You stared at him for a long time, opening your mouth to say something before shutting your mouth and backing up “I don’t know-“

There was a low growl from DogDay that cut off your words. "Eat it. Unless you want me to get mad at you. I don't want to get mad at you, do you?"

There was a slight pause from the monster. "Look, Angel, I'm tired of this. If you don't do as I say and take a bite of this meat, then...I'll have to use other means." the monster stepped closer.

You slowly start to back up the more he comes closer. “D.D. What kind of meat is this. Come on…you’re not like the other entities…you’re good. Right…”

"Right...right...just...just try it..." DogDay's voice got an edge to it. He moved closer, until he was within arms reach. "Just take the meat. Take a bite and all my little worries go away. If you don't...I can't guarantee I won't snap."

Looking at the meat in front of you, you stare down with uneasy eyes before you bite into it... As your teeth bit into the meat. The juices filled your mouth. It tasted...weird, but also...not that bad. A meat you couldn't describe the taste of. You chewed it and swallowed it. You almost...liked it?

Sighing you turn to him a ask “Now…what is this.”

DogDay is shocked, almost pleased that you took a bite without trying to run away. He also looks surprised that you liked the meat. However, the monster recovers and gives you a wicked grin.

"Lets just say that it's a mystery meat and an acquired taste, Little Angel. But...now that you like it...you'll eat whatever I give you, won't you?"

He knew what it was and so did you…“It’s human isn’t it…”

The monster pauses, the wicked grin leaving his face. "Ah, my Little Angel is so clever. What gave it away? Does it bother the precious Little Angel to know she's eating a person?" he took a step forward.

Suddenly, your throat closed up, and you felt like vomiting. You rubbed your neck with your hand.

“you know this is the only way to survive. stop acting like a child. you need to stay alive doll. I need you to stay alive” DogDay stepped forward and looked down at you. His voice was back to the soft, comforting one. “please understand…I have to do this because I care about you….Please don’t leave me…I can’t stand being alone, You’re my light.” he continued to walk forward, approaching you.

You weren’t the only cat out of the smiling critters.

There was another one, Catnap. Though, you were very much like him.

You were barely any different from him! The only difference is that you were a girl(and maybe the color, it depends on what color you want to be).

You were quiet, sneaky, hid in the dark, interacted with others, but not so happily. Even if it looked like you hated being at Playtime co, it wasn’t that bad here.

Other than the abusive workers.

And Catnap stalking you.

You didn’t find it that creepy, but it did annoy you a little bit. Why couldn’t he just interact with you? Yet you caught him looking at you every time.

Cat instincts, that’s all. Y’know, maybe he wanted you gone because he wants to be the only cat critter.

You’ll just have to wait.

There would be times where you tried to talk to him, but he’d just walk away.

You don’t know why, he could at least just listen to you. Makes you feel a little sad.

Of course, somebody noticed. That was Dogday.

“Mew, you’ve been seeming kind of down these days, are you alright?”

“... Yea, it’s just that. Catnap’s been ignoring me. I try to talk to him, but he just walks away.”

Dogday furrowed his eyebrows a little, pretty disappointed in Catnap’s actions.

“Oh alright, I’ll try to talk about it with him..”

“Oh, thanks Dogday.”

After that, you caught Catnap right behind you staring at you. It happened quite often.

… At least he wasn’t hiding in the shadows.

.

But now, 10 years later, he’s always in the shadows.

And 10 years later, you’re here, roaming the halls just like Catnap. You wish you could check up on Dogday, but you can’t Catnap’s too possessive.

If you even tried to sneak around to talk to him, Dogday would be dead the next hour. Not from Catnap’s hands, but from the smaller critters' mouths.

You wish you could just see your best friend one last time.

But you can, just this one time. Why? So you could alert Dogday that his body will be taken over by the smaller critters.

The tinies were listening in of course, excited to finally get their fill.

Why does the only time you get to talk to him the time where you tell him how he dies? Sometimes you wished Catnap wasn’t so possessive. You feel as if he would trust Dogday but— apparently you were wrong.

“Oh.. I guess I’ll have to prepare for the future.”

You wish you could rub your head against his and tell him it’s okay. You wish you didn’t have to tell him the way he dies. You wish you could’ve just passed like the other critters.

What made you so special?

“...” You would’ve told him you’re sorry, but you know Catnap was watching. He would’ve told the smaller critters to make Dogday’s death more painful and slow.

You just want him to be put out of his misery. He could’ve just agreed with serving the prototype and he would’ve lived.

But that’s not the Dogday you know.

And apparently, the player arrived so you have to go.

Even if they were already dealing with the smaller demonic version of the Smiling Critters, Catnap was determined to kill them. Or, to hunt he says.

Catnap wants to kill the player, but wouldn’t mind you doing it instead.

Unfortunately, there were hiding spots in the play area. The place where there’s different colored blocks and random holes that the small ones come from.

You were looking for the player, and since you saw the hiding spots, you looked in them. After some time you finally spotted them.

You grabbed them and threw them on the ground. They used their grab pack and grabbed at your eye. You tried to stop them by grabbing their face, but the hand took your eye out of its place.

And for some reason that singular eye was heavily connected to the organs in your system.

The player scurried towards a possible exit in the place, and ran, leaving you to die by yourself.

Catnap thought you could handle it yourself. But you didn’t.

Not only did you being dead anger him even more. But he didn’t want to hunt anymore, he wanted to torture and kill that stupid player.

He loved you so much that he didn’t even give up your body to the Prototype. You weren’t just some toy, you were his love.

Thankfully, the Prototype accepted the fact Catnap wanted to keep you.

After that, every way Catnap planned just to spook the player, wasn’t just giving them a little scare anymore. It was supposed to terrify them. To make them feel threatened.

To make them scream whenever he came near them.

He even released his red gas to make them have horrific hallucinations.

He nearly killed them, but didn’t, he wanted them to go through the pain he experienced.

But no matter how much torture they went through, it will never make up for the death they caused.

It will never replace your death.

It will never make him as happy as he was when you made him happy.

Poppy Playtime Project - soft yandere! Catnap x gender-neutral!Protagonist! reader

Hey guys, welcome to this small excerpt featuring one of my favorite mascot horror video games, Poppy Playtime. Special thanks to @semisolidmind for allowing me to use their Survivor!AU concept set in this game.

If anyone would like this to be a two-part series, please let me know via liking this or in the comments section below. So with that being said, sit back, relax, and let's explore the halls of the dilapidated toy factory while questioning our sanity :)

You did not know what compelled you to save Catnap from being killed by the Prototype.

He threw you down the garbage chute and stalked you in the halls of Home Sweet Home. He tortured you through hallucinations caused by the Red Smoke. He tortured Dogday. Everything he did was of his own volition, for the Prototype that he worshiped as a god. To him, you and Dogday were heretics. Yet instead of delivering the final blow that could finish off the last Smiling Critter once and for all, you used the electrical current from the green glove on the Prototype’s skeletal hand to drive him away.

Maybe it was because you were tired of being told who you could and couldn’t save in this place. Or maybe it was your guilt, knowing that through some twisted logic, you were the reason that everyone had disappeared on August 8th, 1995.

Leith Pierre never liked it when one of the company’s successful experiments went rogue, especially when it was in relation to unlocking the secret to slowing down the aging process.

But that was then, and this is now. You had saved Catnap, and there was no going back. You told him to hide, or at least stay out of sight until the Prototype was dead. You knew Dogday wasn’t going to like seeing his worst enemy still alive, but this was not the time to get into a fight. Not when there could be more dangers lurking in the depths of the factory.

You’ll deal with their quarreling once everything is over.

Your truck could fit Kissy and Poppy if they sat in the back seat, maybe Dogday too. He still needed some more patchwork done, but at least using a cauterized needle stitched up his lower half so none of the smaller Smiling Critters could get inside him.

What you didn't realize at the time was that Catnap had begun to question his beliefs in the god he had been worshiping for so long. Why he had poured his heart and soul to the Prototype, giving him everything he asked for and yet received nothing in return for his devotion. Could he, a heretic, find salvation with you in an unknown world beyond the factory’s gates?

Catnap was not sure, but he was determined to follow you wherever you and the others went. A Savior must be protected from heretics. A Savior must be cherished. And a shrine is one of the best ways to show his faithfulness to them, is it not?

Where Dogday is very grateful towards to Player and has considered even Secretly worshipping them. Because The Player has saved him, gave him back his legs, and Now lets him live with them with Poppy and KM. So Catnap worshipped the Prototype since he was Catnap’s Savior. Your Saving Grace

Isn't it ironic how different cats and dogs are, yet how similar? They love and admire in similar ways. It's no different with Catnap and Dogday. Catnap worshiped the prototype, and Dogday worshiped his angel.

The only difference is that the canine was more subtle, not wanting to freak you out. But he'd do little things to keep his obsession in check and stay in your good graces. You were his everything, his savior. His angel. His god.

He hadn't even noticed how he stared off into space looking at you, until you let out a nervous chuckle. “Uh.. is everything alright? Is there something on my face??” You asked with pure obliviousness.

He quickly snapped out of it and blinked, shaking his head a little bit before chuckling. “No, angel. I'm sorry, I just got a little distracted.” He had stated, smiling at you happily. You truly were his everything, he could restate everything you liked and disliked and tell you every crook and cranny about your face if you really wanted him to, even tell you where your missing hair ties went. But that's just because of how observant he was, he wanted to know everything about his savior.

He hated how much he sounded like Catnap in his own mind, he felt like a hypocrite. But he was forever grateful to you for saving him, for healing him and taking care of him. How could he not be a little crazy over you? He sighed softly as he saw you get up, noticing the time. You always seemed to get up at this time to make tea, every day on the dot. He adored how easy it was to keep track of your schedule, even if it felt a bit creepy. He watched you from the living room, how you'd pour your hot water over your teabag and stir in two spoonfuls of honey and sugar. Your hands were so sweet, he couldn't help but to admire the very hands that stitched him up.

His attention was very quickly shoved into a state of worry when he heard you hiss in pain, getting up and going over to you. He tilted his head with confusion. “What's wrong? Are you okay?” He asked.

“Yeah, I'm fine.” you responded with a sigh, glaring down at your cup of tea that held the same liquid that splashed out over the side when you picked it up and burned you. Dogday frowned and carefully lifted your hand up, kissing where it was burned before helping you over to the sink to run cool water over it to ease the burn.

He hated how much he was like that stupid cat.

Honk— “Kitty! It's time ta wake up!!” Kickin said, hey, you can't sleep for too long, you have to deal with the kids. You almost flinched from Kickin's loud approach. You were slowly waking up, fastly blinking and then looking like you'll go to sleep again. “C'mon!!” He put his wing on your face.

“Kickin, I'm awake. Please.” You whisper. Gently putting your paw on his wing. He raised his eyebrows a bit from that. He smiled, and took your paw with both of his wings, softly yanking you so you can get up quicker.

You were a little sloppy, so you stood up (while sitting) and lazily leaned on Kickin. “Oof– ... At least you're up…”

The other critters were all discussing today's activity while you were (kind of) cuddling with Kickin.

Bobby Bearhug came up to you and started cuddling with you. Now having two Smiling Critters on both of your sides!

“So, whaddya think Kitty?!” Dogday said, catching your attention. You were still tired and not processing things, so you have no idea what he meant.

“... Huh?” The critters started laughing from your oblivious sound. Dogday was laughing too, “I mean— heh, I mean what do you think about t-today’s activity..?” You were much more awake for what he said, “Oh um. I— I think it’s nice…” You muttered.

“Great!”

The children were all awake, happy(most of them) and bright(mostly). You were stepping out of the critters’ room, while holding paws with Bobby as she was explaining the main activity.

“So, do you have it now?” She asked you, thankfully you were actually paying attention this time.

“Um. Yea..” You whispered. You weren’t much of a talkative one, but that’s okay.

Some would say you were like Craftycorn, but more shy. You try to ignore those comparisons. The kids were eating their breakfast, and Bobby was still next to you.

You had to watch the kids, because just in case a kid was choking, you needed to get them to not choke. The other critters would handle the other kids and calm them down. The other critters mostly being Dogday and Bobby.

While Bobby was sitting right next to you, holding your paw, just talking about what it was like dealing with the children's emotions, while her head was on your shoulder.

A few feet away, there were some jealous critters looking at you two. “I wanna hold Kitty’s paw…” Picky said. “Me too..” Kickin added.

Dogday saw their envious mood and went over to them. “It’s okay guys, there’s no need to be jealous!” He looked over at you two.

Yea he sees no reason to be jealous. This is because he is an adult! Well it was a headcanon, and to be honest with you, it seems like a really good headcanon. Basically he was an employee at Playtime co.

Dogday didn’t get it! He doesn’t understand. (NO SHAME FOR MY BABY!!!!!)

The kids were done eating, and now they all were doing the activity. If you were wondering what this mystery activity is, it’s about sleep and rest.

The kids thought it was going to be boring, who wants to talk about sleeping?? But the critters wanted to talk about how good it is to get some shut eye after a long day of being awake.

Maybe it could also help Catnap with the kids falling asleep.

All the Smiling Critters were grouped together, doing actions and spouting words on why sleep is good for you.

“See?! Kickin here is all tired and sleepy (he was doing an action to represent it), not able to really do anything!”

“It is also not good for your health!”

“But Catnap is all nice and rested! Being able to walk, talk, and color while being fully awake.”

“Not getting enough sleep isn’t good for anybody! Not adults, little kids like you guys, or even teens! If you get the sleep required, you’re able to get work done quicker, be able to color, and many activities can be done!”

“Even fun activities! Drawing, doing sports, playing games, all of those things can be done in a more fun way, just by getting a few hours of sleep!”

Bubba was able to communicate with the children in a more interesting way, not a lot of them were bored from his statements.

“Any questions?” Bubba asked, some kids raised their hands, showing their curiosity about sleep.

“What happens if I don’t sleep?”

“Well… If you don’t sleep, your body can’t operate very well. It’s like your bed is the charger, and you need that charger in order to get through the day! Some say.. If you don’t get sleep for too long, your brain.. Can eat itself!!!” He said, getting the kids all hyped up.

“Well I guess I should get some sleep!!” One kid said.

“Yea! I don't want my brain to eat itself!!” Another wailed.

“Mhm! And so you can learn about it, if you want to, I have a word search!”

The children started grabbing the papers, wanting to know some words about sleep.

“I also have something you could decode! For the kids who want to challenge their brain!”

The kids were all doing something, word searches, talking to the critters to get more facts about rest, decoding, at least an activity that can distract them.

You and Catnap were walking around, helping any of the kids, and also calming them down if they got frustrated.

You two were just being cuddly kitties.

You were pretty sure the other critters(minus Dogday) were holding back from just cuddling up to you too.

Apparently they had to help with the kids….

• When he first met you he simply saw you as a new best friend to make, Although the more he got to know you he wanted to be much more than just friends.

• I highly doubt that he would kidnap you, kill/harm someone for you, or steal things from you, but what he does do is sleep with you and spy on you often, He doesn't even do it on purpose, the poor dog just admires your beauty and doesn't realize that he's been watching you for hours.

• More than once he stops playing with his friends just to see you and at least one of them noticed, it probably became his hobby.

• You're probably not comfortable with it and try to ask him if something's wrong, if you don't care then maybe you just think he's watching to make sure no one gets hurt, after all he's the leader.

• If he kills someone (most likely unintentionally) he will quickly regret it and punish himself, he probably spent more than an hour standing on a corner regretting what he did.

• Maybe he stole something from you once but after a few days he felt bad for stealing and will secretly return it.

• in short, he is a yandere who simply stalks you and has a very small chance of killing someone although he will punish himself for doing so.

There are very few ways in which he shows affection. Possibly trapping you under him because he's too lazy and sleepy. The slight purring you hear when petting him. Or just an aggressive loving “YOU FUCKING IDOT.” Thrown around when you run into some entities.

He shows his affection by just keeping you fed and alive. But in those small tiny moments there is a mutter of…

“I want to care about you but I'm scared to get attached…your lifespan is just too little. I've suggested you become one of us, the prototype could do that but you call that blaspheme…”

When you tell him about the small Holiday he starts planning everything. Maybe he can find an old projector and watch movies in the den! Or some kind of sweets and DogDay merchandise to give you.

𝑫𝒐𝒈𝑫𝒂𝒚 x Reader PT. 1

You didn’t know why you even decided to go into the factory. You can’t even remember your motive for going on, but there was none of it left so why did it even matter?

DogDay. After finding you while you were exploring, he felt this deep down in his heart... This feeling had been longing to come back. For the last bit of humanity left in him, he kept you... he made sure you scavenged around for anything that could keep you healthy and alive, food, water, blankets, etc. Despite your whining and fighting, he didn't let you go deeper into the factory, and he kept you in a nest-like room in the orphanage... "Angel...Angel? Are you awake? Are you Hungry?”

You groan, digging your head into the pillow…you were practically kidnapped by this 8-foot humanoid dog, as much as you wished to escape and go back home it wasn't an option anymore, he'd always catch you… “D.D. I was sleeping” you whined

DogDay chuckled, a scratchy sound not matching his appearance. "Oh, my Little Angel...I knew you were sleeping but it's time to eat...please, for me." DogDay sounded exhausted with his role as protector. His tone never wavered from a soft, caring one. "You know that I need you to eat well...right?"

You sighed, looking at him for a few moments, how did you even get into this situation of being forcefully taken care of by some humanoid hellhound… “Yeah. yeah. Right. Just give it to me” you murmured, you almost felt pity if it wasn’t for the fact every time you tried escaping he’d hunt you down like a serial killer in a horror movie.

DogDay snapped his paws in the air, a sudden burst of joy hitting him. "Oh, I can't wait until you eat. I need to know what you think about what I got you." DogDay bounced as he spoke, his movements a stark contrast to his rough voice. "C'mon, Child, get up I got something really extraordinary."

You tense up, the last time he said ‘something special’ he had found a literal animal corpse...and not just any. But a raccoon corpse…wonder what gore you’ll see today, “Oh and what may that be…” you muttered, following in his steps.

"Oh, it's..." DogDay made a show of tapping his chin and pretending to think, then with a snap of his fingers and a loud "Ah-ha!" he said, "It's...a surprise!" DogDay bounced on his hind legs, a rare display of genuine joy that nearly sent him toppling over. "Come on, let's go! It's a real winner!" DogDay's demeanor was infectious,

There was no happy “yeah…” in it, just a sarcastic worried one... Although DogDay was oblivious, you followed him through the orphanage and he made sure to keep a close eye on you at all times.

"Now we're there." The monster said as he turned down a dark hallway behind the orphanage. The place was dark. Very dark. It smelled like mold and mildew and something else...blood. He led you to a room with an iron door. He swung it open. You stepped into the room. The light was murky, but you could make out a pile of...meat on an iron table in the corner. It was a mix of red and white. It was...not a raccoon, that's for sure...

“Th-that uhh…Hey D.Day…what is that?” Your voice became unstable and disturbed

DogDay sneered. "Why that's just your lunch. I know you were always looking a bit hungry, little Angel, so I figured you'd like a nice snack. It's...um...fresh."

“What kind of fresh meat.” You turn and perk up at him

The anomaly gave you another twisted grin. "It's a surprise...I got this, especially for you. It won't bite ya, I promise. Come on...take a bite. I bet you'll like it. Just trust me. Trust your guardian."
