Mommy dearest 7
After the unexpected visit from All Might, you need time to think about your decision. Summer vacation is also around the corner, so what better way to relax and enjoy it than taking your little Tenko on a trip to Fukuoka. Things don’t go quite as expected.
The visit from All might have caused a change in Tenko’s behavior, he had become clingier and it just made you feel like a bad mother for not noticing his abandonment issues beforehand. Slowly but surely Tenko began relaxing again and not clinging to you every five seconds, to make sure you were still with him. It took around 2 months, and only really seemed to ease after All Might's first visit as the designated ‘cool’ uncle. It seemed like Tenko realized that no, he was not going to be taken from you when All Might went home alone.
Their interactions were a bit stiff in the beginning, as All Might had a hard time talking about anything that didn’t involve hero work or heroes in general. But after he asked Tenko about his hobbies and asked him even more about his favorite games, they began getting along quite well. It made you hopeful for Tenko’s future, it would do him some good to have a male role model. So if All Might could be that for Tenko then you were eternally grateful.
Around a month after All Might visited for the first time, and once more in the span of that one month, school was out and it was now summer vacation. And so Tenko’s pestering about going on vacation became constant “Can we go on vacation please mama” he would ask and give you those adorable puppy dog eyes of his. His little ruby eyes were your sole weakness. And after a hectic couple of months, filled with both challenges and love since Tenko arrived in your life. 5 months ago you were a young single woman, living to work and not much else. Now you were a young single mother , with a young child who had various issues of various degrees. But you wouldn’t trade him for the world.
Tenko’s constant pestering about going on vacation got to you eventually, and one evening you ended up curled in the sofa with a cuddly Tenko stuck at your side. “Tenko, do you still want to go on vacation?” You asked him softly. He turned to look at you with bright eyes, he jumped off the sofa and began doing a little happy dance. No words of confirmation came from him, but his cute little display of excitement told you more than enough.
Tenko only stopped a minute later and looked contemplative, “Can we go to Fukuoka?” His little voice rang in your ears. Shrugging your shoulders you faced him with a bright smile, “Why not”. The planning for the last minute trip to Fukuoka took around a week to plan, book and pack for. You decided to make it into a road trip, since small cramped seats on an airplane would likely be triggering for Tenko. Just like that a week after your vacation conversation with Tenko happened, you were off towards Fukuoka.
Tenko spent most of his time looking out the car window, watching in fascination all the different scenery. It was a lively drive to Fukuoka, and you were very happy with the decision to go on vacation even if it was last minute. The hotel room that you had reserved for Tenko and yourself was pretty decently sized, and it wasn’t too expensive either so all in all you were pretty happy with it. The first night was spent jumping in the bed with Tenko, just because he wanted to try it and wasn’t allowed to do it at home.
The first day of the vacation was spent in a bunch of arcades, they quickly became a favorite of little Tenko. Some of the older children and their parents approached you, and the children challenged Tenko to various games. Tenko’s video game prowess became widely known, when after 6 hours in 3 different arcades he still stood as the undefeated champion. You bought Tenko a slice of salt caramel and chocolate cake as a price, since it reduced the sweetness and was a dessert Tenko actually liked.
The second day was spent sightseeing, and making a video call to All Might as promised. All Might obviously couldn’t take a vacation day the same way you could, so the compromise was to give him a call. Tenko spent about 20 minutes yapping All Might’s ears off, boasting about how he beat a lot of kids at video games in the arcades yesterday. It warmed your heart to see Tenko boast about his achievement, since it showed that he had become more confident and that their relationship wasn’t as strained as before. You visited a shrine in the evening, and had dinner at a place nearby. Tenko’s eyes sparkled as he recalled the magnificent shrine and talked with you over dinner.
Yeah, a vacation was indeed a good idea.
On the third day however, things didn’t run nearly as smoothly. It started around lunchtime, Tenko was tugging on your hand and insisted he could find the way to the restaurant. In the end you gave up, and let Tenko drag you around the city alleys and streets. If you got completely lost, you had a phone and GPS to help you.
Tenko was chatting excitedly about the food he couldn’t wait to taste, when out of nowhere he stopped dead in his tracks. “Mama, who’s that?” The gentle tug at your sleeve made you turn your attention towards Tenko, your eyes following the finger that pointed at something. You eyes widened at the scene, a small child a little bigger than Tenko was sitting and eating out of a dumpster. The child had the most beautiful red wings attached to his back, but his clothes and the child itself was so dirty that the feathers seemed muddy.

Soulbonded
Promt 11: He/She is a criminal
Loki x Fem!Reader
Warnings: Hurt/Comfort, Fluff, Angst.
Summery: After the Battle of New York left you with new discoveries and a new hobby, you didn't excpect your team and friends to turn on you so quick.
“He’s a criminal” Natasha huffed, glancing at you in disapproval.
“He’s misunderstood” you cross your arms over your chest as you defend Loki. It had been a month since the battle of New York, where you had made eye contact with Loki during the fight only to then get your soulmark. There was no mistaking the new brand sitting on the inside of your wrist, it was Loki's name. In neat cursive writing sits the name Loki Laufeyson, at first you didn’t believe it and denied it was real. Only after the battle when Loki was cuffed and taken back to Asgard, did it really hit you that he was your soulmate and that you might never see him again.
In an attempt to feel closer to Loki after you accepted his status and your own as soulmates, you dive into anything norse mythology you could get your hands on. If you asked Thor he would for sure ask questions, besides he was still off world. Your new obsession with norse mythology didn’t go unnoticed by your teammate and sort-of-friend Natasha Romanoff. You say sort-of since Natasha didn’t really trust anyone, and it made the friendship a bit harder. Natasha’s trust issues must have been tingling or something, because suddenly she was confronting you about your new hobby. So you told her the truth, and she was not happy about that. But it was the one thing you took pride in yourself on, it was your honesty.
Which was how the conversation came to this intervention-like point, with Natasha trying to reason with you by highlighting all the bad that Loki did.
“Misunderstood, misunderstood!! you’ve got to be kidding me y/n. He killed 80 people in cold blood, prior to the bloodshed that was New York a month ago ” Natasha was getting frustrated nothing was getting through to you.
“He’s my soulmate”
The confession hung in the air for a while, before Natasha seemed to react. “Y/N!!! Listen to me. He is a bad man, who mind controlled our allies and killed countless people” Her voice was loud, and the sound attracted the other Avengers including Thor who got back minutes prior to update the team on Loki’s sentence.
“Yes but that was because of the scepter, where did he get it cause Thor said he relied on magic. Somebody must have given him it, and they could have mind controlled Loki. We wouldn’t be able to see it, cause we have never seen it before and Thor was never mind controlled.” At this point you were pacing back and forth while voicing your theori.
“You just think that because Loki is your soulmate” She yelled.
“Loki is your soulmate?” Thor’s voice piped up, alerting you of the others' presence. You spun around and took in all your team members' faces, and they all looked at you like you had somehow betrayed them. By the looks on their faces it didn’t seem to matter that you have no power over who is your soulmate, their looks all screamed: You are not welcome here anymore.
“Yes Thor, and I would like to see him please. Take me back with you to Asgaard” you calmly addressed the god of thunder. “But what of your family here?” Thor innocently asked. The question was innocent enough, the Avengers had come to be a bit like family. But the posture they held now screamed, ‘I’m ready for a fight’ hell, Tony had even fetched one of his repulsor beams and was pointing it at you.
“Look at them Thor, now they know. I’m not family to them anymore, clearly ” you huffed, and blatantly pointed to the repulsor aimed at you. Thor looked at you seemingly a little lost that the Avengers turned on you because of your soulmate, but maybe it was because the nature of soulmates was perceived differently on Asgaard. On earth soulmates were perceived as two people who were right for each other, and often shared interests. Whereas on Asgaard soulmates were perceived as two halves of one soul, where they were two often very different personalities paired together. Soulbonds.
The Avengers saw it as you sharing hobbies as soulmates were known for, meaning your moral compass was probably screwed and wouldn’t hesitate to stab them in the back. But Thor saw you in a new light, as a sister figure since you were his brother's soulbond, but also as the contrasting truth and honesty to Loki’s mischievous and deceitful personality. Two halves of a whole person. A flawed one as all living beings are.
“Of course sister, I’m sure All father will make an exception for you to stay on Asgard. Go pack your bags, while I update the team”
With that you left the room, conscious of the repulsor following you the time until you were out of view. Packing was quick, it had only been a month at the tower so your personal items were sparse. Everything after was mostly a blur, you kept silent. The Avengers weren’t as much your friends as you thought, if they were they wouldn’t question your integrity based on your soulmate. You were your own person.
When Thor arrived back on Asgaard with a companion Heimdall simply raised an eyebrow, before Thor nudged you and urged you to show Heimdall your wrist. After Heimdall had seen the name on your wrist he let you walk into Asgard, wishing you luck with your soulbond. Odin had not been pleased with your arrival, and had Frigga not been there and been ecstatic to meet her youngest son's soulmate, you were pretty sure Odin would have kicked you to the curb. After ensuring them that you meant no harm, and telling them you would not care how little or how much lodging they could spare as long as you could see Loki, Odin seemed more okay with it.
The way you spoke politely and respectfully, plus the comment about not caring for lodging seemed to make everyone warm up to you. To the Asgardians who witnessed it, you simply proved their beliefs in soulbonds. You were surely going to be honest and truthful in your relationship.
Frigga insisted on personally showing you your room, it was right across the hall from what used to be Loki’s room and was near the library as well. You thanked her before setting your bag into the room, and asking her to take you to Loki. Unpacking could wait.
Loki sensed his mother before he saw her, but for the first time since they had locked him up here Frigga wasn’t alone. The steps that accompanied his mother were light, most likely another woman and that peaked Loki’s interest. Nobody other than his mother had come to see him, the scorned, power hungry and deceitful second son, of their own free will. Loki listened to their conversation.
“Do you think he’ll accept me, All Mother, I mean I don’t even know if he knows who I am” A sweet angelic voice asked his mother.
“Of course he will, dear. Loki has always wanted to meet his Soulbond even if rarely admits it. But I know my son”
Soulbond. Loki’s Soulbond came to visit him, his soulbond had seeked him out. When Loki had first noticed the name on his wrist had appeared and he apparently had met his other half, he was still slightly under Thanos’ mind control. But as the Soulbond fell into pace as he was walking on Midgard, the mind control snapped and lost hold of him. He was almost sure his soulbond wouldn’t want to be with him, the chances of his soulbond being Midgardian looked to be high and his new reputation on Midgard was everything other than good.
Frigga was the first to appear in Loki’s field of vision, before the next figure emerged down the steps. It was a beautiful woman, stil clad in Midgardian clothes. Loki vaguely remembered her as one of the Avengers he fought on Midgard. Loki would have been terrified that she had come only to formally reject him and cut their bond, had he not heard her question to his mother.
Their gazes met and as they stared at each other, the air around them became filled with electricity. It was a good thing Frigga was with her, because her body began moving towards Loki. Her mind was foggy as if she wasn’t completely aware of her actions, she completely followed her instincts and gravitated towards the other half of her soul. The cage glass disappeared and reappeared to let y/n into the cell courtesy of Frigga, and darkened the glass so nobody could peek in before leaving to let the newly formed soul bond mates have their privacy.
Y/n’s mind seemed to clear once her hand met the softness of Loki’s cheek. Loki leaned onto the soft touch, one of the rare ones he got since it held no ill intentions. Loki turned his face and kissed his name on her wrist.
“Hi” you whispered, afraid that raising your voice would break the tender moment.
“Hi, my darling ” Loki greeted back, holding back the urge to kiss the breath out of you. But he needed answers to a question first, to quell his insecurities. “Are you alright with me being you bond”
His earnest question took you off guard for a second, before relaxing and giving him a blindingly sweet smile. You cupped his face with both your hands, and put your foreheads together so you could look him in the eyes.
“Of course Loki, you make mistakes we all do, it's a part of life. We were made for each other, and I chose to trust fate when it tells me that you, Loki Laufeyson is the one who will love me as much as I will love you”
It was impossible to lie to Loki, he was the god of lies, so when he sensed the truthfulness of your words. He stopped suppressing his urge to kiss you. Your lips meet in a bruising and passionate first kiss, the soulbond had taken longer to fully activate since you were on two different worlds, so all the unknowingly built up passion came forward in that kiss.
Loki let one hand land on your waist to pull you closer to his body, while his other hand came to cradle the back of your neck to deepen the kiss. Your own hands had wandered off of his cheeks and into his hair. The kiss got softer but deeper, conveying all Loki’s longing for you. He had longed for years for his soulbond, and crossed his fingers they wouldn’t reject him.
Loki had you now, and he had no intentions of ever letting you go.

This chapter is a collection of what happened on All Might's side of the story before he meets the reader, and her precious baby.
After returning to Japan Toshinori Yagi, had stormed through the ranks of the hero world. The busy work of a hero never gave him a break, or really allowed him to have many relationships outside of hero work. And Toshinori was a traditional man, with an extreme amount of loyalty. One-night stands weren’t his cup of tea, besides the risk was too great. WIth his rapid rise in the Japanese hero ranks, the rapid growth of his fan base followed. His fan base consisted of enough women, talking about maybe baby trapping him or something along those lines that one-night stands just seemed like a bad idea. You never know if the condom breaks, or if he was unlucky a fan brought the condom and had poked holes in it or something.
He would like to be a father, but he had also come to terms with the fact he would never get that. A family. It was one of the sacrifices he had to make when he became a pro, shooting for the nr.1 spot. His teacher and foster mother, Nana Shimura, had given up everything for him to reach that dream. So no children for him. It had been a long time since Toshinori had thought about Nana, and the son she had left at an orphanage for his protection. If Toshinori remembered correctly Kotaro Shimura would be old enough to have made Nana a grandmother now, and as much as Toshinori would like to know for sure he promised Nana to never seek Kotaro out.
So when Toshinori got the call from Gran torino that day, he could never have anticipated that his long buried dream of being a father could grow once again. “Toshinori” the older man stated, the tone of voice indicating that it was to be a grave and serious conversation. “You remember Nana’s son Kotaro, and how we swore to never look for him ” Toshinori muttered out a small ‘yes’ not quite sure what direction the conversation was going. “Toshinori…….. Kotaro’s family is dead with one exception” It was silent. Toshinori wasn’t quite sure how to react. Kotaro was dead?. The little boy he had seen Nana tearfully place into the foster care system when he was 18, was dead?
“You still with me?” Gran Torino asked on the other end of the phone. “Yeah,” Toshinori answered. And so Gran Torino continued the story “An old friend of mine in the police precinct called me because I had asked him to inform me if he ever heard the Shimura family name mentioned. He told me that his rookie assistant had brought in a woman with a young child for questioning. That young child is called Shimura Tenko, apperently he supposedly murdered his entire family in a quirk accident. I don’t believe young Tenko meant to harm his family, even if my old friend thinks so otherwise. The woman with Tenko stated that she had found him in the streets and decided to help him since he was absolutely filthy. I know you wanted to be there for Nana’s family, so meet me at that xxxx precinct tomorrow and let's see if we can find Tenko '' With that Gran Torino ended the call, leaving Toshinori to ponder for the rest of the night.
The next morning All Might could be seen in the precinct, talking to one of the rookie officers and retired hero Gran Torino. “Do you think the woman who took in Tenko would be willing to share custody?” Toshinori asked the man. His dreams last night consisted of images of himself and how he imagined Tenko Shimura to look doing father-son activities. His dreams of father hood had sparked, and so he had to ask the officer. Officer Tsukauchi shook his head at the blonde man “I can call her, but she seemed very protective over the kid so I wouldn’t put my hopes up” The comment didn’t deter the blonde's hopes.
Officer Tsukauchi led the two hero’s into an empty room, before dialing Tenko Shimura’s adoptive mother and putting her on speaker so the two other gentlemen could follow the conversation.
“Hello, this is officer Tsukauchi. We have received a request to receive guardianship over Shimura Tenko, but as you have full guardianship we would like to inquire if you would be willing to negotiate the custody of Tenko Shimura “ It was silent on the other end of the line, and Toshinori’s hope went up. Surely Tenko’s guardian would consider it, not many people took in children as a single parent, at least that was what Toshinori built his hope on.
“Negotiate custody, you must be joking. I adopted that child, he is my son now and I will protect him and love him as my own for the rest of his life. He is not some kind of toy to be switched out when a distant relative suddenly decides they want the government's money for taking care of family and raising Tenko. I owe nothing to you, and will not be open to negotiate custody so to speak, and am quite frankly disgusted you would ask after I have been approved as a suitable mother by child protective services connected to YOUR precinct. Good day ” Then before they could intercept or stop the woman's angry rant, she hung up the phone leaving Toshinori with a deflated look.
But Toshinori Would not give up.

After taking in Tenko, you have your hands full. Life is slowly getting easier, but of course adopting a kid at age 23 raises eyebrows. It turns out you weren’t the only one who would be willing to look after Tenko, but how will Tenko react to your visitor?
With the new normal of having Tenko and you at work and school, created time to have bonding weekends. Tenko absolutely loved it, being out and about with his mom who never hurt him or scolded him. And after some getting used to raised brows and judgmental people asking you questions about his adoption. You could enjoy your weekend with your precious son uninterrupted. Nothing could shake you, you stood at the top of the world with your cute Tenko alongside you. Or so you thought.
The picnic the other weekend had been a success, and Tenko had since then asked everyday when the next picnic would occur. Everytime the answer was the same ‘not in the near future’ of course that bummed Tenko out, but he understood once you sat him down and taught him how time management works. Your weekends together had been peaceful and so far uninterrupted, but that was about to change.
It all started when you got a phone call from the police precinct, you picked up the call assuming it might be a follow up on your complaint about the unprofessional, prejudiced and misogynistic detective who conducted Tenko’s interview. “Hello, this is officer Tsukauchi. We have received a request to receive guardianship over Shimura Tenko, but as you have full guardianship we would like to inquire if you would be willing to negotiate the custody of Tenko Shimura ” The officer on the other line explained to you. For a minute you froze, not quite believing the audacity of the officer on the other end of the line. Guardianship, is putting it too lightly. You adopted Tenko, you are his mom now and have parental rights. After unfreezing white hot rage shot through your veins, so you turned back to the officer on the phone to give him a piece of your mind.
Good day ” with that you hung up the phone, and walked back into the living room where Tenko was watching a cartoon.
He lit up at the sight of you exclaiming a happy ‘mama’ when you joined him on the couch and pulled him into your lap to cuddle. With Tenko being so happy and enthusiastic about the cartoon he babbled about to you, it simply solidified it furter for you that you weren’t ever going to give Tenko up.
A few days later when you were on the way to pick up Tenko from school, there was a queasy feeling in your chest like something was going to happen today. You ignored it in favor of parking the car and going to the school gate to wait on Tenko, so you joined the other parents who were also waiting and had a bit of small talk. You one of the single dads trying to impress you with boasting about how well he was raising twins, he kept hinting at wanting to give his kids a mother figure all while he was more or less eye fucking you. It was a public space, and so you kept your polite smile but didn’t contribute to the conversation.
As the bell rang and the school was officially done for the day, you walked away from the dad who had just reached the point of asking for your number in favor of meeting Tenko halfway. Tenko waved goodbye to his friends, before sprinting over to you with a toothy smile and a loud “mommy”. You caught Tenko in with open arms “did you have a good day honey?” you asked as you stood up with Tenko in your arms as you made your way to the car. “Yeah it was awesome, we had to talk about our parents today. So I told them how you rescued me and adopted me mama, but one of the other kids was rude and said then you probably didn’t want or like me. But I know you do, cuz you always say you love me. So I said at least my mama got to choose, your mama didn’t have a choice. The teacher was so impressed that I didn’t even get that big a scolding” Tenko huffed out in one breath.
The trip back home was filled with more stories from Tenko’s day in school, and you wondered if you really were that sarcastic around Tenko for him to pick so much up on it. It made you laugh so you decided it wouldn’t be a problem, besides you would rather Tenko end up as the passive aggressive type than the violent type. Everything came to a stop though when Tenko stopped and tugged on your pant leg on the way to the front door. “Who’s that mama?” Tenko asked as he pointed towards the large silhouette in front of your front door. “I don’t know, stay behind me okay Tenko” He nodded, and so you began approaching the silhouette. The closer you got the easier it was to see that the silhouette was a man, hulking over you. He was tall, broad and so filled with muscles that you were sure he was either a pro-hero or a bodybuilder.
“Excuse me sir, can I help you” Your tone was clipped but polite, your only concern was Tenko’s safety as he hid behind your leg like you instructed him to do. When the man turned around, it knocked the air out of your lungs. In front of you stood the number one hero All Might, his blonde hair and blue eyes were very telling. “I’m looking for a y/n l/n and her son Shimura Tenko” he said very politely, though it was like it took him a minute to find the words. Your protective instincts had simmered down a bit when you realized that it was the number one hero who was standing in front of you, but it did make you confused. Why was All Might tracking you and Tenko down?
Focusing on the man before you, you reply “that would be us, would you like to come inside. I would take a wild guess and say whatever reason led you to track us down, you wouldn’t want the press all over it, would you?” So with a raised eyebrow and a look at the now sheepish man and jerk your head for him to follow you and Tenko inside. Tenko is still clutching onto your pant leg, his little fist going white with the force used to hold the fabric. Tenko was annoyed, why was the stupid number one hero here. Tenko didn’t need saving anymore, he had his loving mama and her warm hugs and that was all he would need.
The three of you went inside, away from prying eyes. You offered All Might something to drink, as any gracious host would before sitting down to discuss the reason the pro-hero was in your home. “So All Might, why have you seeked Tenko and I out? '' you asked him curiously. Tenko was sitting sideways in your lap, so that he could see the both of you although he mostly side-eyed the pro-hero. The hero-jumped almost startled, he had been caught up in gazing at you and Tenko that he almost didn’t hear your question.
“Right, a friend of mine from the police force should have called you earlier, you see I used to know young Tenko’s grandmother. So when I heard from an old mentor of mine that Shimura Tenko had been registered in the system as an orphan I wanted to adopt him. But it seems you beat me to it, I would still like to be involved if possible ” The older man explained, hope glinting in his eyes.
It made sense to you, if he used to know Tenko’s grandmother that he would like to know Tenko. You would still like to know exactly how All Might, the symbol of peace and number 1 hero, knew Tenko’s grandma. Even if All Might wanted to be involved, it would ultimately be Tenko’s decision. Before you could mull over your thoughts too much, Tenko went tense in your lap. His eyes that were previously distrusting of the hero, turned down right angry. He was shaking in your lap from rage, his thoughts raging inside all with a negative view of the man in front of him. So as any tense child would, Tenko exploded.
“So now I’m good enough, I hate hate hate heroes. Nobody wanted me or wanted to help me when I needed it except mama, and now you want to take her from me. I hate you All Might” He yelled before storming into his room and slamming the door. You knew Tenko didn’t like heroes, and you know he had gotten better with the help of his therapist. In the beginning he was tense as soon as a hero even made an appearance on the TV, and he would scratch at his neck to relieve that stress. From working together with Tenko these past months, you knew he just needed some time to cool off. So you turned your attention back to the frozen man.
“Sorry about that, Tenko has almost exclusively only had bad experiences with his prior family and heroism. Then when the accident occured and he was alone and afraid, not one single hero of any rank, took the time to help him. And now when he finally has a stable and loving environment to grow up in, with a mother who does her best to support him emotionally you frase it as if you are here to take it from him. You can’t really blame him, he’s a traumatized child. But if you do blame him, then get out of my house you have no business being a parent” you explained to the man in front of you in a neutral tone of voice. You were an adult so you could have a mature conversation without you going on the defense immediately.
All Might looked shocked at the information. “But I thought you were a hero?” The older man tilted his head like a puppy would, and he had no right being cute doing that. But the head tilt or how attractive the hero was, wasn’t the thing to focus on now or ever. “No, I’m a doctor at the Mayumi Private Hospital '' he made an O’h face, as if it only now occurred to him that not all ‘heroes’ were in the pro-hero business. Now that your occupation was cleared up, the question that had been nagging you in the back of the head, could be asked.
“How exactly did you know Tenko’s grandmother”
So the pro-hero began explaining how Nana Shimura had been his mentor and foster mother. How Nana had to prioritize her son Kotaro’s safety after her husband died in an attempt to kill Nana, so she had put Kotaaro in the foster system. He explained how Nana had made himself and her best friend, who coincidentally is All Might’s other mentor, promise to not seek out Kotaro. And how sad he was when he heard the news of the Shimura family’s death, and how when he heard of little Tenko how he couldn’t just stay away this time.
In turn you told him about how you found Tenko, all bloodied and malnourished. How he had flinched when you went to touch him. And how your doctors and parental instincts had gone haywire. You told him of the things Tenko had admitted in therapy or simply to you. How all the heroes who were sworn to protect the citizens had ignored him in favor of 15 minutes of glory from a small villain take down. How Tenko had suffered from physical abuse at the hand of Kotaro Shimura, for wanting to be a hero. The emotional neglect he had suffered from, that the therapist and yourself had concluded. You told him about his progress, how he seemed to be a natural leader with his peers in school, and about the picnic the weekend prior.
After having exchanged stories and sentiments, your bleeding heart had made up its mind “All Might, I would be willing to try co-parenting with you.” The blond haired man lit up, similarly to Tenko when he played video games. “But. You have to be committed and patient, Tenko is not fond of heroes as you are learning. In the end Tenko is the one whose opinion matters the most, I will talk to him and explain to him why you want to be involved in his life. But I can’t garanti he wants anything to do with you” You tell him apologetically
“That is fine, I’m just happy you at least want to give me a chance to prove myself to young Tenko” he stands up, and holds out his hand to shake on it. “I’ll call you and update you, okay?” When he nods, you connect your hands in the handshake. He also hands you his phone so you can put in your number, so he knows who is calling him and will actually pick up the call. So you put your contact name as ‘Tenko’s Mama y/n’ All Might leaves not long after, he was called to the scene because “A hero never rests” as he yelled when he was leaving.
Now all you had to do was talk with Tenko, to calm him down and reassure him that All Might would not take him from you. So you prepare a snack for him, before starting your mission. With a sigh and a gentle smile you open up the door to Tenko’s room. The sight is heartbreaking, Tenko is laying in his bed curled up in a fetal position as tears stream down his face. “Oh, honey. Come here” you sit down the snack on his desk before sitting down next to him on his bed, and opening your arms so he can hug you. Once Tenko is sitting in your embrace, he begins to sob. “Please don’t leave me mama, I’ll be good I swear” He cries. That just breaks your heart, because of course Tenko has abandonment issues, you just hadn’t noticed because things have been going so well.
You spent a good half hour soothing your crying son, loving him to the best of your abilities. Rubbing his back and giving him forehead and temple kisses, hugging him and singing his lullaby to help him relax a bit. You explain to him the concept of shared custody, of how 2 people both can love you and want to raise you. But one might have him for longer periods of time than the other, because of a job. You ask him if he would let All Might be in his life, for starters just as a cool uncle like the ones from his favorite cartoons. Tenko agrees, but only if he and mama can go on vacation this summer. Something some of his classmates had talked about. So you agreed and texted the blonde hero the details of Tenko’s agreement. Before putting the phone away and spending the night, cuddling and watching a movie with your precious son.

Hi so I was wondering if I should create a tag list on my Mommy dearest series.
It would just be so that you would be notified every time the masters list got updated.
Just write to me if it is something I should do.

Note
I read your Tenko Shimura x Mom Reader, and I was absolutely vaporized by the cuteness level!!Imagine AFO tries to snatch up Tenko, but ends up activating Reader’s Mama Bear Mode™.
Oh for sure, I might have planned AFO to make an appearance later in the series. But we'll see, I honestly kinda like it as just a fluffy fic so we won't see AFO a lot.

Mommy dearest 4
After the horrible doctors visit, you decide life must go on and it is time to enroll Tenko in school. Normality and routine slowly begins to find a place in your lives. Tenko also enjoys his first picnic
Chapter 4: normality
It has been a week since the doctor's visit, and Tenko finally stopped regressing in his progress with his decay quirk. It took some time but after a lot of cuddle sessions, Tenko stopped being afraid of his quirk again. The presence of the doctor's visit slowly began fading and Tenko healed again. He began laughing again and animatedly talking about his games, his collection had grown a bit. Your inability to say no to him was probably the cause, did you care, not particularly, did it hurt your wallet, a tiny bit. But as a sought after doctor with a healing quirk that didn’t leave scars, your clientele mostly consisted of the wealthy and the few pro heroes who came to you for almost a cosmetic procedure. They paid handsomely and you got rid of a scar or two so their upcoming ranking didn’t tank because of a scar. It was one of the reasons you found the occupation heroism to be weird, at least for those who dreamt of being a top hero.
After Tenko got better and became happier, thanks to both you, his therapist and Tenko himself, you enrolled Tenko into a nearby school which had great ratings and a no bully and quirk-use policy. So off you and Tenko went to see the school, it was private and had a lot of options for tutoring should Tenko require it. The school had a pool and a computer room, you could already guess what Tenko was going to be raving about tonight. A smile came to your face, it had been about 2 months since you found Tenko. Now as you look at Tenko happily talking to the guide and excitedly pointing out things all while tugging your sleeve and saying “look mama..” to all the new things that excite him.
So once Tenko enrolled in school, and settled in quite easily you returned to work full time. The hospital you worked at wasn’t too happy at first when you told them you would like to have less hours, and only one working weekend a month. You were the sole reason their hospital had such a good reputation, no scar too big to fix or erase brought in a lot of wealthy clientele. The hospital tried to pressure you into staying, and having the same hours as before. Saying things like without us you wouldn’t have a career, no other hospital would take you in with your lack of skills. The baseless accusations made you laugh, your quirk was sought after it would be easy to start up your career at another hospital. Hospitals made you offers all the time, but you had liked your workplace so much you had turned them all down. Because the hospital looked down on you and taught you to be a pushover, you quit and accepted the latest offer along with the raise it came with.
When you told Tenko that evening what had happened at work today, he laughed and said “those people are idiots, my mama is the best there is” suffice to say, you tackled Tenko in a hug for that comment. Tenko wasn’t wrong, after you had accepted and started the job at another hospital it wasn’t long until the old one had to file for bankruptcy. Because your presence made the hospital famous for scar removal and expert healing from you, they had let the standard drop from all the other doctors and nurses. When the public and their patients found out, they simply transferred to the new hospital you worked at.
The new hospital you worked at gave you a big bonus for getting so many cosmetic surgery patients for the hospital. They were also happy to accommodate your request to only work 8am-4pm so you could drop off and pick up Tenko, so you got used to the new hospital very fast. Tenko also enjoyed your work hours, he would get a lift to school in his mom’s car and not have to take public transportation. A thing which Tenko’s therapist suggested you avoid, so that Tenko wouldn’t have to deal with anxiety from being squeezed in the japanese trains. Something the therapist had found in their talks with Tenko, would be likely to trigger a panic attack and subsequently lose control over his quirk.
Tenko was thankful for all you did, and it didn’t hurt that the car you drove was fancy and cool looking. The other kids came to him, rather than Tenko having to start the conversation. They almost always ended up staying and talking, especially when he would show them his newest or his favorite game. Slowly but steadily Tenko forgot all about his past life before meeting you, his loving mama who always calls him honey. Who never scolds him but rather sits him down and tells him what he did wrong, and what he could do better. Like one of the times he dropped a plate, because he wanted to help set the table. With his old family his dad would have scolded him, but with his mama she just asked if he was alright and asked him to take one plate at a time with both his hands holding it.
His mama allowed him to try a lot of new things, and would always include him if he asked to. So Tenko was really looking forward to the weekend, his mama had told him they would be going to a park nearby and have a picnic. Tenko had never been to a picnic before, so he asked his mama what it was and what he would do. His mama laughed and said “Tenko honey, you’ll see when the weekend arrives. But it mostly consists of us sitting in the sun on the grass in the park, and eating yummy food.” So for the rest of the week Tenko was excitedly waiting to have a picnic with mama.
When Saturday arrived, you woke up to a bouncy Tenko. You deadpanned at his energy, and just laughed heartily when Tenko looked at you with a confused expression since he didn’t understand the difference between a night owl and an early riser. Since Tenko had a lot of energy and both of you enjoyed cooking together, well you allowed Tenko the basic tasks like cracking the eggs. He is only five, so no hot cookware for him yet. After breakfast Tenko asked you when you were going to the park. After pursuing Tenko to be patient and play some of his games, you went to put together the last meals for the picnic and began packing it all down in a basket.
The weather was nice, not too cold even if it was slightly cloudy out. Tenko held your left hand and was excitedly talking to you about his game and school and everything else he could think of, his other hand tightly clutched his game console that he never leaves at home. Your right hand held onto the picnic basket, and two blankets under your arm. The walk to the designated park was only about 7-8 minutes so you figured you could handle it, besides it would be nice to walk back home in the sunshine that was to come later if you would believe the weather forecast. On your back was a backpack, with some activities for the picnic. There was soap bubble solution, nets for catching bugs or butterflies (you would prefer butterflies) and a set of Kubb. There was also a collapsible umbrella in case the weather got worse.
It didn’t take long before the two of you arrived at the park, so you tucked on Tenko’s hand to gain his attention and momentary silence from his ramble stream. “Tenko honey, why don’t you pick out a spot for us to sit? '' His eyes lit up at the task before his whole face scrunched as he looked around the park area. Tenko was a man on a mission and it was clear to see, it took a lot of self control for you to not laugh at his adorable concentrated face. Eventually Tenko pointed to a spot near some flowers in bloom, it seemed spacious but also slightly out of the way, a perfect picnic spot.
“Good choice honey, let’s go set up then okay” Satisfied with your response, Tenko followed after you and helped you fold out one of the blankets to sit on. Tenko blinked and looked at you when you sat down “Why are you sitting on the ground mama?” he asked. “Well because when you are on a picnic, you sit down on the ground and grass, but usually you have a blanket to sit on” Content with the explanation Tenko joined you, and the fun began.
For starters you introduced Tenko to blowing bubbles, he ended up blowing a bubble so big it burst in his face. The disgusted face he made after he felt the stickiness of the soapwater, and after he accidentely licked his lips and got the soap water in his mouth was hilarious you couldn’t help but laugh. Tenko made an annoyed face at that, but laughed soon after when a bubble burst in your face. You couldn’t help but feel like that was instant karma.
After using up the entire bottle of bubble solution, you unpacked all the food you had brought. Tenko decided he wanted to sit in your lap when you ate, and you allowed him to because why not. Tenko always made a little humming noise when he tasted something new he liked, and offered a bite to you. Before you knew it all the food was gone except the dessert, but that was for later. After lunch you presented Tenko with the nets, and spent a good hour to an hour and a half trying to catch the butterflies that would visit the flowers next to your spot. Many failed attempts later and Tenko grew bored of it, but you could also tell he was beginning to feel more tired.
The sun had come out so it was significantly warmer, and it gave you an idea “why don’t we take a nap Tenko” in his bored and tired state Tenko readily agreed. So you put down the other blanket as a pillow, and stuck your umbrella in the ground to shield your face at least a little from the baking sun. Sunburns aren’t fun, you know that from experience and you forgot to pack sunscreen so the umbrella shade would have to do. You laid down, and Tenko crawled into your embrace. Settling with his head in the crook of your neck, and body curled along your arm. Setting a timer to 20 minutes was the last step before closing your eyes.
When the phone alarm woke you 20 minutes later, you decided it was time for that dessert. It would give you some energy again, also you weren’t so stuffed now where you couldn’t stomach a dessert. Tenko’s reaction to the sweet dessert was super funny, you had noticed Tenko tended to go for more savory snacks the sweetest being the fresh berries you sometimes had at home for your quirk. So his deadpan but thoughtful face was expected, it still looked pretty funny. It always seemed ironic that the son you ended up with is the one kid who doesn’t like ice cream. Figures. After laughing it off and telling Tenko it was okay if he didn’t like it, he simply offered his ice cream to you and who were you to say no.
The last activity of the day was a game of Kubb. The first game was clumsy since you had to both tell Tenko the rules and also show him how to play, but after a few throws Tenko ended up having a pretty great aim. The game attracted some onlookers from around the park, all interested in the strange game. Kubb wasn’t a very used game in Japan, and in all fairness you had never heard of it before you went to Europe after highschool before college. Tenko had defeated you a few times already, and some of the other parents began asking if their kids could join.
Wanting to consider Tenko’s feelings, and how he might still have some stranger anxiety you asked him first. Surprisingly Tenko was happy to play against the other kids, maybe he had gained some confidence after beating you more than 3 times in a row. If the other kids became mean after losing and not being a good sport, you would politely tell the kid they weren't allowed to play anymore and repeat that again to the parents as well as the reason. There was only one mom who got mad at you for not allowing her son to keep playing when the son was cheating, and you could visibly see how that made Tenko sad and annoyed. So the kid was suspended from playing Kubb with your son, and you kept politely asking the other entitled mom to leave until she gave up on your stonewalling and left.
That day when you left the park, Tenko ended up being the undefeated Kubb mester. Several rounds of Kubb, probably around 15 rounds, and the walk back home had made Tenko tired. Some of the other kids wanted to play with him again, so you got their parent’s number, not sure if Tenko would be more outgoing from now on. It could wait, for now you had to put an almost sleeping Tenko to sleep. Making Tenko wear the backpack you carried him on one arm, the basket and blankets in the other. It wasn’t entirely comfortable but Tenko didn’t care. He had a great day, trying new things, learning a new game and becoming the champion in said game. He even made some new friends, who didn’t care about his quirk because they thought he was cool anyway. His mama was there the entire time showering him in attention and affection, making sure he was never uncomfortable and now he was in his mama’s arms on their way home.
Yeah, Tenko decided he likes picnics with his mom.
note: I know Tenko may seem a bit too happy for a child having gone through something traumatic, but I believe he would quickly get over it since he is five and surrounded by a mother (reader) who gives him love and positive affirmation. And a therapist he can talk things over with, I imagine since his bio dad Kotaro Shimura isn’t around anymore all his childlike joy isn’t necessary to hide.

Mommy dearest 3
Tenko is now officially in your care, but his quirk is still not registered. A trip to the doctor goes slightly askew, and once again you are faced with the prejudice that follows quirks.
03 A visit at the doctor's
Waking up to Tenko next to you was still a new, but welcoming feeling. It had been 2 weeks since Tenko officially became your son, and was lovingly calling you mama. It makes your heart so full every time he says it. Over the past 2 weeks, some behavior patterns have turned up. Like how Tenko would scratch at his neck everytime he got anxious, or hadn’t used his quirk in a while. Or how he would always ask, if he was allowed to eat. To combat that you spend a lot of time cuddling and testing his quirk. Let’s just say the garbage disposal company hadn't had anything other than dust from your household.
You also put Tenko in therapy, where the therapist had been so kind as to allow you to sit and comfort Tenko the first few times. Tenko seemed to like her, and frankly so did you. The therapist was one of the only people so far who didn’t discriminate against Tenko, because she wasn’t afraid of him and if she was she was still professional.
But now that Tenko was doing a lot better, you had to address the elephant in the room. His quirk registration.
“Tenko honey, we need to visit the doctor soon,” You said in a gentle voice. You didn’t want to risk Tenko reacting badly. Tenko stopped playing the new video game you got him “but why mama?” Tenko looked up at you with his big innocent ruby eyes. “Well, we need to get your quirk registered” you said as you caressed the top of his head. Tenko looked confused, “But we already know my quirk, mama,” his confused expression was adorable. “Yes we do, Tenko” you bopped him on his nose, causing him to giggle “but we need a medical professional to examine you, mama is not allowed to, it's illegal even if mama is a doctor.” you gently explained to him, scouting his reaction for any sign of tension.
“Do we have too?” Tenko asks, giving you puppy dog doe eyes. Ever since you adopted Tenko, and the person checking in marked you fit as a parent, he had been very comfortable around you. Tenko knew you wouldn’t hurt him, your words and actions had shown him that. So Tenko had allowed himself to be a child, and free. With that came the puppy dog eyes, usually it was hard saying no to the doe eyes. But you knew when you had to put your foot down.  “Yes Tenko, we have too. I want to make sure you are 100% okay ” Tenko reluctantly gave in. And so you began your journey to the doctors office, you had planned this ahead of time and booked an appointment.
The doctor's office was filled with anxious little kids and their mom or dads, a lot of posters about health and it was all in horrible colors that maybe could make your eyes bleed over time. Tenko was surprisingly enough one of the more silent kids in the waiting room, rather than fidgeting he opted to play on the console you got him on his first shopping trip. The game he was playing captured all his attention, so you used that as an excuse to sweep a glance across the room.
A young boy and mother with uncanny resemblance came out of the doctors room, one looking schooked and the other glum as glum as can be. Both of them had the greenest hair you’d seen in a long time. Their matching glossy eyes, sparked an ounce of sympathy that took root in your soul. Whatever happened to them, must have been bad. I hope they’ll be alright.
With Tenko consumed by his game, and you observing all the people who come and go, the wait went by fast. “Ms.y/n and Tenko, I’m ready to see you now.” The doctor announced it in the waiting room. “Tenko honey, put the game away, it's us now.” Tenko nodded his head, saved the game and shut off the console so you could have it in your purse again. Hand in hand you and Tenko followed the doctor. Once in her office, it gave you a chance to evaluate her. She was young from what you could tell, wore her hair up in a bun and had an expensive set of rings on her fingers. Oh no, a privileged kid turned doctor. Wait bad y/n, maybe she won’t be so bad. While in your head you almost missed her first question and the tone that followed.
“It says on the paper you're here today for a quirk evaluation. So first I need to ask what your relationship is” There was a certain sneer to her voice as she spoke the word , relationship, as if she couldn’t be more judgemental she also gave you the elevator look. “Mother and son” the answer came out with more bite than intended, but her everything was giving you bad vibes at being judged. It made it even worse when she turned and scanned Tenko, causing him to retreat into himself. Silently you began petting his head, stroking his hair in an attempt to offer some comfort from the doctor.
“Alright, it says in the notes that you have discovered Tenko’s quirk but would like a medical evaluation.” Silently you offer a nod and a little ‘yes’, doing your best to not march out the doctor's office. The doctor just gave off such a bad feeling, like you are not enough and are the scum of the earth. A pretty bad feeling to have when you're visiting a children's doctor.
“Okay, I will need Tenko to come with me for the tests, to do the evaluation ” Tenko’s head snapped over to you, big red eyes pleading not to. “It’s alright Tenko, it needs to be done. Besides you never have to again afterwards, doesn’t that sound nice honey?” you calm Tenko down, the small pout on his face tells you he’s not exactly happy with the outcome.
You were ushered out of the room, and into the hallway. Time ticked by slowly, your heart was hammering out of your chest. What if she hurt Tenko, the doctor seemed to be the type to let their prejudice dictate their actions. The door opened after some time  “you can come in now” The doctors words were sharp, clearly something happened. The doctor seemed on edge once she came closer to Tenko, and Tenko was sitting in a chair with his head down and trembling fist all scrunched together.
“Well the evaluation is over, I can give you some pamphlets on what to do. But, don’t ever come here again” The doctor said tensely, while she was stocking piles of pamphlets into your arms. The top pamphlet said something along the lines of: how to deal with a villain's quirked child. The nerve of that woman had you seeing red. “Excuse me, did you mean to give me these pamphlets? '' The tone in your voice almost had the fully grown doctor shaking in the knees. The doctor, not wanting to lose face, tried to shift the blame towards you “Well, maybe if you hadn’t had your son so early he would have had a non- villain quirk” she spat out the words, son and villain quirk.
Seeing red still, you scooped up the trembling Tenko and hugged him close. His fists were still clenched together, a sure sign he was uncomfortable with his quirk again. Two weeks of getting better all down the drain p´because of a rookie doctor with quirkism prejudice. “Who are you to tell me or my child, that his quirk is villainous. If anything you are the one behaving like a villain here, I hope you get fired after I contact the hospital about your unacceptable and less than professional approach ” with the scolding of the doctor done, you headed out the door with the softly crying Tenko. When you reached the lobby of the hospital, you swiftly threw out the stupid pamphlets and grabbed your bags. The journey to the car was filled with a lot of kisses to Tenko’s head, and back rubs to the best of your filled hands ability.
The car ride home consisted of you trying to make conversation with Tenko, asking him about his games and other topics that usually got him talking nonstop. But he was mostly silent, only giving a small ‘yes’ or ‘no’ when you asked him direct questions. So you stopped trying to make conversation and instead turned up the volume of the radio, deciding to give Tenko some space and time to process.
Tenko was still mostly unresponsive when you arrived home, so after placing your things away and in their spots you scooped Tenko up and sat ión the couch. “It’s okay Tenko, I love you no matter what the doctor said. Besides I know you a lot better, so I know she was wrong honey. You will be exactly what YOU want to be, it doesn't matter if it's a professional gamer or hero. You quirk is not villainous there is no such thing, so don’t worry honey. ”
Sitting in your lap, and hearing you reassure him was just what Tenko needed. Wailing he flung into your embrace, and sobbed his little heart out. He was so relieved, you loved him and would still keep him. He wasn’t cursed with a villain's quirk, mama said so and she was always right.
After calming down Tenko got sleepy, it took a lot out of his little body to be so pent up with emotion. Before he fell completely asleep his little sleepy voice rang out “I love you mama”. Sighing and smiling a gentle smile you picked up Tenko, choking to put him to bed. With a kiss to his forehead, you could only look forward and swear you would make him continue to feel loved.
It seems like the journey of motherhood is a long one ahead, luckily you were always ready for a challenge. Tenko was going to get the best mama in the world, you would make sure of it.

Mommy dearest 2
Tenko has spent the night, but now it is time to go to the police station. Let's hope for mom she can save tenko from the system.
note: Because of quirk laws and the consequences of villains, the adoption process is very short/instant, where they check up later. If the guardian is not fit to parent, they are stripped of legal guardianship and remove the child.
02 The system sucks
When you wake up that morning the bed is suspiciously a little bit warmer, unconsciously you scoot over to hug the warmth. Sometime through the night Tenko had woken up from a nightmare, the events leading up to his family’s death still fresh on his mind. Fearing that all that had happened that day was a dream, Tenko set out to find you. In his panic he wasn’t registering where he was, so he didn’t realize that yes he was in your home. Tenko’s panic-ridden mind had surprisingly guided him in the right direction, and it didn’t take him too long to find the master bedroom. Crying in relief when he saw you sleeping there, he contemplated if you would get mad at him should he sleep in your bed.
But you had been so kind to help him and had shown him nothing but gentleness and kindness. With those thoughts in mind, Tenko decided that the chance you got mad at him was slim enough, and he climbed into bed with you. Dried tears on his face as he burrowed it into your chest.
When you finally opened your eyes, adjusting to the light and looking over at the digital clock, you concluded it was early. A small shuffle next to you reminded you of the extra heat next to you on the bed, the sight of little Tenko next to you caused a smile to spread on your face. He looks so peaceful. You noticed he seemed to have cried at some point in the night, and you reached out to slowly stroke his cheek. He must have had a nightmare, poor boy.
Tenko’s eyes fluttered open at the light touch on his face. He lightly nuzzled his head into the warm touch, waiting until the sleepy feeling left his head. “Morning honey” you whispered as you gave in to the sudden urge to kiss Tenko’s forehead. “mhm, morning, " Tenko yawned before closing his eyes again. You couldn’t help but smile at the sight, he was so cute. Stretching your limbs you carefully crawled over the now once again sleeping Tenko, careful not to shake the bed too much. Breakfast wasn’t going to make itself.
Walking into the kitchen you began taking out all the necessary ingredients to make scrambled eggs and bacon, with of course a side of fruit for your quirk. Gentle humming while cooking for two was a great way to start the day. Once breakfast is ready, you return to your bedroom to wake Tenko again. “Wake up Tenko honey” softly you shook his shoulder to awaken him. Tenko was still sleepy so he decided to just make a grabbing motion, signaling for you to pick him up and carry him.
Not seeing the harm in it you obliged his request to be picked up. Cradling his small body in your arms, you walk to the dining table with Tenko slowly waking a bit more. Sitting Tenko down on a chair at the table, you then walk into the living room getting a blanket to chase off the chill. Tenko was sitting just where you left him, stars in his eyes at the sight of the delicious food. Normally before the incident, he wouldn’t be fed every morning, or it would be dry and old cereal as a punishment. Softly you drape the blanket over Tenko’s shoulder so he wouldn’t be cold. He still only wore that one shirt you had that didn’t drown him.
You sit down and begin eating, though you look up to see Tenko hasn’t touched his food yet. “Tenko, why aren’t you eating?” you ask him, searching his face for any sign of discomfort. Tenko only fidgeted in his seat “I’m allowed to?” the question came from him in such a meek voice you weren’t sure you heard him correctly. “Of course, I made it just for you.” you smiled at him, motioning with your hand for him to eat it. Tenko carefully took a bite, he didn’t believe it. He was still too used to dry cereal.
Tenko’s whole expression brightened when he tried the food in front of him. Once the comfortable and safe atmosphere got to him, he began rambling a mile a minute while simultaneously trying to eat his breakfast. It was such a lovely morning filled with laughter, and stories, at one point you had to cut Tenko off to wipe his face. Fruit juices and some of the egg hung onto his chubby cheeks, even with the malnourishment he still had some fat on his cheeks. It added to his charm.
After breakfast you dressed Tenko in his original pants that you had taken the liberty to wash and cut, so they were shorts. Whole shorts, now that the small holes had been cut off. His shirt was so caked in dried blood and dirt, it simply wasn’t salvageable so you lent him another old shirt you never wore and that wasn't too big on Tenko.
“Are you ready for today, honey?” you asked Tenko while helping him get his worn red shoes on. “What are you doing today ms. y/n” Tenko asked, looking up at you. “Well first off we have to get you some better clothes, and maybe some animator gloves so you won’t have to have bandages on your fingers all the time. Afterward maybe some lunch, and then we have to go report to the police station ” while you were listing all the things you had to do today, you were already out the door. Hand intertwined with Tenko’s much smaller one. Tenko’s mood was extremely high, even if it faltered a little at the mention of the police station. But as Tenko looked at you, smiling brightly, squeezing his hand occasionally to make sure he was still beside you, he thought it just might be okay.
Shopping with Tenko was both heartwarming and heartbreaking, the amount of disbelief at being allowed to pick his stuff only solidified that even before his quirk accident he suffered from neglect. Why else would a child at age 5 be amazed that shoes can have more than one color and shape? Luckily it wasn’t too bad, instead, it was heartwarming to see Tenko’s bright eyes light up at things like plushies and games when seeing them in the mall. After a few hours Tenko had some new clothes on, and a few bags full of other stuff for the little boy. Games, more clothes, a plushie, a pair of new shoes, and a few coloring books.
After lunch, Tenko had gotten ice cream and was excitedly chatting with you. One hand around the ice cream cone and another in your hand, while you made your way to the police station.
Naomasa Tsukauchi was fresh out of the police academy, still just a green-faced rookie officer. He didn’t expect to assist a quirk accident of a young child, nor did he expect the woman accompanying the child to be a young beautiful goddess of a woman.
“Hi squirt, I’m officer Tsukauchi. Wanna come with me for a bit” The young man reached his hand out, only to be met with uncertain red eyes. Tenko looked from the man to the woman who is taking care of him for the time being. Sensing Tenko’s growing anxiety you crouch down, slowly bringing him into a hug. Carefully observing his reaction to the contact, to your big relief Tenko practically melted in your arms. He nuzzled into your arms as a cat would into a hand, it was adorable but also stated a fact that Tenko was most likely touch starved.
“Can I come with, Tenko needs all the emotional support he has right now” The beautiful woman had a voice as gentle as the aura she excluded when cradling the young boy. Possibly her son Tsukauchi surmised, he simply nodded as he didn’t trust his voice. So the officer simply allowed the woman who now carried the child in her arms to the interrogation room. “Detective” officer Tsukauchi bowed to the elderly man sitting at the table. The elderly man waved him off and spoke in a gruff voice “Sit” directed at Tenko and yourself.
“I read the inquiry, what can you tell me about the incident” The detective spoke, glaring when you opened your mouth. “not you, let the boy speak” he sounded aggravated every time you would open your mouth to answer. The final straw was when he asked Tenko if he did it intentionally. Who asks a child, if they intentionally killed their family. It was too much.
Enraged, you stood up, scooped the now crying and shaking Tenko into your arms, and began telling the detective a man maybe 30-40 years your senior off. “How dare you ask a traumatized child that, how insensitive, incompetent and unprofessional can you be. I will be reporting your behavior to the chief of the precinct. Hopefully, he fires you, no child deserves to be interrogated like some serial killer” With that you stormed off with a huff.
Tsukauchi stands behind gobsmacked, silently observing his superior's reaction. He was still young and new, so if he wanted to keep his job he couldn’t say anything about the behavior of his superiors even if he 100% agreed with you.
After the awful interrogation, you sat rocking Tenko in your arms in one of the lobby chairs. Cuddling him and humming to get Tenko to calm down. A little after the officer came out and stood in front of you, he seemed a little awkward but polite nonetheless. “So what would you like to do ma’am, the boy is orphaned as far as the database shows, “ He asks, and Tenko’s reaction is instantaneous. He freezes, before beginning to hyperventilate. An orphan echoes in Tenko’s head.
He clings to you as he sobs “pl-please do-don’t send me a-away” he hiccups. He sobs and sobs, until he heaves. Your instincts are screaming at you to comfort the crying child, so that is what you did. “sh-sh honey, it’s okay. I’m not going to send you away.” Politely you turned to the officer who was still standing there and asked him to the best of your ability with your cheek on Tenko’s head.
“I researched a little beforehand, as long as I have been in charge of Tenko for 24 hours. I’m eligible to adopt him correct” The officer nodded, as Tenko froze again. adopt me?. He looked at you with so much hope, it reminded you of when you stumbled across him yesterday. With that look in his eyes, your desire for a child and your maternal instincts going haywire sealed the deal.
Looking the officer straight in the eyes you told him “Bring me the adoption papers” and off he went.
“You're going to adopt me” Tenko’s little voice brought your attention back to him. He stopped crying and looked at you like you hung the moon and the stars. “If you don’t mind, then yes I’ll be your new mama” His expression brightened before he started looking shy, Tenko was fiddling with his fingers. “So it's okay if I call you mama” he almost whispered the question. “yes, of course, honey”
The rest of the time at the station was spent cuddling your new son, Tenko was beaming the entire day but so were you. Your new life as a mother was ahead, luckily your cute son was there to help you along the way.
