Somewhere Different
Tumblr media
Random writing experiment, inspired by my holiday in Rhodes, Greece
This was my first week in Greece. So far, everything has been great. But getting to the Acropolis was tricky.
‘Nope, not that way. Maybe I should turn back and go the other way. But..that leads to a dead end.’ I thought to myself
I pulled a few people up to ask for directions, but nobody seemed to understand me.
But, no biggy. I’m here now.
I look at the ruins, snapping a picture or two on my phone for memories. A once in a lifetime visit for me, such a rare occasion.
I edited the pictures for better light and colour, wanting to post them on Instagram so my friends and family could see.
But the app wasn’t loading. I tried again, and again. Still nothing.
‘It doesn’t matter’ I thought to myself. ‘I can do without the internet for a while longer.’
My gaze meets the ruins once again. But, the ruins aren’t there anymore. The acropolis looks newly built. What happened?
I look around me, feeling the breeze touch me. Even though the heat was cooling down by now, I felt constricted. I felt hot. Nobody was walking around. Where had everyone gone?
What was happening?
My back was to the acropolis now. I was in shock, trying to figure out what had happened. Mentally retracing my steps to see if I might have walked somewhere else.
Then I hear someone speak behind me..
“τι κάνεις?”

The Hangover
Tumblr media
Characters: The company + reader
Reader has a hangover after a night of drinking with the dwarves. (Written because I currently have a hangover).
You joined the breakfast table, eyes still half closed with fatigue. You had woken up to feeling lightheaded and sluggish. It was like your belly was full of wind.
“You feeling alright, lass/laddy?” Balin asked.
“Yeah, you look terrible Y/N.” Kili added, ripping off a piece of brown bread.
“I feel like I’ve just finished a battle with a pack of orcs.” You compared your symptoms.
“That would be a hangover.” Bofur stated, taking some sausages and putting them on his plate.
You wondered to yourself how the dwarves wasn’t hungover like you. Either they were used to the alcohol consumption, or they naturally had stomachs of steel.
“Here, get some food down you.” Dwalin said in a gruff voice, placing some sausages and bread on your plate. To add to it, you decided on a slice of cheese.
Everyone was talking casually as they ate, some were laughing. Thorin was the more serious one at the table, he settled for a simple bowl of frumenty with a piece of brown bread to fill up on.
You managed to eat your breakfast, filling the empty, rumbling hole in your stomach. You also chugged some water, hydrating yourself and preventing a dry, sore throat. You sipped on the second round of water.
You couldn’t help but let out a smile when Bofur realised he put one too many sausages on his plate.
“Bombur!” He threw the sausage to the fat dwarf, who caught it in his hand and ate it instantly.
“I think I’ll go and get some more sleep.” You announced, rising from your seat, taking your water with you.
“Best to sleep it off. You’ll feel better.” Balin said with an understanding nod and smile.
You nodded, “I’ll see you all later when I wake up.”
You then proceeded to your bed, sleeping off the horrible feeling you had.

What is Anxiety like?
Tumblr media
- I have an anxiety disorder, diagnosed by professionals and medicated. Anxiety is not just ‘feeling nervous’.
- Everyone has a bit of anxiety, and it’s normal. But it becomes a problem when every waking moment is filled with fear, paranoia, and overthinking.
- My head is constantly filled with what if scenarios. I plan every situation in my head, what I’m going to say and do, I repeat this to myself constantly. I prepare for said situation, but it never happens.
- some people think that not making eye contact or playing with your hair or touching your neck means you’re lying. To me, I’m not lying when I do that. I’m anxious and my hands are restless. I don’t make eye contact because i dont want to feel more intimidated than I already do.
- Many times I thought I was loosing my mind.
- I dont know if what I’m thinking is paranoia or gut feeling. I cant tell the difference.
- makes it difficult to keep romantic relationships. ‘What if they cheat on me?’ ‘What if they leave me?’ ‘What if someone better comes along?’
- ears and face become hot when it gets to a bad point. Body becoming numb almost tingly and heavy, like you cant move and you’re stuck in one spot
- feeling like you’re going to die or have a heart attack
- crying when faced with confrontation because you cant handle it
- feeling tearful in general over anything
- what’s the best way to describe anxiety? To me, it feels like I’m trapped in a pitch black room, with no windows or doors.

Hey can I have a new Naruto and a Harry Potter matchup please? I’m a straight female, brunette, 5’6 with green eyes. Capricorn. I’m a picky eater, but enjoy the food I do eat.
I push hurtful and negative memories to the back of my mind, and I feel upset when they’re brought up again. I don’t trust others easily, but I give others a chance without judgment. . I can appear conceited to those that don’t know me. I’m quite anxious, and will worry about anything and everything.
I’m loyal and dislike cheaters and liars. I’m 19, but I prefer men a few years older than me over those my own age.
I hold those that I care about and love dear to me. I see them as precious, and I never want to loose them. @thefandom02
Naruto: Iruka! I matched you with Choji last time but with this new information, I think Iruka suits you a bit better. Iruka is one of the gentler characters in Naruto. He’s essentially a primary school teacher, which means that he’s sympathetic, empathetic, understanding, and I feel like he’d be one of the first people to see through what others think of you. He’d be one of the first people to truly see you and to know that there’s so much more to you than meets the eye. He’s good at soothing fears and anxieties and he’s observational so he’d pick up on all your little tells that speak of your rising anxiety. He’d speak it away with a logical but kind comment, his warm hand gripping yours and an understanding smile on his face. You’re picky with food but Iruka will eat anything even vaguely edible, so when you go to Ichiraku, he’ll order something which has things you like and things he likes, and you share it: you eat the bits you like and he eats everything else! It’s an equally matched relationship with hardships you battle through together.
HP: Remus! Is a lot like Iruka which is why I matched you with him. Remus is a very kind, gentle soul. He’s been through hell, I’d argue, and he carries so much of it with him. He would think himself too old, too ugly, too poor, etc. etc. to be with you and I feel like you’d heal each other’s old wounds and calm one another’s anxieties; you have the same amount for different reasons, I think. Remus would be able to smell the differing emotions on you: you appear to be conceited but his sensitive nose can pick up on the pain; and he’d know the first appearance to be as deceiving as it is in anyone else. He’d be himself, though a more withdrawn version, and you would open up slowly to each other until you’re as close knit as two peas in a pod. As a teacher, he’d make sure that you always had food you wanted to eat at the staff’s table (to not make it seem as though I condone teacher/student relationships I’m making you a teacher or, at the very least, an assistant at Hogwarts). You’d look after each other, certainly.

“Do you think this is a good idea, sire?” Oropher’s advisor asked, walking with Oropher to his study. “Why wouldn’t it?” Oropher furrowed his brow, not understanding why an engagement ball would be such a horrible idea. “Prince Thranduil doesn’t like balls, so he’d know something is being plotted when suddenly there’s a ball going on in the Greenwood,” His advisor explained with a nervous smile.
“Why wouldn’t I throw a ball for my son, he’s returning tonight from Imladris… And if he so happens to meet a woman he’d like to marry, then it would be a great fit for the evening,” Oropher glared, daring his Advisor to go against his plan. “Yes, your majesty.”
Sweeping the floor you sighed, it seemed like everytime you got it perfectly spotless, your sisters were there to dirty up the floor with their dusty heels.
Wiping the sweat off your brow, you let out a deep sigh as you stared out the window. The castle was gleaming under the sunlight, sparkling light starlight. A loud knock interrupted your daydreaming as you stood up straight, brushing off your skirt. “Coming,” You called, wincing when you heard your sister try to hit another high note in her ‘music’ lesson.
Opening the door, you jumped when you saw a royal guard. “A letter to the family, an invitation from King Oropher,” He bowed slightly, handing you the letter before nodding his head at you and leaving, his armor clinking as he walked down the steps. “A letter?” You spoke to yourself, placing the broom against the wall as you grabbed a letter opener from the desk. Ripping open the letter, you stared at the beautiful handwriting before processing the words.
‘Dear Citizens of Greenwood,
My son is coming of age, and he needs to find a woman to marry and give him an heir. All women eligible are invited to the Royal Banquet Hall to have an opportunity to meet the prince. Royalty or not, all are invited to welcome my son home with his engagement
Yours,
King Oropher’
Hope filled your chest as you realized one thing. You could go to the ball and meet the prince. Smiling, you read the letter once more before wincing, another high note piercing your eardrum. Wiggling your finger in your ear, you tried to soothe your eardrum while climbing up the steps.
“Stepmother,” you called, knocking lightly on the door. “You may enter,” She responded, the music halting as you entered the room. “A letter, from King Oropher.” You told, holding the letter out to her. Before she could grasp it, your stepsister grabbed it first. Her green dress flew wildly around her as she scanned the letter, her eyes widening with each word.
Smiling so wide her gums showed, she let out a high pitched squeal. “King Oropher is hosting an engagement ball! All females in the woodland realm are supposed to attend!” She squealed, shaking the letter rapidly in her excitement.
“That means I get to go as well,” You stated, raising your eyes to your stepmother’s gaze. “After all, all female women are supposed to attend, king’s orders.” You convinced, looking down at the king’s signature.
“You are correct… Very well, you may go, if you get all your chores done on time and you find something better to wear,” She bargained, a mischievous twinkle in her eye.
“Of course!” You agreed, hope filling you again, “Thank you, stepmother,” You bowed slightly, taking your broom out the door with you.
“MOTHER!” Your stepsisters screeched, rage filling them that she allowed you, a housemaid, to join them. “She’d embarrass us! She has no manners, doesn’t know how to speak in front of people properly, she doesn’t even know how to dance!” One of them raged while your stepmother held up her hand,
“I said, if, my dears.” She grinned wickedly at the door.
Wiping your forehead, you scrubbed another pair of stained dress skirts. How those two got into so many messes, you didn’t know, but you were beginning to think this was happening on purpose.
Your chores had doubled during the day, leaving you no time to sew your gown together, and you knew you wouldn’t finish in time. Throwing another wet dress skirt to the drying rack, you fixed your hair back up in its bun.
Going to your room, you redid your hair into a long braid before putting on a light blue gown, flowing around your form you smiled at your appearance. Moving to grab your mother’s earrings, you were about to place them in your ears but then-
“(Y/n)!” Your stepmother called from her bedroom. “Coming, stepmother,” You called, huffing the one stray hair out of your face.
Climbing the stairs again, you felt your thighs burn as you pushed her door open once more. “What can I help you with, stepmother?” You questioned, taking deep breaths as she put on her pearl earrings. “Here is a list of all that you need to do,” She spoke firm, handing you a piece of parchment. “This is all things you’ve never had me do before,” You questioned, confusion filling you as she stared you up and down. “And, don’t forget to get the cinders out of the fireplace.” Your eyes widened, “But that will take too much time–” You began to argue as she laughed, “And I told you, if you finished your chores, all of them, you could go to the ball. Seems like you can’t.” She said smugly before pushing past you.
“Come girls, we have a ball to attend!” She announced with wide arms and a grin as your stepsisters giggled wickedly at you before leaving behind her.
Frustrated tears built in your eyes as you ripped off your dress, not noticing the rip made from the sleeve, and putting your cleaning dress back on, storming down the stairs to the kitchen fireplace.
“Why?” You spoke out loud. Why did your mother have to die long ago, why did your father have to remarry a wicked woman with two wicked children, why was every ounce of happiness you could’ve had ripped from your grasp just before you had it?
A glow of light appeared behind you from the moonlight, a glowing woman staring at you from next to the sink.
“What troubles you, my starlight?” Your mother questions, a sad frown on her face as you whipped your head back to look at her. “Mother?!” You screeched, dropping the cinders all over the floor causing you to curse before trying to clean it up. “None of that anymore,” She commanded softly, waving her hand as the cinders slowly disappeared, the floor becoming spotless.
“Now, what troubles my beautiful star?” She questioned you again, pulling you into her arms. She felt warm, like bathing in the sun during a relaxing morning.
“I wanted to go so badly mother, I did everything I was told so I could go,” you explained, staring at the parchment on the counter. “Yet when it was time to leave, she left more things for me to do. Now I can’t go,” You finished, sniffling slightly as you wiped your eyes. “I’m being childish, it’s just a stupid dance,” You mumbled as she reached a hand away to wipe them for you.
“Nonsense..” She scolded, pulling you up. “Let’s go get you ready for that dance.” She spoke with determination, pulling you out to the yard.
“The first thing you need is a new dress!” She announced waving her hand at you, your clothes beginning to feel warm and glow before suddenly transforming. Your arms were decorated in rich (f/c) tones, the neckline perfect for your shape, the bottom of the gown flaring out at the thinnest point of your waist. “Oh my–” You began, awe filling you as she waved her hand again. The pumpkin in the corner transformed into a large sparkling carriage, the mice transforming into horses and the horse into a coachman. The dog was transformed into a carriage assistant, your eyes twinkling with amusement.
“Oh and we cannot forget the shoes!” She said excitedly, waving her hand at your feet, causing you to bump up an inch. Lifting your dress, you peered at your feet. Now covering your (s/t) toes was a thick layer of glass.
“Glass slippers…” You gasped before she pushed you into the carriage. “Have a wonderful time, my daughter!” She calls as the carriage starts to take off. “But don’t forget! Every spell will be removed at midnight!” She shouts as you disappear down the road.
.
.
.
“A dance your highness?”
“No thank you,”
“Another goblet of wine, your highness?”
“No thank you,”
“How about you come  with me for the night, I’ll show you a perfect bride,”
“No thank you!” Thranduil was tired.
Left and right over and over again, he gave no thank yous. He didn’t want a bride out of political necessity. He hated the throne and wanted to marry a woman or man simply out of love, not out of what can get him an heir the quickest.
“Who’s that?” Suddenly he heard several girls whispering, all looking at the doorway. Turning his gaze to the door, his heart stopped.
You were beautiful.
It wasn’t the jewels, or the dress, or the shoes. It was the way your eyes sparkled in the moonlight as you walked into the room. Ducking your head in a shy manner, you bowed slightly before making your way to the drink area. Putting down his goblet of wine on a forgotten table, Thranduil knew he had to approach you.
“Prince Thranduil,” He introduced himself, taking your hand and placing a chaste kiss to the back of it, “and you are?” He questioned, a kind smile on his face as you looked at him in slight shock. Before you could give him your name, the musicians started up again, drowning out sounds of all conversation. Leaning close to your ear he spoke just loud enough for you to grasp, “Dance with me, just once?”
Gulping, you nodded, fearing that you’d break his foot in these heavy shoes.
“Relax, I’ll guide you,” Thranduil reassured, his arm on the small of your back, never dipping below as his other hand held yours.
Soon the two of you were dancing around the hall without a care in the world, a smile on the both of your faces as the starlight shone down upon the two of you.
As the dance wound to an end, you bowed slightly, “Thank you for the dance, Thranduil,” You smiled at him before turning to take your leave, “Wait!” He called out to you, catching his father’s attention.
“What’s your name?”
“I have to go, I’m sorry!” You gasped when you saw the clock hanging in the dining hall tick to five minutes until midnight. Rushing out of the hall, you lifted up your dress to run slightly faster as you ascended the steps towards the main entrance.
“Wait!” Thranduil shouted, following after you, wondering how you ran so quickly.
Stumbling slightly down the stairs, one of your shoes slipped off. Looking back at it, you were torn between turning back and getting it or keeping your pace. Sadly sighing, you kept your pace, faltering only slightly.
Reaching down, you slipped off the other slipper and held it as you ran, your heart pounding in your chest as you slipped into the woodland, knowing the forest like the back of your hand as you made the quickest route home.
Slamming the kitchen door shut, you realized no one was home. “They’re still at the party…” You realized as your gown faded away, going back to your cleaning clothes.
The only evidence that you were ever at the ball was in your hand, a single glass slipper.
