Can everyone just genuinely shut the fuck up about "cringy" art styles. Unless you're actually critiquing something harmful (no, "bad art" or "it's stunting your growth as an artist" is not it), just leave people alone. Imagine growing up thinking some specific way to put fukin. Lines and colors on a canvas is wrong somehow. Because it's cringe? STFU about bean mouths and calarts styles and obvious Fandom art styles and bases. Youths on the internets don't need to make their art appealing to the masses despite what the vile vile algorithm, or the latest art rant tuber says. "It looks ugly!" I don't care. Something looks ugly to everyone but that doesn't mean you get to be a prick to others.
You could be focusing on unlearning harmful biases like colorism or fatphobia or offensive caricatures. That is actually a problem. But we know yall are not doing that when you're making fun of people's art styles. Everyday people aren't corporations or professionals who have to make their art a certain way to pay the bills. We're just people drawing and painting or whatever else. People call cringe culture dead yeah well show it. It's not cool to bully people no matter how trendy(???!!?) it is apparently

special psa for for my artist homies馃棧馃棧馃棧.
if you are in your art journey, no matter how long you've been going thru it. do not compare your art or stress about art style.
comparing your art to others will only hurt you and make you less excited about your art, it doesn't matter how long that artist has been drawing, they went thru the same things you did, and compared themselves too. eventually, they improved and improved over years of practice and are where they at right now. i've been seeing so many young artists compare themselves to others, worry about their art style, and let others value their worth and they end up destroying their self-esteem because of this (i've been through that).
and on art styles. you can't force it, it finds you. sure those "how to find your art style" videos can help, but you *cant* force yourself to draw a certain way because either; you don't like your art, or someone else is pressuring you to draw so-and-so.
and to the young artists, don't let others devalue your art or judge it because of your age, keep on going! defy those mockers expectations and keep drawing!
don't draw to please people, draw for yourself and have fun! :)

Trace me!
Maybe this is a hot take, but I don't care if people trace, reference, copy or repost my art, as long as they credit me properly for anything derivative that they're taking credit for.
*I support young artists' journeys on principle.*
That goes for anyone else, too. Creativity is derivative in nature, but as with anything, ever, it is so, so important that you cite your sources. Now, this doesn't mean encroach on people's boundaries if they have a strict rule against any of these things. But if you ask permission, and give proper credit, you'd be surprised how encouraging some people will be.
Good artists borrow, great artists steal, the best artists give credit.

The best things in the world is finding young artists with bizarre hyperfixations.
So, little fun tidbit about me, I spent most of my life in the Bay Area, and my favorite city in the world is San Francisco. My dad was born and raised there, both my parents went to SF State, etc.
I have a really strong emotional connection to the city, more than anywhere else.
Thanks to my dad, my family are all diehard fans of the San Francisco professional sports teams. So imagine my pleasant surprise when I scrolled past a YT Short of someone's OCs in San Francisco Giants gear.
Intrigued, I investigated the channel, and HOLY SHIT-
I seem to have stumbled across an artist who developed a hyperfixation on the CITY OF SAN FRANCISCO ITSELF and made a bunch of OCs that are personified landmarks and locations
I think I've just found the San Francisco equivalent of a weeb. A friscaboo? Idk
Either way, I am in no means disliking this. In fact, I heavily encourage her to be San Francisco's strongest soldier and make sad lore about her Golden Gate Bridge gijinka. I am personally really digging the Trans-America Building girl
Anyway, I love this person with my whole heart and wish nothing but good things for her.

Don't throw your old art away.
I'm a professional artist. Today while clearing out storage boxes I found this.
I drew this sucker when I was around 3 or 4 years old. I had no idea I still had it. It's like coming across an ancient papyrus. It's 59 years old.
Even when I was 4 I was thinking in terms of illustrating stories. I kinda can figure this thing out.
Santa's coming. His sleigh's being pulled only by Rudolph. Fuck the other reindeer, they're all boring shits.
Brava young me for even trying to draw a sleigh.
Santa has a black mustache but no beard. Maybe he's Italian.
Is that a cross? I was always an atheist, even then, so it probably isn't. Kinda looks like Santa was stabbed.
Looks like the Blue Cat is going to chop down the Christmas tree.
He looks like he's full of evil glee. Oh wow, I rhymed.
I don't know who contributed the two ball-point pen circles and tiny-ass present or house or whatever it is. Wasn't me.
Brown Dog and Pink Rabbit in Christmas hats are running to stop Blue Cat and his Evil Glee.
For some reason back then I was obsessed with green mice. I have no fucking idea.
Don't throw away drawings you did when you were a kid, or ones you think are crap. Someday you'll find them and think, "Man, I was an artist even back then. And look how much I improved!"
This goes for writers as well. Keep all those old stories that make you cringe. Don't destroy them. Years from now you'll peek at them and be proud of young You for even trying.
