🤡 What's a line, scene, or exchange you've written that made you laugh?

I surely think my first two fics, without warning (love shakes my heart) and wanting you now (but that's wishful thinking) are by far my funniest fics, bc I was more careless and uninhibited when I wrote those. one of my fav lines (& one of the only ones that comes to mind) is a classic (it's literally in the summary to wwlsmh):

"So—" he stares at Wylan, hoping, hoping. "Your Ma looks younger than I thought," he laughs a rigid laugh. A laugh that sounds foreign to his own ears.

Wylan stares with an intensity that makes Jesper want to tap his fingers against the wood of the table until the itch he feels vanishes with the constant movement. It wouldn't vanish, though, no matter how much he jostles and roams and frets and fusses — he is just restless, always moving towards something. The kids help the restlessness settle. Wylan's inquiring eyes don't.

"Alys is not my mum," Wylan whispers — once again wanting to preserve Plumje from hearing too much.

"Oh," Jesper feels like he is walking — floating — on the fucking moon. "I thought you were fifteen, top."

"I'm twenty-seven," he pauses, then he smiles to himself with a slyness that shakes Jesper for a sec. "Bottom," he adds, quiet, teasing, a glint in his eyes.

Jesper stares, not understanding why— oh.

🎢 Which of your fics would you call your wildest ride?

I wouldn't call any of my published fics my wildest ride, but if we are talking wips.. oh man! surely prince x bodyguard au both plot wise and planning wise (I got almost close to 100k words before dropping it mercilessly), but also witch wylan au(I love it but I need to be in a specific flow of thoughts mindset to write it, because I'm giving it a specific vibe that rarely comes to me, & from short silly one shot it's getting out of my hands plot wise!)

💋 First kiss fics. Love em or hate em?

I love themmmm!!! I especially love to align with canon in this, and make wylan the one to kiss first and jesper the mind blown flustered one. I love sweet first kisses, emotional first kisses, silly first kisses, innocent first kisses during childhood and drunk, desperate first kisses in adolescence. one of my fav tropes to write!!

That MASTERPIECE of a scene where Jesper and Kaz have a random petty fistfight, and all the other crows literally move out of the way, and then when Wylan tries to get someone to stop them they just shrug and go ‘I mean they aren’t using their weapons let them fight it out’ and THEN Colm coming him and scolding them and both of them IMMEDIATELY stopping

Wylan and Kaz falling through the ceiling onto Van Eck’s dinner party will ALWAYS be iconic

Kaz’s chapters in general are absolutely HILARIOUS, but my personal favorite is when he’s depending on Matthias Not Betraying them, and he thinks something like this:

‘Either he was right and Matthias’ feeling for Nina would prove enough, or Kaz was about to pay for all those talking tree jokes’

The talking tree jokes in question

The initiation ceremony where the tree teaches you the secret handshake

That scene at the start of Six of Crows where Van Eck has Kaz tied to a chair and is explaining what he needs, and then is explaining why he needs Kaz specifically, talking about how his De Kappel painting was stolen which is a really impressive feat, while Kaz is vehemently denying that he had anything to do with it although it was obviously him

Wylan being passive aggressive while Jesper is trailing after him trying to apologize for the Kuwei thing

“Can’t we just enter as performers? I hear Wylan really kills it on the flute”

Inej getting Nina’s cookie jar after she gets back and Jesper being offended that he didn’t get to take some

Nina making fun of Kaz’s haircut

okay finished rule of wolves and i have THOUGHTS..... of which i have gathered..... like sheep i have herded them together. so no it's not coherent. spoilers under cut so abandon hope all ye who enter here

okay….. deadass…… i think my favorite point of view was from the darkling LIKE?!?!?! me before starting this book: HAHA THE DARKLING IS GOING TO DIE FOR THE SECOND TIME!!!!! GET REKT!!!!! me after: His first soldiers were dead now. Lovers, allies, countless kings and queens. Only he continued on. Eternity took practice, and he’d had plenty of it. The world had changed. War had changed. But he had not. but seriously he’s so dramatic and the shit is he says is like. unhinged. i had a blast

zoya deserves so much love and peace and i knew she’d end up queen but this was…. not how i expected it would be. but more thoughts on that down the list

how is jesper going to show up for approximately 14 pages and manage to be the funniest character in the entire book. like he’s got probably 50 lines and each one fucking hits HOW DOES HE DO IT

mayu’s chapters felt very unnecessary and i would’ve preferred to just not know how tamar’s mission in shu han is going until the khergud show up for their ride of rohirrim/knights of the vale moment. maybe leigh wrote it that originally and it just didn’t work? because i can definitely see how insane it would read like all we know about khergud is that they hunt grisha and then all of sudden they’re…. helping ravka?!?!? like it would be really hard to pull off but idk i think all of mayu’s chapters were just. kind of sloggy and the surprise would’ve been fun during the battle

sorry but i still don’t know what the fuck an airship looks like. or what the fjerdan naval base was supposed to look like. the tech in this universe is truly mind boggling

kaz brekker is so in love with inej ghafa. god they make me SICK

okay nina’s storyline…… this is my biggie……………… sigh. okay. nina’s storyline was my favorite part of king of scars and so i was really looking forward to seeing what would happen here. and for the most part i was having a great time!! i love her and hanne (more than i ever got into her and matthias) and i was so excited for jarl brum to finally fucking die. but then the last few chapters. i’m so……….. okay talking about hanne being a trans character (i’ll be using they/them pronouns because it doesn’t feel like a settled issue especially since they talk about not wanting to *be* rasmus, just his body). it makes so much sense for their character and i had HUUUUGE vibes all the way back in kos and i could see it coming here in row. but the way leigh handled their “transition” (???) is not good. like hanne had to kill a cis man and take on his identity to transition and that is such a bad handling i think??? who approved this. but also from a narrative standpoint it GETS WORSE?!?! like how the fuck is hanne gonna pretend to be a PRINCE… what will they do about the king and queen?? and nina remaining mila…… it honestly makes me really angry. that nina would turn her back on her country and friends and family for a LOVE INTEREST…… like her storyline has centered SO MUCH about how much she misses ravka, and in this duology even ketterdam!! like we all realize that when nina focuses on missing waffles or blini *those are symbolic stand-ins for her friends and it’s easier for her to talk about missing food than missing her friends*. like we all know that. and then in the end she says you know what i can PRETEND TO BE SOMEONE ELSE FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE????? and not just a random fjerdan woman literally someone who will be QUEEN OF FJERDA ONE DAY. like an incredibly public position that will put mila under a ton of scrutiny… more than her identity was created for! and nina literally acknowledges that if they got the real mila jandersdat’s friends and neighbors to look at nina they’d know she was an impostor. so what is mila’s village gonna do when they hear mila jandersdat is apparently back from noyvi zem and now engaged to the prince???? i think leigh chose an ending that just doesn’t hold up narratively and logically. like i want nina to be happy and find love but why does it have to be…. not as nina.

my other big gripe is the politics and international implications of everything that’s going on like…… ravka is engaging in some CIA-backed-coups-in-latin-america levels of diplomacy. like fjerda is not just going to have a secret grisha impersonating their prince and eventual king one day, but their queen will ALSO be a secret grisha and RAVKAN SPY???? if nina was ever caught do you know the level of international scandal that would cause??? how the fuck could zoya even let her go off and do this??? it would absolutely be grounds for war and i thought zoya and everybody were TIRED of war. speaking of ravka’s government. guys we LITERALLY DO NOT HAVE TO HAVE A MONARCHY. like i was actually hoping zoya would become queen but like…. because she married nikolai. not because nikolai stepped down and she was appointed. like i was fine with the monarchy sticking around if they never even had a chance to contemplate alternatives but they literally say no………. we choose monarchy. besides the fact that the world is advancing and monarchies don’t last long in technologically advanced societies, zoya is going to have the most unstable reign because of the threat from the lantsovs. like nikolai’s parents are gonna go back to the southern colonies and just be like “our son ended our dynasty and put a grisha on our throne but that’s fine! we shouldn’t try to reinstate ourselves or anything.” demidov is fine with this??? he had a problem with nikolai being a lantsov pretender but zoya just starting her own monarchial dynasty gets no pushback??? like i know nobody wants to end the book/series on such a depressing note but like. a revolution and/or coup is staring zoya in the face. and yeah she’s the motherfucking dragon but um…… so was daenerys targaryen. and ultimately it really feels like the ending of game of thrones where a bunch of noblemen are gathered in one room and they’re like “we have the chance to change the course of our country forever so we will…….. START A NEW DYNASTY!” ….. HUH?!?!!? like when nikolai was like ravka will choose its leader! and the only people from ravka in the room are the landed gentry and peerage. like yeah ravka really got a say in this…. so no nikolai i actually don’t think the nazyalensky dynasty will last that long because with all the threats of being overthrown on LITERALLY ALL SIDES zoya may just decide to say fuck it and give the people democracy so it’s no longer her problem! or she just gets killed. so. anyways if the only known countries in this world are ruled by either 1. monarchies (fjerda, ravka, shu han) or 2. plutocracy (kerch) i can see why literally fucking everybody is moving to noyvi zem. like jesus i would too!

genya deserves so much better she has suffered so much and i know leigh needed to make the war have personal consequences BUT DOES SHE HAVE TO HURT GENYA IN THE PROCESS???? like she just doesn’t get a break. anyways i hope she retires from the triurmvirate and goes to live with alina and mal in keramzin because you know what. they were right. they were right to turn their back on literally everything to do with ravkan politics. genya go join them pls

zoya’s expression of grief and mourning… yeah. yeah that one hurt.

i know everybody’s talking about the potential of soc3 but actually i don’t want that! let the crows be in peace in ketterdam!!!! their biggest threats should be like. getting shanked in the barrel not whatever the fuck zoya will put them through. i hope kaz just ignores her letters and when the Queen of Ravka personally comes to his doorstep he reiterates that he’s RETIRED. and when zoya tries to pull the inej card she pops out from behind kaz and says “i’m on vacation with my boyfriend. we’re good!” LET THEM REST!!!!!!!

so yes these are my thoughts not all of them but many of them. i still really enjoyed it and think it was waaaay better than king of scars (not as good as soc & ck though <3). the problem is that the ending definitely colors your view of everything that's happened and if you don't like the ending... well. it's not even that i didn't like the entirety of the ending i mostly just hated nina's and the implications of zoya's. do not mistake me for a darkling fangirl!!!! anyways the writing in this was really good too and there were more moments that just HIT ME than in kos, which i think i just sort.... breezed through without getting hit in the face by a brick of a line. but this one has so many moments especially in zoya and the darkling's chapters that i'm just like OH!!!!! so that is why i leave you with this:

"Zoya, do you know why the Darkling lost the civil war? How Alina stopped him?" Zoya pinched the bridge of her nose. "No. I wish I did." "Because he always fought alone. He let his power isolate him. Alina had us. You have us. You push us away, keep us at arm's distance so that you won't mourn us. But you'll mourn us anyway. That's the way love works."

First, I want to say that I’ve never read the books (and i don’t plan to either.) This review is focused on the show. Second, this is my personal opinion, so it’s, of course, subjective.

- I think the best way to start talking about this show is talking about the reason why I watched it, Ben Barnes aka the Darkling. As soon as I heard, I knew I was going to watch it because I find him to be a good actor and he’s my celebrity crush. Ben did an amazing job, especially in episode seven. He stole every scene that he was for me, but my opinion in this is extremely subjective. as for the Darkling, he was a great villain. He was charming and scary, had an interesting backstory and his motivations were easy to understand. Do I still think that he deserves to die? Hell, yes. He literally killed so many people with the Fold and I don’t know how people can look beyond that. It’s also interesting that he had a good point in the past, but he went about it in such a wrong way that he is easily the worst person in the show. As for Darklina, that’s a no from me as a ship. I won’t even get in the age gap, power imbalance and Darkling manipulating Alina etc., I will just say that he is the reason she lost her parents and became an orphan. That’s enough reason for me not to ship them. Also, the chemistry between Ben and Jessie was the best in the show. I hate to admit it, but it’s the truth.

- Alina was great. I think she is a great protagonist for the show. Jessie did an amazing job at portraying Alina. I love how she matured through the course of the season, but still did some dumb shit like get in the Crow’s carriage. In my mind, she should have listened to Baghra (idk if that’s her name). I liked to see a rather selfish and reckless protagonist. What she did in the first episode with the maps was deeply selfish (even though she wanted to be with Mal) as it risked all of the cartographers. I’m pretty sure that all of her team died in the Fold while that blonde guy ended up getting shot to death. I love it when protagonists are deeply flawed and I love it even more when selfishness is one of their traits. Other than, I did love that she doubted Baghra at first. It truly showed how much Darkling had manipulated Alina to that point. As for her powers, they were so cool to see and I liked that she didn’t immediately become powerful. It was quite gradual. Also, I can’t imagine what his anger and vengeance is going to do to next season.

- I heard that book Mal isn’t that good, but I also know people can be hyper critical to characters that are good people, especially when it comes to ships and love triangles. In the show, I loved him. I loved seeing his love for Alina, his persistence and his loyalty as well. As for Malina, I found them cute. Archie and Jessie have great chemistry too. With the childhood best friends to lover trope, I’m in between most of the time. Sometimes, I love it, sometimes, I hate it. I like it with Malina. I thought that I’d love it, but the same flashbacks being repeated over and over again, drove me to the walls. They have been friends for years. I’m sure that they have other memories than that. Stop showing me the same ones for eight episodes.

- Genya, my love. I didn’t expect it, but she definitely impressed me. First, her power was just so efficient. I wouldn’t have any of the powers, but Genya’s was the best and most efficient. She was interesting character, funny and I love that she was cool, but also could be very warm. It could make life so much easier, especially for my frizzy hair. I felt bad for her, of course. She was definitely being used by the King (good for her for poisoning him) and Darkling. The fact that she felt so indebted to the Darkling that she followed him no matter what, is sad. Her friendship with Alina was lovely to see (more female friendships please) and her crush on David. Hopefully, we will see more of her in season 2.

- Zoya is such a bitch and I love it. She annoyed me at first with how she acted around Alina, but when she betrayed the Darkling, that was beautiful to see. It’s what he deserved. I also liked that she still didn’t like Aina. She respected her and her powers, but still didn’t like her.

- The ‘Shadow and Bone’ part was done much better than the ‘Six of Crows’ part. The crows were underwhelming at some points despite their chemistry as a group. Yes, they were entertaining to watch, but simply, boring at times too. I hope this isn’t the case of them being overhyped by the fandom. I hope their story gets better in season two.

- Kaz was the most underwhelming character of the crows. I think the writers deliberately made him mysterious, but they made him too mysterious for me to enjoy it. I know he wants revenge for whatever that Pekka Rollings guy did to him. I really hope he steps up in the second season. I liked some moments of him, but out of all main six, he’s definitely my least favourite. As for Kanej, they seemed fine, but in my opinion, their chemistry wasn’t that great. Other couples had better chemistry than them.

- Inej was definitely my favourite crow. She was exciting to watch, especially with how she hesitated with killing people and her faith in Saints. I love seeing badass female character that still hold into their faith, despite their past trauma.I will love to find out more about her and her past. How she met Kaz, what exactly happened to her brother etc.

- Jesper was so funny. He definitely was the funniest character. I love playful characters like him. However, just like Kaz, he lacked depth. I would have loved to find out more about him as well. The writers were holding back with Jesper as they were with Kaz, but I think they were holding way too much. The fight scene with Ivan makes me wonder if Jesper is a Grisha. If he is, I have no idea what kind he is.

- Don’t have much to say about Nina and Matthias other than they had chemistry (second best after Darklina) and I loved their bickering. Excited to see what the show have in store for them.

Can’t wait for the next season. I’ve heard a lot about Wylan and Nikolai, so I’m exited to see them in season 2.

okay, shadow and bone 1-4

look i want so desperately to care about alina and mal and i wanted them to be so much more well-developed than the books and i like jessie mei li a lot but!!!!! i am just not intrigued. like from a book standpoint, i am, to see how it plays out visually, because seeing a book on a screen is always so exciting!, but from a watching this as a show standpoint i am just not interested and the characterization could be so much stronger. alina and mal do revolve around each other a lot but i wanted, a little more from them....... (also why was mal boxing so early????? doesn’t he only do that in the second book) (oh alina almost immediately going through her room looking for something to defend herself with............Excellent)

the racism towards alina is so constant and really not challenged at all???? or if it is it’s very surface and barely of note, like genya doesn’t tell the maid not to say that, botkin’s rebuke of zoya means nothing because we only see him for five seconds, and it’s just piled on and on

in the first episode or so i thought some of the dialogue was.......boring? it’s kind of too talky in some spots??? you know what i mean???? there are spaces early on especially with kaz where i feel like silence would have worked better, and i just don’t think it’s as tight as it could be did make me think a little, was some of the dialogue that embarrassing in the books, cause some of the lines were like, ‘wow i can’t believe a human being said that with a straight face.’

meanwhile, fuck yeah, i expected kaz and inej and jesper to carry the show based on literally everyone saying they carried the show, and their books being the better plotline, and they really do, i love them so fucking much and it’s so delightful to see them!!!!! my children!!!! absolutely perfect. could not have asked for a better cast. i can’t handle them. god. look at them go!!!!! and ketterdam is done so BEAUTIFULLY, all those streets, all those people!!!! it’s so exciting

i do think the crow’s plot makes a lot more sense if you go in knowing them, though, because of all the background details of the club owners, the places mentioned

i was concerned about how they were gonna do the crows and alina but i actually really like how they’ve gone back and forth so far, the transitions between them have been really great and they tie together well and i think the setup for them going to the fold makes sense

the only thing that worries me about seeing the crows this early though is if we do get to an adaptation of six of crows, seeing them get roped into another heist might have less impact and interest because it’s already happened here and it would just be the same thing happening again, which, as much as i like seeing them, makes me feel like they shouldn’t be in this story yet, ESPECIALLY RE: ME SCREAMING ABOUT NINA EARLIER i love seeing them so, so much, but. netflix should’ve just adapted the crows as they were, and made them a little older in their own story if they wanted to

-i’ve only read the trilogy once so i can’t remember if there was the legendary perception of sun summoners before alina but i think that’s interesting -jesper knows kaz knows pekka rollins????? -you know that was not my image of pekka rollins but sure whatev -is that all pekka rollins is gonna do? walk into a scene, beat up a man, threaten him with two options? both scenes played out almost entirely the same

-i think i only ever saw maybe half of prince caspian??? or maybe it was the dawn treader, i have very little narnia knowledge beyond the lion the witch and the wardrobe. but i have really no perception of ben barnes as a human being?????? so he wasn’t quite my image of the darkling either -at least i never saw him as having a beard. unless i missed something. -gonna jump ahead here to king of scars/rule of wolves especially, but. makes yuri having a beard mean less

-hi we’d BETTER see more of poppy eventually especially if poppy was the original owner of kaz’s share of the crow club??????????????????????????? -oh inej has a brother, does she -literally not necessary, inej’s own story is enough without a brother -is kaz too soft? idk. -i will say i like freddy carter’s performance more than i thought i would, though.

-torn between 'everything the darkling says and does is to specifically manipulate alina, he lies constantly or tells enough of the truth to have her and is always trying to like physically box her in with where he stands in relation to her' and 'oh so he just threw his real live actual name out there like that. just. just like that. just like that???? he saves it until the third book but just WINGS IT OUT RIGHT THERE'

-god that goat..................! -with the tiny little goat bleating........................my heart -how’d kaz, get the goat -did dirtyhands, the bastard of the barrel, just pick up a goat and walk off with him?????? probably! good for him!!

-i feel like almost every other character appearance i go 'oh god. don't you die? you definitely die. this is gonna suck.’ -like, good for ivan and fedyor who i’ve barely seen so far, but. are they still gonna die. cause if so. mmmmmm -must there always be the slightly overweight comic relief sidekick who's just in it for the food who definitely dies as well. have we as a society not progressed past that

-i LOVE it when kaz gets to act because it's the funniest fucking thing!!! it's so great!!!! he's so good at it!!!! -will we ever get to see the boy pick a lock, though

-been thinking about matthias lately. been thinking i don't know if i have the energy for matthias -i get the indoctrination, i do -but also, matthias doesn't change his mind because what he realizes what he's learned is wrong. he changes it because of nina. -yeah nina convinces him he's wrong, but he's still not changing because it's right. he changes because nina's pretty -maybe they should've just been friends!!!!

-i love how funny jesper is but i am becoming concerned that jesper, as distinct as he is, is being pushed a little towards, his only use is humor -not quite comic relief but like...........close -like he definitely has a place in the story other than just humor. but, it’s leaning a little

it makes sense. no weird plotholes.

ketterdam feels like a real place.

all the places in the story are based off of real places that’s prob y.

yeah, there is romance, but it’s an addendum to the story, not the whole thing (which makes it more special imo)

it’s never boring or drags

most importantly imo gr8, complex, well-rounded characters ~ EVERYONE has development and growth, no one is perfect, and best of all, no one is whiny or abusive

a queen, too good, too pure

the most beautiful character in this story is in-canon a chubby, bisexual girl

who is never made to feel bad about her weight

who loves herself (and waffles) unconditionally

did i also mention she could destroy us all ~ she is also the most powerful character in this story (a magician called a “grisha”

has an extremely healthy and empowering relationship with 1! matthias helvar (we’ll get to him in a second)

even though they are enemies @ first they become friends and then fall in love and it is GREAT this could have been executed so poorly but it’s actually v cute and fluffy

we stan a reluctant good guy in a crowd of thieves and murderers

originally had some bigoted ideas about grisha b/c he was basically brainwashed to believe they were evil

but he changed and put aside his prejudices to help the squad and nina

it’s amazing how far he’s come - this is proof that even if you were problematic in the past you can redeem yourself now

he loves her so much it’s so cute

he too is a badass-he was specially trained to hunt down grisha

secretly a huge dork but outwardly he’s very uptight (lmao he’s Relatable)

jesper fahey

starts out as escapism at its finest ~ basically he just wants to have fun all the time and avoid his problems

but he learns how to handle himself and that sometimes you have to face your demons to get what you want

makes a lot of mistakes but shows that he can grow and learn from them

did i mention he is a) in canon biracial + bisexual b) in canon dark skinned we love some good representation ayyyy he’s def not a token brown or anything

and everyone’s totally okay with his bisexuality there’s literally no homophobia in this story

has wild fashion taste and likes guns a lot bitchh he dropped out of college to join a gang and escape his boring a$$ farmer life if that isn’t a power move wtf is

definitely the funniest character but that does not in any way detract from his character development

is very much in love with wylan (these two just get cuter and cuter and cuter)

is morally grey and an interesting character without being abusive (like a lot of times in ya *cough rhysand cough* characters that are intended to be just a little bit sketchy are actually A Lot Sketchy and do absolutely unforgivable creepy things and then have a shocking revelation about their past and become Good!Guys with Problems) kaz never becomes “good” but he treats the people he cares about with respect for the most part and his abuse is never used to justify his shitty behavior

I'm loving my new city! We're in a really great location, and there's a lot around us that we can just walk to. My roommate and I have been to DC a few times as well. That's been a blast. There's so much to do and see! And also some really great food!

3. have you ever quit a show before it finished? why?

A few times. Teen Wolf was definitely one (that'll be a recurring theme in these answers). And there are definitely a multitude of reasons for that. Being lied to, my favorite characters leaving the show, the constant addition of new characters I don't care about, completely deleting Danny with 0 explanation, etc. White Collar and Burn Notice were also abandoned midway through. I just didn't like the direction the shows were going, and I lost interest in the plot.

5. what’s your comfort show?

Hmmm this one depends on my mood and the type of comfort I need. My top two go-tos, though, are Leverage and Psych. Leverage is just wildly entertaining, and Psych never fails to make me laugh.

6. which shows do you think are underrated and need more love?

Humans! It was such a great show. I watched it mainly for Colin Morgan, but Gemma Chan is amazing in it. As is Will Tudor. I might not have liked a lot of the plotlines in the last season, but the first season was fantastic.

10. what’s one show you thought you’d love but turned out to really hate?

I can't really think of any right now? Maybe Arrow? I was so excited for a Green Arrow series, but I was immediately turned off by the pilot when I realized it was like a bad take Bruce Wayne in Green Arrow wrapping.

15. do you feel like there are any overrated TV show formats?

I'm not a fan of prequels. It's very rare that I enjoy them because people can't really figure out how to do them right? Like, you can't create dramatic tension in a prequel by making us think they're going to die or have to make a big decision when we already know the outcome of it. It ends up being really boring, and sometimes includes an obnoxious number of references/nods to the original series

20. Netflix, Hulu, or Prime originals?

Netflix. There are a few good ones on Hulu and Prime, but Netflix has more of my favorites (ANNOUNCE SEASON 2 OF JULIE AND THE PHANTOMS, YOU COWARDS)

25. do you prefer proper opening credits, or a simple title card?

This depends on the show and the opening credits. The Parks & Rec opening credits were too long for me to watch every time, and they also get a little annoying when you're binge-watching Brooklyn 99. The Good Place, on the other hand, did the simple title card, and it's so much more binge-able. But then there are shows that have kickass theme songs, and I love them. Psych has an amazing theme song, and when I'm binging it with my mom, we sing along every single time

I think this one is also complicated by the prevalence of streaming and binging shows. If you're watching twelve episodes in one go (especially when they're 30min episodes), you don't really need the opening credits playing over and over and over again. It also eats into the runtime of the show, which is annoying.

30. what’s one show you could probably write a 2,000 word essay on, and what would be your topic?

Teen Wolf. I'm legit going to write a full book on that fandom one day (like not kidding, that's on my list of future research projects) because it was so batshit insane. I just want to chronicle all the weird shit that happened in that fandom.

35. who are your top 5 TV characters right now?

I'm bad at doing "top #" lists because I don't really conceptualize my favorites like that, and it also really depends on my ADHD's fixation at the time I'm trying to make the list. Here are a few that are coming to mind right now: Alec Hardison (Leverage), Inej Ghafa and Jesper Fahey (Shadow and Bone), Shawn Spencer and Burton 'Gus' Guster (Psych), literally all the characters from Julie and the Phantoms

40. is there a show coming out soon that you’re really excited about?

Ms. Marvel!! My roommate and I are super excited about that one, and we're going to binge it as soon as it comes out.

45. do you own any TV shows on DVD?

I have a few--a couple anime and a couple live-action. Sailor Moon (original animation, new English dub), Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, Gundam Wing, Psych, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and.... I think that's it? Probably.

50. what’s one TV cliche you love?

Okay, you know those episodes where everyone has to tell their own version of the same story? That is my shit. The Rashomon Job episode from Leverage is 1000% my favorite example of this. In a similar vein, I love flashbacks when they're done well. The "Office Space" episode of Psych does this phenomenally well, and it's one of the funniest episodes of TV ever made.
