Alright so it’s been a while but I’m back with another fanfic!
Do you love chaos? Do you love crack treated seriously and absolutely batshit kids? Do you adore chaos? (Cannot emphasise enough there is a shit tonne of chaos in here)
Then this is the fic for you - it’s one of my all time favourites, despite the fact that I know nothing about yu-gi-oh. There are many people reading this fandom blind - please don’t yet the unfamiliar fandom put you off.
The Power Of Friendship (And This Gun I Found!) is by @gallusrostromegalus, has 10 chapters, 213,853 words so far, has a mature rating and is a WIP.
The summary is:
Honestly, Mokuba deserves to have a gun. And everyone else deserves to go absolutely Off The Fucking Rails.
YuGiOh, but they're all appropriately feral little gremlins. Kind of a Reconciliation of the 4Kids Dub and the Horror-Comedy Manga, but mostly me wildly overthinking the setting and deciding to lean into the weirdness.
Trigger warnings for gore, grievous bodily harm, implied/referenced sexual assault and… everything you would expect from the summary really.
This fic has polyamory, teenagers being feral gremlins, the best worldbuilding you’ve seen in a while -a seriously amazing full and wacky world-, is demented and is hilarious.
If chaos is your sense of of humour in a nutshell I unreservedly recommend this fix - it’s one of my reward myself and relax fics.
Kudos to the author for writing an amazing work, and all the worldbuilding they do on their blog (if you love the fic go check out the blog - they always write like that, it’s hilarious)!

Prince of Heroes
This is a bnha series written by TheNarator and available on ao3. It currently consists of 4 fics, with a total word count of 343,536, a rating of mature and is a WIP.
Trigger warnings for violation of bodily autonomy, force-feeding (and if that along with the all might bashing doesn't give you an intriguing hint to the contents of the fic nothing will), child abuse and complicated relationships between parent and child.
Here is the summary of the first fic:
Izuku has always wanted to be a quirkless hero. The online quirkless community, the only place he's ever felt accepted, have always supported him on that. They need him to be a hero for people like them, people who have bad quirks, villainous quirks, or no quirks at all. Being a hero for his people has always been the plan.
Then he gets the chance of a lifetime, to be a hero in the spotlight. Just not the way he wanted.
Now Izuku's future as the first quirkless hero is jeopardy, and with the fate of the world hanging in the balance, his dream is more important than ever. The adults in his life don't think he can do it, but that's never stopped him before. With a legacy on his shoulders and a destiny nipping at his heels, Izuku will have to fight to become the type of hero he wants to be.
Now that I've got the basics over and done with, I must confess that I love this fic - I binged it on a car journey last week (it was not a short car journey) and it is wonderful! It contains all my favorite tropes - all might bashing, class 1A being protective, moral greys and quirkless midoriya. But, despite that list of tropes making it sound one of many similar fics, it puts a completely unique spin on All Might and Izuku's relationship, among many others. Other highlights include Monoma (and a few other side characters who do not get enough love) being developed main characters, a refreshingly different approach to some of the main events, and a Midoriya and Shinsou who are aiming for social reform!
Do not read this fic if you are looking for dadzawa, hate any fic which shows any of the villains in a redeemable light or want to see redemption for Bakugou.
Do read the fic if this post appeals to you, you will not regret it! I have tried to avoid spoiling many of the twists and turns this fic takes, so you may be surprised in a good way by the directions this fic goes in :)

(We Can Burn) Brighter Than the Sun
This is a brilliant Merlin fic by @batshieroglyphics which is currently being uploaded onto ao3, and should be completely posted by the 22nd of June.
I will admit that the Merlin fandom is not one of my main (admittedly many) fandoms but this fic drew me in. It’s a good old time travel fix-it, with a BAMF Merlin who still feels human despite being immortal. Also baby Mordred, lots of original characters and the world building that comes with that, Merlin having adventures and being his wonderfully chaotic self and the Arthur/Merlin we all need in our lives. The original characters are developed, but if you do not like OCs in your fic this is not the fic for you as they are major characters.
Warnings for Merlin having PTSD, implied/referenced suicide and grief/mourning - honestly about what you’d expect of a time travel fic. It has 178,895 words currently, and 20 of the 26 chapters have been posted, but they have all been written.
I genuinely enjoyed this fic a lot - it diverges from canon enough that you don’t feel bored and the story and the characters just suck you in. I thoroughly recommend it for an enjoyable read!

I’ve been busy for a while but I’m back so here are some of my favourite fics I’ve read recently! (Or reread because rereading your favourite fics is always an option which I recommend) To avoid making this too annoyingly long a post I’ll put each fic on a separate post.
First off a fic which I spent all of my free time yesterday enjoying: ‘eternity will be born from hope’ by theseviolentdelights99. This is a yuri on ice WIP fic with 19 chapters and 170,000 words that is amazing. It’s basic premise is that 29 year old yuuri wakes up in 17 year old yuuri’s body and just decides fuck it. There is a healthy dose of crack taken seriously, some BAMF Yuuri and, delightfully enough, a lot of yuuri having a small army of children. However, there is a lot of social media style stuff in it so I would only recommend reading it if you like that style of fic, though there is plenty of text as well, and using a big screen so the text doesn’t get too squashed. That said, it is a brilliant fic which I just found incredibly relaxing to read for some reason, perfect for curling up to relax with. There is romance as well, as one would expect for a yuuri on ice fic. Warnings for standard involuntary time travel feels and a clearly warned and marked out panic attack. Also, if you ever wanted to learn about the world of ice skating, the authors notes of this fic do that too- it’s written by an actual ice skating fan!!

Summary: ‘You shot me!’ Jason gasped, stunned, ‘Holy shit, you actually shot me.’
Tim’s eyes widened and he froze. They stared at each other for a second, dumbstruck and then-
‘Don’t tell Bruce.’
Or: The family enjoy a normal movie night. Except Jason has a gunshot wound and Tim’s the only one who knows and oh- that’s because Tim’s the one who shot him and they really, really need to find a way to leave before anyone finds out.
This fic is fucking hilarious and the characterization + banter is on point. i have a bit of a soft spot for schemes <3
2. four brothers, one crush, and absolutely zero braincells to be found by @Ms_Trickster
Summary: Tim: i need to know what’s the best way to a boy’s heart
Damian: Easy. The best way to someone’s heart is through their ribcage. Everyone knows that.
Damian: Come on Timothy, I expected better from you.
Dick: I-
Dick: Try again
Tim is having boy troubles.
Tim goes to his brothers for help.
Tim...did not think that plan of action through.
(In which the batbros give Tim advice on relationships, told entirely through texts.)
Again, fucking hilarious. the chat titles are SUCH a nice touch and it really feels like authentic sibling silliness
3. Night at the (National) Museum by @collectivefandomstuff
Summary: Tim finds himself having, once again, been dragged into the social event of the season. As he slowly dies of boredom and the physical exertion of not rolling his eyes, he bumps into his fellow prisoners brothers and they decide to do something about Bruce’s tendency to trick them into going to these things. More specifically, they decide to cause as much trouble as possible in the hopes that Bruce will just straight up stop inviting them. [cue mission impossible theme]
“We could call in a bomb threat?”
“That’s imaginative.”
“Ok, then we get paintball guns and go to town.”

this fic is literally a must-read in the dc fandom it's not done yet but holy shit. basically goes through young justice and other arcs if the league had died while dick was robin. perfect if you liked young justice and convoluted plotlines, and this fucking fic kicked my emotional ass SO hard
6. And The World Came Crashing Down by @One_annoying_bird
Summary: When Dick and three of his siblings find themselves within the wreckage of a collapsed building, Dick makes the executive decision for himself to be rescued last.
Even if his injuries really demand for him to be first.
Not that he'll let anyone know that last bit.

this one's a really sweet, quiet piece about jason and cass's relationship (which i absolutely love) and cass's characterization is spot on perfect
9. You fuck with them, you fuck with me by @oclark1226
Summary: When Batman's out of the country for Justice League business, it falls on Dick to find his missing brothers. Once he does, however, he nearly loses control fighting their kidnapper. He has to deal with both the mental and physical consequences of that fight while helping his brothers heal. Includes some soft Bruce tending to both of his eldest boys because they need some hugs and they support him in return.
now this one is simply criminally underrated. hella protective dick, which is my lifeblood, and some of the most well-written hurt/comfort i've read
10. Conflict Resolution by @anicomicqueen
Summary: It started off as a quiet Sunday morning, until Timothy and Damian decided to take their argument outside.
who would i be if i didn't end off with some fluff?? this fic is literally catharsis and i cherish it so much plus its hilarious

The end of the world was just over the horizon.
No.
Clark peered through slitted lids into the hazy distance.
It was the horizon now, a black, tumultuous line that seemed like so much less than it was.
Just a line. A smear of charcoal bordering a canvas of red.
He hated red. When he closed his eyes, all he saw was red, the blood-gold glow of light, like metal heated to melting.
He tried to keep his breathing steady. It was hard to do, impossible, really, but still he tried. The control that had served him well his entire life—that kept him from crushing bones with a handshake, from violating privacy with a glance—had deserted him, likely never to return.
There’s that farmboy optimism again, a voice whispered in the back of his mind. It didn’t sound like his own, not entirely. You know it won’t.
“Almost there,” Bruce said. Clark startled. He hadn’t heard his friend approach, but Bruce was close enough that Clark could feel the huff of his breath on his skin. “Ready?”
There was no point in lying. Clark did anyways.
“Yes.”
A grunt of acknowledgement, and then an arm looped across his back.
“Almost there,” Bruce repeated. It was the one promise he could make.
Clark jerked out a nod, and then he was up, pulled onto his feet, into the staggering, half-dragging stumble that he and Bruce had managed so far.
It felt like years. It felt like miles, not a relatively simple cliffside path of dark red and gray.
“Anything?” he rasped, the question nearly lost beneath the crunch of gravel beneath their feet.
Bruce didn’t answer. He didn’t need to. Clark knew. But he had to ask. Bruce’s arm tightened, and Clark wished he could hear the corresponding whoosh of blood pressure and staccato heartbeat, anything to give him context.
He tried to focus on all the wrong things. On the briny air against his cheek, blown from the sea into the cliffside. On the gritty awfulness of the stone gravel grinding beneath their feet. On the solidness of Bruce’s arm across his back. On the stiffness of his fingers clutched to the material against his stomach.
The part of Clark’s brain that was always seeking, always wondering, mused that maybe this what Pa’s arthritis felt like, the way his knuckles seemed to swell and lock into place. But that made him think of Pa, and of Ma and Lois and—
He would have to think of them soon. Not yet.
There were no birds. That bothered him, irrationally, that there would be a sea breeze and a cliffside and no birds squawking overhead. Maybe there never had been birds here, or maybe they had been taken below, or maybe they were somewhere in that awful, beef-stock water, feathered corpses suspended in the impenetrable gloom.
They had both vomited buckets of that water, heaving stomachs and lolling tongues coated with its slick, oily taste. Calling it water wasn’t even right, but his words were leaving him. They were on land. That was a sea. Water would have to do, even if the taste that still lingered was like no form of H2O that Clark had ever experienced.
He wanted to ask Bruce about it, about whether he thought the birds had disappeared or never been, about what he thought the not-sea was made of, about anything at all. He couldn’t. It was enough to keep breathing, for now.

Team Red Fanfic Rec
I do not know if that is the canon name for Daredevil, Deadpool and Spiderman but it is the name I am using for them here. Anyway, my recommendation for today is a wonderful single chapter crack fic, on your marks by @deniigi, in which the vigilantes play keep-away with the characteristic intensity with which they approach everything - it is chaos. It is made even better by the masterful use of outsider POV in the form of the other superheroes and characters associated with them to further showcase the utter ridiculousness that is occurring here. This fic is 3,089 words of pure, sidesplitting, crack. No trigger warnings for this one except possibly slight possesiveness over an object, in a cracky way.

Harry Potter Fic Rec
My fantastic fic rec for today is How Fred and George Accidentally Befriended a Wannabe Dark Lord, by map_of_mysteries on ao3. Essentially, this arguably demented AU fanfic works off of the concept of what if Fred and George found the diary. There are genius Weasley twins, a Tom Riddle whom you cannot help but fall in love with, inter-house unity, So Much Crack, some equally wonderful crack treated seriously, pranking Dumbledore, and so much more. This brilliant fanfiction is one which I have reread many times, and it’s characterisation is so spot on that when I think of the twins, these are the versions I think of. Warnings for dubious morality, and some references to abuse (Dursleys), but it is complete with 203,282 words and 22 chapters, and absolutely worth the read.

Naruto and KHR fanfic rec
My recommendation of the day is Karmic Balance by @sanjuno. Ok, so this is a brilliantly written crack crossover fanfic, in which the basic premise is that Obito and Kakashi get reincarnated into the world of Katekyo Hitman Reborn and end up raising the Vongola Tenth Generation - chaos ensues. It is unfinished, and unlikely to be updated any time soon, but what is posted is glorious. Feral baby badasses, Obito and Kakashi being... Obito and Kakashi, and did I mention that the Vongola Tenth Generation get taught their particular brand of madness? There are 107,724 words and 14 chapters worth of something which is just... chefs kiss. Warnings for some level of violence (as you would expect of a work in those 2 particular fandoms), and essentially most of the basic warnings for KHR - i.e. murder, experimentation on children (not graphic), and references to child abuse. This is a thoroughly enjoyable work which I have reread several times and I have cackled in glee each time, so I absolutely recommend it to anyone who has read even one of these fandoms.

MCU fanfic rec
Alright so this time I’m recommending one of my favourite fanfics of all time, an MCU fanfic in which Tony Stark accidentally takes over the world, The War is Far From Over Now by @dontcallmecarrie. There are many extraordinary things about this fic but my favourite has to be how it makes this seemingly impossible series of events sound both plausible and, somehow, in character. It is a joy to read and contains some of my favourite tropes, including badass... everyone really, crack treated seriously, fix-it (yes this is somehow a fix-it) and Stark Industries being awesome. It is complete, with 40 chapters and 152000 words, and is absolutely worth the time investment. Warnings for unreliable narrator, codependency, mental health issues, dubious morality, unhealthy relationships and coping mechanisms, loss of trust and miscommunication. Having said that, this is at it’s core a suprisingly light fic and I thoroughly recommend it.

These are all fanfiction that has been posted relatively recently, some are still on going, some are one-shots.
They are all fics that I have enjoyed tremendously and thought deserved a recommendation.
First off, a brand new and quietly satisfying Golden Trio Harry Potter fic - Hermione’s Survival Syllabus, by @ladyhallen. It involves the golden trio in all their glory, and Hermione deciding that she, as well as Harry and Ron need to learn how to defend themselves in order to survive. Brilliantly in character and great for that bit of friendships and baby baddasses we all need in our fic diets. It currently has 2 chapters, with the possibility but not guarantee of more, and it is completely satisfying in its own right. Warnings for PTSD and Panic Attacks though.

Next, a batfamily fanfiction that involves dimension travel and a good parent Bruce and a bad parent Bruce, The French Mistake by Vamillepudding. It has commentary on the realities of the dc universe and the existence of the Robins, and the canon Robins getting the parenting they deserve. A Hurt/Comfort fic that I thoroughly enjoyed, it is 2 chapters in of 3, so still in progress but absolutely worth a read with brilliant writing, wonderful characterisation and an AU Bruce you can’t help but love and relate to. Warnings for child abuse though, as you would expect of a fanfiction involving canon Bruce Wayne.

Finally, another batfamily fanfiction whose first chapter has recently been posted, Baby Birds and Bat Caves by IzzyMRDB. It is an AU set during Jason’s era as Robin and centres on a young Tim Drake, who is a genius who lacks anything resembling self preservation skills. It interweaves some of my favourite tropes- genius Tim Drake, weird to a supernatural extent Gotham, and crack treated seriously. Essentially Tim finds a cave system under Gotham and finds all kinds of weird stuff down there, and proceeds to start a podcast that the author states is inspired by Welcome to Night Vale. It is brilliantly written and currently consists of 5 phenomenal and hilarious chapters, with a high likelihood of more coming out soon. Warnings for child neglect and referenced child abuse.
