I’m with Duggar Data on this. I love r/DuggarsSnark but they’re being real gross about this whole situation. It makes me want to distance myself from the community honestly.

So Jessa had an abortion then. She terminated an existing pregnancy because the pregnancy wasn't viable. Not a miscarriage. Of course, she'll never admit to that, but that's what this was. She was given the choice between medication abortion and surgical and she chose surgical.

Look, I don’t really want to get into this. It’s true that a D&C, which Jessa acknowledged having, can be used for multiple reasons—including for the termination of a pregnancy, viable or no. It’s also routinely used in miscarriage care when the woman’s body doesn’t pass the fetus naturally, and after birth if part of the placenta is retained.

I’ve heard a lot of speculation that Jessa’s baby “still had a heartbeat,” and therefore she had an abortion. First of all, Jessa has explicitly denied this—

Secondly… Even if the fetus did have heartbeat, Jessa made it abundantly clear in her video that the fetus wasn’t viable. To me, it feels incredibly icky and cruel to force the term “abortion” onto the act of termination for medical reasons (TFMR).

I get it. The Duggars are awful. They’ve lobbied hard against abortion. Their views have made it difficult for many, many women to access D&C procedures—even in situations where the fetus isn’t viable. They’ve advocated to take away the right to choose termination for medical reasons. They’re awful. Their views are disgusting. We’re living in a scary, post–Dobbs world, and it sucks.

All that said… Jessa denied TFMR. She said the baby’s heart stopped long before her D&C. And, even if she’s lying, TFMR is a horrible loss and it feels incredibly, incredibly cruel to me to more–or–less rub Jessa’s loss in her face by using the word ‘abortion,’ and thereby insinuate that this was her choice somehow. It wasn’t. Her baby was unwell, such that it couldn’t survive outside the womb. She didn’t choose that. She never would have chosen that. It’s a tragic loss that is entirely out of her control. Smugly saying: “Ha! You had an abortion!” is both untrue, based on what she has shared, and pointless. And I’m not too keen on pointless cruelty towards those who’ve gone through personal tragedy and loss. Even when I vehemently disagree with their politics.

ETA: The fact that she was offered medication or a D&C is irrelevant, and proves nothing as to the fetus’s viability. Both options will empty the womb whether there’s a viable fetus in there with a heartbeat, or one that has already died.

Welcome to the world Flint Billy Etbauer! I will post an official name reveal reaction soon, but first reactions are that although I didn’t guess the name, I definitely got the vibe. I have to say Flint is at least a little better than Grit. Happy that baby is here safely.

Exact DOB, Name for Etbauer #2

On November 16, 2022, Gracie (Wikstrom) + Kord Etbauer officially announced Baby #2's arrival via Instagram. (Kord previously posted a Story revealing the birth, but not really "announcing" it.)

Duggar Data had been using November 7th, 2022 as the Estimated DOB. Obviously, I'll now use November 8th.

On her Post, Grace revealed the baby's name—Flint Billy Etbauer—and DOB of November 8, 2022. On his Post, Kord shared the DOB, but no name, and also shared the birthweight (7 Pounds, 8 Ounces). As a note, "Billy" is Kord's Father's First Name.

Etbauer #1 (Grit Wes Etbauer) was born on November 6, 2021.

Jill just announced Keller–Rodrigues #2’s arrival. According to her Instagram Post, Baby Newman Christian Keller made his debut on November 16, 2022, 9:39 PM. Nurie had a water birth at a birth center. At birth, Newman weighed in at 6 Pounds, 13 Ounces and measured 20” Long.

Apparently, his name is a tribute to the fact that, once “saved,” a person becomes a “new man” in Christ.

Hannah (Reber) Keller Probably Had Her Baby.

As y'all know, Priscilla (Keller)'s Husband / Anna Duggar's Brother–In–Law, David Waller, is the pastor at Fairpark Baptist Church (Fort Worth, TX). During this week's mid–week service (Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2022, 7:00 PM), Pastor David read off some prayer requests, and then turned to congregation, asking if anyone needed prayer. After one or two requests, a woman takes the mic and says—

"My youngest brother, David, and his wife, Hannah, they’re at the hospital right now, in labor, and it’s been a long process. They’ve been there 24 Hours, at least, so you can be praying. I think she’s at a 6 right now, so she still has a ways to go. But it’s their first, so everything’s new."

Seems obvious this is in reference to David + Hannah (Reber) Keller, who are / were expecting Baby #1 this month. It's probably Priscilla making the request. She definitely attends Fairpark Baptist Church, since her husband is the pastor and all, and David is her brother. It's also possible it might've been Anna... It sort of sounds like her—but, not quite. I think it's Priscilla. (You can't see the woman in the video, which is why we're not sure.)

Anyway... From this, we know that Hannah (Reber) Keller went into labor on Tuesday, November 1, 2022, probably in the evening or the afternoon, was still in labor as of Wednesday the 2nd at 7:00ish PM, and had a long labor. With this information, Duggar Data is putting Keller–Reber #1 DOB tentatively on November 3, 2022—assuming she probably delivered several hours after the prayer request.

For those who don't know who I'm talking about... Hannah (Reber) Keller is the 2nd Child / Only Daughter of LaCount + Maria Reber—Josh's custodians during his pre–trial house arrest.

That's a great question and a fun task for me! I had considered doing predictions for Baby C but decided against it since I didn't think there was any chance we'd find out the name anyway. But let's go for it!

Name Predictions for Swanson-Duggar #2 - Boy

We have speculated that this baby is a boy because of the notable absence of bows in pics we have seen, although it's possible it could be a girl too. I will only include boy predictions in this post.

Previous Naming Information

Josiah Matthew Duggar and Lauren Milagro (Swanson) Duggar share one child together, Bella Milagro Duggar (b. 2019) in addition to this speculated baby boy. Additionally, the couple suffered a miscarriage before Bella's birth, and they named this lost baby Asa. The couple has confirmed they are doing an alphabet naming theme, so this baby's name should begin with C- unless they have lost another pregnancy prior to this one.

Preliminary Predictions

Since we have a clear, confirmed theme, I'll begin by making a list of C- boy names in the top 500 or so on the Social Security list from 2021, the most recent year data is available. I will be excluding Charles/Charlie from the list though because this is the name of John and Abbie's second child. Even though he was born after this speculated SiRen offspring, I don't think John and Abbie would have chosen a name already used by another couple.

I think that gives us a pretty good selection, although there are already some I'd think they'd be much more likely to use than others. I will add another into the mix that wasn't in the top 500 but is Biblical and could still be a contender: Canaan.

As for the middle name, I would say it's pretty likely they would use Josiah's middle name, Matthew. Other contenders might be Dwain or Charles after Lauren's dad.

My Final Predictions

This is a little difficult because the styles and popularity of Asa and Bella are so different. It is nice knowing that there is a definite theme though. I would say the five most likely contenders for the first name in my opinion are Carter, Cameron, Connor, Caden/Cayden/Caiden, and Canaan. However, if Caleb were not the name Michelle had given to one of her pregnancy losses it would be my frontrunner. I don't know if that's enough to prevent them from using it, but it gives me pause at least. Cooper also gives me the same "nicknamey, dog-name" vibe that Bella has.

Overall, I think my top choice is Caden or some spelling variety of that with the middle name Matthew. Here is my list of top ten first and middle name combinations.

Breaking: Jed and Katey might be expecting again

A user on r/DuggarsSnark noticed that Katey pinned a Christmas pregnancy announcement photo to her “Christmas photo” board on Pinterest about 6 weeks ago. Truett is only six months old, so if she found out she was pregnant 6 weeks ago the babies would be only about 14 months apart. Yikes.

Up until Joy's video, we know about 27 GrandDuggars—25 Already Born (Mackynzie to Charlie), and 2 In Utero (Duggar–Wissmann #1 and Forsyth #3). It was also widely–speculated that Siah + Lauren and Joe + Kendra quietly added to their broods this year. Knowing that there's 30 GrandDuggars, and three unaccounted–for, Duggar Data now considers Duggar–Swanson #2 and Duggar–Caldwell #4 to be "confirmed" births. (See This Post for more information.)

Note—We don't know when Hannah is due; however, we can be all–but certain that her Due Date is before Joy's. Joy is due on May 23, 2023, and she announced on October 5, 2022. Hannah announced before Joy, on August 30th. Theoretically, the very earliest one can announce a pregnancy is Day 29. (That's the day the woman would be expecting her period, but it didn't start.) It's highly unlikely Jer + Hannah announced that early... But, even if they did, Hannah's Due Date would be May 8, 2023, which is earlier than Joy's.

If Forsyth #3 is #30, there's 1 Unaccounted–For GrandDuggar—so, let's go over the possibilities for whose child it is or how this can be explained.

Could Joy Be Expecting Twins?

No. Per Joy's YouTube video, her OB confirmed via ultrasound that her current pregnancy isn't twins. Also, if she was expecting twins, Jim Bob wouldn't have described her baby as #30. He would have said #29 and 30, if he knew it was twins, or just #29, if he didn't.

Could Hannah Be Expecting Twins?

No. Jer + Hannah haven't shared much about their pregnancy, but they've shared enough to know it's not multiples. In the Pregnancy Announcement, Jer referenced a "precious little baby"—not babies. And in the Sex Reveal, Hannah wrote: "We cannot wait to meet our sweet baby girl"—not girls, or a boy and a girl, or whatever.

Could Lauren or Kendra Have Had Twins?

Probably Not, though we can't definitively rule it out. The Car Seat Photo featured one car seat, not two; and the Baby On Lap, Stroller, and Nursing Photos featured one baby, not two. That said, we don't have any evidence that proves they didn't have twins.

Could Some Else Be Pregnant?

Yes. And, if they are, they must be due before Joy—otherwise, her baby wouldn't be #30, theirs would. Joy is due May 23, 2023. So, the Unaccounted–For GrandDuggar is due on or before May 22.

Who is the other pregnant Duggar? Well, let's start by determining who is isn't...

Joy and Hannah's Pregnancies are known, so it's not them.

It's not Anna. Josh is in prison, and has been since December 9, 2021. She had Madyson on October 23. Even if she'd somehow managed to get pregnant between October 23 and December 9, she would've delivered by now.

It's not Abbie. She'll be <40 Weeks Post–Partum in May 2023.

It's almost certainly not Jill, since she would've had to conceive again within 8 Weeks of Freddy's Birth.

Irish Twins are rare, even for Predictor Families, so it's unlikely to be Katey or Kendra, who both gave birth in May 2022.

That just leaves Jessa, Jinger, Lauren, and Claire. Out of that group, Lauren is probably the least likely to be pregnant now, since she just had Baby C in or around March 2022. If she gave birth again in May 2023, that would be a very, very short—unusually short, even among Predictor Families—child spacing, which seems unlikely. (Especially in light of the longer gap between Bella and Baby C.)

Jessa, Jinger, and Claire remain. Of those three, Claire is definitely the likeliest candidate, as she's very overdue (~4 SDs) for Pregnancy #1. Jinger is also currently overdue, but less overdue than Claire (~1 SD)—plus, she seems to have jumped off the quiverfull bandwagon. That just leaves Jessa. If it's her, she's early—but, only by 3 Months. (Seewald #5 is currently forecast for August 2023.)

Whoever it is, they probably aren't that far ahead of Joy. Currently, it's Duggar–typical to announce a pregnancy at ~94 Days Along. If there was an announcement today, that would correspond to a May 6, 2023 Due Date. And if they were due on the latest possible date, May 22nd, they won't be "late" to announce until November 18th.

Could Someone Else Have Secretly Given Birth?

(Note—I'm talking about another "secret birth" on top of the now–known secret births of Baby C and Duggar–Caldwell #4.)

Probably Not. This would imply that the Unaccounted–For Grand has been born as of today, November 1, 2022. Right away, we can rule out a number of Duggars—

It's not Hannah. She hasn't been married long enough to be on Baby #2. (She and Jer tied the knot on March 26, 2022.)

It's not Joy. She said that this is Baby #3. If she'd had a secret birth, she'd be on Baby #4, not #3.

It's not Abbie, Jill, or Katey, since they are all <40 Weeks Post–Partum, and we're sure that their latest baby was their 2nd, 3rd, and 1st, respectively. (No chance they snuck in a secret one.)

It's not Kendra. She had Brooklyn in February of 2021 and she's believed to have given birth again in Late May 2022. There's no way that she's given birth again since May, 5 Months Ago. And, likewise, there's no way that she squeezed another pregnancy in between Brooklyn and the May 2022 Baby. There simply aren't enough days. It's not possible.

It's probably not Anna. While it's not impossible, it's a really tight timeline... Like, really tight. She would have had to get pregnant within <7 Weeks of Madyson's Birth, which is completely at odds with her typical spacing. If it did happen, M8 probably arrived in August, maybe Early September.

It's probably not Jessa. She is still active on social media, so it's pretty unlikely that she wouldn't have announced a pregnancy.

That leaves Lauren, Jinger, and Claire. Out of the group, Jinger is probably the least likely suspect. While she doesn't share her girls' faces on social media anymore, she just shared a Halloween photo that shows two toddlers with no infant in sight. As for Lauren, it is possible she's had 2 Children since Bella; however, it would require two really close spacings, since that's 2 Children in 28 Months. As for Claire, it's definitely possible she's had a baby by now. (She got married in February of 2021.) But, is she the type to not announce anything? I'm not so sure about that.

Could Jim Bob's Count Include Annabell?

Probably Not. Jim Bob + Michelle lost their 20th Child, Jubilee, at ~20 Weeks, but don't include her in counting their own 19 Children. Annabell was also an ~20 Week Loss. It doesn't make much sense that they'd count Annabell and not Jubilee, but we also can't rule it out. It's possible, but unlikely, that that's what's going on.

TL;DR—

Ultimately, the most likely answer is that there's another Duggar on the way, due shortly before Forsyth #3. However, we can't rule out the possibility of Lauren or Kendra having twins, or of Anna, Jessa, Lauren, Jinger, or Claire having a "secret birth," or of J.B. including Annabell in the list of GrandDuggars.

Name Predictions for Bates-Webster #5 - Boy

In anticipation of John and Alyssa’s sex reveal for baby #5 happening this coming Saturday, October 29, 2022, it is time for the second rendition of Webster baby name predictions - boy edition! John and Alyssa have been known to announce the name and the sex at the same time, so I want to make sure I get my predictions in in time. I do really feel like this baby will be a girl though, just as a note.

Previous Naming Information

We have lots of girl name information from John and Alyssa, but hardly any boy information at all! The names that John and Alyssa have used for their children thus far, all daughters, are Allie Jane, Lexi Mae, Zoey Joy, and Maci Jo. They also recently got a puppy that they named Mia. As I discussed in my post about girl predictions, they have a very clear naming style when it comes to girls, but there is no way to be sure if that will hold with boys too. We do know, however, from videos on their Youtube channel, that John does not like the idea of having a John Jr. They have also stated that if Maci had been a boy she would have been named Zane Alan Webster. Alan is John’s father’s middle name, and John said it was important for him to name a child after his father.

Preliminary Predictions

If John and Alyssa have said that they would have named their last child Zane Alan is she was a boy, you might say that it’s easy to assume they will name this child the same if it’s a boy. And I would agree with you, if Carlin had not named her son Zade earlier this year. The Bates do have a tendency to repeat similar sounding names (see Kade vs. Zade, Zoey vs. Khloe, and Kaci vs. Maci), but there’s definitely a chance that Alyssa and John could be dissuaded from using Zane. Zane gives me a very “cool-kid-skater-boy-band” vibe so let’s pick out a few alternate names that have a similar feel.

Ace (too close to Maci maybe?)

These names really lean into Xs and Zs and might be a little heavy handed. I could also see them using something slightly more “normal” but still very “cool kid” like Tuck/Tucker, Luca/Lucas, Liam, Chase, or even John’s middle name of Elliott.

For the middle name, I am almost certain it will be either Daniel or Alan to honor John’s dad, probably Alan. Outside guesses include either John or Elliott though.

My Final Predictions

Even after I said that it’s very possible John and Alyssa will not choose to use Zane Alan as the name for their fifth child, I am still selecting it as my highest likelihood option. Other than Zane, I feel the strongest about Knox, Ace, Jax, and Pax. It seems like John and Alyssa are a fan of names containing Zs and Xs. If I'm picking a top contender among my “less edgy” options, I am choosing Liam.

I haven’t written much about the middle name because I'm almost certain it’s going to be Alan. There is the outside chance of Daniel, but almost certainly one of those two. Here is a list of my top ten first and middle names combinations.

Name Predictions for Wikstrom-Etbauer #2

On August 3rd, 2022, Grace (Wikstrom) and Kord Etbauer announced they were expecting their second son together, due in early November 2022. Grace is a close friend of Claire (Spivey) Duggar, the wife of Justin Duggar. The couple welcomed their first son, Grit Wes Etbauer, on either November 5 or November 6, 2021. This means that the couple’s two sons will be only 12 months apart!

Previous Naming Information

Because this is only the couple’s second child, we don’t have a ton of naming information available. All we know is the name of the couple’s first son, Grit Wes Etbauer. It does help that this second child is also a boy, so the style may be more consistent than if it was a girl. Based just on Grit’s name (and Kord’s), it seems that they lean into a country-rancher-redneck-tough-guy naming style. While I hate it, it does seem to fit their personality as a couple. Kord is the son of a rodeo cowboy, is frequently seen wearing cowboy hats, and loves to hunt and fish. I am expecting a similar “country macho” name for their second son. If the first name is southern cowboy, the middle name may be more western rancher.

Preliminary Predictions

This is a prediction that is going to not be very based on hard data at all, but rather intuition and vibes. I’m just going to make a list of some names that I think incorporate the same feel as Grit. I will pay special attention to names that are also nouns, one-syllable, and/or begin with G. Gracie and Kord have not said if they are doing a “G” theme, but I could see them doing that, especially with her name starting with a G. Or perhaps, they will go the Waller route and have boys’ names start with G and girls’ names start with K.

My Final Predictions

Do I have to pick one at all? I think I have a pretty good list that encapsulates their style. It is just very different from my own. Even though I have quite a few two-syllable names listed, I do think the name is probably going to be one syllable. I think my top 5 choices are Stone, Colt/Kolt, Gray/Grey, Boone, and Rowdy. I will include more two-syllable names in my top 10 down below though.

If I had to pick just one though, I’m going with Gray/Grey. I feel like Grace and Kord are definitely the type to do super-duper matchy names for their kids. Or maybe I’m just being optimistic because that’s one of the least bad names on the list IMO.

As for the middle, I’m going with Lee or Wyatt, depending on the first name choice. They are both pretty cohesive with Wes for different reasons. I’ll include a list of ten possible first and middle name combos down below.

Who is the Most On-Trend With Their Baby Names? Bates-Edition

After completing the Duggar version of this analysis, I decided to do one for the Bates as well. This analysis might not be as thorough as the Duggar one though, as so many of the GrandBates have more unusual names or alternate spellings. Following the previous rules, I looked up the popularity of each GrandBates name in the year they were born to see which parents are the most “on-trend.” Rankings outside of the top 1000 were unable to be determined. Only first names were considered for this analysis. For babies born in 2022/2023, 2021 data was used. For Kade and Carson, I included both their legal first names and their nicknames.

Probably unsurprising to a lot of us, Josie and Kelton are the most “on-trend” with their baby name selections. Like we saw with the Duggars as well, there are some couples that have a couple very “on-trend” names, but then others are ranked very low or not at all (see Erin and Chad and Tori and Bobby).

This analysis seems to show that John and Abbie are the most “on-trend” when it comes to naming their children. This isn’t surprising as so far they have picked classic names that have been high in popularity for a long-time. It was interesting to see in this analysis the difference in popularity of names that couples choose for their boys vs. their girls. For example, Josh and Anna’s boys all had names within the top 160 (two even within the top 10), but only one of their girls had a name even found within the top 1000. It was also interesting to see that Jessa and Ben’s name choices varied between top 100 most popular and names that were unranked at all. Overall though, this was just for fun and shouldn’t be taken too seriously.
