Name Predictions for Wikstrom-Etbauer #2
On August 3rd, 2022, Grace (Wikstrom) and Kord Etbauer announced they were expecting their second son together, due in early November 2022. Grace is a close friend of Claire (Spivey) Duggar, the wife of Justin Duggar. The couple welcomed their first son, Grit Wes Etbauer, on either November 5 or November 6, 2021. This means that the couple’s two sons will be only 12 months apart!
Previous Naming Information
Because this is only the couple’s second child, we don’t have a ton of naming information available. All we know is the name of the couple’s first son, Grit Wes Etbauer. It does help that this second child is also a boy, so the style may be more consistent than if it was a girl. Based just on Grit’s name (and Kord’s), it seems that they lean into a country-rancher-redneck-tough-guy naming style. While I hate it, it does seem to fit their personality as a couple. Kord is the son of a rodeo cowboy, is frequently seen wearing cowboy hats, and loves to hunt and fish. I am expecting a similar “country macho” name for their second son. If the first name is southern cowboy, the middle name may be more western rancher.
Preliminary Predictions
This is a prediction that is going to not be very based on hard data at all, but rather intuition and vibes. I’m just going to make a list of some names that I think incorporate the same feel as Grit. I will pay special attention to names that are also nouns, one-syllable, and/or begin with G. Gracie and Kord have not said if they are doing a “G” theme, but I could see them doing that, especially with her name starting with a G. Or perhaps, they will go the Waller route and have boys’ names start with G and girls’ names start with K.

My Final Predictions
Do I have to pick one at all? I think I have a pretty good list that encapsulates their style. It is just very different from my own. Even though I have quite a few two-syllable names listed, I do think the name is probably going to be one syllable. I think my top 5 choices are Stone, Colt/Kolt, Gray/Grey, Boone, and Rowdy. I will include more two-syllable names in my top 10 down below though.
If I had to pick just one though, I’m going with Gray/Grey. I feel like Grace and Kord are definitely the type to do super-duper matchy names for their kids. Or maybe I’m just being optimistic because that’s one of the least bad names on the list IMO.
As for the middle, I’m going with Lee or Wyatt, depending on the first name choice. They are both pretty cohesive with Wes for different reasons. I’ll include a list of ten possible first and middle name combos down below.

They have Grit Wes and Flint Billy. I wonder if they're specifically looking for stone and mineral words, or just single syllables. I've tried to round up possibilities that fit both criteria.

Okay your all getting my xyz future headcannons now because I’m super excited
So Serena and Calem are like siblings
Serena is champion and Calem has continued Augustine’s research on mega evolution seeing if there are more pokèmon who can actually mega evolve
Calem challenges Serena on a monthly basis when he gets bored
She continues to beat his ass (although it’s neck and neck every time though)
Shauna and Serena are engaged
They’ve been together for about 4 years now
Trevor and Tierno are married - been together for 7 years
Calem is still single (he will eventually find the one dw his bi ass will fall in love)
Shauna is the reigning Kalos Queen and know to most as a top coordinator
She also does furfrou trimming in her spare time
Trevor is a science teacher in santalune city whilst Tierno teaches dance at the same school
Viola and Grant are married (one of the first in the league to get married)
Alexa actually took over her sister as the gym leader when she retired early
Viola now just freelances her way through life and enjoy every second of being a bug momma
Grant is still a gym leader and has won plenty of competitions for his climbing
Ramos has fully retired and is living his best life on a farm somewhere in Kalos I like to think
Korrina eventually becomes one of the elite four
She’s won plenty of medals for her rollerblading as well
She’s also starting up her own little tournaments for trainers who want to get stronger
Valerie continues to design, becoming well known across the poke world which means she ends up travelling loads
Bonnie takes over Clemont’s gym when he ends up moving to Kanto for university
Drasna and Olympia are happily married and are living together in Anistar citywith their adopted daughter Marie (she’s in her 20s!)
Wulfric retired and his family live with him in snowbelle his eldest Lucille took up his mantle as gym leader
Siebold retired to travel the world for inspiration (hence why Korrina stepped up to fill his shoes)
Wikstrom now lives in Laverre city with his husband and son (who’ll take on his role when wikstrom believes he’s ready!)
Malva now resides in Santalune city, she’s vibing really no one knows what’s the fuck it is she does but she causes chaos still
Her neice Magda has been staying with her though
Diantha has become a very popular writer, her fantasy series is one of the best selling books
She also directs films from time to time
Augustine is chilling in alola for a while no one in the league knows if he’ll come back

me out here as the #1 Wikstrom fan & simp just on the back-burner these past several years being only one of a small handful of people who have posted and filled his neglected tags on this website.
I wanna see my knight be goofy and silly and so hot and so awesome-- please please please. If there is anyone within Kalos who has ties to the past, I think the man whose family has been knights for generations should hold something of value to the story-- whatever it may be.
I am grasping at straws here, just trying to get ANY form of content of him. I go through his tag every now and again and it's so quiet all the time. on rare occasions I'll see new posts and I get SOOOOO HAPPY. YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND.
Anyways. I hope Legends Z-A is a good game. If Wikstrom is in it, then it's gonna be the best game of the decade.
Genuinely I would be shocked if Wikstrom wasn't in it. I would also be shocked if Looker wasn't in it. Let's be real here. Looker's bureau is located in Lumiose. he HAS to be there.
I am of the belief the game is set in the modern era. I know the 1800s is when France had that whole redevelopment plan for Paris and blah blah blah-- But please.. please listen.. if it's set in the modern day that means I potentially get to see Wikstrom and that is all I need to get through the year until we get more information on the games.
I will be absolutely devastated. DISTRAUGHT if it's not set in the modern day. it's been 3000 years since I was able to run joyous circles around him and battle him with glee.

Mardi Gras History
The origins of Mardi Gras can be traced to medieval Europe, passing through Rome and Venice in the 17th and 18th centuries to the French House of the Bourbons. From here, the traditional revelry of "Boeuf Gras," or fatted calf, followed France to her colonies.
On March 2, 1699, French-Canadian explorer Jean Baptiste Le Moyne Sieur de Bienville arrived at a plot of ground 60 miles directly south of New Orleans, and named it "Pointe du Mardi Gras" when his men realized it was the eve of the festive holiday. Bienville also established "Fort Louis de la Louisiane" (which is now Mobile) in 1702. In 1703, the tiny settlement of Fort Louis de la Mobile celebrated America's very first Mardi Gras.
In 1704, Mobile established a secret society (Masque de la Mobile), similar to those that form our current Mardi Gras krewes. It lasted until 1709. In 1710, the "Boeuf Gras Society" was formed and paraded from 1711 through 1861. The procession was held with a huge bull's head pushed along on wheels by 16 men. Later, Rex would parade with an actual bull, draped in white and signaling the coming Lenten meat fast. This occurred on Fat Tuesday.
New Orleans was established in 1718 by Bienville. By the 1730s, Mardi Gras was celebrated openly in New Orleans, but not with the parades we know today. In the early 1740s, Louisiana's governor, the Marquis de Vaudreuil, established elegant society balls, which became the model for the New Orleans Mardi Gras balls of today.
The earliest reference to Mardi Gras "Carnival" appears in a 1781 report to the Spanish colonial governing body. That year, the Perseverance Benevolent & Mutual Aid Association was the first of hundreds of clubs and carnival organizations formed in New Orleans.
By the late 1830s, New Orleans held street processions of maskers with carriages and horseback riders to celebrate Mardi Gras. Dazzling gaslight torches, or "flambeaux," lit the way for the krewe's members and lent each event an exciting air of romance and festivity. In 1856, six young Mobile natives formed the Mistick Krewe of Comus, invoking John Milton's hero Comus to represent their organization. Comus brought magic and mystery to New Orleans with dazzling floats (known as tableaux cars) and masked balls. Krewe members remained anonymous.
In 1870, Mardi Gras' second Krewe, the Twelfth Night Revelers, was formed. This is also the first recorded account of Mardi Gras "throws."
Newspapers began to announce Mardi Gras events in advance, and they even printed "Carnival Edition" lithographs of parades' fantastic float designs (after they rolled, of course - themes and floats were always carefully guarded before the procession). At first, these reproductions were small, and details could not be clearly seen. But beginning in 1886 with Proteus' parade "Visions of Other Worlds," these chromolithographs could be produced in full, saturated color, doing justice to the float and costume designs of Carlotta Bonnecase, Charles Briton and B.A. Wikstrom. Each of these designers' work was brought to life by talented Parisian paper-mache' artist Georges Soulie', who for 40 years was responsible for creating all of Carnival's floats and processional outfits.
1872 was the year that a group of businessmen invented a King of Carnival, Rex, to preside over the first daytime parade. To honor the visiting Russian Grand Duke Alexis Romanoff, the businessmen introduced Romanoff's family colors of purple, green and gold as Carnival's official colors. Purple stands for justice; gold for power; and green for faith. This was also the Mardi Gras season that Carnival's improbable anthem, "If Ever I Cease to Love," was cemented, due in part to the Duke's fondness for the tune.
The following year, floats began to be constructed entirely in New Orleans instead of France, culminating with Comus' magnificent "The Missing Links to Darwin's Origin of Species," in which exotic paper-mache' animal costumes served as the basis for Comus to mock both Darwin's theory and local officials, including Governor Henry Warmoth. In 1875, Governor Warmoth signed the "Mardi Gras Act," making Fat Tuesday a legal holiday in Louisiana, which it still is.
Like Comus and the Twelfth Night Revelers, most Mardi Gras krewes today developed from private social clubs with restrictive membership policies. Since all of these parade organizations are completely funded by their members, New Orleanians call it the "Greatest Free Show on Earth!"

--idk how yet, but i do vibe with piers & marnie being related to grimsley. their uncle perhaps? when his familys fortune fell, his much older sibling ditched him for galar (trying to make money from their commercialized gym challenge?) and then had some kids there. neither party knows the other well.

--i love that art i reblogged a while ago of larry and juan being related. the difference in personality makes it SO funny. the art had them as cousins but i think brothers might be even funnier (and funny should always win). im thinking they have a sootopolitan parent and a paldean parent. had juan, roughly 10 yrs later had larry as a way to not get divorced, got divorced anyways, and then each one took a kid. they keep in touch tho

A book, and a coffee shop
for @lark-mage as part of the ffxiv swap exchange. In which Ashwin and Aliase have a chat about books
Ashwin had found the book just lying on an otherwise empty table in The Last Stand. It looked like a newer copy-the font was different, the leather cover was a warm shade of reddish brown instead of black, and the pages where much much less worn, but Ashwin would know that insignia anywhere.
Cautiously they picked up the book and traced the cover over with their finger. In the books story it had been a magic key, the thing that the protagonist would carry with her everywhere in hopes of unlocking the secrets of her family history. Ashwin had read it back to front so many times that they could quote it from memory.
They had brought their own copy with them from home. It had been left behind in their quarters at the waking sand. It was probably still there, they hadn’t really had the time or thought to return the Scions old headquarters.
“What are you looking at?” Aliase asked, reaching up on her tiptoes to see over Ashwin’s shoulder.
Ashwin turned towards her, and offered it out. “It’s called the Crystal Key. It’s my favorite child hood books.”
“Oh?” Aliase took the offered book, turning it over in her hand. “I think I remember Urianger reading bits of this to me when I was a kid. How nostalgic. “
“I’ve never taken Urianger as the type for adventure novels.” Ashwin noted.
Aliase’s expression turned melancholy. “He isn’t really. Honestly I think Urianger reads history textbooks for fun. It’s just...this one was Moenbryda’s favorite.”
“Oh.” Another detail about Moenbryda they wished they'd knew. Based on the stories the had been told it was highly likely that the Roegadyn woman would’ve made a good friend.
“It’s a good story.” Aliase said, in an attempt to return to the initial topic. “I like the mystery, although I never quite liked the protagonist.
That caused Ashwin to raise an eyebrow.” Why not?”
“Well she just felt sort of...passive to me.” Aliase explain.
“She was in a deeply unwinnable situation.” Ashwin argued. “I’ve always admired her persaverance against such odds.”
“Maybe I should give it another try then. Do you think anyone will miss this.” Aliase asked gesturing with the book.”
“I haven’t seen anything.” Ashwin said with a wink. “Although now I feel I have to ask: what books did you enjoy as a kid?”
“Oh that’s easy. I adored the Cassopiea Wikstrom books.”
“The teenage girl dective?” Ashwin smiled. “Yes that somehow suits you.”
“Shush. I liked it for the travel and adventure parts. Alphinuad read it for the mystery aspect. He would always blurt out who the killer was before I was done with it.”
Ashwin laughed at that. “You know, I think you kind of remind me of Cassie. You both are very plucky and adventurous people.” Not to mention stubborn, but that detail they chose to keep to themselves. “What was your favorite story?”
“Terror in Doma’s Heart.” She exclaimed without missing a beat.”
“Huh. I don’t think I read that one.”
“Really?” Aliase looked taken aback. “Well we can’t let that stand.” She grabbed Ashwin’s hand and pulled them along. “Come on, I still have all my book at home.”
Ashwin went along with Aliase’s pushing. There was certainly worse ways to spend ones retirement

Excalibur is currently embroiled in a friendly one-on-one with one of the other aegislash of his family. Wikstrom, knowing that the two are safe to duel to their hearts’ content out in the expansive gardens, stands with one foot on the bottom rung of the wooden fence, his arms rested over the top.
“You truly should aim higher, Wik.” His father says, leaning over his shoulder. Wikstrom jumps, turning from watching Excalibur. His father looms over him ( his father is so much taller — Wikstrom inherited papa’s height ) and smiles.
“I do not know what you mean.” Wikstrom says, making sure his gaze doesn’t linger too long on his father’s face. Eye contact may be polite, but it’s also an easy way to be read.
“You completed thy gym challenges rather quickly, in years past,” his father continues on. “And Excalibur could use more of a challenge.”
This again.
“I am needed here, am I not?” Wikstrom says. He already knows the answer.
“You are almost twenty. You have done so much for this family already, and verily you shall carry on the legacy of the Chevalier name quite well.” There’s that look in his father’s eyes, the one that says he’s not going to put this matter aside. “You have a natural talent for battle. That Elite Four man is looking for an apprentice to mentor…”
“I would have to challenge him first.” Wikstrom says. “And win.”
“I believe you would triumph.”
The sound of the dueling aegislash comes to a lull, and when Wikstrom looks back to Excalibur, he’s hovering closer, shield held close to himself. He looks winded — as much as a sentient sword can look as such. Wikstrom reaches out, knocking the front of his shield with his knuckles, and Excalibur makes a quiet cooing noise.
“And I do believe Excalibur thinks so, too. Do you not?”
Excalibur already knows the topic at hand. He makes an encouraging noise, bringing his shield up higher. One swift move and the bottom edge of it knocks lightly against Wikstrom’s forehead, causing him to lean back.
“You truly wish to pursue this?” Wikstrom asks.
Excalibur’s eye narrows at him. As if to say ‘of course, stupid’, he knocks his shield a little harder against Wikstrom’s forehead. This time it actually hurts, and Wikstrom finds himself laughing as he rubs the spot that hopefully won’t bruise.
“Fine, aye, but do not expect it to be easy,” Wikstrom warns, and he turns to his father once more. “And do not expect it to happen so quickly.”
“I have faith in you, Wikstrom.” He says. A beat passes before his father’s arm wraps around his shoulder, bringing him close to his side. “Think not of why most challenge the League, and think instead of how you helped thy friends on their personal journeys. You have potential to do that for many more.”
“You—” Wikstrom hesitates. But he knows. He’s had the same thought — the only real barrier has been the thought of leaving his family behind. The estate, the history — he doesn’t want to leave. Challenging the Elite Four with the intent to be mentored would mean leaving for a long time, and unlike going on a region-wide journey, he would be moving completely. Away. To be closer to the League.
But that’s really no excuse, not when there’s so much good he could do if he were to make it. And doesn't his father already know what would make his heart happiest?
“You are right.”
#🗡 — writing#this concept has been in my head for a few days and i needed to get it out of my brain#i have this hc already that wikstrom was very hesitant to chase the elite four role because he felt like.#a strong sense of duty to his family#and staying with them for his entire life#as the reliable oldest brother#but his family also knows how much he loves battling and how good he is at it#so the encouragement to properly pursue it came from them#and cali. because cali just loves battling#and once that barrier breaks for wikstrom. it's like. he's finally found the thing he wants to do for the rest of his life for Real
