Day 31: A letter to Inception fandom | @inception30daychallenge

Dear Inception Fandom,

The first word that comes to my mind when I think of this fandom is: "home"

Because it sure does feel like home to me. It's a safe, cozy, beautiful place filled with super kind and talented, lovely people. This fandom makes me truly feel so peaceful, and I know we all feel the same about that.

One of the reasons why this fandom feels like home to me is also because: you know how you find yourself wishing to get back home especially after having a long day? Because you know you’ll be able to be yourself there and you’ll feel relaxed, comfortable and good? Yeah, exactly that.

It’s the fandom I keep getting back to— no matter how much sometimes I’m busy obsessing over something else. Inception and the Inception Fandom are always in a corner of my mind. Nothing will ever change that. Nothing. I’ll be honest: I don’t remember feeling that relaxed and good in any other fandom as much as I did in this fandom.

It's home.

I love how this fandom is still here after all these years, and I know that it'll always be here— which makes me feel so happy and grateful.

I want to say a big "THANK YOU" to the fan artists who spend so many hours creating amazing stuff, painting, drawing, writing, giffing, editing videos and much more. Thank you for sharing all these with us and making our days much better with your amazing posts. Thank you for your work, your passion, your time. We appreciate the dedication you put into your works way too much.

I want so say a big “THANK YOU” to the each member of the fandom for being here, for sharing their love for Inception, and for their existence.

For being so welcoming and allowing us to just be ourselves.

The end of the Love on Tour era

I don't even know what to say or where to begin. Love on Tour is coming to an end and a part of me can't help but feel like I'm losing something. It's an ineffable feeling that I can't quite describe but it's been weighing on me for a while now.

I have lived this tour with so many in this fandom, and right along with Harry. It has been a part of my life for nearly 3 years. And even though the universe, fate and COVID conspired against me, it's hard to be bitter about not seeing the this tour live (though I could muster a rant at the drop of hat if the mood should move me). I can safely say of the 174 shows he performed, I was there, via livestream, for most of them.

I've last track of endless cities, countries, setlists, outfit changes, band members coming& going, IG accounts that went live & the thousands of interactions Harry has had with his fans & I've had with my moots every show night here on Twitter. But I will never forget the happiness it brought me. I have little to regret for how I've spent my time these last 3 years. Given what has transpired since this tour started, I'm more than grateful and feel blessed that I got to spend so much of it with Harry and my beautiful moots.

Love on Tour really became my personal happy, rainbow tinged bubble that I would seal myself inside of every show night and enjoy watching Harry get to live out his dream & share his god given talent with us. I was lucky enough to have a front row seat, to cheer him on. Laughing at his goofy antics & endlessly meme-able facial expressions. My heart swelling with pride to see his genuine interest & concern for his fans enjoyment & safety every show. Sitting in awe of his humility as he became overwhelmed by it all.

I get it Harry, being loved by so many and having such success, can be terrifyingly overwhelming & every time you hid your face in your hands, I'd say a little prayer for you, hoping you'd never experience anything but this kind of happiness for the entirety of your life. Knowing deep down that it's not in my power to grant such a blessing.

So thank you Harry. I've loved every single minute. Thank you to the Love band for being amazing and such a supportive and close knit tour family for Harry while on the road. Thank you to the crew and bus drivers and the pilots for transporting our guy safely to and from all his tour stops. Thank you to the craft services people for feeding my son healthy, nutritious meals so he could stay strong & perform at his peak.

Thank you to the fans that came out and showed Harry nothing but love and joy by singing their hearts out, dancing, dressing up in every manner of fruit and for not throwing shit at him. Thank you to all the dedicated, selfless fans who went live for each show making it possible for so many fans, like myself who could not attend, get to experience Love on Tour in all it's amazing glitchy, technicolour. Seriously some of those lives were excruciating but we clung to them for dear life. Bless you all. Thanks to all the UAs & fans who kept us updated on all the concert shenanigans.

And thank you to all my moots who filled my timeline (Twitter and Tumblr) with endless pictures, videos, memes, gifs, emojis, alphabet screams and laughter over the course of the last 3 years. It has been a fucking adventure and an honour to have experienced Love on Tour with all of you. Special shout out to my group chat moots for letting me rant, vent and scream about a certain stunt that shall remain nameless. Ti amo.

Whatever happens after Saturday, I know Harry will have felt our love and I know he won't stay away forever, because he loves us just as much. He is our happy place and we are his.

So until next time remember to put love out into the world. Be kind to yourself. And never take a single minute for granted.

She is one of the few people I genuinely look forward to talking with, and her reactions always make my day.

🎨 - link your favourite piece of fanart and explain why you like it

Ohhh man this is so tough. There's such a plethora of talented artists in the fandom. This might be a copout answer, but genuinely anybody who's been kind enough to make fanart of something I've written. It never ceases to be the highest compliment ever. The ones I've gotten for Hockey AU, Star!Bojan, Good Omens AU and even the Monsterfucker one are all so so so dear in my heart because it means that something I did inspired someone else, and it's this beautiful feedback loop of art and creating.

🌿 - give some advice on writer's block and low creativity

So I wanted to sit on this one for a minute today and not just give a ramble, as I'm prone to do. Writer's block and low creativity happen to nearly every artist across the board and anybody who says different is a liar. So, trying as best as I can, here are my top tips for writer's block and low creativity.

1. Read books: This is probably my biggest piece of advice. I think of this like putting fuel in the tank. You can't go for a run if you're not eating properly, and writing is the same way. Sure, you can read fanfiction, you can watch movies/tv, you can look at art. All of these are fine and great, but nothing gets the brain going the same way as when you read a published, edited book. Exploring genres and styles you don't typically go for can bring about a lot of inspiration and help you:

a) Feel reassured about your own writing habits and -isms when you see that skilled authors also have repeat phrases they like or certain quirks.

b) Find new things to test out in your own toolbox.

When you engage with literature, like really slow down and read and study what an author is doing, you're learning so so so much just through that simple act. It can also bring about great ideas too, which is why I suggest a balance of both fiction and non-fiction.

2. Find what works for you: This is a bit vague, but let me explain. Some writers thrive under consistency while others need variety. Some, like myself, need both. I know I consistently need a somewhat quiet environment where I can feel alone, but staring at a wall all day can get dull. Sometimes switching the font up on your document can help. Or changing the background color. Putting on new music. Sitting somewhere new. It's adapting to your mood that day and working with it.

3. Write even when you don't feel like it: We all have off days. A really common obstacle for people who go to the gym is that you go through periods where you LOVE going, but then you have periods where you absolutely loathe it. Writing is like that. The brain is a muscle and creativity is the skill you're honing. Some days you'll have a great workout, others you'll have a shit one. That's fine!

It doesn't mean you're shit. What matters is that you're showing up and staying consistent. When I'm having a 'shit' writing day, I say, "Okay, just write one sentence." Usually that turns into a handful, sometimes if I'm lucky it turns into a paragraph. But that's all I'll do for the day because, hey, we're not gonna churn out 2k+ words everyday. That would be insane. Sometimes 200 is plenty.

4. Let go of perfection: This one is tough... I know. But practicing the ability to turn off the little critic in our heads is sooooo important. It comes easier to some than others, but it's still a skill you can work on. It's kinda linked with what I wrote above, but sometimes you can just write like shit and that's fine. Chances are it's not as bad as you think it is, but powering through and getting something down on the page is better than nothing, even if it's just a garbled half-formed idea. You can always come back and fill things in later!

I hope some of this made sense! I'm always happy to chat craft with people :) It can be very subjective, but I do believe in the old adage regarding art that once you know the rules, you can break them.

Did you see the update from GallaPlacidia (her email newsletter) that she’s deleting all her fics and podfics 10/1? I mostly most Good Omens stuff so I doubt my followers have read her stuff. I just want to pass along the word so people could download if they want to save her works. They’re all so good! I’ve always loved your posts and you seem to have a wide audience so figured I’d reach out to you, if you’d like to share the info. And if anyone has suggestions on how to save her podfics that would be helpful! I listen to them on my phone and have no idea how to download them. 🤪

Oh no, that’s heartbreaking news! I don’t receive her newsletter so I had no idea. How sad, I know lots of people love her work and will be truly devastated 😰😰 thanks for reaching out and sharing this, I am definitely saving my favourites and I hope everyone has the chance to do the same. Oh and good question about podfics, I’ve never downloaded any either but maybe my followers have some tips to share? Happy New Year! Surprising absolutely no one I wasn’t able to finish this in time for NYE, oops!(And that’s why ‘stop procrastinating’ is on my resolutions list 😂). This post probably has tons of typos still so please bear with me, I promise I’ll be back later to correct them!

Simply put, 2021 was a train wreck - I struggled in many ways and decided to take a step back in some regards, including fandom. It’s been a bumpy road but despite the low amount of recs this blog has survived and there were definitely some things to celebrate, too! Once I stopped making reclists I got more free time to read, and I’m proud to say I’ve read a lot. I haven’t felt very confident about my reccing lately, but as I went through my bookmarks and noticed how much I read last year I thought why not spread a bit of love for these works?

Without further ado here are my favorite reads of 2021 featuring Drarry, rare pairs and some gorgeous artworks. This is not intended to be an ultimate list - the works below were chosen solely based on my personal preferences and they reflect very little of what’s been made last year, and what a year it was! Between brilliant microfics, Tumblr drabbles, top notch quality fests, there’s some amazing and varied content to be explored all around. I hope you guys enjoy these works as much as I did, and don’t forget to leave kudos and comments!

The Drarry fandom gave me so much last year; it was there to mend my heart and help me bounce back when I needed it the most. Even the smaller things can make a huge difference in the big picture, and I’m immensely grateful to those who have somehow been a part of it. Phoenix in the Fire by @fw00shy (Explicit, 1.4k)

Their first time was an accident. "Sex pollen," Draco claims, though everyone knows it was too much Ogden's after Puddlemere beat the Tornados 240-230.

This is truly a masterclass in short form, I think I hadn’t read a short fic so gorgeously written since Still Life. Fwoosh took my breath away with the precise choice of words, the subtle way the scenes blend into each other, the sinful smut full of sharp want, the smooth pacing and fabulous dialogue including delicious dirty talk and beautiful punchlines.

The Long Fall by @tackytigerfic (Mature, 3.6k)

It's supposed to be a simple house renovation, and maybe it's just the paint fumes, but Harry is feeling dizzy around Draco Malfoy. And what's the real meaning of family, anyway?

One of my favorite comfort fics, I’ve reread this more times than I can count. Tacky captures romance, wistful pining and the sense of belonging like no one else, I was moved by this devastatingly realistic portrait of married and parenting life. Sensitive, brutally honest and so very tender, this story hits right in the feels - it’s a pleasure to follow every exciting step of this big adventure Harry and Draco get to share.

Two Starts, One Finish by @lqtraintracks (Explicit, 5.4k)

I feel him before I see him. Nobody stands this close to me while I’m playing, and I’m about to turn to tell him so when he says, “You’re a tough bloke to track down,” and then leans against my baby grand.

When I first read this fic I did it three times in a row. I was so charmed and moved by this particular brand of angst: the gentle wistfulness of Draco’s voice, his yearning for Harry, their quiet domestic life and their intense chemistry made my heart burst. Lqt develops their emotional arc through the passage of time with precision and heart - nothing feels rushed, dragged or unimportant. One of the most romantic fics I’ve read this year.

Inside These Walls by @jackvbriefs (Mature, 5.6k)

The year before Draco moves to Los Angeles, Harry Potter disappears. Draco doesn't mean to find him. He's just doing his job.

This fic has one of my favorite premises ever, so creative! The roller blade magic blew my mind and I was obsessed with the intriguing atmosphere and the tension build up. Delicious eerie vibes mixed with an unusual setting, a dark mystery surrounding Harry’s job and his oh so casual sexy display of power, yes please. This suspense is a feast to the senses and will leave you at the edge of your seat until the last line, craving for more.

Potter isn’t nearly as slick as he thinks he is, is all Draco can think about through the alcohol haze and the dizzying atmosphere of the club. He really, really isn’t. Potter is across the club, surrounded by his usual entourage, looking at Draco when he thinks Draco isn’t looking back.

There’s something to be said about a BDSM fic featured on this reclist as I rarely read this kind of smut. Trust Mari to turn my world upside down with one of the most touching love stories ever. This conflicted Draco and his devotion to Harry -subverting the D/s dynamics we usually see- caught me off guard and made my heart ache for this hot, tenderly vulnerable and unapologetic kink exploration delight.

The Other Cottage by @corvuscrowned (Teen and Up, 6.5k)

If Pansy wasn’t shagging Ginny Weasley, Draco would never have been dragged to Luna’s ridiculous Halloween party in the first place - meaning he wouldn't be sitting in the corner of the room with Harry Potter all night.

One word: chills! Yet another mind blowing suspense, this fic gave me palpitations - the smooth and clever narrative builds a disturbing atmosphere, the creepy sense of unease looming over our heads while watching a tender romance unfold. Crazy, right? Such skill! Really creative concept and a jaw dropping ending, this one is a banger.

A Grey Shrike Alighted upon my Wishbone by @opalesqueopioid (Explicit, 7k)

Cursed to forget everything about Harry Potter, Draco has to kill if he wants a cure.

Gosh, this stunning fic wrecked my heart and soul with its quiet devastation, gorgeous prose and brilliant execution of a quite unique suds concept. Draco’s sharp personality took my breath away and I was equally undone by Harry’s sweet longing, the back-and-forth banter and the raw, inevitable heartbreak. Here’s a poignant portrait of a collapsing relationship, the best pick for angsty days.

Merlin's Kitchen by @writcraft (Explicit, 12k)

Merlin’s Kitchen is a shit nightclub but having sex with Harry Potter might improve things.

Everything by Writcraft has the heart kick factor for me, as if especially crafted to meet my tastes. This sexy clubbing fic has a delicious lively pub atmosphere that makes you feel like you’re right there, watching a carefree and smooth Harry charm Draco with his openness, and be charmed back. Fabulous characterization and gorgeous dialogue, with a mature tone that gives it a thrilling sense of intimacy and promise.

My #1 post of 2022

It’s fascinating how some people dismiss smut as something frivolous, vain, lacking substance and therefore value. To be clear, sex is not (and should never be seen as) mandatory in fic, and I feel heartbroken that some authors think they need to include it in order to have their work read or appreciated.

But in my opinion PWPs can be just as deep, nuanced, evocative and narratively powerful as any other story. In fact, they make for excellent character studies and can get you inside a character’s mind in a very particular way. And smut scenes in long fics can be just as useful as narrative tools, often translating dynamics too complex to be explored otherwise. Plus, they’re great for sad horny nights 😔🙌

Loved your New Year's fic so much! You are so good at picking apart those lesser known/explored eras of them and breathing life into them. The Chase Years, their reunion, Triniti Gate/Court and now the years that follow the events in QotD and pre-date Memnoch. There are a lot of extremely talented writers in this fandom and you're one of them and this right here is what I love the most about your fics. This period in particular is a tough one, there's tension and turbulence and uncertainty on both sides but the love is so so palpable and they're still trying 😭 Obsessed! Happy New Year! xoxo DA ❤️

I'm so glad you liked the New Years Fic! I really do enjoy crawling into this crevices left by canon and trying to fill in some of those gaps (there are so very many!) It's fun to try and figure out how Armand and Daniel think/act/feel differently in various periods of their lives, how different points in time changes them and their dynamic. The post QotD period is one we get so little about for them, it's really depressing, but it does make it fun to go in there and see what I can do with it.

The tension and uncertainty is so sad because they do love each other so much, but there's just so much disconnect and they suck at communicating, so they're both just flailing around trying to figure out what to do. I think Armand wants to fix it as much as Daniel does, but Armand is more and more convinced that Daniel is going to leave him and be done with him soon, so it's just easier to push him away. 😭

And yes, there are so many amazing writers in this fandom, I feel lucky to be in a small fandom that's so full of talent and creativity for sure.

Reflecting on 2022

Good Mornin'! I'm sitting here with my morning coffee with New Years Eve finally arriving on my side of the world. There are aspects of 2023 I am hugely looking forward to and other things that are making me dread it. We have a lot going on over on my side of the world, and I apologize if New Years comes with an aura of sadness to it. Always will for personal family reasons. Looking back, looking forward.... two sides of the coin.

But let’s focus on just the one, at the moment. Yes?

Things of my own I am proud of: There are times this is very easy. And other times when I hate all of it. I'll let you guess which New Years brings out.

CRAFTWORKS: This doily hits all of my favorites. Texture, shades of blue, and subtle fandom reference.

I won’t have the pretty graphs like Bri did when she did her summary, but I can give some basic stats - with a margin for error for stories that overlap years and such. But according to AO3 - I wrote 132K words in 2022, across 19 works. I don’t need the stats to know my top characters were Virgil and Gordon, because to no one’s surprise I write FishTank. And my genres are gonna be AU, angst, feels, and lol this was a fluff prompt. :D

I am filled with an immense amount of gratefulness for all the engagement and for those that welcomed my silly ideas into your brainspaces. We have a lot of writers in Thunderfam - a lot of amazing writer’s and despite all that you decided to give my sailors and chickens and dolphins a try. <3

In 2023 I think it may be time to step out of the AUs. I want my writing to feel approachable, and as much as I love these ideas, after awhile it might become old hat. We’ll see - they are also my playground and all three have so much still to explore. I also want to write some of the grand old BootScoot and Space Cadet. I like the Tracy boys, not just FishTank, and surprise! Earth & Sky was my first brotp, you know.

And this particular year, I leaned a lot on @the-original-sineater for my sanity checks so a huge thank you as well to Sin for being the first set of eyes on a lot of these this year. It is so appreciated and I am lucky to have you as a friend.

Other Things

There is so much artwork that fills me with joy, and I know I will forget folks, so I won’t tag. But if you’ve posted artwork, this is geared towards you. I have 0 talent at drawing, so I am always amazed when I see ideas come to life in that way. I don’t know how we got so lucky to have so many talented folks sharing their art with us, but we do and major <3 for it.

All of our writers. Again. I will forget folks, but I value all of our wonderful voices. Unfortunately, I didn’t keep up with commenting when spoons were low, even though I said I was going to do better. I will have to keep working on it. And same as above. We are so lucky to have the quantity and QUALITY of fics we do.

To readers, commenters, kudos-givers - we see you, we love you. Thank you for all you do!

To the crafty folks - I love seeing your work, your WIPS, and talking about different techniques and inspirations. I hope we can keep it up in 2023! Just from 2022 alone, I learned Tunisian Crochet, and am about to finish my first garter stitch knit scarf. And this is from a life-long crocheter! You all are inspirations to me and I can’t even imagine what 2023 will bring.

To the RP crowd - thanks for playing with my silly Gordon and giving him the space when I need to step back. It’s been so fun stepping into his flippers in this new way.

And finally, to friendships continued! It’s with @janetm74‘s encouragement I joined tumblr again, and I will never forget that back when I posted Scenes. I’ve only continued to get to know more of you, and though it’s only been my first FULL year in fandom (getting close to 2 total), there are new voices, new voices to me, and I get to learn more about this group of people everyday. My life is better with you all in it, even if we don’t interact everyday.

Happy 2023 - at some point I need to watch Captain Scarlet so I can catch up with all of your cross-overs!!

Not really much to say today because my brain is too tired and sleep deprived but yelling about your writing shall come eventually xD, as for assumptions, hm...

Likes The Legend of Zelda obviously, favorite game is probably a tie between Twilight Princess, Ocarina of Time and or Majora's Mask and Skyward Sword, possibly one of them was your first game too.

Really kind and patient person, though quite clever too and talented given your merch, you have a lot of asks and presumably a lot on your plate but still manage to answer as many as possible and don't mind people rambling here about different concepts or series and also write with a good degree of frequency, also quite firm to put your foot down when you're not okay with something, not in a bad way! More in a fair sense, and willing to offer an ear or empathy if someone's having a hard time, not many people can do that while keeping a level head.

Very cozy? The type of person who's very comfortable to be around in a sense, the type you think is really cool even if you only interacted once, but definitely the type someone might feel shy when actually approaching to interact or who might not go through with talking with as a result of said ahyness, plus your writing really makes my day some times, specially during bad ones, nothing better than suddenly find out you posted and reading through it with a mug of coffee or a cup of tea while my dog is curled up nearby, specially after some tiring days. Like a warm cappuccino cup with a book on an autumn afternoon if you will.

So over all someone who's doing their best and who anyone would be lucky to be friends with really ^^

Also Twilight is definitely one of your favorite Links, I have no idea who the runner up to him could be (possibly Time, because we all are simply Circe and Calypso when in the face of that man who'd give Odysseus a run for his money), but you can definitely talk about him for a long time and as a Twilight enjoyer that delights me a lot XD

Anyway, not really much to say besides that which likely has not been said before, so once again, thank you for all your work in the fandom, for inspiring me a d of course I hope you have many nice days and nights ahead of you!

Hello! First, I would like to thank you for blessing the Star Trek fandom with your art, you are truly talented and skillful and we are so lucky to have you.

I just wanted to express my admiration for how you are handling this green Spock debacle. I used to be an artist in the Star Trek fandom but I stopped posting and deleted my work because of this forced drama led to me being harassed.

So many artists online right now live in fear of being added to some stupid fandom discord server’s blocklist of problematique creators and it’s so insanely stifling for creativity.

In reality many of the people pushing these sorts if forced discourse are young and just want to help, but many many more are likely skillless people who think bullying those who have put the time and effort into creating will result in the entire fandom catering to their preferences. Maybe they should just draw it themselves then hm??

Sorry for ranting at you, I really admire you. And thank you again for creating here on Tumblr for us, there are many who appreciate your work for the joy it sparks.

And oh my goodness NO, I am so sorry that happened to you - please, if it were ever possible, do as your creative heart desires and post your art - I know this may not be much, but I hope to at least reassure you that you are not alone as those of us like me are here with you against the odds!

And please, do not apologise for I see no such rant - BE MAD!!!

I am so sorry and angry about all of those who have done such heinous action towards you and others who justly do not pink-ify Spock and see through the mishandled veil of the "anti-Semitism of Spock".

I am very aware of what kinds of people are stuck in that group (now seems more to be a MOB), and harassment will never be tolerated. So far it seems I have been lucky to not have been persecuted to such an uncivilised extent (yet - of course, if anyone dares).

Why has it been starting to feel like there has been an ancient pain that has ailed and continued to be harboured by some large, silent part of the Star Trek community about this topic - and I do not mean those who stand against "green Spock".

How many creators in this fandom have been crushed under this ill-educated fear-mongering all these decades?

Just how much of a rare case am I as one who sees through it and maintains my stance against the sore opposition on this matter?

Is this degree of crude treatment of others really what also fills the Star Trek community, and how pervasively? Perfectly wasteful and dishonourable to others and such beautiful source material; utterly saddening; embarrassing...

I am appalled.

I hope you can find it in yourself some time to come back and start freely sharing your art with us once more. We, and at the very least I, would love to see it and welcome your return - as well as to the rest of you who have undergone similar strife.

For the character meme, how about Red from Transistor?

Why I like them:

I think my starting point is probably her design. The bright shock of wavy red hair contrasting with those electric blue eyes. She's very delicate and beautiful, but her torn dress and big black jacket have such a punk edge. I love the use of in-universe songs in the game, and of course the songs themselves, how sharp and brooding they can be, how they're open to interpretation. Because she's silent and the game's world-building is sparse, you have a lot of freedom to imagine what her history was like, what she does on a day off, what she was thinking at different point in the game. It's a level of freedom you often don't get in modern games. At the same time, there are enough clues that you can see the shape of Red – passion, resilience, melancholy, humor, protectiveness – even if not every detail is filled out.

Why I don't:

I admit, on my first playthrough, when I learned she'd gone to the fancy school and gone with really unique Selections and was the most famous singer in Cloudbank, I rolled my eyes because it all felt so special. Those sorts of things can take the place of interesting traits in underwritten characters, but I ultimately felt the game didn't fall into that trap. Yes, Red is unique and extremely famous, but judging by songs like “The Spine” (and the Camerata's plans) it has consequences, and bad ones.

Favorite scene:

Hard to pick one. I'm mentally walking through the game to see what stands out... It's also hard to isolate a scene that's more about Red than the Boxer. Love the “You turned left” moment, love the chilly isolation of the scene where she first finds Boxer, love the flatbread break, love all the stuff leading up to the Spine, love her flying across the city on the Process... Maybe for a scene that's very much about Red, it could be her creating the bridge to Fairview. I just feel like we're seeing right into her heart there, maybe even her subconscious. The intimacy of the nude reaching statues, the mosaic of the clasped hands, the tree-shaded visuals. The way that (as I recall) that's where she lands after the final battle.

Oh, no, wait, I just remembered – her putting him in the Cradle. That's the best moment.

Favorite line:

The first one I think of is “I'm going to find the thing that's doing this and rip its heart out.” (Or words to that effect.) I also really like the cadence of I see the spine of the world/ Sparkle and shine, light the inside.

Favorite outfit:

I like both the torn and intact versions of her dress. I also really like some of the unused concept dresses. But I'm really intrigued by the off-the-shoulder outfit she wears in the coffee image at the end. Is it pjs? Is it a dress? I've interpreted it as a purple blouse in some pics. I just like this insight to who she is when not on stage, alone with her sweetie.

OTP:

Speaking of! The Boxer! It's one of the most romantic games I've ever played and I love it for that.

BROTP:

I've never actually headcanoned her being close to any of the other characters. I imagine she and Darzi probably knew each other socially, and that might have led her to meeting Lillian. I can also see Wave interviewing her for his show. I think the Sybil thing was one-sided, even on a merely friendship level. But if we branch out to other Supergiant titles, I think she and Pamitha would get along.

Head Canon:

Oh, lots. Off the top of my head, I think she came from very humble beginnings, even more so than Boxer. Part of her success was hard work, part was talent, but a lot of it was when she got lucky and received a Traverson scholarship. Given how quickly she takes to combat, I see her as scrappy and, as Boxer says, always having a plan, and I think coming up out of nowhere works well with that.

Unpopular Opinion:

Hmm, I'm not sure the fandom is divisive enough. (Thank goodness.) I've seen some fics that cast Red as extremely elegant and very polished, and like I said above, I see her as pretty hardscrabble and even emotionally cold at times. In my head, Boxer is the warmer, softer partner.

A wish:

I would love a comic adaptation of the game, especially if it leaned into the game's art style. Or a wish for Red herself? I mean, emotionally I want to think she and Boxer could find some way out of the Transistor. At the same time, it runs the risk of weakening the ending.

Please-don't-ever-happen:

Like the last question, I look at this in more of a meta way. Like, what could Supergiant do to Red that would really upset me? Expand on her story – no, that'd be exciting. A piece of media where she talked? That'd be great. A full album of Red songs? Yes, please! I guess I'd be upset if they continued the story and had Red and Boxer become disillusioned with each other – and they broke up permanently. I'm sorry, I just love them so much together.

Sorry I missed getting to this yesterday, got busy! I hope you got better sleep yesterday night after pulling an all nighter the night before 😭.

No but same, my younger one is the one that bothers my oldest and starts fights and for the longest time the older one wouldn't even do anything but cry but now she fights back lmao each day there's fur on the ground like it was a battle. YOU'VE GOT THE CUTEST CATS PLS. They're so so precious awh you're making me want several more cats ☹️

Oh psychology is definitely so interesting. I did it as a subject for two years in school before choosing it as my undergrad. I wish I had gotten to learn criminal psychology as a module! Rather than area, I've just got favorite topics. Like attachment theory, which I think deserves to be common knowledge for everyone, it'd just promote a little bit more understanding.

Lmao love that we both ended up doing nothing with the instruments we bought. I think the problem was I tried to teach myself when really I needed classes so that there was structure. But oh well. I don't think I'm particularly musically talented anyways 😅 painting IS cool! I'm not like, too advanced in it so I always think other people's art is just so unbelievable.

Aw please that's so sweet! And to see the impact the one show had on you and your interests! I think one of my fondest memories is when I first got to meet my best friend; knew her from stan twt and was thrilled when she moved to the country I was staying in. That first meeting filled with nerves and excitement will always be precious to me, and I'm lucky I got to see her a couple more times after that.

love that we are both the same with instruments djdkdkd i think i’m also someone who gets super frustrated if i’m not immediately good at something so i lose all interest which isn’t. good lmao my brother played guitar and he taught me for a bit before i abandoned it, but yeah i think going to classes and having structure would’ve benefited me as well 💀 and yes! i always watch oil painting videos or restoration of art videos before bed. they calm my mind and just fascinate me to watch

awe i love that. i love how fandom can bring people together. some of my closest friends and best memories with people have come from the relationship we have with fandoms. i’m so glad you guys were able to meet and have that time together. so many people who meet over stan culture don’t have that so it’s always so special when you’re able to meet these people you’ve grown so close to 🥺🤍
