Percy lets himself sink into the depths of his father's domain. The salt water currents lick at his limbs, healing the various burns and cuts he accumulated from the pit. It's been a few hours since they fought their way out. The consuming pain-anger-fear that had possessed Percy in the pit was quickly fading, and in its place is horror and guilt at what he had done. Percy knows that he's powerful. More powerful than he has any right to be. Powerful enough to scare mortals, immortals and gods alike. But he has always done his best to keep that power dormant, and use trickery, cunning and his sword fighting skills to defeat his enemies. He doesn't want people to fear him. He doesn't want to be a bully, getting his way because people fear what he's capable of doing to them if they oppose him. The horrors that he faced: Arachne, the flock of Arai demons and Ahklys, had eroded that. He had lost sight of himself. The pit was a land of cruelty and monsters, and Percy had become one. He had tortured Ahklys with her own domains - poison and misery. Aka. Fresh out of Tartarus, Percy reflects on his actions. Poseidon offers a wise perspective.

A very small part of him had wondered if Poseidon simply didn't care enough, after Percy fulfilled his role and chose to preserve Olympus. "You are my child." Poseidon says. He wraps an arm around Percy and pulls him closer, until Percy's head is tucked in the space between Poseidon's shoulder and neck. Sitting here, wrapped in his father's cloak and embrace, with the warm fire crackling at his back and the scent of his mother's cooking from the nectar in his mug, Percy can almost believe that he's not in Tartarus. It's all too easy to imagine that he's at their Mohawk cabin in Long Island Sound, sitting by the ocean at night and listening to the waves crash against the shore. "When I am able, I will always protect you." Aka. Poseidon hears his favorite son suffering in the pit and rescues him.

Vas Bellicosum by CombatTombat - Roman!Percy who's shunned by the legion and becomes super powerful anyway. One of my favorite fics. Books 1 and 2 complete.

Go Into the Water by CombatTombat - Percy Jackson x DC crossover inspired by Aquaman but that's unique and doesn't completely take from DC canon. Super recommended. Books 1 and 2 complete. - honorable mention, literally anything by CombatTombat. Their work is super imaginative and they do a lot of common tropes really well.

The One-Seven by lildrummerboi - Percy Jackson x DC crossover where Percy is a detective in Gotham and also a demigod, and these two things conspire to make his life interesting. Book 1 complete.

The True Half-Blood Prince by lildrummerboi - Percy Jackson x Harry Potter crossover where Percy is a demigod working for the International Wizarding Confederation and is sent to investigate the rumors of Voldemort being back.

The Last Argonaut by lildrummerboi - Percy Jackson x My Hero Academia where Percy is a demigod trying to blend in with these new people, while also being super powerful. - honorable mention, literally anything by lildrummerboi. He does a lot of crossovers/AUs (he has another really good Percy Jackson x Harry Potter one, and more MHA crossovers, plus a pirate AU and a bunch of other stuff).

The One Where Percy is a Magician of Questionable Competence by Rynna_Aurelia - Percy Jackson x Kane Chronicles crossover where Percy is raised by Amos and everyone in the Greek world thinks he's dead. Currently updating.

The File by denimbeans - Percy Jackson x Marvel crossover where Percy works for SHIELD and is assigned to be Tony Stark's bodyguard. Some canon divergence in The House of Hades that's explained by the prequel. Half the reason this is being recced is because of the crack, semi-canon text fic after which is one of the best things I've ever read.

ATLOP: Trial by Fire by WardofWinters - kid!Percy finds out he can waterbend and figures out later he's a son of Poseidon. Adorable and funny. Book 1 complete.

So Annabeth did something every rational not paranoid teen would do. She became his lab partner and bugged his school bag. Or the fic where Peter thinks Annabeth is just a friendly neighborhood ninja mentor to him until Annabeth decides to single-handedly fix everything post NWH.

Demigods at Midtown oneshot #1. Annabeth's characterization-- and Peter's confusion-- is everything! Fix-it fic.

This is my #1 absolute favorite Percy Jackson/Marvel fic. It's excellently written, it's long, and it's funny. I adore Natasha's characterization.

About four months later, Natasha drops by the Jacksons' apartment to take her first close look at the child that heralds the realization of the Great Prophecy. She thinks he looks small.

This fic has characters from the Avengers and Daredevil! Percy is 14, which is a refreshing take on a familiar trope. Well-written, excellent characterization.

The only differences are the fact that Theo is six years older, covered in battle scars, and the black tattoo on his arm. A trident and the letters SPQR.

Theo is eighteen, powerful, and unclaimed. And his resemblance to Percy could set a dangerous precedent.

Percy is braced against it, holding Annabeth protectively and looking at the ceiling as Leo swore something fierce. A nasty storm turns the Argo II into a glorified rollercoaster, and Percy steps out into the pouring rain to put a stop to it. (It is a difficult thing to remember that Poseidon is the god of storms, not Zeus.)

The lady at the counter curiously glanced over before lifting a questioning brow. “My brother – half-brother, technically, I have much better breeding – decided to run away from home to where our father can’t reach him and now he won’t leave. And now I can’t leave unless he leaves,” Triton continued. Percy opened his mouth to object that wasn’t what happened at all, but the tyrant only waved a hand to silence him. “He’s seen war or whatever, so if you could maybe just drug him then I’ll throw him into a suitcase and we can be out of here by the Summer Solstice!” Silence. Finally, the woman cleared her throat and turned to Percy. “I’m guessing he’s the one you want checked into the mental hospital?” She asked. Triton gasped as Percy punched the air in victory. “Aha!” Or: Getting in trouble works a little differently when your parent is an all-powerful god. Sometimes you have to escape to the land beyond gods and get your immortal brother turned human to drag you back so you can be exploded a million pieces. You know, normal teenage stuff.
