WIP WEDNESDAY

Here is a little more of No Laughing Matter, the Wisdom Teeth AU that is posting this Saturday :)

Ellen knows what she is doing. Well, she does, except when it comes to this. Henry doesn’t want his wisdom teeth removed. He doesn’t want someone poking in his mouth and taking away his bones. It feels quite odd to say, but they are a part of him. They grew and developed and became his wisdom teeth, and he feels like he needs more wisdom these days, not less. It is too little, too late, though, as the two-hour long appointment has filled a perfectly punctual spot on his calendar for months and loomed over him like some kind of toothless grim reaper coming to collect. All he really wants this holiday season is to not say something he regrets while high on nitrous oxide. His previous experiences with laughing gas have been less than savory. He is a little more than loose lipped when it comes to the drug. He accidentally came out once; the other time he was sharing some stories from college that he would have much rather not ever seen the light of day. He dreads to think about what might come from laughing gas this time around.

for the past week and a half, my gums on the left side of my mouth have been hurting so bad and it felt like i sliced it open somehow ( and my inner cheek has quite literally been split open from the tooth )

just looked at it for the first time in the mirror and oh boy oh boy it’s one of EIGHT :( of my wisdom teeth

i’m not gonna be able to get it out for at least another month and i can’t brush or floss that side of my mouth right so plaque has been building up super fast

THEREFORE

if anyone has any suggestions on how to brush / floss when your wisdom tooth is completely grown in and is out for the world to see ( edit: i checked again and it is only half showing, but i can feel either the rest of it or a completely other wisdom teeth bulging out of my gums ) as well as ways to lessen the pain that would be very wonderful :)

edit: just checked it again but my phone-light and i have discovered that it has a very strong green hue which i don’t need to google to know that’s a very big problem

OKAY!

The first thought that comes to mind is: a character who heals/regenerates has to have their wisdom teeth removed every [time frame] as they keep coming back.

^ Maybe they like to keep them/collect them for fun/to weird others out.

Your stoic characters puts off getting them removed for so long as they don't want to admit to the pain/have a procedure done for something so 'minor'/they're worried about what they'll say under the laughing gas.

^ And when they do, they feel so vulnerable they insist on going home alone to look after themselves. The team/family/a loved one shows up anyway to look after them.

Characters admitting something/revealing someone else's secrets while on nitrous oxide.

Characters admitting to/revealing their own secrets/insecurities while on nitrous oxide.

Maybe your character doesn't want to admit they're in pain and suffer in silence. Maybe eating hurts/they're more on edge.

Complications include: nerve damage, infections and excessive bleeding (NHS)

I'm getting my lower wisdom teeth extracted in June. Does anyone have an personal advice or ideas for the process? I know that I'll have to be very careful and I've read articles about the aftercare. However, personal anecdotes are always welcome.

Thinking about what to bring to the hospital for The Flattening and was reminded that Partner brought me a small, soft blanket to hold after my wisdom teeth removal in September 2022. And when he kept stopping me from taking out the gauze (it hurt my gums!) that I wound the blanket around my head, completely covering my face, and sobbed into it all the way home.

so I got my wisdom teeth removed yesterday and apparently the drugs unleashed my OSHA compliance officer alter ego… also I was refusing to eat apple sauce because it was “too brown” (aka the lights were off)

Got my 4 wisdom teeth removed just yesterday, am in quite a lot of pain today. I'm so hungry but I can barely open my mouth to eat yogurt lmao.

If anyone has any tips for soft/blended recipes to try out during the recovery process I'll gladly take them ! Getting tired of gazpacho and plain yogurt 🥺🧡

Wisdom Teeth Removal Aftermath Comic

Here's a comic I made just before my surgery of my OC already having her wisdom teeth removed, and one of her roses offered her some soft meals to help her recover, in hopes that'll work.

I did this way earlier before my wisdom teeth removal, but had gotten a chance to finish it, so here it is, and finished the texts (I HATE when they won't fit >_<). This was just to express my feelings about the aftermath of the oral surgery. I'm glad that I got back to displaying after my surgery. Well, the swelling still went on. It'll go down soon, as long as I do salt water and all that ^^. And trying to eat as much soft stuff as possible until next week.

This comic is based on how I would feel after the surgery. However, since no pain in the few days, this would be based on the day of surgery. Edited for mistakes, and I actually didn't have my two bottom teeth of the first molars removed, so here is this comic edited.
