i think this is probably rhetorical, but ill answer u just in case 😭 i wont lie i didn't even intend for this to be trans david, i just picked the lyric because its about david viewing campbell as a "good man" and basing his own worth as a person on his relationship with campbell. like, 'i might not be much by myself but at least i have campbells regard', ykwim? with his shirt being a testament to that regard. i left it as "daughter" bc like,,,, david is sort of a daughter,,,,,,,,,,,,, like characters dont really have genders to me so gendered terms dont matter, if that makes sense, but a trans interpretation is also good! im glad some people are getting joy from that. please read this however you like!!!!!

ive been thinking, wtf did david even do during his teen years?? like i imagine he kept going to camp for as long as he could, so until he was 18, but then why did he go to college?? he wanted to be a camp counselor even when he was 10, so why literally major in clownery in a college in FRANCE rather than become a junior camp counselor while working to get his credentials??? was it like parental pressure that he felt he needed to go to college?? does he have family in france??
