AITA for building a giant wooden horse, consequently bringing about the fall of a nation?
The horse has already been built, so I'm just looking for a second opinion. I (35m) have been at war for 10 years now. Our greatest soldier is dead. Our commander wants to go home. I want to go home. The enemy would also want to go home but they're already home so really I envy them, even if we did kind of kill their greatest soldier too. Technically, we're also taking their home so maybe I don't envy them. As I'm typing this inside the horse, they're bringing us into the city gates,
The fact that my valgrace playlist is almost completely made up of angsty, sad love/heartbreak songs and my pipabeth playlist is just fluffy songs abt lesbians loving their girlfriends. Or just fluffy love songs in general.
Guess which one makes me cry the hardest. (Hint; starts with V, ends with algrace)
I do not, have not, and probably will not, ever ship percabeth. It was a jumpscare in BotL. I genuinely don't see them as romantic partners. Pipabeth? Hell yeah. Jercy? Kinda, maybe not as much as I ship valgrace, but sure. Percabeth? What???
And it's not bc I only ship mlm/wlw ships. I just genuinely do not see anything romantic between them.
Also, I don't get Theyna??? Let my aroace besties be aroace besties. And also Artemis. I'm so tired of the aroace erasure with Artemis. (I mean this with the absolute least amount of malice possible.)
I was just freaking out over having a conversation with a guy i like (the first person I've ever been romantically attracted to as a demiromantic asexual person) and tbh it gives me valgrace vibes 🤭
May I ask what you don’t like about the Calypso song snippets?
Love in paradise is fine, it comes across creepy enough and you can tell Odysseus doesn't want to be there.
I'm not sorry for loving you is a bit iffy to me. You can sort of tell there's meant to be a gaslighting sort of undertone to it but that's only if you've read the Odyssey/know the story. The comments on the snippets are full of people who sympathize Calypso and go "omg poor Calypso 💔". I also am very wary of the line "I love you, but not in the way you want to" which I Get might be him trying to placate her, but according to the snippet it's like a last word kind of thing. Like he says it and then he leaves, Calypso singing after him in despair. So it doesn't really feel placating, more like a confession
I get that he might not want to make the musical as dark, which is perfectly fair, (and it probably won't come across well to a modern audience that hey. All the enemies he comes across on his journey are either monsters, gods, or evil magic women) but well. Calypso is Very much a rapist and it feels weird to have her be viewed as sympathetic by so much of the fan base. (This is also my problem with her pjo)
That's exactly what I was thinking! :) I'll make a post later, but yeah, Annabeth is definitely demiromantic in my mind
Headcanoning all the Athena kids as aroace-spec bc i dont like how rick fumbled with that major part of Athena's existence/character (being another goddess who vowed to maidenhood)
