Understanding Narcissistic Abuse: What It Is and How To Recover?
Tumblr media
Narcissistic abuse is a form of emotional and psychological abuse that is perpetrated by someone with narcissistic personality disorder or traits. It can take many forms, including gaslighting, manipulation, emotional neglect, belittling, and exploitation.
The following are some common signs of narcissistic abuse:
A constant need for attention and admiration
Belittling, demeaning, or insulting language or behavior
An inability to acknowledge or apologize for mistakes
A lack of empathy for others
Manipulation and gaslighting
Control and domination over their partner
Emotional neglect or abandonment
Blaming their partner for everything that goes wrong in the relationship
Isolation from family and friends
Threats or violence.
Recovering from narcissistic abuse can be a long and difficult process, but it is possible. The following are some strategies that may help:
Seek Therapy: Therapy can provide a safe space to process your experiences and emotions, and can help you develop coping mechanisms for dealing with triggers and negative thoughts.
Build a Support System: Surround yourself with friends and family who are supportive and understanding, and who can provide emotional support when you need it.
Practice Self-Care: Take care of yourself physically and emotionally. This can include exercise, healthy eating, getting enough sleep, and engaging in activities that bring you joy.
Set Boundaries: Establish clear boundaries with the person who has abused you, and stick to them. This can include limiting or cutting off contact, and refusing to engage in behaviors that are harmful to you.
Challenge Negative Self-Talk: Work to identify and challenge negative beliefs and thoughts about yourself that were reinforced by the abuse.
Take Legal Action If Necessary: If you have experienced physical or sexual abuse, or if your partner has engaged in illegal activities, consider taking legal action.
Recovering from narcissistic abuse can be a difficult and overwhelming process. It is important to seek professional help to heal from the trauma of being in an abusive relationship. Therapy for narcissistic trauma, emotional abuse victims, and survivors of domestic violence are all available options for those seeking help. Professional counselors and therapists can provide support, guidance, and tools to help individuals manage their emotions, cope with the effects of the abuse, and develop healthy coping strategies. With the right kind of therapy, survivors can begin to heal from their traumatic experiences and move forward with their lives.
Remember, recovery is a process, and it can take time. Be patient with yourself and seek support when you need it.

Thought of the Day
Tumblr media
Admitting your mistakes is never easy. It needs considerable power and encouragement. Only influential people can accept if they did anything wrong. When people avoid to make lame excuses and own their mistakes, their strong and courageous personalities become visible in front of others.
People start believing them because of their honesty, and they become save from losing their reputation.
It is impossible to move on and make progress if you have any past guilt in you because of any mistake you have done. If you have not admitted it, it will accompany you wherever you go. You will be caught up in the past mistakes which prevent you from moving on.
The solution to this is that you admit your mistake as soon as possible. It will improve your focus in your present instead of your past, and you will feel free from stressful feelings.

5 Useful Tips for Overcoming Seasonal Affective Disorder
Tumblr media
Fall is here, bringing with it lovely cooler weather, lovely leaves in transition, pumpkin spice everything and nights. Lack of sunlight causes Seasonal Affective Disorder, which can result in mental and emotional changes such as depression, anxiety, lethargy, and apathy, as well as changes in eating and sleeping habits. Seasonal Affective Disorder is believed to afflict 10 million Americans, with onset most often between the ages of 18 and 30. Read on to discover helpful ways to treat the symptoms of S.A.D.! 1. Get as Much Sunlight as Possible Getting as much sunlight as possible is key to overcoming S.A.D. Taking a walk on your lunch break, seeing the sunrise with a cup of coffee, or walking your dog after work can all lift your mood and vitality. Make sure your skin is as exposed as you can safely manage. During early fall and spring, keep your face and hands exposed to the sun. If it's cold outside, sitting in your car with the heater on or beside a sunny window can provide enough sunlight.
2. Exercise to Energize Yourself S.A.D. affects your energy, so even if you enjoy a daily workout, it can be hard to find the motivation to exercise. Creating a routine can help, such as morning yoga or a lunchtime walk, can help motivate you. Group exercise classes can provide accountability and friendly interaction to keep you motivated. Exercising will help boost your energy levels, as well as release feel-good neurotransmitters, and reduce cortisol, the stress hormone. 3. Look for Additional Feel-Good Comforts Don't mean snacks. These are the things that can boost our mood whether there’s sunshine or not. Playing with your pet, reading a good book or watching your favorite TV show, or indulging in your favorite food all reduce stress and boost feel-good hormones like oxytocin and dopamine and give us something to look forward to, improving our overall outlook. 4. Ask Your Doctor About Light Therapy "Light therapy" refers to using a light box to improve mood and energy levels. Light therapy isn't for everyone and can be harmful if tried without first consulting a doctor or licensed mental health professional experienced in light therapy. A lightbox is a specially designed device that provides 10,000 lux of scientifically proven light. Therefore, light therapy should be advised and overseen by a licensed professional. 5. Consider Participating in Treatment S.A.D. make things worse that are already going on. Maybe you've always had problems with depression, anxiety, or lack of energy, and now the lack of sunlight is making them worse. Treating the problems that cause S.A.D. can help ease the symptoms and make fall and winter more enjoyable. A licensed and trained therapist can help you feel better and give you more advice on how to deal with seasonal affective disorder.
Many people are affected by S.A.D., but you don't have to be one of them. You can overcome the wintertime blues and carry on living your life to the fullest with or without the sunlight if you use the right strategies!
