Despite what it looks like, I am in fact ocasionally still writing, I just tend to word vomit about my current obsession and then never finish it.^^° So yeah, my last game that I finished was Fire Emblem Fates: Conquest and it made me go insane, so have a part of my 1k monologue that I wrote for a potential time travel fix it. It is only 5 sentences because 6 would have been awkward, but if I ever get to it again you'll get a lot more.

"They ordered me to kill you but I couldn't do it. I would have ruined everything because I looked at you and remembered cherry blossoms and warm nights. I remembered off key lullabies and larger hands than mine on my back. I couldn't do it. And I think when you looked at me you knew that."

that anon who talked about the Israelis leaving is 100% correct, I would know because I’m South African and this is what happened. This is the racial demographic of South Africa:

Black African at 80.2%, White at 8.4%, Coloured at 8.8%, Indian/Asian

what happened was, after apartheid ended 29 years ago, a huge lot of white people thought that the black people were going to kill them all. “They’re going to kill the boer!” Also, a lot of white supremacists would have rather killed themselves than see POC (especially black people) as equals after everything they had done to ensure that POC would remain in servitude so they left en masse.

White supremacists are the same everywhere, they would rather die than coexist with you, so the Israelis are sure to leave in huge numbers. Instead of focusing on wHaT aRe iSrAeLiS gOiNg To dO”, I would focus on how Palestine is going to focus on citizenship and right of return for diaspora Palestinians, that’s what I’ve been thinking about recently.

yep!! you've said it all. white supremacists would rather die than coexist with the people they've oppressed. that's why the french left algeria, that's why white people left south africa, and that's why israelis WILL leave palestine. yes, some israelis will stay and decide to live with us, but majority of israelis are genuinely racist and cannot fathom staying there with palestinians. and inshallah the world will be our witness to see a free palestine within our lifetimes.

I’m happy for the little life I built for myself

Life as a JGY stan is so hard because sometimes I want to make posts about the ways his very justified paranoia turns against him sometimes, rare moments where I think being more trusting or vulnerable would have helped but he felt like it couldnt, or talk about how his brutal survival instinct intersects with society's existing bigotries in a such a way that most of his violence is actually aimed at people lower on the ladder than him, with people like Jin Guangshan being the exception not the rule. Because he's a fascinating character and these parts of him are interesting!

But when I do that I have to live in perpetual fear of the moment that it escapes its target audience and someone takes it to go "Yeah he's a monster who fucked over everyone and is incapable of love! I wish he was killed earlier and his death was a thousand times more painful 🤪"

I mean, take my last example. Due to existing hierarchies it is, at any point, easier and safer for jgy to harm people less powerful than him instead of more powerful than him, even if the more powerful are the ones threatening his safety in the first place. Even knowing how it harms him and while working against it, Jin Guangyao is not immune to internalizing the mindset of the world he lives in. Even when killing Jin Guangshan- one man- it ends up costing the lives of 20 sex workers. You think I can bring up the sex workers in this fucking fandom? You think that will go over peacefully? The well has been so thoroughly poisoned here it feels like any conversation around morality automatically turns into a courtroom to determine a sentence for this fictional fucking character who's already dead.

Hey everyone! this is where the zebra is currently with the design.

It has knee braces!! I will most probably be drawing the zebra usually with them on, but it’s no requirement, for example if anyone else wants to draw the zebra :-]. I always like to make sure an animal design has official colors underneath any clothing and accessory anyway. I think this will be final! thank you everyone for your feedback!

As a reminder, aside from why the zebra was requested for this flag, this is also just a zebra with the disability pride flag on it. It’s just a deisgn to fit the flag, with input from other disabled people in our community. It doesn’t mean other animals can’t have designs with these colors, too! I don’t mean this design to be the only mascot for all disabled people. It’s just a silly series i do of pride animals, and at the time, during disability pride month, I wanted to see what everyone wanted me to start off with for this flag!

the goal with my pride animals is to take requests and make people feel happy and seen.. that’s all <:-)

pinocchio’s speech abt why his life is so hard compared to other kids, n why he has to suffer the consequences when other kids don’t, keeps ringing to me as like. what it feels to grow up black with this implicit bias against u, where u might be automatically seen as a troublemaker, where u aren’t allowed the same freedom bc the stakes are so much higher if u screw up

*wakes up in a cold sweat* what if the Arrow of Dodona was just an hallucination and Apollo has been basically talking to his subconscious for the whole duration of TOA

on the one hand i really enjoy romantic john/arthur esp. in nuanced ways where it explores like. what does romantic love mean for john, who maybe hasn't experienced it before? what does a romantic relationship look like when the two people involved share one body? what are arthur's feelings about being with another man, and how does the time period he grew up in influence those feelings?

but on the other hand, the fact that canonically john and arthur aren't in a romantic relationship and won't be in the future is very important to me (and i know a lot of other people as well). a large part of it is of course that as an aromantic person, it's so refreshing to have the main pairing in a piece of media be both a) extremely close and intimate with each other, as well as loving one another and b) not involved romantically. body sharing aside, relationships like john and arthur's are rare in media, and it's really nice to know that it's going to stay that way and isn't going to 'take the next step' [derogatory] into a romantic relationship at some future date.

even from a non-aromantic perspective (because i'm not trying to say that either john or arthur are canonically aromantic, just that it's nice that i can headcanon them that way and it fits into the canon narrative), a platonic relationship (and esp. one between two men!) being the main focus of malevolent is a choice i'm really glad harlan made. i'm not going to delve too much into this because his explanation is better than mine, but essentially, two male characters being vulnerable with one another and putting their trust in one another while not being romantically involved is something i definitely think we could use more of in media as a whole.

finally, i wanted to talk about the 'and yet you love him' 'i suppose so' dialogue between arthur and the king in ep. 20. (i think about this exchange a lot y'all--one of the best moments of the podcast imo.) 'love' is such a romantically charged word, especially when used in situations similar to this in other pieces of media. for complete transparency, the very first time i heard this scene, i thought it was meant to be romantic love because that's the kind of weight i ascribed to 'love confessions' based on the precedent set by other media and by real life as well. (i consider this moment a love confession because it's the first time arthur uses that word to describe his feelings toward john, even if he himself doesn't actually say it--literally a confession of love.)

finding out that it wasn't was a 'huh, interesting' moment for me, because i just hadn't really seen anything like it before! there was no precedent! hearing a love confession used in a context like this, where arthur's love for john is narratively important and something that can be used against him but is also platonic, not romantic, just ... it blows me away every single time i relisten to this episode.

in conclusion: i love them <3

DP Side Hoes Week 2024 Master Post

Day 3: Super Danny - domestic/ off-duty

Summary: There's only so much that can be done before there's nothing immediately left to do. Super Danny does his job but is then left with some time to think.

Super Danny considered this particular arrangement, being split between his human and ghost halves,  an absolute advantage. While his other half attended classes and occupied his friends, Super was freely able to protect Amity Park from the villains that plagued it. He was even able to keep the fallout from his normal fights even lower since he wasn’t in as much of a rush as he normally was. Living a double life impacted his ability to be a hero, and by dividing it into two, both halves got to enjoy their portions to the fullest. He could be a full-time hero split as he was, just as he was supposed to be. But… Super had just caught his morning quota of ghosts for a school day, and even returned them to the Zone in record time. His human half was still in class and would be for a couple more hours, meaning there wasn’t anything productive for him to do. 

Super had flown a long, thorough patrol around every corner of Amity Park, but there were no more ghosts to fight. That was a good thing! But it left him feeling unfulfilled. How was he supposed to be a hero without any villains? But heroes helped people in general too, didn’t they?

Super gave himself a new mission until the next ghost attack. With people emerging for lunch, he began helping the people who would let him. Carrying groceries, retrieving a lost balloon, and even searching for a lost cat he saw on a poster, returning it to the owner in record time. He couldn’t find anything to do after that, which left him off-balance. 

A hero’s work never ended, even with the exhaustion already filling his head and the vague feeling of nausea from being separated. He had to keep going. 

Super decided keeping watch would have to do for now. Every hero needed a proper perch from which to swoop down heroically from. He found the highest point and claimed it as his perch, letting his white cap be tugged around by the wind around him. He was Phantom, protector of Amity Park, and he could see his entire town from here. Nothing would catch him by surprise from up here.

However, constant vigilance was hard to maintain as one half of a 14-year old. Super soon found himself becoming distracted in the minutia happening underneath him. He never really got to just… hang around while a ghost. Especially during a school day. The sun was warm, and it was relatively quiet right now, large clouds drifting overhead. He closed his eyes for a moment, letting the exhaustion weigh on him for just a moment. This was what he was trying to protect, right? The quiet, peacefulness of Amity Park, even if he was the one who caused the most ruckus. It was his duty to make sure there were still days like this for the foreseeable future. If that meant never rejoining with his human half, then Super was fully content with this. 

He would do whatever it took to continue protecting Amity Park.

What if: dark(-ish, not too dark idk)!Míriel. What if her urge to create is so obsessive that she needs to make things, make art, to live. And she needs each work of hers to be better than the first. And then she gives birth (in her mind, makes) Feanor and she feels she can never make anything better so life isn't worth living for her anymore. She dies, and then at last when Finwe dies she decides to return to life to make things again because Feanor wasn't perfect, wasn't as good as she thought he would be, though she loved him. He went wrong and she really can make better things so why not live again?

Let Rasputin get mad.

I don’t mean about personal stuff. That’s whatever. He can deal with that on his own time, or not because he has the emotional coping mechanisms of a concussed brick, but that’s not my point. My point is: everything sucks.

The solar system Red worked so hard on is absolutely trashed. Half the factions are here just to fight the other half while Guardians do the rounds for loot. There’s not one but TWO enormous derelict alien warships lying around illegally-parked. The Moon’s fucking haunted! Two moons and a planet are gone! Some anime-ass megamind cosplayer keeps swanning around like they can’t even be bothered to kill us! And his stuff! It’s morning noon and night people trying to use his stuff to do something awful! You can be angry, you can fight back, without invoking the war-for-war’s-sake that Xivu represents. You can defend yourself without becoming violence incarnate. Guardians have to learn to walk that line now or we’re all royally screwed anyway. We have to learn to use it as a tool, same as Stasis, without being consumed by it.

So let him get mad. Let him get furious, at high velocity. Let him address a spread of caedometric ordnance “To Whom It May Concern.” Let us see the anger of a gentle machine. Let the solar system remember who was here first.

(technically the Vex. but you get my point.)
