Cannot agree more.
I understand that James and Regulus is a popular ship. But I simply don't understand it.
Regulus can have his character redmeption arc, and I've seen it done well. But he doesn't have to fall for James in the process.
Maybe part of it is the forbidden "my best friend's brother" or "my brother's best friend" but I feel like the AU-ness of Regulus and James doesn't work.
I'm open to Jegulus fics. I have read them. And I they have been written well. I just can't get behind the ship. It's like they are completely different characters for me and I have to complete suspend my belief.
Increasingly, I find it hard to find good and new Wolfstar without Jegulus and that saddens me.
I struggle with them and will always favour a James and Lily relationship.
Everyone always says James "I would die for you" Potter and Regulus "I would kill for you" Black
But I think James "I would kill for you" Potter and Regulus "I would die for you" Black has so much force
Like James is not a violent person but would become violent for the ones he love in an instant, and Regulus is a martyr, a tragedy, but at the same time he would only sacrifice himself for the ones he truly loved in every circumstances

To the entire fanfic community, I never expected this post to resonate with so many people!
I can't tell you how much I have enjoyed seeing all the comments that everyone has made on this. It really is a special thing to be part of such a special community.
The truth is, we are fanfic writers. We do research things. We are scared of being on watch lists from authorities because of what we spend hours looking up. We do craft a sentence, only for it to be deleted. We do know facts about the strangest topics that, if they ever do come up in trivia, we never know what to say when asked how on this green earth we knew the answer to the question.
It's for us. It's for our fandoms. It's for the readers.
We're a brilliant, excitable, loyal, loving and enthusiastic bunch (with a medium to large obsession with grammar and punctuation).
I adore every one of you.
