Writeblr Intro circa 2024
Hi writeblr!! Sooo, I've been around here since about 2014. (Yes, I am ancient.) However, I've been dormant for the past 4-5 years. Blame college and a brief stint on Twitter. Now that I'm active again, I thought I should make an updated writeblr intro so ppl know my Deal. Basically, I want to engage with other folks who write fiction (esp original SF), and that's a little easier if I have a clear post that outlines what I do. Here to make connections and hear about your blorbos :)
About me
Hi, I'm Vee! They/them, 23, 💖 🤍 🧡
I do journalism/comms in western New York
My literary jam is feminist/adult SF and gothic lit (OG or modern) 🥀 ⚔️ 🌙
Enthusiastic about gay people, body horror, and sociopolitical allegories
I cook, run, play tabletop games, and occasionally draw. Other than that, I'm mostly writing (for work and for fun)
If you were on pre-2020 writeblr, you likely know me from my eight billion daily tag games. (I still like tag games and appreciate u for tagging me. I have also gained adult responsibilities and better mental health, so I respond very slowly now. <3)
Always happy to get asks or dms, tho as I've noted: I may reply slowly.
Sometimes open to beta read! I only read one longer project at a time, but it's always super fun :)
I tag very consistently – happy to tag triggers for followers/moots
Fun fact: I love mushroom hunting and worked as a mycology TA. #cottagecoreera 🍄 🧚‍♀️ 🌱
About my creative writing
I write,,,, feminist/adult SF with gothic leanings (surprise!)
Longform and short! Trying to do more short writing this year, and I'll likely share a bit on Tumblr. It's easier to clip a short story than a 150k novel, god bless.
The Aesthetic: moral g(r)ays, Victoriana, androids/cyborgs, Women™, monstrous femininity, incessant Hamlet/Frankenstein motifs, extremely boring socioeconomic worldbuilding, evil queens and/or dilfs, psychosexual witchcraft, probably a cat. Also, an ominous, plot-relevant letter laced with anthrax from your unhinged and brilliant ex-wife. Open if you dare.
Major projects
I'm going to be writing some short work this year, but these are the longer projects that I have going in the background. If I reblog blorbo-related text posts, they probably have something to do with these.
Let me know if you want to be added to any project-specific taglists 😎
Heart of Lead – Series
The big one
Perpetually evolving
Never ceasing
Pls send help I can't stop adding shit
5-book gothic fantasy epic that I'll definitely publish one day but probably no time soon! My bastard child, my wicked firstborn, my greatest love <3
Character-oriented political drama set in a pseudo-Victorian, dystopian oligarchy where everyone's heart is made out of metal. It's about coming of age and discovering queer identity in a world that is absolutely fucked. God is an extraterrestrial lesbian who gives ppl very traumatizing magic powers. There are cyborgs, shapeshifters, and morally gray women in STEM. It's tight as fuck idk what else what to tell u.
Book 1 is about achillean monarchists, and book 2 is about sapphic anarchists. There are only two genders, I guess.
At this point, I've drafted most of the books at least once. Working to refine a lot of raw material atm!
Tag: "heart of lead tag" or "hol tag"
Lost Letters – Book
Aka the current active HoL WIP, and book one in the revised series structure
Length: 80k as of now; around 120-140k when the first draft is finished, I presume.
Genre: adult fantasy, gothic, noir detective drama?? um?? If you want me to frame it in BookTok terms (why?) it's a dark academia villain x villain tragic romantasy. Hrgh.
Summary: Cyborg soldier goes to college, joins a shady socialite frat, and falls in love with the jilted heir-apparent to the throne. Hilarity ensues.
(By "hilarity," I mean a militant revolutionary faction and a tragedy of Greek proportions.)
POV characters: Charles (the cyborg), Dale (the heir), and Cecelia (Charles' sister, a junior detective, the love of my life and potentially the Chosen One???)
This book is twisty and dark and immensely fun to write.
I'm about halfway through the first full draft! Hoping to share snippets and vaguepost about my children here.
Tag: "lost letters tag" (also "hol tag," tho that one's less specific)
The Last of Mortal Tourists – Book
The next longform project on the docket!
Length: a standalone work that will hopefully fall on the shorter novel/novella spectrum.
Genre: literary SF, cyberqueer, psychological space quest
Summary: The consciousness of a dead coding genius, trapped inside a spaceship, seeks a new planet to sustain their sister, the last surviving human, after the destruction of Earth.
If you're here to get wildly philosophical about gender and the myth of essential self, this is the story for you! That's why I'm writing it, lol. 🏳️‍⚧️ 🚀 🤖
This one started out as a short story (100% finished) which I want to expand.
POV: Archer Alto, the coder. Spaceship? Human? Soul?
Supporting Cast: Pandora, the last human, and Abby, a holographic impression of Archer's childhood consciousness
Tag: "the last of mortal tourists tag" or "tlomt tag"
If you read all this way, you get a whole bouquet of flowers that are certainly NOT poisonous: 🌸 🌹 💐 🥀 🌺

WRITEBLR INTRO
Tumblr media
— about me
Hii, my name is Kaiati (Kai - uh - tee), but I'd prefer you refer to me as Kai if that's too confusing. 19, 20 in August. Afro-Latinx (Haitian and Cuban). any prns but prefer They/them. Genderfluid. Queer.
This honestly is long overdue, and that's mostly because of my weird obsession with perfection paired with my GAD (anxiety) that I have just been stalking other writeblrs and procrastinating on my own.
I'm an aspiring writer, and my work ranges from speculative fiction. Fantasy, historical, supernatural, sci-fi, ghosts, eldritch terrors. I love it all, typically lgbtq+ and bipoc-centered to mundane romance (I'm a sucker for a good romance). I fell in love with writing after reading Narnia when I was 10???? Still never finished anything. I'm pretty new to this and tumblr in general since I never really was the type to be active even though I have several other old accounts, but this time I'm gonna make more of an effort and promise to be active instead of lurking on your pages, hehe.
— genres I love
Fantasy / Science Fiction / Contemporary / Mystery-Thriller / Folktales and Fairytales / Horror / Gothic folk / Romance ** I also live and breathe angst if I'm not balling my eyes out over fictional characters, then what's the point**
— tropes
found family . rivals to lovers . friends to lovers . opposites attract . sibling dynamics . revolting against the patriarchy (eat the rich!) . sapphic mermaids and other monsters and mystical creatures (monster girls in general) . girls in blood .
Tumblr media
— my writing
...or lack thereof, I have a bunch the most I focus on now are:
Project JOG (all of the titles are wip cuz im lazy)
Captain Sooyoung had always dreamed of proving her worth as a fighter, yet after years of hard work, her achievement resulted in guarding the South Gate and examining merchants and produce. But when her father summoned her to the Capital, her hopes were reignited, only to be immediately shattered as she discovers she is being demoted to the guardian of a traitor, Jiwoo. Sooyoung abhors her assignment; the two women despise each other. However, as they get to know one another, they begin to form an unlikely bond. Despite their growing friendship, Sooyoung can't help but feel suspicious about Jiwoo's anonymous nocturnal absences. Sooyoung must keep her guard up and uncover Jiwoo's secrets before they threaten to destroy her, as well as her kingdom. This is a tale of trust, love, and deception, testing the strength of bonds forged on the battlefield.
Project HML
Jaebeom, a gumiho sentenced to eternal damnation for his crimes. Haunted by the endless suffering of his one true love, Jaebeom is forced to watch her die and be reborn in each of her lifetimes. But all hope is not lost when an unlikely ally presents him with an opportunity to earn his love's freedom. Armed with determination and a thirst for revenge on those who wronged him, Jaebeom embarks on a dangerous mission to find a mysterious scroll that holds the key to his lover's release. However, collecting enough despair to gain favors for his journey proves to be a difficult task until he meets Ada, a young businesswoman with a dark past and an even darker future. Forced to work together, the two soon form a bond that complicates their mission, threatening to derail everything Jaebeom has worked so hard for. Will they be able to overcome their differences and save his lover before time runs out, or will their own selfish desires get in the way?
Project BHA
Coretta's life takes a drastic turn when her younger brother falls ill. Determined to find a cure, she joins forces with a warlock named Lysander on his quest to protect the magic realm. But as they journey deeper into a world of danger and mystery, Coretta realizes that her own inner demons may pose an even greater threat. With Lysander by her side, she must navigate treacherous terrain and face her deepest fears in order to uncover the truth behind her brother's ailment and the secret that threatens to tear apart the very fabric of their reality. From magic spells to mythical creatures, the pair face impossible challenges and unexpected betrayals as they race against time to save the magic realm from mortal hands. But as secrets are revealed, and tensions rise, Coretta must decide who to trust and what sacrifices she will make to achieve her ultimate goal. Will she be able to save her brother and restore order to the magical world, or will her own inner demons ultimately be her downfall?
Tumblr media
— What I'm looking for
More writers to follow!
books and recommendations
Beta readers/Critique Partners for fun ofc (i will also beta read for people if you want!)
Good vibes and friends
I also love and would like to play tag games but bear with me. I'm really shy, so it'll take a while...
I'm sure everyone on here has this problem, but it is really hard for me to finish anything, I get all in my head, and I end up deleting everything and moving on to another project I probably won't finish, but I'm hoping that through being on here and meeting writers and their incredible stories will give me the courage to finish my own.
As you can see, I ramble when I'm nervous but yeah! Excited to be here!!
— I'm also on here

a writeblr intro!
Tumblr media
oops i’m posting it again... tumblr decided i wasn’t cool enough to actually show up in the tags, alas.
🌹 Liv/Olivia | she/he/they | 23 🌹
Hello 🎉! My name is Olivia (feel free to call me Liv)! I am a Black fantasy & romance author who focuses on themes of queer love & longing, sapphic intimacy, generational wounds & complicated familial relationships.
I also spend quite a bit of time creating digital art! A lot of it revolves around my WIPs these days, lol. You will certainly see art on this blog of my characters. Feel free to check out my art blog @lurrkingly, or my art twitter here.
I am always looking for more authors/writing advice blogs to follow! Fellow writers please feel free to interact! I follow, like, and reply from my main/personal blog, @girlfriend-champion :)
I am always open to ask and tag games!
I am tentatively open to critique partners–if we’re mutuals and we have similar reading/writing interests, please feel free to ask! <3
🌹 about my work 🌹
My writing tends to skew towards adult/emerging adult. I LOVE various flavors of fantasy (high, low, urban, action-adventure, Gothic). I like to spend time crafting intricate worlds (lore bibles are some of my favorite things to write) and magic systems.
My favorite works (to write and to read) all include some form of romance. I write romantic love and attraction between all genders, but ladies craving each other carnally is like music to me. LOL. So, some of my work features sexuality/intimacy, but this certainly varies widely from project to project (and I certainly will not be sharing this sort of content on tumblr, for reasons that should be obvious.lol).
I love to include elements of complex relationships in my writing–romantic, platonic, or familial. Human relationships are complicated and messy and awesome and frequently painful–and it’s important to me that my work reflects that.
I try particularly to explore in my work the lives and relationships of queer women of color (particularly Black & biracial women). I am always open to fantasy, romance, and sci-fi recs written by Black authors :)

What other stories do you plan on writing once you’ve finished the Monster and the Butterfly?
ABSOLUTELY!!!!!!
After I finish the current draft of TMATB, I want to do a round of revisions for my gothic vampire horror short story "The Vampire of Shadowed Castle", hopefully in time for a rerelease during spooky season!
TVOSC is a gothic horror short story that follows a young woman, Sorina Dalca, that embarks on a journey to prove to her isolated village that they've no reason to fear Shadowed Castle, a mysterious, old, crumbling, shadowy estate that is rumored to be haunted by a bloodthirsty evil... only to discover that perhaps her village was correct in being afraid... (TVOSC is very heavily inspired by the works from Angela Carter's "Bloody Chamber" anthology, as well as Hammer Horror films!)
The next major WIP I wish to start working on is called "The Faeries and the Lark"! As of right now, it's VERY very loosely plotted, and may be ready to be written! TFATL is a sapphic dark fantasy story that's inspired by the fairytales Sleeping Beauty and East of the Sun, West of the Moon, as well as various aspects of Scandinavian folklore, mythology, and cultures! (Also draws heavy inspiration from The Lord of the Rings shhshsjajaj)
A basic summary of TFATL is as follows: it is told from the POV of the “Three Good Fairies” as they raise the lost princess of a kingdom (known for worshiping the sun) that was slaughtered by a subterranean society of trolls while also keeping her hidden from the worlds of humans, malicious fairies, and spirits. After 18 years, their efforts to protect the princess may be thwarted when another human, the hardened, moon-worshiping Princess Sigrid, enters the faeries' forest. Major themes are identity and the sacrifices of motherhood.
Another horror WIP I've in development is one I've been calling "Ruth," a folk horror story with more LGBTQ+ rep (main character is a lesbian woman). Basically, the story of Little Red Riding Hood meets the Wicker Man meets The Ritual, with themes of environmentalism. Also a lot of influences from Germanic paganism/mythology, and German culture since the main character is from Milwaukee, Wisconsin....a place that was extremely high in German immigration, historically..........and also because I wanna write a story where a character is from Wisconsin, since that's where I'm from.😩🤙
Another WIP I've in development is a short, historical fiction novella titled "Mrs. Maturin," and the plot centers around the very real-life encounter between young widow Leila Maturin and Joseph Merrick, AKA The Elephant Man. Its a basic short story about overcoming inherent selfishness of humanity, compassionate, and being kind, and I like to call it my "Hallmark WIP" because it has the vibes of a cheesy 90s Hallmark movie shsbbsjsjqkkqkq
And THEN there is my WIP "The Boar's Bride." Its currently (er... WAS. I've not written it in about a year, but I DO plan on finishing it!) being written as a fanfiction for NBC's Hannibal, and it's my version if a Bluebeard retelling svsbbjxjxjajajjajakajaja. It's mostly a psychological horror, with gothic elements. TBH, the less said the better for now hdhhdjdjdj
Final WIP at the moment that's in development hell is "The Wolf of Pine Falls". I hope for this to be a 'companion piece' for TVOSC, as this is a werewolf short story when TVOSC is a vampire short story! This is mostly a contemporary, slice of life, paranormal romance that features a middle-aged werewolf that struggles with his body image in a world where younger and attractive men are seen as the 'ideal werewolf' in media (i.e.- Twilight), and he also tries to navigate a romance with a blind coworker. I just also wanna write this to have a werewolf character that defies popular werewolf tropes (such as becoming a bloodthirsty, mindless killing machine on the full moon).
OK WHEW I THINK THOSE ARE THE REST OF MY WIPS???!?!??!?!?!? SO SORRY IF THIS WAS LONGER TO READ BUT YAH ABBSBANAJKAKAKAKK these are other stories I hope to write in my lifetime!!🥺

👻 ✍️ 💥 🛏
👻 Is there a new genre you'd like to write?
Sapphic gothic horror. Gothic horror is not my favorite type of horror (it’s slashers, i know, color you surprised) but I do love the idea of a place being terrifying. I’ve also really wanted to play around with a protagonist that responds to a scary-ass house without fear and what the circumstances of their life might be to make that happen. Idk. It’s hard to explain the idea in an ask but I’m sure I’ll be sliding into your DMs about it later.
✍🏻 Which stat matters most to you (if at all!): subscriptions, kudos/favorites, comments, bookmarks, word count, or hits?
Comments are the only thing that supply my brain with serotonin and dopamine so those, I guess. My brain needs all the help it can get.
I don’t think I care about it as a stat, though. I’m not in my AO3 account comparing the numbers or anything. So I’m that sense, I don’t think any of the stats really matter to me.
💥 Is there a chapter, scene, or WIP you're most excited to write? Share a snippet or tell us about it!
Wait. Are you calling me out about the wall fucking scene!? Because, yes, I am very excited to write that. I’m actually excited about SO MANY of the projects on my docket for next year. I mentioned the Sylvie/Mobius Variant in another ask so I'll share an excerpt from my bartender/blind dater AU with Loki and Mobius because I'm pretty sure I've mentioned it but never shared anything.
Basically, it's a modern AU with Mobius as a bartender working at the bar where Loki takes all his first dates. He's watched Loki have a hundred disastrous dates and, of course, has slowly become low key obsessed with them. I read a book with this premise that was kind of meh so I decided I'd do it better because nothing fuels me like spite.
So this is the excerpt from their first meeting where Loki has had yet another terrible, horrible, no-good, very bad date, that ends with something on fire.
“And who are you?”
Those brilliant green eyes finally fix directly on Mobius and, despite the circumstances and the soot stains, they’re still filled with defiance. And mischief. God, it’s better than he thought it’d be. “Mobius. I’m one of the bartenders.”
Cards close to the vest, especially when you’re playing against a sharp.
“They couldn’t spare someone with any actual power?”
A condescending smirk starts to pull at those lips and Mobius can picture the entirety of its shape before it’s even halfway there.
“Given the literal fire you lit on the premises, you’re lucky anyone is talking to you at all.”
They lean back and gives Mobius a smile, all teeth and charm. He’s always thought there was an implied threat to bite hidden inside that smile, but also the promise that you might just like it.
🛏️ Is there a new trope you'd like to write this year?
This is so stupid but I'm a sucker for marriages of convenience. I don't know if I'll ever actually write one, but it might be fun to try. Sort of similar to the forced proximity vibe of a barbarian AU but I love the "we have to pretend to be in love with each other OH NO" vibes of it. Bonus points if there's a bi/pan-awakening involved.

Vale Weaves - Writeblr (re)introduction
Tumblr media
Hello! I’m Vale and I’m 24. Literature Gay with a degree, working to become a High School Teacher or die trying, very passionate about history and languages. My limited free time is divided evenly between writing and drawing.
My WIPS:
The Gift of Ashes: Fantasy, with a plus side of history and forbidden romance, action and revolution. Very queer!  A tale of Deities and mortals, of love, fate and revolution. It follows the Goddesses Sun and Moon in their forbidden romance as they try to escape the cage of immortality and gain the gift of free will. (#the gift of ashes)
It is said Sun and Moon have loved each other since the beginning of time - kept apart only by their duty to the world they are bound to watch over. But when Moon is betrayed by the very people who sought her help, everything changes… This is the story of what befalls them after they become mortals.
Scio remembers nothing of her past as Moon, and Sun is living in isolation, slowly falling apart for dereliction of duty. Chance has brought them back together, but what once started as a quest to revive Sun’s love for the world soon becomes a race against time: to tear down the cornerstones of a ruling class that uses the Deities’ name to feed fear and obedience into the people’s minds, the two fallen Goddesses will find themselves trapped in the workings of a building revolution.
Scio and Sunon will once again be faced with a choice - how much are they willing to sacrifice for the mortals they serve and whose hardships they now share?
To curse an angel: The mourning rose: first of a three-part series. Set in a rapidly decaying land, it’s more traditionally Fantasy, full of varied mythology, magic and gothic elements.  Its main themes are friendship, love and betrayal, along with moral dilemmas, forgiveness and the power of siblings! LGBTQA+ (#tca: the mourning rose #to curse an angel)
This is the story of three Guardians who spent their immortal lives trying to keep their world from collapsing under the weight of an angel’s curse - or rather, the story of what happens after they fail.
There’s a young demon, whose mind is filled with long-forgotten knowledge and ancient magic he cannot use, running from his secretive caretaker and the terrible power that haunts them and all those they love.
There’s the Professor, grappling with the knowledge that it falls on him to figure out a way to rescue the world. An elf trapped within a puzzling curse that will soon kill him, but who refuses to surrender, and is building a revolution.
There’s the demon Lord’s bastard daughter - the best assassin in the kingdom, little more than a girl - who falls for the elf and his rebellious dream, but who swore she’d be the one to lead him to his destruction.
There’s the shadow of an era before history began, watching the world’s decay with excitement and satisfaction. And there’s Niallen, the caretaker, sometimes a demon, sometimes an elf, sometimes more, who is just about to give up on saving them all.
How to court a demon and start a revolution (a comprehensive guide): my very own webcomic! A slice of life prequel for the above WIP (but both work well on their own). TEMPORARY HIATUS
Bright young demon Anaichi deals with the horrors of service work as he flees from the magician who raised him. Biology elven professor Naeth investigates a curse as he may or may not be falling for his demonic partner in crime with whom he's leading a revolution. Disaster lesbian Telae attempts to wrangle unruly siblings while infiltrating the demonic government. Meanwhile, the world is ending.
And the Nymph sang: A sapphic short story, already published on AO3, you can read it for free! It’s bittersweet but has a happy ending!
Some time long ago, an ancient nymph saved the life of a human child.
Thirteen years after, the child is a woman, and they meet under the shadow of a yew tree.
Their friendship is like a dance, warm and bright and dizzying, but it stretches from mortality to eternity, tearing wounds into the patterns of time. And then it melts into love...

Oo that tea sounds so good~ What's the first WIP you've been able to look at and go "this…could…actually be good??"?" Being proud of stuff is hard so I figured I'd ask a more neutral one!
OOOOO OK!!!!! Tbh, my WIPs The Vampire of Shadowed Castle and The Wolf of Pine Falls (the latter of which is still in development so i don't talk about it all that much sklklkdfldfkldfk).
TVOSC is my homage piece to campy Gothic horror and Hammer Horror films, as well as the Alien films, so that one I focused more on being fun and gory! It's my piece to practice writing horror, so I wasn't trying anything new with the vampire genre, just wanted to make a story that was bloody and spooky! Pretty much a perfect read for Halloween. XD
TWOPF, though, was something i started making out of spite against certain werewolf tropes and the werewolf horror genre, so I felt like taking a more lowkey, contemporary piece that also takes a moment to make commentary about pop culture and body image (for both men and women)! It will also have disability rep (a blind love interest), so this story will have some stuff I'm excited to explore in terms of writing and character study! Unlike TVOSC, TWOPF will definitely focus more on bringing new things to the table in terms of werewolf tropes.
I've also been excited to start working on my more high fantasy story The Faeries and the Lark because I'm excited to try something new with fae since I feel like the YA and fantasy genre has been so oversaturated with fae (or well........creatures that are KINDA fae??? but they're literally just hot people with pointy ears, powers, and SOMETIMES wings????? fucking looking at YOU, sarah j maas) especially in the past 10-15 years, so I can't wait to be more true to source materials and making fae that FEEL like fae!! TFATL will also feature a sapphic and (sort of) polyamorous romances, as well as a focus on mother-daughter relationships and themes regarding identity! Tbh, I'd argue that the themes of this story will have more depth when compared to The Monster and the Butterfly?????? It'll definitely be my next BIG WIP, so AAAAAHHHHH SO EXCITED TO START IT!!
