Jessie's Girl
Steve Harrington x fem!reader
Based on the song "Jessie Girl" by Rick Springfield
fake dating trope/ friends to lovers
summary: Y/n originally became friends with Steve because of her boyfriend Jessie. Steve was on the team with Jessie and one night during a celebration party, Steve and y/n met and soon became thick as thieves. Though Steve didn't originally plan to have a crush on y/n his feelings for her slowly developed even as he watched her and Jessie be Hawkins High's number one couple ... he also watched the two of them break up and get back together over and over again. So, when the two of them broke up and y/n showed up at his door on a Saturday morning asking for him to pretend to date her to make Jessie jealous, he was shocked to say the least.

“I’ll Play Along With This Charade.”
When Steve first met you, he thought you were the most annoying person he had ever met. You were always hanging off the arm of your boyfriend, his teammate, and friend, Jessie. Whether it be at a party after basketball games or just during school, you never left his side. Well, that was a year ago and a lot can change in a year. In that year, you and Steve had become thick as thieves as he was always the one defending you in the arguments between you and Jessie. Jessie would find anything to argue about, but you couldn't seem to give up on him and he could never seem to stay away from you. In that year, you and Jessie had broken up and gotten back together about 8 times. In that year, Steve had developed a crush on you, but he knew he couldn't do anything about it because you were his best friend and Jessie’s girl.
-------------------
You showed up on Steve’s doorstep on a chilly December afternoon. It was the Sunday after the winter formal and you were an absolute wreck. Jessie had decided that last night, in front of the entirety of Hawkins High, he would break up with you for the now ninth time in the past year. At first, you didn't care, you thought it was just another repeat in your on and off cycle, but Jessie quickly made it clear that was not the case.
You were standing there in front of the punch bowl, mid-argument with Jessie. Of course, he found something wrong with this perfect night. He was complaining about how your dress, which he absolutely loved three hours ago, was just far too “slutty” for you to be wearing. The dress was fine, maybe the top was cut a little low, but it looked great on you. So, in order to defend yourself, and your almost $100 dollar dress, you argued back. Mentioning how when he picked you up he was fine with the dress. He continued to argue, saying that you were just asking to be broken up with tonight.
“Y’know, y/n. A girlfriend that actually loves me wouldn't fucking wear this dress, let alone argue with me about it. You are just begging for me to break up with you.”
You could tell he was drunk. The punch was spiked, which is why you had barely drank your cup, but Jessie had downed at least 5 cups. You knew his words meant nothing, but they still hurt. Before you could even think about your actions, you threw your drink on him before turning to go sit on the bleachers.
“Great move, y/n. Well, guess what?” He yelled at you basically halfway across the gym. “We’re done.”
“Oh whatever, Jessie! You don't fucking mean that! You never do!” You yelled back at him. There was a twinge of both anger and sadness in your voice.
“Oh, this time I do. I’m not gonna take you back when you come crawling back to me this time.” A hearty laugh left his mouth after that statement, which was followed by gasps and laughs from the rest of the student body. Instead of heading to sit on the bleachers, you stormed out of the gym. The walk home wouldn't be bad as you didn't live too far from the school, but damn having to walk about half a mile in heels was atrocious. You cried the whole way home. Typically when the two of you broke up, you never cried as you always knew that you guys would be back together within the week. This time, it felt different. He said it himself he wasn’t taking you back. So, when you got home, you spent until midnight crying. Then you spent the time until you fell asleep concocting a plan to get him back.
Now you were here. Standing on the porch of Steve Harrington’s house just about breaking the doorbell with the way you had aggressively rung it multiple times. Finally, you were greeted by the familiar face of Steve. He looked like a wreck, he must be massively hungover from the night before. You assumed he had just woken up since he was still in his pajamas and his voice was still filled with sleep. He leaned against the door frame, a hand to his forehead. Yea, he was definitely hungover.
“Christ, Steve. You look like a damn mess.” You pushed past him into his house.
“Wow, good morning to you too, y/n. Thank you for completely interrupting my Sunday hangover sleep time.” He closed the door before turning around to you. You were now sitting on his couch flipping through the channels to see if you could catch the Sunday cartoons before they went off at noon. “Did you come over just to watch cartoons because I know damn well-”
“Shut up Steve. I didn't come over here just for cartoons. I have a proposition for you.” Finally landing on the cartoon channel, you set the remote down and leaned back. “Will you go out with me?”
“What?” Steve just about choked on his words. He looked away to cover the blush creeping across his face. He has wanted to hear you say those words for so long, but it didn't feel right hearing them. There wasn't the actual meaning behind them, he could hear it in your voice.
“Not, like, for real. Like, pretend to date me.” Steve was baffled by how you said those words so nonchalantly as if they were words you would often say to eachother often.
“Why?” He finally came over and sat next to you on the couch, leaning back as well.
“Well…” You took a deep breath knowing that this was going to be hard to explain. “Last night, you obviously heard the argument between Jessie and I, hell half the high school heard it. I know we're like magnets, can't keep us apart for long, but this time felt different. You heard him, Steve. He said he isn’t going to take me back. Yea, I know we probably have the shittiest relationship, but I love him. So, last night after walking home from the dance-”
“You walked home from the dance? Why didn't you get me, I could've driven you home?” Steve interrupted you, not letting you finish.
“Well, Steve, you were obviously inebriated. I wasn't gonna get in the car with you. Besides, I live close, it wasn't bad.” You winced thinking about the blisters on your feet from the walk home in heels. “Anyways, continuing with my story. I came up with a plan. I wanna make Jessie Keiser jealous and you’re gonna help me.” You wagged a finger at him. “I need you to pretend like after the dance you practically rescued me and I fell at your feet.”
“No, y/n. I’m not gonna do that. It’ll make you look bad.” Steve furrowed his brows. He wasn't going to tell you that the other reason why he wasn't going to do that was because of his massive crush on you.
“It’ll make me look like I don't care. Besides, chicks dig the hero type. Girls will be practically throwing themselves at you if it looks like you played hero for me.” You raised your eyebrows at him as if that was an obvious fact. “Please, Steve.” Your voice was softer now. “I know it’s stupid, but I need Jessie back. Okay, not need, but want. He’s the first guy to ever show me real love and I don't think I’m gonna get that anywhere else. Hell, he took my virginity, Steve. That has to mean something right? I just, I don't know. I feel like if he and I keep making our way back to each other, we’re meant to be.” You were now staring at your hands that were intertwined in your lap.
“You’ll find somebody else out there that’ll love you as much, possibly even more than he did.” Steve sighed. He knew he could be that person, but he wasn’t going to say it. He saw the desperate look in your eyes. You really wanted Jessie back that badly. “But…I’ll do it.”
Eyes wide, you tackled Steve from the side to give him a hug. “Thank you, Stevie.” He loved it when you called him that. Especially now, it was a sign that you were going back to your normal cheery self.
“If we're gonna do this, we gotta talk about boundaries though. Like, what does our fake relationship entail.” Steve wrapped his arms around you to return the hug.
You sat back with an impish grin on your face. “I’ve got ideas already, Steve. I think you should drive me to school like you did with Nance. It won't be much gas since I live close, but I’ll still give you gas money for driving me. Also, you could walk me to first period and 5th period after lunch. Jessie used to do that.”
“I could move to sit next to you in English and History.” Steve offered up his idea. This would definitely make Jessie jealous since he always sat next to you in English and History. Seeing his spot taken would piss him off.
“I like that idea.” You smiled at him. “Okay, uh what about nicknames? I mean I already call you Stevie, but you don't have a nickname for me.”
“I could just call you baby or babe. I’m not good at nicknames if you can't tell.” Steve scratched the back of his neck with an awkward smile.
You thought about it for a second. “I’m good with either of those. How do we feel about…PDA?” You knew this was going to be an awkward question, but if you wanted to make your relationship look real, there would have to be some PDA.
“Well.” Steve’s cheeks were red, he looked like a fire engine or a tomato. “What if I always had my arm around your waist or shoulder when we’re together or we could just hold hands.” Steve couldn't even look at you, he was so nervous. Of course, he dreamed about dating you and being able to have his arm around your waist or hold your hand, but telling you that he would want to do those things made him feel so awkward. He felt like a little boy again with a schoolyard crush.
“I’d be okay with that. Jessie never even held my hand when we walked in the halls, so it would be nice. Any of those options.” You cleared your throat. “So…kissing…what are we gonna do about that?” Suddenly, your hands seemed extremely interesting because you couldn't even look in Steves's direction when saying this. It was weird for you to ask your friend whether or not he wanted to kiss you, even if this was a fake relationship.
“We don't have to. I could maybe just place a kiss on your cheek or like the top of your head before we split up to head to our classes?” Steves's face was still very red, but you hadn't noticed as you were still staring at your hands.
“Yea, that works for me. I could give you a kiss on the cheek occasionally.” You now looked back up, but instead of looking at Steve, you stared at the cartoons on the tv. Heathcliff was playing. You loved that cartoon so much. You would watch it with Jessie on the mornings that you would wake up at his house after staying over. “I think that would be good. Anything else?”
Steve coughed a bit and decided to look at the tv too. “Not really related to the deal, but can we go get lunch?” He was starving and his hungover body was craving greasy diner food.
“Sure, Stevie. Go get normal clothes on first though, I’m not showing up at the diner with my boyfriend looking like he just rolled out of bed.” You bumped his shoulder with yours. Steve loved hearing you call him your boyfriend, even if it wasn't real, it sent his heart aflutter.
“But I did just roll out of bed.”  Steve whined.
a/n: hey guys! i really hope you guys end up liking this story. it came to me like randomly one day while I was listening to the song. let me know if you want to be added to the tag list!

Dove (Part 9)
Eddie Munson x fem!Henderson!reader and Steve Harrington x fem!Henderson!reader
first part | part 8
Summary: Dustin Henderson’s older sister finds herself in a predicament having to choose between Steve “the Hair” Harrington and Eddie “the Freak” Munson
a/n:  i’m pretty sure this is the last part, im gonna pretend like im not sad that it’s ending, but theres probably gonna be like a “homecoming and y’/n and Eddies life together” part knowing me. Also the gif I chose, once again has nothing to do with the chapter, I think this is just how Eddie looks at y/n
Tumblr media
Warnings: cussing, mention of a deceased parent, this is just pure fluff

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You were still feeling a little shaken, but the heart to heart with Dustin was much needed and it really helped you to figure out where your mind was at. You loved Steve, but you couldnt see him as much more than a friend and you couldnt stand the fact that you knew that would hurt him, it could even possibly lead to the possibility of you losing him. Eddie made you so happy, even Dustin said that he hadn’t seen you this happy since before your dad died. You had only been dating him for a week, but he came to your rescue when you needed it most and knew where to take you and what to do and that meant a lot. When you left Dustins room you had noticed Eddie was leaning against the kitchen island, staring off into the living room with a stressed look on his face. You walked over to him and wrapped him into a hug before he could say anything. He wrapped his arms around you, holding you close to him.
“I’m sorry for scaring you, Eds. I just felt so lost.” You squeezed your eyes shut, to keep you from crying again. “When Steve kissed me then told me he liked me, it scared me. I was scared about what to do because he’s one of my only friends. I couldnt stand losing another person, so I did what I do best. I shut down.”
“Its okay, love.” Eddie ran a hand through your hair. “I just wanted you to be okay. Yea, I was pissed at Harrington, but I cant blame him for fallin’ for ya. You’re the best girl in Hawkins.” He could feel you smile against him.
“I thought it was going to end up being a choice between you and him, but I’m so glad it wasn’t. He could still be my friend and obviously, I’ll still have you. Only if you want me though?” You leaned back from the hug to look him in the eyes.
“Of course I will. I want to be able to be there for you when this happens. You’re not losing me anytime soon.” He gave you a quick chaste kiss.
Dustin came out of his room a bit after you knowing you would want to be alone with Eddie for a bit just to talk to him about how you feel and what happened. He was happy to see you and Eddie just sitting there enjoying the company of eachother. He knew he was the right guy for you, there was no denying it. The moment was interrupted when the phone rang.
“I’ve got it.” Dustin said walking over to pick up the phone. When he answered, there was a mix of two voices arguing like they hadnt noticed that someone was speaking. “Henderson residence, this is Dustin.”
“Dustin, thank God.” Robin said into the phone. “Look, Steve here fucked up big time.”
“I’m quite aware.” Dustin interrupted before letting Robin finish.
“Okay okay, Henderson. I need to apologize to her and I dont know how.” This time it was Steve speaking into the phone. “I figured you’re her brother, you would know what to do.”
“Uhhh…” Dustin looked back at you, covering the receiver with his hand. “Hey, (y/n)? What kind of flowers do girls like?”
“Personally, I like daisies, but a lot of girls like roses. Why?” You quirked an eyebrow at him.
“Oh…uh, Lucas wants to get something for Max.” He nodded before turning back to the phone.
“Still there little man?” Steve asked.
“Yea, yea I’m here. Give her daisies or roses, I recommend daisies, thats what my sister likes.” Dustin then moved to put his hand over his mouth to whisper into the receiver. “Bring them to the gig tomorrow. It’s at the bar near Lover’s Lake.”
“Okay, I’ll be there. Do you want me to bring you?” Steve asked.
“Yup, I’m gonna hang up now. Bye.” Dustin hung up the phone, pleased with the fact that both of the men he looked up to could still be civil with his sister, but could they be civil with eachother?
-------------------------------
Saturday night came fast, you were anxious for your first performance. Eddie tried to convince you to just sit this one out after everything that happened yesterday, but you weren’t going to let the hard work of the band not pay off. You also were extremely excited to perform, especially because you were going to be performing with your boyfriend. Even on the ride to the bar Eddie would not let up on checkin in to make sure you were okay.
“Are you sure, (y/n)? I can turn the car around right now.” He would ask every few minutes just to hear you reply with the same thing over and over again.
“Yes, Eds. I’m fine, I will be fine.”
He asked one last time as he pulled into a parking spot by the back entrance of the building. You replied with the same answer you had been giving him for the past 20 minutes and he got out to open your door. You both walked into the bar, Eddie’s arm around your waist. You noticed the rest of the band was already there and they were pretty much set up. You decided to head to the bathroom to make sure you looked okay, but also just to have a minute of alone time before getting out on the stage. It was colder in the bathroom than it was in the bar, which helped to ground you a bit. You walked in front of the mirror to make sure you outfit looked as good to you as it did when you left the house. Luckily, you still liked the outfit. You decided to wear that lacy top you wore to auditions with a red leather skirt and some ripped tights, your boots tying the look all together. You felt like Joan Jett, a definite confidence booster since you were nervous about this whole night. Taking a deep breath, you looked in the mirror one last time before walking on.
The plan for the performance tonight, was for Eddie to introduce you as the new lead singer before singing the first song. You waited in the wings anxiously as the bar owner introduced Corroded Coffin, but you were instantly soothed at the sound of Eddie’s voice.
“How we doin’ out there tonight?” Eddie said, getting a few whoops and cheers in reply. “So, before we start, I want to introduce everyone to our newest, and most beautiful, band member…(y/n) Henderson.” Eddie motioned to you at the side of the stage, singalong for you to walk out. The walk onto stage was nerve-racking, but when you looked out into the crowd, you realized this was definitely something you could get used to. The cheers from the few people in the bar there to see you guys perform, but the one thing that caught your eye was your little brother standing with Robin and Steve towards the back of the crowd. It made you so happy to see the smile on Dustin’s face as he cheered for you as you walked on. By the time you were center-stage, Eddie had met you there and place an arm around your shoulder. “She’s my little dove and honestly, being with her has felt so damn freeing… also helps that she’s the peacekeeper in band arguments.” He chuckled a little. “She’s probably the best woman this band has ever seen and that I’ve had the pleasure to perform with and I can’t wait for you guys to see her work her magic.” Eddie leaned over to give you a quick kiss, he was immensely happy to be here with you and also he wanted to show every man in the bar that was eyeing you, that you were his girlfriend.
Even though Steve had told himself that he was going to be just your best friend and sit on the sidelines, it hurt like hell to see you and Eddie kiss on stage. He was proud of you though, he remembered the first time he heard you sing. It was the beginning of the work day and the mall hadn’t even opened yet. You were walking past Scoops Ahoy with your headphones on, singing along to Storms by Fleetwood Mac. You were so carefree and didn’t care if anyone heard you. It was early in the morning and the song comforted you and it was your favorite song to sing. It was also the only song that reminded you of your father that you could listen to without crying. He introduced you to Fleetwood Mac and Journey and pretty much all the music you listened to. Now, in the present, Steve was excited to get to hear you sing once again.
You took the microphone from Eddie’s hand. “Alright! Who’s ready for a show?” You said into the microphone as the band started playing the intro to Rock You Like A Hurricane. You performed the song just like you had practiced with Eddie, well almost exactly like you did with Eddie. You tried to focus on singing to the crowd more and also, you didn’t want to scar Dustin. The whole performance was amazing you were having probably the most fun you’ve had in a long time. You sang the last song of the set before bowing to the crowd and saying thank you. You turned around to look back at the band to see they were still set up to perform. Eddie walked up the microphone you had set down.
“Now I know we typically only do 5 songs, but I wanted to add an extra song in here tonight. This one’s dedicated to the best girlfriend a man could have.” He looked over at you and winked. “I know this song brings a lot of emotions for ya, but I couldn’t help but learn to play it when you told me the story behind it.”
The band started to play the intro to Lovin’, Touchin’, Squeezin’ by Journey. Your mind was brought back to the day you cried in the van with Eddie, telling him about how your parents used to slow dance to this in the living room. You remembered the tears streaming down your face and Eddie comforting you. That was the night you guys kissed for the first time. It was only a week ago, but it felt like he had been yours forever. When it got to the part where he would just repeat the “na na na na’s” he turned to the boys who continued to sing for him. He made his way over to you, hand held out saying he wanted to slow dance with you for the last minute of the song. You happily obliged. It felt amazing to be slow dance with him just the way your parents had when you were younger. Tears were streaming from your face, though this time they were tears of joy. Maybe you hadn’t completely checked all of the boxes of being exactly like you’re father, but it sure felt good to check this one off.
At the end of the song, Eddie held onto you for a second before letting you go. Both of you turning to face the crowd and bowing. You made your way off the stage and over to Dustin. He has tears in his eyes and you couldn’t tell if it was from joy or sadness, but either way you gave him the biggest hug ever.
“That was awesome, (y/n)!” He wiped a tear off his face.
“Thanks, Dusty.” You wrapped him in another hug before turning to Robin.
“Proud of you, girly.” Robin said opening her arms for a hug too. You hugged her back, both of you squeezing each other so much it felt like you couldn’t breath.
Then you looked at Steve, you hadn’t talked to him since everything that went down the day before. He offered up an awkward smile which you returned. You noticed he was holding flowers. A small bouquet of daisies and roses. You looked from the bouquet to him, expecting him to be the first to say something.
“You did great out there, kiddo.” He apparently was a kind reader or just knew that the silence was becoming extremely awkward.
“Thanks…what’s up with the flowers?” You raised a questioning eyebrow at him.
“I wanted to apologize and Robin said I should call Dustin to see what would work. He told me flowers and what you liked so, so I got those.” He held out the bouquet towards you.
“Oh…thanks…” You hesitantly took the flowers from him, once again giving an awkward smile. Eddie looked over from the stage where he was putting his guitar up to see Steve handing the flowers to you. He was a little nervous that Steve was trying to make a move on you again, so he made his way over.
“What’s goin’ on over here?” Eddie came over and wrapped an arm around you before looking at Steve then bouquet. He didn’t want to sound overprotective, but he was a bit weary of Steve after the events of yesterday.
“Shit, I’m just now realizing how romantic this looks. I’m not trying to make a move, I promise.” Steve held up his hands, eyes darting between you and Eddie.
“Steve’s trying to apologize for yesterday.” You looked over at Eddie. “Dustin gave him the idea of flowers. He’s extending an olive branch…minus the branch, plus flowers.” You gave him a reassuring smile as if to say it’s okay.
“Ahh okay. I was a little nervous there for a moment, Harrington.” Eddie nodded towards Steve.
“Yea, completely understandable. I just want (y/n) to know I’m sorry. Truly am. I shouldn’t have done that, I still hope we can still be best friends. I know you’re scared of losing people and you’re not gonna lose any of us. Okay?” Steve motioned to the group surrounding you.
“Okay.” You smiled. “Is it okay if we hug?” You asked Steve, nerves in your voice.
“Of course.” Steve smiled before pulling you into a hug. The rest of the group joining in.
This was pure bliss. After the 48 hours you’ve had, this hig with your favorite people was the cherry on top of a perfect night. You and Steve decided to stay best friends and you’re relationship with Eddie stayed perfect. There were ups and downs with both of them, but with both of them being some of the Henderson’s favorite people, they learned to get through it. You really were the dove of peace for them.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
a/n: okay so this is basically the “last part” to Dove, unless you guys want a Steve ending or I decide to write a part where it’s the future of y/n and Eddie, but for now I’m gonna work on some other fics Ive been thinking about for a while. I really hope you guys liked Dove <3

Dove (Part 8)
Eddie Munson x fem!Henderson!reader and Steve Harrington x fem!Henderson!reader
first part | part 7 | part 9
Summary: Dustin Henderson’s older sister finds herself in a predicament having to choose between Steve “the Hair” Harrington and Eddie “the Freak” Munson
a/n: no thoughts, just the sound of me typing. Also the gif I chose has almost nothing to do with this chapter, all I could think about when writing Robins part was this scene/ the white board from season 3.
Tumblr media
Warnings: mention of a parents death, angst, swearing, Steve being an absolute dumbass

---------------------------------------------------------------------------
“Come on, (y/n). I’m gonna take you home, I dont think this is the environment you should be in right now.” Eddie wrapped his arm around you shoulders and starting walking towards the stairs with you. You nodded without saying a word, you wanted to be home right now with Dustin, he would know what to do and what to say.  He always has ever since he was a kid. You could never understand how someone so young could be so wise beyond his years, but right now he was the only person you could fully talk to. You could talk to Eddie, but your voice was weak, you didnt know what to say to him after what happened. You could barely even look at Steve, let alone speak to him.
Eddie was ushering you out of the house to his car as Robin got there on her bike. She looked between you and Eddie and then raised an eyebrow. “What happened here?”
“Well…” Eddie took a very deep breath trying his best not to yell. “Harrington broke (y/n). I recommend you ask him the rest of the story. She’s not really speaking right now.” He looked down at you, there was so much worry in his eyes, he was hoping he would never have to see you like this after hearing about it from your brother.
“Shit.” Robin shook her head before going inside.
It wasnt long before you were sitting in the passenger seat of Eddie’s car, his jacket wrapped around your shoulders, it was the only thing that could really comfort you right now. You just wanted your brother. You hadnt even realized you left your car at Steves until you were halfway home.
“Eds, my car.” Your voice was super quiet, but just loud enough so that he could hear you.
“We can come back and get it tomorrrow.” He said, sounding a little more angry than he meant to be making you flinch a bit. “Sorry, I just think you need to be around Dustin right now, he’s uh told me about this kind of stuff happening before and I know he can help you.” Eddie loosened his grip on the steering wheel a bit.
You were home within 10 minutes thank you Eddie’s speeding. When you got inside, you rushed to Dustin’s bedroom door and gave a little knock before going in. Eddie was trailing behind you a bit knowing that you would need it to be just you and Dustin for a bit. Dustin was shocked to see you home so early knowing it was movie night, but when he studied your face he realized your eyes were puffy from the amount of crying you had done earlier. He saw Eddie behind you and gave him a nod signaling to him that things were gonna be okay, but it needed to be just the siblings right now. After Eddie walked away and closed the door, Dustin finally spoke.
“(Y/n), what happened?” Dustin came to hug you. “Do someone hurt you?”
You shook your head. “Not physically, maybe a little emotionally.” You sighed. “Okay, maybe a lot emotionally.”
Dustin sat down on his bed and you sat across from him on the floor with you back against the wall. “Let’s unpack this, okay?” His voice was always calm in these situations because he knew you felt vulnerable and the smallest amount of negativity in a voice could break you even further. “What happened?”
You closed your eyes before explaining the situation to Dustin. “I was at Steve’s, we were making pizza, having fun like we always do and then we were having a flour war and he cornered me and kissed me.” You sighed. “He didn’t necessarily force it on me, it just was sudden. It scared me….it confused me.”
“Okay, thats okay.” He  took a second to think about what he was going to say next. “Why did it confuse you?”
You didn’t want to admit it confused you because you kissed him back, but when it came to moments like this, secrets weren’t an option. “It confused me because…because I kissed him back. I don’t know why I kissed him back, Ive never felt that way towards him.” You felt so shitty for admitting it out loud.
“Oh shit.” Dustin blinked a few times before continuing. “Yea that would confuse you. Do you like Steve, like in the way you like Eddie?”
“No, I don’t think so. Im all lost right now.” You hugged your knees into your body. “I don’t like Steve the way I like Eddie. I think I was just all caught up in that movie-like moment that I don’t even know what took over me, but then after when I was absolutely balling my eyes out in the bathroom, he admitted he had liked me since June. How does somebody react to that? How was I supposed to react to that?” You squeezed your eyes shut feeling the tears well up.
Dustin moved to sit next to you. “It’s okay. I know this is gonna be hard, but one of them is gonna have to be let down and I think I know who you want to let down.” He placed a hand on your shoulder. “I see the way you look at Eddie and the way he looks at you. Yes, its fucking gross to see my idol kissing my sister, but I haven’t seen you this happy since before dad died. The choice is yours though.”
He was right, in the 3 years since dad died, you hadn’t felt as free as you did with Eddie. Yea Steve and Robin were your best friends, really your only friends, but you’d only ever opened up to Robin. “I think I know who I’m gonna choose. Thank you so much, Dusty.” You turned to wrap your brother into a hug.
-------------------------------
Meanwhile, back at Steve’s, Robin was absolutely going off on him. She knew about you shutting down and what happens and why they happen. She was fuming when she saw Eddie bringing a broken you out of the house when she got there and knew Steve had to do with it. Yes, she encouraged him to tell you his feelings, but what could he have possibly done to cause this.
“Hey, Stevie.” She said in the sweetest tone possible before turning on him. “What the fuck did you do to (y/n)?! I get here and see Munson taking her out of the house and she’s not even speaking. How the hell did you manage to do that, huh?” Robin was extremely defensive over you in this moment, you were in a very vulnerable state. “I mean yea, I encouraged you to tell her your feelings, but what the hell could have possibly done to cause this. Also, what with the mess in the kitchen and the flour all over you? Did you-“
Steve cut her off before she could ask anymore questions. “Geez, Robin. Let me get a fucking word in. I told her I liked her, yes, but I fucked up. I was stupid.” He leaned against the wall.
“That’s not new.” Robin mumbled under her breath before letting him continue.
“We we’re making pizza and it turned into a flour war, hence the mess.” He motioned to himself and the kitchen. “Then I kinda cornered her, she surrendered, then I…kissed…her…” Steve winced as he said those last few words.
“You kissed her?” Robin scoffed. “Didnt think to ask her if you could, just went in for it?” Her arms were crossed, shoulders squared. She looked like a mother disciplining her child.
“I know it was wrong, but she kissed me back. I thought that was my sign, until she ran into the bathroom and started crying. So, I followed her. I told her how I felt and she didn’t say anything, just got up and jumped into the pool. I called Eddie, I figured he could fix it.” Steve was doing his best to look anywhere but Robin, but he could still feel the heat of her glare on him.
“Steve, Im gonna tell you something that is gonna be super fucking personal to (y/n) okay?” Steve nodded and Robin took that as a sign to continue. “Ever since her dad died, she doesn’t handle her emotions well. He was her rock and then he was gone, yea she has Dustin, but he’s not the same. So when she’s overwhelmed,  especially when she gets confused and can’t figure out her emotions or reasons behind her actions, she shuts down. You kissing her, then spewing out your emotions, confused her, man. You weren’t supposed to do that like that.” Robin did her best not to sound bitchy and more educative, but she was pissed and Steve needed to know.
“I had no idea…” Steves voice was barely above whisper.
“Yea, no one does, not even her mom. Obviously, me and Dustin know and probably Eddie now too, but she hides it. She avoids stuff that’ll trigger her. Why do you think we never watch Jaws? It was her dads favorite movie, she can’t even look at the cover without crying or how she hardly ever lets us listen to Journey in the car, it was her dads favorite band.  Why do you think she has no plans post-high school? It’s because she cant stand the confusion and stress of picking somewhere to go and what the hell she has to do for the rest of her life. She doesnt like having to choose, so she always goes with what she knows is certain. Like when she auditioned for the band, it was because she knows music, but having to choose between you and Eddie, she could never possibly do that. He’s her boyfriend and your her best friend, hell we’re her only friends Steve, she cant handle losing people.” Robin took a deep breath and looked at Steve waiting for a response, but when he didnt give one she continued. “Why do you think that a week ago she was scared to tell us she was gonna miss movie night and was bargaining with us? Hmm? It’s because she’s scared that if she fucks up, even a little bit, she’s gonna lose us. She lost the most important person in her life and we filled that spot the best we could.”
“I didnt realize we were that important to her. She never talks about these things, she’s just quiet when we ask her how she feels if she looks anything other than happy.” Steve ran a hand through his hair. “I shouldn’t have done that, I feel so shitty. I never should have told her, especially after seeing her with Eddie.” He raised his hands to cover his face.
“Now figure out a way to apologize to her, dingus.”

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The week went by fast, nothing eventful really happening. On Tuesday, you had your first full rehearsal with Corroded Coffin, it was good. Eddie was excited to be performig with his girlfriend and you were excted to be performing at all, but especially with him. The band learned the 5 songs they would be playing during the performance this week and it was safe to say everyone was excited nd happy with the set list. You spent Wednesday sitting in the room where the Hellfire club meets during their meeting rather than just waiting around at home for the meeting to get over. With Eddie now being your boyfriend and him being the dungeon master, you got a pass in the “no girls” rule. So, you sat in during the meeting and read your book, occasionally looking over at Eddie. You were mesmerized by him when he played dungeons and dragons, the way his face lit up and how he would do voices for all the side characters. Thursday was also pretty normal, Steve picked you up to drive you to work since he had a shift at the same time at Family Video. It was kind of last minute since your manager had called you and asked you to come in after son was too sick to come in.  You always enjoyed your rides to work with Steve, he would always play Duran Duran, but only the songs you liked by them, skipping over the ones you didnt care for. After your favorite song, Steve turned down the music.
“Hey, (y/n), would you be able to come over a bit earlier tomorrow? I know you said you would buy food for the movie night this week, but I wanted to make pizza from scratch and I think I’m gonna need some help.” Steve drummed his thumbs on the steering wheel, he could feel his heart pounding in his chest and he hoped you couldnt hear it.
“Sure, Stevie.” You chirped. “Do you need me to bring anything?  Y’know my mom has the best pizza sauce recipe.”
“Sure.” A smile grew on his face. “I love Claudia’s pizza sauce. Also, what movies are we renting for the double feature?” Steve raised an eyebrow at you as he pulled into the parking lot of Ross’s Records.
“Halloween one and two.” You said, unbuckling your seatbelt. You knew Steve hated the second Halloween movie, but you took advantage of the fact that you got to choose.
“Seriosuly?!” Steve took his hands off the wheel. “You can't pick any other movie? You know I can't stand Halloween 2.”
“Its my choice, Steve, and I pick the Halloween movies.” You booped his nose before grabbing the handle to get out of his car.
As you closed the car door, Steve rolled the window down. “I’ll be back at 9:00, Henderson.”
“See ya then, Stevie.” You said with a smile and a wave before he drove off.
You had always been a little flirty with Steve, but there was never anything behind it. It was just who you were. Steve could never tell if you were being serious in your flirting with him, so he woudl try to play back and pretend like he wasnt actually flirting with you. Now, he felt mor uncomfortable being as flirty with you as you were with him since you were dating Eddie. He didnt want either of you to feel like he was coming in between your relationship. In your case, you kept up with it because that was just how you and Steve were.
-------------
The first hour of work was exceptionally boring. Nobody was coming in, which you understand, it was a Thursday night at dinner time so msot people were at home. You were leaning over the counter flipping through a random magazine you found in the breakroom when you heard the bell ring as the door opened. You looked up to see who it was and it was no other than your boyfriend.
“Hey babe.” He said, sauntering up to the counter. “I didnt realize you were working tonight?”
“Yea, I picked up an extra shift because Ross’s son couldnt make it in.” You closed the magazine and set it down on the counter.
“Wait, how’d you get here? Your cars not in the lot.” Eddie said questioning, he wasnt trying to sound possessive or overprotective, he was just curious. He knew your moms car wasnt in the shop anymore and so he figured you would drive yourself.
“Oh, Steve dropped me off. It was no big deal.” You said non-chalantly with a shrug.
“I couldve gotten you, yknow?” Eddie said, brows furrowing a bit. He was feeling a pang of jealousy by the fact that you asked Steve to drop you off at work rather than him. He wasnt necesarily mad, he knew you were friends with Steve, but he still couldnt help but feel jealous. He had always seen how flirty you were with Steve, but he brushed it off knowing that you were just a naturally flirty person. Besides, you were his girlfriend, so he didnt feel the need to be too jealous of Steve.
“I know!” You smiled placing a hand on his arm. “I just know he also had a shift tonight at the same time, so I figured he could just drop me off on the way to work and we could both save some gas.” You could feel the slight jealousy radiating off of him and wanted to reassure him that everything was fine. “Besides,” You moved from behind the counter, so that you were right in front of him. “You're my boyfriend, you get to drive me everywhere else, and you get to kiss me and hold my hand. Steve doesnt get to do that.” You looked around really fast before placing a hand on his cheek and going in for a kiss.
Eddie placed his hands on your hips, looping his finers through your belt loops to pull you in closer causing you to wrap your arms around his neck. He moved a hand up from your hips to caress your cheek before pulling gently at your bottom lip, asking to kiss you deeper. You accepted, opening your mouth to let his tongue slide in. The two of you sat there like that for a while, letting the moment last and exploring eachothers mouths, occasionally letting out soft moans. You knew you werent supposed to be kissing in the shop, especially like this, but you didnt care. There was nobody else in the store besides your manager, but he was in the back doing inventory. You two only pulled away once your manager walked out to check on the store, catching you in the act.
“Henderson.” Ross sighed. “If youre gonna makeout with your boyfriend, dont do it in front of the windows.”
“Yes, sir.” You saluted him before letting go of Eddie with a giggle. You looked back at Eddie. “Okay mister, I need to get back to work.”
“Okay okay, I’ll go grab what I came here for then checkout.” He gave you a quick kiss on the cheek before walking away.
The rest of your shift went on normally after Eddie left. Only 4-5 customers came in before the store closed and Steve picked you up at 9:00 to take you home. When you got home, you ate some leftovers for dinner and finished your homework before going to bed.
-------------
The time came around Friday fro you to head over to Steves house to make pizza for movie night. You spent the 2 hours between school and the time you had to leave making your mothers famous pizza sauce. The recipe was difficult to follow, but you think you mastered it, it at least tasted liek how it does when your mom makes it. You walked out of the house, jar of sauce and sweatshirt in hand and headed over to Steve’s. The drive wasnt too long considering Steve lived fairly close to your house. When you got there, the door was already unlocked and slightly ajar and you could hear music drifting out of the house. You decided to go ahead and walk in. You found Steve in the kitchen dancing slightly to the mixtape you guys had made over the summer while you was working on mixing the ingredients for the pizza dough.
“Woah.” You said setting the sauce down on the counter. “Harringtons got moves.”
Steve stopped in his tracks and looked up to see you standing there with a smile on your face. “Geez (y/n), knock next time.” He wiped his hands on the apron he was wearing before running them through his hair.
“Dont leave your door unlocked and open next time, Stevie.” You walked over to grab a spare apron that was hung up by the pantry. “Now, lets get to cooking.” You made your way over to him and tied up the apron.
Steve liked seeing you like this. Standing in his kitchen with an apron on and cooking with him, it felt so domestic. He wanted to tell you then and there how he felt and that he wished you would be cooking with him everyday, but he knew it wasnt the best time or way to tell you. So, he turned back to the dough and started mixing it again until it was ready to be kneaded and rolled out.
“(Y/n), can you hand toss some flour on the counter so I can start kneading this dough?” He put one hand on his hip, the other holding the ball of dough.
“Sure.” You said with a sly smile. You grabbed some flour and threw it at him jokingly. The flour was all over the top of his apron and his face, but there was also some in his hair.
“Not the hair!” He whined  before grabbing a fistful of flour and chucking it at you, getting it on your clothes.
“Harrington, these are my favoritte jeans. You're so dead.” You grabbed flour and started chasing him in circles around the kitchen island.
In the time the two of you were running around the kitchen, you both had thrown so much flour at eachother that there was more flour in the kitchen than there was of anything related to pizza. You and Steve were both competitive so you were both playing to win. Steve knew your weakness though, you were super ticklish on your sides. He cornered you before grabbing onto you sides and tickling you, leaving you defenseless.
“Okay okay.” You said between laughs. “You win. You win.” You put your hands up in surrender.
Even though you surrendered, Steve kept his hands on your side. His eyes meeting yours and then flicking down to your lips then back to your eyes. You looked up at him, tilting your head.
“Everything alright, Stevie?” You brushed a piece of hair beind your ear, raising your eyebrow.
“Yea…yea… it’s just uh…” He trailed off still looking at you. Taking a deep breath, he swiftly moved his lips to meet yours. Your eyes went wide before relaxing into him and kissing him back.
‘Shit shit shit, am I kissing him back? Why am I kissing him back?’ You thought to yourself. ‘Im with Eddie, I shouldnt be kissing him back. Whats wrong with me?’
You put your hands on Steve’s chest before he pulled away, completely letting go of you. “Steve?” You whispered.
“Shit, (y/n). I’m sorry, I shouldnt have done that.” He ran a hand through his hair before turning around and pacing. “What the fuck was I thinking?” You kept talking to himself, not even noticing how you had left the room.
You made your way to the bathroom, placing your hands on the counter where the sink was and staring into the mirror. “What has gotten into you, (y/n)?” You said aloud to yourself. “You’re not supposed to do that.” You could feel the tears building behind your eyes. You were so lost, so confused. You liked Eddie and the way he treated you, but that kiss with Steve felt so magical. You and Steve have a longer history than the one you had with Eddie. Tears started running down your face. “Shit shit shit.” You threw your head back crying. You didnt understand why you were so confused on this situation. You backed up and slid down the wall, soft sobs coming from your mouth. You didnt want Steve to hear you, you didnt want anyone to hear you.
There was a soft knock on the door. “(Y/n)? Please let me in, I’m sorry. I just think we need to talk about it.” You could hear the hurt in Steve’s voice.
You shuffled over to unlock the door, staying on the ground. “Come in.” Your voice was soft and broken. You didnt want to move or to speak, you were hoping that if you just stayed quiet, Steve would just walk away. You should’ve known better, though, he wasnt gonna walk away until he figured out if you were okay.
“I shouldn’t have done that, (y/n).” Steve walked in and leaned against the tub, sitting almost across from you. “I know you’re with Eddie and I respect that, I know my actions just then didnt show that, but I do. I see how happy he makes you.” He drew in a large breath before continuing to speak. “I just wish I could be the person making you as happy as he does. I’ve liked you since I saw you walk into the comic book store across from Scoops Ahoy and I’ve just never had the courage to tell you. Then when I saw you with Munson, I realized I waited too long and I guess my emotions just built up and…and-” He cut himself off, putting his head in his hands.
You looked over at him. “Steve?” You whispered again, not having the energy to make your voice any louder. The confusion of your emotions had drained you. “I dont know what to say to you right now. I-I dont mean that in a bad way it’s just, I’m so confused. I just dont really understand the emotions I’m feeling right now and I want to tell you how I feel, but I dont know. Im lost.” The back of your head hit the wall. You were sobbing, hands over your eyes.
Steve started to cry too. This was the last thing he wanted. He never wanted to confuse you or stress you out. “This was the absolute last thing I wanted, (y/n). I shouldnt have done this. I never wanted to confuse you or make you feel like you have to choose. God, I’m so stupid.” He pressed the heels of his hands into his eyes.
You stood up wordlessly. You needed to get out of there, you wanted to still stay for movie night, but damn you felt so shitty right now. You made your way out to the pool in his backyard and started to take off your shoes and socks, then your sweater, then your jeans. Now that you were in your underwear, you dove into the pool. The water was freezing considering it was mid to late September in Hawkins, Indiana, but the cold water brought you comfort in that moment. You didnt want to get out, you were probably going to get hypothermia, but swimming around in the water felt so good, it was helping you clear your mind.
While you were diving into the pool, Steve called Eddie. He remembered his number from the one time they had a school project together. He knew he couldnt help you right now, but he knew Eddie could. All Steve could say was “Eddie, I need you to get here right fucking now. I - I think (y/n) needs you.” He didnt even let Eddie speak before hanging up the phone. Eddie knew he needed to get there fast, he ran out of his house and sped his way to you. He was worried, when he arrived to Steves house, he burst through the door and came to look for you, but ran in to Steve first.
“Where the hell is she, Harrington?” Eddies hands were in fists, he thought he hurt you. Which he did, but not physically.
“She’s in the pool, I cant get her to come out.” He pointed to the door. “I dont know man, it’s ike something in her… broke.”
Eddie pushed past Steve, leaving him there in the kitchen. When he got out to the pool he first saw the pile of your clothes left by the pool side and then he saw you, just floating there with your eyes closed. It really did feel like something in you broke. This always happened and you and Dustin were the only two people who knew about it. Whenever your emotions were overwhelmed, you just broke. You wouldnt speak to anyone besides Dustin and would function almost robotically. It always started with you doing something drastic, the first time it happened you shaved your head. It absolutely pissed off your mom, but Dustin understood, it was right after your fathers death and you didnt know how to feel. This time you jumped in the freezing cold pool.
“(Y/N)!” The sound of Eddies voice bringing you back to reality.  You moved quickly to get out of the pool and ran into his arms. He wrapped his arms around, not caring that you were soaked from the pool. “Jesus Christ, are you okay?”
“I’m okay, Eds. I’m okay.” You said snuggling your head into his chest, tears beginning to fill your eyes.
He placed a kiss on the top of your head before pulling away from the hug.  “Let’s get you dry okay?” His voice was soft and comforting. He went over to pick up your clothes and then came over to you to grab your hand and leave you inside. He walked over Steve with daggers in his eyes, he knew Steve had something to do with this, but he just couldnt figure out what it was. “Do you have an extra room and a towel?”
“Y-yeah, up the stairs to the left, there should be a hall closet with towels next to the bathroom.”  He pointed out.
Eddie lead you up the stairs to a guest room, placing your clothes on the bed before heading into the hall to grab you a towel. “Here.” He handed you the towel. “Dry off. I’ll be right outside okay?.” He hugged you one last time before going to sit out in the hall.
While you were getting dried off and dressed, Steve came up to Eddie in the hall. Eddie stood up, he was getting a little hostile, but he was very sure Steve did something to hurt his girlfriend. Steve just wanted to apologize to Eddie for what he did and to explain what was going on, he knew you probably werent going to talk. “I’m sorry, man. I fucked up, I really did.” Steve placed his hands on his hips.
“What the hell did you do to her, Harrington? Why the fuck was the in the pool in her damn underwear?” Eddie crossed his arms, he was very protective of you in this moment. He’s heard of this happening before a little bit from Dustin. About how when you were overwhelmed with your emotions, you would do something stupid and shut down. He figured you were close to a shut down, so he knew he wasnt going to get anything out of you.
“You’re gonna hate me, Munson.” Steve sighed. “Well, more than you already do.” He looked away blinking a bit before admitting what he did. “I kissed her, in the kitchen, nothing more. After, she ran into the bathroom and just broke, she wouldnt stop crying. She could barely speak to me, she could barely speak at all.”
“You did WHAT?!” At first Eddie was trying to keep his voice low, but after Steves admission, he couldnt keep it down. “You know she’s my girlfriend, dude. What the ever loving fuck?”
“I know, I know. It was super shitty of me, okay?” Steve put his hands up in surrender. “I shouldnt have done it, I crossed a fucking line and I dont know what got into me. She’s my best friend and I fucked things up, I know that.”
Before Eddie could respond, you opened the door behind him and came out, your hair wrapped up in a towel. You tucked yourself into Eddies side and nodded at Steve as if to say hi. You didnt want to speak, you felt that if you opened your mouth you would say something that would hurt someone. You knew that no matter how this situation turned out, you would hurt someone.

The Queens of Hawkins
Chrissy Cunningham x fem!Reader
Tumblr media
Warnings: this is just pure fluff, there isn't an actual mention of homophobia in Hawkins, but it's implied
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“Nobody can know, okay?” You said to Chrissy. The two of you were sitting in your room, faces filled with tears of joy.
Chrissy had been your best friend since you both showed up to cheer tryouts freshman year. Both of you being scrawny, little, freshmen with dreams of being cheerleaders; bonding over the fact that you were both super nervous. Ever since that day, you were mesmerized by Chrissy, but nobody ever knew, except your second closest friend, Robin Buckley. You knew from day one that you liked Chrissy as more than just a friend, but if you told her and she didn't feel the same, you would instantly become the mockery of your small town.
For Chrissy, you were the coolest person she had met in Hawkins, she knew practically the whole school, but somehow, you were still the coolest to her. She had only figured out a year ago that she liked you and she had been pining for you since. She dated a guy or two from freshman to junior year, but none of them had ever made her feel as special as you did. Even though you couldn't admit to her that you liked her, you always wanted her to feel loved and special. You were always getting her gifts or taking her out for pizza or dinner, her boyfriends would never do this for her.
Both you and Chrissy had known for a while that you weren't straight. You had known since 8th grade when you shared your first kiss with Robin while playing spin the bottle at an all-girls sleepover. Robin was the only one you told that you were a lesbian and she was super accepting of you, years later you would find out she was on the same team as you. Chrissy figured out she was bisexual towards the end of sophomore year. After watching Revenge of the Nerds with her boyfriend at the time, she realized she had a huge crush on Julia Montgomery.  That brings us to today when you and Chrissy both admitted how head over heels you were for each other.
You and Chrissy spent every Saturday night together. It would start with one of you going to the other’s house and ordering Fettucine’s takeout, you would always order the same thing: a tin of lasagna for the two of you to share. After dinner, you would watch a movie until both of you fell asleep on the couch. It was simple, but it was the one thing you looked forward to all week. Tonight started no different than the rest, except for when you and Chrissy had finished your tin of lasagna and were sitting in your room listening to a Carpenters record your mom got you for your birthday. Chrissy was lying on your bed while you were curled up in a chair in the corner of your room. You had been drifting off slightly, but were trying to stay up because it was only 8:30 and you knew the living room would be free from your younger brothers by 9:00. You hated having to wait until 9:00 to start the movie, but the twins were having their hockey team over for dinner that night, so sitting in your room until everyone left was the best option.
“Hey, can I talk to you about something?” Chrissy said suddenly, she was still lying in your bed, staring at the ceiling.
“Is that even a question? Of course, you can.” At first, Chrissy’s sudden noise had frightened you a bit, but now you were concerned by her question.
“Have you ever… felt like you do about a guy… towards a girl?” Chrissy still hadn't moved,  but her voice was very nervous. She was afraid to look you in the eyes, but to you, it looked like she was just lying there thinking.
Your eyes turned wide. ‘Did she find out? Who told her?’ You thought to yourself, shifting around in your seat. “I-I’m not exactly sure what you're saying, Chrissy?” You tried to cover up your nervousness around the topic.
“I guess what I’m saying is have you ever, like, liked a girl?” She was now sitting up and looking at you. She had her legs pulled to her chest, hugging her knees.
“I- I mean… I guess I’ve thought there were girls who were super pretty.” You moved around so you were now looking out the window. “I don't know about liking them though. I mean, there’s this one girl, but…” You trailed off not really knowing what to say, you already felt like you had said too much and felt bad for lying to your best friend. It was hard to look her in the eyes, so you focused on the tree in your backyard that was swaying in the wind.
“Oh.” You could hear the disappointment in Chrissy’s voice, but you couldn’t tell if she wanted you to drop it or try and keep the conversation going. You decided you wanted to try and question her a bit.
“Is everything okay, Chrissy?” You finally looked back at her. Her head was down eyes focused on her hands.
“Um…” Chrissy drew in a deep breath. “It’s just, there's this girl, who is totally tubular and I think I like her.” She was still staring at her hands, this time fidgeting with the friendship bracelet you made for her at cheer camp 3 years ago and a soft smile on her face.
“That’s super cool, Chrissy.” You smiled at her even though she couldn't see it. You were a bit jealous that there was this girl that made Chrissy feel this way, but you didn't care as long as she was happy. “Who’s the lucky lady? I mean you don't have to tell me if you don't want to though.” You were nervous causing you to start to ramble a bit. You didn't want to make her uncomfortable, but it would be great to know who this girl was.
“Well…” Chrissy now looked up at you, meeting your eyes. She blinked a bit as she took a very nervous and shaky breath. “She’s you.” You could see a few tears coming out of her eyes, this must've been so hard for her to admit to you.
You got out of your chair and rushed over to her, cupping her face to wipe the tears from her eyes. “Hey hey hey, it's okay!” You smiled at her. “I like you too, I have for a while now.” You could feel the blush creeping across your face.
Chrissy now met your eyes. “Wait, really?” She said, putting her hands on your shoulders.
“Yea, since freshman year cheer tryouts.” You looked away with a slightly embarrassed smile.
Chrissy took one of her hands off of your shoulder so she could turn your face back to meet hers. She studied your face, not knowing what to say. She felt stupid for not having noticed sooner, but she also had been tied up in school work and boys to even try and figure out her own emotions. Her eyes trailed across your face until they eventually landed on your lips. This was a moment she had been waiting for, for almost a year now. “Can I kiss you?” A smile spread across her face.
“Y-yea.” You stutter a bit not exactly knowing how to react. You were happy, but also super nervous.
Chrissy moved her face closer to yours before placing a chaste kiss on your lips. She pulled away with a smile on her face, tears in her eyes again, but this time they were tears of joy. You couldn't help but giggle and wipe her tears away again, tears of joy falling from your eyes as well. You both had been waiting for this moment for a long time and finally getting to have it felt great. You smiled again before pulling Chrissy back in for another kiss. This time, you both sat there, kissing each other for a while until it felt right to pull away.
“Do you wanna maybe be my girlfriend?” You moved your hands from the side of her face down to hold her hands. Chrissy’s eyes were glistening and you couldn't tell if it was from the moment you had just had or if it was because of the way she was crying not too long ago.
“Yes! Yes, of course!” She took her hands out from yours to wrap you in a warm, loving hug.
Once again, you both sat there for a bit, both just enjoying each other's warmth. You were crying again, you couldn't think of a time recently when you had felt this happy. You both were so happy to finally call each other your own.
“Nobody can know, okay?” You pulled away from your hug with Chrissy, putting your hands on her shoulder. “As much as I would love to shout from the rooftops that you’re my girlfriend, I don't want either of us to get outcasted by the town.” There was a sadness in your voice, you hated to keep your relationship a secret, but if people found out, you and Chrissy would be the new freaks of Hawkins.
“Okay.” She nodded. “We can be the secret queens of Hawkins.”  Chrissy said before pulling you in for another kiss.
a/n: I literally have been thinking about this for days now and I just had to write it. I thought it would be cute for Chrissy to be dating another cheerleader. I might write a second part, but let me know if you guys want one. Also two posts in one night. Who am I?

------
You spent all of Sunday cleaning around the house with your mom and Dustin. You were in the midst of cleaning your room when your brother called up to you from the kitchen.
“(Y/N)! PHONE!” Dustin yelled.
“Coming!” You yelled back, leaving th feather duster you had on your bed.
When you got into the kitchen, Dustin handed you the phone. “It’s Robin.”
“Hey, Rob. Whats up?” You said taking the phone from Dustin.
“(Y/N/N). A little birdie told me that you were on a date with Munson last night?” You could hear Robin’s smirk in her voice.
“Would that little birdie happen to be Steve?” You said, eyebrows raised even though she couldnt see it.
“Maybe… but is the little birdie correct?”
“Yes, Robin, that little birdie is correct.” You felt a smile creep across your face remembering last night.
“Oh. My. GOD! Thats awesome! You have to tell me all about it. How did it happen? Are you guys like an official thing?” Her voice had a tone of excitement in it. You could tell she was happy for you.
“I will tell you all about it on the drive to school tomorrow. Ill pick you up at 7:30?” You wanted to end the phone call fast so that you could finish cleaning and start your homework.
“Works for me! Bye!” You heard the click as Robin hung up and put the phone back on the hook.
You started to walk back to your room to finish cleaning, but were stopped when you found your brother standing in the hallway, next to the the hall phone. His face was all scrunched up, he looked a little mad, but also a little happy.
“You went on a date with Eddie?” He said a little too loud and accusatory for your liking.
“Were you listening in on my phone call with Robin?!” You said also a little to loud and accusatory for both of your liking. You herded him into your room and closed the door.
“Maybe, but answer my question!” Dustin said, quieter now.
“Yes, I was, Dustin. We had a rehearsal after I got off work and so we both decided to go out to dinner and call it a date.” You said with an exasperated sigh.
“Are you guys a couple?” He asked now with a lighter tone to his voice.
“I dont know, Dustin. We didnt talk about that.” You sat down on your bed. Personally, you wanted to be an official couple with Eddie, you just didnt know how to say that, and you thought it mightve been too soon.
“Okay, just if you guys do become a thing, let him know that if he hurts you, he a goner. Okay?” Dustin came to sit next to you. “Also, if you hurt him, youre also a goner. I just really care about both of you and dont want to see either of you get hurt.”
“Thanks, Dusty.” You said wrapping him into a hug. “But never listen in on my phone calls ever again, okay?” There was a slight scolding tone in your voice.
“Okay.” He said hugging you back.
“I mean that, Dustin.” You said pulling away from the hug. “Now get out of my room, I need to finish cleaning.”
“Alright. Okay. I’m going.” Dustin said walking out of your room.
You spent the rest of Sunday cleaning your room and doing your homework. You also spent the rest of Sunday deciding whether or not you wanted to approach Eddie about being in an official relationship with him or wanted to wait for him to bring it up. You kept racking your brain and decided to just leave it alone for now. You began to slowly drift off to sleep.
------
You woke up at around 6:30 and started to get ready. You showered, brushed your teeth, all the usual stuff you would do to get ready. Today, your outfit of choice was a short, brown, dress you thrifted and your dads bomber jacket. You found yourself wearing your dads old jacket a lot recently. Your mom gave it to you for your 17th birthday stating that he was going to give it to you then because he got it when he was 17. You never had the urge to wear it until eary August came around, and now you wear it often. You had finished getting ready and put your shows on. Leaving for Robins house around 7:15, luckily Dustin always rode his bike to school with Mike and Lucas on Mondays, so you didnt have to give him a ride
Pulling into the driveway, you noticed Robin was already sitting on her porch ready to go. She was dressed up nicer than usual today, but she also seemed a lot more anxious then usual today. She hopped up and made her way to your car, plopping down into the passenger seat.
“Whats the occasion, Robin?” You questioned.
“Well,” she took a deep breath, “I was gonna try an ask Vicky to the homecoming dance today, like as a friend. I mean, obviously as more than a friend, but you know for obvious reasons I can’t do that. I know homecoming is a month way, but why not ask, right? So, I figured if I was gonna ask, I might as well look nice right?” Robin drew in another breath after rambling.
“Shit, I completely forgot about homecoming.” You sighed. “But, good luck today with Vicky. It’s gonna go well.” You nodded with reassurance.
“Soo, you and Eddie, whats the deal with that?” You could tell by the tone of Robins voice that she had a huge smile across her face.
“‘The deal’ is that we kissed a couple times and went on a date. I stil dont know if were anything official, I mean that would be great if we were, but I dont know if he would want that.” You said, blush creeping across your face.
“Hold on, back up. YOU KISSED!?” Robin yelled with surprise. “Okay, now you have to tell me about how that happened.”
You laughed a little, but obliged. You spent the rest of the ride to school telling her all about your Saturday night with Eddie. Occasionally she would interrupt you with questions or gasps, but overall you could tell she was happy for you and she could tell that you were happy. You pulled into a parking space by the library entrance at school and parted ways with Robin. She decided to head to the band room to practice for a bit before school started and you wanted to go check out a new book before heading to your locker. After walking through the library for a bit, you decided to check out “The Bell Jar” by Sylvia Plath because Nancy could not stop talking about it at the newspaper meeting last week. You put the book into your bag and made your way to your locker where you were met by Eddie.
“Hey there, Sweetheart.” Eddie said, leaning against the locker next to yours.
“Hi Eddie.” You smiled before going to give him a quick kiss on the cheek. When you pulled away you noticed he had something in his hand. “Whats that?” You asked pointing to it.
“Oh nothing.” He presented it to you. “Just a mixtape I made for my favorite girl.” You couldnt help but blush at the way he called you his favorite girl. It made you feel all special and warm inside.
Eddie spent all of Sunday working on this mixtape for you. It only had 5 songs on it, but all of them reminded him of you. The songs were: Rock You Like A Hurricane, Edge of Seventeen, Cant Fight This Feeling, Talk Dirty To Me, and I Was Made For Lovin’ You. Obviously 3 of the songs you had sang and the other 2 described his feelings. He was so excited to give it to you so that you could listen to it and see how much he cared.
“Oh, so I’m your favorite girl?” You beamed at him with bright eyes and blush coming across your cheeks.
“Shut up, (Y/N).” He looked away with a smile, blush spread across his face to match yours.
“Make me.” You said, mocking him from the other night with a smile.
Eddie put the mixtape in your locker before grabbing your waist to pull you in for a kiss. You kissed him back wrapping your arms around his neck. The two of you looked like those couples in the movies who kiss in the rain, but instead of the rain, you were kissing in your empty highschool hallway. You guys only pulled away when your heard Dustin and his friends’ voices.
“Gross, dude. That’s my sister.” You heard Dustin say.
“Seriously, Eddie. In the hallway?” This time it was Lucas’s voice.
You and Eddie both turned to face the boys, one of his arms left wrapped around your waist.
“Come on boys, Im allowed to kiss my girl in public, even if it grosses you out.” He leaned to kiss the top of your head. The mix of the kiss and his words causing you to grin. You couldn’t believe Eddie had just called you his girl. You guys may not have been official yet, but there was an already obvious understanding that you were his and he was yours.
“Wait, so when did this happen?” Mike questioned looking back and forth between you and Eddie.
You opened your mouth to answer, but were interrupted by Dustin. “Saturday. She told me about it yesterday.”
“So what, are you guys like officially a thing?” Lucas asked the question you’d been dying to know the answer to for the past 48 hours.
You and Eddie both looked at eachother before he opened his mouth to answer. “I say we are, as long as thats okay with (Y/N)?” He raised an eyebrow at you looking for the answer he was hoping for.
You smiled at him. “Thats perfect with me.”
You couldn’t believe it, Eddie was your boyfriend. Yea, the relationship was moving a bit fast, but you were so excited to be with him. Throughout the school day, you were in a daze thinking about that morning when you made it official. You and Eddie even sat together at lunch that day. Some people had stared at you, since you looked like such an unusual couple, and Dustin, well he didn’t mind but it was so weird for him to see his idol with his sister in his lap. Nonetheless, he was happy for both of you. The way Robin had questioned you after lunch at the beginning of English was also funny to you. She was suprised on how quickly you and Eddie were the talk of the school by the end of lunch and how she didn’t find out from you before hearing from some random dude in her math class. You didn’t care that people were talking about the two of you. If people wanted to say you were taken to the dark side, then so be it, you were happy. At the end of the school day, Eddie met you at your locker to walk you to your car and with you for Dustin to come out, even on the days he biked to school, you always gave him a ride home.
------
Steve was already waiting in the parking lot so he could pick up to Robin to take her to their shared shift at Family Video. In his boredom of sitting outside his old school, he noticed you and Eddie walking together, hands interlocked. He couldn’t help but feel jealous of Eddie and how badly he wanted to be him. He was brought out of his trance when Robin knocked on his window.
“Whatcha lookin’ at there, Stevie?” Robin said getting into the car.
“It’s nothing.” He said, sounding a bit out of it. Robin looked at Steve and followed his gaze to where you and Eddie were leaning against your car.
“Steve?” Robin said, now waving a hand in front of his face. “I know you like her man, but did you really expect for her to think you liked her with the amount of dates you go on?”
Steve snapped out of it. “I just wanted to give it time to see if maybe she had any reciprocated feelings towards me.” He sighed, hand running through his hair. “I guess I was just too slow. Now, Munsons got her.”
“If it makes you feel better, she never really mentioned him until they kissed a few days ago.” Robin offered up a smile.
“They kissed?!” Steve looked over at Robin with shock in his eyes. “I mean I know I saw them on a date, but shit they kissed.”
“I think you just need to drop it for now, Steve. Munson makes her really happy, but if you want to get her, you’ll have to confess soon. They just started dating, maybe you’ll be able to slip in their.” Robin was doing her best to give advice to Steve and make him feel optimistic, but she also didn’t want to see you stressed and anxious with your emotions.
“I don’t want to be that guy.” Steve said, sighing. “I know I could get any girl I wanted, even if that meant (Y/N), I couldn’t make her feel lost like that.” Steve really wanted to tell you, he even thought about telling you on Friday night, maybe inviting you over a bit before Robin so you could talk alone. Then again, he didn’t want to ruin your happiness.
Steve was stuck. He really wanted to be with you. He’s been pining over you since June when he saw you walk into the store across from Scoops Ahoy. Since a couple weeks after that when you would always come in to annoy Robin. Since after the whole deal with the Russians and the mall coverup and the way you took charge. Even though, he had more of a past with you, could that really change what you have with Eddie. Throughout his whole shift, Steve questioned telling you, he decided that he would tell you Friday night before the movie. Maybe it wouldn’t change anything, he was okay if it didn’t, as long as you were happy. If it did though, Steve would be the happiest man alive.
(a/n pt 2: Im sorry this part took forever to come out. I was feeling really depressed for a bit and I myself am stuck in a jumble of emotions like Steve rn, but pt 7 should be out by Wednesday if this week is nice to me :). I've also been working on some new fics that I cant wait for you guys to see!)

Eddie Munson x fem!Henderson!reader and Steve Harrington x fem!Henderson!reader
Summary: Dustin Henderson’s older sister finds herself in a predicament having to choose between Steve “the Hair” Harrington and Eddie “the Freak” Munson
a/n: Okay so basically I recommend listening to Rock You Like A Hurricane and Talk Dirty To Me on repeat because theyre bangers but also it really puts you into the story. Also this part is really long too, but i literally didnt want to break 1 day into like 3 parts, so yea. I’m still trying to decide whos gonna be endgame with this fic, but right now it looks like y/n is leaning towards Eddie, but well see…

------
“Okay, Eddie.” You said walking inside. “I’ve got two questions. What song are we rehearsing and why are there so many damn mugs on the wall?” You asked the last question with a laugh. You felt better than you did a few minutes ago.
“Okay, darlin’, to the first question there’s actually 2 songs. I want you to start the show with a solo and then we’re gonna do a duet later on.” He said while shrugging his jacket off and placing it on a hook by the door.  “ To the second question, I have no fucking clue.” He answered with a smirk.
You giggled a bit. “Okay Munson, what two songs?”
“For your opening solo m’lady, you’ll be singing ‘Rock You Like A Hurricane’ and for our duet…um… ‘Talk Dirty To Me’” Eddie was obviously very embarassed to say the name of the duet song to you. You could see it from the blush spreading across his cheeks and the way he wouldnt look at you and honestly you didnt know how to react either.
“What?” You said with a cough. It took you a second to register that he was talking about the song and not asking you to, well, talk dirty to him.
“THE SONG! The song.” He said, eyes wide. “I uh mean the song.” He said coughing in a similar way to you.
Your face was red now too, but you thought the way he was embarrassed over the title of the song was super cute. You gave him a smile an decided to move the conversation. “So, lets get started. Do you want to work on the solo or duet first?”
“Solo. Definitely the solo.” He straightened up a bit. “Ill go grab a mic and my guitar from my room and I’ll be right back.” He said motioning towards his room and then eventually heading down the narrow hall to go grab his stuff
In the short amount of time it took for Eddie to grab his equipment and set up, you really thought about his offer for a dinner date. You ended up coming to the decision that you wanted it to be a date. Obviously, you weren't expecting anything to sprout between the two of you, but you figured why not test the waters. Just then, Eddie clapped rubbing his hands together, bringing you out of your thoughts.
“Okay, princess. I want you to really perform with this one okay. It’s the first song and you need to captivate the audience. So, practice like you're performing.” He said with a smile holding out a hand to help you up from the couch.
“You got it, Eds.” You said taking his hand and returning the smile. “Let’s do this.”
------
Somehow Eddie got a cassette tape of the karaoke version of Rock You Like A Hurricane, but you didnt question it. He put the tape into the player and turned the volume all the way up. Even though the recording had the guitar, he still decided to play his guitar with it, but instead of standing next to you, he stood in front of you while it played.
As the music started you began to sway your hips to the beat of the drum and as the music builds you started to tap your foot and move your upper body with it. You were really enjoying yourself and Eddie was enjoying the show too. His guitar solo was starting to die out and you rolled your head back before starting to sing
It’s early morning,
The sun comes out
Last night was shaking
And pretty loud
My cat is purring
It scratches my skin
So what is wrong
With another sin?
Eddie loved the way your voice sounded whenever you sang, especially in a song like this. You had a slight rasp in your voice, but it was still very sultry. Every time you sang, he fell for you more, you were like a siren. He couldn't help but stare at you the whole time, he watched your eyes and the way that you made them so that they were half open. He watched your lips and the way they touched the microphone occasionally depending on the words you were singing and how sometimes you would lick your lips in a break between lyrics. He watched how you would roll your shoulders with the music and sway your hips and tap your foot to the beat. He thought you looked super sexy when you sang, which is why he chose the songs he wanted you to sing.
The bitch is hungry
She needs to tell
So give her inches
And feed her well
More days to come
New places to go
I’ve got to leave
It’s time for a show
You made sure that the whole time you were singing, you kept eye contact with Eddie. He was mesmerized by you and you loved to see it, you also loved to see the way his face would get red while singing certain lyrics. There was a bit of a smirk playing on your lips the whole time you were singing too. You were trying your best to look sexy and you were hoping it was working. As the music builds up to the chorus, you took the microphone off of the stand and moved so that you were mere inches away from Eddie’s face and the whole time, you never took your eyes off of eachother.
Here I am, rock you like a hurricane
Here I am, rock you like a hurricane
Eddie leaned in so that your foreheads were almost touching, still never breaking contact. You had to admit, this was really hot and for a second you almost forgot that you were practicing. You thought about stopping and kissing him, but then, as the music started to fade to leave room for the second verse you took a hand off the microphone and put a bit of room between you and Eddie.
My body is burning
It starts to shout
Desire is coming
It breaks out loud
Lust is in cages
Till storm breaks loose
Just have to make it
With someone I choose
At the end of this verse, you looked Eddie up and down as if to say “I choose you.” You really did want to choose him at the moment, you couldnt tell what had taken over you in the past 24 hours making you begin to fall for Eddie Munson, but you couldnt say you didnt love it.
The night is calling
I have to go
The wolf is hungry
He runs the show
He's licking his lips
He's ready to win
On the hunt tonight
For love at first sting
As the music starts to build into the chorus again you grabbed Eddie’s necklaces and closed the gap you put between, your foreheads almost touching once again.
Here I am
Rock you like a hurricane (Are you ready, baby?)
Here I am
Rock you like a hurricane
Here I am
Rock you like a hurricane (Come on, come on, baby)
Here I am
Rock you like a hurricane
You were caught off guard when Eddie started to sing parts of the music (a/n: he’s singing the stuff thats in parentheses at y/n). You couldn't deny the fact that him doing this really turned you on. If an outsider looked in on you guys right now, they would think you two were about to fuck right then and there, but neither of you could tell if that was what you wanted. You finished up the last half of the song in that exact position. Your foreheads were millimeters away from touching and you were clinging to his necklace. It was only at the end of the song that you let go of his necklace and he pulled away.
“I’m not sure if I’m allowed to say this, (Y/N), but that was really, really hot.” Eddie said with a deep breath.
Your face turned almost as red as a tomato. ‘Did he just call me hot?’ you thought to yourself. You blinked a couple times to bring yourself back into reality. “Thanks, but why wouldn’t you be allowed to say that?”
“Oh well, y’know youre Dustin’s sister and he basically tells all of Hellfire that you’re off limits. It’s super protective.” He said while wiping the sweat from his forehead and placing a hand on his hip.
“That little shit.” You chuckled a bit. You loved that Dustin cared, but damn, telling all his friends that you were off limits was a dick move. You understood, though. It would be weird if one of your friends was dating your sister.
“Yeah, it’s kinda funny actually.” Eddie let out a small breathy laugh. “But I think that we should start practicing the next song.” He changed the subject before turning around to switch to the next song on the tape before pausing it. “I think that you should sing the first verse, I’ll sing the second, and we’ll sing the chorus and 3rd verse together.”
“Works for me, Munson.”  You put the microphone back on the stand and motioned for him to hit play.
As Eddie started to strum the intro to the song, you closed your head and nodded along to the music, eventually moving your head to the beat of the drums. You wrapped your hands around the microphone and started to sing.
You know I never
I never seen you look so good
You never act the way you should
But I like it
And I know you like it too
The way that I want you
I gotta have you
Oh yes, I do
You sang the whole first verse with a smile on your face, never taking your eyes off Eddie. As you finished your verse, he made his way up to the microphone and you turned it towards him. You kinda held it out to him while he sang, the whole time both of you were keeping eye contact with each other.
You know I never
I never ever stay out late
You know that I can hardly wait
Just to see you
And I know you cannot wait
Wait to see me too
I gotta touch you
There was no denying it, Eddie looked super hot when he was singing. Especially, when he was signing to you. Wait, was he singing to you? You honestly couldn’t tell, but the look in his eyes really made it seem like he was singing all of those lyrics at you. The lyrics were starting to seem truthful too, just today, you couldn’t wait to see him after work. You needed to snap out of your thoughts, the chorus was coming up. You jumped back in and started singing with Eddie.
Cause baby, we'll be
At the drive-in
In the old man's Ford
Behind the bushes
Till I'm screaming for more
Down the basement
Lock the cellar door
And baby
Talk dirty to me
The whole time, Eddie was mesmerized by you just as he was when you were singing your solo before. He loved the way that you smiled and shimmied your shoulders to the music. He loved the way that you would scrunch your nose while singing certain lyrics. Eddie was living his dream, singing with you while he shreds on the guitar. He was hoping he could live this forever.
You know I call you
I call you on the telephone
I'm only hoping that you're home
So I can hear you
When you say those words to me
And whisper so softly
I gotta hear you
You mimed speaking on the telephone with your free hand causing a smile to spread across Eddie face. This was probably the most fun you’ve had in a while and you were honestly surprised, yet pleased, that you were having this much fun with Eddie Munson. You coudlnt keep the smile off your face and Eddie matched your smile with his own. You repeated the chorus together again before Eddie started his guitar solo.
Eddie, pick up that guitar and talk to me
You changed the ad lib a little bit, but it fit and you loved the way Eddie smiled when you sang it. Eddie loved that you added that and how were now dancing around his living room while he did his solo. This was pure bliss for both of you. You were letting loose and truly enjoying yourself. You had no care in the world and it felt great. You made your way back to Eddie so that you guys could finish up the song together as his guitar solo started coming to an end.
Cause baby we'll be
At the drive-in
In the old man's Ford
Behind the bushes
Till I'm screaming for more more more
Down the basement
Lock the cellar door
And baby
Talk dirty to me
And baby
Talk dirty to me
And baby
Talk dirty to me
While you guys were singing you both moved very close to the point where your foreheads were touching and your hand was on Eddie's shoulder. As Eddie finished the first guitar riff at the end of the song, you leaned in and gave him a quick kiss on the lips. It surprised both of you, neither of you expecting the kiss, but to you, it just felt right. You could see the shock on Eddies face as you leaned back with a smile.
“I think you should perform it just like that, Henderson.” He said, his face lit up with a smile.
You couldnt get your smile to go away. You hated to admit it to yourself, but you were really starting to like Eddie and you could already tell he really liked you. “Oh, shut up, Munson.” You said with an eye roll and breathy laugh.
“Make me.” He leaned in towards you with a smirk.
You shook your head before grabbing his face and kissing him again. He let go of his guitar, leaving it to hang from the strap around his shoulder, so that he could put his hands around your waist and bring you in closer. Obviously, the guitar was in the way a bit, but neither of you cared. You could feel Eddie smiling into the kiss and you couldn't help but do the same. It was a simple kiss, but it didnt feel simple to either of you. For you, this was the release of the built-up emotions from the last few hours, but for Eddie this was what he's wanted for the past 6 months. After a minute or two, you both pulled away, your hands around Eddie’s neck and his around your waist.
“So… does this make dinner a date or…?” Eddie asked with a smirk.
A cheeky smile spread across your face. “That depends, Munson. Do you want it to be?” You repeated the words he had said to you earlier in the day.
“I’ll take that as a yes. Where are we goin’?” He had let go of you so that he could set his guitar down. You began to head towards the couch and plopped down.
You tapped your chin pensively. “How about Ben’s Diner? It's about 10 minutes from here.” Really, you didnt care where you went, but chicken tenders from Ben’s Diner sounded absolutely delicious right now.
“Sounds great to me. Im gonna get my jacket on and then we can head out.” He moved away from his guitar and now towards the coat rack. You followed behind him before heading out to the car.
------
Before long, you guys were pulling into the parking lot of Ben’s Diner. Eddie got out of the car first and raised around to open your door before you hopped out. As soon as you got out, Eddie slung his arm around your shoulder. You walked in side by side, a smile unable to leave both of your faces as you made your way to a booth, but before you could sit down a voice called out to you.
“(Y/N)?”
You turned around to see who it was.
“Oh! Hey Steve!” You said with a little wave. “Didn’t know you were gonna be here.”
“Yea.” His eyes shot between you and Eddie. “We decided this was gonna be our pre-movie dinner.” He said motioning to the girl across from him in the booth.
“Oh. You must be Beth?” You question leaving from under Eddie’s arm and going to say hi to the girl. “Steve has been talking about his date with you for like the past 48 hours. It’s nice to meet you.” You held a hand out to the girl hoping she’d take it to shake. ‘She’s really pretty, how did Steve score that?’ you thought to yourself. The girl, Beth, had light brown hair and some wire-framed round glasses. She seemed pretty chill, but definitely nothing near Steve’s type. Beth took your hand to shake it.
“It’s nice to meet you too!” Beth said back. “I hear you're one of Steve’s best friends?” She had a smile on her face, but you could tell she was hoping that you and Steve weren’t super close, making sure nothing was going on between you two.
You shook your head with a little laugh. “Oh no, that’s my little brother, Dustin. Those two are thick as thieves.” You smiled back at her with reassurance. “Well anyways, I’ll let you two get back to it. Me and Eddie are gonna go ahead and sit down.” You smiled before turning back to Eddie.
Eddie was quick to wrap his arm back around your shoulder. The two of you made your way to a seat quickly and started looking at the menu. You were already dead set on what you wanted : chicken tenders and a chocolate shake. You always got that when you would come here with Dustin and he would get the same. You could see on Eddie’s face that he was struggling to decide what to get.
“Do you think they’d let me order pancakes at 5 o’clock at night?” He looked up at you like a child.
“I would think so, but there's no harm in asking.” You shot him a little smile before readjusting to sit with your legs crossed in the seat.
“You look like a child right now, Sweetheart.” He said laughing at the way you were sitting.
“Ohhh okay, Mr. pancakes for dinner.” A sly grin making its way across your face.
“And may I ask what you’re ordering?” He leaned forward so his chin could rest in his hands.
You blushed a little before responding in a whisper. “...chicken tenders…”
“And you call me the child, little miss chicken tenders.” He mocked your voice a little while saying chicken tenders making you laugh a little.
Steve couldn't help but notice the way you and Eddie were chuckling from across the restaurant. You looked super happy, but he just wished it was him making you laugh and feel happy rather than Eddie. He couldn't be mad though, he felt he had no right to be. He had never confessed his feelings to you, even though Robin always pesters him about it. Steve didn't even try to make it seem like he was interested, he was out just about every other night with a different girl. To you and to everyone but Robin, it seemed like he was just playing the field. In reality, he was just distracting himself from you in hopes his crush would die out, but with every date with a girl that wasn't you, his infatuation just grew stronger. He snapped out of his trance when he realized it was time for him and Beth to leave or else they would be late for the movie.
When it came time for you and Eddie to order, you both said what you wanted, both giggling at what each other was ordering. Your food was out soon and both you and Eddie scarfed down your meals. You offered to pay, but Eddie wouldn’t let you. He was such a gentlemen, you couldnt ask for better. The way he would open doors for you and just tonight when he paid for your meal sent your heart aflutter. After paying, you both walked out to Eddie’s car so that he could take you home. The drive wasn’t super long, as Ben’s Diner was about a 5 minute drive from your house. It wasnt long until he was pulled onto the curb in front of your house.
“Can I walk you to your door, (Y/N)?” Eddie said with puppy dog eyes, waiting to move to open your door for you.
“Um…” You moved your head to look at the driveway seeing your mom still wasn't home yet. “Sure.” You said with a smile.
Eddie quickly got out of the car and opened up the door for you. This tie, once you got out, he opted for holding your hand to lead you to the door rather than an arm around your shoulder. You both hiked up the hill to your house and stopped at the porch. The two of you turned to face each other, him taking both of your hands in his.
“Eddie, tonight was genuinely the most fun I’ve had in a while.” You smiled, meeting his eyes. “My mom is pretty strict with me and so I can just barely get by sneaking out to parties maybe once a month…but this,” You looked at his hands then back up at him, “this was better than a party.”
“Oh, so what i’m hearing is that spending time with me is better than a party?” Eddie said quirking his eyebrows.
“Oh shut up, Eddie.” You said before pulling him in for a quick chaste kiss.
“I had a great time with you too, Henderson.” Eddie said quickly after pulling away from the kiss. “Now you better get inside before that brother of yours catches us.” He said with a chuckle before letting go of your hands to walk back to his car.
You turned over your shoulder to unlock your front door, but before you entered, you turned back around. “Goodnight, Eds.” You yelled to him as he walked down to the street.
“Night, Sweetheart.” He said back. You smiled at the pet name he gave you.
You turned back and closed the door, surprisingly, you were the only one home. Mom must’ve still been out running errands and Dustin must’ve been at the Wheelers. You decided to take this time you had to just shower and get into your pajamas. It was nowhere near late, you just wanted to be out of your jeans. So, you took a shower and changed and made your way back downstairs with a book. You had finally given in to all of Dustin’s peer pressuring and decided to read the Lord of the Rings series. You found it quite boring and felt you could hardly stay awake while reading it. That really seemed to prove itself true when you woke up the next morning sprawled across the couch with the book resting on your face.

Also right now, theres a bit more of a focus on the Eddie storyline, but I promise that Steve is gonna get his time to shine soon. Also message me if you want to be a part of the tag list :)
Warnings: swearing, mentions of death of a parent, angst (?), kinda fluff i guess idk

------
The sound of your alarm clock going off brought you awake. The annoying beeps were starting to get on your nerves.“Okay okay. I get it.” Your hand slamming the top of the clock in an attempt to get it to shut up. You groaned moving to get out of bed and looking at the clock. ‘Shit shit shit’ you thoguht to yourself. It was 9:15 and Steve would be picking you up to drive both of you to work in 5 minutes. You scrambled around your room looking for your bright red, polyester “Ross’s Records” shirt and some jeans to wear with it. Tucking your shirt into your jeans, you caught a glimpse of yourself in the mirror.
“God, my hair is a mess.” You whispered moving a hand to your hair. You quickly brushed out your hair and grabbed a scrunchie to tie it up with once you got to work. The last thing you had to do was put on your shoes and find a spare shirt to wear for your rehearsal with Eddie today. As you were putting your boots on and lacing them up you heard the sound of Steves car pulling into the driveway. You quickly grabbed a red and black sweater that reminded you vaguely of Freddi Kreuger and ran out the door.
Just as you got out the door, Steve started honking the horn. “C’mon (Y/N)! Hurry up or were both gonna be late!” He honked the horn again.
“Okay okay! I’m sorry, I was up later than I intended last night.” Flinging the door open, you plopped down into the seat. “Now, if you dont drive, were really gonna be late.”
Steve put the car into reverse and started backing out of the driveway. “Now, what time do you get out today? I should be able to give you a ride home from work.”
“I wont need a ride home today, Steve. Eddies gonna pick me up from work.” You said pulling down the visor to fix your hair in the mirror.
Steve choked a little. “Eddie? As in Eddie Munson, is picking you up? Since when were you guys that close?” He said looking over to raise an eyebrow at you.
“Oh dont be jealous, Steve.” You looked over at him with a smile. “He wants to rehearse a duet with me today before our first full band practice. It’s nothing, you can still pick me up for lunch with you and Robin today.”
“I’m not jealous, (Y/N). I just find it odd that he’s picking you up from work for a rehearsal when you guys could meet earlier on Tuesday instead.”
“Sounds like jealousy, Steve.” You said as he pulled up outside of your job. “Meet me here at 12:00 for lunch with you and Robin?”
“Yea sure that works. Bye (Y/N).” He gave you a small smile and wave as you got out of his car.
“Bye, Steve. Thanks for the ride.” At that, you got out of his car and rushed into work.
Your boss didnt care that you got there right at the time your shift was supposed to start because nobody was in yet. Really all you had to do was restock shelves and work the register for today. Making your way to the back you noticed that there were boxes of cassette tapes and players. ‘Those are new’ you thought to yourself. Typically the store only sold records and record players, but you thought you remembered Ross talking about getting tapes in. You picked up the boxes and walked over to the register area so you could place the tapes in the new, empty bin that was upfront.
Ding ding
You heard the bell on the door go off as it opened causing you to turn around and see an unexpected face.
“Eddie?” You smirked a little. “I dont get off for another 4 hours. What are you doing here?”
“Well, uh, two reasons, doll-face.” You could tell he was a little nervous by the way he was messing around with the rings on his fingers. “One, I heard you guys got cassette tapes in and I wanted to browse the selection.” He came over and started to help you unpack the boxes of tapes while taking a mental note of which ones he was going to buy. “Two, do you want to get dinner together tonight? Like, after rehearsal?”
Eddie never was nervous. He was always pretty confident with himself because he never really cared what people thought, but when it came to you, he really wanted things to be perfect. Just like you. To him, you were the most perfect girl he’s met. You liked the same music he liked and always dressed kind of edgy and, like him, you never really gave a shit about the social hierarchy of Hawkins High. It amazed him how there was someone so similar to him and that you existed in the same place at the same time. He was smitten and boy was it obvious to seemingly everyone. Everyone, but you.
“You asking me on a date, Munson?” This brought you back to the exact thoughts you were having last night. You wouldnt mind it being a date, but you never had feelings like that for him. You werent the type of girl to just throw yourself at any guy who asked you out either, but for some reason, you didnt care if you threw yourself at Eddie. The idea didnt sound bad.
“That depends, Henderson. Do you want it to be?” He was now leaning on the counter with a smirk.
“We’ll see how I feel at the end of my shift.” You looked over at him with a smile pulling at your lips. “Now, are you going to buy those tapes or not?” You said motioning to the stack of tapes he set aside to buy. There was a Stevie Nicks tape on top and you couldnt help thinking he got it because of the song you sang at your audition. You finished ringing up his items, placed them in the bag, and he was on his way.
-------
Your shift was normal with the usual rush happening around 11:00 and being over just in time for lunch. Lunch with Steve and Robin was also normal, nothing too exciting. Well, besides you asking Robin to cover for you to your mom so you could go to your rehearsal tonight. The story was that you would be over at Robin’s house studying for an indefinite amount of time and would be home later than usual. Steve was still a little grumpy about the whole ‘Eddie giving you a ride’ thing, but you couldnt care less. Before you knew it your shift was over and you were changing your shirt in the record store bathroom. You spent most of the day thinking over whether or not you wanted to consider dinner with Eddie tonight to be a date. By the time your shift was over and Eddie was pulling into the parking lot, you still hadn’t made up your mind. It was necessarily a tough decision. You were stuck, you saw no harm in going on a date with Eddie without having to make it a thing, but you also didnt want him to feel like you were leading him on. You brought back to reality from your thoughts as you heard a knock on the door.
“(Y/N), your rides here.”
“Thanks, Ross.” You said before splashing some water on your face and walking out to see Eddie leaning on the glass by the front door smoking a cigarrette. You made your way out of the store to greet Eddie, but he beat you to it.
“Hey there, sweetheart. You ready to go?” He tossed his cigarette on the ground and stomped it out.
“Yep.” You nodded, walking past him to his car. You didnt mean to sound cold, but your brain was lost in thought.
The second you put your hand on the door handle, he rushed over, putting a hand over yours to stop you. You looked back at him slightly puzzled as to why he wouldnt let you open the door. “Got a dead body in there? Why cant I open the door?”
He pulled his hand away, a tinge of red forming on his cheeks relizing how close you two were right now.. “No, uh, no dead body. I just..um.. Here.” He scrunched his face up a bit and opened the door for you. “M’’lady.”
Eddie’s actions caused you to chuckle little. “Wow, I guess chivalry isn’t dead after all.” You remarked hopping into the passenger seat of his van. Your eyes already looking through the cassette tapes he had on the floor between the driver and passenger seat. You knew it would be about a twenty minute drive from your job to his place (you’d pass his house whenever you had to pick up or drop off Max), so you wanted to pick out the music for the drive. While looking through his collection of tapes you were surprised to see that the Stevie Nicks cassette tape he bought at the store earlier wasnt in there.
“Whatcha lookin’ for, ( Y/N)?” He said with a raised eyebrow while hopping into the car.
“Music.” You mumbled not looking up at him. You were now set on trying to find that cassette tape.
“Okay… what kind of music?” He was now turned toward you.
“Got any…uh… Journey, maybe Stevie Nicks?” You now met his eyes, chewing on your lip in concentration.
‘God, she is so beautiful’ Eddie thought to himself. Just looking at you in your oversized sweater, hair a little messy from work mesmerized him. The way you were chewing your lip in concentration just about made him melt. The amount of times that he dreamt of kissing those same lips are impossible to count. “Um.. I should have some Journey somewhere in here.” He said reaching past you to the bag in the back seat. He pulled the bag to his lap and grabbed the cassette tape for Journey’s “Evolution” album out and placing it into his car. “Here we go.” He said rubbing his hands together.
“Nice.” You shot him a smile. “Let’s get going.”
As Eddie started to pull out of the parking lot, the intro to “Lovin’, Touchin’, Squeezin’” began to play through the speakers
You make me weep and wanna die
Just when you said we’d try
Lovin’ touchin’ squeezin’ each other
You couldnt help but start humming along to the song. It reminded you of your father, it was his favorite before he passed away. You have such fond memories of watching your parents dance along to it in the living room while you were trying to do your homework. At first it annoyed you, but you soon came to realize that you wanted that with someone someday. In all of your relationships, nobody has ever made you feel as happy as your mom did when dancing with your father. You’ve never felt anything that was as special as what they had. You felt your face getting wet and you were brought out of your thinking. Tears were streaming down your cheeks, reflecting on memories of your father always made you cry. You sniffled quietly and wiped the tears off your face hoping Eddie wouldn't notice.
“Hey hey hey, (Y/N), what's going on?” Eddie said sounding very concerned. He wanted to comfort you, but he needed to keep his attention on the road. The best he could do for the time was place a hand over yours. He was doing his best to convey that he was here for you.
“It’s nothing really.” You sniffled a bit. “This was just my dad's favorite song. He and my mom would always dance to it in the living room… before he… you know.” You gulped, flipping your hand over to hold his. It felt a little awkward holding his hand considering you two weren't really anything, but it was comforting and you needed that.
“Ahh okay, here.” He said, lifting his hand from yours to turn down the radio and then replacing his hand back in yours. “We don't have to listen to it and if you wanna talk I’m right here.”
This was a soft side of Eddie that you’d never seen. You always perceived him as kind of annoying by the way he would act around school, but he was sweet under the surface. He was like a sour patch kid.
“Thanks Eddie.” You looked over at him with a soft smile. “I dont know, hearing this song always gets me emotional. I mean I miss my dad so, so, much, but I also miss the way my mom was so happy with him. She’s been different since then. She had no expectations of me and Dusty, I mean we were 11 and 8, but still. There’s so much pressure on us, well mainly me, now.” You couldnt help but start to cry again. “There’s just so much in my life that he’s missed out on and theres gonna be so much more. I never understood why there wasn’t anything the doctors could do and-” You cut yourself off by your breath catching in your throat.
“Hey, we dont have to talk about it if you dont want to.” he said rubbing his thumb along the back of your hand. “I’ve been where you were, well are, before and I know it can be hard. It’s also okay if you want to keep talking to. I’ll be here either way.” You could see the smile he had on his face, it was comforting.
“Yea,” You took a deep breath which helped to stop the tears. “I just miss what they had and what he was to everyone. I wish I could be like him, but I’m definitely not headed down that path.” You reflected on everything your father was. A smart man that graduated from Brown and came back to his hometown to marry his highschool sweetheart.  He never drank or smoked and spent every Friday night with his family watching movies. You were nowhere near on this path. You were a straight C student with no future plans, and that highschool sweetheart was not coming along great at all. Every Friday night, you were always at a friends house, you hardly spent any time at home. You also drank and smoked a lot, especially on nights like these.
“What do you mean?” You could hear the confusion in his voice. “I think you’re doing great.” That was just what you needed to hear right now.
“I’m the complete opposite of him. He was smart and responsible. A family man for sure. Hell, he married his high school sweetheart. His life was like a god damn movie. Me, on the other hand, I’m not smart or responsible. I never spend time with my family anymore and I am pretty much out of luck on the whole high school sweetheart scenario.” You took another deep breath starting to feel yourself on the verge of tears.
“You know you dont have to be your father right?”
“I know, I just wish my life could’ve been a movie the way that his was.” You took a deep sigh feeling the car stop. You were parked in front of Eddie’s trailer now, you hadn’t even realized that it had been twenty minutes.
“It still can be.” Eddie took the keys out of the ignition and turned to you. You never noticed how pretty he was until now, maybe it was just because you spilled out all of your emotions to him over the past 20 minutes or maybe it was you really noticing him. “It just doesn't have to be the same movie.” He continued offering a smile, still not letting go of your hand. He didnt want to let go of it, and neither did you.
You surprised yourself when you leaned in to hug him, but it was something you really needed. You liked the way that you felt comforted in his embrace and the way that he just rubbed your back. You didnt want to, but you pulled away from the hug. You didnt want it to linger for too long, but both of you missed eachothers warmth the second the hug ended.
“Thanks, Eds.” You leaned back, wiping your tears with the sleeve of your sweater. “Now, lets get to practice.” You offered up a smile and turned to get out of the car.

a/n: Hi! It took me a bit to write this part because of how busy I've been getting ready for school, so I'm not 100% on how I feel about this part, so yea.

-----------
As you hopped into your car, you noticed that it was a little past 8:00 meaning Steve and Robin should still be having movie night for another hour. Tonight, it was at Steve’s house, so you put your keys into the ignition and made your way over there. The drive wasn’t too long, it had been about 10 minutes and you were already pulling in to Steve’s driveway and luckily enough, Robin’s bike was still sitting outside. You turned the car off and headed up to the door to be let it in. You rang the doorbell a few times before it opened.
“(Y/N)! You’re here! Steve! She’s here!” Robin said ecstatically wrapping you in a hug. “And you’re just in time,” She said releasing you. “ Steve was starting to get all mopey about his love life.”
“Well if she’s here, Robin, why don’t you let her in?” Steve chimed in from the living room.
“Sorry sorry sorry.” Robin said shaking her head a little and opening the door. “Come on in!”
The living room wasnt too far from the front door, so you could hear Ghostbusters blaring right as you walked in. Steve was chilling in the arm chair almost mesmerized by the movie when you walked in.
“(Y/N), so glad you could make it.” He sounded irritated and you could understand why. You did bail on him and Robin for movie night, but you still showed up. Yes, about an hour into the movie, but you were still there.
“C’mon, Steve,” you whined “You cant be mad at me forever.” Knowing him, he could probably hold a grudge for a whie, but you, Robin, and the kids were his exceptions.
“Yea, but I can try.” He grunted out, he was pissed, but you couldnt really figure out why.
“Well,” Robin clapped her hands, interrupting. “I’m gonna pause the movie so we can listen to (Y/N) about her auditions because that would be so much more interesting to me than hearing you drone on about your hopeless love life, Steve.” She shot daggers at him with her eyes.
Another thing Robin knew about Steve that you didnt, he only dated around so much because he was trying to get over you. Yes, you never dated, but Steve couldnt stand the fact that he couldnt get over his crush on you, so he hoped that if he dated enough people it would eventually fade. It never did. Robin would always try to convince him to ask you out on a date, but he was always to scared to even approach the topic of dating with you. He didnt feel good enough for you, you had a set goal and he couldnt even get into a college. So he just tried to ignore his feelings, but he really couldnt.
“First of all, I doubt Harrington’s love life is that hopeless. He’s got a new girl every week!” You chuckled to yourself a little, knowing this would get on his nerves.
‘Yea, but not the right one.’ Steve thought to himself glancing over at you. He could never get over that smile.
“Second, the audition went amazing! I’m the new lead singer and you’ll never guess who I saw.” You acted like you saw Tom Cruize or something just so you could grasp the attention of your friends. Robin looked like she was on the edge of her seat and Steve. Steve just kind of looked at you with interest, but he didnt necessarily seem excited.
“Tom Cruize? Did you see Tom Cruize!” Robin yelled. What was her obsession with Tom Cruize?
“No, Eddie fucking Munson. He’s like the lead guitarist and the other lead singer. I was quite surprised.”
“What? No way. No way youre gonna be in a band with Eddie “the freak” Munson.” Steve said sitting up straighter. He didnt necessarily like the idea of you spending more time with another guy that wasnt your brother, but he knew he had no control over that. Still, it made him feel a little insecure. “He’s a bad influence, (Y/N). Also he’s just kind of.. I dont know… weird?” He scrunched his face up a bit.
“Steve” You looked at him annoyed “It’s not like I’m becoming a drug dealer or joinign a cult. I’m literally just singing in a band. If you’re worried about losing your precious (Y/N) time, my practices and performances dont interfere with movie night.” You leaned back crossing your arms.
“It’s not that, its just -  its just-” Steve stuttered before being interrupted.
“What Stevey here is trying to say is he’s proud of you and we’ll be at every performance just to cheer you on.” Robin said smiling trying to cover for him.
“Yes! Yes that is exactly what I’m saying.” He ran a hair through his hair. “Now can we please get back to the movie?”
“You guys can, but I promised Dustin I’d pick him up from the Wheeler’s tonight by 9:00 and its already 8:45. I would love to stay, truly!” You were rambling. You felt bad for only staying for 30 minutes, but you really needed to get home and you knew mom would kill you for not getting your brother home at a decent time. “Like I said, lunch tomorrow and double-feature next friday!” You still kept going as you walked out of the house.
-------
You pulled up outside the Wheeler household a little bit past 9:00. Dustin was already waiting outside looking a little pissed off. He grabbed his bag and walked begrudgingly to your car.
“Hey, Dusty. Sorry, I’m late.” You offered up a smile. You weren't that late, it was maybe 9:05.
“Yea, yea. How did it go?” Dustin said hopping into the car.
“It was good, I’m the new lead singer of your favorite person’s band.” You teased him a little knowing how much he idolized Eddie.
“Wait!” He said turning to you excitedly “You’re the lead singer in Eddie’s band! Oh my god! That's fucking awesome!”
“Language, Dusty.” You smiled to yourself while scolding him “And yes, I’m the lead singer in Eddie’s band, but you can’t tell mom. She’d kill me if she knew I was in a band.”
“You’re secret is safe with me (Y/N).” He made a motion like he was zipping his lips. “I still dont understand why you feel the need to sneak around mom though. You’re an adult now.”
“I may be an adult, but I have a shit gpa and no academic plans for after I graduate, so to say the least if she found out, she would be pretty pissed.” You said putting an extra emphasis on the syllables in the word “pretty” to really show how mad your mother would be.
Your mom was always super supportive, as long as you had good grades and had a plan. You had neither of those, while your brother had both. Therefore, if Dustin wanted to hangout at the Wheeler’s house until 9:00 pm on a school night or stay out late with Hellfire Club he could. You did not have this same luxury which is why you would sneak around, coming up with excuses just so that you could live the life that you wanted.
“(Y/N), just talk to her about it. She most likely won't care.” Dustin said. You could hear the sadness in his voice.
“Dustin, I can assure you that she would care. I will literally be performing in dive bars weekly and staying out late on school nights. I just…I just need you to cover for me until I can at least get my way up to a B average and convince her I have an actual plan. Okay?” You didn't look at him, but you were pleading. This was so important to you and you weren't willing to give it up.
It was silent in the car for a bit before Dustin responded. “Okay okay fine, but you owe me. Also, I want to come to performances.”
“NO! No no no. My performances are at bars, Dustin! Bars! I understand you’ve fought to save the world like three times, but this is a no.” You scolded him as you pulled into the driveway in front of your house. “I’m already taking a risk sneaking around behind mom's back, but sneaking you around with me? That’s an even bigger risk.” You turned the car off and pulled the key out of the ignition.
“Fine, if youre not gonna let me come to the shows, then I’m just gonna tell mom.” He said reaching for the door handle.
“NO!” You reached over him, grabbing his arm. “Fine, you can come to my performances, but I cant be your ride. Ill have to be there early and youre not sitting at a bar for 4 hours.” You sighed with your head in your palms.
“Then how am I supposed to get there?”
“Ask Steve, he would gladly take you.” You said opening your door. “Now, this conversation is over until the morning when I am not absolutely worn out from working and auditions and arguing with my little brother.” You shot him a frustrated glance.
“Fine, Ill drop it, but were picking this up tomorrow.” Dustin said following you up to the house.
------
You’d barely even opened the door and your mom was already there waiting for both you and your brother.
“Kids, its 9:30, you said you would be home by 9:00.” Your mom said angrily. She was in the typical ‘mom stance’, hands on her hip and tapping her foot. “If you were gonna be late, you should’ve called.I was worried about you.” She shot disappointed yet worrried glances at both of you.
“Sorry, mom. It’s my fault, movie night with Steve and Robin ran a little late and Robin needed a ride home.” You came quick with a lie to try and make sure that your mom knew the blame was completely on you. “ I know I should’ve called, but I was in such a rush to pick up Dusty from the Wheelers,” you wrapped your arms around your brother “that I just didnt think to call. Im sorry.” You offered up a smile.
“Its not completely (Y/N)’s fault, mom. I also took a while to leave the Wheeler’s. You know how into our games we get.” He also offered up a smile. Both of you knew your mom couldn't be mad at both of you especially with those cute smiles on your faces.
“Aww, okay! I can't stay mad at you guys.” Your mom said, squeezing the two of you into a hug. “Now go get cleaned up and head to bed. I know you have an early shift tomorrow (Y/N).”
“Yea, I’m gonna shower, but probably eat something. Steve and Robin forgot to get food tonight, so I’m a bit hungry. After that, I’ll head to bed, okay?” You smiled at your mom.
“Okay, but Dusty, you should head to bed soon.” She patted your brother's back with a warming smile. “I, myself, am going to head to bed. I love you kids.” Your mother said, planting a kiss on your and your brother's cheeks.
“Goodnight, mom. Love you.” The two of you said in unison watching her walk to her room.
“I’m gonna turn in too.” Dustin said dropping his bag and coat by the front door. “Goodnight, (Y/N).”
“Night, Dusty.”
You had been home about 45 minutes. You already showered and put on your pajamas and now you were searching for something to watch on the t.v. while your food was heating up in the microwave. Your mom had made spaghetti tonight and she made sure to have a serving for you leftover just in case you were hungry. You appreciated this so much, especially on nights when you would get home late and nothing was open.
Beep beep beep
You were startled by the noise of the microwave. You got up from the couch and headed into the kitchen to grab your food, but first stopping to grab a fork. You took your food out of the microwave and lifted yourself onto the counter. You began to stuff your face with the leftover spaghetti. You loved your moms cooking, she always knew how to make everything taste amazing. The, the phone started ringing.
‘Who the hell woul be calling this late at night?’ You thought to yourself making your way over to the phone and taking it off the hook.
“Henderson residence. May I ask who’s calling at these hours of the night?” You asked the mystery caller a little annoyed. You didnt really care, but seriously, nobody calls your house this late, not even Robin.
“Hello to you too, Lady Henderson.” Said the voice on the other line.
“Eddie, its like 10:30. Why are you calling this house? Also how did you get this number?” You were getting a little interogative, but it was late and you were a little annoyed.
“Well, sweetheart, I know your younger brother, so that’s how I got this number and I’m calling to talk to you.” You could just about hear the smirk he had on his face.
“Okay, Eddie, make it quick. I have an early shift at the record store in the morning, we’ve got a shipment coming in.” Really you just wanted the phone call to end in case your mom decided to wake up and interrogate you on who was calling at this time of night. You knew if she found out who and for whatever reason why, she would be absolutely pissed.
“Okay, okay. I need you to meet me after your shift tomorrow.” You furrowed your brow at this and it was almost as if he could either read your mind or see your face because he was quick to follow up on his request. “I want to practice a duet I want to do with you a bit outside of practice because I know the boys would be rushing through it.”
“Okay Eddie, but one small problem, I wont have the car tomorrow. My mom’s car got put in the shop today and Saturdays are her shopping and running errands days. She’s gonna need the cr.” You turned around to lean your back on the wall next to the receiver.
“Ill pick you up from work. What time do you get off?” He was desperate to get alone time with you outside of band rehearsals and was trying his best to mask that by keeping his voice cool. It wasn’t a lie that he wanted to practice a song with you, but he also needed an excuse to just spend time with you and possibly even try to get a date with you.
“Im out at 2:00. I’ll want to change out of my work uniform though, so itll be closer to 2:15. Got it?” You sighed exhaustedly. Honestly, you didnt care that he wanted to practice, it’s just the fact that he called at this time of night and you were tired.
“Alright, Henderson. It’s a date.” You could hear him chuckle a little on the other end of the line.
“Not a date, Munson. Goodnight.” You said hanging up the phone, though, for some reason there was a small smile forming on your face.
After the phone call, you started cleaning up the dishes you used to reheat the dinner your mom made for you. While you were washing the plate you couldnt help but let your mind wander. You wondered why Eddie called your rehearsal a date. Is that what it was? A date? You didnt hate the idea of going on a date with him, but dates just werent really on the table for you right now. Still, if it was just one date, it never had to be anything more. Why were you even thinking about this? It was just Eddie, you’ve never felt anything towards him, so why are you thinking into this rehearsal so much.
‘God, pull yourself together (Y/N)’ You thought.
You rubbed your eyes with your palms and made your way to your room. You were exhausted to the point that you just about fell asleep as soon as you plopped down on your bed. You pulled your comforter up over you and started to slowly drift to sleep.
