he didn't have a lot of chances to be alone? He's the second oldest so idk how long there would've been between him and Donnie joining but I fully feel like when Raph realized he had a brother he tagged along with him everywhere and probably tried looking out for him more because he might've been (as a younger child) like "why is he smaller, is he okay? will he get hurt?". Leo my man are you okay you seem like you just compartmentalized everything :(
Mikey I think needed more attention and Splinter did very little so a lot of his earlier development would have been focused on getting all that important attention from his (not by that much) older brothers who ALSO were in that situation. He's got the vibes of someone that in years time (maybe few maybe a LOT of years) he'll be like "heyyy wait a minute do I use humor to cope with everything and heyyy are these things maybe not just fun little quirks?" <- neglected younger sibling vibes where he had to fight for attention where he never had time to ever figure out who he was outside of the four brother unit
DONNIE!! HE HAS SO MANY ISSUES!! Okay but the fact that he's low empathy is NOT one of them I will fight people on that. He is great and pretty relatable as someone who struggles with displaying emotions and voice inflections (I try, but when I first learned to speak I didn't realize you had to move your mouth into shapes a lot (I thought they were exaggerating just so I'd understand) so I'd be like 5 and doing ventriloquism instead of speaking properly.) <- this is one of the things I'm adding to my head canons for him. It's why he exaggerates a lot of his hand-when-speaking actions (and body movements) and apologizes for not having the right tone. Just quirky neurodivergent things :3 )
okay okay but seriously Donnie both somehow manages to be the clearest with how their childhood/life conditions negatively impacted him and also the least affected. I think it's compounded by even if he was human and not a mutant turtle, he still wouldn't be able to fit into the mould of a "normal" human, so as a mutant turtle he sticks out even more. Might've been something he struggled with until later because rn in the series it seems like he's embraced that a lot more, although still struggles. I could go on, but he fits my brain's vibes for "projection mode engaged" so yeah, babygirl
Donnie has autism and Mikey has adhd no questions asked. Raph is on the neurodivergent spectrum but in a less defined way (DEFINITELY HAS SEPARATION ANXIETY!!) and Leo is the token neurotypical that adopted neurodivergent behaviours and mindsets because that's what he grew up around. So he gets the same outsider feel of being different while coincidentally having his difference be that his brain is ""more normal"" <- heavy quotation marks.
uhhh final thoughts because I could ramble for days.. Splinter so far sucks I think that there's something really weird in the vibes of him purposefully raising all the turtle brothers in a way where the only times they got much validation/even just acknowledgement was through them obsessively watching all the films he was in. Like idk something about the vibes of him not telling them at ALL that that is him but heavily encouraging them to act out his movies in front of him gives off something weird.
SIDE RANT ABOUT THEIR COLOURS!! I AM SO INTRIGUED ABOUT THIS ELEMENT
Also like Splinter calls them by colours which he probably colour coded them all just to tell them apart (maybe why they always wear the masks? Because that's the only way they felt external validation of their lives and existence that wasn't just through the four of them??)
He might've did red first because we see him wear a lot of red, and blue is the stereotypical opposite of red so it makes sense to choose that second. Red vs Blue stereotype, etc etc. Maybe why Leo is competitive too? Because he felt his first experiences were being compared to Raph?
It's interesting that Donnie got purple because that's a mix of red and blue, so maybe Splinter wanted to give them some sort of cohesive theme at that point? Like a sliding scale of colours? Maybe it started because Raph and Leo both gave Donnie some purple, idk tho.
Purple is heavily used to either represent (evil) tech or just Donnie and Donnie has the most attachment to the colour so there's definitely something going on there.
Maybe Splinter didn't even realize there was a third turtle kid until Raph and Leo found a way to get Splinter to recognize there was a difference at all (maybe why Donnie in particular strives so much for acknowledgement by Splinter? Because his earliest life was defined by being mistaken for other people?
Mikey being Orange feels like Splinter gave up and didn't want to go with yellow (the more obvious choice as it's a primary colour, kinda surprised Donnie didn't get assigned yellow) and maybe did the same thing with Raph where he just took some spare material (he wears a lot of gold and orange in hems and whatnot) and just plopped that on Mikey.
Kinda shows how Mikey is separated by the rest by being born the youngest, they might've had some sort of living routine set up before he was there and he didn't have much say in how it adapted? Like Leo and Raph are opposites or could've been intended as opposites by Splinter, and with Donnie being so close to the same age as Leo (but his soft shell making him more prone to injury and therefore requiring both Raph's and Leo's protection) he fit into the middle but still closer to Leo (<- Donnie thought of himself as the middle child between them three for sure, but both Leo and Raph think of him as the youngest out of the three).
Mikey being orange shows that's he's kinda excluded from the twins thing that Leo and Donnie have, and might be closer to Raph because of that. After all Mikey and Raph are the only ones with masks on the warm side of the colour wheel (also adding that Mikey is a combination of red and yellow, with yellow not symbolizing anything so maybe that's adding to Mikey's vibes of being an outsider/different/unique?
He's loud in all the different ways that Donnie is (which was probably worse earlier than it is now currently in the show) and struggles with focusing his attention and thoughts where Donnie struggles with the opposite. Both Leo and Donnie saw themselves as middle siblings and treat may tried to treat Mikey similar to how they treated each other (in terms of "this is how I know how to interact with younger siblings and you are younger so this is right, right?" sorta way)
Raph would've had the experience of having two fairly different younger siblings, so he adapted more easily to the personal needs of Mikey as a younger brother? Like he unlocked his emotional intelligence earlier and could recognize (possibly comparing their behaviour to Leo?) that both Donnie and Mikey are different (more obviously neurodivergent, both probably would've been special needs kids).
Plus Donnie would be struggling more with his low empathy, perhaps not recognizing it at all and being constantly confused about others, further pushing him into the younger sibling role for both Raph and Leo because they might see that as him "struggling with something basic" (heavy quotation marks)?
Which would make Mikey (who is a fairly emotions driven person) and Donnie have difficulties communicating/Donnie having difficulties being a decent older brother. And Leo being worried and distracted by Donnie having a soft shell and maybe falling into the trap of "hey Mikey's shell is hard like Raph's and Mine so he's probably going to be okay, not like this bozo over here".
ANYWAYS I AM FERAL OVER THIS THE COLOUR SYMBOLISM AND HOW IT COULD REFLECT THEIR RELATIONSHIPS WITH EACH OTHER AND DYNAMICS BUT ALSO SHOWING HOW THEY WERE TREATED (as creatures to be colour coded rather than named and raised) IS OUGOUHGOUGUHGOU !!1 <- howling
FINAL NOTE: I keep thinking about how Donnie might have first gotten into science by testing which materials could help make him less "weak" (cover up the soft shell) and how his soft-shell-only years could have been defined as him being the "official most fragile" brother. And how finding a way to mimic a hard shell would be what he needed to officially be more equal to the rest of the brothers, and how he might've fallen in love with science then but it's intrinsically tied to his self worth and need to prove that he can pull his own weight/be helpful enough to stick around and be treated as an equal. And how his science experiments might have been what got him some of Splinter's earliest acknowledgements and AAAAA
Like maybe before he was "the purple one" he was "the soft shelled one" or "the weakest one" or (more extreme) the "defective turtle" (because turtles are known for having hard shells, so why didn't he?). And how he leans into the purple so much is because he's trying to erase that feeling of being defined as not a name or not even a colour, but by how "weak" he was, and his intelligence could be some level of survival mechanism to not be stuck in a loop of negativity towards himself and be an equal in an already extremely small world where his existence itself is "a crime against nature" so to speak.
He will be loud about being the purple one because he'd even give up being the smart one because he would much rather be defined as even a singular colour than just "the defective one". That's why he'll make bad(?) choices if it's got something to do with the colour purple, because unlike the rest he wasn't even dignified a colour when he was young and feels like he has to fight for it or earn it, to some level.

A LOT of this is based on where I am in the show now and my educated guesses on what I know about the characters and what I've watched and YEAH I could be completely wrong about their early lives maybe they like, all fell out of a tube one by one and the "big time difference" between their ages is like, minutes vs seconds lol. Maybe it's entirely head canons maybe I've done analysis. BUT YEAH ANYWAYS THOSE ARE MY THOUGHTS THANSK FOR READING IF YOU DO GET THIS FAR, I AM SO FERAL ABOUT THIS SHOW AND I AM BLAMING YOU (compliment, positive, cheering in the distance)

The thing about the colors is that Red, Blue, Orange, and Purple are already the TMNT colors and there’s no way you could get away with changing them in a new reboot without people getting mad, I think hhahfadsf. THAT BEING SAID I think your analysis of their colors is still very fitting and cool and interesting, even if the out-of-universe reason they are that way is cuz that’s how they’ve always been.
NO SPOILERS but later on Donnie has an ep that basically confirms his tech and self worth are connected and idk if you know this, but Donnie and Mikey canoncially have autism/adhd.

Wally anon: Here's where we vary a lotttt (but omg me too @ bi🙌). Billy & Stu have never done anything. for me in that dept. I think they're the best killer duo, hands down, but even after all these years I don't lose it over them like that. 🙈 Agreed on both accs of Mickey & Roman + Roman not getting enough love, though. 👍 Charlie & Jill don't really do it for me either although Jill is my overall f a v o r i t e killer. And, Quaid actually REALLY works for me as Richie, but I had a pretty mixed reaction on Ethan (alongside the rest of 6's killers; wayyy too much going on there). 🤫 I think there would've been a way to make him be the killer, but it would've probably led to more complication, so yup @ long-haired himbo. 🤭 Exactly @ Pyramid Head. But yeah @ Michael. I liked the physicality of him from the Blumhouse movies, but it's difficult to think about in many of the others (cause the mask is so shit in most of the past movies fkfsk). I think if he had a single other movie but. VI that were good, there would be more of a case for him for me but it's like, "Yes, one of the best Saws" to "And then allllll of the worst but Jig." 💀 Yupyupyup. Even 3 had a greater scope with having Ghostface running around LA + the house explosion, but 6 feels soooo small when it's like, hello??? it's supposed to be THE New York 🗽 Like, I didn't need ridiculous gimmicky locations, but 2 has t h r e e separate set-pieces set in theaters & they each feel completely different + fresh. I think Quaid’s best role is Richie. Might be a hot take but I think he’s misplaced in The Boys + him with a beard is soooo fitting. Ethan is a mixed bag like you said, I love him sometimes but also I hate him. He’s sooo bland it’s almost painful to think he was a ghostface to begin with, because he feels more like a first draft one over anything else. He’s trying so hard to be a Mickey/Billy clone it’s sad. Exactly!! I’m literally only staying with the MCU for projects Bucky is in because his character was pretty good in TFATWS🥴 (and the metal arm omg…) and for Matt Murdock (who’s got a new show that doesn’t seem promising :( and a cameo in Echo. yayyy another cameo. But his character didn’t seemed to be ruined in She-Hulk so maybe there’s hope). Steve and those two were my favorites of the OG 2018 and before era. Endgame fucked so much up with Steve and Bucky alone, and Im glad they didn’t lay a finger on Matt. Yes ugh I loved how get out handled it because he’s the comedic element of the film (and it stays solely in his scenes) and like you said, he doesn’t actually appear until the very end. SEBASTIAN LOOKED SO GOOD IN THE ROLE. And the trifecta of psychotic men from the MCU is complete with Evan’s role as Ransom, Stan’s role as Steve, and Cox’s role in Kin (i forget the name). Random and Steve most, though. Charlie is only ever really appealing to me in Daredevil tbh… Also yeah I hate Jill in Saw. She tries to act smart and clever but she’s dumb as hell and just gets outsmarted and dies anyways, so why keep her alive all this time?? She was also wayyy to unclear with her motive because, like you said, she wanted to turn Hoffmann in but then not really. Like make up your mind miss girl!!
Exactly… it feels like everything has something that upsets them. Like wow, way to say you can’t enjoy life or anything of the sort. I know people who can take much more and complain a lot less😪

Oh I didn't know that duo had a siren effect. I don't know if it can give you more indication but I'm also venus dominant, with a taurus sun (11th house) and libra moon(4th house.. which i personally would say give the native mommy issues 🤡). My Lilith and Mars are both in Virgo.

I was thinking of you today cause I had a guy friend ask me for flirting and dating advice 😂 I came to realise I'm quite to the point with asking someone out which wasn't the case a few years ago, but I guess I found out being more bold is way more helpful. I would rather express my point properly and get turned down than miss my chance and regret it. A lot of times I would approach guys that had me interested in them and told them how I found them to be my type and was wondering if they would want to see if by getting to know each other in a deeper level could uncover a connection, a spark between us. Or if they are a person I saw and caught my eye I would go up to them flash a smile, say hello and tell them that they caught my eye and I would love to get to know them if they gave me a chance, so far it had a 100% success rate (well at the same time I tried it on 3 or 4 guys but there are extremely high chances they might actually not be your type at all, cause that was my case 😬)

Okay, the spiderman kiss is going in my notes. However, when I think of spiderman I just think of Twilight 'you better hold on tight spider monkey!!' haha.
I love all the cheese.
I feel it's very difficult to not get into a FWB situationship in this day and age, it's either you're emotionally celibate and just hold out or you enter into those situationships and hope for the best.
I've chosen to go down the celibate part because I have an anxious attachment style so situationships would break my heart haha.
But I have a high sex drive and it's been 3 years and omg it feels awful.
Honestly, we go about the same way when it comes to asking guys out. I usually do the same thing and say I'm interested in you and if we can hang out sometime and it's been no's so far so either my game is off or I'm picking the wrong ppl haha.
I laugh at my awkwardness because otherwise I'll cry lol.
But I'm like you, the infatuation gets long enough when you're like 'okay, I just need to know if I have a chance' and then I just do it and get it out of my system.
Even though I've been rejected, I do feel more relieved when I've just confessed it to them.
I've never been in a right person, wrong time type of situation before.
I think the closest I've been the right person, wrong time type of situation was:
I had a guy friend that I had a really good connection with, we had the best banter, we would always sit together and smoke cigarettes and talk about music.
He was a Capricorn and studying politics at my uni. He had that alternative grunge style, he always wore leather jackets, flannels, beanies etc.
Whenever we would meet up, he would always light my cigarette for me and give me really warm and intimate hugs.
And I mean, the hugs were pretty intimate for a guy-girl friendship.
When we'd hug, he would always stroke my hair, or the back of my neck or rub my back.
So I always thought that maybe there was something there.
But he was always in a relationship and with a girlfriend so obviously, I was never able to ask if he was interested or see if what we had was more than friendship.
But I remember just seeing him with his partners and he always seemed like he was very caring and loving towards them.
And I just remember thinking what a great catch he'd probably be.
And then thinking, why isn't he into me? what don't I have that the other girls do?
And he graduated 3 years ago and I haven't seen him since.
And even now, I sometimes wonder if he ever thought of me as more than a friend.
But yeah, that's one of my many tragic romance stories haha.

“I hate doing this,” Katsuki says as soon as the door closes behind them. They lean against the wall of Izuku’s apartment, both breathing hard from their latest run from the paparazzi, “it just doesn’t seem fucking worth it sometimes, you know?”
“I know, Kacchan,” Izuku agrees, peeling himself off the wall and going into the living room. Katsuki follows him, and they plop down on the couch together, “but I don’t think we can quit now. We can’t break up, not yet. What can we do?”
“Fucking nothing,” Katsuki sighs. He hates this arrangement for a multitude of reasons. Katsuki’s approval rates got lower and lower at a proportional rate to the number of girls who threw themselves at Izuku per week. Izuku needed to appear taken so people would stop hitting on him, and Katsuki needed to appear taken so people would start seeing him as someone who had a soft side, too.
It was a beneficial arrangement for them both, but now that they were together the entire world was obsessed with them. Breaking up would just make it worse. But here they are running from cameras and reporters when it’s not even real. They’re not even actually dating, which sucks even more because Katsuki would love to be dating Izuku. He's in love with the guy and he can't even tell him.
It wouldn't be requited. Izuku would never want Katsuki.
“I wish it would stop, too,” Izuku lays his head on Katsuki’s shoulder, taking a deep breath, “but we’re in too deep now. We just have to deal with the consequences, I guess. Even if sometimes it just doesn’t seem worth it.”
“It’s not fucking worth it,” Katsuki says bitterly, “we’re putting in all this fucking effort for a goddamn ruse. My approval ratings are rising because of something fake. That’s never been how I wanted to fucking win. I hate this.”
“I hate this too,” Izuku nods, “I hate lying to the world.”
“Yeah,” Katsuki leans back against the sofa. Izuku is silent, and they just breathe together for a moment. They ignore how their phones beep with messages and notifications pop up about the newest Wonder Duo breaking news. They just exist together, the way they’ve always been able to do behind closed doors.
“How the fuck do actual couples deal with this shit?” Katsuki speaks up after a while, “all the extras who are dating each other, I dunno how they fucking do it.”
“I think,” Izuku replies softly, “that it’s all worth it for them.”
Katsuki scoffs. “How?”
“They love each other,” Izuku whispers, “they’re in love, and nothing can take that away from them, and that gives them the strength to deal with the fame. The attention and the rumors and the paparazzi is worth it to them, because of the love.”
“So this shit ain’t worth it unless we’re in love.”
Izuku hums in thought. “I guess so, cause we’re not in love.”
Katsuki’s breath hitches, and Izuku turns on his shoulder to meet his eyes. Their faces are close, now, and Katsuki finds himself staring right into Izuku’s earnest eyes, watching as his lips part in some kind of realization. Katsuki’s heart thunders.
“We’re not, right?” Izuku asks, and Katsuki doesn’t know what to say.
“I-” Katsuki swallows, “I don’t know. Do you-”
“Yeah,” Izuku exhales.
“Me too,” Katsuki rushes to say, and then there’s no more air between them, the inches separating them becoming nothing as they both lean in to kiss each other. It’s short, lasts only a few seconds before Izuku pulls away, face red and tone urgent.
“I love you, Kacchan,” he says, “anything is worth it if it’s with you.”
Katsuki’s eyes burn with unshed tears. “I love you too, Izuku.”
Izuku’s tears spill over, and he reaches for Katsuki and pulls him close, a desperate sound coming out of his mouth as they kiss again. Katsuki reciprocates in kind, and now he understands how those couples do it. Facing an endless sea of reporters doesn’t sound so bad anymore, not when Izuku is right by his side.
