“Yeah, I think I’m pretty tired of it all. I think I’m angry.” The villain closed their eyes and leaned back, falling into the bed comfortably.

“You think you’re angry,” the hero stated, as if they were too afraid to ask the question.

“Yeah. It’s the first emotion I can remember. I was three and my mom didn’t want to buy me ice cream. I kept screaming but she wouldn’t buy anything. It’s my first memory. I’ve been angry at the world for a very long time.”

“That’s a decent reason for trying to take over the world,” the hero said. They sat down on the bed, pulling their legs against their chest. The villain realised they were nearly touching each other. After all, the bed was small and both of them were on it. “Ice cream is the best dessert.”

The villain didn’t answer. They’d wasted enough of their time already. But it was like a drug. Getting hurt, getting angry, getting violent. Repeating the cycle. Was it raw humanity inside them? Or was it them who was different? Was it them who was broken?

“I was only joking,” the hero said. They pushed the villain’s shoulder playfully and the villain managed a tired smile. Their wounds hadn’t healed yet and whatever medical attention they got in here was barely enough to keep them alive.

They doubted the hero knew they didn’t get any painkillers.

“Why did you visit me?” they asked eventually but the hero didn’t seem to have a fitting answer for that right away. They looked at the villain and tried every now and then to find the right words.

“I think I was angry too,” they said eventually. “I was tired of conflict, I was tired of battle. But I couldn’t stop. Not really. I think it was pride and it was duty too, I suppose. Whatever motivated me, I wish I hadn’t been so concerned with it. This was eating me. Fighting you was eating me. Seeing someone with so much potential, someone so talented who was a lot like me…that really frustrated me.”

“So, you’ve come here to apologise?” the villain asked.

“I guess so. I’m sorry. I’m sorry for putting you in here. I thought this facility would help you. They got therapists and nurses…they have a lot of plans to help you.”

If help meant suffering from their injuries, then they were succeeding.

“I’m sorry I didn’t help — actually help — you sooner. We should’ve talked more, we should’ve seen each other more. I’ve always liked you.”

They played with the fabric of the villain’s shirt, lost in thoughts.

“I understand being angry. I understand being frustrated. It is exhausting. You begin to loathe people, you begin to loathe yourself. And you don’t know where to put it. You don’t know what to do with it, so you channel it and throw it at the person closest to you.”

“Sorry about that, by the way. The person closest to me are you,” the villain said. The hero looked up and both of them knew that they truly only had each other.

“I know,” they said softly. “That’s why I’m apologising, too. Because that’s what you are to me as well.”

For a moment, they could only stare at each other. It was quite clear that their anger wasn’t born from love. It was born from frustration and fear.

But that anger was consuming love. It consumed the love between them, fed on what could’ve been. It was eating that love away, leaving no room for it, leaving no chance for any other emotion than anger.

And yet, and yet. As everything was quiet and the villain watched the hero play with that shirt of theirs, there was room for something to grow.

haikyuu uses a lot of animal imagery to give us information about the characters and their personalities/traits in a visual way. the karasuno kids are often compared to crows, especially in their fighting style; similarly, the nekoma kids are compared to cats and their character designs often make use of cat eyes or other cat features. kenma specifically is modeled after a calico cat with his half-bleached hair, and in fact when we first meet him he is shown with a calico cat and the cat is used almost as a kind of foreshadowing. the interesting thing about calico cats is they are almost all female, because in order to get the calico pattern they need two X chromosomes. klinefelter males (XXY) can be calico but they are extremely rare. therefore i believe furudate intended us to understand that kenma himself has two X chromosomes, making him canonically trans. in this essay i will -

Something new under the sun - Phoenix

During the cat color tournament, I stumbled into a Russian maine coon breeder's, Natalia Yakhontova (Doma Yahontoff Maine Coons) facebook page (via this messybeast article which got updated since, and know includes phoenix on its own rights), and I found a very interesting, unique new color: phoenix.

The first phoenix cats were born in 2021 august to a black golden tortie mother and a black smoke father, and were believed to be particularly bright goldens.

The parents, Karamel Sanatacun and Ice Cream Dom Sapfiroff

According to the breeder:

в первом помете она дала трёх фениксов,трёх черепах,одного черного золотого кота и одного красного мраморного (In the first litter she [Karamel] gave birth to three phoenixes, three tortoiseshells, one black golden cat and one red blotched cat.)

Obama,a mystery-colored kitten from the first litter, and his siblings.

Along with Karamel, one of the kittens, Obama Iz Doma Yahontoff was tested for several known colors: chocolate and cinnamon, serdolic and amber, and got negative results for all. Obama started to grow up and he looked less and less like a golden cat:

He moved to the Dom Sapfiroff cattery and was paired several different females.

One of Obama's mates, Nicole Kidman of Lionsgate alone and together with Obama. According to the breeders working on the color they are both genetically red (the only difference is the phoenix mutation).

In the last year thanks to Obama the number of phoenix kittens went up quite a bit:

So genetics are not what determine sex since those who do not have XX or XY chromosomes are still male and female so how exactly is sex determined? Can't be appearance since that isn't consistent enough nor genitalia for the same reason so what is it behaviour? Well no can't be that you already said trans women aren't women. It seems like sex is a thing that is completely binary and certain but we have no way of figuring it out because its binary and gender and sex are same and you know what sex people are because you know what sex people are because of reasons because you know what sex they are.

If you have a Y you're a guy. End of story.

I ship Delenn/Susan, but like, in the alternate timeline of the pilot, where Delenn was a trans woman that presented as male in season one and then transitioned at the same time as becoming human in the triluminary chrysalis.

It puts such a different cast on the scenes where Susan is (mostly offscreen) bathing her, teaching her how to take care of her hair and so on. Idk maybe it goes along with a trans!Susan headcanon, which isn’t something I’ve really thought about but actually I kind of love it.
