In thoughts mostly unrelated to that - with all the "send in your spearmaster/gourmand/hunter/five pebbles/whatever" type things going around the Rain World fandom, we wonder if anyone'd be interested in, like, submitting their characters into a "your characters will probably die" type event?

We've recently been reminded of the existence of the BrantSteele Hunger Games Simulator, and loading it up with canon characters plus a bunch of OCs sounds like the kind of thing that could easily be fun. The day/night system it has might be interesting for making, like, some kind of Event, too. Scheduled posts and such. Could probably set up a theme for letting people track their favored contestants throughout the... however long it takes.

If there's interest, we'll probably make a "submit your characters" post, if there's not, then there's no need to strike a fuss.

i think my favourite version of thor and loki's powers are that loki while born with a lot of magic needs to learn how to tap in and use it, hence the centuries of studying it to do so efficiently, while thor was born with a lot of it and needs to learn how to turn it off - which he doesn't, and gets Mjolnir for it instead. all of this innate magic starts to actually manifest around puberty tho for the sole purpose of comedy.

#i'd say loki stabbing thor at age 7/8 doesn't work because of puberty but kids start growing hair around then so it could #but also this way we don't have out of control magical babies #ya dig?#Loki being a few years younger than Thor and looking up to his bro who does lightning ~magic~#Thor like it's not magic!!!!! it's power and that is completely different !!! 😓 and Loki is like 6 going no it's magic 😠#Loki thinking his magic is going to be like Thor's and be vaguely blue or like lightning or rain or something #and then it's GREEN and he's slightly disappointed... but hey Frigga's is green and she jokes she shared her magic with him #Thor's magic coming ready-made as lightning while Loki's is just plain magic that needs to be given some direction is funny tho #Thor wearing red because he doesn't embrace his blue magic and doesn't want people to associate him with it #(using mjolnir makes it different to actually *using magic* because it's being channeled through something I guess?)#Loki wearing green because he does embrace his green magic and sees it as cool and something Thor and he share #hmmm that'll probably be important when they're older #anyway huge fan of Thor losing Mjolnir and Thor having issues making his lightning work properly after that #like he's got no practice in starting or stopping the magic and his body isn't used to channeling ANY of it #it's like puberty all over again except he's way too old for it and Loki is laughing

the dogs go out to wee for the last time before bed around 10pm-12am each day and obviously it's terrible weather for that (we didnt quite get 100mm of rain today, but it was close and it's not getting any lighter anytime soon) so i finally got them to go out at 1am

georgie did what i expected of just barely stepping onto the grass and immediately coming back in

but billy had to do his usual routine of running all over the yard for about 5 minutes and he is the soggiest, saddest little creature ive ever seen

#and he doesnt like being wet so he's diving all over the sofa trying to rub himself dry. like buddy this is on you #obv i helped him out and dried him as much as i could but i was calling him to come in that whole time and he did NOT care #oh well at least they went out and i dont have to worry about that anymore tonight #peach already peed on some cushions today because she couldnt use her litter tray on the balcony #she has two inside but was so disrupted in her routine that she ignored them and also the cushions were brought in from outside #so they were new and she didnt know they werent a toilet #at least the rain will finally stop around 6am so tomorrow will be better. but very muddy. the balcony will be fine for peach tho #personal #im just glad it's not stormy. just VERY rainy. i love the sound of rain just not thunder #we did get minor flooding up to the door tho. the back door has a small step and then paving and the paving got flooded #which is what i expected. very heavy rain will usually flood the paving and we're prepared for that

Just remembered that for a good few years in upper elementary we didn't have a playground so they would send us out to play in the big empty parking lot behind the school and when highschool kids would drive over for sports practice they would actively try to hit us with their cars and we would get in trouble for almost being vehicularly manslaughtered because the parking lot is for cars and we're just guests

#that post abt what u did at recess knocked some memories loose #the only things we had 2 play w/ were chalk sports balls and loose chunks of asphalt #i vividl remember waiting 4 it 2 rain so my friend and i could use the reflective puddle surface and paper notes 2 try and contact the dead #but mostly we all just stood around and started fights bc we were all young children being sent 2 play in a big empty paved over hellscape #like at least a field would have dirt and grass and sticks 2 throw at eachother #i remember basically nothing abt those times bc we literally were just standing in a parking lot as a big crowd being miserable #like a music festival that had been cancelled but they wouldn't let u leave
