Little Red Writing Hoods Book / Writing Club!! 🌹
For anyone coming across this post and wanting to learn more about the club's discord server read below!! 🌹
Here is a list of what our server does / offers:
Book of the Month (BoM) 🌹
We choose a book to read as a community, the books come from our book list, so if you have a book recommendation please let us know! After two weeks of announcing the BoM, we open up a forum page for everyone to share their thoughts. Disclaimer: BoM is not always monthly based since if everyone wanted to read for example Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen, everyone would need more time to read (since it's so long!)
Prompt of the Month (PoM) 🌹
Every month, a writing prompt is chosen for members to practice their writing skills. The PoM is usually done in the first weekly video call meetings. BUT members who don't want to / don't have the time to join these weekly meetings are more than welcome to do the PoM on their own time!
Weekly Meetings 🌹
Every Sunday (18:30 GMT or 10:30PT) we have a video call on our server to do a writing challenge! Writing challenges are meant to be fast. After the prompt is picked, we give ten minutes for everyone to brainstorm their individual stories, and then give everyone thirty minutes to write their stories. Then we post it! If you want to see our members' posts, check out @littleredwritinghoodsclub where we reblog those willing to post their hard work. (We also use the tag #little red writing hoods)
WIP Forums 🌹
If you want feedback on your personal WIP, you can post it on our WIP forum page and other members can read your work. You can also use this place to brainstorm a future story idea. Members are not allowed to repost, plagiarise, and/or steal other members' work.
Fandom Chats 🌹
Misc. topics outside of reading and writing.
To keep the server manageable, our server will cap at 50 members!!
This club is here for YOU! To make YOU a better writer! To make YOU have a safe place to talk about books! Do what feels best and be sure to keep your mental health limits in mind.

Important Announcement!!
Hello everyone, I (Fleurty) have a very big announcement! We have decided to ask if anyone is interested in becoming a moderator for the server.
Why now?
The past two months I have been struggling to make announcements, ping people for events, create polls, host events, and so on. I realized that I can't do it all on my own, and would appreciate some extra help. My lovely support team @caveatscriptor and @biron-ore have been amazing! But they too live very busy lives and I don't expect them to run this club 24/7. So it's only fair for them to have some support as well.
Main Responsibilities will include...
Making announcements for events.
Pinging the "Sunday goals" role if no one has done so for the day.
Hosting and creating events (could either be writing/reading related or something relaxing such as movie nights).
Additional thoughts
I'm very open to new ideas in making the server better and more active. I think it has been very chill behind the scenes, and am open to any member who wants to suggest an idea for the community. Lastly, I wanted to say I know this is a huge request, so please don't feel obligated to help out if you can't. I love this club, and I love the community we have built. And wanted to give a big thank you to everyone who has been part of this amazing journey.

Though Mom is ecstatic, emailing fan club moderators and getting on a first-name basis with the paparazzi (“Hi Gale!”), Jennette is riddled with anxiety, shame, and self-loathing, which manifest into eating disorders, addiction, and a series of unhealthy relationships. These issues only get worse when, soon after taking the lead in the iCarly spinoff Sam & Cat alongside Ariana Grande, her mother dies of cancer. Finally, after discovering therapy and quitting acting, Jennette embarks on recovery and decides for the first time in her life what she really wants.

We will be reading: The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller

Achilles, "the best of all the Greeks," son of the cruel sea goddess Thetis and the legendary king Peleus, is strong, swift, and beautiful, irresistible to all who meet him. Patroclus is an awkward young prince, exiled from his homeland after an act of shocking violence. Brought together by chance, they forge an inseparable bond, despite risking the gods' wrath.
They are trained by the centaur Chiron in the arts of war and medicine, but when word comes that Helen of Sparta has been kidnapped, all the heroes of Greece are called upon to lay siege to Troy in her name. Little Red Writing Hoods Writing Challenge!!
Book Club meeting for the Little Red Writing Hoods server~ @littleredwritinghoodsclub
Task: “You’ve found a door with four dials, this door always appears in your home (whatever/wherever you may consider home). Where do these four dials lead? What do they look like? And what about the door?” Prompt was created by @caveatscriptor
Time brainstorming: 10 minutes
Time writing: 30 minutes
I ended up having an idea for this prompt that is more ambitious than I intended. So this will be part one! And I'll hopefully be writing the rest of this little story sometime soon.
Note that I did not edit this at all, so you are really seeing what I write given 40 minutes on the clock.
The snow dissipated around the God of Death who emerged from a ring of blue fire encircling in the ground. The God of Death was none other than Hades and the ring of fire was a doorway to the underworld. He was on his way to see a special young girl, Victoria. His footsteps made a soft crunching sound, although it was not as harsh as the sound of bones he had to walk through in his domain.
The fiery ring expanded and the great three-headed dog, Cerberus leaped through. When he landed a plethora of snowflakes spewed upwards and came crashing down.
Hades had met Victoria two winters ago– he was taking Cerberus on a walk, and one day he came across a small girl playing in her family’s cabin. The young girl had her own beast, a doberman. Her and Hades bonded over their dogs playing with one another, and Hades had promised to visit her as much as he could.
Hades was amused by her innocent view of the world. He had never met a human who wasn’t intimidated by his three-headed beast, but Victoria greeted him with such innocent joy he was grateful to see his companion so happy from her compassion. This winter she was turning seven. And Hades wanted to give her something special for her birthday.
Victoria was dancing around her backyard with her own beast, the doberman named Mr. Bodyguard. Hades descended down from the snowy hill and Cerberus rushed down to Mr. Bodyguard and the two began to chase each other.
“How are you, little one?” asked Hades. He brushed off the snow that fell on Victoria’s hat.
“I’m great Hades!” she exclaimed through .a burst of giggles.
Hades reached into his dark blue cloak and took out a present. It was wrapped in star-filled paper and swirled with an ominous black sparkle. The bow that rested on top the gift was simmering with black sparkles.
Victoria opened it, and inside was a silver doorknob.
“Turning seven it is a very special occasion, and it only happens once. I wanted to give you something that would bring you as much joy as you bring me.”
Victoria was washed with a biggest smile Hades had ever seen. She hugged him tightly.
“What does it do?”
“I’ll show you.”

January's book has been officially decided! 🌹
Hitting the new year off with a scare, we're going to be reading the story, Coraline by Neil Gaiman next month for January.
🌹🌹🌹
"In Coraline's family's new flat are twenty-one windows and fourteen doors. Thirteen of the doors open and close. The fourteenth is locked, and on the other side is only a brick wall, until the day Coraline unlocks the door to find a passage to another flat in another house just like her own. Only it's different. At first, things seem marvelous in the other flat. The food is better. The toy box is filled with wind-up angels that flutter around the bedroom, books whose pictures writhe and crawl and shimmer, little dinosaur skulls that chatter their teeth. But there's another mother, and another father, and they want Coraline to stay with them and be their little girl. They want to change her and never let her go. Other children are trapped there as well, lost souls behind the mirrors. Coraline is their only hope of rescue. She will have to fight with all her wits and all the tools she can find if she is to save the lost children, her ordinary life, and herself."
