Just imagine you're their best friend and they've been single for as long as you can remember. So, you take matters into your own hands and try to arrange dates for them, give them tips, etc (yes, you may be single but at least you have some rizz).

You notice how they're hesitant and often cancel their dates at the last minute or leave early, only to come back to you and hang out with you.

Little do you know that they were single the entire time because you've been the one they had an interest in all along. And they only went along with the matchmaking under the prospect that they could spend more time with you and find out more about the things you like in a relationship. Maybe not the smartest approach...

Eventually when they stand in front of your door after a failed date again you give up on trying to find a partner for them and groan.
