Been forcing myself to attempt to finish this Akemi WIP - the idea's too good. We'll see if I manage but this is already something. I kinda hate my old style but Akemi still shines through !

Eh eh I must vent a bit about some choices I made they obsess me. First pointing out the obvious, the jewelry being olive trees inspired, realistic or stylised (after this greek art representing an olive tree 💚💚💚) ;

Then the use of pharaonic sceptres, cause the idea of Dany with pharaonic regalia is just 😍 to me. The heqa and the nekhekh 👇 being those two symbols of power associated to very basic works - that of agriculture & animal husbandry. They are tied to notions of power, sovereignty & fertility.

The heqa sceptre, in the shape of a shepherd's nook works so well as a symbol for Dany - not only is there this rumor that Valyrians were shepherds before they became dragonlords, and Dany is allied with the Lazhareene people who worship the "great shepherd", but there's this aspect of Dany as a leading religious figure, a messiah freeing people from bondage (like Moses was a shepherd literally, and like Christ was one metaphorically with his "flock" - while also being a lamb).

The Nekhekh has a more complicated meaning (either a flail, so an agricultural tool to take care of grains, or a tool to handle animals). I had a some thoughts about it, especially since it looks like a whip of sort & it didn't feel especially proper for Dany to hold something looking like it...made me think of Dany's handle of whips in the books, either to discipline Drogon so he won't be too much of a threat to others or crucially, when she used the Harpy's Fingers against Kraznys. Using what is a very designated tool of subjuguation & mark of ownership to punish a man dealing in subjuguation & ownership of human beings...like when she used the crucifixion against the masters, later on. Dany subverting these violent punishments, either giving justice or feeding a loop of violence - maybe controversial but it's interesting to me to incorporate this into her regalia as queen, with the nekhekh not just being a agricultural tool which complements the heqa, but also as a pendant, an opposite, two aspects of power, a whip held against slavers ; one sceptre leading and caring (for the flock, the freedmen), and the other fearsome their against ennemies.

Anyway, I couldn't finish the previous WIP but I sure could finish this ! (It took so much time though 😩). First of this art project centering Targaryen female potential heirs & women of power : Daenerys Targaryen (III) - four of her for the price of one 🫶. Two portraits of her as a queen in Essos. Two slightly different styles for one iconic lady.

And two versions of the same portrait of her as a woman & a queen in Westeros. There's a miniature portrait of Aegon the Conqueror on her tiara.

Which do you fancy more ? 😙

I haven't caught up with a bunch of Shōgun episodes and am ignorant of many developments in the series but idc maybe Mariko & Ochiba should kiss or something.

I don't have the heart & strength to finish these Daenerys WIPs so here you go.

Ok so we have four colors taken - Jeyne Poole for pink, Barbrey Dustin for orange, Willas Tyrell for green, and Desmera Redwyne for purple. Four remain ! Who do you want for light blue, dark blue, red, and yellow ?

Sooo I may be overbooking myself again but I want to draw some more. Give me asoiaf characters (main books only for this one !) to fit on that color wheel. I'll try to do one or two a week !

Also other Hotd rant but I can't believe they tried to avoid the "burry your gays" trope by having Rhaenyra & Daemon sacrifice some random guy to allow Laenor to fake his death & then flee to Essos with his boyfriend . At least in the book there's plausible deniability + she's not written as a very moral person anyway ; but man Hotd is gonna carry this dead horse around by trying to make Rhaenyra into the most moral monarch, who cares about the people suffering from the consequences of war, while she & her former husband literally threw away some lowly guard's life so they could "indulge" in what duty denied them before. Something could have been done with it but the show is buying too much into Rhaenyra as a morally good person & even a potentially revolutionary ruler.

I hate Hotd for this one small thing why did GRRM give himself the extra homework of setting up the fact that Aegon was a dreamer in the book & reveal his one specific dream to Dany or Jon or whoever is there to find it (Sam ?) when it seems to have been recorded nowhere in history for literally no reason whatsoever (Aegon is so dumb OMG why do you keep this important world-saving & easy propaganda prophecy as an heir-only knowledge and then your heirs who both suck fuck it up immediately ? Goodness). When like, Daenys & her portents are right there and Marwyn the Mage is going to Daenerys with a page of the book. For fuck's sake. Of course. Is Daenys even mentioned in Hotd aside maybe a vague allusion in Daemon's quote "dreams didn't make us kings, dragons did" ?

I aim to become the CEO of Dany/Margaery/Sansa. My girls.
