just desi things — life story (it's fun and it's true, i promise)
so i just came to know that my dad has these secret spies hidden everywhere. on my way to school. on my way back home from school. earlier when i used to go to tuition. when i used to come back from tuition. now that i don't go to tuition anymore, he revealed that he'd asked this chaiwala (tea stall person) to keep an eye on me. this chips shop wale uncle, to see whether i was bunking classes to talk to my friends. this another man who was a idk some job person in the nearby hospital to keep an eye on me. so that he could make sure i was safe on the road even when he isn't around. and also to check whether i am getting under bad influence or not lol. thankfully nothing was out of place, or has ever been, till now and i hope to keep it that way :)
now he said that on my way to and from school too, there are people everywhere keeping an eye on me and will report to him as soon as anything is out of place. i won't even be able to guess who might potentially know me and my father and report to him. it's not like he doesn't trust me, he does but this is for my safety lol. so that i am safe on the roads and everywhere. also so that i don't go do drugs while bunking school but we'll ignore that because he never said that. and this spy thing has been going on since i was in class 4... around 9 years old... just for my safety :)
now i feel that my dad is this kinda Italian or Russian mafia person and i'm a mafia princess and there are spies everywhere hidden under the disguise of normal men to ensure my safety.
it's so much fun honestly. makes the plot of my life even more interesting .
i’m sooo curious on bill meeting dipper’s parents. i think i remember you mentioning at one point they kinda sucked and treated dip especially bad. i’m sure that’s caused a lot of his long term mental health/self esteem issues and i can’t help but think his husband wouldn’t be too thrilled about that. also they don’t even know he’s married so that’s a whole other thing lol
In the Familiar AU, Dipper's parents shipped him and Mabel off to Grunkle Stan back when they were twelve, actually!
This was initially excused as the twins 'needing to get used to having magic'. Which makes sense! Magical puberty is a heck of a thing, and getting some training's useful to cut down on random magic surges.
But by the end of the summer, they hadn't made any plans for picking the kids up. This when Stan twigged to the real situation.
And by the end of that year, Dipper knew his 'paranoid' assumption was absolutely correct.
So the twins grew up in Gravity Falls, with only very occasional visits back 'home'. Contact's been sporadic, and Mabel's been the one who's clung more to their parent's attention. Dipper hasn't spoken to them unless forced to in years.
So yeah! Bill's not exactly thrilled with the parents - but lucky for them, they haven't met him yet! And they definitely don't know about the marriage. Much less anything else.
Never thought I would make an animatic but Purgatory final had push me to the path of no return...
Oh, and have I told you how broken my heart was when I think about q!Cellbit clutch q!Roier jacket in his arm so at least a fraction of them can be together at this last moment :')))
(one of) the most frustrating parts about the portrayal of drow society is that it wants to create Reverse Sexism without uncoupling itself from some. pretty foundational patriarchal ideas. it ascribes to the (tired, essentialist) notion that men are inherently good at certain things, and women are inherently suited for different things
but rather than the basic subversion of “women are warriors and men are the homemakers” or even early feminist thought experiments like “traditionally ‘women’s priorities’ are given importance over ‘men’s’ (ie things are governed by council, importance is placed on childrearing, etc)”, menzoberranzan is “this society still holds to patriarchal values and women are not as good at these things which is why it’s demonstrably worse”.
the biggest tell is that they have to control the male population to maintain female dominance, the implication being that in a fair fight, men would easily overpower them. it assumes the misogynist ideas as fact that “women are inherently weaker” and also “women are duplicitous” so the drow fighting style is based on stealth and sabotage rather than “”honorable”” face- to-face combat (letting lie also the assumption that the only avenue for ambition is through military violence, and therefore still making it so that they are reliant on men, even as disposable shock troops, for their success).
the only things that keep women in charge are by stacking the numbers on a systematic level, and through sexual domination on the individual level (because clearly the only real power a woman can have over men is her sexuality).
it is a society where “men act like men” but women don’t act like women; it is evil because an act of god created an aberration against the “natural order” of things, and there is no one to tend the hearth (because if the women won’t do it, no one will)
at the risk of sounding butthurt for talking about not being butthurt: going through quals really prepared me for trawling through fandom meta and research while keeping my zen
i like to think about george and lucy doing cases together as they lock lockwood in the house to force him to heal after being shot (and falling down the catafelque hole and battling a bunch of ghosts and fighting off a load of thugs)
I just looked up the name McCoy cause I wanted to know the origin of this name and wikipedia said something about scottish and irish...
And only because of that my head made up the headcanon that Hank has scottish/irish origins and he has an eccentric great uncle who still lives there...
This uncle can't barely stand anyone around him except Hank. Hank's his favorite from the whole family and he has no problem with letting everyone know.
When this uncle heard about Hank's mutation and that he turned all blue and furry this uncle immediately bought several blue clothes and accessories to show his support. From there one he always wore something blue.
He never mentioned anything and just silently accepted and supported his nephew.
The uncle is also a very proud, stubborn and headstrong man and always refuses to let others help. So everytime he and Hank meet and Hank wants to help with something the uncle just shoos him away and complains that he's not a senile old man and can take care of it himself. "Boy sit down for havens sake!" he then orders.
Yes he was an army man and had a very high rank there.
Beside Hank the only other living being he openly likes is his dog.
Ok people acting like feeding anything that isn’t owned by Purina or hills will kill your pets are being a BIT dramatic here. I have never used either and all of my animals are miraculously alive and fully healthy.
