just a small update
I've finally started a grimiore that I'm actually happy with and feeling relaxed about. I have this issue where empty notebooks scare me and I have a temdancy to start off things like grimiores trying to be super neat and tidy and have everything very aesthetically pleasing and uniform, but I've finally given myself the opportunity to do things intuitively and as a result, I'm really enjoying it. it helps that the notebook I'm using is a nice notebook that I like a lot but isn't super expensive and certainly not one of a kind. I'm really enjoying doing cute lil illustrations of flowers but allowing myself to write in the way that I write (by which I mean messy. I'm dyslexic and also have mild dysgraphia. My handwriting isn't pretty). I might post some pages from it occasionally because some of it will just be regurgitated information rather being personal journaling, but I'm not sure yet.

The Witch of the Forest's Tarot Magick Deck
surprise surprise, I got another tarot deck!
I recently acquired The Witch of the Forest's Tarot Magick Deck. what drew me to this deck was the use of colour in the art and contrast between light and dark. often when I'm buying a deck, it's the art that draws me to it.
this deck was pretty inexpensive and I got it at a discount. it's retail price is £25 and I got it for £13.70! it's a beautiful high quality deck. the box is a simple 2 piece box of robust cardboard, the deck itself is thick, sturdy cardstock, and the booklet is very well made and put together, including quite a few examples of spreads as well as an explanation of the astrological symbols.
Tumblr media
the style of artwork is very nice to look at with vibrant colours, and many cool and fun details in each cards (I particularly like the lizards shown on many of the wands cards).
my only complaint about this deck is extremely nit-picky and not very important at all, which is that I'm not overly fond of the ribbon in the box, I prefer ribbons to go sideways across the box, as it makes them much easier to use. the way that it's attached looks a little like an after thought.
Tumblr media
(picture to show a comparison between ribbons in 3 deck boxes)
overall, I love this deck, and it will be getting regular use in my practice!

Lord of the Rings Tarot
my sister gave me the Lord of the Rings tarot by Tomás Hijo. it's such a beautiful deck.
the box is fantastic quality. a lovely two piece box covered in beautiful art that well represents the card inside. it has an insert to hold the deck snuggly and the guide sits on top. the art style of both deck and box uses either linocut or woodcut printing, which is a style that I really love.
Tumblr media
The cards themselves are all beautiful, and the guide to go with it ties the lore from Lord of the Rings into the meaning behind each card so beautiful. The design on each card is printed with care and skill that I, as someone who has done lino cut projects, am amazed by. The artwork truly is stunning.
This is fast becoming my new favourite deck, it's such a pleasure to do readings with. The cards are easy to read and interparate, the guide is succinct. The card are fairly thick and sturdy cardstock and are unlikely to get damaged when used and stored with care, and the same can be said for the box and guide. It is, overall, a high quality deck and I couldn't recommend it more!

tarot rant
this is probably just going to be a ramble about some things, feel free to ignore.
Christmas is going a little sideways this year because of people making other plans and my mum spending a lot of this month in hospital, so I did a super simple tarot spread, lit some incense and candles, made tea, the whole shebang. and the reading made me relax so much about Christmas. I don't deal well with things like yearly events changing after years of them being the same so I was really freaking out and it helped a lot.
it also made me realised how much I'm going to miss incense and candles in my practice when I head back to uni after the holidays, my accommodation doesn't allow anything that produces smoke or any open flame.
anyway, I'm a big believer in everyone trying things like tarot at some point in their life. even if you don't believe there's anything behind it, it can forse you to look at things from a new perspective. it's as much to bring things forward from your subconscious as it is to tell you something new.

well hello there
hi, I've been very absent from this page and apologies for that. I'm getting more into my practice again and that potentially means I'll be posting more again, but I'm not totally sure yet.
hopefully some people have stuck around through my 3 year hiatus.
I've done a small and subtle make over of the page, because it's not going to be exactly the same as before
update
super simple list of things that have changed and things that haven't
still working with tarot, runes, a few other things
still predominantly follow norse paganism and the norse pantheon, still with some influences from other practices (none that are closed practices, of course)
getting into herbalism, which is new to me. I never had any interest in it before but, through starting to drink more herbal tea and things like that, I'm getting more into it
still learning. always.
other life update stuff
a lot of other stuff has happened in the last 3 and a half years that will likely influence content and my practice going forward
my health went to shit and I found out that I have multiple chronic illnesses/disabilities
I went through a whole lot of toxic friendships
I was in a 2 year long abusive relationship (left a year and a half ago)
went through a lot of other traumatic things, including assault and substance abuse
I was 15 when I last posted, I'm now 20. so I've also emotionally matured a lot
I don't know how many of these things with show in things on this page but it may end up being quite relevant. I am healing from things and learning to move on, and my practice is something that is closely tied into those practices.

Greetings, just started working with Tarot & getting back into witchcraft again after a break from it. Sometimes I use them to talk to my deites and my spirits guides. But, my question is, is it possible for other spirits to come in & trick me with false information or imposter a deity?
I don't currently work with deities so I don't have any experience in it, but yes, I have heard of that happening

Hey guys, I'm sorry I haven't been posting
Currently I am on working on divination because theres a lot of stuff going on my life right now that's very draining and spellwork was also getting tiring so I'm taking a break and concentrating on tarot and runes, so I don't have much to post about. I'll start posting again when I am mentally ready to put more time into my practice
Thanks

Don’t know if you’ve answered already but are there any good online sources that you know of?
There's some good witchy discord servers that can be found, theres the pagans and wiccans amino, theres an app called Saged that has some good stuff and the witchy info on tiktok is surprisingly useful. As for websites, I don't really know. I tend to ask questions on discord or use books

helllo! is it alright if i ask what sea witches & eclectic witches etc. means?
A sea witch is a witch who works with marine imagery, tools, and resources. An eclectic witch is a witch who works with a large range of things. They take things from green witchcraft, sea witchcraft, divination witchcraft, etc...
Also all questions are welcome

Starting out in witchcraft
I've been asked a lot of questions by people who are interested in witchcraft but don't know where to start, and I gotta say, it is super difficult to figure where the best place to start is, and so I figured I would make a post specifically for those baby witches who aren't sure where to start
Research
The most important part of being a baby witch is research, but theses such a huge amount of information out there that it can be difficult to know where to start. The easiest way to do it, and the way I did it, is by just starting with what drew you to witchcraft. I was drawn to runes initially so started researching runestones and divination, which is how I got into tarot and everything else came in turn. Even if what drew you to the craft is something as superficial as fashion, you can still research where those fashions came from. Question everything. You see lavender is used in a spell? Research why. You see that a certain colour of candle works better in a spell? Research why. You see a sigil? Find out the origin. Someone gives you a tip on the internet? Do background research into what they said. Never just blindly follow what someone says especially if you're going to use it in your craft. Make sure you know exactly what everything is, means, and where it came from before using it in any capacity. The better informed you are, the more likely good things will come from your craft.
Book of Shadows and Grimiors
Keeping a book of shadows or a grimior (or both) is a great way to record your research. Its important not to get caught up in the way your book shadows looks. Of course if you want to make a beautiful book of shadows then that's fantastic, but if a page takes you so long to write that it's hindering your research, then I would consider keeping both a book of shadows and a grimior. A grimior is purely for information, facts, spells, etc... a grimior is worth taking time over. A book of shadows functions more as a journal. For writing personal experience, notes, etc... I keep a very messy book of shadows in a plain notebook that I just write whatever in. It has no kind of order to it all, and I suspect no one can read it but me. I also keep a grimior in a beautiful leather bound notebook that I bought in italy and I write in it in neat and specifically stylised writing that is easy to read. Infact, I also have a separate tarot journal. Having both, I find, puts less pressure on academics.
Start simple
Don't expect too much too soon. I wouldn't recommend diving right into complex spellwork. If you've just started, there are probably things you don't know about casting spells that are important to keep you safe, and you haven't had the time find your energy and how to focus it to the best of your abilities. Give yourself time to figure out what you want in your practice rather than diving into one specific path. And absolutely don't work with the fae straight off the bat. Bad idea. Bad. Don't do it. Do your research. I also would recommend getting a feel for the practice and for what you want from it before committing yourself to a deity/deities. Again, give yourself time to figure out what path to take. It's totally ok to change your path along the way. If you initially decide to be a green witch but change your mind and opt for cottage witchcraft, that is totally ok. Changing you path even when you were absolutely certain, is absolutely fine, even if you've been on your initial path for years (even decades). I haven't decided a specific path at all yet, so I'm currently an eclectic witch, but that may, and is likely, to change
It's important to remember that every witch's path is different. Gatekeeping is a big problem in the community but don't allow people to tell you that you have to be born into a family of witches to be a witch. It's a practice, not an inherited gift or race.
Tbh this post isnt complete and I'll continue to add to it very time as I think of things

I saw your post about doing a daily draw. What type of question should you ask before you draw? Do I need to ask a question?
For a daily card I don't always ask a question because it's just supposed to show how all the events of the day will come together. If I do ask it's usually something like "what are today's vibes" or something like that.
