ITS SO GOOD STOP
READY MY LOVE’S WORK RN OR ELSE!!!!
❛ opla! sanji + reader who takes naps on the regular ❜
warnings: opla episode 5 spoilers, brief (very brief) mention of sanji's smoking habit, reader's unhealthy sleeping and eating schedule but its not too descriptive pairing: sanji x implied fem! reader word count: 700+
Tumblr media
sanji àŒŠ*·˚
after travelling through the fog and arriving at the infamous baratie, you could almost feel your eyelids droop heavily
when you and the rest of the crew were seated, you cuddled up next to nami's side and told them (and yourself) that you'll just be resting your eyes
nobody told you that the waiter had come to take your orders
poor man was staring right at you, almost appalled
probably a bit endeared, too
"is she alright?"
"oh, she does that sometimes" literally shut your mouth usopp
"coffee for you, then, madam?"
its a whole different story when he officially joins the crew
at first, he worries you had fallen overboard and calls for the rest of the crew
zoro has to tell him where you are and what you're doing
audibly sighs in relief
when months pass by, his presence slowly begins to mix in with yours
constant check-ups if you've missed breakfast, lunch, dinner, or even snack time
when he finds you, he sets down the beverage or plate of food and watches you for a moment longer before leaving
eventually, you'll start telling him where you'll be under the guise that he shouldn't worry himself by seeking you out
"but that's the fun part of it, darling."
he pairs it with a cheeky little smirk and wink
in general, he always serves you coffee AND whatever beverage with your breakfast and lunch meals
says no if its far too late in the afternoon
maybe if you beg hard enough he'll cave, and he certainly does
he joins you for a cup of coffee even though its six in the afternoon
it starts escalating to where he'll pick you up from your current napping spot and transfer you over to yours and nami's shared sleeping cabin
so, so gentle with handling you
will whisper sweet praises under his breathe
when nami shares that a particularly rough storm is gonna hit later in the evening, sanji's immediately going to you
"sorry, love. it's the navigator's orders."
"we don't have a proper doctor yet, it would be bad if your immune system shut down when we're in the middle of nowhere."
adds in, "though, i wouldn't be opposed to nursing you back to health."
the crew notices it, enemies notices it, heck even the birds notices how sanji takes care of you
also, pretty boy really loves looking at you when you're at your most vulnerable
"hey sanji, you've got a little something on your eye."
poor boy jokingly gets called a creep by usopp at least once a day
when you're on your third nap of the day, sanji literally has to sit you down in one of the kitchen chairs
"stay put and don't fall asleep, please."
now as much as he would think this habit is cute, he also knows that it's a bit unhealthy
especially if you aren't eating enough and is peculiarly tired all the time
he tries to get you on a loose sleeping schedule
nothing really strict yet, because he knows how hard it is to change a habit
cough his smoking cough
"take it easy, love, it's only been a week since we started."
we. we as in you and him. we as in he is in this with you even though he doesn't have anything to do with your bad sleeping habit.
the very thought makes you swoon
it certainly takes a while and you're a bit surprised he hasn't yelled at you out of frustration
but when you find yourself still having the energy after doing minuscule stuff that would have you growing tired by the second
you just had to tell him all about it
"... and you know, sanji, i don't feel tired at all! winded, yes, but not fatigued."
"really?" he inquires from his spot, eyes flickering up to look at you.
he stopped chopping, only a brief second, before he continued on
"i'm so proud of you, my love."
his love.
whatever the two of you were was up in the air, up for debate
but honestly? it didn't matter to you
official or not, it still made your insides warm
and as much as you used to love naps, you loved his dedication to you more
Tumblr media
notes: gee im not too fond of using "v*nsm*ke" as sanji's last name, hence the absence of it in my tags and post. a tag list is in the works as well as an ask box!! feedback, comments, and reblogs are all greatly welcomed!

so sweet :(((
Tumblr media
it’s early in the morning when lyney wakes up—a habit he developed from being a fatuus.
however, you on the other hand, were sleeping as soundly as ever.
the sun is beaming throughout his room, illuminating all the small crevices of your face for only him to see. light flows around the entire room, but it mainly seems to be focusing on you.
his finger lightly brushed the apple of your cheek as you calmly sleep. it moves throughout your face, from tracing your cheek to tracing your jawline. and then—lyney gets too carried away with himself—his finger brushes your bottom lip carefully, making sure not to wake you.
you still for a while, until you don’t. you turn your body to face lyney.
“stop that,” you mumble.
lyney jumps back, partially because: one, he didn’t know you were awake, and two, you moved and your eyes were still closed.
lyney goes to apologize, but you cut him off, “the bunnies need to go in the hat.”
um, what?
lyney shifts himself closer to you, watching as your eyelids dart back and forth. your hands are slightly moving as well, almost as if they’re trying to grab something.
“get back in here,” you slur, still making grabbing motions with your hands. “lyney is gonna be mad if you don’t get back in the hat.”
oh? so you’re dreaming about him?
lyney can’t help but smirk to himself. you’re dreaming about him. throughout his entire life, lyney never imagined himself being dreamed about. in all honesty, he never imagined himself having someone that would dream about him, at all.
yet, here you are. lyney wonders to himself: what is he doing in your dream? is he berating you for letting the bunnies go? he hopes that isn’t the case, since lyney couldn’t even imagine himself raising his voice at you. did he let the bunnies go himself?
he raises a hand to touch you again, but this time, you catch his wrist in your hands. did you wake up? how could you do that without even opening your eyes?
“got you,” lyney could hear the satisfaction in your voice. he knows you’re referring to the bunnies, but he would like to think that you’re referring to him.
“you got me,” lyney quietly smiles. you’ve got me always. lyney uses his free hand to brush over your features once again, simply admiring the lovely sight that was next to him in bed. it’s still marveling how he’s managed to get someone like you.
he gently moves your head—it’s a small move, so small and so light that you’re still fast asleep—and he takes his time to fully soak in your light. the sun is still shining over you. even when sleeping, you still look radiant.
lyney sighs. you say that you got him, but really, he got you (somehow). he feels as though he was yours before you were ever his. lyney plants a small kiss on the corner of your lips before he shufles back into bed with you.
“lyney?” you groggily move. uh oh. this time, lyney has a feeling you’re actually awake.
your hand is still on his wrist, yet the grip feels looser than it did before. however, before you could let go, lyney holds your hand in place.
“shh,” lyney gently strokes your eyebrow, “it’s all dream,” he assures you.
lyney smiles as he watches your eyes flutter shut, and as you inch closer to him when you fall asleep. you’re resting on his shoulder now, your warm engulfing him in all the best ways.
he cannot wait to remind you of this dream when you wake up.

Jealousy, Jealousy
Tumblr media
i really loved how bad for business turned out, and it seems you all did too!! so here's a continuation of the bfb universe/storyline :) it's not exactly a part two
warnings! jealousy (sanji's)
word count: 1,720
opla! sanji x f! reader
i actually took the time to reference back to this scene in the live action to make sure i got their orders right :) !! also hi i am alive !!! i just got busy with work- and i had a mini con to go to this weekend and i cosplayed nami! :D -> i have also been struggling with tremendous writers block, and was trying to force myself to write about zoro for days! but i couldn't, and i was frustrated with myself untill i rememebred this isnt a job, this is for fun for me and you guys. so i went back to some of the things i've written and felt like i could continue this one :) the story really flowed from there and i wrote a lot in a short span sooooooo <3 ily all! thanks for reading as always <3333
sanji vinsmoke is jealous.
the cook is used to woman falling at his feet, swooning over his flirty personality. either that or they get annoyed at him and clearly show disinterest. (oftentimes calling him names and sometimes resulting in him getting hit)
but you, the one girl he actually held a candle for, he couldn’t even seem to get a rejection from you. that would’ve made things so much easier for him and his heart. it’s gotten to the point he’s wishing you would tell him you don’t return his feelings. sure it would hurt in the moment, but at least he could have (hopefully) forced himself to move on.
but no, you won’t reject him; nor will you swoon at his advances. they seem to roll right off you like beads of rain on a window. never a hint of blush on your cheeks, no angrily quirked brows. how was he meant to understand? there are two reasonable reactions to such a forward man, either interest or not. how do you manage to toe the line so perfectly?
it drove him mad, not only were you horribly hard to read, every once in a while you would flirt aggressively back at him. it would always catch the poor boy off guard, leaving him stunned and blushing standing wherever he was. oftentimes you did it right in the middle of the kitchen, leaving him to deal with the playful teasing of the other workers, walking off to continue doing your job.
you would be the death of him surely.
especially when the sight of you smiling so sweetly at that stupid swordsman causes a painful squeeze in his chest. his grip on the tray he was holding is bruising, and there’s a jealous rage brewing inside of him.
-
“hello my name is y/n, and i’ll be your waitress today. can i start you guys with any refreshments?” you flip over a page on your notepad, ready to write down the group's requests. what a charming bunch they were, with just a glance you could tell they really cared for one another.
“i’ll take a beer,” the green haired man speaks up, and you nod with a smile.
“i’ll take two beers, i normally have three but..” he trails off as the woman at the table speaks up.
“i’ll take a water.”
“and a glass of milk!” the endearing boy with a straw hat adds on, his words are muffled by the bun he was still chewing. when coming to greet them you’d brough over a basket of perfectly warmed buns with butter. nodding at them all, your pen into your apron as you repeat back to them.
“three beers, milk and water, coming right up you guys.” you step back with a bow, turning towards the kitchen. doing so you notice your best friend is glaring in your direction, and as you walk back you tilt your head at him. when you get closer you realize his glare wasn't directed towards you, but the swordsman you had taken the order from. he doesn’t even seem to pay you any mind as you approach him, too focused on the table you had just walked away from. when you reach him where he stands in front of the doorway, you snap your fingers in his face. it seems to snap him out of it, and he looks down at you with a charming smile.
“hello my love, what can i do for you?” his hand is placed on your shoulder sweetly. the touch warms your body, but you shake it off to cross your arms.
“what’s up with you, why were you glaring at my table? do you know them?” you gesture back towards your table, and a flush washes over his face when he realizes he’d been caught. he straightens his tie in an attempt to shake off his shame,
“not a clue who they are darling.” your eyebrow raises in suspicion, you’re not buying it. he seems to know you won’t, and he tucks his hand into his pockets as he shrugs.
“you just glare at people you don’t know now sanj?” a pout forms out of frustration. while you were wondering why he was lying to you so blatantly, he was internally swooning at how adorable you looked in that moment, and the sweet way you'd shortend his name. the grip you had over his heart was the strongest in all the seas.
“don’t worry, pretty lady, it’s nothing. now if you’ll excuse me i’ve got my own tables to wait on.” he’s internally scrambling to figure out how to distract you from what he was caught doing, in a moment of boldness (or a crazy attempt to change the subject), he leans down to press a kiss to the side of your head.
the action causes your eyes to almost bulge out of your head as you begin to blush. a smug smile forms on sanji’s face at the sight, he’d never felt more accomplished than he did in that moment. not only had he distracted you, he’d made your face light up all pretty and embarrassed. he winked at you before brushing past you to do his job, pushing open the swinging door into the kitchen behind you.
you’re left in shock trying to wrap your brain around his actions, ‘what had gotten into him?’ as bold and flirtatious as he was, you would have never expected a display like that in front of all the customers.
oh shit, the customers. ‘had anyone seen that? oh gods.’ your hands clench into fists as you attempt to bring yourself back to reality and calm down, and you push past the doors of the kitchen. your eyes are focused on the ground as you collect the drinks needed for your table, placing them all on a tray and balancing them on one hand. you take a moment to breathe in and compose yourself before walking back out into the dining room.
you eyes scan the room and find your favorite blond waiting on a table on the opposite side of the room of your own. his location makes it easy to return to the table without incident, placing down the three beers before the milk and water. with a smile, you tuck the tray under your arm and pull out your notepad again to continue taking their orders. maybe doing your job could distract from the rapid beating in your chest.
“you guys decided on food yet?”
“one of everything!” the boy with a straw hat speaks up, and you quirk your eyebrow. they didn't look like the big spenders you were used too, but it wasn’t really your place to mention that. your smile never slips as you nod, writing it down and once again bowing before you leave. by your luck sanji seems to be waiting for you at the doorway of the kitchen. so much for the idea you had to avoid him until you’d calmed down.
he holds his hand out, offering to take your tray from you. his kind offer brings a smile to your lips, and you decide to shove down whatever inner turmoil was happening and act like what he did hadn’t happened. (he sure was.)
“any interesting orders?” he smiles, quirking a brow at you as you offer him your serving tray. you laugh, holding out your notepad to show him where you had written down ‘one of everything’ sanji’s heart squeezes at how cute your handwriting is, and he can’t help the chuckle. “well it looks like you’ll need some help taking out this order then, love.” the pet name causes the usual skip in your heartbeat, and you smile, nodding in acceptance of his offer for help, pushing past him into the kitchen to get your cooks started on the order of everything.
-
the food gets taken out in waves, sanji always accompanying you with an extra plate or two. the table is rather nice about it, they’re always caught up in conversation. even still they thank you for every plate you place down, they seem like genuine people. it warms your heart to see such a close group of friends.
you can’t help but notice the way sanji doesn’t even pay the girl at the table any mind, too busy glaring at the green haired man, his hands lingering on your shoulder or back longer than they needed to. how he’d managed to add on to his unusual behavior, you wouldnt understand.
not that he really had any reason to be placing a tender hand on your back while you were serving guests. the third time it happens you turn to look at him with a raised eyebrow, and he turns to smile down at you sweetly, his hand on your back rubbing up and down. you look at him incredulously, sanji steps back, bowing before walking back towards the kitchen. before he left his gaze lingered on the man longer than should have been acceptable. you have to hold back a frustrated huff, turning back to the table with a plastered smile
“don’t hesitate to call me if you need anything! i hope you enjoy your meal.” you finish off the sentence with a bow, turning to look at the swordsman when he speaks up with a snort. “are you sure, wouldn’t want to make your busboy anymore jealous than he already is?” your eyes widen in confusion, not only at the notion, but the unnecessary insult towards your sanji.
“whatever could you mean.” the whole table turns to you, and the redhead quirks a brow at you, adding on.
“you’re not really that clueless, are you?” your mouth drops open, and a blush begins to cover your cheeks.
“no, i didn’t think i was.”
and then you’re even more confused. what reason would he have to be jealous over you and a random guest? it’s not like the man had even given you the time of day, or you’d even wanted it? all you’d done was take his orders.
the thought feels so impossible, even so it has already quickly begun eating away at your brain and heart. it was the only logical explanation for all his odd behaviors tonight.
sanji vinsmoke, was jealous. over you.

she’s actually my favorite writer. ITS SO GOOD
Sanji comforting reader in a storm. Maybe it's a really awful rock, the boat sort of storm, waves threating to sink them, or they just hate storms even the tiniest one.
oooo i like this! i decided to combine this request with another one. here is how go fish! Sanji would comfort reader during a storm:
(this is essentially, go fish! part 3.5)
masterlist
God, you hated storms. Well, not technically, since you did love a normal rainy day here and there (emphasis on normal). You didn't even mind a thunderstorm either but you were learning that experiencing a stormy day on land and sea were two completely different things, since your chances of drowning on land could be easily avoided by seeking higher ground. But at sea? The only ground you had was the ship beneath your feet and even that wasn't guaranteed.
And weathering a storm on the high sea at night? Even worse.
You didn't even think things could get any worse until the ship started to rock.
It was extremely late in the night, or remarkably early in the morning, you couldn't tell anymore, when the storm outside had just turned from bad to worse.
From inside your shared room with Nami, you could hear the violent crashing of waves outside of your window along with the occasional crack of thunder. You were swinging all over the place in your hammock, occasionally hitting the wall if a wave got too rough.
"N-Nami?" you called out loudly. "Are you- shit!"
Suddenly, a huge rogue wave slammed into the side of the Going Merry, completely rocking the boat, slamming you hard against the wall, and causing you to fall out of your hammock and unceremoniously face-first to the floor.
"Ugh, fuck," you groaned.
Slowly, you picked yourself up and crawled towards your makeshift barrel nightstand, feeling around to find your smaller, hand-held lamp. Finding it, you carefully stood up, your head pounding from the fall, and flicked on your lamp. The small flame from the lamp illuminated your shared room, casting it all in a soft, eery glow considering the night's circumstances.
"Nami?" you called out again, carefully taking a few shaky steps towards your crewmate's hammock, the ship rocking back at forth.
But when you got closer to her hammock, you saw it empty.
"Fucking shit," you muttered, realizing where she must be with rising panic. "She better not be out on deck during this goddamn storm. Not even Nami can get us through this."
Knowing your friend, and the rest of the crew you realized, it dawned on you that she, Usopp, and Luffy were all probably trying their best to weather this storm and come up with a plan.
With a stab of fear to your heart, you quickly made your way towards the door, fully intending to push your own fear of possibly dying aside to drag your friends off the deck during such a life-threatening storm. When you opened the door and stepped into the hall, however, another violent wave rocked the boat, almost making you lose your footing and crash into the wall.
As you put out your right hand to steady yourself against the wall, you heard a door open and a voice call out your name that you would recognize anywhere.
"Y/n?" Sanji called out, a hint of worry in his voice as he made his way over to you, swaying in rhythm with the ship. "You alright, my love?"
"Ah-uh, no, Nami!" you quickly sputtered, trying to best explain the rush of panicked thoughts swirling around in your head. You whipped your head to face Sanji, who was now a foot away from you, the soft glow of your lamp illuminating his pretty face and saw his calm blue eyes looking down at you with concern. "Nami, she's, she's not in our room. And Usopp! Luffy! They're not outside, are they?" you asked in a hurry, trying to frantically turn around and head down the hall toward the deck but the ship's rocking causing you to nearly topple over. "Sanji, they'll die out there-"
"Woah, woah, woah," he calmly started, reaching out and grabbing your right arm, steadying you. "Slow down, love. Hold on," he gently squeezed your arm to get your attention. "Look at me, y/n."
His touch cut through your panicked thoughts, calming you down slightly and steadying you in the hallway.
"Turn and face me."
You did as he instructed, backtracking your steps to face him fully as you looked up at him, and that's when you felt something wet on your face. What the-
"Aw, hun, you're bleeding," he murmured, concern for you washing over his tanned features as he examined your face. He gently took your chin in his hand, his fingers gingerly tilting your face in a couple of different directions as he asked, "What happened?"
Your skin tingled where he touched you, his touch feeling electric even though he was handling you as delicately as a porcelain doll. You swallowed hard, trying to keep your focus on his question. "The storm," you started explaining, your eyes wandering away from his curious gaze, "it- it hit me against the wall and I fell out of my hammock."
Sanji leaned in closer as you explained yourself, humming to himself as he listened.
At Sanji's close proximity, you could feel the warmth he radiated and in turn, you felt your heart skip a beat. "But, I'm ok Sanji. Really," you reassured him as you involuntarily scrunched up your nose, but when you did that you felt a sharp pain, causing you to flinch out of his grip. "Ow," you hissed, your eyelids fluttering closed.
You heard fabric rustling, suddenly feeling Sanji's gentle touch on your chin again, bringing your head forward slightly and a cloth being pressed against the bottom of your nose.
"There you go, love. Just keep this there," the cook cooed. "That's it."
Immediately, you opened your eyes, and the sight you were greeted with nearly caused your eyes to pop out of their sockets. Your eyebrows shot up, your face flushing crimson at seeing Sanji completely shirtless before you.
"S-Sanji," you stuttered, taking a second to actually look at the man before you.
You were too busy before to notice, but Sanji wasn't wearing his usual button-down with a tie and pair of slacks. Instead, he was barefoot, wearing what looked like skinny black sleep pants, and well, now, no shirt.
For a moment you thought it was cute to see him in his sleeping attire, but you couldn't help but gawk at his figure. Sanji was absolutely ripped. He was fit as hell. I mean, you knew he was fit when you first met him, you did see him save a drowning Luffy after all and saw his muscles back then, but that was from afar. But this? This...was different. You didn't know him back then like you did now. You didn't have a crush on him back then, hell- you weren't in love with him then.
Back at the Baratie, you had just thought he was a cute waiter. But now? You were certain he was the love of your life and here he was, completely shirtless, his six-pack abs and every other chiseled muscle defined in the intimate glow of your lantern's light.
He was the most gorgeous man you've ever seen.
"Sanji," you breathed, swallowing and trying your hardest to concentrate. But you didn't know what to say. "I...I think I'll just go lie down back in my room."
"Ah, like hell you are," he chastised with a wry smile. "Absolutely not, Missus. There's no way I'm letting you out of my sight tonight. Come on," he nodded towards the direction of his room, guiding you along. "You'll be spending the night with me."
Following him along, but not really trying to pull away, you felt your heart start to race like a rabbit's at the idea of spending the night with Sanji. Alone in his room. Just the two of you.
"Are you-?"
But he silenced you with a good-natured grin. "Ah- no protesting! Doctor's orders."
"But Sanji you're not a doctor," you started to protest anyway as he opened the door to his room and gestured for you to go inside. You stood at the doorway, looking up at him. "You're a chef."
He winked. "Chef's orders then."
You thanked whatever God was out there that it was nighttime and storming terribly so it could hide your blush better. Quickly looking away, you mumbled, "Yes, chef," as you shuffled into his room.
That brought a good-natured laugh out of the blonde cook as he quietly closed the door behind him. "There you go. Good girl."
As you stood in the middle of the room, you tried your hardest not to notice the atmosphere shift slightly when you heard his door click shut. This was the first time you both had full privacy, where you both were truly alone and away from prying eyes. You took a deep breath, trying to calm your nerves, as you tried your best to take in his room as best you could in the dim light.
You didn't get a very good look, however, because another rogue wave crashed straight into the ship, rocking the boat, and causing you to lose your balance and stumble backward. A yelp of surprise and fear came out of you, expecting to fall hard again, but instead of hitting the floor, you fell into Sanji instead.
"Woah! Careful," Sanji called out as he caught you and held you against him.
You exhaled a shuddering breath, feeling the fear from earlier creep back up into your chest, as you rested your head back and against Sanji's bare torso. "Sanji," you whispered silently, your breathing becoming quicker as your thoughts raced. "I'm...I'm scared," you said, your voice breaking slightly at the end.
You felt Sanji rub his hands along your upper arms soothingly before resting them on your shoulders with a reassuring squeeze.
"Don't worry, y/n," his voice murmured in your ear. You could feel his voice resonate from deep within his chest. It brought goosebumps to your skin. "I'm here. I won't let anything bad happen to you."
After a moment, you whispered, "Promise?"
"Cross my heart and hope to die."
Part of you wanted to confess, right then and there. Just, let everything all out and say those three little words that danced on the tip of your tongue: 'I love you'. What did you have to lose? What if the ship did indeed capsize during this storm and you never got the chance to tell this man, this sweet, loving, kind, generous man that you loved him, that he was the love of your life.
You opened your mouth, ready to just spill out your feelings and emotions in this perfectly, imperfect moment but the ship swayed, catching you off guard, and there was a crack of thunder outside, bringing you back to the reality of the situation and you couldn't.
Breaking the spell of the moment, Sanji spoke up quietly. He placed a hand over yours, bringing his midnight blue cotton t-shirt up to your face as he instructed, "Alright, keep this here, my love. Put a little bit of pressure on there...like that, yeah. Don't tilt your head back. I don't want you swallowing your blood now, yeah?" He then took a step to the side, guiding you towards his bed. "Take a seat on my bunk, back against the wall, ok? Don't lie down. I'll join you in a second."
You did as you were told, placing your lamp on the small nightstand table at the head of his bed before climbing on, leaning your back against the wall. You held his now ruined shirt against your face as you watched Sanji dig around in his trunk before pulling out and slipping on another t-shirt.
You couldn't help the involuntary sigh of disappointment that aroused from you watched him put the shirt over his head, pulling the fabric down to cover the rest of his body.
Sanji glanced over at you curiously, a quirk in his brow as he shut the trunk. "You alright over there?"
Your eyes widened slightly. Shit, you didn't mean to actually make any noise. That sigh was supposed to stay in your head. "I'm just...tired," you lied quickly, but soon after you said that, a genuine yawn escaped your lips.
At your yawn, Sanji smiled slightly at you before crawling into bed with you, sitting next to you on your right, back against the wall, as he put his arm around you and pulled you flush against him, your head resting in the crook of his neck. "I bet you are, my love." His thumb rubbed your arm soothingly. "Go to sleep. I'm here."
At his instruction, you felt exhaustion overcome you, the fear and adrenaline leaving your body as a deep sense of safety and relaxation came over you. Your thoughts became muddled, a bigger yawn leaving your mouth as you let yourself go.
But part of you didn't want this moment to end. Part of you didn't want to drift off into sleep just yet because when you woke up, the moment would be over.
"Sanji..." you mumbled. "How'd you...know all this stuff?"
Sanji rested the side of his head on top of yours. "Know what, sweetheart?" he asked kindly.
"This...doctor chef stuff."
"Well," he hummed quietly. "Zeff and 'em used to have their fair share of busted-up noses and concussions back in the day. All of those pirate fights we had to break up, you know?"
"Oh, right...right," you replied thickly.
That made sense to you and your tired brain. You both stayed quiet for a while, the waves rocking you to sleep instead of scaring you to death. And you had a certain blonde pirate chef doctor to thank for that.
"And Nami? And Luffy? What about Usopp?" you asked after a long time.
Sanji took in a deep breath through his nose, expecting you to already be asleep, but it warmed his heart to hear you still care about the rest of the crew, even though you were clearly exhausted and in no shape to worry about anyone else but yourself given your current condition.
"They're alright, Missus," he answered patiently, lifting his head to press a kiss to the top of your head. "Go to sleep, my love."
"Mmkay," you replied and instantly, you fell asleep, your breathing soft and even as you fell into unconsciousness.
Sanji stayed like that for the rest of the night. Rubbing your arm, planting soft kisses into your hair, and whispering sweet nothings into your ear, hoping his loving words cultivated sweet dreams in your mind.
It wasn't until two hours later that someone disturbed the peaceful bliss. There was a quiet knock on the door before Luffy came in without waiting for an answer.
"Sanji," the Going Merry's captain started as quietly as he could as he strode into the room, not waiting for the chef to invite him in. "Do you know where y/n is? Because she's not in her room- oh," Luffy started to ask before stopping when he saw the site before him.
Now, normally it took a lot for Sanji to become embarrassed, but having his captain see him 'in bed' with a woman- no, with you, made the tip of his ears turn pink and a slight blush appear on his cheeks.
"Uh, Luffy, look, it's not what it looks like-" the cook started quickly and softly, not wanting to wake you up.
But Luffy, ever the innocent and naive person he was, didn't even bat an eye. "Oh! There she is. You were looking after her during this storm." He nodded, a look of satisfaction on his face. "Thank you," the captain bowed his head towards his chef slightly, "You're a good guy Sanji."
Ignoring Sanji's baffled and embarrassed expression, Luffy then quietly whispered a status report to his head chef. "It looks like we're out of the worst of the storm. The Going Merry held strong thanks to Nami's quick navigation and Usopp's bravery with the sails. It looks like it's smooth sailing for now." A look of exhaustion came over the captain's eyes as he let out a small sigh. "I'm going to get some sleep. I'll see you in the morning for breakfast, ok?"
Sanji merely nodded as he watched Luffy turn around and reach for the doorknob.
With his hand on the doorknob, Luffy paused. "Thanks for taking care of her, Sanji." He looked at the blonde cook, gratitude written across his face. "She hates storms."
And with that, the curly-haired captain pulled the door open and left the room, leaving a slightly embarrassed Sanji and a peacefully sleeping you.
As Sanji closed his eyes, resting his head against yours, wrapping both arms around you and bringing you closer, he just thanked his lucky stars and it was their oblivious captain that had caught you both instead of another one of the other straw hats.
If it were anyone else, that conversation would've gone a lot differently.

I wish you would - ZORO'S VER. PART ONE
anonymous asked: i’m a sucker for a opla sanji or zoro x jealous reader đŸƒâ€â™€ïž just the months long pining, banter and flirting, assumptions, miscommunication, the heartbreak upon realizing that what they had was just in their head, THE COLD SHOULDER i love it. give me it all. anything. THERE ISNT ENOUGH. BUT WITH A HAPPY ENDING. thanks pookie ily 😣
this is a different format than y'all are used to, but i find some requests more fun/easier to write this way! so i hope y'all don't mind :)
anytime your ship would dock on an island, without fail you and zoro could be found in the bar that night
the whole crew knew there was something between you two, something no one could ever have assumed zoro was capable of.
the longing stares brought on by your inebriated lack of filter. you never normally giggled that much? did you. the ghosts of smiles that your jokes brought to zoro’s lips. if you blinked you would miss the way the corners of his mouth quirked up, only slightly.
your friends were getting fed up honestly. how long would you two hide being the masquerade of being best friends? not everyone could bring down zoro’s walls without a second thought. no one had ever made you smile as bright as the green haired swordman. kiss already, jeez.
“oye zor, i could totally take you!” there’s a drunken flush over your cheeks, and as you lean towards the man in question, your drink sloshes around in your glass. he turns to you with a quirk of his eyebrow, placing his drink down on the table. there’s a ghost of blush dusting across his face, his brown eyes swimming with emotions your intoxicated mind is unable to decipher.
you swear there’s a twinkle in his eye as he speaks, “i don’t think you could handle me sweetheart.” the pet name lights a fire in your stomach, and paired with the raps in his voice? you can’t help the visible intake of breath. zoro’s eyes fall to your own lips, the air feels thick with want. as quickly as the moment begins, your pulled from it by the slam of a glass on the table.
“jesus guys! get a room.” usopp's voice grabs your attention, snapping you back to the reality where zoro doesn’t reciprocate your feelings.
most nights would end with you getting sad and leaving off to your room to go sulk and sober up. you knew your place, it was zoro’s closest friend. nothing more nothing less.
so when the girls would flirt with him, (how could they not. he was gorgeous.) you would bite your tongue and kick back more beer. you had no claims to his heart, no valid reason for your heart to sting so much when girls drape themselves over him. the only comfort being he never returned their affections.
until one night, he does? a girl flirts with him and he flirts back. the interaction feels like a personal attack, a sword right through the middle of you. the pain in your heart was worse than any wound you’d acquired in battle. you weren’t sure if it would ever go away.
you’re not even close enough to hear the interaction, (which was probably a good thing). zoro had walked off to sit at the bar alone while you’d stayed sitting at the table talking to nami. your eyes always followed him though, and the frown that falls onto your lips when a girl walks up to him is hard to miss.
“y/n?” nami follows your gaze to see a woman standing next to zoro, and he turns to look at her. his body language is nothing like anything she’d ever seen with anyone but you.
you’re left speechless, mouth open in shock. who was she? and why was she worthy of his gaze? why had he never looked at you like that. you feel a hand placed over yours, and turn to see nami looking at you. there’s a sadness in her eyes, a pity that took the knife in your heart and twisted it.
“what’s wrong mademoiselle?” sanji speaks up, looking at you with concern. you can’t meet his eyes, you know he means well of course. even so, the flirt was the last person you wanted pity from.
the rest of your drink is tossed back, the stinging feeling in your mouth nothing in comparison to the heavy weight on your shoulders. with an unhidden urgency, you left the table, your chair behind you making a loud noise as you make your quick exit. with a jealousy you didn't believe you had the right to possess, you stomp out of the bar. you didn't have the stomach to spare the sight another glance, but if you had, you would have seen zoro’s concerned eyes on you.
you didn't leave your room that night, or the next morning. sanji had brought food to your door, it went untouched. nami had come to check on you, but you waved her off.
even when your beloved captain came, you opened the door with a smile and told him you were just tired. the look in his eyes meant you knew he wouldn't accept that excuse for too long.
usopp came to bug you later in the afternoon, he would take the hint rather quickly.
the one person you wished had come to check on you, was the reason you were curled up in bed with a hole where your heart should be. how funny was that.
when the man finally came to knock on your door, you just turned over in bed. zoro was left there to wonder in silence, what had happened to his girl?

love is embarrassing
Anonymous asked: okay okay i just read your sanji imagines and maybe make a part where the roles are reversed? like the reader gets flirted on by someone else and she flirts back and sanji doesn’t understand why he feels jealous all of a sudden? this is part two to this original request, which can be found here: SOUR
thank you for taking the time to read my silly little stories :)
warnings: jealousy, sanji and zoro get into a physical fight

opla! sanji x f! reader
the moon is high in the sky when you return to the going merry that night. theo’s sweet words echoing in your mind, what a charming boy. no matter how great a time you had; he couldn't even hold a candle to your ship’s resident flirt. no one could worm their way into your heart like sanji vinsmoke had.
the resident blonde of the going merry is in a foul mood.
what reason did he have to wake up on the right side of the bed? he’d gone to sleep before you’d even come home last night, and woken up to see you missing from your usual morning reading spot. the eggs made this morning were over whisked and undercooked, and sanji couldn't find room in his brain to truly care.
“good morning sanji,” nami walked into the kitchen with a yawn. she’s covering her mouth as she shuffles towards the island. when she reaches it she leans on her elbows, looking at sanji’s back as he moves about around the stove.
“good morning mademoiselle, how did you sleep?” there was a robotic feeling to his flirting, the redhead frowned at the sound; with a raise of her eyebrow she spoke
“what’s gotten into you?” sanji turned to look at her with a smile, placing a plate with eggs and bacon in front of where she stood leaning on the countertop. he wipes his hands off and stuffs his hands into the pockets of his suit pants.
“nothing gorgeous, i’m quite alright! especially since i have the pleasure of seeing your beautiful face so bright and early.” before nami can push him any further, luffy comes barreling into the kitchen nose first.
“sanji! i knew i smelled something good cooking!! i am starving.” nami is forced to drop the subject as she quickly snatches up her plate before luffy can steal a piece of bacon straight from it.
—
by the time you walk into the kitchen for breakfast, the crew has assembled and luffy is on his third plate of eggs. everyone greets you kindly, except your favorite blonde. the silence from his causes a stinging feeling in your chest, and as you sit down you notice he’s staring intently at the wall opposite of you. ‘why wont he look at you?’
it stings, of course it does! you considered sanji a very good friend of yours, for him to suddenly start ignoring you. you can't deny the pang you felt in your heart. ‘did you do something to upset him?’
"how was your night y/n?" nami turns to look at you, there's a ghost of a smirk on her face. you face lights up like a fire engine, you're looking bashfully down at your plate of eggs when you reply.
"it was nice, he was very sweet."
"i'm glad to hear that, do you have any plans to see him again?" she's leaned her elbows onto the table and placed her chin in her hands. her question is finished off with a wink.
"well actually-" your reply is cut off by an abrupt slamming sound that makes you jump. sanji has slammed his hand onto the table and stood up, his chair making a loud noise as he propels it backwards. he snatches his empty plate off the table, grabbing nami and zoro's as well before stomping over to the sink. he takes the time to light a cigarette and stick it in between his lips before starting to clean the dishes.
the rest of the crew sitting at the table with you are staring at sanji's back with confusion (zoro with frustration) but no matter how piercing your gazes are. he wont turn to meet a single one.
"what's your problem waiter?" zoro speaks up, looking so very over the cook's jealous antics.
"whatever could you mean my friend?" sanji speaks up, plastering a smile that doesn't meet his eyes on as he turns to look at zoro. you subconsciously tilt your head in confusion, and when sanji sees it out of his peripherals he cant help the way his heart swells. you make it impossibly hard to stay mad. you're so naturally adorable.
"you've been in a shit mood ever since we left the bar last night." zoro crosses his arms and leans back in his chair.
"i'm not in any kind of mood. why don't you mind your own mosshead?" sanji's words are practically spit out of his mouth.
"why don't you quit acting like you're not jealous, waiter." sanji turns off the water, forcefully placing down the plate he'd just washed on the drying cloth. he turns around and begins to roll up his sleeves.
"it would be wise of you to shut your stupid mouth, now wouldn't it."
"you think i'm scared of an idiot who can't even tell his best friend he's in love with her?" it feels like your heart has jumped out of your chest and into your throat. before you can even begin to process the words that just left zoro's lips, he's standing up to face sanji as the blonde walks over.
"you don't know shit." and sanji's legs has gone flying up into the air, aiming for zoro's head. the green haired man catches it with his hand and pulls it, knocking sanji off balance.
'holy shit. they're fighting.'
"guys, stop it." nami has stood up from her place at the table, but her words fall on deaf ears. usopp is looking at you sadly, but has to quickly dodge a stray kick from sanji. he stands up and back away from the table.
"woah hey guys, maybe it's time to cool down a little yeah?" the sniper raised his hands next to his head and slowly backs away from the scene.
"guys!" nami's next shout is fractic, zoro had drawn two of his swords and sanji had kicked usopps chair far away. the two men show no sign of stopping, apparently this argument had been building for much longer than you would've known.
you're still frozen in place in your chair as zoro's accusations, sanji's weird behavior towards you this morning starting to make sense. he had feelings for you, and you had left with another guy last night. you only can begin to wonder how heartbroken he must have been, had he stayed up to see if you would come back home to them, to him?
'you felt awful'
you're broken out of your train of thought by a sickening cracking noise, and when you turn sanji is on the floor covering his nose. you can see blood flowing from underneath it, and you jump up in worry.
"sanji!" you rush to his side, kneeing down besides the broken man on the floor and placing a hand on his shoulder. you can hear the sound of a sheathing sword behind you, but your eyes don't leave sanji's. he looks so, defeated. you had never seen his eyes so sad.
he brushes you off without a word, standing up and walking out of the room. there’s a heavy silence in the air, and you slump down on your knees. with tears in your eyes you turn to glare at the swordsman.
“what the fuck zoro.”

LOVE

Anonymous asked: okay okay i just read your sanji imagines and maybe make a part where the roles are reversed? like the reader gets flirted on by someone else and she flirts back and sanji doesn’t understand why he feels jealous all of a sudden? part one and two can be found here: SOUR GUTS
this one goes out to my lovely friend @honnelander <3 i adore you!! thank you for being my biggest supporter<3 you don't know this but you inspired me to begin writing again!! so thank you.
warnings: none!

opla! sanji x f! reader
you were fuming, why wouldn’t you be? zoro had instigated an argument with sanji that turned into a full fledged fight.
and it was about you
there were a million thoughts racing through your head, but the biggest one hurt you the most. you’d upset him? your best friend? how could someone as insignificant as you have the power to upset sanji vinsmoke so deeply? he had women falling at his feet, the gorgeous man. the biggest flirt in all the seas was hung up over, you?
that man that you’d left with last night, he didn't matter to you at all really. he was sweet and funny, but he wasn’t him. would sanji feel a bit lighter if he knew you couldn’t even remember that guy's name? no, that might make it worse, wouldn’t it.
you don’t know where to go from here, sitting on the deck left alone with your thoughts. after the blow up fight in the kitchen, you’d chewed zoro out to hell and back. so much so it even felt like he felt some remorse, but you figured it was a trick of the light. if he had truly cared about the cook’s feelings, he wouldn't have pushed him so far. he wouldn't have exposed him like that, made him so vulnerable without a choice in the matter.
how would you feel if your heart was left so defenseless by someone else’s words? if you had no say in the matter of confessing your feelings?
you take a deep sigh, leaning back onto your hands. your head falls back as you look to the sky. not a cloud in sight, it felt wrong for a sight so beautiful to appear on such a gloomy day.
so deep in thought, you fail to notice the sound of footsteps walking towards you. the man stops silently besides you, hands in his pockets. from one of them he pulls a cigarette, a lighter from the other. still, not a word leaves his lips as he begins to light it, only the sound of the lighter catching your attention. with wide eyes you turn to your right and see sanji, tagging a long drag of his cigarette. he peeks at you out of the corner of his eye.
“hey y/n” his voice was devoid of the usual flirtiness, it sent a pang through your heart.
“hey sanj, how are you doing?” you angle more of your body towards him, speaking softly. the conversation felt so delicate. he blows out the smoke from his cigarette before responding.
“could be better darling, that wasn’t how i wanted you to find out about my feelings.” his words are paired with dry laughter, and he’s avoiding your eyes.
“so it’s true? you’re in love with me?” your hand has come up to grasp your other arm, your eyes finding their way to the ocean as you speak.
“since the moment i laid eyes on you, back on the baratie.” his words sound like a weight being lifted off his shoulders. “you sitting there at the table with the rest of our lovable group- you’d looked scared to order the wine, like was going to rat you out to the marines or something!” he’s laughs, the sound warming your heart.
“i had never sat down at such a fancy restaurant!” you defend yourself with a huff, continuing on exasperatedly, “anyways. that can’t be true, you were just as flirty with nami back then- you couldn’t have liked us both could you?” you turn to face him once again, your eyes frantically searching his own. how could you have missed this, how could everyone in the world have known but you?
“something about you, it just stuck with me. i don’t know how to explain it y/n, but ever since you came into my life, i haven’t gone a day without thinking of you.” he takes a moment to take another drag, the smoke falling from his mouth as he continues on. “all those other girls, they never really meant anything. i was just hoping to be distracted from you, though it never worked. no matter who i talked to, it was always you who held my heart captive.” there’s a bitter sweet tone to his words, yet they’re elegant and thoughtful all the same.
“sanji, i- don't really know what to say. i can’t believe i didnt notice-” you’re scrambling to find the right words when he cuts you off with a smile.
“no-no it’s fine, you don’t have to return my feelings or anything love.” he dropped the cigarette, leaning towards you slowly. it’s like he’s giving you the chance to pull away. when you don’t he gets closer, bringing his hand to rest softly on your cheek. the light touch causes a burning blush, and you smile softly at the man sitting in front of you so bravely. “i just wanted you to hear it from my lips. i love you, y/n.”
you want to say more, but when you open your mouth he shakes his head softly, and you close it. there are a million combinations of words, yet no one feels right at this moment. with the way sanji is looking at you, it feels right to stay quiet. to sit in the silence, next to a man that loves you with his whole heart.
and when you close your eyes, leaning into his soft gentle touch, a smile graces your lips, only one thought on your mind.
‘i think i could begin to love you too.’

Anonymous asked: I have a request đŸ€ can you write a fic/blurb/imagine (your choice!) where reader surprises sanji with a meal or dish they made for his birthday or something?? bc they wanted to surprise him and how he would react? (reader is a terrible cook 😂)

opla! sanji x g/n! reader
there’s frosting smeared onto your nose somehow, it should be impossible considering you didn't even have a cake to frost yet. the chef’s beloved kitchen is in disarray, utensils scattered about and various powders and liquids covering the counter. you’re trying your absolute best to craft sanji a birthday cake, managing to stay up long enough for everyone else to fall asleep. in the dark of the night you began your plan.
had you ever baked before today? well.. no? but it couldn’t be so hard now could it. you knew better than to attempt anything too extravagant, purchasing a box cake mix from the last island your ship had docked at. the box of triple chocolate cake mix now taunting you from the garbage can you had tossed it into. why wouldn’t your cake bake?
3 eggs? check! you’d added the water- hadn’t you? and you definitely added the oil, so what was wrong? had you not beat the batter well enough? what does vigorously even mean!
you cant help the frustrated grumbling as you pull the pan out of the oven yet again, placing it onto the counter with a clunk. you aggressively pull of your oven mitts, tossing them to the side. unbeknownst to you, your attempts at a surprise had failed. sanji had woken up to the sound of you dropping an egg on the ground and loudly saying “SHIT!” curious to what was happening and if you were safe, the blond had made his way to the kitchen.
the sight he’s met with brings an adoring smile to his lips, as he leaned onto the doorway of the kitchen to watch. the confusion etched on your face was nothing short of endearing, and the pout you were sporting had a vice grip on his heart. his eyes scan the kitchen in hopes of offering you any advice, when they land on the oven he can’t help the laugh that falls from his lips. at the sound you raise your head, eyes wide as he shakes his head with that same loving smile.
“my love, what’s got you up in the middle of the night like this?”
“sanji! you weren’t supposed to be awake!” there’s a frown on your face as you look at him. you make no attempt to hide your plan, the bright colored birthday candles out in plain sight. with a defeated sigh you motion to the table in front of you. “i wanted to surprise you for your birthday”
“all this trouble just for me darling?” he walks towards you, a smile so bright anyone would think he’d just got the best news of his life. when he reaches you his arms wrap around you in a hug, holding you close as he leans down to kiss your cheek. “you’re too cute y/n, what a lucky man i am.” his words and affection warm your heart, a giggle falling from your lips as you wrap your arms around his torso to hug him back.
“i love you sanj,” you nuzzle your head closer into his chest. the sound of his heartbeat does wonders to ease your tension.
after another squeeze he pulls away from you, turning to look at the counter. he takes a moment before picking up the pan and placing it back into the oven. you look at him with a tilt of your head, and he winks, pressing a button on the stovetop and the oven roars to life.
“i love you more sweetheart, even if you forgot to turn on the oven.” it feels like your whole body lights on fire, and with a level of shame you didn’t know was possible, you screech.
“I WHAT?”

It really shouldn’t bother you...but it did. You couldn’t help yourself. Sanji wasn’t even yours, he never would be, and yet...you couldn’t help the wave of jealousy and annoyance that crashed over you every time he would be a little too friendly with other women. (At least, too friendly by your standards and, of course, you thought your standards were pretty reasonable.)
But Sanji wasn’t even yours (he never would be). You weren’t his wife or his girlfriend, hell, you were only just crewmates to each other, so there really should be no reason why you felt as angry and jealous as you did.
That still didn’t stop you, however. In fact, it just enraged you even more and you didn’t know why.
It was just a stupid crush you had on him, right? So why did it bother you so much when he would cast that perfect smile of his towards someone else? When he would wink at another woman and say some suave innuendo that he would never say to you? Or even touch their shoulders or give a hug to someone else when he’s never even touched or grazed your arm or shoulder by accident before?
“If you stare any harder at that glass, it’s going to shatter from all the daggers you’re giving it.”
You blinked, looking up from the drink in your hand and to the left, only to see an ever calm and nonchalant Zoro take a swing of his beer, keeping his gaze towards the bustling nightclub/bar you all were currently visiting.
It’d been a couple of weeks of straight sailing on the open ocean and everyone on board was going a little stir crazy, even the ever-happy-go-lucky Luffy. So, when the Going Merry’s captain had smelled a whiff of food in the air midafternoon up on the masthead that wasn’t Sanji’s doing, everyone had collectively decided to follow Luffy’s nose and see what lied ahead.
After a half hour of sailing, you all had stumbled across another ship-like restaurant that, admittedly, even looked better than the Baratie. So, it was an easy decision for the crew to decide to dock there for a couple of hours and give Sanji the night off from making dinner, much to the chef’s annoyance.
But it had all turned out to be the right decision in the end, apparently, since Sanji had made a point to visit the kitchen and give his compliments to the chef.
Now, all of the straw hats had made it to the outdoor bar area to ‘drink the night away’, as Usopp had so jovially put it, and you’ve been here ever since.
“Ha ha,” you deadpanned, looking back at the nearly full drink you had in your hand. “Very funny Zoro. You know, you should quit piracy and be a standup comedian.”
Your green-haired crewmate turned his face to you with an unamused expression. “You’ve been nursing that drink all night.” He arched an eyebrow. “You ok?”
At that question, your eyes immediately went to Sanji, who had been at the bar for a majority of the evening, chatting with the bartender but, of course, as if on cue, another gorgeous girl slinked right up to him, batting her eyelashes and ever so casually rested her hand on his bicep, sliding it all the way down to his forearm as she giggled at something the chef said.
Sanji, on the other hand, flashed the new woman, the tenth this evening at least, you thought sourly, one of his dazzling white smiles, leaning forward slightly as if he was telling her some sort of inside joke, causing her to laugh louder and place her other hand on top of his. Sanji’s smile only grew wider.
You couldn’t help the stab of pain your heart felt at the sight.
“Never better,” you replied to Zoro bitterly as you quickly downed your drink.
His gaze didn’t budge. “You don’t look fine.”
“Yeah, thanks for pointing that out Captain Obvious,” you quipped sarcastically under your breath, stealing another glance at the object of your affections. He was still chatting with that other woman, and you couldn’t help letting out a small breath as you felt the familiar sting of jealously deep within your chest.
God, it hurt. It hurt so goddamn badly, and you didn’t know why.
Zoro followed your line of sight and when he saw the Going Merry’s cook at the end of it, he hummed to himself, hiding his sly smirk behind his beer as he looked back at you. “Sounds like you need another drink then.”
“I guess so,” you sighed, sitting up and leaning over to grab the bottle of liquor that sat in the middle of your small table to refill your glass when Zoro stopped you.
“Nuh-uh,” the green-haired swordsman said as he put the heel of his boot on the table to block off your reaching hand. “If you want a refill, then you have to go to the bar,” he explained, nodding his head towards the bar, and, coincidently, Sanji. “This bottle is mine.”
“What?? Aw come on Zoro,” you whined. “I don’t want to go over there.”
“Oh? Any particular reason why not?”
It must’ve been the liquor, because you could’ve sworn you heard a knowing tone laced in his voice but when you looked at your friend, he looked as nonchalant as ever. Maybe you were imagining things.
“No,” you lied, your cheeks heating up slightly.
“Good,” Zoro said, taking a long swing of his beer, finishing it up and slamming the empty bottle on the glass tabletop lightly. “Then when you’re up there, get me another beer.” You opened your mouth to protest again but Zoro spoke before you could. “Since, you said there’s no problem.”
Shit. You were backed into a corner. And the only way out was to go up to the bar and be face-to-face with Sanji.
You looked back towards the crowded bar and felt another wave of emotion come over you. But these feelings were hard to discern. The pair was still talking at the bar, the woman still being a little too touchy towards him for your taste. You sighed slightly. Maybe when you got over there, he would just ignore you, since he was so engrossed in conversation it seemed. Part of you didn’t know if you wanted that wish to come true or not.
“Alright- fuck it, whatever,” you grumbled as you snatched your empty glass and made your way to the bar, leaving a smug Zoro alone.
As you made your way across the small dance floor and towards the bar, you felt your heart fill with dread with every step you took. You prayed to whatever God was out there that Sanji didn’t notice you but, of course, when you neared the bar, you noticed that the only open spot was behind him.
How fucking perfect.
“One beer and a refill please,” you quickly ordered, handing over your empty glass to the bartender.
“Y/n?”
Your heart clenched at hearing Sanji’s voice. Why did you think, for even a moment, that Sanji would ever ignore you? The man seemed to always notice you no matter what, even when no one else did, so why would he ignore you now?
But you couldn’t look at him. “Oh, hey,” you quickly greeted.
Sanji, however, didn’t miss a beat. “I didn’t think you were a big drinker,” he commented curiously, turning his body fully to face you, leaning against the bar, and unintentionally removing the woman’s grip on his arm.
“I’m not,” you answered, casting a quick glance up at him.
The blonde chef blinked in confusion, his brows pulled together slightly, but before he could question you further, his ‘date’ for the evening quickly made her presence known.
“Sanji?” the woman called out sweetly, stepping to the cook’s right, placing her hand on his right bicep and the other on his shoulder as she looked up at him with a coy smile. When she looked down at you, however, you could see the look in her eye that was anything but sweet. “Who is this? I didn’t know you had a girlfriend,” she commented, tilting her head in fake misunderstanding.
Immediately, both you and Sanji straightened up, shaking your heads quickly.
“No, no, she’s not my girlfriend-”
“He’s not my boyfriend,” you both denied simultaneously.
You quickly looked away from them, hoping to hide the rush of embarrassment that crashed over you and, to be honest, the sting of his quick rejection. It was just another reminder, you thought bitterly, that even though Sanji always acted like a complete gentleman towards you, you weren’t his girlfriend. He was just being nice, like always, and he would never like you how you liked him.
You looked down at your hands, quiet for a moment as you knocked a knuckle against the bar top. “No,” you said after a beat. “We’re not dating.”
The woman blinked, clearly unfazed by your admission, like she expected nothing less. She still had a fake look of curiosity on her pretty face. “Oh, right! Of course not,” she laughed slightly, in a way that made you feel small. “You must be one of the straw-caps then, right?”
“It’s straw-hats, actually,” you bit back, straightening up and turning to face this jerk of a woman, chin up high, sending her what you hoped was one of your meanest stares. This girl could be mean to you all day if she wanted to, you didn’t care, but you’d rather drop dead than to ever let her bad mouth Luffy and the wonderful pirate crew he put together. “And yes, I am one of them. I’m a pirate,” you stated proudly.
Sanji must’ve been drunk or stupid, because he didn’t seem to pick up on this girl’s bad energy. “Don’t you remember, darling,” he started, sending the girl a small smile, “I was telling you about my crewmates?”
“OH right!” She hit her head in an exaggerated manner. “I remember now, pookie. You said there were two girls on your crew, an orange-haired map girl and another one...” she trailed off, tapping her pointer finger on her chin like she was deep in thought. “Oh!” she exclaimed brightly and looked down at you, her smile sweet as candy but her words as sharp as a razor. “You must be the potato girl!”
Whatever air of pseudo-confidence you had was immediately snuffed, her words quickly cutting you down to size. “The- the what?”
“Yeah, don’t you like potatoes or something?” she laughed, acting like it was the stupidest thing she’d ever heard.
And to her credit? It definitely sounded stupid if you didn’t know the context behind the story. You swallowed the lump in your throat, trying to fight the urge to either cry or deck this girl in the jaw over her making fun of such a special moment between you and Sanji.
You opened your mouth, ready to shut her shit down when she beat you to it. The next words out of her mouth immediately sucked the air out of your lungs.
“Or is just because you look like a potato?” she asked, laughing her about ass off as she lightly hit Sanji in the chest, keeping her hand there, expecting him to laugh along with her but Sanji just stiffened at her side.
You, however, were too busy keeping your breathing under control and trying your hardest not to cry to notice Sanji’s reaction, or lack of. You could feel red hot shame bloom across your chest, the heat crawling up your neck and flushing your face as you looked down at the floor.
Normally, another girl calling you ugly would sting, sure, but not cause you to literally break down in tears on the spot. So why now? Deep down, though, you knew exactly why. It was because of Sanji. She had literally called you ugly in front of Sanji, the person you had a major forbidden crush on, and what if Sanji just laughed along and agreed with her? You didn’t know if you’d be able to handle it. If he did, you would have to quit the straw hats because there was no way you could ever look at him again.
Not wanting to wait and see what his reaction would be, you started shaking your head, ready to mutter up some lame excuse to get the hell out of there when you felt an arm snake around your waist and a warm body press against your side, pulling you against them.
“Now, Madam, I don’t think those are the right words to describe the most beautiful woman in all of the four seas now, is it?” a deep, familiar accented voice asked from above you.
Your breath hitched in your throat as you whipped your head up towards the voice with wide eyes, only to see the ever-beautiful Sanji look down at you with a small, soft smile, his eyes full of wonder and another emotion you couldn’t decipher, as you felt his thumb rub small, comforting circles on your right hip.
His look and touch sent shivers down your spine, and you couldn’t tell if he was acting or not. Your heart hammered in your ribcage as you searched his eyes for a lie, but all you could find was the truth, strong and unwavering, staring right back at you.
“I said: is it?” Sanji repeated himself, tearing his eyes away from you, looking straight on at this awful woman with his eyebrows raised slightly, like he was daring her to say something else.
Clearly not expecting Sanji to rebuke her as blatantly as he did, the woman started sputtering. “Well, I- I didn’t mean it like that, Sanji-bear, really-”
The blonde man raised his left hand in the air, immediately silencing her. “Yeah, I gotta be honest- I highly doubt that, sweetheart.”
At his condescending tone, you saw the woman bristle and nearly foam at the mouth, her eyes nearly popping out of their sockets. She huffed, looking back and forth between you both for a moment before scoffing and shaking her head in disbelief, saying, “I knew it. I fucking knew it.” She looked Sanji dead in the eyes, glancing at you, her eyes filled with hatred, before taking a step closer to Sanji, filling in the gap between them, as she whispered something into his left ear before stalking off and leaving the bar without another glance.
You quickly looked up at Sanji as she was whispering into his ear, confusion apparent in all of your features. Whatever she said to him, you couldn’t hear since they were both taller than you and the woman wore the highest heels you’ve ever seen, but whatever words she had spoken had left the chef completely stunned because you felt his body become rigid, the comforting circles his thumb was rubbing on your hip stopped, and you saw the muscles on his face freeze as he kept his stare straight ahead.
“Sanji?” you call hesitantly, instantly forgetting your own muddled emotions as you looked up to your heart’s desire. “Are you ok?”
At the sound of your voice, you felt him relax. He let out a little laugh (it sounded fake to you), as he looked down at you with a smile that didn’t reach his eyes. “Of, of course. I am.” But as quickly as he looked at you, his attention was stolen by the bartender placing your order on the bar in front of you. “Thanks, man,” he called out, removing his arm from around you and stepping away to grab your drink order.
Instantly, you missed the warmth he provided. You felt cold all of a sudden.
You shook your head once, clearing your head of those thoughts. Now wasn’t the time to analyze things like that. “Sanji-”
“How are you feeling?” he asked with his back facing you, beating you to the punch. When he turned to face you, drinks in hand, any trace of inner turmoil was gone. His eyes, instead, showed concern for you. “You know you’re beautiful, right?” he asked softly, his eyes scanning your face before looking back into your eyes.
The look in his eyes nearly took your breath away. For a moment, you had completely forgotten what he was referring to. “Uh, w-what?”
He must’ve mistaken your confusion for disbelief because his next action nearly stopped your heart. “Oh, my love,” he started softly, a small smile tugging on the corner of his lips. He placed the drinks on the bar, freeing up his hands, and placed them on either side of your head, along your jawline, as his thumb rubbed your cheek soothingly, his fingers gently entangled in your hair. Sanji gently tilted your head upwards, so your eyes connected with his, and the look on his face was filled with such tenderness and radiated a warmth that touched your soul. His gorgeous, tanned face filled your entire field of view, and you could feel his minty breath fan your face.
When the hell did he get so close?
You felt your cheeks heating up at the proximity, your eyes tried to look at anything but his crystal-clear blue ones. Your brain was sure to short circuit if you didn’t get ahold of yourself. You were going to do something incredibly stupid if you didn’t get space immediately. “San-”
“Y/n,” he said, his tone soft yet commanding. “Look at me, love.”
Your heart rate skyrocketed and you felt your breathing quicken. God, you could feel yourself getting a panic attack and you didn’t even understand why. There was nothing more you’d rather do more than look at Sanji but you didn’t know if you had the strength to do it.
You placed your hands on top of his wrists, fully intending to peel him off and push him away, mumbling, “Sanji, I can’t-”
“Please.”
In an instant, you looked into his eyes and what you saw nearly made your heart stop. His gaze was so intense, so piercing, his blue eyes seemed like they were staring directly into your heart and soul. Could he feel your rapid pulse through his fingertips?
When you locked eyes with him, you saw his soft smile grow. “You, y/n, are the most gorgeous woman to ever sail the four seas. You are the most beautiful woman in the world, I promise you that.”
With each word out of Sanji’s mouth, you could feel your heart breaking and it was dawning on you as to why.
But Sanji continued, his eyes sparkling. “And I'll be damned if I’d ever let that horrible woman make you feel otherwise. Alright, Missus?”
At the nickname, you let out a shaky breath and quickly blinked back tears. It was right then you knew, you knew it from the depth of your soul, just like you knew for certain that the sky was blue and the earth was round: you loved Sanji. You didn’t just have a crush on him anymore, but you were completely head over heels in love with him.
You swallowed the lump in your throat, which might’ve been your heart, because you realized that even though you loved him, you could never have him. He was your crewmate, your friend, another one of the straw hats. He was someone that you promised yourself you would never cross “the line” for. Who you vowed to yourself that you wouldn’t risk anything for feelings-wise because you didn’t want the rest of the crew to suffer if you both didn’t work out.
But despite all of that, it didn’t make the truth any easier to swallow because now you were stuck. You were stuck with your stupid feelings and all it did was want to make you cry. You should’ve been happy right now at this sudden realization but no, instead all you wanted to do was go hole up in your room and sob.
And besides, Sanji would never return your feelings anyway.
“Y/n?” Sanji repeated, a hint of worry laced in his tone the longer you kept staring at him unblinking.
You quickly blinked, unable to stop a few tears from escaping your eyes, but managed to hold back the rest. You tried your best to fake a smile for him, but you could feel your lips quivering. “Sanji,” you breathed but quickly cleared your throat. “That, that was beautiful.” You looked at him in the eyes. “Thank you.”
At your thanks, Sanji’s whole face lit up and he winked. “Ah, anything for the Missus.”
The blonde cook didn’t make an effort to move, however. He kept his hands on your face and with each stroke of his thumb you felt tingles shoot down into your stomach (and to other inappropriate places), and felt goosebumps erupt across your skin.
You had to get out of here.
Carefully, you squeezed his wrists and slid your hands over his, gently prying them away from you, pulling them down and giving them one last quick squeeze in appreciation before dropping them. “Thank you, Sanji,” you repeated softly. You looked towards the bar, at the two forgotten drinks placed there, because you just couldn’t look at Sanji right now. “I, uh, should go bring these over to Zoro.”
“Of- of course. Right. Mosshead is probably quite pissed off at us but, ah, who cares what he thinks.” Ever the gentleman, Sanji went to reach for them. “Here, let me help you-”
“No!” you quickly intervened, grabbing them like it was a pot of gold. “No, no. I got it. Don’t worry about it. You should, uh, stay here and keep talking to the bartender. I think he was looking for you,” you lied and without waiting for his response, took the drinks off the bar, leaving a crestfallen Sanji standing there, watching you walk to Zoro and then, promptly, out of the nightclub altogether.
As you walked over to your green-haired friend, your legs felt like rubber and that you would collapse at a moment’s notice from the sheer weight of your thoughts. You, however, were so far gone that you completely missed Zoro’s Chesire cat grin.
“You and the waiter seemed pretty cozy over there, huh?” Zoro jabbed, his arms resting on top of the seat cushions and knees spread out like he had no care in the world. “I thought you guys were going to kiss or something for a minute there, but instead-”
“Shut the fuck up, Zoro,” you practically growled at him as you put his beer and your glass on the glass tabletop with much more force than necessary.
The swordsman lifted his hands slightly along with his eyebrows. “Whoa, hey now no need to-”
Instead of taking your seat back and sitting back down, you started walking past him and towards the exit without waiting for his response. “I’m heading back to the ship.”
As Zoro watched you leave, a clearly drunk Usopp slid in right next to him, gnawing on a toothpick, watching you as well. “Daaamn, Zoro,” the slingshot shooter drawled loudly, leaning against his crewmate and completely disregarding the other man’s personal space. “Did you see Sanji and y/n? I thought they were going to- pft, start making out or something!” Usopp exclaimed as he waved his hands in the air, mimicking an explosion and two people kissing. “Do you think they know they like each other?”
Zoro hummed, watching your retreating form and then looking towards the dejected waiter, who looked like a kicked puppy. “I don’t know Usopp,” he replied, leaning forward to grab his beer and take a swing. “But if they don’t tell each other soon I’m going to lose my goddamn mind.”
“Yeahhh,” Usopp agreed, sliding his sunglasses down the bridge of his nose to look at the swordsman better. “You said it- oh! Is this drink taken?” he asked, not waiting for Zoro’s response before taking the beverage and sipping on its straw.
Zoro shook his head with a small smile. Sometimes his friends were too predictable for their own good. He just hoped that you and Sanji would start being predictable soon so you two could finally be together and put everyone out of their misery.

Delicate
you're all wanted criminals. the pirates of the straw hat crew are world renowned. it's not often you can find companionship in someone from the outside. people want your fame, your money, to use you. and yet with him-
opla zoro! x g/n! reader
is it cool that i said all that?
your cheeks burn red with the buzz that had been building all night. sharing sake with zoro by a fire does wonder's to foster your ever growing love. it had been building since the day you met him.
with another swig, you giggle loudly at the joke that falls from his lips. it shouldn't have been so funny, and yet you're throwing your head back and knocking your first against his shoulder. your laughter echoes so loudly, anyone would think he's the best comedian around. the alcohol sloshes around in your bottle as your smile lights up the night, glowing brighter than the flames flickering before your eyes.
“you’re so funny zor.” the way you lean into him feels more intimate than the words leaving your lips, the twinkle of the moon in your eyes shining like a promise you shouldn’t be making. the smirk that graces his pretty lips causes a squeezing feeling in your chest. “i should just keep you around all the time, having a personal comedian might be nice.” there’s a lilt to your words that sounds like a love song, and you’ve convinced yourself the way his cheeks flush is from the bottle in his hands.
is it too soon to do this yet?
he leans forward silently, his hand coming up to rest on the back of your neck. there's a sharp intake of breath from you as he pulls you towards him. inches turn to centimeters as you stare into his eyes, the expensive bottle falling with a thump to the ground. in a few short moments you went from sitting side by side with him on the log, to being so close you swear he can hear your heart beating out of your chest. your hands come to rest on his chest as your foreheads meet. there's a soft sigh as he closes his eyes and lightly squeezes the back of your neck.
'cause i know that it's delicate.
when your eyes finally fall shut, he’s pulling away and standing up. as quickly as the moment began its over.
he’s stretching with a yawn as he speaks up. “goodnight y/n.”
before he walks off he turns to you, the ghost of a smile gracing his lips as he reaches down to pick up the bottle you had dropped. a thousand feelings swimming in his eyes, but you know better than to pry. you stand up as well and he turns his back to you with a small wave. placing his hand into his pocket he walks off silently.
the air is thick with unspoken feelings, your heart heavy with hurt. even so, you can't be upset with him. you're willing to play this back and forth game for a little while longer, he's too important to lose.
isn't it?
