Here's that Carmen Sandiego angst you asked for!

Shadowsan had been looking for Carmen for nearly two months. Of course, since she'd struck it out on her own, it wasn't like he'd been seeing her much. Even so, he couldn't help but worry. He was constantly scrolling the news and checking in with Zach and Ivy over at ACME, hoping every day for word of another heist, another evil thief foiled by the great Crimson Ghost. As long as he had some kind of sign of life, that was enough for him. It was almost enough to make him crack a smile. He, Shadowsan, one of the greatest VILE operatives to ever hit the field, was here fussing over this girl like she was his daughter. Ridiculous.
Of course, he couldn't even think of smiling now. Once one month had gone by without any sort of news, he officially started to panic. It wasn't like Carmen, and it really began to make him curse not keeping some kind of direct contact with her. A million different horrible scenarios played through his head as he walked down a dusty side road in Buenos Aries: Carmen trapped somewhere it the wilderness, Carmen captured by Interpol, or worse, by an escaped VILE operative, Carmen dead and unidentified in a mourge somewhere in the world, her identity impossible to determine. He shook his head, willing away those pictures.
"No, it can't be," he thought. "She's alive. Somewhere. She has to be."
He continued his march towards the next town over. He had no idea where Carmen could be, but he figured he'd start here. This was where she came from after all; maybe she'd just hunkered down in her old home. He gazed at the landscape as he walked, remembering the mission that brought Carmen to him in the first place. Up until then, he'd never questioned his place in the organization, but having to see the delight at that little girl's face everyday for years, unaware of the circumstances that brought her to that accursed island. He regretted it everyday, but that was the past. Now is what mattered, and he refused to let his guilt crush him any longer.
After what felt like forever, he finally arrived at the next town on his map. It looked about the same as the past four: about 2 dozen buildings and a handful of people milling about in the late afternoon. He began asking everybody he could stop, mentioning Camen's name and showing her picture in a routine that was entirely habit at this point. In fact, he was so caught up in the rhythm that it took him a couple seconds to process when a woman told him she recognized the girl.
"Wait, sorry?" Shadowsan asked, thrown off.
"Yes, I've seen her," the woman repeated. "My husband found her off the side of the road just a week ago, all tore up. Why? Is she in trouble?"
Shadowsan's world fell out from beneath him. This was it, the worst case scenario was now starring him dead in the face.
"She... she's my daughter."
A few minutes later, he was standing in one of the small brick homes, looking down at an unconscious Carmen. He had to fight the urge to fall to his knees, but he felt incable of even holding up his own weight. The woman and her family were standing a few feet behind him, whispering in quiet Portuguese. Shadowsan didn't even bother to listen.
He crouched down beside her, inspecting the damage. Her closed eyes were covered in bandages, as was most of her body. She was breathing slowly, barely a whisper of life still in her lungs. He took her still hand, to exhausted to stop the tears dripping down his face. This was his girl, the one good thing he had managed to keep throughout all his years. It couldn't be over.
"Carmen?" He was whispering as quietly as he could. "Please. I need you to say something. I need-"
He didn't have time to finish his plea before before Carmen's grip suddenly locked on his wrist. She jolted in the bed, gasping so suddenly the family all yelped and stepped back.
"Shadow... san?"
"Yes! Yes it's me I'm right here," Shadowsan said, greif ripping at his chest at the sound of Carmen's voice.
"I- I'm sorry... really I am I... it's over."
"No, of course it's not. Your going to be ok." Even as he said this though, he could feel her wanning. He was losing her. He couldn't lose her.
"Please, just listen. I don't have much time. VILE... somehow... they're back. They found me, they might know where the others are. Julia, Zack and Ivy... you... you've gotta stop them."
"No no no we'll stop them together-"
"I'm sorry." Carmen shakily laid a hand on his arm. She smiled as best she could. "Thank you. For everything..."
She fell limp. Her breathing slowed to stop. It was a few moments before he stood. His eyes never left her body. VILE was back. Carmen was gone. Their was no one left to stand in their way, no one left who could truly take them down.
Except for one person.
Shadowsan left that house, Carmen's body in tow. He buried her off the side of the road, hoping she finally found rest in her home soil. But he wouldn't rest. Staring down at the freshly disturbed soil, he swore an oath. That he would hunt and burn and kill and every last trace of that organization was gone. He would make it painful, and he would make them regret.
Now that she was gone, what else more could he do.

BOTW Champion Headcannons: Dungeons and Dragons Edition
Prepare for the chaos.
Characters:
Link was the Dungeon Master and the one who introduced the Champions to the game. He's been waiting for this moment.
Zelda played a half-elf druid. The second Link mentioned turning into animals she was all in.
Mipha played a fairy cleric. Link was worried she wouldn't have fun because she's always a healer, but she was just really excited about the cleric abilities.
Urbosa chose a fire genasi barbarian with a massive double-blades battle axe. She's never been more hype for anything in her life.
Daruk played an orc paladin. He didn't really understand what was going on but he knew Link was really excited about the game so he did his best.
Revali played an aarakocra ranger. When Zelda pointed out that he was basically playing himself he responded with, "Exactly."
Riju picked a kobold rouge and made a point to point out that her character was chaotic neutral.
Teba was a harengon monk and dumped all his stat points into dexterity.
Yunobo played a minotaur artificer with the most heartbreaking soul crushing backstory ever.
And finally, Sidon chose to play a satyr bard for no other reason than it sounded fun.
The Shenanigans:
Link spent weeks planning, plotting, worldbuilding, and hyperfocusing on this fiction world and campaign. He definitely lost sleep over it.
Zelda was the only one who actually tried to stay with plot. However, she still took every opportunity avaliable to abuse her wild shape ability.
Mipha got incredibly attached to every single NPC they met and begged the others to let them come with them.
Urbosa's play style consisted of two things: A. Antagonizing as many creatures, enemies, and NPC's as possible and B. Bullying Revali.
Because Daruk knew how hard Link had worked, he stopped to investigate anything and everything, much to Link's delight. He was also definitely the player who spent 30 minutes trying to get through a door when all he had to do was open it.
Revali insisted that his character was super angsty and hated the rest of the party, but they all completely disregarded it. He also spent most of his time trying to avoid Urbosa's antics.
Riju was the most chaotic and unhinged of the party, and she totally tried to fight the BBEG at like level 4.
Teba really tried to strategize and find a way to defeat every enemy in the most efficient way possible, but his efforts were sadly in vain. Most sessions ended with him pinching the bridge of his beak in disappointment.
Yunobo obsessed over the story and lore and took detailed notes for the whole campaign.
Sidon abused his charisma stats to befriend everybody and everything. He probably ended up defeating the BBEG with a therapy session.

I accidentally deleted the ask, by they asked for Overwatch fems comforting an s/o that reached a breaking point after bottling their anger, so here's that!
Widowmaker
She'd always been afraid to get close to anyone because she had a hard time understanding her own emotions, let alone someone else's.
But when Widowmaker saw how upset you were, she knew she had to do something. She cared about you and wanted to prove it, even if she was afraid she'd just make it worse.
She sat you down and made you a cup of your favorite drink (and some tea for herself). She let you rant while she rubbed circles on your back. Never the best with empathy, she just listened to you talk, which seemed to help.
You tried to apologize for losing your temper, but she didn't let you.
"We're all allowed to be angry sometimes, especially someone as nice as you."
Kiriko
Kiriko was immediately ready to fight whoever had pissed you off so much.
However, she eventually decided that they were less important than how you were feeling. She hugged you tight until your breathing calmed, and she helped you pick up the things you'd accidentally knocked over.
She put on your favorite movie and kept promising that it was ok and she wasn't upset. She stayed with you until you fell asleep.
(And then also started internet stalking whoever had pissed you off but don't worry about it its fine)
Mercy
She was definitely taken aback when you started shouting, but it was more out of concern than anything.
As you started to lose steam and cave a bit, she scooped you up in her arms and sat on the floor with you, hugging and reassuring you.
She walked you to bed and snuggled with you all night, stroking your hair and making sure you were alright.
For the next few days, she checked in constantly and left you little notes everywhere saying how much she loved you.

Link With a Knight S/O:
Link's definitely not used to feeling protected, so when you first started dating it was a little awkward.
He was constantly reassuring you and insisting that you didn't need to look out for and put so much on the line for him.
You reminded him however that you know you didn't need to, but you wanted to because you cared about him.
He got very emotional about it (poor thing).
He never did completely stop worrying about you though, and he would always run to find you after a fight to make sure you were ok.
He started opening up to you more, sharing things you would never have told the other champions.
For the first time he could remember, he felt safe. He didn't feel like a burden. He felt like he was worth more to someone than just a knight.
When he introduced you to the other champions, they absolutely loved you wouldn't stop teasing Link about you.
Urbosa pulled you aside one day and said that she didn't know how you'd done it, but that this was the happiest she'd ever seen Link, so whatever it was, keep it up.
(Also a little angst for your troubles)
After the Calamity, when Link awoke in the Shrine of Resurrection, he found a skeleton lying just outside the door. It had the uniform of a Hylian soldier and a sword with something carved into the hilt. When Link inspected it, he found his own name scratched there. At the time, he couldn't remember why or who you had been to him, but he found himself crying nonetheless. He took that sword with him, and when the time came to kill Ganon once and for all, he didn't use the Master Sword to strike the final blow. He used yours.

Revali Headcannons Because I've Been too Mean to Him (BOTW Champion Headcanons P. 10):
He's really really good at makeup.
Once, Zelda was freaking out because she had to put makeup on for a royal event and she had no idea how to do it, so Revali was like, "Fine I'll help, sit down."
I've said this in a previous headcannon post, but I'd like to reiterate that Revali is super good with kids, but he acts like he hates them.
Whenever the champions are in Rito village, they'll occasionally find him telling Rito folk tales to a crowd of kids.
He was 100% a theatre kid.
He had such a crippling fear of failing his people and his kingdom that he developed an oversized ego, convincing himself that it was impossible for him to fail as an unhealthy coping strategy.
Out of all the champions, Mipha had put in the most effort to befriend Revali.
He's absolutely terrified of large bodies of water.
Has fallen asleep while training before because he refused to go to sleep.
Is especially defensive of Zelda because he knows what it feels like to have that kind of pressure on you.
The "rivalry" between him and Link is entirely one-sided.
Takes unessesary risks that end him up with the healers getting chewed out by Urbosa.
Was super outdoorsy as a kid and would often come home covered in dirt with a bunch of leaves and sticks in his hair.
Uses the word "asinine" way to much.
Is usually the unfortunate victim of Purrah and Robbie's shenanigans.
He's very passive aggressive and sarcastic, but Link's nuerodivergent ass never registers it.
Looks up to Urbosa, but would never say that to her face (probably because he would never hear the end of it).
Is a genuinely good person and skilled warrior, but acts overconfident and distances himself from others and his emotions as a result of his own insecurities.

I freaking love Brigitte, so I'm gonna write something sweet for her
Brigitte always felt a little lonely, even around her large family
Everyone else made the first words of their soulmate of their arm, the person who would love them, except Brigitte Lindholm.
She tried not to let it bother her, but when everyone else had the words typed clearly on their wrists, she felt a small pang of jealousy in her heart
But she'd get through it right? It was enough to see her siblings find their true love and start their own families... right?
But that all changed during an Overwatch mission
She had jumped in front of a civilian, throwing up her shield to block them before whisking them away to the sidelines
"Hey are you alright? You're not scratched are you?" She looked down at them, confused when she saw their face light up
They made several gestures with their hands before revealing their soulmate mark
Brigitte's exact words, right there, on your arm
It all clicked
She'd never considered that you might be unable to talk
But here you were! Her soulmate!
She immediately scooped you into her arms with a laugh and hugged you tightly
Her heart swelled with happiness because she'd finally found you!

Eventually, he just awkwardly nods and then proceeds to retreat to his room where he bangs his head against the wall
He might wait to say it back but after an hour of silence you'll get a single text from him

Junkrat
He let's out the highest pitched squeal and tackles you in a hug
He'll start going on and on about how cute that was and about how much he loves you too so be prepared to be stuck in a hug for a couple minutes
Also every text he sends you after that moment is filled with heart emojis

May I request romantic angst headcannons for the pure!vessel hollow knight, where the reader plays the violin outside of the door, in an attempt to calm them after they’ve been infected. Have a wonderful day.
You have a wonderful day as well!
The hollow knight had only recently been sealed inside the Black Egg, waiting for the infection to completely overtake them.
Even though they'd been preparing for this their entire existence, they couldn't help but feel a sense of betrayal and utter loneliness.
Then they heard the music. The notes of the violin were muffled but clear just outside the seals.
They remembered hearing those notes before, and they remembered you.
They pressed themself to the door and listened. The song was calm and quiet, like a lullaby, and they wished with every fiber of their being that they could be out there with you again, even for just a moment.
Even as the infection began stealing their mind and their identity began to fade, they never stopped listening. As everything else faded away, your song is what stayed.
Years later, long after Hollownest's fall, travelers passing by the Black Egg still find your violin resting on the door, and some even swear they can hear humming from inside, like a distant lullaby.

So I just finished watching the movie Nimona on Netflix and even though not many people are going to understand this I wanted to rant about something I noticed after watching.
I wanted to talk about the scene at the very beginning when Ambrosius cuts off Ballister's arm when his sword accidently kills the queen and what it says about the Knight's Institute. At the beginning, it's very quickly established that Ambrosius and Ballister are not only dating but love and trust each other and have know one another for years. Ambrosius knows Ballister and understands his dedication to the queen and the Institute, which at first made me wonder why he reacted to the queen's death by chopping off Ballister's arm. Surely he knows Ballister enough to notice the complete shock and surprise on his face when it happened and to realize that it didn't align with Ballister's beliefs and actions thus far, and even if he didn't pick up on that, why would he immediately default to cutting off the arm of the man he loves?
I think the reason for this is likely because of the way the Institute raises and trains the knights. It teaches them to put orders and fearful instinct over their own reasoning and understanding. Fear is what guides their decisions, and it leaves no room for rational thinking or a growth mindset. Furthermore, Nimona acknowledges this later in the movie when she questions why Ballister is going to Ambrosius for help after he chopped off his arm. He responds by saying that Ambrosius didn't do anything wrong and was just disarming a weapon, and Nimona says that they (the Institute) really brainwashed him good. Ambrosius also acknowledges that his reaction was out of character and impulsive in his pretend monolouge to the Director and more subtly in his shocked and horrified expression at his own actions.
I definitely didn't pick up on this when I first watched the scene and found it very strange, but I now think that's exactly the point. It's meant to sow doubt in the system and the Institute because it reveals how flawed their mindset is. The focus on instinctual fear over true justice and open-mindedness was holding the kingdom back, keeping them trapped in a cycle of fear and ignorance, which is symbolized in Ambrosius' actions.
Maybe this was obvious, but I found it fascinating nonetheless. I highly recommend watching the whole movie if you haven't yet!
