becoming a data hoarder of crochet/knitting/sewing/embroidery patterns and books on my pc, laptop and phone. an ungodly amount fr.
#also finding good patterns for like 2 dollars at thrift stores and getting books out from the library has been VERY helpful#and so many have maker spaces#where you can sew/weave/embroider/whatever#the one at my local library is mega cool#cos the council realized the suburb next to mine (mine is too small to have a village center like the others so theirs is ours)#had been promised a new mall makeover and a new pool and a new bunch of stuff#and hadnt been given anything in like. decades.#and is also a suburb where a lot of working class and low income families live#so they went ''okay we should. do something and actually support this section''#and thats how we got our new million dollar suburb center building with a new library/cafe/preschool/pool/maker space#and suddenly people have a reason to stay in the area and spend more time at shops and have a study space#available right next to a park and a place for community and information!!!#and everyone is happier and spending more money at the surrounding shops because theyre visiting more often#like that whole project took 2 years but it was so worth it the maker space rules its got a recording booth and a 3dprintet and an engraver#a loom and all these other woodcraft/textile stuff#and i see teenagers from the 3 surrounding schools coming in to record music and/or rent out instruments!#and do carving and sewing and book clubs!!#and have a place to study!#when i was in hs we would walk down to the mall get sushi and sit in a field bcos there was nothing to do#now people from the same high school i have can access all this stuff!#and more online to print out#and partake in healthy hobbies and its like fuck!!! it makes me so happy!!!#all this to say if anyone wants a pattern for smth i can probs find a free one/one costing a few dollars by an indie creator

promise ring
#: tattoo artist boyfriend!geto, fluff, gn!reader, implied college au, gojo cameo
wc: 1.4k
tw/cw: unusally suggestive (my brain was in the gutter…), the f word (f*ck, a couple times), use of pet names (baby, sweetheart)
Tumblr media
“ya like it up there?” geto chuckles, setting his book down above his head. he’s lying on his back, using his hands as a pillow, as he watches you. your legs are straddling his waist and you’re tracing the tattoos that decorate his chest. you hum, curling your fingers to scratch softly at his skin. “mm…” he groans, “mercy, baby, they’re healed but still a little… mmh… tender...”
“yeah?” you tease, letting your fingers slide lower down his abdomen, “then what about here?” you’re inching closer to his waistband when he flips you over, caging you underneath him, his hand pulling you close from the small of your back. his gaze drops to your lips and he licks his hungrily.
“fuck around and find out,” he grins, “you fucked around, so now you get to find out.” you didn’t get a chance to retort as geto quickly closes the space between you, trapping your mouth with his and hands wandering every part of your body. he’s lifting your shirt, the tantalizing skin of your stomach peeking through, and trails kisses down from your jaw to your neck, collarbone, and then chest, looking up at you before continuing any further. “this okay, sweetheart?” he presses a kiss against your stomach, “do you want me to stop?”
your fingers find his hair, keeping his head in place, and you arch your back, chasing the feeling of his lips brushing against your skin again. “no,” you breathe, “keep going.” too caught up in the pleasure rippling across your body, you don’t register the sound of the door unlocking.
“what the fuck- suguru, why didn’t you- ohhh, i see… nevermind! carry on!” gojo quickly turns on his heel and walks out, the door slamming shut behind him. geto lets his head fall into the crook of your shoulder, sighing when you leave a few comforting strokes on his hair, before heaving himself up to retrieve his roommate. after he leaves, you sit up, fixing yourself, and bring your knees up to your chest, waiting for their return.
“honestly, satoru, why do you have a phone if you don’t even use it?” you hear geto grumble as he unlocks the door.
“i’m sorry! i just didn’t see it! hey y/n.”
“yeah, yeah. whatever… sorry ‘bout that, baby,” he says, sitting down beside you, “looks like we got ourselves a guest.” he glares pointedly at gojo, who crosses his arms in response and sticks out his tongue at geto.
“this ‘guest’ also happens to pay half of the rent here, you know,” gojo huffs, muttering, “i should’ve stayed in the library longer…”
“yes you should’ve, why didn’t you?”
“because i was getting hungry and tired,” he shoots back, “anyways, let’s get takeout. what would you like to eat, y/n?”
“oh, uh, how about sushi?”
“i want ramen.”
gojo hums, “okay, sushi it is. sprite okay with you, y/n?” tapping away at his phone, gojo quickly finishes putting in the order and rises from his spot on the couch. “i ordered it, and it's gonna be 30 minutes. please keep the noise to a minimum… i’m gonna take a nap, wake me up when it’s here.”
geto scoffs, rolling his eyes, as you laugh. the door closes behind gojo with a soft click. geto pulls out his ipad, opening the application he uses to sketch tattoo designs. you lean your head on his shoulder, peeking at the screen, and look at his drawings—this one looks to be a spine tattoo.
“is that for you?”
geto sighs, “for a client. he wanted something symbolic, has something to do with his girlfriend or something like that…”
you notice the wrinkles forming from his furrowed brows, “hm... so, what are you thinking about?”
“...tattoos based on relationships are dangerous,” he murmurs, adding more lines to his design, “and if things go wrong, it gets very difficult. i don’t understand why they would do that to themselves. don’t you think it’s stupid?.”
“i think it’s pretty sweet actually,” you say, “you’re making that conscious decision even while knowing the consequences. pretty telling about their determination and loyalty, don’t you think?”
geto hums, still touching up the design, “...if you say so, baby.”
“feel free to talk about something. it might help with the pain.” geto smiles sympathetically at the man lying down in the chair.
“what… would i even talk about?” the man asks through gritted teeth.
geto wipes away at the excess ink, examining his work, “what about why you’re getting this tattoo? you said it had something to do with your girlfriend?”
some of the pain seems to disappear from his face, and a shy smile stretches across his lips: he’s obviously lost in thought about his girlfriend. “it’s a reference to one of those k-dramas that she’s been watching lately. before we got serious, we were watching this one called ‘guardian’ something… the title is too long for me to remember,” he chuckles, “but the flower the guy gives the girl—buckwheat flowers—it means ‘lover,’ and it got me thinking about my relationship with her. and it just hit me, like, it’s her. i want to spend the rest of my life with her.”
“buckwheat flowers…” geto murmurs softly, “they mean ‘lover,’ you say?”
“yeah. at least according to the drama they do. didn’t really google it to check. and so that’s why i wanted to get that bouquet tattooed on me. it also has her favorite actor, so naturally she really loves the show too.”
“i see…” geto stops working on the tattoo completely, “i know i already asked you this before we started, but are you really sure about this tattoo? what if… things go wrong? it’s not too late, i could improvise the design right now and get you something that you might be happier with in the long run.”
the man blinks, “no, but i understand your concern. it must be frustrating to spend hours on tattoos only for it to become meaningless the next day…” geto stays silent, staring at the quarter-finished tattoo, so the man continues, “i love her, and i’m choosing her. you know that ring ceremony thing that those engineer people have? how the ring is supposed to remind the engineer of their obligation or something like that? i want the tattoo to be like that. i want it to remind her that i’m choosing her and that i’m promising her my forever, and i want to remind myself that she’s who i want and that the thing we’ve built together is worth it for me.”
“i… never thought of it like that,” geto admits, picking the pen back up and preparing to start work again, “should i continue?”
“...how about a 5 minute break?” the man asks, tone hopeful, beads of sweat trailing down his forehead.
geto laughs, “you got it.”
“hey, what’s this?” you grab at geto’s hand, peering at his latest tattoo, “a line?”
“a band,” he corrects, “got a little bored at the shop today, so i just did it.”
you look up at him quizzically and he shrugs. it was a simple black stripe that went around his ring finger. flipping over his hand, his palm facing you, you continue to study the tattoo, when your eyes widen at your newest discovery. “suguru…” your voice comes barely above a whisper, and a hand comes up to cover your mouth, “my initials?”
geto glances away, cheeks flushing, as he scratches at the back of his head sheepishly, “yeah, i uh… yeah.”
“weren’t you the one who said that people who tattoo something of their partner’s are a different level of idiotic?” you say,  quirking an eyebrow and a playful smile curling the corner of your mouth.
geto hid his face in his other hand, “don’t remind me...”
you thumb the tattoo thoughtfully, “were you thinking about me?”
“i’m always thinking about you.”
you smile at that, meeting his steady eyes, “when you did it, i mean.”
“i don’t think that changes my answer,” geto says, raising an eyebrow, a teasing glint in his eyes.
you pretend to glare at him, straightening up and crossing your arms over your chest. “...just shut up and kiss me already,” you tell him, and he obliges immediately, pulling you in close and kissing your lips sweetly. coaxing your mouth open, he turns his head to deepen the kiss. he presses his forehead against yours when he pulls away, your lips parted still as you catch your breath.
“my forever,” he tells you, voice barely audible, but you can still hear him clear as day, “it’s yours.”
you smile, “i know.”
he wraps his arms around your waist, hugging you close, and rests his head on your shoulder, “and your forever is mine.”
“it is.”

Our Love Story
Nanami Kento x Reader
Part 3: Always Prepared For My Lady
Chapter 1: Coffee and Baked Goods
Chapter 2: Sushi, Movie, and a Kiss
(Song Inspiration: Love Her by The Jonas Brothers)
You dragged your feet when you arrived back to your apartment. You dropped your bag to the ground and hung your keys on the hook. You lied on the couch, too tired to even hop in the shower at the moment. You heard your phone ring. It was somehow the only thing that gave you a bit of energy.
“Good morning, sweetheart. Had another good night at work?” Nanami asked. You smiled, the sound of his voice soothing your tense self.
“Good morning,” you greeted tiredly. “Not this time. My body hurts. It was a lot of lifting. And a lot of anxiety tensing my body.”
“I’ll be there soon, okay?” he said.
“It’s okay,” you said as you closed your eyes. “You have work.” The sound of jingling keys made you open them.
“I start work in two hours. I missed you,” he said. You heard the door close and footsteps.
“I can’t promise you that I’m going to be awake,” you said. “I do miss you too though.” Your thoughts lead back to the kiss you two shared a few nights ago. Your heart started racing and you blushed.
“I’ll find a way to get in, sweetheart. I’ll see you soon.”
The moment the two of you hung up, you turned the TV on and fell asleep.
Nanami arrived and walked up the few staircases to your floor. When he arrived, he turned the doorknob. He shook his head that you forgot to lock your door. He quietly opened the door and entered inside. He heard the TV playing softly in the background. He hooked his keys in front of yours, hung his jacket, and took off his shoes. He shut the door quietly behind him and locked it before walking over to the living room. He placed the plastic bag down on the kitchen counter before going to you. He smiled softly to see you fast asleep. He took the blanket hanging on the top of the couch and covered your body warm.
He watched your brows furrow from the movement he made. Slowly, your eyes opened. You smiled to see him.
“You left your door unlocked,” he said softly.
“Sorry,” you mumbled and slowly sat up as you rubbed your tired eyes.
“You can go back to sleep,” he said, holding on to your shoulders so you would lie down. You shook your head.
“But you’re here,” you said. Nanami smiled.
“It’s okay,” he said. “When you get hungry, I bought you a sandwich.”
“Thank you, Kento-kun.” Nanami took a seat on the floor, his back leaning back against the couch.
“A-Are you doing anything tonight, sweetheart?” he asked. You shook your head. “Would you like to go on a date tonight?” His question woke you up. You turned to your side to face him. Oh how your heart was racing at the close proximity of his face. You can feel your face heat up.
“I would love to,” you answered happily. “W-What do you have in mind?”
“To be honest, I’ve never been on one.”
“No way. You’re lying.” Nanami shook his head, slightly embarrassed.
“I’m a busy man.” You blushed again. A busy man yet he made time for you.
“You get out at 6 right?” you asked curiously. Nanami nodded. “We can go out to dinner. I like Korean bbq. You can’t go wrong with all-you-can-eat right?” Nanami chuckled.
“That sounds fun,” he said. “Then I’ll plan our next date. And maybe the date after that.”
“You already plan multiple dates with me?” you asked teasingly. “You must like me a lot.” You immediately glued your lips together. Nanami blushed yet a smile formed on his face. A shy one.
“If you agree to the next dates,” he said.
“I-I would love that.”
“Want me to bring you over coffee on my way here?” You shook your head.
“I can meet you there, Kento-kun.” Nanami shook his head.
“I’ll get you, sweetheart.” He leaned in and kissed your forehead. “I’ll see you later.”
“H-Have a good day at work,” you said.
“I will,” he said. “I have something to look forward to.”
Nanami entered the library, ready to read his newspaper, wanting to know what was going on in the world. It was a long day. He was finally able to sit down. He looked up from the paper when he heard the door open.
“Nanamin!” Gojo exclaimed loudly. Nanami pushed his glasses up and looked up from the paper. “Let’s all go out tonight! I’m up for a celebration.” He put his arm around Nanami’s shoulders.
“For?” he questioned. Nanami pushed his arm off and brushed his shoulder.
“Me!”
“I’m busy,” he answered.
“You? Busy? Aw come on.” Nanami sighed. His phone lit up and he smiled when he read your good morning message. The nights you work, your afternoons became your mornings. He put his phone in his pocket and placed the paper back on the table.
“I’m going out,” he said.
“Without me? With who? Nanamin!” Nanami sighed at his nosy behavior. He stopped at the door and turned to Gojo.
“I have a date.” He smirked at Gojo’s surprised reaction before leaving.
Time was close. You stood in front of your mirror, observing your outfit. A beige sweater dress with a brown belt around your waist to accentuate your waistline. You wore a pair of warm panty-hose. Your brown peacoat was on the back of the couch and your brown boots by the front door. You wondered if you were overdressed. A knock was heard. You jumped and quickly walked to the front door. You looked through the peephole. You blushed and opened the door.
“You’re early,” you said. Nanami smiled, looking at you up and down.
“You look beautiful,” he commented softly. You curled a strand of hair behind your ear. Your sleeve went down by your elbow and he saw a bandage on your forearm. “What happened.” Nanami held your arm, observing the covered wound.
“Oh, I got scratched at work,” you answered, as if it was a normal thing to happen at work.
“You should be careful.”
“I’m usually careful. I promise. Ready?” Nanami nodded. “Let me grab my jacket and we can go.” He watched you put your jacket on before applying on your shoes. You shut the door and locked it. Nanami reached for your hand and held it. You smiled, holding his hand tightly. “No flowers for the first date?” Nanami averted his gaze.
“I wasn’t aware,” he mumbled. You giggled.
“I was kidding, Kento-kun.” Your smile was bright, making Nanami feel more nervous about the date. When you two arrived at his car, he opened your door. Your eyes widened and Nanami smirked at your reaction.
“I never come unprepared for my lady,” he said. On the passenger seat was a bouquet of flowers, sunflowers and roses. Next to it was a box of your favorite chocolates.
“Th-Thank you,” you said breathlessly.
“You’re welcome, sweetheart.”
Nanami started placing the ordered meat on the grill before you did it. You happily thanked him.
“How was work?” you asked.
“It was good, just long. Not as busy as I thought it would be,” he answered, eyes slightly avoiding you. He was vague, you noticed. And you knew he was hiding something.
“What do you do exactly?” you asked curiously. Nanami slightly flinched at your sudden question. You haven’t asked and it never came to mind except now. He didn’t know how to answer you. “Is it something bad?” Nanami shook his head.
“No, it’s just…it’s complicated,” he said. It was the first time you watched him falter in a conversation.
“Kento-kun?” He looked at you and the soft look in your eyes calmed him. “If one day you want to tell me, I’ll wait. I’m choosing to trust you to tell me one day.
It was your last statement that made Nanami realize that you don’t trust easily. It made sense by the way you spoke about your friends. He knows who you’re close to and not. And you weren’t close to many people. It all made sense to him.
“One day, I promise.” You smiled.
“Serve me some food, please!” you said cutely and excitedly. Nanami chuckled, feeling the tension leave. His body relaxed.
“Is this a good first date?” he asked curiously.
“The best.”
“Don’t lie,” he said.
“Fine, you caught me,” you replied. “I mean first dates aren’t typically the best. But I am enjoying it. A lot.”
“Okay, that’s all I care about.” You nodded and grabbed the tongs he left on the table.
“My turn.”

I survived the funeral and all the peopling it required.
Here is my food for today. I did get a couple dog walks in, but no real "cardio". I felt drained so I took a nap. Got up and finished my book: Waisted by Randy Susan Meyers
Book summary: 7 women of mixed backgrounds go to a weight loss mansion. They realize they are getting fed amphetamines and that the film makers are working on a different project than they are told.
Kinda like the show, The Biggest Loser but book form, with an ending that ends with most women being thinner but focusing on body positivity.
I got this book because it leapt out at my the 1 time I was in my local library because they just changed their hours to close at 7 pm instead of 5 pm. For Cripes sake...it was my major pet peeve because I moved back here 5 fucking years ago and could never use the library.
So what are my thoughts? Rambling thoughts from a lonely, socially isolated person in search of connection and meaning that isn't caustic or traumatic:
I understand that thin privilege exists. The way people treat me now is different than how people treated me 120 pounds heavier. I have the same heart. I care about people very deeply, still. I just look better because I am eating less and moving more.... Yada Yada Yada.
I was lucky enough to not have a mom that criticized my body, but my dad did- constantly. His sisters were between 100-120 pounds. I hit that by 7th grade! That is also close to when the dieting started for me.
In 9th grade I was about 135-140 when I had a leg injury that didn't heal. I gained almost 20 pounds in a couple months and I never got it off after that.
By my junior year I was in the 170's. He tried to manipulate my weight class and had me eat more all summer only to realize that we couldn't jump weight classes like that so I had to crash diet from 210 to 176 in like 3 weeks. It was torture.
After that I spent some time focused on other things in High school that I had never gotten to do before.
By sophmore year of college I was 210 or higher. 220 by the time I started dating. After I got a sit down job I spiked to 240 and it was impossible to get below that for the most part, even with some severe dieting and regular exercise.
And over the year, working a desk job, you gain if your output and input don't align... as mine obviously didn't. I was eating too much. I dealt with a partner who was a diet saboteur and I did a lot of stress related emotional eating (job shit).
But realistically I was also unable to maintain a calorie deficit in a sustainable way. So the diet culture mentally that didn't help me were things like the "last meal" concept.... because the "diet starts tomorrow." "I'm on vacation" & "Cheat" meals were also bad ones. Being in party mode and over drinking was another terrible one. I would drink 4+ cocktails and eventually eat a fuckton of greasy food to cover it up... (and often puke in the process. Like I said OVERDRINKING). Using exercise to offset overeating was another one. I may think of more later.... but also having lots of junky foods in the house and going out to eat constantly didn't help.
I feel like I am doing good on my current trajectory. Healthier and healthier every day. I am super excited for this process to end tho.... it is starting to feel like "Will it ever end?"
I had some vegetables and a half sandwich at the funeral luncheon also. But here is from the lunch at a sushi/Ramen place on...
I mentioned I took a nap right? And I am about to cook dinner.

Today was the most lovely of them all
Ok. ok it was crazy. first of all. the weather..... ohhh my god. beautiful. sunny. lovely. there was so much driving and cool breezes and giggling with glee and cute dogs and adventures and yummy snacks.
second of all. i had 2 first period spares which would usually mean i start class at 1:00pm BUT i accepted a slot to tour a family at 8:45 so i was there for that. this was my last tour of the year and i really put my all into it (it lasted AN HOUR) and i think the family actually liked me
while i was doing my tour my friend was sitting in the library and when i stopped in she lifted up her phone which read "do you want to go to tim's after this". im never one to decline a drive anywhere or coffee when i havent had breakfast. i got an apple fritter and a black iced coffee (bliss). BUT while we were there. who did i spot. but people doing fucking geomatics (the program i didnt apply to but got accepted to at waterloo) so we took a silly photo with them. then she drove me back to school and had to go to english :(
BUT she left me with our other friend who had a spare like i did. so since it was such a lovely day we skipped/ran all the way to the beltline and to the tree we discovered a couple weeks ago. sat and listened to music :)
then it was time to help our friends with their promposals. BUT there wasn't enough room in the car for everyone we needed so i climbed in the trunk. turns out i love the trunk. like a rollercoaster ride and fun and cozy and i loved it. also one of the dates hadn't ever been seen in person and was 10x hotter than photos. so amazing.
then when we got back the rest of my friends had spares and went to get boba soo i was totally bummed because i had to go to 3rd period. but when i got to 4th there was a bubble tea waiting for me (eeeeeeeek)
then i had to stay out of the house until after 5. so my friends and i went to sushi (i didnt get any bc im SKINT) so while we were sitting around waiting for a friend to get out of her ap bio exam. this rlly cute guy walked by. and 2/4 of us found him cute... but i was totally not there for that. so blah blah she tried to work up the courage to ask him out and stuff. when she finally did he had JUST walked away. but still cute good times.
so then our ap bio friend was starving and our other friend left so we all went to chipotle so me and ap bio friend could eat (used order ahead with family uber eats... very sneaky) absolutely scrumptious and i love that area of the city
+ the friend driving always rolls the windows down and my friend on aux has sublime music taste so it was just. so much fun
on the way to chipotle the 2 friends in front got the idea to go see challengers. 1 friend had already seen it but was determined to see it 3 times... so that comes up later
here i called my friend and had the funniest fucking conversation because everyone around me could only hear one half (you just woke up... oh no the dogs... chicken sandwiches... well tampon is #1..... no you don't have school tomorrow.... yeah no its next week now.... lucky i called you... the new season is out?!)
then after chipotle we drove down to the theatre and dropped one of us off along the way. and on the way there i rolled down my window to rest my head on it and look out and the wind was just so perfect and i felt so nice and i loved the song that was playing and it was just... yeahhhhhhh
also my friend called me asking to hang out on the way there and i just felt really loved
THEN OBVIOUSLY CHALLENGERS WAS AMAZING AND WHEN SHE GOES TO SEE IT FOR A 3RD TIME IM COMING. ALSO SHE BOUGHT MY TICKET BECAUSE AGAIN TOTALLY SKINT SO YIPPEE THATS A WIN. THANKS TO ALL MOM FRIENDS OUT THERE
then we listened to inhaler on the drive back to my place for some water (specifically these are the days which felt SO fitting). my friend was shuffling her favourite songs and one i showed her came up so. almost cried there. (She's a Jar- Wilco). We had been seeing really cute dogs all day because it was finally nice out enough and we saw the ultimate fluffiest friendliest dog on the drive back.
my step mom happened to arrive at the EXACT. SAME. TIME. and creepily followed us making spooky noises just to freak us out.
after a bit everyone went home but just. ugh. the day was so perfect and wonderful im like high on it. and i had to transcribe the entire thing.

Norovirus is going around a lot, you know. Sure would be a shame if your tummy started churning for no obvious reason and trying to evacuate itself from both ends....even worse if you ate soooo much food right as it was coming on so there's a heavy load to be sloshed around. What would you do in that situation? If you realized the rumbles were starting to unsettle your belly more and more, and the pain beginning to squeeze up sour burps?
o///o
Anon…are you a mind-reader? The idea of the stomach virus having a full tank to wreak havoc with has been a low-key fantasy of mine for ages. It's something I've never really been able to write scenarios for because I have little-to-no personal experience with stomach flu and/or vomiting.
In the realm of this blog, I'm not super interested in what happens at either end. My main fixation is on the torso and what's going on within so the idea of the stomach churning and cramping for hours and hours in vain is more my speed.
RP-Scenario below. Note that it is a work of fiction, not one of my stories inspired by real experiences.
"Unnngh…" I groan, doubling over as I press my arms against my stomach with all the force I can muster. Instant-regret. I can't help but whimper at the sharp pain that results from displacing the contents of my belly. Note to self: humans are not built like toothpaste tubes…you can't just squeeze and expect the goop to come out of whichever end.
I feel the thick mass of stomach contents surge back into place, my digestive organs straining from both internal and external pressure. Talk about a rock and a hard place for the walls of my stomach.
It's February…so Valentine's Day has been on everyone's mind for a while now. Considering how January came and went with no opportunities to get together, my partner and I decided to go all-out for Valentine's Day. We maanged to line up our respective work-schedules to get a day off in the vicinity of February 14. We were debating between ramen and all-you-can-eat sushi. In the end, "both is good" became our answer.
I suggested ramen for lunch. My stomach had been doing flips since the night before. I assumed it was just nerves for the date. I didn't want a nervous tummy ache derailing our date, so I skipped breakfast. As much as I love sushi and ramen, I opted for ramen for my first meal of the day because I thought broth would be easier on a nervous tummy. Also, with ramen, there's a defined end-point of the meal. I didn't trust myself to tackle all-you-can-eat sushi on a nervous tummy.
The ramen sat pretty heavy in my tummy all day, despite the broth. I felt pretty full after the ramen. Luckily, I was with good company, company enough to distract me from being hyper-aware of the state of my tummy all day. After the ramen, we walked around for a bit. We stumbled upon an arcade and played far too many rounds of some variation of DDR. I was beginning to suspect something was wrong when I still felt my stomach sloshing with the ramen and broth after such vigorous exercise. You'd think all that jumping and jostling would have coaxed my stomach to digest…but most of lunch was still sloshing around in my tummy.
We stopped by a library after the arcade--home turf for me as I grew up going to that library and used it often as a broke post-secondary student. We browsed the shelves for a while, shared book recommendations, and checked local events and seminars and whatever for things of interest. This library also has a really nice cafe in it. I brought them there and they got sucked in by a book I insisted they had to give a shot as it was what I had thought about when they shared some elements of an RPG they were playing months back. They were hooked. While they fell into a fictional world, I took the opportunity to sneak off to the washroom in the library to assess the state of my belly and to try and coax it into a better state.
Thank Heaven the washroom was single-stall and in a relatively low-traffic area of the library. I knew the place like the back of my hand and knew that this little corner was a haven for washroom emergencies. Luckily, I wasn't interrupted. I basically manhandled my guts, prodding and squeezing my belly as I tried to shake off the upset that was brewing. Something must have worked. I managed to get most of the ramen and broth to siphon into my intestines. It wasn't comfortable, but it was head and shoulders above feeling the warm slosh and wet tickle at the base of my esophagus all day. Yeah, my stomach was sore from the rough massage, but I had a date to finish and I wasn't going to let an upset tummy derail the long-awaited date.
When I rejoined my partner, they had decided to look into the book series I recommended. They put a hand on their tummy and it let out the most adorable grumble right at that moment. They told me they were hungry and suggested going for the sushi we had opted not to get for lunch. My tummy definitely wasn't up for more food…but I couldn't think of a non-embarrassing excuse, so I went along with it.
It is currently just passed 9PM. I got back from the date about an hour ago. I'm still in the cute outfit I agonized over all morning…not by choice. I usually hate wearing 'outside' clothes while I am at home, especially if I am alone as I am. Unfortunately, the last hour has been filled with a SNAFU that has taken my mind off of lounging clothing.
It's not a nervous tummy. It probably never was 'just nerves'. I didn't check my emails at all today, not wanting to be disrespectful to my date and all that…so I missed it.
Leah, one of my besties, and I had a bit of a 'study date' a couple of days ago. She's currently enrolled in a couple of courses that are supposed to help her in her career, and I'm debating going back to school for another degree/certification and hoping it'll help me land better job prospects. The two of us opted to study our respective fields together because we both focus better in a library-setting/away from home…and having someone we trust to watch our stuff if we need to use the washroom is a load off of our minds when the alternative has always been to use the washroom first, set up our study area, and tank it for maybe 2-4 hours until nature calls again or we get hungry or whatever.
Leah had forgotten her water bottle that day. Part of it was fear that it would spill on her laptop, so she had debated whether or not to bring it and ended up forgetting it on her kitchen counter anyway. We've been friends for more than a decade so we ended up sharing my waterbottle, passing it back and forth.
Leah emailed me this morning. Apparently, she's down and out with a nasty case of Norovirus. She spent all of the night making offerings to the porcelain throne. She emailed me to warn me that she could have been asymptomatic/incubating the virus when we shared the waterbottle…so…she told me to be prepared and to sanitize the bottle (her exact words, "kill it with fire")…the same waterbottle that I had brought on my date today…that I had drank out of multiple times today. Yeah…if I wasn't infected the day I was with Leah, I definitely must have done it to myself today.
The sushi is sitting like a hunk of cement in my stomach. Despite the upset tummy, I ate a lot. It was 'all you can eat' so I knew I was going to get my money's worth. Also, it would have been awkward to stop eating when my date was still going at it with gusto. Piece-by-piece, I loaded up my stomach like a novice tetris player. My poor stomach was packed like a tin of sardines by the halflway mark…and my date was still showing no signs of slowing down.
That leads us to now. I've been in and out of the washroom at least seven times in the last hour. I stopped counting around my fourth unproductive trip.
My stomach will clench and I'll feel a dizzying sensation, like a whirlpool has spontaneously manifested inside of my guts at some random point and is churning my stomach-contents at an alarming rate…and I'll race the combined nausea and urge to go to the washroom…with nothing to show for it.
I'm beyond frustrated right now. My tummy is packed so tight that it feels as rigid and solid as the bathroom counter I've been white-knuckling as I desperately try to get my churning stomach and clenching torso to agree on which end to eject the sick and stuff from.
All I have to show for my hour of frustration is what feels like a very bruised tummy (I've been really, really rough with it, trying to squeeze the mess to either end with no success) and a small handful of nasty, barely-there-belches. Sushi tastes great going down. Ramen tastes great going down. The aftertaste, should it come back up, is revolting. It's sour and salty, and the gross hot air I've coaxed up my throat honestly makes me wonder if warlocks are real and if one of them cursed me in such a way that my entire digestive tract did a 180. The taste of those burps is disgusting! If the taste of the hot air is bad, I don't even want to imagine the hell that's brewing in my stomach.
My stomach clenches painfully. Fresh tears race down my cheeks, squeezed out by my tightly-shut eyes as I bite my lip and white-knuckle the counter next to me. It hurts! Ithurtsithurtsithurts!
Twenty minutes later, the cramp ebbs with nothing to show for it. The tug-o-war in my digestive tract continues as my digestive organs try to decide which end will get the nastiness that continues to brew within. I can't decide between 'I'd kill for someone else's hands on my belly right now' vs. the image of clawing out my griping insides and wringing them out like a stubborn tube of toothpaste, pushing the sickly goop of norovirus and too-much-food out before re-inserting the guts where they belong.

England had just left his business meeting when he received a text from you. He pulled out his phone, looked at it, and saw you asking about his plans for tonight.
He responded, stating he didn't have any.
You asked if you could come over to try some of his foods and also help cook, maybe teach him a few recipes.
He agreed and texted you his address.
He put his phone away and made his way home, undoing his tie once his foot crossed the threshold of his front door.
He sighed as he ran his fingers through his hair, he slowly made his way through the house and up the stairs, setting his briefcase on the chest of drawers in his room, as he made his way to the shower. He turned the water on to hot and took his time, just wanting to relax a bit before the reader came to visit.
After his shower, he put on some relaxing, comfortable, but presentable clothes.
He ruffled his hair one last time with the towel to get it dry. He didn't bother fixing it as it was messy in his day-to-day life anyways.
He walked out of his room just in time to hear the doorbell ring, he walked down the stairs and around the corner as he opened it he smiled and spoke:
"Welcome y/n." as he gestured to the inside of his house.
"Thank you, Arthur." You said as you walked into the house.
The house was a large three-story building, with the kitchen, dining room, and sitting room all on the first floor. The second floor had some rooms, bedrooms, bathrooms, and closets. The third floor was the attic with various rooms, libraries, and office space.
The rooms were decorated with furniture from the 1980s, at a first glance one would think it was an old house.
The evening light was casting a warm glow on the house. The small rays of light provide little light to the house. Fortunately, for the lamps, the lighting wasn't much of a problem.
"You're welcome, right this way." He said as he walked down the hall stopping right before a doorway on the right, making sure you were following him before entering the room.
The kitchen was a large room and much different from the other rooms. The kitchen looked like it was from the 2000s, and the stove was a gas one.
"What food would you like to try?" He asked as he looked at you.
"How about a trifle?"
"Well, that isn't entirely a meal."
"We can make sushi and you can make the trifle?"
"I don't think I've had that before."
"Do you have some Unagi?"
"Uhh… I'm not sure?" He said as he rubbed the back of his head.
"It's alright, I brought some ingredients with me."
"Oh good! What's the first step?"
"Wash 237 milliliters of rice in the sieve." You said as you grabbed the bag of rice and tore open the top.
England grabbed a measuring cup and you poured the rice in. He then poured the cup into the sieve and rinsed the rice in the sink.
"After washing the rice, put it in the pan. We'll need two 237 milliliters of water with the rice."
He added the rice and then the water. Then put it on the stove and put a lid over it.
"Turn on the heat and wait until it boils, then turn off the heat and let it sit for about twenty minutes."
He turned on the stove and while you guys waited for the rice to cook, you continued to work on the other items.
"We need to cook this at 182 Celsius for ten to twelve minutes."
He brought out a tray and covered it with parchment paper, you unpacked and placed the unagi down and washed your hands, while England placed the tray near the stove, waiting for it to reach the correct temperature and putting it in the oven once it did.
You grabbed the bamboo mat and laid it out while England grabbed the ingredients for his trifle.
"Do you have any scissors?"
"Yeah." He left and returned with a pair. "Here you go."
"Thank you." You said as you grabbed them and began cutting the nori sheets in halves.
"I need some plastic wrap."
"It's right behind you, the second drawer on the right.
You opened the drawer and grabbed the plastic wrap. You laid some down on the mat and laid down the nori with the shiny side face down.
"Where's the sesame seeds?"
"The top door on the left."
You grabbed the seeds and poured some into the cup, before going and checking the rice. You turned off the stove, opened the lid, and fluffed it up before closing the lid and letting it sit for ten minutes.
"The unagi should be done."
England grabbed an oven mitt, opened the door, took the unagi out, set it on the stove, and turned off the oven.
While you waited for the unagi to slightly cool off you cut up some cucumber.
After you finished cutting, you watched England and his work. He had finished slicing the fruits and had begun mixing pudding and milk.
You checked on the rice once more and seeing it was done you took it and spread it over the nori. You sprinkled on sesame seeds before adding on unagi, cucumber, and some green onions.
You rolled up the mat, pressing every so often to keep the fillings together. Once the mat ends had met you laid the mat out and began cutting up the roll. You took out a bottle of unagi sauce and drizzled it over the sushi.
"The sushi is done, do you need any help?"
You asked as you looked over at England.
"No, thank you for the offer." He said as he whipped the cream. He added it onto the two bowels he had filled with the fruits and cake. He topped the bowels with some cherries.
"Where are the plates?"
"Top right door."
You grabbed two plates and placed the sushi evenly onto them.
You carried the plates into the dining room, England carried the bowels and silverware.
"What would you like to drink?"
"I'll take some water please."
England left and returned with two glasses of water.
He sat right across from you and ate a bite of sushi while you ate some of the trifle.
"This is good!"
You both said in unison.
"Thank you."
You both said again.
"You're welcome." You said with a giggle.
While England also spoke when you did "It is my pleasure!"

BIOGRAPHY
Lorelei Violet Rosenkrantz is the quintessential perfect daughter, or, at least, she is trying to be.  From the very beginning, when she could walk and talk and eventually began to read people’s emotions, she became a people pleaser.  After her mother left for good, stopped visiting all together, Lorelei really kicked it into overdrive.  She watched her father, her caring, loving father, raise two kids by himself and she knew she had to do everything to make him proud (and perhaps, make the mother who left her,  love her, too.)
It started with gifted classes and turned into an all girls private school, turned into too many extra curricular activites to pad a resume she probably shouldn’t have been as concerned as she was about.  The school paper, student goverment, and drama club to name a few, the latter becoming a refuge she didn’t know she needed. Theater in general became something that would take her out of her head, took her out of the place where she needed to be perfect and put her in a place where she could just be.
But that’s all it was, an outlet. Even after finding out she was quite suited to acting, and according to her teacher, she had a powerhouse voice, a job as an actress wasn’t realistic, not when it came to her plan. She needed stability.  Choosing to major in History, and then, Library Science was smart, it was stable and it would give her a good, steady life. It might not have been her passion. But it made her content.
Moving to New York was probably the biggest risk Lorelei has ever taken to date, but nothing felt as good as the campus of Columbia to her.  The city was her campus, and being so close to live Broadway shows was an extra perk. If she couldn’t do it she could consume it, and that was enough, that had to be enough.
In New York, and in college, Lorelei blossomed, she allowed herself to break out of a very rough shell, and make friends, her roommate becoming the closest person to her until MUSE B came along. They dated on and off throughout college, but eventually, MUSE B couldn’t deal with Lorelei’s very set five year plan, needing something looser, a little more adventure, a little more risks.  Risks Lorelei just wasn’t willing to take with her life.
A bachelor’s degree in History and a master’s in Library science later, and partly because of a break up, and mostly because she missed home, Lorelei moved back to the West Coast, finding a little apartment in the castro district that got good light, adopting a kitten and naming it Papaya, and finding a quiet, steady job in the san francisco public library, she setteled into her life. Her steady, easy, if not a little bit basic, life.
She made up for the quietness of her new life with Friday night sushi and karaoke, belting out showtunes and celine dion numbers after too many craft cocktails, singing became an outlet once again, in whatever way she could get it.
PERSONALITY and HEADCANONS
Lorelei is introverted, studious, and a little grumpy by nature, but also fiercely loyal to the people she loves.
She spends too much time in the coffee shop across the street from the library she works at, consuming more oat milk lattes than one person should consume. She likes them light and sweet.
She loves a good romance or fantasy novel, but can give you recs on almost any genre if you ask.
She loves the color pink, which she thinks people are surprised to know about her.
hates cooking simply because she hates the clean up, but bakes a decent nutella banana bread.
her neighbors are probably tired of hearing her sing through the walls.

Okay so overdue photo dump/long post of when I was in Vegas earlier this year to hang out with Sushi and Poo!
I stayed there for two weeks! The first week it was mostly me and hun checking out the area bc we’re actually planning to move there sometime next year! I had to make sure the restaurant was good, see how the food markets were like, how comfortable the movie theater seats were like, what the traffic was like. We watched the show, Ka, I think-- that shit was SOOO GOOD. Uh what else, hun and I went to the casino and put in $20′s and came out with 1cent. It was really chill and we ate good food. The second week, I spent at Sushi’s place and had such a fun time spending it w Sushi and Poo. It was so chill, we watched Euphoria, talked about our OCs, went to the mall, Omega Mart, the Strip, ate good food, drank Soju and got drunk, got Dutch Bros like... almost every day LOL
The first night I was there at Sushi’s place, she gave me an edible and it was the first time I felt it-- It took like an hour for it to finally kick in, and when it kicked in, it felt SO WEIRD. I felt like I wasn’t making ANY SENSE, and it was as if I was talking so slow, but Sushi was talking a mile a minute LMFAO. When she left to go to sleep, I was staring at this one Nier print on her wall and it began taking the form of one of Van Gogh’s portrait, and his face was just glaring at me while I was laying down... I just closed my eyes at that point. When Poo finally came to Vegas, that was when I presented a powerpoint to the both of them, determining which of my OCs would end up with Sushi’s OC, Goro... and so that’s when the insanity of JoRo began LOL. NOT ONLY THAT BUT THE WEEK BEFORE I WENT TO SUSHI’S HOUSE, I WAS WORKING ON A LONG ASS FIC FOR SUSHI AND POO TO READ-- It ended up being over 100 pages?? BYE!! SO LONG!!
We went to the mall and all of us ended up buying some clothes and we ate some good ass strawberry cheesecake bingsoo. Then another day we went to the trip and walked there for like five hours and we got drinks at the Taco Bell and ate white castle-- which I have never had before! Then the days I did enjoy the most was just chilling at Sushi’s place to rest and all we did was watch a bunch of stuff, talked, drank, cried together, and Poo made their homemade beet peasant soup which was actually... really good LMAOOO, then the next day Poo had a mega hangover so we stayed home again LOOOL, then last full day we went to Omega Mart! It was so trippy, but super fun, especially when you’re walking around drunk. Also ate this good ass Korean pizza... had corn on it and I think sweet potato... I crave to taste it again.
Anyway I remember watching a bunch of movies, but I specifically remember watching American Psycho for the first time, BUT I KEPT FALLING ASLEEP-- I would wake up in intervals and watch a bit, and see the shit that Patrick Bateman or whatever-- was up to in the movie and say “This guy’s so lame.” AND DOZE OFF AGAIN LMFAO. Also remember where Poo and I were talking and it was LATE AF, just chilling in Sushi’s personal room... and Poo was like “I gotta fart,” and barely anything came out and I was like “I gotta fart too.” And just let a big one rip... twice LMFAOO. Seeing Sushi’s collection in person was SOO crazy... literally eye candy wherever you look in her room, so nice to see in person. Like a mini library and gallery in there! Also MET PEPPER AND OLIVE!!! WHAT BABIES!! Pepper is so funny too... her scragly ass meowing was so cute. She was tinier than I thought too.
But it was so fun, I had a great ass time in Vegas so I very much look forward to moving there in the near future to hang out w Sushi and just be closer to friends in general. I’m so thankful that she was kind enough to let Poo and I stay at her place and drove us everywhere and made sure we were fed and had so much stuff to do!

i had a lot of dreams but I can't remember them that well.
- the first one had razor in it. it was nighttime, we were crossing an open ish area. there was a stream. razor wanted to show me something & he was excited about it, but as he was gearing up to do so, my dad came and woke me up.
- something vaguely AA related. gumshoe was there.
- digging a big hole in pink sand in the jungle. just chilling. yor forger was there but she wasn't helping or doing anything just sitting on a rock above me on a hill staring off into space. to be fair we were on like a cliff overlooking a valley so the view WAS very nice
- something about a house with green walls and dark wooden paneling. there was a pastry focused cooking show that was being filmed here, but the house was so big beyond that.
- a rts game like Neptune's Pride, except instead of trips that troops you had were all glyphids from drg (just grunts, praetorian, & oppressors) & I could see them walk around in real time. this was also taking place in a physical area, like the upstairs of a library. there was a huge square hole spanning most of the room, so what was left was a decently wide walkway around the hole. it was all open. the stars/control points/whatever you wanna call em were all on the floor in this space. obviously I was red. the nearest person to me was blue & was pangtongshu boy genius, but I have no mercy for people who make mistakes & started taking over his stars. when you directed movements, you could see small glyphids walking to the area. eventually I controlled one corner of the game. things were going well, so I started walking around. the bookshelves also had snack food around, & there were lots of like "gummy" foods like gummy plain pizza dough & you could buy gummy toppings. or gummy sushi. I ended up going on a double date with a guy who split gummy pizza with his person & then someone who split a gummy sushi with me. the sushi was actually really good. it was in one huge onigiri sized blob, but it was really tasty. the pizza guy wanted to trade some pizza for sushi but I didn't want to.
- forced to play engineer in deep rock galactic before i maxed out my scout. i was upset

Unlocking the Secrets of Slough’s Property Market with Langley Estate Agents
Introduction: Navigating the Maze
Welcome to the ever-changing world of Slough’s property market! Whether you’re a first-time buyer, an investor, or someone seeking more than just a roof over your head, this blog post is tailor-made for you. We’ll delve into the complexities of Slough’s real estate scene, and who better to guide us than the experts at Langley Estate Agents?
The Slough Scene: Not Just Any Area
Picture this: Slough, a town that sits snugly between the hustle of London and the tranquility of the countryside. It’s a place where Victorian terraces rub shoulders with sleek new developments, creating a unique tapestry of housing options. But don’t be fooled by its unassuming exterior—Slough’s property market is a realm of hidden gems and untapped potential.
The Numbers Game: What the Stats Say
Let’s get down to brass tacks. The average price of a property for sale in Slough currently hovers around £310,000. That’s not pocket change, but it’s a promising sign for those seeking a foothold in the property ladder. And if you’re a renter, brace yourself—the average monthly rent has spiked to £1,315. It’s like the property market decided to do a moonwalk while we weren’t looking!
Langley Estate Agents: Your Trusted Sidekicks
Now, let’s talk about the unsung heroes—the estate agents. Specifically, the meticulous folks at Langley Estate Agents. They’re not just here to slap a “For Sale” sign on your lawn; they’re your partners in this adventure. Langley agents know Slough like the back of their hand (and maybe even better). They’ve got the inside scoop on which streets are buzzing with potential and which ones are as quiet as a library during finals week.
What Makes Langley Estate Agents Stand Out?
Local Love: These agents aren’t parachuting in from Mars. They’re Slough locals who’ve sipped tea at the same cafes you have. They know where the best fish and chips joint is (hint: it’s not just about the fish—it’s about the crispy batter).
Market Whisperers: Langley agents can read the property market like fortune tellers. They’ll tell you if that charming cottage is a steal or a money pit. And they won’t even need a crystal ball (though they might have one stashed in their desk drawer, just for kicks).
Negotiation Ninjas: Ever tried haggling with a stubborn seller? It’s like playing chess against a grandmaster. But fear not—Langley agents have negotiation skills sharper than a sushi chef’s knife. They’ll get you the best deal without breaking a sweat.
Peek Behind the Curtain: Property Listings Galore
Langley Estate Agents have a treasure trove of properties waiting for their moment in the spotlight. From bijou apartments with skyline views to family homes with gardens big enough for a mini football match, they’ve got it all. And guess what? They won’t just hand you a brochure and vanish into thin air. Nope, they’ll walk you through each listing, pointing out the quirks and perks.
The Grand Finale: What Lies Ahead
As the property market evolves faster than a Pokémon evolving into its final form, Langley Estate Agents are right there in the thick of it. They’re not merely selling houses; they’re designing dreams. So, whether you’re a buyer, a seller, or just a curious soul peeking into the heart of Slough, Langley’s got your back.
In Conclusion: Knock, Knock—It’s Opportunity
Slough’s property market isn’t daunting—it’s an adventure waiting to happen. And Estate Agents in Langley? They’re the compass guiding you through uncharted territory. So, grab your metaphorical hiking boots (or actual ones if you’re feeling adventurous), and let’s explore Slough’s real estate wonderland together.
Remember, Langley isn’t just an estate agency—it’s the key to unlocking Slough’s secrets. Happy house hunting!

i think ill be able to actually draw some this weekend since i don't have an absurd amount of stuff going on now that I'm back home. like I do need to do cleaning and help girlfriend with repairing the knife drawer in the kitchen and figuring out how to fix the fan for the stove and figure out ordering iris's inhaler online. and we have other small errands we need to run like we need to return our books to the library and get more food for iris and stop by the dealership for my plates and we were planning on taking a walk. I also figured out what I wanted to do regarding my recently bleached hair so I need time on Saturday to try toning it to make it white. and I think we both forgot that girlfriend wanted to use the money her mom gave her for turning 40 to go out to eat at a fancy sushi place but we also went to a sushi bar with biotech friend in California so well see if she still wanted to do that. and I'm having a very swagful lunch with my homies on Sunday hopefully if it doesn't need to be rescheduled. and I also wanted to get blasted out my ass and play lies of pee at some point. but aside from that I'm not very busy so I should be able to draw cloud with a boob window sweater

Kyoto part 1: Sushi, coffee, International Manga Museum, Imperial Palace Grounds
Once we arrived in Kyoto, Charles and I checked into our Airbnb for the duration of our trip there. Since we had decided to stay an extra day in Osaka, we had a limited amount of time in Kyoto, but we had a pretty good idea of the things we most wanted to see/do so that helped keep us on task.
The Airbnb we stayed in was an apartment in a guest house, and it was so gorgeous, even better than it looked in photos! And it was pretty inexpensive as well. We were technically in Kamigyo ward, which is a little to the west of Kyoto Imperial Palace, and northwest of Nishiki Market and the International Manga Museum, which were our main goals for our stay.

We were both pretty hungry by this point, so we checked Google maps and realized we were close to a sushi restaurant that was pretty highly rated and also still open, so we walked there. Sure enough, it was super delicious! The place was called Daigen, and it was super fantastic! I think this was actually the only sushi we had the entire trip, but it was extremely extremely good. Even though they didn't really speak any English the staff was super friendly, and the Itamae (head sushi chef) was very very funny. We briefly spoke with some other guests there, including a Japanese-Canadian family that was super into running marathons (we later noticed flyers around for a Kyoto marathon and wondered if that was what brought them into town haha). Everyone was very kind and the chef gave everyone beer when we told him it was our honeymoon and extra shochu when I showed interest.

The Itamae also took a photo with us at Daigen, super super sweet people.

The next day was our only full day in Kyoto. We slept in a little bit just to catch up on our rest, and set out to Cafe Perch for breakfast. We actually ate here on our first visit to Japan, and it left a deep impresson on us -- it was the first time we ever had like, Japanese bread? And I don't mean pan, like, small rolls of bread or buns, but like, how they do sliced bread? It's quite different from how we have it, super fluffy and THICK sliced! The coffee at this place was super amazing. They had signs EVERYWHERE that said not to take photos so we didn't, but here's a Japanese blog post we found from an Instagrammer who clearly did it anyway. Maybe it can help give a general idea of the vibe; it had a similar Showa era old school feel to Royal Cafe in Asakusa, Tokyo, that we visited earlier, but with a more informal vibe. Jazz music was playing, there were lots of live plants, and tons of art and vintage stuff to look at lining the walls.
After leaving Perch, we set out to rent bicycles to get around for the day. Japan in general supports a lot of pedestrian and bike traffic (one of the first things that really stood out to us on our first visit!) and Kyoto in particular is super easy to navigate by cycle, especially since it's super flat. Two bikes for 24 hours were 700 yen each, around $10 total. Bikes function very differently than in the US; each bike has a lock on the back tire, so the owner gave us the keys for our rentals. Kyoto is pretty flat, so most bikes are cruiser style. It is an efficient way to get around and enjoy the scenery.

Next in our day was the International Manga Museum. I kind of don't even know where to start on this one, it's exactly what it sounds like!
Tumblr media
The entrance features shelves and shelves of manga from many countries all over the world; and further in are walls and walls of manga -- the museum also functions as a sort of library, so there are tons of desks around where you can sit and read to your heart's content while you're there. You can read anything you find, sit anywhere you find a seat, all they ask is you return it where you found the book. The main hall explains what manga is, how it is made, etc. and has huge walls of manga broken down by year it was made. There were lots of other small exhibits too. Another cool thing about this museum is that it's also a preserved local elementary school. Interspersed with the manga exhibits are displays and rooms explaining the history of the school, how it relates to the area, what a school day there may have been like, etc. Here's a main link to the International Manga Museum, and I'll probably do a seperate photo dump post for most of the photos we took there!

After the manga museum, we planned to go to the Kyoto Imperial Palace, but Charles was feeling a bit weird, so we decided to go back to our Airbnb to rest for a bit instead. After about an hour of napping, we decided to get back out there, but unfortunately, by the time we got there, the actual Imperial Palace area itself was closed, we could only walk around the grounds, which are now preserved basically as a park, including the Munakata Shrine.

These two photos were the main walk up to the Imperial Palace (the walled off area with the big gate) but it closed at 4 PM apparently. Womp womp. Still, the photos don't do it justice to how insanely huge the space is, especially the mountains off in the distance behind the palace.

These are Japanese apricot trees (we think? they also come up as Prunus Mume, which are plum blossom trees, so I'm not 1000% sure the most accurate name!)
It was a little disappointing to not get to go inside, but it was getting quite cold as the sun was going down, so we walked around the left side of the grounds before going to Nishiki Market, where we planned to get a bite to eat.
Next up, Nishiki Market! XOX0

January 13th: Boston, Massachusetts
This morning, we went to a breakfast place called the friendly toast. I ate chorizo eggs benedict. Absolutely delicious 😋
Next, we hopped on an Uber to go to the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, but unfortunately, the museum was sold out, so we walked over to the museum of Fine Arts just a short 5 min walk from us.
Admission was 27 dollars for adults. Inside, there are 3 floors to explore. We explored the 3rd and 2nd floors. Lots of gorgeous paintings and sculptures.
Next, we took another Lyft to the Boston Public Library, where we took some photos and rested our feet.
Our next stop was to H Mart (a Korean supermarket) where we had lunch. I had a chicken rice bowl, and the others had sushi.
We headed back to the apartment to rest and get ready to go to the American Repertory Theater to see my uncle in Real Women Have Curves The Musical.
The show was absolutely incredible and moving. I'm so glad we were able to come and see him in the show because it was magical.
To end the night, we went to dinner at a Mexican restaurant named The Painted Burro. I had two tacos, rice, beans, and a passion fruit margarita. Delicious!
Tomorrow will be colder, so I will have to bundle up warm to explore more of Boston.
See you tomorrow!
