Things That People With Kiddos Should Know As Someone With Kiddos

This is by no means an extensive list of things parents/guardians/caretakers should know and take into account when raising and taking care of kids, nor is this telling you how to run a household or parent, however, from my experience, these things can make your life SO MUCH EASIER and make the relationship with your kiddos and you much smoother. I'm mostly going to be focusing on more adolescent-specific topics, but a lot of this advice can be applied to kids of all ages. Some of these things that I mention might work perfectly for you and your kiddos, and some of them might not. Some of them you might have to practice working on or modify them to fit your situation. Not everything on here is golden for everyone, and not everything on here is trash either. What works for one situation might not work for another.

With that being said, let's get to it.

Take your kids clothes shopping in person as much as possible. Make them try everything that they pick on. Kid's measurements are weird and are going to be changing drastically throughout their lives. Find the clothes they like and fit into in person and buy them online for cheaper (or in person. Whatever floats your boat)

Do not waste money on surprises unless you know FOR A FACT that they're going to like it! What does for a fact mean? Well, they've either explicitly stated that they want the item, or dropped some obvious as hell hints! Do not go guessing and buying based on what you think they'll like, or what you like. That's setting you, and your kid up for failure.

Be interested in things they're interested in. Your kid likes Taylor Swift? Cool! Your reaction should be "awesome, you wanna listen to the Era's Tour setlist in the car?" or, "what's your favorite album, let's listen to it together!"

Similarly, if your kiddo creates (art, music, poetry, stories, crafts, woodwork, videos, coding, etc,.) BE INTERESTED IN THAT. Consume their work! Show interest in it! Ask to read their writing, ask to see their art, ask to listen to their compositions. They might not say yes, but make it clear that you want to, and that's something that excites you. This will bring your kiddo joy.

DO NOT. AND I REPEAT. DO NOT. BELITTLE THEIR INTERESTS. Remember: You were once a kid with wacky interests, too. Kids are always searching for validation, whether they exhibit it or not. And even if they aren't? It's just a dick move to make fun of them for something they like.

buy pencils, pens, and notebooks in bulk. You'll need them.

Oh, and sticky notes.

If your kiddo comes to you for help of any kind, academic or otherwise, you damn well help them. "I need help studying for my math test tomorrow," ok, whaddya struggling with? How can I help? Do you just need a body double here, or should I do some problems with you?

give them notes. In their lunches, on their desks, in presents, on the fridge- hell, stick it on their doors! It doesn't have to be anything long- just a simple "morning!" or, "have a great day!" works, too.

Tell them you love them and that you're proud of them. Regularly. I know there are some people who think that makes their kids soft but I assure you, you're doing the exact opposite. By building your kids up, and regularly telling them that you love them and are proud of them, they know that they are valued and worthy and loved. This will set them up for success later in life and make them emotionally intelligent and flexible. Also, kids don't hear it enough these days.

They're going to see some scary shit. You can't avoid it. This past year I had to report three attempted suicides and many more cases of self-harm that came from other peers and people I was very close to. I initially was not processing the fact that someone so close to me was hurting themselves or trying to kill themselves, and the reporting process (sometimes even involving police) was extremely traumatizing. When I finally did cry, it came days later, and even today someone might say the name of one of these people and I will immediately shut down and change my whole demeanor. And I know our kiddos are experiencing these things, so please, be there for your kids and always tell them that telling adults when someone they know is hurting themselves or trying to end their life is important and could save their friends and loved ones.

Be prepared for your kids to have some kind of mental illness or learning disability. Do not try and gaslight them by saying that it's "all in their heads" (no shit?) or that they're "making things up." take everything seriously. "Mom, I think I have adhd," alright, let's see a doctor and do some research. "Tia, I'm so tired all the time and I just want to disappear," darling, that's not healthy, that's a sign of depression- you're important and loved, how about we set up a session with a therapist so you can talk to someone about these feelings who can help you better than I can?

Always be prepared to help your kiddos and reach out to licensed professionals who can help them.

carry snacks with you everywhere. And not that healthy shit, either. Within your kid's eating restrictions, get something like a chocolate chip granola bar or a Reese's cup and stick it in your going-out bag. It will save your life when hungry time comes around.

Don't be surprised if your kids are queer in some shape or form. Support them, love them unconditionally, make sexuality puns as needed ("if you're not dating anyone rn, does that mean you're on stand-bi?") and do your own research in regard to sexuality and gender.

help them get ready for school dances and stuff. Makeup, hair, clothes, pickup lines, the whole ordeal. I promise you they're going to love you for it.

Make the puberty/sex talk a casual yet thorough thing. You want to cover all the information, but you don't want to make it so uptight that they never want to talk about it again or ask any questions. Pull up diagrams, do the whole shebang, but make it clear that they don't have to memorize everything in that very moment. Questions are ok, even after the fact.

Take them to the library.

For all your menstruating kiddos out there, stock up on pads and tampons and anything else they use every month/every other month depending on how much they use. Don't make it seem like a hassle, don't make difficult, just do it without question. If they tell you they like a certain brand or type/size/etc, adhere to that and respect it. Menstruating is uncomfortable as is, don't make it worse by not listening to your kid's needs.

Give them this thing I like to call Cuddle Days (or sensory overload days, or Overstimulated, Get Me Outta Here days). These are the kinda days that can show up on weekends after a long week and basically it's a ton of movies, pillow forts, blankets, and comfort food. And lots of cuddles, of course.

Don't guilt trip them for existing having needs. Your kids are going to need a lot and do a lot and they are grateful, but it just feels weird to express that feeling of gratitude as a teenager.

And, most importantly, let them be kids. Let them have pillow fights, and roll on the grass. Hang fairy lights up and tell them stories. Giggle about their crushes with them, and paint your nails together. Play Mario Cart and eat takeout together. Kids are so complex and amazing and it would be a shame if we took away the part about being kids in the process of them growing up, because one day they're not gonna be our babies anymore.

OCTOBER 2023 WRAP UP

I am getting to this SO LATE, forgive me if I don't say a lot because I have forgotten so much. Work has eaten all of my time and energy against my will (should I get a new job? Probably). Anyways.

The Hourglass Throne - Will definitely need to reread this before the next book comes out (even thought they're all pretty well self contained for a series!) because WHAT? I have only half an idea what's going on, and no idea how to feel about the ending. Do I grieve? Not grieve? ??????? I think book 2 is still my favorite, but these books are addictive and a joy to read.

The Magicians of Caprona - I think at this point it's fair to say that I don't think DWJ could write a book that is uninteresting to read, but this is definitely my least favorite of at least the Chrestomanci books so far.

Realm of Ash - book 2 of the Books of Ambha series; I didn't like the first book in this series, why did I continue? Hope, that it would build on the things in the first book that I actually liked, and bring the sisters back together. It was better, I guess, but not in any way that really made me like it. I wish I'd followed my impulse and returned it to the library without listening.

A Murderous Relation - another Veronica Speedwell mystery, reliably enjoyable as always :)

Small Miracles - This was a DELIGHT. This was a fun romp (I'm told) in the vein of Good Omens, but with small stakes - and small miracles. The fallen angel of petty temptations is hired by an angelic friend to help the most sinless (and miserable) mortal have a little fun. But there's more to it than meets the eye, and the case gets tangled up the mortal woman's niece, pretending to be a school counselor, difficult family relationships, rants about chocolate, and inconsiderate siblings who rudely keep picking the same human gender as you. It's sweet, comforting, very queernorm, and a little romantic (f/gf)

A Conjuring of Light - I finished my Shades of Magic reread! Thank god. I was so thoroughly not impressed with books 2 & 3 this time around - they're just one book, divided in two, and I don't think it was divided in the right spot. It's so disappointing that these did not age with me, but you will also have to pry my copies away from me because they're one of the few books I've ever gotten signed in person (and the original covers are just cool). I fully intend to submit myself to the new spinoff series because hope never really dies lol.

The Twyford Code - This was such a strange and delightful book, that I'm not even sure I'm mad about the twist at the ending, I had such a good time reading it. (past me, listening: wow, this would have made such a cool fiction podcast, right? Joke's on me haha). I did honestly think I'd forgotten what this book was about for a bit, but then I was going through some old kid's books from my grandma that were *exactly* like the series in this book, and I had a big AHAH moment that delighted me.

Over My Dead Body - this was my first/nonfiction attempt at jamming in some spooky-ish books before the end of October. Overall, good. I did learn some new facts and there were some interesting parts; but I didn't always appreciate some of the author's commentary, and when it say's "America's Cemeteries," it really only means its urban cemeteries, which was a bit disappointing.

All Systems Red/Artificial Condition - Murderbot, my Beloved. rereading for the new book, and I'm trying my hardest to NOT do it on audiobook this time - and it's really worth it to read it in text, I promise, even if Kevin R Free's voice still echoes in my mind.

The Saint of Bright Doors - this was such a strange and wonderful read, I am so delighted to have read this, I love an unapologetically weird book. The vibe definitely reminds me a bit of The City & The City, or in some ways The Undertaking of Hart and Mercy; except I had other problems with those books and didn't finish them, but I did like this one. I know this won't be everyone's cup of tea, but maybe give it a shot.

Creatures of Will and Temper - another spooky book, and ooh boy could I go on an entire rant, I didn't want to finish this one but felt I had to for reasons. I'll let you look up the plot yourselves, but picture this: Victorian London, two sisters (one who likes swords!), and a whole lot of queer characters I wasn't expecting. I was delighted! Except you gradually learn every single queer character is involved with this club that has made a pact with a demon. What exactly does that mean? Who knows, because the book does not tell you until at least 3/4 of the way through, and we only have the word of the jacket copy and our sainted demon slayer, who is sketchy af the moment we get him alone. Turns out it's a chill demon who doesn't want blood sacrifice, cool cool, but maybe it should have been thought through a little more? Also the main/only successful romance in the book is between a 17 year old girl and a woman who is at minimum in her 30's, explicitly encouraged in part by the demon. hmm. Overall the writing and rest of the story was just ok, and the ending was disgustingly saccharine and just bad. Would strongly not recommend, but if someone wants my copy you're welcome to it. 2 stars.

From Below - another spooky book, and somehow still the most successful even though I didn't like it much. I almost DNF'd this in the first half, and while I wouldn't say I wish i had, I think my time could have been better spent. But really - if you are diving at an untouched ship wreck, that went missing with hundreds of unaccounted passengers and crew, in an area of the ocean entirely inhospitable to life, shouldn't one of the things you expect to find be human bodies??????? I got so worked up, lol, but once the spooky stuff started I had a better time.

The Game of Courts - new Nine World's novella! I love that Victoria takes the time to explore the various characters in her books outside of the main narrative. Getting to learn more about Conju ourside the current story was much appreciated, even if getting to see an outsider POV of earlier Kip was maybe the main draw. Probably not my favorite of the Lays novellas, but worth reading - and maybe a good starting place for those who are new to the series? Now if only I could get myself to read Derring-Do...

All the White Spaces - bookclub pick that got rescheduled to Nov (more time to reread Murderbot tho, so yay me). The description of this - trans guy on an antarctic exploration that goes wrong - sounded interesting, but it was kind of meh for me in the end. For one I was expecting more horror, but the description of "polar gothic" I've seen since really fits better. I also wasn't a fan of the supernatural explanation, and the whole thing felt hopeless from the beginning, once we got a grasp on the *actual* details of the situation, so I didn't quite know what we were here for. Not my cup of tea.

Hold Fast Through the Fire - NeoG book two!!!! This series is turning out to be very akin to the Tarot sequence in that they not perfect books or 5 stars by any means, but are so fun and addictive to read. This series is space opera, post-post-apocalypse where Earth has two colonies, and the series is about a team in the space!coast guard. Getting into the specific plot of this book isn't actually important, but there's a good 50/50 split on plot vs talking about our emotions!!! I love it, it definitely shows some improvement over book 1, even though I don't know that the author has got the POV's quite balanced out. Jenks is lucky I love her because her drama sure does keep taking over (and I cried so hard for her in this one you guys). Would recommend. Did I mention that almost everyone is queer?

Conrad’s Fate - a good book, but this is also the point where I really started questioning the recommended Chrestomanci reading order. I think chronologically it's book 2? And I'd already forgotten so much from The Lives of Christopher Chant, I do not understand and wish I'd read them chronologically. Much more fun than the Magicians of Caprona.

The Sunset Years of Agnes Sharp - I was SO excited when I saw there was a new Leonie Swann being published in english, even if it wasn't the sequel to Three Bags Full (which I read last year and loved). I was even MORE excited when the book opened and was being narrated by the pet tortoise!!! Alas, it was not to last, I did not get another murder novel narrated by an animal. That being said, still pretty good, it reminded me of the Thursday Murder Club (which I liked less), but probably won't be a favorite.

DNF'S - Graveminder and The Devil and Winnie Flynn were both books I own that I tried to fit in for spooky month that did not work out. Winnie Flynn I admit I dropped almost immediately, the vibes were peak bad YA and I wasn't going to torture myself. Graveminder I tried, because I liked the idea, and it wasn't bad per-se, but something about the way it was executed (and the many many POV's) just wasn't working for me. Might fit someone else better though.

Raw Dog I really wanted to like, because the history of hot dogs and a description/ranking of hot dogs are both extremely up my alley - and I did make it 40% in! But there were just a number of factors building up against this - the author's sometimes very (overly?) sharp commentary, my lack of interest in her dysfunctional life, the lack of any comparative rating system for the hot dogs, the food waste, and the sheer number of bodily excretions used as descriptors for the food finally tipped me over the edge. I could have kept listening but I didn't really want to. Perhaps for someone, but not for me.

Oh hell yeah sure.

So my mobile keyboard is amazing.

This is an EPOMAKER NT68. It's a 65% bluetooth keyboard that I have used to, at this point, write about 80% of the PT Benji AU. It's a fucking joy to use.

I got it on sale from Bezo's Store for about 70 bucks (it's 95 right now). At the time, it came with Gateron Blacks installed but literally like seven of the fucking switches had bent pins and had to be replaced. It came with five spare switches so I was p pissed.

Which, I was fine obvsly because I keep buying switches on the cheap.

Okay but about this specific keyboard:

EPOMAKER NT68

Haimu Whisper Silent Tactile switches (which I LOVE, very good feedback without a ton of sound, great of typing at work)

Cannoncaps CXA Superplum (which is to to date the only caps I have ever paid full price for which I should not have done except they might be my Actual Favorite Profile. this is unfortunate bc they fucking never going on sale, but that special spacebar shape is incredible)

my lil vinyl record player artisan was a gift 8) the maker is 2Tcraft on Etsy

What I love about this keyboard is that

It allows for three BT connections at a time, so i can swap from my phone to my home PC to anything else with two buttons

the sound of it on a deskmat is actually one of my favorite noise profiles of any keeb I've used

it is the most portable keeb without going into weird Nuphy keebs (which I did consider a lot) or going Ortho (which I ALSO considered but this was before Akko put out an affordable Ortho option, god bless Akko)

it has a felt magnetic sleeve that can be folded around the keeb to protect it or into a lil triangle to prop your phone on, which I use all the time. when this thing starts wearing out, I will be very sad.

it fits into my cheapass Vera Bradley crossbody bag so i bring it with me everywhere and I have genuinely used it a fucking lot, like a LOT.

it is a major conversation starter, everyone at work wants to know more about it which is fun.

obviously I had switch issues with the stock keeb and had to swap out some non-working switches, BUT the stock is honestly very good otherwise and the caps it comes with feel perfectly fine. you can use them for a while without issue.

some caveats:

this thing is an investment. i told myself that basically this is what my patreon is for and I saved up for a few months to justify it to myself. i'm glad I did it but also Oof That Pricetag.

the software for this thing is fuckign incomprehensible. i have tried many many times to add some hotkeys to it and fucking forget it. I managed to turn off the lights and that's all I'm doing with it. if you want this for coding and need something very easy to add layers to, FUCKING FORGET IT. go get one of Drop's Orthos instead.

sometimes i type too fast for this thing lmao. it doesn't happen often but like if i'm REALLY going max speed, it will every once in a while (like once in a paragraph) miss a key. I'm fine with this because it doens't happen with casual use.

it is portable but you are gonna need to find a bag for it to fit into. It fits perfectly into a Vera Bradley Sling Backpack, which I picked up on clearance from my local Hallmark store oddly enough.

Greta Van Fleet as…

Greek Gods!!

Josh:

Josh is so Apollo coded like it’s not even funny. He’s amazing at singing, he can play his little tambourine, he writes a lot of the lyrics for the songs Greta makes, and he’s also amazing at drumming! He is quite literally like a ball of sunshine and he’s so talented (as are the other three). You honestly cant help yourself when you see and hear Josh’s smile and laugh. Its a very intoxicating thing and he just brings joy to you. He himself is joy. He’s the sun. His voice is so soothing and beautiful as well! He’s just an amazing and talented soul in general!

Jake:

Jake being Dionysus is honestly so fitting for him. He seems to be the kind of person to prefer wine over any other alcoholic drink. Dionysus was sometimes depicted to be a long haired, feminine youth and Jake seems to fit that position pretty well in my opinion. Dionysus was also said to be a very loud and raucous and although Jake doesn’t really fit that personality wise, he plays guitar and the guitar (specifically electric) is known to be a pretty loud instrument. Also can we not forget Oliver Fuckin’ Reed?? He is so Dionysus coded.

Sammy:

Sam reminds me of Hermes for a couple reasons. First off, Hermes was known to be a cunning and trickster god who was also a thief. And all though Sam isn’t a thief, he’s very much cunning and a trickster. Sam’s super outgoing and his personality is so silly that you cant tell me he doesn’t play pranks on the other three boys almost daily. He has this young soul and aura to him that makes him seem super fun to be around. Another thing is that there’s this mythe about Hermes and Apollo (this olays into Josh being Apollo, yes) that shows how Hermes and Apollo were pretty close with one another.

Danny:

Danny being Eros is something a lot of fans can agree on. At first I was going to put Danny as Poseidon but than I saw that picture of him in the middle and knew that he was Eros. Danny is a beautiful person who just captures your focus onto him and makes your mind wander. He’s pure beauty. Eros was said to be the son of Aphrodite and being one of the most beautiful gods and honestly that fits Danny so, so well. Danny looks like he himself could be a god with how enticing he is. Not only are his looks beautiful but his personality is as well. He seems so sweet and loving and just an amazing person!

Hello hello! I had completely forgotten it was Wednesday, thanks @larkral for reminding me! So curious about your Lego projects 👀

The Like We Had A Clue writing block is still strong, but here's the first sentence of the next chapter, hoping it will be followed by other sentences soon 😂:

This time, Snow swings the door open before I can even ring the bell.

I'm currently feeling a bit overwhelmed at the thought of all the WIPs I have on AO3 (COTTA, CORB, COBB to mention just a couple of them) because I really want to work on all of them, but I'm trying not to beat myself up about it. I know people will appreciate my words whenever they're ready, and I'd rather work on what sparks joy than force myself to focus on certain WIPs and not write anything 💗

Having said this, I'm back at working on 47572 things at the same time! I have so many projects for EGF and I'm curious to see how many of them I can finish. Here's one that's about half done already, so there's hope for it 😂. It's very rough but whatever:

“So you've been spying on me this whole time?” I smirk. The thought makes me feel hot all over. Baz is incredibly handsome, and the image of him looking at me from under my bed…

“Fuck, no! I don’t watch. Not without your consent.”

“Bummer,” I say, and slap a hand on my mouth. What the fuck, Simon? Am I into being watched by the monster under my bed every second of my life? When I get changed, when I spend the afternoon dancing and doing bad karaoke and tripping in the cord of my charger? When I wank? Fuck. I am into it. “I would’ve liked that.”

He stays silent for a long moment. “I guess that could be arranged.”

He should be grateful. I watch all the stupid ads he makes and even click on the affiliate links even though I already know I will not buy a kitchen robot or a set of comfy joggers, not even if I'd get to use #SimonSnow61 as a discount code. I replay his reels and his idiotic TikToks until my eyes blur. I like his posts. I engage with them. I'm basically the reason why he's famous and can live a comfortable life.

And if I went out of my way to find him even on an app not associated with his name or public persona, it's not my fault. It's on him for not hiding himself better.

It's on him for being a fan of the book series that's been consuming half of my thoughts for the past two years.

Which brings me back to the issue at hand.

Snow's slander of the painfully accurate meta I posted last night about how the epitome of heroism and heterosexuality that Soren Cherry is could never fall in love with morally grey, tormented antihero Fangvald Wampyrsen.

This WIP is fun.

🫖 I love tea, I love a cute mug, I love a pretty teapot! It brings me sooo much joy! It's probably the reason I love cold and rainy weather, because more tea vibes! And though I don't like coffee, I so love coffee people! They be having the craziest day and then they just drink coffee and all is fine, like wha????

👁️ I have dark brown eyes and I've been told they sometimes look black. Also, I'm crazy anxious so my eyes always work overtime, making sure I know everything and prepping 10 steps ahead. It's exhausting though.

hello, hello, it's secret sleuth time! i hope that you've been able to rest a bit more this week! it's been a pretty good week for me, not super busy but enough going on so that i don't get bored which is nice.

re: 2x05 -- i totally understand why the crew reacted they way that they did, they were scared and when we're scared we don't think logically. i don't blame them for reacting the way that they did. i do, however, hold them accountable to how they behaved after and the non apologies that they gave nancy. that really will never sit right with me, but hey, that's what fix-it fics are for, right?

you're so so right about long story short, that song really has always made me think of nace. i mean, everything makes me think of nace, but...you know, that one is very nace coded! lol

i'm sorry that the holidays aren't the most fun time for you. i hope that you're able to find things that bring you joy during this time, no matter what it is! i have cookies that i bake every christmas season, so i'm definitely looking forward to baking those, it always feels so cozy when i do! really, during the holidays, i just like finding time to relax and watch holiday movies, and spend time with family. and curling up with a good book whenever possible!

re: 2x05 oh totally, I do understand their fear of dying, it's hard to imagine how a person would react in the same situation! I'd just hoped they'd done a better job of fixing it. I haven't seen many fix-it fics for 2x05, but maybe I need to search harder haha!

Those sound like lovely holiday things to do! Are those cookies included in the SS package? Because I'd totally love some 🤭 I'm not much of a baker, but I have been spending most of my cold era just now by watching Hallmark Christmas movies. It's made being sick like 1% less miserable!

Yay, I'm glad I'm not the only one vibing 🙈 my favourite things... hmm, I love writing. There's not a better feeling in the world than finishing a piece and being proud of it. I also like to read, though I'll admit I haven't been doing it as much as I'd like lately. I love summer! I love that feeling of endless possibility when it's summertime. And I adore the sea. If it were up to me I'd live next to the sea. I also like ballet (watching it not doing it). And yoga (doing it haha). You already know my undying love for TS. I don't really have any other stuff. I am a pretty pathetic person. 😂 I've loved getting into the ND fandom this year. I met some pretty kind and amazing people. Getting the nace endgame was pretty much the highlight of my year.

Hello, Agata. I’ve been a follower for some time and I wanted to ask your opinion about AI art. I remember there was almost a war on twt between artists about this topic.

So you're telling me there were people in the art community supporting AI? Fascinating.

I personally find AI very disturbing. Not only because its algorythm feeds itself with other people's arts, but also because... It sort of takes away the purpose of everything? Idk, I feel like attempting to develop your skills when you know AI will create art in a split second is really discouraging. And it's not only about art, but books and songs too. What will be left to do by us? What should we do with our lives? Where will we get that feeling of fullfilment, that feeling of being needed?

People defending automatization seem to believe that when the robots and artificial intelligence will be really really advanced we won't have to work anymore but I disagree. First of all, for generations we've been taught that you need to "endure" work, that it's not going to be pleasant, that you're only doing it for money etc but I personally believe that people need to work, to create, to grow. People want to create art, write books or codes - those things bring people joy and purpose, and the only thing that's ruining it is always having to worry if it sells, if you'll make it before the deadline etc (in short-capitalistic bullshit). So having AI do that for you takes away joy and purpose of it all. Second of all, thinking that the robots and AI will save us from work kinda means... Equality. If everything what human does machine will do, then how to determine who gets paid more and who less? And by that I mean, corporation owners will never agree to that shit. This technology is being created so that corporations won't have to exploit human workers and ugh, pay them, because they'll have technology that'll work for them. So, poor will be jobless, rich will be richer, and that's how I see it.

And I think that people developing ai don't have any bad intentions and they're also just fascinated by it like many people now because... Science! How fun! But it will backfire just like dynamite. It was made to help people, but in the end it helped people kill each other.

I find this kind of development dehumanising to our species.

[2024/03] Collection Progress

Originally I planned to write this post at the end of the month of March as a way to look back on my collection progress at the end of every month, but it completely slipped my mind when once my irl schedules got busy ; w ; As of writing this, a new event [When Tides Echo] also began at the start of the month (on 04/03), bringing about additional new memories into the collection, so this recap post will cover all of March's progress and the first week of April to reflect the current progress from my screenshots.

As I've previously mentioned in my February post I was missing a few 4-star memories for Xavier. I eventually pulled the lunar 4-star memories [Dreaming] and [Spring Letter] from the wish pool, so now I'm just missing the solar Heartfelt memory pair: [Heartfelt Code] and [Heartfelt Guide] - which can only obtainable through Galaxy Explorer.

Last time I wrote a collection progress post I only spoke about the [Memories], but this time I want to include the [Fun Collection]. This collection includes the rewards gained from our Playtime Dates with the love interest. For those who aren't aware, it's also another way to earn passive diamonds. [Kitty Land] + [Pawsemble] + [Pawfait] are permanent badge series, while [Superkitty] + [Meowstar] are on a rotation. Not sure when those rotational meow badge series will come back. Seems to be a monthly thing with Meowstar series in March and Superkitty series in April. The only badge pack I was able to complete was Zayne's Pawfait. Aside from x diamonds reward there was no other achievement.

Hi quick-catton!! First of all I love your page and I love your personality💕💕💕 I also LOVE Saturn and Felix and Oliver just-😫😫😫 I love it every time you post, it makes my day!! Right now I just really need your help. Today I had to go on another account just to send something to my ask box because since I started my account last year, I’ve gotten nothing and it really hurts.

I love how open and freaky you are in your posts and I’m honestly the same way with Saltburn and an anime fandom that I’ve shaped my blog around. I used to be a little calm and collected but you’re inspiring to just let go and let my freak flag fly but the problem is, with my fandom, I don’t think people are going to be very inviting. Like literally the only thing I wanna do right now is babygirl code my favorite anime character sooo badly but I’m afraid I’ll lose all my followers and when I try to I get no engagement.

Like I wrote three freaking paragraphs about how good he’d look with a navel piercing! That was this morning and I got nothing all day but four likes. No reblogs, no comments, I literally had to make another account and send myself some praise for that post just so I could post it to show people that at least someone else agrees with me.

And I know I should give it time but that’s the problem. Some of my other posts like that don’t grow. They just get five likes and that’s it and it sucks because all I wanna do is engage with people that want to see this boy in lingerie or a skirt or goddamn pregnant (told you I was a freak)

I just don’t know what to do. How do you deal that? I’m honestly this close to deleting my account coz it seems like I’m posting to a blank wall and it’s so embarrassing coz everyone can see it. Sorry this is so long! Thank you for quickcatton 💕💕

WAH ANON ur so sweet omg, thank you?? <33 honestly i feel like i don't have good advice because i only made a tumblr for the first time EVER at the beginning of january!!! i am 23 and had never set foot on this app, but i saw that most of the saltburn fandom was here, so i gave it a shot and i've just been learning as i go.

i think that's half of my 'luck' with having a good experience on this app, is that because this fandom is so fresh, it's super active, but it's also a very small fandom (relative to some others) so we're all kinda like a hivemind here LOL, and because of the source material of the movie itself being weird/freaky/psychosexual, we all know that anything goes and the more freaky the brainrot, the better! i'm in other fandoms where if i said half of the shit i say here, i'd be ostracized, so it's really a case by case basis unfortunately </3

ik i yap a lot here but i also hold back sooo much because even tho ik we're all weirdos here, i still get nervous about putting out my writing or not having people vibe with an idea– you're not alone in that, i promise. it helps forming friendships in your fandoms so you know that there'll always be people who you can get hype over ideas with, but i know that's easier said than done sometimes <3

i don't have advice on engagement because i honestly don't look at that stuff (which i know is so annoying to say lol but it's true); i made this account purely to have a place to dump brainrot/art etc and view other people's saltburn content and i didn't care about engagement, i just got lucky to meet some cool people and make close friends through it.

i think if people can tell you're having fun through your posts, they'll vibe with you! it does take time with the good ol' algorithm, i'm sure, but as long as your page brings YOU joy, that's what matters most. people don't have to agree with your takes, life is too short to be vanilla and water urself down for others :^) making fandom friends and gaining interactions will come along with being yourself, but if posting here and running the account feels more stressful to you than it is fun, it's okay to step away too!

if you're on ao3 and sites like that, leaving comments on your fave works can be a great way to get conversations going as well. i met my closest friend on here bc she stumbled across my fic on ao3 and then sent me a message; it was purely up to chance, but branching out and being brave starting conversations with your fave accounts can be a great way to feel more included in the fandoms you're in and maybe you'll meet cool people along the way!! <33

The Got Under Your Skin stuff is some of the most creative and original whump I’ve ever seen. Also like really flexible/versatile? Like at times it feels incredibly poetic and tragic, and at other times it feels like pure indulgence in whump, and the balance is so perfect. William made Springtrap to be somewhat inspired by himself, He had bad intentions but never acted on them. So more like an intrusive thought 24/7 kind of thing, but how William actually got there was through a dream, a kind of vision if you will, the animatronics stuck in the game with their pain and anger, were getting RESTLESS. But the one that truly brought him through to the dimension of the game was Cassidy. She had been the one to suffer the most being the first victim, they had taken years in the backstory to adapt to life stuck inside. She struggled to move. Struggled to breath, and was stuck for a very long time, so out of pure anger and spite of her creator keeping them trapped like this she thought of a way that they could make William understand her suffering. SOMEHOW, Cassidy managed to make a way through worlds, a portal of some kind (giving me Minecraft portal vibes 😭) (Cassidy had coded the portal herself (I like to imagine she really didn’t know what she was doing but after like hours and hours of work she FINALLY got it) Cassidy taunted William in the dream/vision he backed up. Cassidy knows that she can’t hurt him from his dimension, but if she could bring him to hers, she could. And She PUSHES William through, he stumbles back and falls through (wow, what a nice dream) and then, he woke up, relieved it was “just a nightmare”, but everything seemed way more colourful and well, not like earth at all! He was then stuck in the game, and the only way to get back was through the portal. (Cassidy had more likely gone through and arrived back to where she started, literally having NO IDEA where William was, and thats when she started searching.)

hi!! i'm struggling w/ multichapter fics and want to write one w/o abandoning it lol, so i was wondering if maybe you have a tip or two on how to plan out a multichapter fic?

Oh, bestie. Bestie, bestie, bestie.

I am not the person to ask, because I do not plan.

I vibe.

But, as someone on the journey to not abandon multichapter fics with you, I’ll share what I’ve learned this year!

Know where you’re going. The fics that I find easiest to write are the ones where I already know the climax and conclusion. The big, dramatic endings were among the first ideas I had for Of the Archer and the Dark, all’s well that ends well, and Visions of You. I’m struggling with Hindsight and viciousness & intelligence right now because I didn’t know those things in advance.

SparkNotes. I keep separate docs for each of my fics that contain character descriptions (and I especially document where they may diverge from their canon counterparts) and chapter summaries. In these, I highlight and color-code any foreshadowing, major themes, and loose threads. This helps me keep track of my fic without needing to reread the entire thing every time I want to pick it back up.

Visual & audio aids. I’m a pretty visual person, and nothing inspires me to write again like watching a good movie or scrolling through Pinterest. I just watched Sense & Sensibility (1995) to get back into the mood to write Visions of You. I also listen to a lot of music; right now, “All I’ve Ever Known” from Hadestown has me in the mood to write Feysand, too. Little things like these keep the spark alive with older WIP fics.

Go ahead and write the fun scene! If a scene is nagging you to write it and you can’t stop thinking about how cool it will be, go ahead and write it. I have about seven or eight scenes waiting in a doc for V&I and most of Of the Archer and the Dark’s trials sketched out already.

Take your time! I struggle with this one the most. Did you know V&I used to be updated weekly? Unfortunately, I started a new job and several new fics since then, so that’s just not possible anymore. Sticking to a writing schedule is nice for your own personal development of this talent, but don’t let demands for more fics! now! (from readers or from the mean voices in the back of your mind) guilt-trip you into writing without having fun. This is your hobby; you only have to do it when it brings you joy. For me, that means leaving fics hanging until I’ll enjoy myself when I pick them back up.
