eleanor guthrie is such an interesting take on a “girlboss” character that allows her to be a well-rounded and deeply flawed character without the writing veering into misogynistic “dumb woman who flew too close to the sun” territory, like her blindness to her own hypocrisy is a feature not a bug and it’s what makes her such a tragic character to me

An AU where Garp isn't as understanding and they still couldn't find Buggy's body
-Garp is pretty determined to get his grandson back in the show and while I love it, him suddenly coming to terms with Luffy being a pirate mid fight is probably the weakest aspect of the show. So I have an idea for how it could've gone.
-Garp is determined to "save" his grandson from being a pirate and easily beats him in a fight and brings him back to the marine base with him.
-After everything they've been through together, the Strawhats find themselves on a mission to save their captain. With a small hitch.
"Hey morons! You forget I'm still here?"
-Buggy's body wasn't with Arlong. Well, the hands and feet were. Everything else was scattered across the seas with the surviving members of Arlong's crew who managed to escape and he is *not* happy about this.
-Given the fact he's tiny and can actually move on his own, he'd be very helpful on this kind of mission and they promise to help get him the rest of the body back if he helps them save Luffy.
-Zoro feels guilty for not being able to protect his captain and blames himself for allowing himself to get injured. The usually stoic swordsman accidentally reveals this to the literally talking head that is Buggy, who has a few things to add.
"Gay."
"What?"
"You're so obviously gay for rubber band boy and yet still so oblivious about it to a degree it almost hurts."
-Even if the clown was right, Zoro vehemently denies he isn't, that's besides the point as the strawhats + Buggy focus on getting Luffy back and then maybe dealing with their feelings later.

Owen Grady Imagine: You're pregnant with Owen's kid and you're feeling a little under the weather.
Warnings/Tags: Mentions of nausea, fluff, kinda cuteness, no hurt/all the comfort.
"Honey?"
You hummed blearily from the floor next to the toilet. Owen stood leaning against the doorframe wearing only his grey sweatpants and a white tank top. It was terrifying how the man could wear the thick bottoms in such a humid place.
"Hmm, hey," you said, reaching up to flush. Then you picked yourself off the floor and sat on the rim. "You finally done with that little project?"
Owen had been up at night for weeks now. You didn't know what he was working on. He said it was a surprise for you and the baby, so you didn't try to peak around the area he'd cordoned off outside.
"I decided it was time to sleep. You okay?"
You hadn't been feeling well all day. From the moment you woke up and rolled out of bed your back had ached, your feet felt swollen, and your little one hadn't stopped tossing and turning and kicking and punching.
Normally, the latter few wouldn't bother you so much. Most days when the baby stretched you and Owen grabbed markers and drew where you could see imprints pressing into your skin. Most of the time you traced hands and feet but one time you'd managed to draw the entirety of the baby's butt before they'd shifted away. Owen had gotten a kick out of that one.
You smiled gently at your husband as he handed you a toothbrush. "Just a little stomach bug."
"Well I can see that. Though," an indulgent smile passed over his face, "I don't think it's small."
"Owen."
"More small melon sized, really."
"Owen."
"We should probably be concerned at the size."
"You are so not funny."
Owen threw his head back and cackled, the bastard. Your bastard but a bastard all the same. "I'm hilarious."
You sighed and hung your head. Brushing your teeth brought momentary relief from the taste of bile. Owen's laughter trailed off. For a moment it was only the sound of your miserable brushing. Then he reached out a hand and gently ran it through your mussed hair. A sigh crept up through you and you slumped into his touch.
His tone was much more sympathetic. "Hard day?" A nod. "Do you want food?" A single shake of the head. You wouldn't be able to stomach anything regardless of how good his food always was. It'd be a terrible waste. "How about cuddles?" That, at least, didn't sound too bad. "Finish here and I'll meet you."
You moaned in despair when his hand stopped moving over you. Only then did you realize you'd stopped brushing and was drooling toothpaste and spit down your brush. Feeling ever so slightly foolish, and hungry despite your protests of nourishment, you finished quickly.
You'd only taken two small steps, waddles, really, outside the bathroom when you were swept off your feet and into a pair of strong arms. Discomfort quickly settled as your weight was taken off your feet. A pleased hum left your throat as Owen carried you to the bed.
"Have I ever told you how much I love your arms?"
"I could be persuaded to hear it once more."
He gently laid you on the bed. Then he placed a kiss to your brow. Owen climbed in behind you and practically melded himself to your back. His knees came to rest behind yours as his arms wrapped around your middle. Fingers caressed your very pregnant belly as Owen pressed his face into your neck, breathing in your familiar scent.
You sighed in content when he shuffled just a little to place a small kiss to your temple.
He murmured, "I love you."
You laced one of your hands with his that were resting on your stomach. "I love you too."

Of Yūko's customers, which ones you find most memorable?
Most memorable customers, you say?
I hope you don't mind me using this as an excuse to make an arbitrary list by way of answer. (Arbitrary lists, my beloved...)
Yuuko's Customers In Order Of How Well I Remember Them
(Though I will exclude all the bigger characters for fairness. So, Syaoran, Watanuki, Lava Lamp, Fai, Kurogane, Doumeki, Himawari, Seishirou, Ashura, Tomoyo, etc, etc. Regular xxxHolic customers only!)
10. Birdcage Customer
What was this about? Was he even a customer? We just don't know!
But the thing most memorable about this whole situation is the most pressing question: WHY DO YOU HAVE EVIL WOLVERINE'S SYMBOL ALL OVER YOUR HOME? It's even on his front sign!
WHO ARE YOU?????
9. The Liar
Mostly at the bottom because I can't resist the irony. She's the first big customer we see - but what do we really know about her? Absolutely nothing, because she lied every step of the way!
What can we really remember about someone who never actually told us anything about herself?
Though I guess you could say her ending causes quite an impact.
8. Monkey's Paw Customer
Did I forget this had happened? Perhaps!
She's one of those cases where the cause and effect are so clear that the rest of the cast might as well not even be there - and I think most of her story IS told through scenes entirely from her perspective.
I think the most memorable thing about her is the Sheer Audacity of hunting down a monkey's paw and being convinced that, actually, she already knows what it does so it can't possibly go wrong. Love that for her. Would kill for this confidence.
(Not literally - but she kind of did that also)
7. Ame Warashi
Her impeccable style. Her winning charm. She's an icon.
I had just completely forgotten that she was also a customer at one point.
She makes up for it for being absolutely great in every scene she was in, but what are you going to do in a list based purely on how well I remember the customer part? Woops! My bad!
6. Karasu Tengu
They get huge points for this being a Central Event in the narrative, but also I completely forgot they were in this as customers. The entire plot scenario? Incredible! Character defining! Et cetera!
The actual Karasu Tengu themselves? Woops! I forgot they were there. My fault though!
5. The Computer Addict
I love this one. She's so ahead of the curve that she was addicted to the internet back when you had to be on the pc to use it. Honestly, relatable. I also went through a phase like this as a young teen, so the struggle was real.
Little did we all know that in the present day the accessibility of the internet would be so rampant that she literally wouldn't even need that pc to indulge her habits anymore. Oops!
But that aside Yuuko is peak during this arc and I love everything about it. Especially the fact that Yuuko just hangs out on message boards in her free time? Wonderful information. I can do so much with this.
4. Oops! All Ghosts
Another incredible storyline. The twists are preserved by some sneaky panels from Watanuki's perspective and Yuuko's morally grey approach to the whole situation is wonderful. What if you wanted to get rid of the ghost in your home, only to find out that YOU were the ghost all along? It has the DISTRESS. It has the CONFLICT. It has the TRAGEDY. 10/10
3. Haunted Photo
Another customer with Peak Audacity. Trying to wish away the consequences of your own actions? Committing something awful but being unable to actually look at the proof yourself? The ultimate wish being an anxiety inducing curse that is sure to fail? Love it.
It's also one of those juicy situations where the morality of the situation basically drives itself. The customer causes her own problems and can't actually be saved - and doesn't deserve it either.
And honestly I think CLAMP should get a lot of credit for having the haunting effects of a photograph slowly turning around in a purely static medium. They really pulled that off.
I still love the evil smile in the photograph the last time we see it. PURE memorable.
2. The Twin
WE LOVE HER? WE LOVE HER.
Being consistently cut off and run down and overwritten and slowly clawing your way out of the situation through the sheer desire to be your own person?
And then the answer is a haircut?
It's another glimpse into the side of Yuuko that really does try cut people a good bargain. The wish could have been taken in any number of ways, but Yuuko went for the easiest and most affordable way that would genuinely help the customer actually fix her life on her own. She didn't specifically need supernatural help for this, but it was the route that presented itself, and it was the one that got her the help she needed when she needed it. Very hitsuzen, very relatable, very identifiable storyline that sticks with you.
Just like the final entry!
1. Kohane
Listen do I even need to explain this one.
Kohane is like THE storyline. It's THE example of what it's all about. It's not entirely supernatural in nature but completely heart wrenching. It has Watanuki playing a central role in fixing the problem, setting up for his future (or at least, what I assume it will be). It ties xxxHolic to Tsubasa and hints at a secret tool that will help with someone later.
And it has Kohane! You can't go wrong.

What is Giles and Milton's deal anyway, like, they're centuries old wizards who apparently travelled to Earth at some point according to MH, and founding the school in 1812.
But where does the Grimm family fit into the mythos of Ever After?? Did they already have influence and EAH just solidified it? And while I don't care the backstory bit from Thronecoming, their father also placed importance on the stories. So I guess it makes me wonder how the destiny cycle looked before the school, and the Grimm family's possible place in it.
