Actually everyone wants to see Adrien's breakdown over being a sentimonster but I'd rather see the reverse of that because this changes nothing about him. That's something he can show Felix, damn it, it doesn't make the life he's lived any less real and it doesn't make him any less of a person. It doesn't retroactively devalue everything in Adrien's life. The connections he's made with 'real' people aren't suddenly meaningless. Learning about that stupid ring should give Adrien motivation, insight, something to fight for- all the things Felix has, and Adrien can help him with the things he's lacking. They're two sides of the same coin. I'd like the show to actually lean into it for once.

i'm already not sure if adrien's going to find out in the first place but if he is that is 100% how i want it to go as well . i don't want all the effort adrien has put into changing his life since S1 because of the discovery . the reason it works for felix is bc from what we know of his life, there's really nothing there. i've been thinking about the wikipage scene and how that's the only explicit piece of info we have on him - not a throwaway line or something he said or did that can be molded to mean a hundred different things. felix is defined by his archievements, his talent, his intelligence - and if you think about the fandom reaction from the early days of people interpreting him as emotionless, cold and lacking empathy, there's even more of a chance that they intended for it, for felix to be seen as nothing but a scheming machine with no feelings, it's gonna be even more of a big deal to see him break down in the episode called emotion .

adrien is by far one of the most emotional characters in the show and not exactly in a bad way? being a passive character after all doesn't leave much room for ANYTHING but reacting to things and in S4 especially we've seen him be abandoned by everyone, from kagami breaking up with him to ladybug shifting her focus to guardian duties and temporary heroes, along with his father growing more and more distant and nathalie displays more and more symptoms of the same illness emilie suffered from - no one bothers to fill him in on everything and his issue is being left in the dark, and THAT'S the thing !!

adrien bears the burden of not being allowed to know anything and it makes him feel just as helpless and trapped as he once was because he might as well be an image on a billboard, a commercial, a mannequin for the agreste brand that stands there unaware of his surroundings, whereas felix KNOWS and he can't look at the past the same way anymore because he was raised as this child prodigy who is smarter than everyone else and everything always goes as planned - so the moment there's something out of his control, that's what makes him feel helpless and trapped, longing for a way to make things go the way he wants them to, and what better way than to reset the universe to your own liking?

#their perceptions of things are different even though they've been through almost identical events #they both go onto reevaluating their past since their respective parents died so adrien gets to try and break free of his house on his own #whereas felix upon discovering he's a sentimonster is immediately thrown off and is pratically FORCED to adapt to that knowledge #adrien loves the world and wants to experience it . and felix is deathly afraid of what it has coming for him

I can't remember if you said your Adrien is a feather baby or "a real boy"? And if he isn't a sentimonster, what did Emilie make with the broken Miraculous to get sick over?

Look, by the time "Feather/Sentidrien" became canon, I'd already written SL:Adrien fighting back. Dying his hair and threatening to do it again multiple times, going to a crowded museum alone, sneaking out for ice cream with his friends or see a movie (not JUST in "Gorizilla"), hanging out with Nino outside of class despite him being banned from the house and even having an overnight sleepover at a friend's house.

How was I supposed to then reconcile all of that with the fact that at any time, Gabriel could've twisted his fingers and Adrien would've magically been compelled to fall in line? I couldn't even justify it by giving the amok to Emilie because that would be a whole new arc with that nonsense and dealing with all that and would've completely killed any chance at a happy ending for Adrien.

We're all just gonna live with the old fanon- Emilie used the Peacock to be a "hero" back in the day until it killed her.

Five Ways SentiAdrien is a Retcon

Adrien’s a sentimonster now, but he wasn’t always. Here’s a list of things that wouldn’t have happened if Adrien was a sentimonster:

Chat Blanc

Epehemeral shows us what happens in a world where Gabriel Agreste learns his sentison’s identity. Chat Blanc shows us what happens in a world where Gabriel Agreste learns his human son’s identity. If Adrien was a sentimonster in season 3, then Chat Blanc would have ended with Gabriel winning just like he did in Ephemeral. But it doesn’t because season 3 Adrien was a real boy.

Gorizilla

Nooroo: Master, you don't really think Adrien could be Cat Noir?

Gabriel: I don't know. But he's hiding something for sure. Since his bodyguard has failed to keep an eye on Adrien, there's only one way for us to uncover his secret.

Yeah, put on one of the slave collars and say, “Adrien, tell me what you’re hiding from me?” Problem solved! Except Adrien wasn’t a sentimonster yet, so Gabe had to use an akuma instead.

Felix

As of season 4, Felix and Amilie know that the Agrete’s wedding rings are amoks, so why were they so obsessed with getting their hands on them back in season 3? What were they planning to do with Adrien? Why did Amilie think that was a reasonable request? There’s no way that she’d hand over her son’s ring! Easy answer: the twins cousins weren’t sentimonster yet and the rings weren’t that special. That’s why that plot goes nowhere and why Felix’s actions don’t match his actions after they decided that the boys were sentimonsters.

Origins

Adrien keeps sneaking out of the house to go to school and Gabe just yells at him, never using the slave collars. Plausible, I guess, but still hard to buy given how controlling he is. Why wouldn’t he use one of the rings? He already doesn’t care what Adrien wants and Gabe does not get meaningfully more controlling as the show goes on (it’s part of why season 5 completely fails to make him feel worse in my book).

Miracular

Cataclysms drive Sentimonsters insane, but kill humans, so Chat Noir probably should have gone insane here. Along similar lines, the fact that akuma powers work on him like a normal human is super weird because Adrien isn’t a true human. Can he break his bones? Does he even need to transform to fight? Do all sentimonsters have the ability to use miraculous? I have questions that this show will never answer because the answers don’t exist. That would require competent, well-thought-out lore.

Hey, hey, hey - time for a Gabriel analysis!

So. After we learned that Gabriel Agreste wasn't his original name, my mind jumped to Andre Bourgeois, who also once had a different name. In keeping with the themes of the show, we are seeing that secret identities don't always come with masks and comic book names.

We had a hint of Gabriel's secret past in Psycomedian, when Harry visited and alluded to his Gabi days. How, oh how could the Gabriel Agreste we all know have ever been friends with someone like Harry Clown? This is only possible if he was once a different sort of person.

We had further clues in Gabriel's vision of the past, in the time burrow in Evolution - and in Emilie's video messages left for Nathalie, and the photographs of Gabriel, Emilie and Nathalie on some expedition, seen in Passion - and in Amelie's accusation that Gabriel has changed, in Emotion.

Adrien is also aware his father has changed with time, demonstrated when he tells Gabriel that Emilie once said they came from different backgrounds.

The photos shown in Revelation finally gave concrete evidence that Gabriel used to have an adventurous spirit and he used to smile. He was fun...but something changed...and I don't think it was just Emilie's death that caused the personality shift. Based on casual comments Adrien has made throughout the series, his father has been strange for years.

Gabriel tells Adrien that he and Kagami are 'of the same design' - and we know he means this literally. But taking it as a metaphor...for two seasons I've wondered what Emilie's parents were like. We can infer that she comes from a wealthy, 'important' family. Maybe Gabriel struggled to fit in and win the approval of his in-laws. Maybe he never felt good enough. When he tells Adrien things like, 'You're clinging to Marinette because her mediocrity lets you shine more,' perhaps someone once talked like that about him. With that kind of background, it would be unsurprising that he decided to try to forge a new identity.

And let's remember that Gabriel is a designer. His whole empire is founded on inventing personae. Even beyond the sentimonster aspect, he tells Marinette that he designed the image the world holds of his son. Everything is his invention. That speech in Pretension proved just how deep his God complex runs - he fully believes he has made the world in his image. Even the episode title - Pretension - smacks of the image he is presenting to the world in lieu of truth.

At this point, what we're seeing is a 'new money' stereotype - a self-made man who now spurns those who remind him of where he came from. It's one of the most shameful things about him. No matter how much fame and money you get...you can't forget your roots, people. Maybe that's easy for me to say because I'm not rich or famous. But I just can't imagine turning my back on my own origin story. It's what makes you who you are. Gabriel clearly didn't want to be that person anymore...and that's sad.

What's also fascinating is that, if we zoom in on those pictures Nathalie took in Revelation, we see that once upon a time, Gabriel - Gabi Grassette - was a punk. Let's take a moment to appreciate the spiked hair, makeup, leather jacket, ripped jeans, and dog collar - not to mention that smirk. And far from being ashamed of his work with Harry Clown as a human frites (who, by the way, reminds me so much of Mr Banana), he was smiling about it. Man, he loved it. Contrast that with Gabriel in Party Crasher - 'JOY.... What's going on in my HOUSE!?'

If it were at all possible for the old Gabi to meet Cat Noir, I can imagine him loving Cat's costume. On that note, I can't help but compare that dog collar with Cat's bell. I've said before that I see the bell as a symbol of Cat being domesticated and under control. Gabi probably saw his dog collar more as a rebellion, but maybe it too is a symbol of how he once felt controlled by someone.

The thing is...the punk movement was all about anti-establishment anti-authoritarianism. Today, Gabriel is the establishment he once rebelled against. It makes me think of John Lydon of the Sex Pistols turning Conservative and advertising butter. Musicians like Donovan - not a punk, but in a similar category, as a 1960s hippie - are rare for maintaining that same spirit all through their lives.

Gabriel is a 'sell-out'. He gave up that spirit and became someone unrecognisable. Those photos demonstrate that Emilie isn't the only body buried in a 'basement' in the Agreste mansion. There is a different person buried under the cold veneer that is Gabriel - a person Nathalie probably misses. I expect that's why she's stuck with him all this time, despite her better instincts. Something tells me Gabi would've made a better father.

The irony is that Adrien's moments of rebellion are probably one of the few things he has in common with his father, if we look far enough back in Gabriel's past. That, and their temper - and randomly breaking into eccentric dance and song. Gabi might have appreciated Adrien more for standing true to his principles. Maybe Adrien sometimes reminds Gabriel of himself and he can't stand it - can't stand thinking of what he's lost along the way.

I believe Gabriel exists in a perpetual state of regret. Part of him probably misses Gabi, too. After all, Gabi got Emilie. What has Gabriel got? Wealth, sure, but Emilie's dead, Adrien all but hates him, Nathalie's wasting away, and Gabriel himself has only weeks to live.

If you think about it, Gabriel's whole quest has been about getting a do-over. He wants a second chance with Emilie - a second chance for Nathalie - a second chance at his own life. He then tells Adrien that his greatest wish is to try to reconnect with him...because he knows he doesn't have much time left with his son. Even then, though, his selfishness prevails. (Psst, Gabi...you can't make up for years of terrible parenting with banana pancakes.)

Thinking of the snake miraculous, the second chance lets you know what's going to happen, enabling you to make better decisions the next time around. In other words: it's about learning from your mistakes. Gabriel never learns, and it is his refusal to accept destiny and his own human fallibility that is causing his disintegration.

The more Gabriel necrotises, the more we can see this as his 'sins' catching up with him. He doesn't seem to grasp that all the blackness devouring him is, in a way, the blackness of his own heart. Even if he erases the whole world, he can't erase his deeds. If he managed to get his Wish and bring Emilie back, she would be horrified. She'd wonder where her Gabi went.

Gabriel is proof that 'evolution' isn't always positive. He reinvented himself once, and now, because it didn't go the way he wanted, he's trying to reinvent things again. Tomoe also hints at a belief that the solution to her problems is to make the world anew - to get a second chance. Felix tries this, too, when he creates the red moon to wipe out all people except his select group.

But Felix does learn - Ladybug helps him see that even if you erase all the people causing you so much grief...you still have to deal with that pain. What Gabriel fails to see is that - like Cat Blanc on the roof, all alone without his lady - destroying your witnesses won't remove the witness in your own heart.

Even if Gabriel wiped everyone else's memory of his crimes, he would still know what he'd done. And when you cross those kinds of lines, you can never go back to who you once were.

Everybody had expected Monarch's defeat to be a moment of triumph. Nobody had expected Gabriel Agreste, unmasked and mind frayed from continual abuse of the miraculous, crying out to all who would listen and making Paris certain of one thing:

His son, Adrien Agreste, is one of his sentimonsters.

And now he's missing.

Nobody can find him— not even the superheroes, and not even his closest friends. But Marinette, Nino, and Alya aren't ones to give up so easily. They'll find him, no matter what it takes.

(But, geez, would it kill Chat Noir to lend a hand?)

I’m sure everyone saw this one coming. If there’s one thing buggachat’s good at, storywise, it’s capturing raw, tumultuous emotions, frantic breakdowns as the characters desperately try to navigate bad situations. This was a real treat to read, as I’m betting most people reading this will agree, given just how popular the fic has been. It also has a ton of fanart, both by buggachat and by random fans, if you go looking for it (there’s a drowning in plain sight tag which I’d advise perusing).

The Rules of Engagement by @overworkedunderwhelmed

When tragedy sends Adrien Agreste racing back to Paris to run his father’s fashion house, Marinette doesn’t expect much from her very new, very rich boss. At least not until she is set up on a blind date with a very familiar face.

Much to her surprise, Adrien Agreste was hiding far more secrets behind his stoic business-like mask of temporary CEO. Maybe as many secrets as she had been trying to hide for years.

As they grow closer, Marinette fears her mask isn’t nearly as foolproof. Day after day, it gets harder for her to keep all her secrets well hidden from the surprisingly sweet man who insisted on staying by her side as often as possible.

Only she couldn’t afford to fail. Not when her biggest secret could spell the end of the job she’d dreamed about for years.

They might not be superheroes in this universe, but secret identities are still active here. Both Marinette and Adrien used to be involved with the Ladybug and Chat Noir movies, and both kept that a secret - Adrien especially, since if his father found out about it, there could be some bad repercussions, as he voiced Chat Noir without Gabriel’s permission. Marinette, meanwhile, is well known for making cosplay (calling herself “Ladybug” after the movie), and has been in contact with “Chat Noir” for quite some time before the story starts - not that she knows he’s the actual VA.

It’s mostly an Adrienette fic with the two of them getting to know each other after their unusual “first” meeting, where Marinette pretended to be Kagami in order to scupper the date with Adrien and get Tomoe off her back, with some intrigue and drama thrown in. Lila’s skulking around causing problems for the people around her, but she’s honestly not the main focus here.

After a year of dating, there is one thing Marinette knows for certain: it's her and Adrien against the world. Through it all, Adrien is kind, patient, and endlessly understanding—even as she tries her best to keep her secret superhero identity hidden from him along with the rest of the world.

Nothing could ruin it, not even the supervillains of Paris: Hawkmoth and Chat Noir.

This is one of those fics where Adrien and Marinette are REALLY going through it emotionally, with them starting off with wildly different perceptions of each other when untransformed, and then reckoning with the person they love the most being someone they think of as a villain, with all the betrayal and doubt that involves. Especially with Adrien having been lied to extensively by his father, and not knowing who or what to believe.

Miraculous Conception series by @ladynoirfanao3

Summary of the first story, The Power Of Creation:

Everyone knows that Ladybug's cure fixes everything after the destruction wrought by Shadow Moth's akumatized villains. After an akuma with an unfortunate power leaves Ladybug and Adrien in an awkward position, Marinette has never been happier to simply forget. However, she soon discovers that her miraculous ladybugs have a limitation on their curing ability, a limitation that puts her in a situation she never expected to be in.

So basically, Ladybug and Adrien run into each other just as an akuma makes everyone in the vicinity extremely horny, and when they both start remembering things again, they’re in a pretty... compromising position. But it’s just an akuma so they put it out of their heads, until Marinette discovers she’s pregnant and has to decide what to do about it, whether to keep the pregnancy, tell Adrien she’s Ladybug and is having his baby, what to do with the earrings when she’s too pregnant to be Ladybug, etc.

I really enjoyed it! Just watching Ladybug and Adrien try and navigate the situation, especially with secret identities thrown into the mix.

The main fics in the series are basically the same story, it’s just that the first one is from Marinette’s perspective, while the second one is from Adrien’s. The Power of Creation is rated M while the Power of Destruction is rated E, but for both fics it’s just rated that for a single sex scene that occurs in the fic (with it being the same sex scene in both fics, just told from two different perspectives).

I Put A Spell On You by dazaimaru

Friday, October 25. 6 days until Halloween.

It’s their first high school Halloween dance, and Marinette and Adrien are ready to throw on some non-superhero costumes for once--that is, until an akumatized witch spoils the party and threatens to reveal what lies underneath everyone’s disguise.

With Hawkmoth taking full advantage of the spooky season, the days leading up to Halloween are certainly going to be thrilling! Especially considering Marinette’s growing feelings for a certain black cat…

This one’s mostly just some really cute Lovesquare shenanigans around Halloween, with some really fun sequences like Marinette and Adrien getting body-swapped and Marinette temporarily becoming a vampire (and also Marinette repeatedly stunning Adrien with her outfits. I was just waiting for him to pass out from blood loss from a nosebleed).

Through the Looking Glass by @jheqiawrites

Adrien is a lonely child, cut off from the outside world by his parent's strict rules. But when he discovers a window in his closet and sees a young girl looking back at him like his reflection, maybe he has hope for friendship after all.

Poor Adrien here, he makes a long-time friend (who everyone thinks is an imaginary friend), and has several great years interacting with her as his parents grow more concerned with him not growing out of it... and then Emilie dies, Gabriel orders the window destroyed, Adrien’s put on medication to suppress his “hallucinations” (which also makes him forget Marinette) and he’s just kind of left like that for the next several years, until he’s an adult.

Luckily, while Adrien forgot Marinette, Marinette never forgot him, and he’s not too difficult to track down...

Fate, Destiny... A Hamster by @mostmagical

After finally moving into his very first apartment per Ladybug’s suggestion, Adrien discovers something no movie or TV show could have ever prepared him for: someone else's hamster.

Marinette was so excited to have her first pet. If only it would stop escaping!

At least now there’s an excuse to talk to the new neighbor.

Funnily enough, this is based on a true story. Specifically, the author’s own experience of having her hamster run out and be found by a neighbor.

Anyway, this is adorable! Marinette and Adrien become smitten with each other extremely quickly, with Marinette’s hamster keeping giving them reasons to talk. Very effective wing-hamster, that one XD.

Oh yeah, absolutely! Adrien used to sneak out all the time, now he’s obeying curfew? Does whatever his dad says? Right away? Cannot say no? Gabe tells Adrien to be quiet and his jaw snaps shut and almost cuts his tongue in half? Nino's pulling out a conspiracy board, because what kind of Ella Enchanted bullshit is this!?

YEAH IT'S

Adrien was /introduced/ to us by going against what his father wanted, sneaking out and enrolling himself in public school! And it's. It's.

The thing about writing is that your first scene with a character is supposed to be a introduction to the core parts of their personality! Adrien's first act is one of rebellion against his father!

And there's several episodes where he sneaks out! Either out of the house or away from his obligations as Adrien! He leaves fencing practice in Copycat! He sneaks out to mope in the Christmas Special! He sneaks out to the theatre in Gorizilla! He lies about school being out early in Reflektdoll so he doesn't have to be home yet! He dodged fencing again in Desperada! He threw a house party in Party Crasher(technically spurred by the others but he had little issue with it)!

And that's just the ones we know about! By the way, other than /debatably/ Copycat, none of these were because 'oh god Akuma that's an emergency!' it was purely for himself. (Copycat didn't have an Akuma emergency, he just wanted to show up to the statue unveiling as Chat.)

Kagami had a lot less screentime, but we see her doing the same thing, some of it even spurred on by Adrien! She also skips fencing class in Desperada! Ikari Gozen has her not just disobeying her mother, but doing so very purposely by recording her voice to trick the self-driving car! Lies is interesting because she tries to do the same thing that Adrien did in Desperada of ditching fencing, but she hasn't been retconned into a Sentimonster yet while he has, so Adrien is acting super anxietied of 'oh no this is a bad thing we're being disobedient!'

Sentimonsters are an allegory for abuse.

Think about it. This is a kids show. It's really difficult to portrait abuse in children media, because not every case of abuse is the same.

But do you know what kids do know?

Emotions

And a sentimonsters is a creation based on an emotion. A simple concept, right?

Ok, then how parents usually explain how a kid is conceived?

Mommy and Daddy loved each other and you were born

Gabriel and Emilie also loved each other. Adrien was planned to be conceived out of their love. Love is enough, right? Adrien should have been happy, right?

Except he isn't. Because Gabriel's love turned into power hungriness and then into abuse.

Kagami was born to be the perfect descendant, and it was turned into abuse

Felix was born into a semi-loving house, but his father was abusive as well.

All of them, sentis, were conceived with a purpose, with "love" in mind. What a lot of children in abusive households tend to be born in. But that "love" is never what it is. It's about control, it's about having the power over someone who you are supposed to protect.

That's what sentimonsters are supposed to represent in the show.

It's horrible, but it's something kids can understand and adults should realize as well.

It's not about what Adrien and the others are, but how the adults, their caretakers, are using their love in such a terrifying way.

Breakfast with a stranger

Thanks to his karate skills, Felix was able to knock his cousin unconscious.

As they are eating lunch after Kagami was reunited with Tomoe, Gabriel breaks in the bad news about the move to London

Felix: Adrien would be heartbroken if he knew the truth, uncle.

Nathalie and Gabriel stand up. “Felix!”

Felix holds up a finger. “Do you really want to make a scene to draw Ladybug to your own house again? She is ever so keen to confront Monarch, even more than me now.”

Nathalie: what do you want? Where is Adrien?

Felix: sleeping. And soon, he’ll be free of the both of you. I’m aware that you still have parental authority over Adrien, but if you’re in prison, I believe custody goes over to my mother. Especially since Nathalie doesn’t have long to live either.

Gabriel: then why haven’t you reported me in?

Felix: for some reason, Adrien actually loves you. But if you were to send him away from his girlfriend, I imagine he’ll get over your secret identity.

Gabriel: blackmail

Felix: you have such little time left uncle, try not to waste it making Adrien hate you.

Gabriel looked down and was shocked to see one of his gloves missing, exposing his blackened hand, without the rings.

Felix held them up. “It’s a pity I can’t save the kwamis too. But this will have to do.”

Gabriel: how dare you! Everything I am doing is to save your aunt and Nathalie.

Felix: you could have just gone back in time and fixed the broken peacock miraculous.

Nathalie: thank you! See he gets it!

Gabriel bared his teeth. “I will think on it.”

Felix: see that you do. Duusu, spread my feathers.

Meanwhile, Argos visits Marinette and asks her to give Adrien his amok back in disguise so Gabriel can’t demand it back

Marinette asks why she would ever trust him.

Argos gives her Monarch’s stolen rings. “Is making his future akumas less powerful enough? Even if you don’t want to help me, we both want set Adrien free. These rings literally contain Adrien’s free will.”

Marinette sinks as the reality sets in. “Adrien is a sentimonster?”

Argos: please don’t call us that.

Marinette: sorry.

She looks down at the ring. “I’ll…do it. But only because Kagami recommended I give you a second chance if I should see you again.”

Felix smiles. “she really is special.”

Adrien happily wears his new ring and tells Marinette his father gives them his blessing.

Oh boy you're probably tired of the miraculous asks but: I don't think Marinette or Adrien are the 'creators pets', I honestly think that role goes to Gabriel (Adrien's father)

So, for context, Adrien's mom is dead/in a coma, and Gabriel is trying to bring her back using the Ladybug and Cat Noir miraculous (think Mr. Freeze from Batman situation), so, he starts off as a kind of sympathetic villain. However, as the show goes on and you learn more, it just gets worse.

Gabriel has

Constantly kept Adrien locked in the house to the point that he's most likely going to have problems making friends/keeping them/knowing how to interact with people his own age

Refused to let Adrien's friends throw him a birthday party and gets him the same gift every year for three years (a fucking pen)

Has destroyed Paris more than once due to the fact he wants miraculous

Has almost killed his own son due to his own schemes

Upon learning his son is Cat Noir, he doubles down on his plans and turned Adrien evil TWICE (one time actually destroyed the world)

This one just squicks me out but the fact he made these rings programed with an AI of his son and Lila that you can customize to the point of them being in their underwear (And please keep in mind both Adrien and Lila are only fourteen)

When Adrien loses a book (that Gabriel had another copy of) by accident, and despite Adrien’s clear remorse and feeling terrible about it, Gabriel still takes away Adrien’s freedom, confines him to the house, distances him from all of his friends and even distances himself even more from Adrien, acting angry and making Adrien even guiltier all to protect his Hawkmoth identity

And also during this, he destroys any pictures of Adrien plus a drawing Adrien made as a child. In front of Adrien himself.

Adrien is what's referred to as a "sentimonster" which, long story short, is a human (Or anything, really) made by the peacock miraculous and there's a thing that can literally control them, that being Gabriel's wedding ring, which he uses to control Adrien constantly.

And what does Gabriel get after all of this? His wish to be reunited with his wife in Heaven. Yeah his plans changed at some point and now he gets to be dead and happy with his dead wife while Adrien's an orphan now.

I dunno maybe I'm just more willing to give Marinette and Adrien the benefit of the doubt because they're both fourteen and teenagers are stupid, but Gabriel is a full ass adult.

Ok

This is gonna be controversial but I can’t keep my mount shut anymore

This is an unpopular opinion but I have to say it

Gabriel aka Hawkmoth can be a good villain but the show don’t let him to be one and they are also the reason why his character is so over the place

First I would say our moth boy is smart and he really show it a lot

Now I know what you gonna say

“But his ideas are always bad and he is really dumb”

I know but hear me out

I don’t denied that he can be dumb and mess up a lot but I think this isn’t entirely his fault…it’s actually the writers

Why? Well

I would definitely say that Hawkmoth is not only a victim of bad writing, but he is also a victim of plot armor

There are episodes where he almost won but for some lame reason lose

And in fact not all of his ideas are but

You would say is because of Mayura and yeah, you guys are right on that but I’m talking about when he didn’t have her on his side

That’s proof to me that he can be smart and a treat but again, is the show who don’t let him be

And in fact, it’s also show that the show don’t know what direction go with him

In one episode is a broken man who lost his way and is trying to bring back the love of his life but no in the right way of course and he is also trying to hold it back for his son, but keeps himself away from him for his grief and still show humanity and maybe the change there’s still some hope of salvation for him

And then he is this horrible monster without feelings and he can go as far even to destroy humanity and can’t barely care about his own child and neglect him a lot

In one episode he can come out with the most smartest plan to archive his goal and almost got it, but then again, villain always loses

And then in another episode has the most dumbest plan ever

And then he is this goofy and cartoonist villain

Don’t saying that silliness can’t work with a villain

Look Bill from Gravity Falls and Discord from MLP

They are goofy and chaotic but they are still a treat and dangerous to everyone (with one already redeem)

If they want him to be a treat or an irredeemable villain than they could done something like Belos from The Owl House

Those two parallels each other a lot

-They lost an important person of their life with one of them killing them out of rage

-They have this little child on their care but neglected them (and also they didn’t born in the traditional way one being an sentimonster and the other an grimwalker)

-They are willing to destroy everything to archive their goals

-Both are also broken and lost their ways in their life and instead of trying to fix their mistakes and move on, is already to late for both of them, their path become dark

The difference here is at least in The Owl House the writers did know what to do with Belos unlike Miraculous, Belos did have moments of sympathy and moments of guilt about killing his older brother, of the little they show about his past we can have an idea how was his life before become this horrible monster, but the show let it clear there’s not salvation for him anymore and he is way far to be redeem

I insist his dead could be handled a little better, but even tho, they did an awesome job with him

But with Gabe, look, they did had good ideas but the execution wasn’t great

I mean, come on, a villain who can take advantage of the persons feelings and transform them in monsters, that’s a cool concept

He been the father of one of the main characters, also a good concept there

But the writers did a terrible and miserable job with those concept and don’t do anything interesting with them, if they do, then they go with time travel or memory erase because this show has something towards consequences and show progression

And the fact in the leaks is show that Adrien won’t be in the final battle with his father and is only Marinette it’s make me angry

And speaking of our bug girl, let’s go back with the plot armor problem

This girl doesn’t has the power of creation, instead she has the power of plot armor in her hands

And Intuition is the prove for that

“Gabriel v.s Plot armor” the episode

In this episode is show that Gabriel in fact, did use the power of second chance a lot of times, all the episode we saw he did used it

But the problem was that the lucky charm of Ladybug always change, isn’t the same object, didn’t matter what he do or change something about his plan, the lucky charm always manage to change and give Ladybug the opportunity of win

So yeah, this is prove enough to me that no matter how smart his plan can be, the show is always against him

He is even more of a wasted potential than Chloe is

And I would say it, he is much of a punching bag as Chloe as well

But at least with her they kinda know what to do with her (I say kinda because they did a terrible job, and is mostly because Thomas’s hate boner for her), they want to keep her as a brat, I hate that, but you know what, ok, good for you guys, keep going

But come on, why you keep Gabriel like that??

You want him to be a good villain or not??

The poor man is goin on circles because you don’t know what to do with him

In fact, you know what, I’m happy he is leaving in the season five finale, not like he deserve this or I’m happy he got what he wanted, but more like “you know, good for him, he can finally rest from this mess that this show is, he can be free for now”

Good for you Gabe in that, good for you my dude, hope you enjoy your freedom

And look, I’m not saying this beacuse, who those who don’t know, he is my favorite character (yeah you can kill me for that), but mostly I’m saying this because I want his character to make sense, to be consistent and has deep, which he has but the show act like he doesn’t sometimes

It’s make me sad seeing my favorite character been treated like this, because I know in the right hands he can be a great character

I wouldn’t care is they wanted him to be redeem or not, at least, make him a great an iconic villain

Belos is one of the best villains a I have never seen in a while

And this is why I starting to work in AUs about Hawkmoth, because I know he has potential and there’s a lot of fun things you can do with him, if no anyone can sees it that way, than I can because I care about this character

Let me show some love for my moth boy please if no one wouldn’t do it

I wanted to vent a lot about this main problem I have with the show and why Hawky deserves a lot better like the other characters in this show

Why My OCs Shouldn't Have A Miraculous....

If Noelle Odeja had the Peacock Miraculous (ignore lore and canon!!! This is a "What If" scenario!!!)

Eiffel Tower

Paon Saphir: So with the power of the Peacock Miraculous, I could bring any creation to life?

Ladybug: (nods) That's right. By turning one of the feathers on your fan into an amok and sending it inside an object, you can create a Sentimonster to fight alongside you.

Chat Noir: Any ideas in particular you have in mind?

(Paon Saphir thinks for a moment, then snaps her fingers.)

Paon Saphir: I think I've got one! Be right back!

(Paon Saphir turns and leaps away from building to building until she disappears from the hero duo's sight. The superhero pair wait at the Eiffel Tower for half an hour until the new peacock heroine finally returns, carrying a makeshift sack that had something squirming inside of it. Ladybug and Chat Noir exchanged curious and slightly unnerved looks with the nervous-looking peacock.)

Chat Noir: Hey, what took you so long?

Ladybug: Um...and what's in the sack?

Chat Noir: And why is it moving?

Paon Saphir: (nervously avoids eye contact with the other two superheroes while struggling to maintain her hold on the struggling bag) Soooooo....I went back to my house and I wanted to bring my old imaginary friend "Jean-Baissier" to life for nostalgia purposes. So I dug him out of my closet and placed the amok inside of him like you told me to and then...well....(twiddles her fingers)...let's just say he's a little bit...."feral".

Chat Noir: (raises an eyebrow) What do you mean "a little bit feral"?

Paon Saphir: (shifts her eyes to the right) Wellllllll.......

(Paon Saphir opens the sack and the creature immediately jumps out, startling the trio of heroes. The creature is revealed to be a deformed and ragged black teddy bear that is missing an eye, frothing at the mouth with stuffing-like mouth foam and making growling raving sounds. Upon seeing the creature in front of them, the cat and ladybug superheroes ready their weapons.)

Chat Noir: (readies his staff) What the heck is that thing?!

Ladybug: (spinning her yo-yo) Why would you create something like that?!

Paon Saphir: (raises her hands in defense) I swear, he wasn't this way when I was younger! I don't know what happened! But hey, he's not that bad....

(Ladybug and Chat Noir shot Paon Saphir with incredulous looks, causing the peacock heroine to rub the back of her head nervously with a sheepish smile.)

SentiBaissier: (growls low) Kiiilllll Meeeeee.....

Ladybug: (shocked) What the-.....

SentiBaissier: (screams) KILL MEEEEEE!!!!!!!!

Chat Noir: That thing talks?!

Paon Saphir: Oh right, I forgot to mention that. Yeah, he kept screaming that on the way here for some reason. It was actually the first thing he said when I brought him to life.

Chat Noir: (disturbed) That's...messed up.

SentiBaissier: (screams) KILL MEEEEEE!!!!!!!! WHY AM I ALIVE?!?!? (starts crawling towards Ladybug and Chat Noir) KIIIILLLLLLL MEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!! WHAT IS THIS WORLD?!?!

Ladybug: (starts backing away as the sentimonster starts getting closer to her) Paon! Release the amok!

Chat Noir: Get rid of this thing!

Paon Saphir: What? No! I'm not gonna kill it! I created him! He just needs time to adjust to being alive! Besides he doesn't mean it! He's happy he's alive! Just look at him!

SentiBaissier: (screams) KILL MEEEEEE!!!!!!!!

(SentiBaissier launches himself towards the two superheroes, who both step aside as the sentimonster misses both of them and starts leaping off the Eiffel Tower and heads towards the city.)

Chat Noir: Uh, we should probably go after that thing....

Paon Saphir: (unfazed) Nah, he's fine. It's fine....

(The sound of a crash is heard off in the distance along with the panicked screams of several civilians.)

SentiBaissier: (screams) KILL MEEEEEE!!!!!!!!

Paon Saphir: (not as confident) It's fiiiinnnneeee...?

Yeah, so that's what would happen if Noelle was given the miraculous of the peacock. A miraculous that allows the user to bring a creature to life manifested by emotions. Probably not the best fit for Noelle. Anyway, hope you guys enjoyed this. I plan on doing more scenarios like this with my other OCs. Welcome back to my bullshit

This time; Marc! Aka Argeiphontes, the Peacock Holder of this AU!

Don't ask why, the vibes just work, mk? Mk.

Also, yes, I drew his weird hair thingy as a ponytail. I'm not drawing that shit and you can fight me on it.

And now for the random bullshit facts

• Marc found the Peacock Miraculous in an alley and thought it looked nice, so he decided to take it with him. Meanwhile, Nathalie was freaking tf out cause she lost it.

• He freaked out and threw Duusuu out of a window when he first put the broach on and he popped out.

• His parents own a successful tech business overseas so he uses a voice changer to hide his identity better, using a different voice every patrol. It's also why he can 'sneak out', and be Argeiphontes whenever - his parents are never at their house so he doesn't need to sneak.

• Marc usually sends Sentimonsters (idk what he'd call them tbh) that look like him to help with fights and watches from a distance cause he doesn't want to get in LB and CN's way.

• He can glide thanks to the tail feathers on his costume and essentially has the Minecraft slow fall effect.

• His fan's feathers are extremely sharp and are basically like knives. He can also control them even if he isn't using them to create an Amok.

• He figured out Nathaniel and Marinette's identities pretty quick because.. come on. It's painfully obvious. He's still in denial about Adrien being Chat Noir, though, because of the horrendous puns.

• His 'mask' is actually moreso makeup than a mask. He doesn't intentionally conceal his face, it just happens to be covered by his hood most of the time. His reasoning is because he's basically invisible in his civilian life anyway, so nobody would even recognise him.

• When Marc finally joins the art club and has friends other than Marinette, there's a miscommunication that makes them think he hates heroes and treat him kinda crappy at first cause of it, which is what leads to Reverser in this AU. Luckily he doesn't have his broach on when he's akumatised. He kinda takes the 'hating heroes' thing and runs with it as an excuse as to why he isn't a hero on the rare occasion someone (*cough* Alix and Nath *cough*) starts connecting the dots.

• People can't really figure out if Argeiphontes is meant to be a hero or a villain. He's usually helping, but sometimes his Sentimonsters get out of control and start seemingly attacking people and destroying stuff for no reason. This is mostly because of the Peacock Miraculous being damaged, which he figured out and decides to start fighting himself and not with Sentimonsters.

• The 'childlock' is keeping Marc safe from the damaged Miraculous the most part, but he's still starting to get sick. Later down the line, he'll likely need a mobility aid of some sort like Nathalie had in canon but it isn't taking effect as fast because of the power limitations.

• The hoodie in his costume isn't actually.. a part of his costume. He just consistently puts it on overtop because he gets cold. It also hides his Miraculous, but it's not intentional and he doesn't even realise that he's hiding it until Vixen points it out.

adult marinette was trapped for a year in the past but never caused any changes which means she didn't contact anyone she knows but she had to have bought herself a house and stuff and she did it without any help right? she's so badass! what the hell!?

Yeah, she had to be really careful while being trapped in the past, she could only buy food and wasn't allowed to purchase anything that she couldn't take back to the future with her. She turned an abandoned building into her home with the help of the Peaock Miraculous and the Sentimonsters. She wasn't allowed to contact Fu because she was in what Bunnyx claimed was a "fragile" part of time meaning that one wrong move could shatter the future so Marinette couldn't really talk to Fu or anyone else otherwise it would affect the future.
