Isabella ran to her room, her eyes welling up with tears, leaving you and Max bewildered. With widened eyes, you glanced at Max, wondering where you went wrong.
You had simply told her, with what you thought was proper precautions, that you and Max were together. Isabella looked between you and Max for a single second before shaking her head and leaving the room.
You didn't think twice before following her, finding her cuddling her second favourite teddy bear as tears stained her cheeks. "Oh, angel" you muttered as you sat beside her on her bed.
"Talk to me, sweetheart, do you not like Max?" you prompted. Isabella glanced up at you for a moment. Unbeknownst to you, she did it to check if you were upset with her before she could form a response but once she only saw comfort, she opened up about the situation.
"He's a good friend," she started and you nodded along but remained silent. "But will you still love me if you like him?" Hearing her words, your heart broke. You wanted to know what prompted her to ask such a serious question, but you focused on addressing it first.
"I have loved you from the day you were born," you began, deciding to hold back on sharing the information that you even loved her while you were pregnant, mainly because you didn't want to start a new set of questions relating to pregnancy just yet. "I love you, Isabella, and my relationship with Max won't ever change that."
Isabella decided that the comfort she received from the teddy bear wasn't enough, so she gently placed it to the side before crawling up into your lap. "Are you still going to spend time with me? Because daddy stopped doing that."
Her question helped you see where her unease of your relationship with Max came from. "Daddy was busy with work, it wasn't because of a relationship, Bella." You didn't want her to believe Emma was the source of the problem, even if she had broken up with Tyler.
Isabella's mouth dropped open, slowly understanding the situation but then she pouted, "daddy's always busy with work."
"He's trying his best," you didn't want to influence a negative father-daughter relationship between them with your words, even though you wanted to agree with her. Plus you hoped that Tyler would clean up his act and become a present father. However, lately that hope has started to die down.
"It's okay, Maxy spends time with me," Isabella added and you faintly smiled at the slight positive turn the conversation took. "Yes he does, did you know he's inviting us to the next race?"
That sparked a happier reaction out of your daughter, "really?" You nodded, "yeah, do you want to go?" While she was buzzing with excitement at the idea of going to another race, you also noticed her hesitation to give you an answer. "You don't have to tell me now, think about it okay?"
Isabella smiled, pleased that you understood her better than she did herself. Wrapping her arms around you, she mumbled, "okay, mama."
You hugged her a little tighter than you usually do. "I promise nothing will change between us, it's just that mama likes Maxy a lot and wants to be with him too," you explained and felt her nod against you.
You didn't let go until she did first, and she looked at you with a mix of confusion and mischief, "so like the three of us together?" Wiping away her drying tears, you were surprised by the significant change in her mood but was also glad that she was no longer crying.
"Yes, what do you think?" You prompted again, back to square one but this time you received a much more positive reaction. "Mama, Maxy, and me, I like that."
Then she giggled, "Maxy, you can come in now," she spoke, looking at the door that was left ajar. Hearing her words, Max entered her room with a tightlipped smile, not liking the fact that he was caught.
"I didn't mean to stand there, I was just worried about you." Although he entered the room, he still stood by the door. He heard your entire conversation and knew that Isabella would be fine with your relationship, but she just needed time to adjust. However, he was still wary on her opinion of him.
Isabella wiggled off your lap and stepped closer to Max. She gestured with her hand, asking him crouch down so she could be at eye-level with him. "My mama likes you, do you like her?"
"I like her a lot," he answered after a split second of hesitation because he was about to say the wrong L word, but he didn't want to overwhelm Isabella, or you for that matter. Even though deep down he knew you returned the sentiment, it just wasn't said out loud yet.
He knew that you would prefer to know Isabella's thoughts on your relationship before it goes any further, and he was totally okay with that.
"Are you going to take car of her?" Isabella asked with her hands on her hips, attempting to look slightly intimidating. Max didn't have the strength to tell her that she looked more cute than intimidating. "Always."
Dropping her "intimidating" stance, she smiled and glanced at both of you. "Then, I'm okay." While Isabella's gaze remained on Max, his was on you and he noticed as you let out a sigh in relief.
Shuffling closer to Max, Isabella hugged him just like she usually did and that's when Max could finally let out a sigh of relief. She turned to look at you, "can I go play?"
"Of course, sweetheart." You waited until she left the room to invite Max to sit next to you, which he obliged to immediately. His hand quickly found your thigh, an action that brought comfort to both of you. "We still need to be careful around her," you stated, and turned your head to look at him.
"Yeah, that's okay, we'll give her time," he agreed and then he asked a question that has been bothering him for a while. "Would you have ended our relationship if she wasn't okay with it?"
"I'm going to be very honest, I didn't even think of that as a possibility." The corner of his lip turned up in a half smile, "so you knew everything would be fine?"
You shook your head, "Deep down I knew that she was comfortable around you but I also didn't really want to think about leaving you if she wasn't. I wanted the best of both worlds."
Leaning closer to you, he muttered, "I would've done anything to convince Isabella." You happily smiled at that thought, now knowing that day wouldn't come. "Well now that she knows, it would be very hard for you to leave us."
Max pulled back, "who said I wanted to?" You shrugged, "I'm just putting the thought out there."
He leaned back against the mattress, and pulled you with him. "I want you and your daughter in my life, for every moment." He brought your hand up to place a light kiss, "knowing that, are you sure you won't get tired of me?" He asked you.
"Not at all," you said as you leaned over him to place a lingering sweet kiss against his lips. You both showed your love in various ways even though you didn't say the three words out loud. Whether it was through small acts you did together throughout the day, other long conversations, or something like this, where you subtly promised to be together forever.
——
Later that night, Isabella was still very excited that Max was staying over. As you promised earlier, she noticed that nothing drastically changed after knowing about your relationship with Max.
He was still undoubtedly kind to her, always agreeing to play with her even if that meant he had to purposely lose in the videogame over and over again just to see the biggest smile on her face.
Even though you and Max had decided not to show too much affection around your daughter until she got used to seeing you two together, there were still the occasional stolen kisses and touches.
Especially when you two prepared dinner together—that is, until Isabella chose to accompany you both. Max suggested that she take a seat on the countertop so that she could see everything well. As you carried on cooking, you observed that Max was often sidetracked and would frequently stop what he was doing to indulge in a conversation with Isabella.
The moments in front of you reminded you of a conversation you had with Max before you began dating. You had told him that your daughter would always be a top priority in your life, and if he didn't agree, you couldn't date him. You expected him to walk away, but he persuaded you that he wanted you both in his life.
You smiled, relieved that you believed him since you were seeing the truth of his words in front of you as he willingly spent time with your daughter.
Once you cleaned up after dinner, Isabella convinced Max to continue playing videogames. It was getting quite late into the night, but he couldn't exactly say no to her either, so they decided to play once more.
"No Maxy!" Isabella exclaimed with a laugh when he finally regained the upper hand and won the game, the last one of the night.
"C'mon, time for bed now." You watched the back and forth conversation between them, especially at how Isabella tried to pout to convince him for another game. However, Max wasn't convinced this time. "Didn't you say you wanted me to read you a bedtime story?"
"Yes, but I also want to play," Isabella confused herself, unable to choose one of the two options. "You can play tomorrow too," you suggested and she looked at him, "will you be here tomorrow?"
Once he nodded, she was satisfied. Isabella quickly helped clean up and rushed up the stairs with you and Max following behind.
Max watched as you helped Isabella complete her nighttime routine, and she even commented that after some time, she wouldn't need any help. "You're growing up so fast," you responded.
Soon enough Isabella was tucked into bed with the blanket up to her shoulders while Max read her a short story from one of her books. You let them enjoy that moment, and took that time to unwind from the day in your bedroom as well.
Max returned while you were in the middle of your skincare routine, "is she sleeping?" you asked. He stood behind you, wrapping his arms around your waist and rested his chin on your shoulder. "She's snoring away," he responded, earning a chuckle from you.
He watched you through the mirror patiently as you applied a few different products, raising his eyebrow in confusion when he didn't understand what it was. "What is that?" He couldn't help but ask. "A serum."
Your answer didn't dissipate his confusion, and you laughed once you saw his expression. "Let's go to bed," you suggested once you finished up.
The truth is, the idea of Max staying over was new to Isabella, but she had no idea that he has stayed over quite a few times. "I think I can finally sleep in as long as I want," Max commented once you two were settled in bed.
"Well now she knows," you pressed a kiss to his cheek before cuddling closer.
Every time Max had stayed the night, he would have to leave early in the morning to ensure that Isabella wouldn't see him. It wasn't a big deal because he was welcomed back a few hours later anyhow, but Max didn't get an opportunity to properly wake up next to you either.
This time, he was looking forward to waking up next to you, knowing that it would be the first morning out of many more to come.

Opening his eyes, Hongjoong let out a tired smile as he looked at your peacefully sleeping figure. He was glad that both of you had a good night's rest and the baby in the next room didn't wake you up. Caressing your cheek, he blushed as he remembered the previous night with you.
Getting up, he picked up his discarded sweatpants and quickly slipped them on before going over to the window. Opening up the blinds just a tiny bit to let in a little light, he looked back over when he heard you moan in your sleep.
"Hongjoong..." You whimpered unconsciously.
By the way you shifted inside the blankets, Hongjoong knew you were more than likely rubbing your thighs together. It might have been a little early, but if you needed him, how was he supposed to deny you especially when you called out so cutely for him.
You fluttered your eyes open when you felt kisses being pressed against your jaw that soon traveled to your neck, hips involuntarily bucking up when you felt your lover's hard on rub against your clit.
"Morning babygirl. Did you miss me that much already?" He teased you, a light chuckle emanating from his lips as he began inserting himself into you.

It was still the early hours of dawn yet Seonghwa was fully awake. His hand was tenderly caressing your hip as he continued to admire your body. Although he had done a lot of that the night before, it still wasn't enough for him. Every mark on your body that detailed the pregnancy you went through was absolutely beautiful for him.
Unable to bear it any longer, he slowly crawled his way underneath the blanket where he positioned himself right in between your thighs. He started off by peppering kisses along your stretch marks, his tongue occasionally poking out every now and then. When he finally reached your mound he didn't hesitate to start licking tenderly and slowly at your folds, trying not to abruptly wake you up.
You thought you were in a lucid dream until you opened your eyes and saw someone shuffling under the covers. Pulling some of the blanket to the side, your head rested back on the pillow as you let out a moan when you saw Seonghwa's head buried deep between your legs.
"Morning gorgeous." He greeted you as he smiled against your clit before giving it a suckle that made you want to squirm away from him, but his hands on your thighs prevented you from moving.
"Just stay down and get comfortable beautiful. I'm not coming out of here for a while."

"I don't wanna get up just yet." You let out a croaked whine as you nestled closer against your equally half tired half awake husband.
"We don't have to, it's still pretty early." He told you as the arm that was wrapped around you lightly tapped on the side of your hip.
You tried to wrap one leg over Yunho's but your face grimaced as you felt the dull sting of his thrusts from the night before. Noticing your reaction, Yunho chuckled.
"Did I accidentally go too rough on you? Did I break you yet again?" He cooed mockingly at you as he pinched your nose, which made you irritated.
"N-no! I'm fine actually. In fact I'm so fine that I could probably ride you with no issues at all." You proudly boasted.
"Oh yeah? Prove it then baby." He taunted you, not actually expecting you to follow through but you surprised him when you got up and pulled his shirt off you and climbed on top of him, albeit with a little difficulty but you did. Yunho watched you with a smirk as you began pumping him in your hand.
"Do you still have energy left to go for another round though?" You teased him as you gave him a tight squeeze.
"Trust me doll, I never run out of energy if it means fucking your tight pussy."

"What are you doing?" You sleepily asked when you awoke to find Yeosang staring right at you.
"Admiring you before I have to go." He answered with a hint of sadness in his eyes.
You both looked over at the clock, knowing that soon the house and its occupants would soon be bustling and it would be best if Yeosang snuck back into his room.
"I don't wanna leave. I wanna stay here with you." He huffed as he layed back down on the bed with you.
You swore he acted more like a child than his daughter did, confirmed by how now you tried to get him out of your bed, which he was very reluctant about.
"You'll see me later tonight anyways, it'll only be for a few hours." You reminded him as you helped him gather his clothes that had been scattered about on the floor.
"I'll miss you so much." He pouted at you.
You were about to roll your eyes but then you got an idea. Stopping him before he threw his shirt on, you sunk down to your knees and took hold back his cock which instantly got hard at your touch.
"Then let me leave you with something so you don't miss me too much.."
Yeosang shuddered when your lips kissed his head, your tongue dipping into his slit.
"And so you have something to look forward to tonight."

Head thrown back against the softness and the pillow as lewd moans spewed out of your mouth, your fingers were tangled in the back of San's hair as he continued to swallow and suck at your nipples, his hands pressing hard against your squishy skin so he'd be able to gulp down more of your milk.
"Sannie...please." You whimpered out, yet he made no answers nor did he move from where he was. Calling out to him once more and even tugging his hair harshly, you finally got a response from him.
"Hmm?" He hummed quietly yet went back to his previous task of breastfeeding from you.
"Stop being selfish, that milk is also for our daughter." You reminded him as you tried to move him from your chest, which resulted in him latching into your nipple with more intensity.
"You were mine before you were her mom, I think I deserve to get my fair share of enjoying your body as I want. Don't get me wrong I love our princess and I don't regret having her, but last night was the first time in a while that I finally get you all to myself and I'm going to take advantage of it."
Dipping his tongue back in between your breasts, San let out a soft chuckle as he kneaded your mounds.
"Besides you produce more than enough milk baby mama. Got your shirts getting wet patches from all the milk pouring out of your tits."

You were awoken when you felt Mingi, who was still nestled inside of you, slightly pull in and out of you. You weren't too fazed by this, you guys often tried cockwarming, especially if the night before you guys were being a little naughty. There was just something heartwarming about having him stay inside you after he fucked you sore.
"Still wanna go?" Mingi asked. Even though you had explicitly told him to fuck you awake, he still wanted to make sure you'd still be up for it.
You didn't even respond, you simply pushed yourself back onto him after he had pulled out of you. Getting the hint, Mingi helped you onto all fours, which automatically excited you. Soon he was pulling moan after moan out of your mouth as his hips slammed into you from behind, one hand reaching over to stimulate you further by rubbing your clit.
"You gotta be quiet love." He teased as his other hand came over to cup over your mouth, effectively muffling all the loud noises coming out of it.
"Our angel is sleeping in the other room and if she hears us, she'll wake up."
He purposefully made it harder for you as he jolted his hips up, further ramming himself in you.
"So let's try to not get caught."

"She's going to wake up any second now." Although you tried to reason with Wooyoung, you made absolutely no attempt to get him off you. Instead you simply melted into his kisses and caresses, still high from the blissful night you two shared just a few hours ago.
"No she won't. She's been sleeping a lot more recently." He assured you as he raked his teeth along your shoulder blades, threatening to leave marks plastered on you.
"Yes but- oh fine. But we have to be quick about it..just in case." You told him.
"Quick you say? Ok then."
You let out a squeak when Wooyoung flipped over and pulled you on top of him with no warning. At first you were confused when he started shifting you around, but after he began turning you, you understood what he was aiming for. You let him guide you so your ass was right on top of his face, your dripping pussy inches away from his mouth. Bending over, you brought your mouth over to his cock, licking his shaft which made him jitter under you.
"Fuck! Oh shit." Not wanting to let you get away with teasing, Wooyoung layed his tongue flat on your lips before curling it upwards so it could flick at your clit, eliciting a response from your body.
"Remember, we gotta be quick about it. So start sucking baby."

Jongho looked up amusedly, sleep still in his eyes, at your tantalizing figure that was now rutting itself against one of his thighs.
"I'm up." You simply stated while continuing to grind on him.
"I can see that very well my little vixen. And now I'm up." You both laughed quietly at his double sensed joke.
Effortlessly picking you up with his hands, Jongho settled you down on his cock, now making you grind your slick folds along his thick length that was hardening even more now.
"This horny this early love?" He raised an eyebrow at you yet never stopped moving you.
"Can't help it. You left me wanting more after last night." You shyly admitted.
"Oh? Is that so? You want more. I'll give you more."
Aligning himself on your entrance, Jongho and you simultaneously hissed, you from the stretch he gave you and he from the way your walls hugged around his shaft.
"Baby, hold onto the headboard." He instructed you and you promptly obeyed with no hesitation.
"Because I'm not going easy on you. I'm starting my morning off by fucking you dumb."

Dark Roast, No Sugar
Tumblr media
“Last night I woke the hell up. I realized I need you here, as desperate as that sounds, yeah.” - Jon Bellion
Masterlist
Chapter Nine-
Aelin showed up to the police department in a pair of leggings and an oversized shirt. She didn't even bother putting on the new-ish sneakers she owned, opting for the ones with holes because they didn't squeeze her feet. It wasn't the first impression she wanted to give, but you deserve a little forgiveness when making a whole-ass human.
Leaning over the dash of the car, she presses a friendly kiss to the side of Chaol's face. "Thanks for the ride, boys."
His cheeks redden, and Dorian leans as much of his body as he can into the front of the car, "No sugar for me?"
Aelin laughs and kisses his cheek good-naturedly. "Feel less left out now?"
"Much better," the corners of his happy smile dim, his blue eyes dart to the doors of the precinct. "Are you sure you don't want me to call you a lawyer, Aelin?"
Chaol nods his agreement beside him, his hands clenching the steering wheel despite the car being in park. "Do you want me to go inside with you?"
Aelin feels a bubble of warmth blossoming in her chest. Their worried faces and eagerness to help her- it was almost enough to warm an assassin's heart. "Don't worry. They just need me to clarify a few things in my statement. Nothing serious. Paperwork issues."
Dorian and Chaol had shown up right as she was walking out of the front door of The Stag. When they realized she was leaving and offered her a ride... Aelin couldn't say no. Not with how her feet were aching.
It took some more reassuring, but they finally agreed to let her leave their caring grasps.
Fenrys met her at the door with a smile, "Hey, Baby Mama. Looking beautiful."
Aelin is surprised to find she's genuinely happy to see him. She can't help the toothy grin he brings out in her. "I'm well. How are you this morning, Fen?"
Fenrys lights up at the nickname. "I bought us some donuts. We have a hard day of work ahead of us, and I figured we would deserve a treat in advance."
Donuts sounded phenomenal and vastly improved her outlook of the day.
He steers her through the PD, and several heads turn to stare as she passes. Aelin didn't particularly care. Whatever they thought they knew about her, they probably didn't.
When they finally reach Rowan's office, they find him slumped over a laptop at a desk piled high with neatly stacked papers. The room is minimalistic. Only necessary office items were visible—no personal effects, knickknacks, or pictures of any kind adorning the space.
Rowan himself is also in his usual state of neatness, minus the dirt she could see staining the underside of his nails. He must have been gardening this morning.
Aelin doesn't bother with greetings. She grabs a chair opposite him and sits down. The last few days, she'd been feeling more drained and quick to tire. At first, she attributed it to the baby getting larger and demanding more of her body's resources, but now Aelin started to think that she caught a bug galavanting through the night.
Fenrys set a blueberry donut and a cup of hot tea in front of her. Bless him. Aelin mumbles her thanks before stuffing her mouth.
Rowan shuts his laptop with a snap and replaces it with a yellow notepad. "Alright, Aelin. I need a name. Who do you think is doing this?"
"When is Aedion getting released?" She says around a mouthful of glazed blueberry.
Fenrys slumps into an office chair at a tinier desk in the corner of the room. "This afternoon."
"If all goes well at this meeting," Rowan tacks on the thinly veiled warning. "I need a name."
Aelin leans back in her seat and takes a deep breath. There was a strange heaviness in giving his name. As if speaking it would materialize him into existence in front of her. Her goal when she moved to Ornyth was to forget about him and push her old master as far from her mind as she physically could, but she supposed it was naive to think he wouldn't come looking for her.
This wasn't just for her, Aelin reminds herself. Aedion would benefit from this conversation.
"His name is Arobynn Hammel. He's thirty-five, red hair, grey eyes, and an utter asshole." Aelin lays the name of her childhood tormentor out on the table. A bad taste sours her mouth.
Rowan tosses the notepad to Fenrys, who relays what she said to the paper. He looks at her over his desk with an unreadable expression. "What is your relation to Mr. Hammel?"
"Why?" Aelin chuckles as if the stress is trying to escape her with each half-hearted chuckle. "Do you want to know if he's my baby daddy?"
"Yes," Rowan and Fenrys say simultaneously.
Aelin's smile falls, and she scowls at both of them. They didn't know better, but she still felt insulted.
"He isn't, but I suppose he probably would have liked to be. Make sure to underline that," she points at Fenry's pad of paper. "Arobynn raised me. I don't think he was legally a foster parent, but he is who I was given to in the shuffle after the occupation."
Rowan dips his chin. Green eyes focus on her intensely, as if he's trying to absorb and commit her every word to memory. "How old were you when they put you in his care?"
"Eight," Aelin breathes out, a sharp tingling of grief comes with that admission. "I lived with him from the time I was eight until I turned nineteen."
"Why do you suspect him of producing and distributing Synth?" Rowan asks the nail-in-the-coffin question, and Aelin has to bite back old instincts to lie and conceal this information. It makes her feel vulnerable to expose Arobynn.
Vulnerability isn't an emotion she handles well. After all, when you bare your neck to someone, it becomes within their power to cut their throat.
"I've seen where he makes it, and I oversaw some of his high-risk contracts and dealings with the distribution," Fenrys chokes beside her, but he smothers it with a cough. Even Rowan looks a little taken back, eyes narrowing.
"At what age did you start assisting with his-" he struggles to find the words. "-His business practices."
Aelin blinks, "Eight."
This time, neither of them covers their reactions. They both freeze in their seats, an air of disbelief hanging over them. Aelin feels a chill and tugs at the hem of her shirt, wishing the sleeves were longer.
"What?" Rowan is the first to break the tension.
"I was displaced in the occupation," Aelin begins the watered-down version of her sob story. "I was carted into Adarlan and placed in the care of Arobynn Hammel. Within a couple of months, he was already using me as a mule to get orders across Rifthold. He trained me in various skills to carry out larger jobs, along with a few other children."
"There were others?" Rowan looks saddened by that tidbit.
Mentally Aelin wants to laugh.
Of course, he would be upset at the prospect of other good children suffering from such a fate.`Ones who had the potential he thought she lacked.
If only he knew what bastards they all grew up to be, and she by far was not the worst of them.
Fenrys' eyes were gleaming with more pity than Aelin was comfortable with because, unlike Rowan, she knew it was directed towards her. Gratefully he didn't dig too deeply. Instead, Fenrys picked up the next question. "Can you name the others?"
Aelin bites her lip, leg fidgeting under the table. "Tern Fletcher, Archer Flynn, Adam Mulligan, Lysandra Ennar-" she swallows past the lump in her throat. "Samuel Cortland and myself."
"Lysandra was involved?" Rowan leans back in his chair and crosses his arms. He hasn't looked away, barely blinked, since the questioning began. Aelin feels naked as his eyes seemed to be raking in her every movement.
"Not-" she tries to think of how to phrase it in a way that respects her friend's privacy. "She wasn't involved in the same capacity I was."
"Are the others you know still working with Hammel?" Rowan asks, and Aelin gladly lets them move the conversation away from Lys. She wasn't comfortable digging into her friend's wounds when she wasn't around.
"I suspect Mulligan, Flynn, and Fletcher. They were extremely loyal, and as of the last time I saw them, very active in the business." Aelin fondly remembers the beat down she laid on Archer before their parting words. He sold them out, and she hopes for his sake that they never run into each other again.
Fenrys looks up, "What about Samuel?"
"What?" Aelin flinches, the question taking her back.
"Samuel Cortland," Rowan reiterates. "You named him as one of the employees in Hammel's custody but implied he's no longer active in the business. Where is he then?" He leans forward, and Aelin wishes she could shrink back. "Would he be willing to speak with us?"
"Children." Her voice comes out as gruffer than she intends. "We were kids. Not employees. It wasn't a mutual agreement. None of us could consent to what became of us."
Aelin is surprised by the emotion that makes itself known. She swallows back the tears that want to fall and stuffs her trembling hands under her thighs. The implication any of them had a choice in serving Arobynn was disturbing and utterly wrong.
The taste of skin between her teeth, blood crusting under her nails, and being surrounded in pitch-black darkness consume her. Aelin suddenly feels more ill than she had this morning.
"Of course, Aelin." Fenrys placates. "That's understood. We just need to know where Samuel is. He could be very useful to the investigation."
"Dead," Aelin throws the word out like a dying fish on the table. "He died."
It hurt to say that. Tears burned in the corners of her eyes. Sam dying was worse than talking about Arobynn. A million times worse.
Aelin tries to swallow the lead rock in her throat. Arobynn didn't deserve to be known. His legacy was of blood, abuse, and control. It belonged in the sewer alongside his corpse.
Sam, on the other hand, deserved to be known. He abandoned by the system, forgotten by his family, and still chose kindness above all else. Sam's story deserved to be told, and it killed Aelin that it hurt her so much to share it.
"How did he die?" Fenrys prods delicately.
"What?" Aelin asks dumbly, heart accelerating in her chest.
"How did Samuel die? Any details you can give are beneficial. and you agreed to cooperate." Rowan reminds her sternly.
Mala save her, she couldn't go into detail about how she found him. She couldn't. Aelin feels blood rushing up to her head, and the room seems to sway.
"Sam. He liked to be called Sam-" Is all Aelin manages to choke out. "Excuse me."
Pushing herself from the desk, she shakily bolts for the office door. Their complaints are silenced as the glass shuts behind her. Outside, Aelin can feel the trembling beginning in her hands and spreading up her arms.
Sweat beads on her forehead in the oppressive heat of the building, but when she rubs her face, it feels damp and cold to the touch.
Aelin frantically strides down the hall, eyes darting around madly for a bathroom door. Nausea was creeping up her throat, and she really didn't want to throw up in someone's trashcan. She knew she was moving quickly, that someone might see her and become alarmed, but anxiety made everything feel like it was moving in slow motion.
A dainty hand grips her elbow and tugs in gently. "Follow me, dear. I can help you."
Aelin's head is swimming, and she allows the calming voice to steer her back in the other direction. When the person pushes open the bathroom door and Aelin sees the navy blue stalls, she rips her arm away and falls to her knees before the porcelain bowl.
Long, slender fingers pull her hair back from her face and rub her shoulders as Aelin loses her breakfast. "You are okay," the voice consoles—a hand massages up her spine and soothes the aches there.
Aelin's whole body is shuddering now. Her stomach rolls over itself, and the muscles of her diaphragm are quaking with exertion. She doubts she could get to her feet if she tried. A strand of drool hangs from her lips, and Aelin would be humiliated if her head wasn't still reeling.
Gouged eyes. Bent fingers. Blood on her lips.
A wad of paper towels appears and dabs at her cheeks, which Aelin hadn't even realized were wet with tears. She failed to notice that her body was shuddering under the intensity of the sobs coming from her. The woman continues to pat her cheeks and nose. Then to her mortification, it swipes at the spit hanging from her mouth.
Mala end me now, she mentally pleads.
Aelin looks up to find a woman with raven hair and onyx eyes looking at her sympathetically. "I'm sorry, dear. I don't mean to overstep. I've been where you are before. Please don't be embarrassed."
Opening her mouth, Aelin makes to apologize, but another crackling sob breaks from her chest instead.
She's just tired. Tired of being sad. Tired of feeling sick. Tired of being unable to even say his name without breaking down.
Arms wrap around Aelin's shoulders and tug her into an embrace. She allows her face to burrow into the woman's blazer as the grief racks through her body.
"Oh, sweety. It's going to be alright. I promise whatever is going on right now will work out." Fingers rake through Aelin's hair soothingly. It turns her to jello in the woman's arms. Her presence was just so motherly in a way that Aelin sorely misses.
She holds Aelin tight until she's calm enough to hold a plastic cup of water without dropping it. The woman helps her stand and wipes the mascara smudges off her cheeks with a damp towel. "There you go," she tosses the towel in the trash when she deems Aelin presentable. "Brand new, again."
"Thank you," Aelin breathes out at last. "I don't even know what to say."
"Say nothing," the woman waves her hand. "I've been pregnant before. Hormones. Nausea. It isn't an easy ride, dear. Besides, no one comes to a police station for a good reason." The woman pulls a stick of gum from a purse sitting on the sink and offers it to her. Aelin accepts it gratefully.
"Has anyone told you that stress isn't good for you?" Her kind eyes bore into Aelin worriedly. "You look very pale."
"I've been told. Many times." Aelin rubs her forehead, an ache already forming there. "I just don't have much of a choice."
"What's your name? I'm Maeve." She smiles and extends a hand for Aelin to shake.
Aelin takes the hand, happy that they aren't trembling so badly. "Aelin."
"Do you have any name ideas for the baby?" Maeve's eyes glance down towards the slight swell of her belly a little wistfully.
Names? Aelin periodically forgot that the human growing inside of her would pop into the world and require such a thing. It was a far-off event where she had plenty of time to accommodate for things in her head. In reality, she was halfway through her fourth month.
Time was ticking.
"No. I don't have any ideas yet." Aelin admits.
Maeve pats Aelin's shoulder kindly. "That's just fine. Ignore my curiosity. You have plenty of time if-" she emphasizes, "you take better care of yourself."
There is a knock on the door. "Aelin, are you alright?"
Rowan.
"Yes. I'll be back in a minute," Aelin says through the door.
She waits until his footsteps echo back down the hallway before she makes towards the exit. Eager to leave the bathroom and the memories of her awkward breakdown with it. "Thanks again. Really. I appreciate it."
Aelin truly meant it despite the utter humiliation she felt.
"Let me walk you back to Rowan's office?" Maeve asked. "It's easy to get turned around in this building."
They walked in a comfortable silence back to the office. Maeve's demeanor is so tranquil it surprises Aelin when the demure woman pushes the door open without knocking. "I have a delivery for you boys."
"Chief?" Rowan stands up, confused.
What? Aelin blinks and turns back to the woman, noting the black and whites and the metal badge on the breast of her blazer. The same blazer Aelin had just cried on.
Blood rushed to her face, and her brain curdles in her skull. Of course, it was the law of Orynth whose arms she just broke down in. Adarlan's Assassin reduced to a ball of hormones clinging to the chief detective of Terrasen like a baby clinging to its mother.
"Has she caused trouble?" Rowan's eyes glint with steel.
If you've done anything to degrade me to my boss, the deal is off.
"Not at all. We ran into each other in the bathroom and had a lovely chat," Maeve brushes an invisible piece of dust from Aelin's shoulder. "I will let the three of you get back to business. You are in excellent company."
Aelin's lip quirks. Just the opposite. She loves me. Congratulations, you are already reaping the benefits of my presence.
"Oh, and Fenrys?" Aelin looks at Fenrys, who is actively ignoring them. "The reports you promised are late. Have them to my desk by the end of the day, please."
"Will do, Chief." Fenrys' reply is dry and lacks his usual pep.
Aelin notes the worried glance Rowan throws him, but he swiftly covers it with an expressionless mask. "I will make sure he gets it done."
What was that? Aelin tries to pry an answer from Rowan, but he avoids her look.
When Maeve leaves, the tension eases from the men's shoulders.
"You are trouble," Rowan tosses at her without venom.
Aelin picks up the cup of tea she left at his desk, glad it's still warm. "Yes, but only the best kind."
"We haven't laid out a single plan for weaseling out Arobynn," Fenrys makes an irritated face at them. "If either of you could focus for ten minutes, we can do the rest of the questioning later, but we need to start throwing out ideas."
"Did Rowan piss in your tea in the last ten minutes I was gone?" Aelin shoots back, not appreciating his sudden attitude.
"Thirty," Rowan says. "You were gone for thirty minutes. That's why I came looking for you. Also, ruining beverages is your thing, not mine."
Damn, had she been gone that long? A glance at the clock confirms he was correct.
When she turns back to Rowan, there is almost something like worry in his eyes? That couldn't be right, Aelin rubs that aching side of her head again. She needed to stop reading so deeply into things.
"We can continue with questioning later," Rowan announces. "Fenrys is correct in saying we need to start making plans. You've given us enough to work with for now."
They sat back in their chairs, pulled out more notepads, red pens, and sticky notes. Together, Aelin helped them form a list of potential places Arobynn would be laying low. Hotels, rental homes, and vacant manors. He had a taste for luxury Aelin knew he wouldn't sacrifice for anonymity.
Test results were still running on the Synth. Technicians had let them know it showed highly abnormal properties compared to average street drugs, and they promised to send them an extensive report when they were through.
Rowan had hushed any potential news stories about The Stag shooting. He didn't want anyone who may know Celaena to catch wind and start snooping around. Aelin was his best lead, which afforded her a certain level of discretion he acknowledged.
They didn't know about the Bane patrolling her block at night, keeping their eyes on the streets for unusual activity.
The clock ticked, and the light beaming through the winders grew warmer as the afternoon trickled away. It was nearly five o'clock when Rowan declared then done for the day, and Aelin was utterly exhausted.
"Come on," Fenrys offered her a hand to help her stand. "I can drive you by the prison. Aedion should be getting checked out as we speak."
"Thank you," Aelin accepts the help. Her feet ached, and she felt entirely drained. It was good Fenrys was offering a ride, or she'd have to call Dorian to come and get her.
Together, the three of them made their way to the parking lot. Conversation between them was sparse but not unpleasant. They'd fallen into a rhythm at some point while working together. It helped break up some of the awkwardness between her and Rowan.
Aelin hustled a little bit when she spotted Fenry's luxury car. She wanted to claim the front seat before Rowan did. Her gut couldn't handle the stress of riding the back.
Her fingers barely grazed the polished handle when Fenrys started yelling.
Arms wrapped around her waist, and Aelin's face throbbed as it found itself slammed into the asphalt. A loud explosion rattled her ears, and chunks of debris went flying through the air. A thick foggy smoke started filling the air, and she immediately started choking on it.
A dense weight lifts off her back, and hands grab her shoulders, rolling her body to face the clouded sky instead of the ground. Rowan is in her personal space immediately. He's speaking to her, but no sound is penetrating the ringing in her ears.
His hands are running along her arms, the side of her face, checking for injury. Aelin tries to ask him if he's alright, but he doesn't seem able to hear her either.
Suddenly, Fenrys is there, and he's grabbing them both by the arms. They are moving away at a sprint. Fenrys is yelling, but the smoke is stinging her eyes, and even seeing is becoming hard.
There is another explosion, and Aelin can feel the tremors beneath the soles of her shoes as the three of them hit the ground once more.
People are pouring out of the precinct. Aelin spies Cheif Maeve at the front of them, ordering people out of the building. Red and blue lights reflect off the smoke, and she knows that ambulances must be on their way.
Rowan is lying beside her. She hadn't noticed the rips in the back of his suit jacket at first, but there were long gouges in the material, and smoke wafted off a couple of scorch marks. The fact he'd thrown himself over her body and shielded her from the explosion was only starting to register when something warm squeezed her hand.
Are you okay? Green eyes were scouring her body for wounds.
I'm fine, Aelin assures him. She's more concerned about the spots on the back of his suit growing wet as he bled.
"Someone blew up my car," Fenrys is gaping at the spot where his vintage ride used to be. All that remained was a roughed-up frame that was lit ablaze like a campfire.
"Gods," Aelin breathed out, the ringing in her ears dying down. "I almost died."
Rowan hadn't let go of her hand and made no move to do so as his eyes fixed on the burning car. "That was meant for us."
He didn't have to elaborate for Aelin to understand. Whoever had placed the bomb hadn't been targeting her, but Rowan and Fenrys. They arrived and left work together. The bomb wasn't there when they got to the precinct this morning, so someone must have placed it while they were inside.
"What have we gotten ourselves into?" Fenrys runs a dirty hand through his hair.
Sirens wailed as paramedics filed into the parking lot. Other detectives and officers were starting to approach them. Firefighters approached the car with extinguishers and began to tame the burning fire.
Aelin didn't have an answer. Just the sinking feeling that the game they'd entered into had more players than she'd thought.

#5 and SessKag 😬
HELL YEAH SESSKAG. Also hello best friend 🥲 you’ll be seeing this when you wake up so good morning 🥲
This one ended up a wee bit longer than the others lol
“Home stopped being a place when you entered my life”
#5 on the fluff prompt list
She’d met him at a party.
A Christmas party.
He stood stiff and awkward in the corner, a head and shoulders taller than everyone else, his crisp, fitted suit clashing with the silly holiday sweaters the rest of them wore.
“That’s my brother,” Inuyasha, her best friend and brother-in-law, whispered to her as he passed her a cup of punch, “we just reunited and the family aint too happy about it.” and she understood.
She made her way over, determined to bring him into the fold, or at least make him feel more at ease and welcome.
“Hello,” she greeted, his golden eyes slanting her way. “I’m Kagome, Kikyo’s sister. You know, Inuyasha’s wife?”
“Hn.” He responded with a nod in her direction. “Sesshomaru.”
“It’s so nice to meet you! Can I get you a drink?”
She watched his nose twitch discreetly as he scented the drink in her hand, and then his lip curled up just slightly in disgust.
“Oh, not one of these.” She giggled in response, “I know where they keep the key to the liquor cabinet.”
He relaxed just the slightest iota, and she practically beamed.
“Whisky on the rocks.”
“Coming right up!”
He sipped his drink slowly as she filled him in on every name, occupation and marital status.
Aside from Kikyo and Inuyasha, they had Koga, the bachelor bartender, Sango and Miroku, the married couple who owned a sweet shop, and..
“Me, and I’m a nurse.”
“No significant other?”
His voice, deep and rich, made the hair stand up on her arms in a pleasant way, but she resolutely ignored it.
“Nope! It’s just me.”
“Hn.”
He said little else, but she didn’t get the impression that he was annoyed, so she stayed near him as the party progressed.
“Bye everyone!” She called from the door when it was time to go. “It was so good to finally meet you Sesshomaru, I hope you’ll be around more often!”
He gave her a nod and a little smile, and she went home for a peaceful night’s sleep.
——
He was there for their next group dinner. Inuyasha warned them in hushed tones before he arrived that he may be in a foul mood.
“Things with the family have gotten worse. He barely talks so it’s hard to know what’s happened. I know they don’t like that he’s reconciled with me after they tried to completely shut me and my mom out for not being yokai, but I think there’s more he hasn’t told me. Just don’t be surprised if he’s moody this time.”
“As opposed to how warm and conversational he was at the Christmas party?” Koga quipped, laughing with Miroku and igniting Kagome’s fe mper.
“Well I thought he was nice!” she cut in, blushing when several sets of stunned eyes turned on her at once. “He was!”
“Yeah we saw you two getting cozy in the corner all night.” Miroku said, waggling his brow suggestively.
“We weren’t ‘getting cozy’ you insufferable letch. He looked lonely and uncomfortable so I talked to him. That’s all. And he was nice.” She shrugged, and then the conversation died as Sesshomaru himself swept in.
He took the only seat open, the one next to her, and Kagome felt her heart twist as he simply sat and covered his face with his hands, ignoring everyone else as they chatted and cut up.
Enjoying time with her friends felt hollow with such a wounded soul sitting next to her, but she knew so little about Sesshomaru she worried she might cross some unnamed boundary.
She took a large gulp of her drink and laid her hand gently on his shoulder.
“Sesshomaru… are you alright?” She asked quietly, speaking soft enough to avoid getting the attention of her friends but loud enough that he would hear. After a long moment where she was sure he wouldn’t respond, he pulled his hands away from his face and slowly reached into his pocket. He pulled out his cellphone and tapped the screen once, lighting up a photo of a cute, smiling little human girl with melting brown eyes.
She looked between him and the phone screen, unsure what he was trying to communicate, but certain it was connected to the cause of his dark mood.
“This is Rin.” He clarified, voice pitched low and for her ears only.
“She’s adorable.”
“Hn. She is my daughter.” He met her eyes, and the gold of his glowed firm and defensive.
Suddenly, everything made a lot of shocking sense.
“They don’t like that you’ve adopted a human, do they? Your family?”
“No. They do not.”
Pulling her purse off the back of her chair, Kagome retrieved her own phone. She scrolled through her pictures for just a moment, until she found just the one she was looking for: a grinning little Fox boy holding up a scribbly crayon drawing.
She tilted her screen over, and Sesshomaru leaned nearer to see.
“My son.” She said simply, and though his reaction was so subtle no one sitting any farther away from him than her would notice, Kagome thought she’d seen him sag in relief.
“We should get them together for a play date.” She suggested, and they exchanged numbers with plans to do just that.
————-
Rin and Shippo got along swimmingly, and, surprisingly, so did she and Sesshomaru. He’d grown comfortable enough with her that their conversation consisted of more than just her babbling at him and hoping he was listening. They shared their adoption stories, how they’d found their children and came to be their parents, the challenges that came with adopting children outside your species, he opened up about the backlash he’d faced from his family when he first brought Rin home, backlash he’d expected but hoped against hope he was wrong about.
“Once she warmed my heart and showed me the folly of clinging to the prejudices I’d been raised with, I reached out to Inuyasha in hopes of establishing a relationship with my only sibling. I’d never even met him before, as he and his mother were never allowed around the family before father died. Afterward, everyone acted as if neither ever existed. Likewise, Rin will never meet the rest of her relatives.”
Kagome watched the two children chase each other as they squealed with laughter. Uncomplicated fun between a yokai child and a human child. Completely different species, but alike enough to play.
“If she ever needs a grandmother, I’m certain my mama would take her right in. She’s loved getting to spoil Shippo.”
He smiled, small but true, and she went a little starry eyed at the beauty of it.
“Hn. I will keep it in mind.”
————
Play dates evolved into real dates, and though her friends teased them, they took it in stride. Quiet and controlled in public, Sesshomaru was soft and demonstrative with her in private. She’d never felt so secure in a relationship before, and the firm but nurturing hand he had with both children made them all feel safe.
They spent more time all together than apart, and soon life felt empty if they weren’t all together.
Sesshomaru occasionally came over with a dark cloud over his head after a particularly nasty clash with family, but she’d simply run her fingers through his hair until the knots of tension were soothed. He was a strong, yokai influence for Shippo to learn from; she was a tender human mother for Rin to thrive from, and when Sesshomaru asked if they could join their families together permanently, no question in her life had ever had an easier answer.
And no answer had ever had such drastic consequences.
News got out and around fast, and one night, less than a week after their joyous engagement, Sesshomaru and Rin showed up at her door with a suitcase each, and dour faces.
“We need a place to stay…. A place to live.”
“Oh my gods, come in both of you.”
They spoke nothing of it at first.
Kagome kept busy feeding the children, getting them bathed, and tucking them in together to giggle h see their covers before falling asleep.
As soon as their door was firmly shut, she sat at the table across from Sesshomaru and laced her fingers through his.
“I have been disowned and disinherited.”
Unsure what to say, Kagome simply squeezed his hand.
“They tolerated the fact that I’d adopted a human daughter, but they would not stand for me falling into my father’s footsteps and marrying a human woman. My choices were my standing in the family, or you.”
Tears filled her eyes as him being here could only mean one thing: he’d chosen her.
“Oh Sesshomaru. I’m so sorry.”
“As the house I resided in was family property I was no longer allowed to stay, and I was fired from my father’s company and stripped of all my rights to any part of it. I’m afraid I come here with nothing to offer you now.”
She stood and rushed around the table and into his arms, hunkering down into his strength, hopefully lending her own.
“Stop that. I don’t want anything but you and Rin. That’s all I need. I’m just so sorry you had to lose your home because of me.”
He rested his chin atop her head and let her scent calm him.
“My home.” He mused, looking around the tiny apartment he’d hoped to move her out of soon when they were able to merge their lives into one. It would be cramped with all four of them there full time, but it was already chock full of their memories. They would figure it out.
“My home stopped being a place when you entered my life, Kagome.”
She wept and he held her, one of the only treasures he had left in the world, while the other two slept soundly and happily in their bed.

I'm not sure if requests are open or not but can you possibly write hc's for milo gordie leon and piers about having a s/o who suffers from epilepsy maybe include their reaction to the first seizure they see, and things like how they handle when s/o starts to seize/show warning signs,
I only do 3 characters at a post so I am going to do Leon, Piers, and Milo since I have Pokemon Shield
(and mama Melany)
Also, I’m speaking and writing this from my perspective of helping my aunt who has seizures regularly and will be answering in what I do and other things that I’ve looked up or found that help, please let me know if I can make it better, thank you! <3 Be safe
Leon
Even though he is super directionally challenged, he is so very perceptive. He will be the first to notice when you are about to have a seizure.
The distant look in your eyes and the nonverbal responses when he asks if you are okay are always signs you’re about to go into one.
He’s by your side in an instant, holding the back of your head up steady while rubbing your arm.
“Hey, it’s okay Y/N… you’re okay.” He repeats this all through out it, steady and comforting.
When you blink back after a few moments, eyes bleary but answer softly back to him, he knows you’re okay and out of it.
Will immediately stop what he’s doing, be it in the middle of an interview or sees you go down in the stands, he is next to you to help you through it
Wont hesitate to absolutely eradicate any disrespectfully words or jokes towards you about your seizures
When you first went into one, he had not expected it.
The two of you were out having lunch together after Leon had invited you out for a date to get to know each other more closely. He had been persistent, always engaging you in small talk when you were at work at one of the local shoppes in Wyndon. Would offer to help in carrying heavier things to help you out, and to make your work load lighter.
You had been perfectly fine, sitting across from him eating lunch at a local restaurant that you favored, when you seemed to be staring off into the distance as he was talking.
When Leon saw your Gothita get destressed and practically climbed up on you, he knew something was wrong.
He was scared, and that was putting it lightly.
With Gothita surrounding you in her psychic powers she steadied your body and instructed Leon through her telepathy to hold your head straight to where you wouldn’t choke.
He frantically rubbed your arms, while looking for your distant eyes to come back to the cheery e/c he found so attractive.
When you started to move slowly on your own your eyes peered up at him, the distant look fading quickly.
“Mmm…? Leon?” You asked softly, trying to attempt to remember where you were and what happened.
“Y/N!” He replied a smile forming on his face, full of relief. “You’re okay, my God I was so worried, are you ok?”
“Mmmhmm… thanks to you and Gracey.” You replied with a soft smile, giving your pokemon a thankful expression, to which she cried in happiness as a reply.
“Let’s get you to the hospital, to at least get a look at you. Then I’ll make sure you get home okay.” Leon said as he helped you up with his strong arms, letting your body lean against him. “I never knew you had to deal with these. You’re so much stronger than I could ever be, Y/N.”
Your heart thudded in your chest, your stomach knotting up in that similar way it did when you would see him visit your work on his days off from the league. Most people would be so scared and standoffish, more afraid of you than anything. See you as someone that needed to be fixed, someone that was fragile, and needed to be looked after like a child.
But Leon? He shown genuine kindness, he didn’t make you out to be this weak person who had epileptic seizures. He treated you with respect. As an equal.
You were strong, something that you did not hear often in your life.
You gave a small laugh, and peered up at him, your e/c eyes shining against the streetlights. “Is it too late to ask you for a second date?”
Leon’s cheeks uncharacteristically burned a deeper red and low chuckle came from his throat. “Not at all.”
Piers
There’s not many times he’s serious, but when it comes to you, he is stone cold serious.
Will constantly ask you if you’re okay if you seem more nervous or shakier than usual.
Always holds your hand when you’re feeling more shaky, will go into any quieter space to get you to a safer environment just in case
Even though his shows can be flashy and loud, he really prefers that you stay home or listen to CD’s of the shows of his that are flashier and with more lights. He’s talked to his producers about incorporating more epilepsy friendly aspects into his shows and videos so that more people can enjoy it safely.
On the times that you do watch him, he makes sure that the place is better lit, and no strobing lights.
Will rub the top of your head softly when you go into one, and holds you to where you wont hurt yourself during it.
He knew you had them, but you said that it was less common these days. So he thought that it would most likely be a while before you had one.
The first time you had a seizure in front of him, he was terrified and confused on what to do.
You were sitting beside him, listening to him strum on his guitar as try to work out the sound to his new song.
Your Kirlia sat beside you, listening too.
When he looked up from the strings and papers he had scattered around him, rewriting certain parts he paled.
Your arms were shaking as you began to fall backwards rather quickly. Luckily your Kirlia predicted this and carefully grabbed your shoulders and placed you on your side.
Kirlia’s eyes rose to Piers and she instructed him to gently rub at your arms as she used her abilities to work on the overfiring electrical impulses your brain was having.
Piers scanned your body frantically, your twitching limbs and far off stare causing his heart to race in nervousness. He didn’t know what to do, but hoped that what he was doing helped in some way.
Your Kirlia called softly as your twitching began to stop and your eyes regained their soft e/c hue. You hummed a little as you blinked back the glaze over your eyes.
“Y/N, hey… are you with me?” Piers asked, eyebrows knitted together, refusing to leave your side.
You gave him a confused stare and nodded slowly. “Yes…what…?”
Your Kirlia touched your forehead and you understood.
“Thank you… for helping me, Piers.” You patted your Kirlia’s hand greatfully. “And you too Meena, you did amazing.”
From then on Piers was sure to be more observant and learn about how to be better prepared for the next attack. The zigzagoon brigade are always alert and ready to go into pillow mode to help you not hit your head or hurt yourself.
Milo
The absolute best at making sure that you are taking you meds and taking care of yourself
Always tries to make sure that you have enough time to get enough sleep and goes to bed at the same time as you to help make it easier
He’s used to dealing and helping new gym challengers that have anxiety problems, so he knows how to relax you and help manage your stress
Being as strong as he is, it’s nothing for him to grab you when your legs give out when you go into one, making sure that you are laid down on your side safely
His big hands will make soothing touches and coax you through it, making sure everyone around you is quiet so you’re not overwhelmed with voices around you
If you ever feel bad about having them, he is so quick to reassure you that it is never a problem and he loves you so much
The first time you went into one
You were battling him as your first gym battle, with your Espeon battling against his Glossifleur.
You seemed so strong, easily ordering move after move from your companion, but that changed when you started to wobble on your feet, your Espeon immediately ran to your side to catch you from hitting your head and braced your body against her own and let you fall at a slower rate to the ground safely.
Milo gave a wave to the stadium, with a shout of “Everyone stop!” and made his way over to you. The stadium went into a quick and silent hush. The rotom camera, now focused on you.
Your body jerked involuntarily, your gaze far off and unfocused.
Your partner pokemon gave a cry and rubbed against your body while Milo held your head to where it would be easier for you to breath.
“Hey, Y/N… it’s okay lass. You’re okay.” He said softly, his hat blocking out the harsh sun above you. He gave your cheek a few soft pats, his green eyes searching your face.
It took about a few moments for your hands to stop seizing and jerking. When they did you let out a steady breath. You blinked slowly and gave a low hum as your eyes refocused and fell upon the grass type gym leader above you.
“There you are, are you hurt?” Milo asked you, his voice lower but understandable for your comfort.
You swallowed, and went to slowly sit up, the sun from above now shining painfully on you. You blinked your eyes shut but nodded and turned to him.
“Yeah… just...” you began and suddenly noticed where you were and felt the anxiety well up inside of you.
“Would it be possible to…stop our battle for today? Please?” you finished and picked at a part of your nails, cheeks flushed.
“I’m sorry but I think I need to lay down for a while, I’m just wiped after…” you tried to explain yourself, your Espeon chittered next to you, rubbing against you softly.
Milo held up a hand with a genuine and kind smile. “Say no more, Y/N. Let’s get you to the nurse on call to get a look at you. Make sure you’re okay.” He rose to hit feet and held a hand out to you. “Can you stand?”
You gave a nod and stood up slowly, but wobbled a little, your legs still unsteady.
Milo scooped you up into his arms effortlessly. “Just rest, I’ll get you there safe and sound.”
And he did,

The Unexpected Reward - Chapter 16
Summary:  Natsu and Lucy go on a job together, but what they bring home is something neither anticipated. Forced to make a life changing decision, they have to adapt quickly, but that's never easy, especially given the circumstances. As they work together on their toughest adventure yet, they find themselves drawn to one another, in ways they never realised. Nalu/cute/fluff
Rated M for a reason!
"Hey, old lady! Open up!" The slayer bellowed through the tiny keyhole, beating the same spot on the large, ornate door repeatedly with his fist. "I know you're in there; I can smell you!"
"Go away, boy! I don't like visitors!" The occupant shouted from the other side, infuriating the dragon further.
He hammered his fist harder, determined to get some answers. There was no way he was turning back, not after running all this way. He'd kick the door in if he had to.
Haru, who was tucked into his arms, didn't seem to mind the small detour, or the loud clattering and yelling. He was perfectly content playing with anything he could get his hands on, namely Natsu's clothing. The occasional "Mama" or "Dada" would escape him but he mostly babbled nonsense to himself.
"At least you're having a good time. Daddy's starting to lose his patience." Natsu muttered the last bit under his breath, grinning at the child through his chagrin. He turned back to the door, "Look, I won't take up much of your time, I just need your advice. It's about Lucy…"
The door swung open with a rush and a thud, crashing into the very tree it was nailed to, causing leaves to fall from their branches. The noise had stunned Natsu into silence as he stared at the very person he'd come to see—Porlyusica. Dressed in her usual attire, she stepped out onto the porch and glowered at the young man, broom in hand, ready to chase him away.
Opening her mouth to scold him for the disruption, she caught sight of the little one he was carrying and closed it again, her hard lines softening. Instead of beating the slayer with her broom, which was the original plan, she held something out in her palm, expecting him to take it.
Eyeing it curiously, he took it from her hand and held it to his face, inspecting it further. It was a small, glass vile with a cork stopper lid, that contained a strange yellow liquid, its consistency was thick and it reminded Natsu, somewhat, of mashed up baby food—the kind Haru loved to eat.
"It's called morning sickness. Give her a few drops of that potion and it should quell its severity." She explained.
The boy accepted her potion and put it into his pocket for safe keeping, "Thanks! Lucy'll be glad of that. Only, it's not just her sickness that I'm-"
"I know why you're here. I could tell when I saw you all the other day, I'm just surprised it's taken you both this long to come knocking. So, where is she?" Porlyusica asked, looking behind Natsu for the blonde.
"At home actually. She… kinda doesn't know I'm here… but, I can't watch her suffer like that, I need to know what to do." Natsu pleaded, hoping the healer would help him.
She sighed, unable to refuse his request, "Has it been confirmed?"
"Not really… How do you do that?" Natsu asked, his knowledge on such things were limited.
"Get Lucy to test it, she'll understand. Then once it's confirmed, come back to me, I'll need to run some checks." She said, turning to go back inside.
"Checks? What checks?" There went his plan! Lucy would have to see her after all.
"You want a healthy child, don't you?" She said, as if it were obvious.
"U-Uh…"
The fire mage didn't get a chance to think too much into that before the door was slammed shut in his face, making him along with the baby jump.
The wind picked up a little as he turned to walk away, looking down at Haru, who was starting to snuggle down against his chest. Natsu smiled again at him, trying to mask his annoyance with the old woman's abruptness, "Sorry for making you wait, Haru, I bet you're super bored?"
"Dada…" The child yawned cutely on cue, making Natsu chuckle.
"Yeah, Dada's gonna take you home." He reiterated, turning to make tracks for home.
Natsu all but crashed through the front door, nearly breaking it off its hinges. "Luce? Lucy? Are ya home?" He yelled out into the house. Out of breath and panting, having just ran all the way back.
"Lucy?" He called out again, but with no answer still, he wondered where she could be, "Hmm… Let's go find Mama; she's around here somewhere."
"Mama…" The infant muttered, before going back to sucking on the ends of Natsu's scarf.
Once reaching the top of the stairs, he heard what he suspected might be the reason for Lucy's silence. A noise that'd become all too common over the last few days. Pushing the bathroom door open, he stood in the doorway, smiling sadly at the girl hunched over the toilet bowl once again. He felt nothing but empathy for her, the feeling of being overwhelmingly sick wasn't exactly foreign to him either, so he understood her pain.
The young man crouched down behind the blonde, cringing as she wretched her guts up. "It's alright, Luce. I'm here with you now." He spoke quietly, as not to alarm her of his presence. Placing Haru down next to him, he reached a hand out to her shoulder, the warm touch spreading over her clammy skin.
With one last cough and spit into the bowl, Lucy leaned back, breathing heavily while her watery eyes streamed down her face. She sniffled and blew her nose with a tissue, wiping her mouth at the same time. She took in a large breath and shifted to the man behind her, clutching hold of his jacket while she cried into his chest.
Enveloping her with his arms and cradling her head to him, he spoke tenderly to her, "Has it eased off now?"
"I-I don't know." Her voice was hoarse; her throat sore, "Please don't leave me again."
That struck a chord with Natsu. Never had he heard Lucy ask for him, not like that. She was always way too proud and independent, but this had really taken it's toll on her, not just physically but mentally also, making her feel vulnerable and it saddened him to see her so.
"I won't, Lucy, I promise." He said lowly into her ear, placing an affectionate peck just behind her lobe.
Nuzzling her head into the crook of his neck, she sniffled again, wrapping her arms tightly around his neck, "I don't want this, Natsu. I don't care what's causing it; I just want it gone."
Really her words shouldn't have affected him like they did, yet he still felt a sharp tug on his heart. She didn't know the reason behind her vomiting; how could she? He hadn't told her. And now with her so upset, he really didn't know how he was going to do that. Where did he even start?
He'd been so ready to just blurt it out, never considering how Lucy might react to it. In fact, if memory served him, she'd most likely freak until she combusted, or worse, began to cry. This subject had to be handled sensitively and with care, but the longer he left it, the longer he had to dwell on her reaction.
"I know, Luce. Are you sure you still want to wait for Wendy? Gramps told me she won't be back for a week at least." He explained, hoping she might change her mind about seeing the old dragon woman.
"I don't care who I see, as long as they can get rid of it." She said, finally pulling back and wiping her eyes with her sleeve, "I'm just so tired! It's been so long since I've had any real sleep and the puking just won't let up. My tummy hurts, my back aches and my ribs feel like they're being squashed, I have a constant headache and food-" She placed her hand over her mouth again, feeling that overwhelming nausea return. The mention of food, any food, was enough to set her off.
"Just try and take a deep breath, Luce, think of something else."
Closing her eyes, she took a deep breath through her nose and let it slowly out through her mouth, turning her attentions to Haru, "Sorry, little man, Mama didn't mean to ignore you, although you seem pretty content sucking on that scarf."
"He's been doing that all afternoon." Natsu answered for the baby, before switching back to Lucy, "Has the feeling gone now?"
"Not yet, it never really does. It just sits there until something triggers it." She explained, trying to breathe through the queasiness.
"That sucks… Oh, that reminds me, I have something for ya!" Remembering the little gift the old woman had given him, he started rummaging through his pockets, pulling out the item he was looking for and handed it to her, "Take it, Luce, it'll help with your, uh…" Wracking his brain for whatever Porlyusica had called it, "…Sickness." Was what he settled for.
Taking it into her hands she stared at it, frowning at the gross substance which could barely be called a liquid. "Um… Are you sure this is fit for human consumption?" She asked, hesitant to put it anywhere near her mouth. "And where'd it even come from?"
"Well, you know you said you didn't want to go to Porlyusica?" He blushed a little, putting his hand behind his head and grinned sheepishly, "I kinda did for ya and she gave me that. She said to take a few drops of it."
"Hmm… If you say so." She popped the cork lid open and let a few small globs dribble out into her mouth, pulling a disgusted face as it slid down her throat and stuck out her tongue. Little Haru found it hysterical and began laughing at his mother, his whole body jiggling up and down, "Well, I'm glad you're finding this funny, because that is repulsive!"
Natsu smiled, "You did look kinda funny, Luce. But at least it'll lessen your morning sickness now." That was it!
Eyes widening, Lucy snapped her head to Natsu, her amusement gone, "Morning sickness?!"
"Yeah, that's what she called it—which is dumb! It's more like all day and night sickness." He chuckled to himself, quickly falling silent when Lucy's expression didn't change at his little joke. He didn't understand; had he said something wrong? "What's up, Luce? I thought it might help."
"You… you think I'm pregnant?" She asked, eyes wide and mouth agape, her stare never leaving him.
Shit!
So morning sickness was a pregnancy thing? He wished he'd known that sooner!
Cursing himself again, he hadn't meant for her to find out like that and what's worse—she looked utterly horrified. Dammit! What was he supposed to do now? He couldn't lie to her; he wouldn't do that. With no other alternative, he did the only thing he could and sighed, nodding his answer and cringing at the sharp inhale he heard pass her lips.
Hoping she wasn't about to blow a fuse, he approached the stunned girl carefully, taking the vile out of her slack grasp and placed it back in his pocket before entwining their fingers together. Quirking one side of his lip into a half smile, he kept quiet and allowed her to process the information she obviously was not expecting.
His eyes dropped from her shocked face to her partially exposed stomach, catching her other hand instinctively come down to cradle it protectively, like an expectant mother would and it made the adrenaline course through his body.
"Pregnant… How did I not think of that?" She muttered under her breath, truly shocked that she hadn't once considered it a possibility. All the signs were there, everything pointed to it—shouted at it in fact, yet it was Natsu who'd realised it first. The boy that once thought humans laid eggs had figured it out before her? Something seemed fishy! "How come you knew? Who've you been speaking to?" Mortified to think that the whole guild knew before she even did.
"Gray, actually." He replied, shrugging, "And Porlyusica helped, obviously."
"Gray?! What does he know about having a baby? Doesn't he usually shy away from that kind of stuff?" She was astounded to find that it was the ice mage of all people. One of the girls from the guild was understandable or even someone like Gajeel who'd experienced it, but Gray?
"You think Juvia gives him a choice? She was crazy before, but now it seems she's on a whole other level." He sniggered a little, feeling kinda sorry for Gray, but kinda not. He'd made his bed and now he'd have to lay in it.
"Oh, so Juvia's pregnant too? How sweet, she's been desperate since… well, since forever!"
Natsu hummed in agreement, his attention focused more on Lucy's calm and collected demeanour, which honestly, he hadn't expected. She seemed happy by the prospect of growing their family, and that filled him with joy.
"Baby fever all 'round, it seems." Chuckling and tapping little Haru's head, the spirit wielder met the slayers eyes, smiling brightly at him with her hand still firmly placed on her lower belly, "I guess being so sick will be worth it, if it's for a baby."
"Our baby, Luce." Wiping the few stray tears away with his thumb, Natsu grinned at her, glad to see that gorgeous smile of hers split her cheeks, "Now we just gotta test it, right? Only, I don't know how you'd do that?"
"Hmm… I do, but… Oh wait! Cana!" She yelled, scrambling to her feet and nearly tripping on the bath mat. Luckily, Natsu was there for her to grab a hold of.
"What's this got to do with Cana?" He asked, confused—nothing good could ever come of her being involved.
"Her 'gifts'." The boy tilted his head; that made even less sense! "You know… ages ago, she pranked us with the condoms and a pregnancy test?" Lucy whispered to him, not wanting to say it out loud in front of Haru.
"Oh yeah! I wondered where they all went!" His eyes lit up when the memory returned to him.
"Please don't remind me…" Happy mumbled under his breath, a look of trauma on his face.
"Oh, hey Happy! I didn't hear ya come in!" Natsu greeted, waving at the exceed hovering in the doorway.
"Why're you guys looking for those things? You mean you're actually gonna use 'em?!" Nearly passing out at the thought, but shut his mouth quickly when he noticed Lucy glaring at him.
Returning to the task at hand, the blonde continued to search through the bathroom cupboards, "I put them away in here somewhere… Aha! Found it!" She cheered, holding and waving it in her hand to show Natsu.
"Awesome!" He cheered, "Now what?"
"Yeah, uh, you're gonna have to wait outside, and I'll let you know when I'm done." Pulling out the stick from its packaging, she crossed her arms and glared at the boy still standing there.
"Wait, what's happening?" The exceed asked, completely lost on their conversation.
"Why do I gotta wait outside? Can't I stay in here while you do it?" Natsu didn't want to be locked out again, it wasn't fair! He wanted to be in on the action!
She deadpanned, "Unless you want to watch me pee on a stick?" He was clueless.
"No, thank you!" Happy was gone in a flash, back down the stairs, no longer caring what they were talking about.
"So what, Luce?" The fire mage shrugged, "I've seen ya do worse."
"Just get out, Natsu, I'll call you back in when I'm done!" Lucy huffed, shooing the idiot out of the bathroom, ignoring his protests and shutting the door behind her.
Natsu exaggerated his huff, chuckling when Haru copied him, "Looks like we gotta wait out here, little guy. Are ya hungry?" The fire mage asked, taking them both down to the kitchen to retrieve some food.
Once returning to the bathroom door, food thoroughly shoved in their pie holes, they waited. When the door finally opened, revealing the girl with the stick in her hand, Natsu could barely contain himself; he wanted to know the results.
"So, what's it say? Are ya, Luce?" He asked, feeling like a kid at Christmas. Upon setting his own eyes on the girl, his face dropped instantly as he watched fresh tears build in her eyes. "Lucy?"
She wiped her snuffling nose and handed the stick to her partner, allowing him to look at the results. "Two lines means positive; one line means negative." Was all she said, using her sleeve to rub at her irritated eyes.
Peering down at the peculiar shaped object in his hand, he knitted his brows together. On the little screen, there was but a singular line—just one. He looked back up to Lucy, confusion still etched into his expression, "Negative?"
"It means, I'm not pregnant." Disappointment flowed out of her very pores; saying it out loud only reaffirmed it; a bitter truth escaping her lips. "Back to the drawing board, I guess. I'm sorry, Natsu, I know that wasn't what you wanted to hear."
Natsu remained silent, processing it all. It was definitely not the result he had been expecting, but it didn't seem to be bothering him as much as it should've. That niggle along with everything else that lead him to that conclusion, surely hadn't been wrong? He should've felt sad, a little disappointed, maybe? Or even a tad guilty for giving Lucy false hope—but he felt none of those things.
It was true that he didn't have well of medical knowledge like Porlyusica or some other doctor. He didn't read a load of books to get his information like Lucy or even Levy, and he certainly had no experience to pull from, and yet his gut still believed there was hope.
He placed the test down and pulled Lucy to him, enveloping her in his warmth to soothe her aching heart. With her nestled into his chest, he nuzzled his head into her hair, breathing in her scent, allowing it to relax him, when an idea struck.
Unexpectedly he pulled away from the sad blonde, passed her the baby and dropped to his knees, much to her embarrassment. He hugged her close, placing his nose on her lower belly and inhaled deeply, ignoring her flustered rants about 'reading the mood'. After several awkward minutes of her whining and his determination to be proven right, he smiled and let go.
"Natsu, you can't just sniff people like that! What were you doing?! I'm not in the mood for jokes." She sighed, watching him hop to his feet.
"Lucy, I think the test is lying."
Perking her head up to meet his eyes, with brows knitted together, she spoke, "Huh? Tests don't lie, Natsu! Don't be so ridiculous! I know it's hard to hear, but we're not having a baby."
"We'll see about that!" He grinned and hoisted her up, carrying her bridal style down the stairs with Haru perched neatly in her lap, ignoring her yells to be put down.
"Right Haru, let's go get some answers! You coming, Happy?" Natsu's usual electric enthusiasm shone brightly through his grin.
"Yeah! Where are we going?" Happy asked, hovering above the slayer's head.
He winked at the Exceed, then proceeded to kick the front door open and walked out into the front garden. "You ready, Luce?" His grin turning mischievous.
"Natsu, put me down! I don't even have any shoes on! Where the heck are we going?!" She screeched into his ear, making him wince, but smile all the same.
"You don't need shoes when I'm carrying you! Hold on tight guys, we're off to see the old dragon woman in the woods. She'll be able to tell us." He said, sprinting off down the path towards their destination, with Happy flying behind.
Eventually, Lucy gave up her struggle. She wasn't going to win; she never did once he'd set his mind on something. That was usually how all of their adventures started off, him dragging her off somewhere new and exciting. Although, she couldn't say going to see the old woman was new or particularly exciting, but if Natsu thought it was the right thing to do, even if the result remained the same, then she had no choice but to tag along.
Finally nearing the tree, Natsu could see from a distance that the door was open, meaning said woman was out and about, probably collecting ingredients for her next potion.
"So you've returned." They heard the gruff voice from behind, swivelling their heads to meet Porlyusica as she walked over to them. "And you've brought the whole cavalry… Well, don't just stand there gawking, in you go!" Natsu quickly made it into the tree, not wanting to be on the receiving end of the cranky woman with a broom. "And put Lucy down, a pregnant woman is more than capable of walking, boy!"
Lucy all but jumped to her feet, mortified and embarrassed by the whole situation and turned to the healer, "That's the thing though, I'm not pregnant, but Natsu insisted on dragging us out here. We're sorry for wasting your time." The flustered blonde seemed a little too eager to leave and tried to make a break for the door; however; the fire breather's quick reflexes caught her wrist before she could reach the door handle.
"Luce, I told you already: the test was lying!" He repeated, eyes pleading with her just to wait and see what the healer might say.
She sighed; feeling a little frustrated by it all, "Tests don't lie, Natsu. I'm not pregnant and that's all there is to it. I'll just have to muddle through whatever this sickness is until it goes away."
"It came out negative, I assume?" Porlyusica intervened, focusing on the blonde huddling close to the door. "Natsu is right, tests can give false negative readings, especially if it's old or hasn't been used properly." The pink haired woman walked closer to the girl, looking her up and down. "I thought that you might be when I saw you last and I'm rarely wrong."
Lucy hadn't expected the woman to actually agree with Natsu. She hadn't thought that there could be something wrong with the test, but then again, it was from Cana and god knows where she'd got it from. She perked her head up a little and was almost reluctant to look at the dragon slayers expression, knowing the smugness of being right would be written all over his face.
"Ha! See, I knew it! There's still a chance, Lucy!" Natsu shone his vibrant, toothy grin at the blonde girl. She could see the hope in his eyes; he really wanted this; to be a father again and her heart all but melted.
"I have other, more thorough ways of testing, if you'd let me?" Porlyusica asked the celestial mage, bringing her back to the present.
Apprehensively, Lucy nodded her head and went to sit on the bed by the window to await further instructions. She was so nervous, hoping for some positive answers, that would prove the test was false. She wasn't sure her heart could take the disappointment a second time, especially if it included Natsu's this time.
"There are a few different ways I can confirm a pregnancy, blood tests and so forth, but the most efficient way is a scan of the area." She said, gathering the instruments she needed whilst awaiting Lucy's approval. "I use a lacrima and it shows an image of your womb."
"O-Okay." Lucy replied, uncertain of what she'd just agreed to.
She laid back on the bed and pulled her top up, revealing her stomach. Taking a deep breath, the celestial mage twisted her head to Natsu, who had knelt down beside her. Her nerves were rattling within her body and was looking for a little reassurance, something to take the edge off of her apprehension.
He smiled at her tenderly and reached out for her hand to hold tight, not entirely convinced it was to ease just her anxiety as opposed to his own. They were about to find out whether or not their own little creation had taken residence in Lucy's womb, and he couldn't describe what an incredibly surreal feeling that was.
Porlyusica first needed to locate where the lacrima should be placed. Using one hand, she pressed firmly just above Lucy's pelvis, then several times around the area. Still tender and overly sensitive, Lucy tried her hardest not to show the discomfort it was causing. It rippled up into her throat, making her feel sick again, only this time she had no choice but to hold it back.
The wincing and quiet gasps didn't go unnoticed by the dragon slayer. He'd been watching the healer like a hawk, making sure nothing hurt Lucy too much. He leant over, understanding how unpleasant it must be and kissed her temple, whilst running his fingers smoothly through her blonde tresses.
The lacrima was a simple looking flat, green crystal that the older woman laid onto the stellar mages bare skin and waited for the image to appear. With a few flashes of light, a picture was formed like a projection hovering just above the lacrima.
"What the heck is that?! It looks like you swallowed a ball!" Happy couldn't take his eyes off of the image.
"That's so cool! I'm totally looking at your insides, Luce!" The fire breather enthused, unable to take his eyes off of the image.
Lucy rolled her eyes at the pair; typical Natsu and Happy, "You're both such idiots…"
"When you're done bickering, I'll explain what you're looking at." Porlyusica cut in. She pointed to the big black oval shape on the projection, that Happy kindly pointed out, and looked at the pair, making sure they were paying attention. "This is the outline of your uterus, Lucy. And from what I can see, it looks perfectly normal and healthy."
"Oh okay, that's good then." She pointed to a smaller, light coloured ball at the bottom of the black oval and knitted her brows together. "So, what's that?"
Moving the lacrima crystal slightly, the healer repositioned it to get a closer look at the small ball and both mages eyes near bulged out of their sockets. Their mouths dropped open and breath hitched simultaneously as the image took on a more human shape, its arms and legs moving rapidly.
"Oh my… Is that…?" Lucy had never seen anything like it, her mouth had gone completely dry and she felt the butterflies in her tummy cause her to quiver, she was in awe.
"Look at what we did, Lucy…" Natsu murmured after a few shocked, silent moments, catching the girl's attention. His eyes were glued to the image, watching it kick out with it's tiny little developing legs and feet. "It's an active little thing…"
"It's a baby, Natsu…" The celestial mages eyes glazed over, unable to control the flood of emotions that entered her system.
For the first time, the fire breather peeled his sights away from the projection and looked to his partner. His own tears peaked at the corners, feeling so overwhelmingly happy to be able to share this with her.
"Mm… it sure is, Luce." His voice sounded airy, sleepy almost, like his body had simply relaxed. His brilliant smile beamed at the blonde, making her heart skip a beat as she turned to face him fully, the sound of their little one's heart beat filling their ears.
"Look Haru, you're gonna have a little brother or sister." Lucy said as Natsu held him up to see, pointing at the even tinier one wriggling around on the projection. "It's a little one, just like you!"
Porlyusica turned the crystal once more, allowing them to see the baby from a different angle, "As you can see, Lucy, you are pregnant and by the looks of it, I'd say you have been for about ten weeks now."
"Ten weeks?! Surely that's not right; I would have noticed long before now!" Lucy was stunned to learn she was that far along already. The symptoms had only just started and she'd menstruated within that time—hadn't she?
"Not necessarily, pregnancy doesn't follow a certain set of rules. When Juvia came to see me regarding the same thing, she'd been suffering with symptoms from around the six week mark. Levy, on the other hand, had no symptoms and she was carrying twins. Some women experience symptoms just at the beginning while others, all the way through. Some later and some sooner, and some none at all."
"Oh… I didn't know. So, what happens now?" Lucy asked, feeling a little bit of disappointment when the healer deactivated the lacrima and removed it from her belly—she could've easily watched it all day.
"Yeah, when will it be born? Is it a long wait?" Natsu butted in, moving to sit next to the girl on the bed.
"And I thought Gray was clueless… A pregnancy takes nine months or approximately forty weeks, meaning Lucy has about thirty weeks left to go."
"That long? But that's ages away!" Natsu whined, turning into a child himself.
"Yeah, why can't it be born now?" Happy joined in, wanting to meet the little one already.
"Quiet, boys, before I kick you out!" She threatened, returning her attentions to the blonde, "Look after yourself, Lucy. A stressed mother is a stressed baby, but so far everything is looking as it should." The woman returned her equipment to their places and snapped her head to the little family still sitting there, "What're you both still doing here? Get out!"
"Yes, ma'am!" Natsu and Lucy jumped to their feet at lightning speed and ran out of the door, making sure they were out of sight of the old woman before slowing to a halt.
"Ugh! Now my feet are all dirty!" Lucy groaned, lifting her bare feet up one by one to inspect them, grimacing at all of the mud now coating them. "This is your fault- Mmph!"
A pair of warm, smooth lips silenced her, pressing urgently to her mouth, his hot breath sending shivers down her spine. With him taking the lead, Lucy relaxed into it and enjoyed the feel of his mouth on hers, their tongues interloping, causing butterflies to re-enter her stomach.
Pulling apart, but barely, he stared at her angelic features and couldn't help but smile at the beautiful girl before him. Thanks to her, he was going to be a father again. A father not to just one, but two precious babies and he felt like the luckiest man in the world.
"I love you, Lucy." He grinned, the biggest, widest grin she'd ever seen, so enormous it was almost too much for his face. But it was still heart meltingly cute and to hear him say those words again was enough to turn her into a puddle. It wasn't something he said very often, but she was fine with that. It made times like this all the more special.
"I love you too, Natsu." She could see just how happy he was, his very soul glowing like the fire he wielded. "So, are you going to tell me how you knew?"
He quirked his brow, "Knew what?"
"That the test was wrong." She said, her eyes flickering between his.
"Oh… I, uh, sorta had a feeling, I guess. And I was sure I could smell something." He shrugged, about to lean in for another kiss.
"You could… smell something?" Horrified she pulled her face back; did she smell?!
"Yeah, another scent. I've been able to smell it since I came home the other day, but didn't know what it was until now." The boy explained, bringing her head back to him.
"You can smell the baby?" Lucy's eyes widened in fascination.
"Sure. It's real faint, but if I try hard enough, it's there."
"Wow! That's incredible!" She looked down at herself again and cradled her belly, right where the lacrima had been and pictured their perfect little baby safe and sound in there. "I'm so happy, Natsu."
"Me too, Lucy." Natsu chuckled and finally managed to pull her back in for a loving and tender kiss, relaying all of his own happiness to her in one fluid motion. His hand came up to rest on top of hers, caressing the soft skin of her belly, imagining just how beautiful she was going to look in the months to come, carrying his child.
But their passion was swiftly halted when a certain little fella stopped them in their tracks, placing a hand to where their lips joined and made a cute babble sound, as if he were trying to work out what they were doing. Chuckling, they both turned to Haru, who was still looking at them curiously.
"You two are just nasty!" Happy said, placing himself down on the floor. "Not only do you eat each other, but you're now doing it in front of Haru!"
"We don't eat each other, I have no idea what you're talking about!" Lucy defended, shaking her head.
"Yeah you do and other… more explicit things!" Happy shivered at the thought, "Otherwise you wouldn't be in this situation."
"What situation is that then?" Lucy asked, defiance lacing her voice.
"He means the baby, Luce, even I understood that one!" Natsu piped in.
"Really?!" She exclaimed sarcastically, "Ugh! You guys are infuriating! With any luck, this baby will be a girl, then I won't feel so outnumbered!" She huffed, crossing her arms.
"And she'll still end up like Natsu, and you know it!"
Lucy's expression deflated, her arms sinking to her sides ans sighed "You're right…"
"Anyway, with another mouth to feed, you might wanna reconsider that job, Natsu!" The exceed mentioned, not noticing the dragon slayer shoot daggers at him.
"Oh… What job is that then?" The blonde asked, curiously. She didn't remember Natsu mentioning anything about a job.
"It's nothing really, Luce." Natsu shrugged, playing it down.
"You should have seen the reward! I've never seen that many zero's in a number!" Happy chirped, only now noticing the look his friend was giving him, telling him silently to shut up.
"Natsu, what's up? How come you never said anything?" Lucy asked, placing her hand on his shoulder.
"It's not that big of a deal. Gramps gave me a request yesterday, but I turned it down, that's all." He explained, seeming a little dismissive but otherwise normal. "Why don't we get ya home? It'll be dinner time soon." Seeing the reluctance in Lucy's face to believe him, he sighed and smiled at her, not ready to have that conversation just yet.
Suddenly her feet were whipped out from under her and she and Haru found themselves in the air, with two strong arms holding them up, "Natsu!"
"What? Can't have Mama all pooped out now can we, Haru?" Natsu laughed along with the infant, grinning widely, "'Cause she's still gotta cook us dinner!" He smirked at the young woman in his arms, who's eyes snapped at to him, glaring at his handsome face.
"Hey! How come I gotta slave away in the kitchen?! I'm pregnant now, you should be making me dinner!" She retorted, huffing and turning her head to the side.
"I don't mind cooking, it's whether you mind having a kitchen or not?"
"On second thought, stay out of the kitchen, you're too much of a fire hazard. But you owe me a foot rub, after all, this is your doing!" She smirked back at him.
"Oh… I never remember you complaining, maybe I'll have to get you to jolt my memory later." He chuckled lowly back, rising to the challenge.
"That's it! You two are disgusting! I'm taking Haru and you can both find somewhere else to do your dirty stuff tonight." Happy whizzed down to snatch the giggling baby from Lucy and speedily zoomed off into the distance, leaving the other two behind.
"Hey! That's no fair! You got a head start!" Not willing to be beaten by a flying cat and a baby, Natsu hurtled himself and Lucy in the same direction, her screams of terror echoing throughout the forest.

Send me an ask if any of you wanna be tagged in future work of mine!
________________ "you coming?" oscar's deep voice came out through the speaker on y/n's phone, which sat on her dresser as she finished getting ready, swiping one last touch of lip gloss on her plump lips before putting it back in her make up bag. she looked at herself in the mirror, running her finger through her y/c/h hair. "si, i'm just waiting for angelica to get here. so impatient. i'll be there soon baby." her lips curved up in a tiny smirk as she heard her boyfriend let out a little scoff at her words. she and oscar had been dating for nearly a year now - they had met each other at a party and immediately hit it off. people had warned her to stay away from spooky, that he was no good, nothing but trouble - and sure, she initially had her reservations about dating him given his lifestyle, but she couldn't deny her feelings for him the more time they spent together. their relationship was passionate, intense, fiery. people had doubted that they'd last but there they were, proving everyone wrong. that didn't mean their relationship was always great - they had fights, disagreements. she hadn't agreed with his treatment of cesar, kicking him out and essentially leaving him homeless, but she realized it really was out of his control. "yeah alright. i'll see you mamas." just then, she heard a honk come from outside her home. angelica was there. saying she'd see oscar soon, she ended the call and made her way out of her home, locking the front door behind her and walking over to the car parked beside the sidewalk. inside was her friend angelica and all her friends - she and angelica went to school together and stayed in touch even after they both graduated. it was y/n that had invited angelica to the little party that the santos were throwing. getting in the car, the young female greeted angelica and her friends and with that, they were off, driving down the familiar streets of freeridge to the party. "so you and spooky are still together, huh?" one of angelica's friends, mariana, questioned. at the mention of her boyfriend, the y/h/c haired beauty felt a smile tug at her glossy lips. it was an instant reaction at this point. "oh yeah she is. look at her, she's blushing!" one of her other friends, yesenia, remarked, a wide, amused grin on her face. y/n rolled her eyes, but wore a smile on her face nonetheless. "ay ya cayense. yeah we're still together. it's gonna be a year soon." she told them. "a whole year. and some people thought we wouldn't make it past a month." "so i'm guessing you're not gonna need a ride home after the party?" "oh girl you already know what she's gonna be riding after the party. tu ya sabes." ____ the drive lasted only about a few more minutes before they finally arrived at their destination. mariana parked the car in front of the car and all four ladies climbed out. y/n immediately spotted her boyfriend's cherry red car and she got excited, wanting nothing more than to just see him already. together, all four ladies walked side by side down the driveway of the house and into the backyard where the party was just barely getting started. the sun was still out and the backyard wasn't as full as she knew it would become. she knew once the moon was out, that's when shit would get cracking. y/n's y/e/c eyes scanned the group of santos for her own santo until she finally saw him. he had just turned and walked away from who she recognized to be ruby and his older brother mario. mario who just so happened to be angelica's ex boyfriend. but that went to the very back of her mind when oscar's dark eyes landed on her, when a smile pulled at his lips and showed off those dimples she loved so much. her feet moved on autopilot, carrying her toward her tall boyfriend until both of them were standing in front of each other. "hey mamas." he greeted. he leaned down ever so slightly, hands on her hips, pulling her body flush against his muscular one. the butterflies in her stomach were going wild and she wasn't ashamed to admit that oscar always had that effect on her. "hey papito." she leaned up as he leaned down and finally closed the space between them, their lips meeting in a kiss that took her breath away. in the midst of their lip locking session, y/n felt oscar's large hand sliding away from her hip, moving to her back and down to her ass, giving it a firm squeeze. she let out a small gasp followed a breathless laugh against his lips, resulting in a smile pulling at his lips. both of them pulled apart, her hands resting on his chest and his hand still holding onto her hand, meanwhile the other was on her hip. "you look good." he commented, glancing down at her body. y/n smiled, removing one hand from his chest and lifting it up to his face. with her thumb, she wiped away from of the shiny residue of her lip gloss from his lips, knowing for sure that her own lips were now smudged with the clear gloss. "you don't look so bad yourself baby. thanks." she snatched the beer right from his hand and took a drink from it, giving him an innocent look. "damn, so you just gonna come up in here and take my drink?" he asked, face hardening, though she could see the humor shining in his eyes. he wasn't serious and she knew that. one thing that she loved about their relationship was the different sides she saw to oscar - she saw his vulnerable side, the side no one really saw, and his goofy and silly side. sure, oscar was a serious man but with her it was as if he was comfortable enough to be what he couldn't be in front of everyone else. "mhm. what's mine is mine and what's yours is also mine." she took a drink from the beer to drive her point home, laughing after she had swallowed the alcohol, laughing because oscar gave her ass a soft smack. "alright smart ass. let's go get another beer since you wanna be taking mine." with oscar's arm now wrapped around her, they walked toward the cooler, y/n greeting the santos that she was familiar with. most of the people that were there already knew her or had heard of her - it wasn't a secret that spooky had a girlfriend. "so, mario is here. angelica is here - that's not gonna end well, you know." she commented, glancing over to her clueless friend who had absolutely no idea her ex-boyfriend was at the same party with his little brother. mario on the other hand had seemed to notice angelica and was doing everything in his power to avoid being seen by her. "shit, that ain't my problem. i was just trying to help little man out." ____ the sun had gone down and now the moon (along with some lights) was illuminating the party which was in full swing. there was a dj booth set up, more people now occupied the backyard. music was playing, people were drinking, playing beer pong and having fun. y/n was among them - oscar was standing a few feet away with his homies while she stood with some of her own friends, some of them were also girlfriend's of santos. the young female held a drink in her hand, her body slightly swaying to the music that was playing loud through the speakers, a smile on her face as she listened to one of the other girls animatedly tell a story about the time her boyfriend got shit faced drunk. it all happened so quick. one moment y/n was laughing, tipping her head back, and the next her shoulder was accidentally being pushed by someone walking by her. it wasn't hard enough to hurt but it was hard enough for her to lose her balance and trip on her own feet. she crashed into a body beside her own, her drink spilling down their shirt and regret and embarrassment immediately took hold of her entire being. "shit! shit, i am so fucking sorry!" she apologized profusely. it was a guy she had crashed into - she recognized him as someone who had recently been initiated into the santos. she thought she had heard some of the guys refer to him as carlos. his eyes were on her and he looked anything but happy. his nostrils were flaring and his eyes held anger. surely he understood that it had been an accident right? "i can get you some napkins-" "you dumb bitch! watch where the fuck you're going!" before y/n could even react or have time to process what was happening, she felt her body being shoved backwards roughly, the air leaving her lungs for a brief second. she collided with the cold hard ground rather harshly, her palms breaking her fall - she could already feel the sting of the scrapes she was sure that she had. her ass hurt too from the sheer force in which she had fallen. she could feel the tears stinging at her eyes but she refused to cry, not in front of all these people who now had their eyes on the scene which was unfolding. "you stupid hyna. that'll teach you to watch where-" he never got the chance to finish what he was saying because a fist collided with his face and sent him falling to the ground similarly to y/n. it was oscar and he held nothing back as he leaned over carlos and began punching the absolute shit out of him, anger radiating from every inch of his body.
oscar hadn't seen what had led up to her getting shoved to the ground, but he had seen carlos laying his hands on her and pushing her to the ground and he saw red. nothing but red. he was protective over those he loved and cared about and there was no exception when it came to y/n. he wasn't about to let some pinche desgraciado disrespect his lady like that, he wasn't about to let him get away with putting his hands on her and pushing her to the ground.
all anyone could do was stare as oscar, who no doubt was now spooky, lay into carlos' bloody face, face contorted in anger. people knew better than to try and stop an angry oscar. "you fucking put your hands on my girl? huh?!" y/n had seen oscar get mad before, but she had never seen him get that mad. she had never seen him become that enraged. and while it was certainly a frightening sight, she couldn't help the way that it made her feel - he was defending her. "i should fucking kill you for laying a hand on her puto. i should fucking kill you!" meanwhile carlos was whimpering beneath oscar that he hadn't known she was his girlfriend and that he was sorry. that was when y/n sprang into action, pushing herself up and ignoring the sting she felt in her palms. she knew that if she didn't stop oscar, or at least try to, he'd definitely kill carlos. she knew what that tear drop tattoo meant, but that certainly wasn't how she wanted the night to end. "oscar! oscar baby, stop. stop!" she looked over at two santos and gestured for them to stop oscar and they did as told, each of them grabbing oscar by the arms and pulling the tall man away from the now bloodied carlos. he gave a wheeze, spitting out some blood, turning on his side and curling in on himself from the pain. oscar shoved the two santos off of him and leaned down, harshly pulling up the bloodied man by the collar of his shirt, getting in his face, lips curled like a rabid dog ready to bite. oscar was certainly ready to strike again, the only person stopping him was y/n and his need to make sure she was okay. "you're gonna apologize to her. and then you're gonna fucking leave. i don't wanna see you because if i see you, i'm gonna fuck you up again. don't ever put your hands on my lady again. that goes for everybody here!" his voice boomed, eyes looking around at the crowd that had gathered around the scandalous scene. "if any of you ever put your hands on y/n, it'll end the same way it did for this puto desgraciado." he spat. then his focus was back on carlos, shoving him in the direction of y/n, who was gently rubbing at her palms. "you're fucking lucky i didn't kill you. apologize. now." carlos, genuinely fearful, looked at y/n as best as he could with one of his eyes already closing shut. "i-i'm.. i-i'm sorry.. i'm r-really.. sorry.." each word he spoke seemed to be painful for him to get out. but y/n didn't care. all she was focused on was oscar. after the apology, oscar shoved carlos in the direction of the driveway, everyone watching as he stumbled off by himself. the crowd dispersed, chatter now erupting all over the backyard once more, everyone no doubt discussing what had just happened. everyone knew to give oscar space, leave him be because he was still seething with anger. but while everyone moved away from the angry santo, y/n moved closer to him, gently reaching for his hand that was bloody. she couldn't tell if it was his blood or carlos' blood. "os.." she spoke softly. his eyes met her own and they softened ever so slightly before he looked away, looking anywhere but her. she sighed, pulling him along with her inside the house. with his hand in hers, she walked them inside the bathroom, shutting the door behind her. the young female put the toilet lid down and sat him down on it. she grabbed a towel and wet it with some water before reaching for his hand, wiping away the blood. the white towel became red, and she realized all the blood was from carlos' face. oscar suddenly reached out and stopped her actions. her took the towel from her hands and turned them around so her palms were facing him. they were scraped up and some little pebbles from the ground had embedded themselves in her skin. it wasn't bad but it certainly stung, especially now that the adrenaline she had felt earlier was starting to die down. oscar gave a deep sigh, bringing her hands up to his lips and pressing a kiss against her skin. "i'm sorry, mamas." he still wouldn't look at her. "i'm sorry this shit happened to you. lo siento. i never wanted you to see me like that." it made sense to her now. oscar was ashamed of y/n seeing him like that, seeing him lose control and beat someone to a bloody pulp. he had never wanted her to see that side of him - she knew being with oscar wasn't gonna be a fairy-tale, she knew what his lifestyle was like and what he did, who he was. but she loved him regardless. "oscar, hey. look at me." she spoke in a soft voice. "look at me." she removed her hands from his large ones and placed them on his cheeks, getting him to finally look at her. her eyes fell on the teardrop tattoo resting below his eye, and her thumb smoothed over the black ink, then their eyes met once more. the dark eyes she loved so much stared deep into her own and it was like she was swimming in pools of chocolate. "you don't have to be sorry. what happened, it was fucked up but i'm fine, alright? really. it's just a few scrapes. nothing bad. and.. i'll admit, seeing you like that.. it definitely took me by surprise." she admitted. oscar's jaw clenched, and he tried turning his head but she wouldn't let him. "it took me by surprise but it also made me realize how safe i am with you. i remember when we first got together, you told me that being with you was dangerous but.. you protect me better than anyone. don't be ashamed, not with me. i know you, os. and i love you." he perked up at those words, the shame leaving his eyes, being replaced with something else entirely. for a few seconds he was silent, but his hands slipped around her waist and tugged her forward. he rested his forehead on her stomach, shutting his eyes. "i love you too preciosa. i'd do anything for you. anything." when oscar looked back up at her, eyes shining with an emotion he rarely showed around anyone else, she leaned down, capturing his lips in a kiss. his lips that were spewing nothing but hate at carlos were now moving soft against her own. "you know.." y/n murmured softly against his lips, pulling away slightly. she rested her forehead against his own, their lips still brushing together. "it was actually kinda hot seeing you like that.. seeing you defend me like you did.." oscar's lips curled up into a smirk, his hands now sliding down to her ass where he grabbed two handfuls, fingers lightly digging into her ample, clothed flesh. "oh yeah? how about we get outta here, baby girl? you can, uh, repay me for defending you.." "yeah alright. i do need a ride."

AO3
After giving Mel a hug on the porch, Harry walked up to the attic with heavy steps. He could have orbed, but given his mental state, and the extent of his exhaustion, he didn’t trust himself not to end up in Ireland.
When he pushed open the door he was pleasantly surprised to see Macy curled up on the couch in her pajamas with a book, a tea set spread out on the coffee table. His heart, which had been heavy with guilt, and questions, and the weight of all the decision he couldn’t remember making, lightened considerably. “This may be the best thing I’ve ever seen.”
She looked up from the book and smiled. “Need the tea that badly, huh?”
He settled next to her on the couch, instinctively reaching out to put a hand on her knee as he leaned back and closed his eyes. They’d gotten more casual about their touching since he’d gotten back from Hell, and so far neither Charity nor the other Elders had confronted him about it. Either he and Macy had been lucky, and the Elders had no idea, or he and Macy’s relationship was low on their list of priorities.
“I wasn’t talking about the tea, Macy.”
“Do you have a minute to talk?” she asked, and she sounded so serious and quiet he opened his eyes to look at her. Her expression did give him much hope she was about to tell him good news.
“Of course.” His nerves came to attention as he leaned forward and made both himself and Macy a cup of tea. Could she know already what he’d discovered today? He pushed the panic aside, because it didn’t matter if she knew, he’d always planned on telling her anyway. “Is something wrong?”
“Yes,” she answered, folding her hands neatly in her lap. “Do you remember our conversation from this morning?”
“Oh, the one about death and resurrection and endless cycles of guilt?” he asked, trying to tease a smile back on her face because he didn’t like how pale and hopeless she looked just then.
“That one.” She tried for a smile, but it didn’t meet her eyes. “I summoned the necromancer who brought me back.”
Harry froze, cup in hand. “You what?”
“I needed answers, Harry,” she answered in a rush. “And she was the only one who had them.”
“I’m not mad,” he assured her, because it seemed as if she had expected anger from him and was trying to calm him down before he exploded. “I’m just astonished. What happened?”
Macy gave him a quick recap of what had happened that day, from summoning Knansie to them going after Cyd before the death of the necromancer due to her attacking Parker.
“That sounds like quite the adventure,” he commented, because he knew there was likely more coming. Running around town with a necromancer was unusual, but it was hardly enough to bring such a look of trepidation into her eyes.
“It was, it was also enlightening.” She took a deep breath and then met his eyes, “It turns out Knansie wasn’t just any old necromancer. She’d made a deal with a demon, eternal youth for creating more demons for him, and the way she did that was by using demon blood in her resurrection rituals. Which means I’m part demon.”
Harry had seen the words coming, and had been unable to stop them. He put his teacup back on the table, and as he turned to look at Macy he saw her knuckles were white she was holding herself so tightly. He shifted so he was facing her and reached out to cover her hands with one of his own. “Are you okay?”
She looked down at their hands and then back to him, narrowing her eyes at him. “That’s it?”
He tried not to laugh at her astonishment. “What? You were expecting something else from me?”
Macy opened her mouth and then closed it again, looking off towards the door. “I don’t know,” she finally answered. “I guess shock, at the very least.”
Harry considered his response to the news. Shock was definitely there, along with worry, but he was more worried about Macy’s reaction than anything else. “I’m surprised this necromancer used demon blood, it’s hardly necessary for the ritual, but I suppose it answers a few questions like why Mama Roz saw darkness in you.”
“I feel that darkness,” she told him, pressing one of her hands against her sternum. “I can stop hearts, did you know that?”
“No,” he admitted, but then he’d never been whitelighter to Charmed Ones before. They were said to be the most powerful witches in the world, there was likely much they were capable of, more than anyone knew.
“Knansie had gotten into my head, convinced me Cyd was bad, and that I could stop her. I could protect Knansie and get my answers, and all I had to do was stop Cyd’s heart.” There was pain in her eyes, but Harry knew the best thing he could do was hold onto her and listen.
She shifted her hands so her fingers were linked with his, as if she needed the extra contact. He squeezed her hand once, to let her know he was there. “I could feel her heart, how easy it would be stop it. I felt powerful, Harry.”
Her voice sounded terrified, and Harry understood the fear. It was so easy to believe in moral absolutes, and the certainty one would never cross it. “But you didn’t,” he reminded her because he knew without her saying she hadn’t gone through with it.
“Only because of Maggie,” Macy argued. “If she hadn’t been there, I don’t know what I would have done.”
“You would have done the right thing Macy.”
“You don’t know that,” Maggie insisted.
Harry didn’t know how to convince her he was right. He’d known his fair share of witches over the years, and more than once he’d worried what some of them would do with the power they had. But he’d never questioned that when it came to Macy or either of her sisters.
They might be selfish with their powers, protecting each other over everything else, but they’d never intentionally do any harm. There was too much good in them for that.
But, perhaps, that was something Macy would have to find out for herself.
“Did you she tell you anything else?”
“She told me why my mom gave me up,” she answered, and this time her smile held no pain in it. “It wasn’t her choice, it was part of the bargain. In order to save a life, you have to give up a life. My parents had to give up the life we were supposed to have as a family. Instead, we were only allowed to have two years as a together, and then Marisol and I were never allowed to set eyes on each other again.”
After having learned he’d lost his son, had given him up, Harry fully understood what Marisol must have gone through at the end of those two years. The heartbreak at giving up her daughter, the joy at knowing she’d live a full and happy life. “She must have loved you quite dearly.”
Macy nodded and shifted on the couch, her eyes looking away from him. “If this changes things for you, Harry-“
“Why would this change anything?” he asked her profile.
Her laugh sounded incredulous, and he thought he saw tears in her eyes before she looked away. “You weren’t supposed to have a relationship with a witch, I can’t imagine the consequences of sleeping with a demon.”
“Half-demon,” he corrected because he didn’t want her to focus on the wrong things. “And I imagine there might be a rule or two against that, I wouldn’t know because I’d never been tempted to engage in any kind of relationship with one.”
He put his hand on her cheek and gently turned her face back towards him. “But I find myself very much tempted now. But first, I should tell you why I wasn’t able to help you and Maggie earlier.”
Macy knew she was probably holding onto Harry’s hand too tightly, but since he didn’t seem to mind she didn’t let go. He hadn’t walked away from her, which she now knew was ridiculous. But when he’d been out of touch and she’d had nothing to do but overthink, the fear he’d end things with her had been real.
“You were with Mel?”
His hand dropped from her face, his thumb brushing briefly against her lip. “Yes, thankfully. She can be quite the level headed person in crisis.”
“Crisis?” she asked, suddenly thinking about all things which had happened to him in the past few months, and what might have occurred when he was too far away for her to help. “Are you okay?”
“Physically, I’m fine,” he assured her, but she didn’t like the caveat. “But mentally, I’ve taken a bit of a blow. You may have noticed that my mind has been… elsewhere lately.”
She remembered the conversation they’d had shortly after he’d woken up from being rescued. He’d mentioned having a son, but he hadn’t brought the boy up since and Macy hadn’t wanted to pry. They had so many threads tying them together, friends, secret lovers, guardian and protected, but she wasn’t sure where any of the boundaries were.
How much was she allowed to push before she crossed the line?
“I had noticed, I figured it was about your son and you’d talk to me when were you ready.”
Harry nodded. “I couldn’t forget him, couldn’t forget how guilty I felt. It was messing with my abilities. When you called me – I’m so sorry, I would have come if I could.”
“It’s fine, Harry, we managed.” It had worried her when he hadn’t come, because she’d so recently gotten him back. It was hard when she couldn’t see him, she was constantly afraid he’d be pulled back down to hell or grabbed by the Elders for some perceived slight. When Mel had finally made contact the panic had eased, but only slightly. “We can’t expect you to save us every moment of the day, it has a cost.”
“Well, Mel and I went to Manchester instead of here.”
She tried for a joke, “Brings a whole new meaning to Freudian slip.”
He laughed. “Yes, I suppose you’re right.”
When he didn’t continue she shifted closer, she was facing him on the couch so she moved until her knees touched his hip. “What happened in Manchester?”
“We couldn’t get back. Mel and I realized I needed to sort out my head before we could come home, so we wandered around until something seemed familiar. A church.” He took a breath and Macy waited him out, let him take his time. “We went through the church records and eventually found a marriage certificate.”
He looked at her then, and she couldn’t imagine what her face must look like.
Marriage certificate.
A wife.
“Her name was Clara.” Macy’s heart stopped. She’d had enough issues with Charity being the first witch Harry had ever broken the rules before, and now she had to contend with a wife. But those jealousy issues had to be put aside, he didn’t need that right now. Were there magical therapists? Because there was no way she could walk into a regular shrink’s office and explain her jealousy over her dead boyfriend’s wife. “Are you doing alright?”
“Yes, I’m just processing.” She paused. “I mean, you said you had another life, I guess I just never thought about the people it must have included. What do you remember about her?”
“Very little,” he admitted, and he looked guilty about the fact. “It’s as if the dragon pulled on a single thread with my son, and it’s the only one I can follow.”
“Were there any records about your son? Were you able to find him?”
“I learned his name from the files,” he answered. “His name is Carter.”
“Carter,” she repeated, and realized she was thinking the son was still a child. But he’d been born in the fifties, hadn’t he? A baby boomer, which meant he was likely a grandfather now. “His name is Carter? He’s alive? Did you meet him?”
“Yes, he is alive, but I didn’t meet him per se.” His eyes drifted off, like he was focusing on a memory. “I only saw him from a distance, saw his grandchildren. We made eye contact and he gave a nod, but obviously he didn’t recognize me.”
Macy couldn’t imagine how painful that must have been, to see an entire life you didn’t get to a part of. Would her mother have felt the same if they’d met now? “Does he think you died?”
“I’m not entirely certain,” he admitted, turning his gaze back to her. “I hope he doesn’t believe I ran out on him and his mother.”
“Wait, I’m sorry.” Macy needed to back up the conversation a few seconds, having just processed what he’d said. “Did you say you saw your son’s grandchildren?”
His smile was soft, and so very sweet it warmed the parts of her which had been cold for hours. “Yes, a little boy and girl.”
“You have a grandchild, and grandchildren.” Macy laughed, slapping her hand over mouth as she came to a sudden realization. “Sorry.”
He grinned as she tried to stop laughing. “You’re amused.”
“I just,” she hiccupped. “I’m dating a great-grandfather.”
“A rather well in shape one,” he pointed out.
“Excellent point.” She tilted her head, still smiling. He was in spectacular shape, not overly muscled, but lean and strong and she reeled her mind back from the direction it was going. Now was not the time. “Carter Greenwood.”
Harry shook his head. “Actually, that’s not my given name. My birth name was James Westwell. So, it would be Carter Westwell.”
“James,” Macy scrunched her face, looking at him. “I don’t know if I see it.”
“Me either,” he agreed. “And for what it’s worth, I’ve been Harry much longer than I was ever James.”
“How do you feel?”
“Good,” he answered. “I hate knowing I missed Carter’s life, and I feel a bit guilty knowing so little about my wife, but he looked happy.”
“That’s important, Harry. Happy is good.” His calm was seeping into her, easing the strain around her heart. She could breathe again without the weight on her chest. “Maybe someday you’ll get the whole story, but I think you know the important parts.”
“What a pair we are,” he leaned forward and kissed her, and it felt so natural and normal she didn’t stop to think about who might be watching. “A 37-year-old great grandfather and a resurrected half witch.”
He said it with such casualness, she couldn’t quite believe it. “It really doesn’t bother you?”
“No,” he assured her. “Does it bother you I had another life before?”
She was jealous, and maybe a little envious someone else had gotten to have a piece of him she’d never get to have. “You wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for the life you had before,” she finally answered, wanting to be honest with him. “How can it bother me, when it brought you to me?”
“What a turn of phrase,” he answered, leaning forward to kiss her.
Macy reached up to touch his jaw, her fingers brushing along the barely-there whiskers which had grown throughout the day.
Harry suddenly deepened the kiss, his tongue sliding along her lips.
“You’re not healed,” she reminded him, even as she opened for him, her hands sliding to the back of his neck.
“I don’t fucking care,” he assured her. He grabbed her arm and pulled her until she was straddling him. “Lock the door.”
Macy did it without a thought, already suffused in desire. She’d almost lost him, and having him around had almost been enough. But now that she was touching him again, she realized how desperately she needed this physical reminder he was safe and home and hers.
Harry’s hands slipped beneath her shirt, his lips grazing her neck, her shoulder, before returning to her mouth. The tips of his fingers grazed her breast and she heard a deep rumble in Harry’s chest. “You’re not wearing a bra.”
“I was ready for bed,” she explained, the hardness of his erection pressing against her. Instinctively she ground against him, the pleasure just enough to spark the embers Harry’s hands had created. “Are you sure-“
“Take your clothes off, Macy.”
Maybe she would have tried for a sexy striptease if it had been another day, but she had no patience for it. She got off Harry’s lap, and dropped her shirt and pants on the ground. Looking down at his lap she saw the press of his erection against his pants.
Macy had gone without sex for nearly thirty without much of a problem, but the past week without Harry had been excruciating. She’d missed the taste of him, the feel of his body against her, the feel of him pressing deep inside her.
“Come back to me, Macy.”
Coming back to the moment, she smiled down at him and used her powers for purely selfish reasons and undid the buttons of his vest and dress shirt with magic. Harry grinned and grabbed her hand, tugging her back down to him.
Macy settled on his lap, naked while he was still fully clothed. She was intent on divesting him of his shirt, but before she could follow through with those thoughts Harry distracted her with his lips on her breasts.
He tasted and teased her, and in response she could do little but writhe against him. Harry’s mouth traveled back up her neck and Macy finally got the chance to put her hands on him.
She pushed aside his shirt and saw the fading bruises on his chest, her fingers tracing the black veins. She wanted to fuss over the injuries, but she knew he’d had enough of her and her sisters worrying over him. Instead, she leaned forward and pressed her mouth to his chest, just above his nipple.
“Wait,” he stopped her, and she considered murdering him. “This is the real world, not the orb.”
She realized what he meant. In the orb they didn’t have to worry about condoms or being walked in on. Here in the real world her sisters could hear them, Charity could drop by for absolutely no reason, or a demon could attack without warning.
She dismissed each problem as quickly as she thought about it. “We’ll be quiet.”
He smiled as he kissed her. “That’s not what I meant, Macy.”
“I’m on birth control, and you’re still the only person I’ve been with. So if you’re worried about pregnancy or STDs, we’re clear.”
“You’re on birth control?”
She pointed to her forearm where she’d gotten the implant. “I wasn’t sure how conception worked when one person was immortal, but I figured better safe than sorry.”
“Good to hear, but that’s not what I’m talking about.”
He was asking about the risk of Charity or the Elders finding out, but the truth was Harry was taking all the risk here. “I’m in this, Harry. I’m not worried about the risks.”
In response he kissed her, aggressive enough it took her by surprise but she quickly caught up to him. She licked into his mouth, her hands tracing his chest and stomach, finding the buttons to his pants by touch.
“Fuck,” he hissed as she wrapped her fingers around his cock. He instinctively jerked against her hand, and she just imagined the feel of that thrust in her.
“I want you, Harry.” She whispered, guiding her to where she was wet and desperate for him. He hissed as she slid down, taking him deep, filling her up in a way she hadn’t ever felt before.
“Oh,” she breathed. “That feels amazing.”
Harry’s hands slid down her body, to cover her hips, his fingers digging into her soft flesh as he lifted her up. “It feels as if it’s been forever.”
Macy knew what he meant. It had been more than a week since he’d been back from hell, and in those intervening days they hadn’t been together, Harry had been too weak. But she could feel his strength now as he lifted his hips off the couch to bury himself even deeper inside her.
Taking a cue from him she raised herself off him slightly and then slid down again, the friction intense, especially when Harry leaned forward to pull her nipple into his mouth. She moved her hands beneath his shirt to put her hand on his shoulder, needing the skin to skin contact.
His hands continuously moved along her skin, teasing at her hips, tracing the curve of her ass, cupping her breast. There was so much sensation as she chased her orgasm.
“Quiet, Macy. Remember?” he asked as he lightly bit the skin at her throat which wasn’t helping her be quiet. She whimpered as her rhythm was thrown by the quick, erotic touch. “I’ve got you.”
Macy kissed him as she kept moving, the hard length of him driving her up and up, but she knew she wouldn’t be able to come in this position. “My leg’s cramping.”
Harry grinned and kissed her neck, right where he’d bit her. “We can’t have that.”
He wrapped his arm around her waist and lifted her up, shifting so he could lay her back on the cushions of the couch. Macy stretched her legs out, the bottoms of her feet sliding along the soft fabric of his trousers.
“Better,” he asked as he kissed her again.
“Yes,” she kissed him back, her hands sneaking under his open shirt to slide along his back. “I missed you.”
“I’m not going anywhere,” he promised.
Their lips touched, not enough to be considered a kiss, just a brush of contact. “Are you going to come for me, Macy?”
“Yes,” she breathed. She was so close she almost couldn’t take it; she dug her fingers into the muscles of his back. “Please, Harry.”
She felt him shift above her, his arm moving between them. When his thumb pressed against her clit she jerked against the sudden sensation.
“Good?”
“Yes,” she agreed, but the word was barely a breath as she chased her orgasm. “Again.”
Macy moved against him, the combination of his quick strokes and the hard pressure of his thumb against her clit bringing her to the brink.
When she came, it was a sharp, bright thing.
“Fuck,” Harry bit out, only lasting a few more thrusts before spending inside her. “Christ, Macy.”
She shivered against him, shifting closer to his body heat. “I can’t feel my toes.”
Harry chuckled, the vibration of which she could feel against her bare skin. “Is that a good thing?” he asked, pressing a kiss to her shoulder.
“Yes,” she sighed, enjoying the weight of him above her. If nothing happened for the next three minutes she’d happily fall asleep right here with Harry’s lips brushing her overheated skin.
Macy was convinced it was that thought which jinxed, because seconds later she heard the doorknob jiggle and then a knock at the attic door. “Macy? Is everything all right?”
Harry muffled his laugh by pressing his face into the curve of her neck. “Everything is good, Maggie.”
“The door’s locked,” her sister pointed out, trying once again to the open the door.
“I know, Maggie.”
There was a significant pause before Maggie, with amusement in her voice, asked, “Is Harry in there with you?”
Harry shifted to look down at Macy and when she nodded he turned his head towards the door. “Hello, Maggie.”
Macy swore she heard her sister giggle. “Okay. Um. Mel and I were going to make a late-night snack, but it sounds like you guys already got a head start on that. So, I’ll leave you to it.”
When she heard the footsteps of her sister heading downstairs, Macy laughed. “I suppose we might not have been entirely successful on the quiet portion.”
Harry smiled down at her, his fingers gently moving her curls out of her face. “I think that just means we need more practice.”
“You’re absolutely right,” Macy agreed, pulling him down towards her.

princess of the mainland, pt two
part two requested by @ponyboys-sunsets: I loved your jj fic with the touron reader! could we get another part to it? maybe she is going around the island with jj, hangs out with the pogues, or even run into some kooks? there’s so many possibilities!
part one is right here if you haven’t read it yet!
summary: two weeks after their first meeting at The Wreck, jj and his tourist girl spend an eventful night together at the boneyard, including a run-in with everyone’s favorite kooks. word count: 2,114
“i can’t believe you can’t surf, y/n. that’s a shameful thing to admit around these parts,” jj claimed, as he was currently scolding you for not being educated and skilled in the art of surfing, which you’d quickly noticed was his all time favorite thing to do in his spare time.
“oh, oh, sorry. i don’t wanna disgrace you, then, right? so i’ll just head back to the hotel, you know, leave you alone with your surfer thoughts,” you threatened in response, the corners of your mouth perking up as you watched jj’s reaction. the two of you were walking down the beach, headed to a kegger at a place jj referred to as “The Boneyard.” ominous. as you trekked through the sand, the blonde boy had been commenting on surfers that you were passing. critiques like ‘terrible form,’ ‘what a fuckin’ wipeout!,’ and ‘that guy’s definitely never surfed before now’ had been falling from his mouth without hesitation. he had his fingers laced through yours, but that had been just about all of the attention you were getting from him before you told him you’d never surfed before. now, he seemed ready to throw you on his own surfboard and ship you off into the ocean, but lucky for you, there was a kegger for him to attend instead. however, that didn’t stop you from teasing him a little.
hearing your threats to abandon him on the beach to return to your family, who you’d barely seen during your so-far two weeks of vacation, jj yanked you into his side, wrapping an arm around you and squeezing. “no fuckin’ way, princess. nice try, though. think you can escape back to kooklandia now? it’s a little too late for that.” your heart skipped a beat when you heard the word princess, but you ignored it. you’d learned on day one that heart palpitations were just a jj side effect for you.
“once a pogue, always a pogue?” you’d offer with a smile. he’d hum contently at your statement. at that point, you two had almost arrived at the party. from where you stood, you could see john b standing by the keg, pouring drinks for partygoers with that social butterfly smile he always wore. sarah was wrapped around jb, her arm around his waist as they both laughed at something. pope and kie were just as easy to spot, sitting close to each other on a log around the bonfire.
“okay, game plan,” jj would say as you continued strolling in the direction of the keg. “tonight, we get drunk and have a good time. tomorrow, after your day of kook-ish tourist activities, surfing lessons.” a groan would slip out of your mouth before you could think twice, and jj laughed at you for it. “i’m a great teacher, you know. i can teach you plenty of other shit too, if you wanted.” the low tone of his voice would make you laugh this time, immediately shutting down any ideas he’d had. as you laughed, jj would lean his head against yours, breath fanning out on your temple as he breathed a laugh with you. “okay, fine. keeping playing hard to get. but--” he quickly shifted into a sing-songing voice. “your vacation won’t last foreverrr!”
you nudge him with your shoulder, smiling at him as you spoke. “jeez, jj. what kind of girl do you think i am? jumping into bed with a guy i’ve known for 2 weeks?”
“you know you’d be honored to jump into bed with me.”
“woah, woah, woah, kiddos! who’s jumping into bed with who, now?” john b would call with mock concern, laughing as you two got close enough for him to hear your conversation without even realizing. “the night is too young to already be acting so scandalous!”
“don’t worry, jb, i was just reminding jj that i’m not the typical island girl. just a simpleton of a mainlander, if you will.” jj threw a shut up your way before releasing his grip on you to grab you each a drink.
almost an hour later, jj decided to break out the joint he’d had sitting in his pocket, lighting it before taking a pull from it and handing it off to you. as you smoked, the two of you began strolling toward kie, who you both knew would love her fair share of jj’s weed. as you approached kie and pope, though, another body placed itself directly in front of the two of you.
“hey, pogue,” you heard, looking up to see a boy you’d never seen before. the only thing you knew about him based on that one glance was that he was a super kook. “what a surprise to see you here!”
jj’s grip on your hand tightened, and it clicked in your head. this must be rafe-- sarah’s evil older brother who tortured the pogues every chance he got. you’d heard plenty about rafe during your two weeks in the obx, and you weren’t too impressed by his reputation. upon realizing this, you also predicted that jj was about to lash out. you squeezed his hand back, trying to let him know you understood without speaking, but he didn’t seem to get the hint. you tugged on his arm this time, trying to pull him around rafe without any more damage. “sorry, we’re not interested tonight,” you’d quickly speak up in rafe’s direction, jj finally taking a step to follow you when he saw rafe’s thrown off, slightly confused look toward you. “’scuse us.”
“really, jj? backing down from a fight before i can even beat your ass?” another two kooks began coming down the beach, laughing at rafe’s words as they neared-- unbeknownst to you, it was kelce and topper. jj’s steps faltered at rafe’s challenge, but there was no chance you were letting go of his hand.
“hey, islander, cut the shit. we’re not doing that tonight,” you’d call out to jj, seeing the fire in his eyes when the two of you made eye contact. speaking again, you lowered your voice this time so only jj could hear your words. “two possibilities, right? one: you fight, you beat his ass, he gets pissed. or, two: you walk away, he gets just as pissed that you won’t give him the time of day, we go smoke another joint. i’m here for vacation, not wwe, you know.” over the past two weeks, jj had shown up to your hotel to pick you up on multiple occasions with bruised and bloodied body parts, claiming to have gotten into a fight on his way there every time. you knew that side of him was one he let show more than frequently, and you understood where he was coming from, but you still wanted him to be safe. (what ever happened to like, ‘yo mama’ battles, or something? why is everyone always fistfighting nowadays?)
after letting out a low growl of disagreement, jj let you pull him farther from rafe as the older boy continued to run his mouth behind you. you heard the other kooks joining in, spewing harmless insults at you both as you walked away. when you reached the other pogues, kie had a look of impressed awe on her face, and pope seemed to be in blatant shock. laughing at their expressions, you passed kie the joint before turning back to check on jj. “you good?” he shrugged, still appearing to be a little pissed off, but not enough to do anything about it. “was my assumption that that was rafe cameron correct?”
pope jumped in then, standing and placing his hands on your shoulders. “yes, y/n,” pope confirmed in an exasperated tone, shaking your shoulders lightly with every word. “that was rafe cameron, and you just achieved the impossible. like, fucking defying gravity, kind of impossible. you just kept jj maybank from fighting rafe cameron? how the hell did you just do that? huh?” jj would roll his eyes at that, taking the joint back from kie with a huff. “hey, here come john b and sarah! did you guys just see that too?!” pope would yell to your quickly-approaching friends, causing you to laugh again.
as john b and sarah walked up to the group, you and jj took your own seats on the log next to pope and kie’s. knowing what was about to happen, jj buried his head in your neck (after checking to make sure rafe and his pawns weren’t watching anymore). “i hate you,” he’d grumble into your neck, prompting you to run a hand through his hair with a smile as you told him he was wrong. he grumbled inaudibly again, then groaned when john b and sarah began asking him questions about what they’d just witnessed. “y/n made me break the rules of the jungle! okay? that’s it! my girl’s a mainlander, and she follows the rules of mainland society! she doesn’t get it! how is that my fault?!” everyone would laugh at the outburst, and your heart did another backflip when jj called you his girl. unlike the nickname of princess, though, being his girl stirred up some new feelings for you. where is this gonna go after i go back home? do i just lose him? you’d suddenly wonder, looking around at your new friends to avoid making eye contact with jj. fuck, i don’t even wanna lose his friends, let alone lose him. fuck, fuck, fuck.
though you didn’t realize it, jj noticed your change in emotion right away. he’d felt your pulse jump under his lips, and when he looked up to check that you were alright with being called his girl, he saw the look on your face. it was a look that jj could only connect with panic, uncertainty, nervousness. when you didn’t do anything but slip your hand into his, though, he chose to let it go for the time being. it wasn’t until you two started walking back to john b’s later in the night that he addressed it. “you good to go back to jb’s?” he’d ask, trying not to be too specific with his words, but still wanting to be certain that you were certain. certain about whatever you’d been thinking about earlier at the boneyard, whether it was him, or the pogues, or anything else. jj found himself constantly wanting to make sure you were okay during those two weeks. he was always glancing in your direction when you wandered off for a moment, and texting you on days you spent with your family to make sure it wasn’t going too terribly, and tossing a sweatshirt toward you when he felt you shiver under his arm during a night on the hms pogue. in those two weeks, you became jj’s top priority, at all times.
“yeah, little sis is gonna cover for me for the night. she texted me that she stuffed my hotel bed with pillows for just in case mom and dad come in while she’s asleep,” you laughed, bringing a chuckle out of jj, too. “i just have to be back by 7 tomorrow morning so nobody realizes i wasn’t there overnight, and mom’s psycho itinerary starts at 9. no problem.”
“that’s good to hear,” jj would reply, taking a breath before continuing. “but, not really what i meant.” when you looked at him quizzically, he spoke again. “i don’t know, i don’t want you to think i’m kidnapping you or something. i just wanna make sure this is all cool, i guess. and all the stuff earlier, the sex jokes and stuff, you know, that’s not serious. i mean, i’d love to, but i don’t care about it, you know? like--”
“jj,” you cut him off, laughing at his rambling and pressing a kiss to his hand, which was being held in your own as you walked. “i know. you don’t have to worry about me misunderstanding you. i think i’ve got it by now.” he smiled in relief at that, but you weren’t done. you could see the Chateau now, so you sped up your words in a low voice in order to get them out before being in earshot of the other pogues. “and, fyi, the sex jokes are fine. funny, even. but, it’d be okay if they weren’t jokes, too.”
jj’s eyes would widen, making you laugh, and his grip on your hand would tighten just a little. “are you-- are you serious?” you’d nod, a smirk on your face as you looked up at him and feigned innocence. “oh, my god, y/n. i’m so glad your sister is covering, because you are so done for.”

Soulbonds and Fairy Dust
TITLE: Soulbonds and Fairy Dust (rewrite) CHAPTER NO./ONE SHOT: 25/?
AUTHOR: nekoamamori ORIGINAL IMAGINE: Imagine one of the fae has been helping the Avengers, jumping in to help them on missions and vanishing before Shield can bring her in.  Loki joins the team and convinces her to come talk to the team and consider joining before Shield takes more drastic measures. RATING: M NOTES/WARNINGS:  This is a rewrite of the original work of the same name.  Also on AO3 here
Sigyn vanished her book as they got closer to the gate.  She could sense the fae better than any of the others and she was on alert for danger. “Will we be facing any resistance, darling?” Loki asked when she noted Sig’s concerned expression as she focused on their surroundings.
“Yes, but not how you mean,” she told Loki, her eyes unfocused as she focused instead on what she was feeling.  “You’re going to argue, but I have to deal with this one.  She would kill you all on sight otherwise,” she told Loki firmly.  Her tone left no room for negotiating.
“Darling? What are you talking about?”
The group was close enough by then that they could see the gate and the lone figure standing in front of it.  A fae child, or so she appeared. “She’s who I’m talking about,” Sig replied, pointing to the girl.
“And she is?” Loki asked impatiently.  Sig wasn’t being particularly clear or helpful and Loki wasn’t fond of unknown danger.
Sig rolled her eyes and huffed just as impatiently.  “She’s the realm I’m sealing away,” she told Loki too patiently.  “I did mention that she’s sentient.  That is her. To name her is to give her power,” she reminded her that there was power in the name of things. Especially when said in front of one of the fae.
Loki nodded her understanding once Sig had spelled it out for her.  “Are you sure I cannot help?” she asked.  She didn’t want to leave Sig in danger, though she accepted that Sig knew the fae better than she did.
Sig considered that, considered her options. “You can come.  They cannot.  The soulbond should protect you, but there are two conditions,” she told Loki firmly.  There could be no deviating from her conditions and she would leave Loki behind if Loki couldn’t agree to her terms.
Loki nodded while the others looked like they wanted to protest.  They were supposed to protect her, not let her go into danger alone. “What do you require of me?”
“Don’t speak to her unless she asks you a direct question.  If she does. Do not lie,” she told Loki firmly.  Loki was the goddess of lies and sometimes her default was to lie or fib.  She couldn’t do either in front of Underhill.  Sig hesitated before she added.  “I won’t stop you from coming with me, but the other condition is that you cannot go before her with any kind of illusions.  Any.  She’ll see through them and take it as an insult.  I can face her alone and I won’t ask that of you,” she added the last gently.  She wouldn’t ask Loki to strip her last illusion.
She couldn’t do that to her.
Loki shifted back to his male form.  “No illusions. I may be the god of lies, but I know how to tell the truth, Sigyn,” he told her firmly.
It broke her heart what she had to do to get her point across. He hadn’t understood.
“No, Loki.  No illusions, not even this one,” she told him gently.  She knew what it would cost him to strip the last illusion.  “I told you that I won’t ask it of you.  You can guard from here with the others.  I won’t ask you to strip the last illusion in front of them,” she indicated the others, reminded Loki that they were there.  They would see, if he went through with this. They would see his true form.
Loki sighed heavily once he understood what she meant.  “Is this the only way I can come with you?” he finally asked.  “I do not wish for you to face her alone,”
Sig nodded firmly. “It’s the only way.  She takes great insult at any who come before her under illusion.  And she is the one who enforces the rule that the fae cannot lie,” she explained.  Then she added. “She likes me, I’ll be perfectly safe.  You don’t have to come the rest of the way.” Sig wouldn’t ask him to strip his last illusion in front of the others. She knew how he felt about the Asgardians seeing what he actually was.
He sighed again and hesitated, but dropped the last illusion, appearing in his Jotun form with his beautiful sapphire skin and scarlet eyes.  He looked sheepish and afraid to be seen like that, but Sig just gave him a warm smile.  He was her Loki no matter his form.  “We do this together. We’re soul bound. You don’t have to do anything on her own anymore,” he told her firmly, determined to see this through with her.
There were gasps of shock from the morons.  Sif and Thor were more polite about their curiosity.  They’d all been told Loki was a Jotun, but none of them had seen his true form until now.  Sig stood on her toes to kiss his cheek and he blushed purple. “Thank you,” she told him, though the words were hard for her to say.  She saw his nerves and anxiety at the reaction of the morons, but he was more shocked by her kissing his cheek.  She concentrated a moment and her own illusions faded.  There were more gasps from the morons as they saw the scars all over her body from duels in the seelie court.  She hadn’t told anyone about them.
Loki would grill she about them later.  For now, Sig took his hand and the pair walked down to where Underhill was waiting for them. Sig dropped Loki’s hand a few steps in front of the girl and took another step forward alone, leaving herself as the focus of conversation in order to protect Loki.  Sig dropped to one knee to be on the girl’s level while Underhill looked over Sig and Loki with ancient eyes that didn’t fit the form she wore.  “Hello Tilly,” Sig greeted her gently.
“Siggy!!” she replied happily and Sig prayed to any god who would listen that Loki wouldn’t pick up that particular nickname.  Underhill looked at Loki.  “Who’s he?” she demanded suspiciously.  She didn’t like strangers.
“He’s my soulmate,” Sig replied carefully, answering her question without naming Loki.  She also carefully spoke the truth to Underhill. It was a very delicate balance. “and my other best friend, besides you of course.” Loki wisely remained silent while Sig spoke with the child-shaped realm.  He was immensely curious, but he wouldn’t put Sig or himself in danger.
Underhill nodded, accepting the answer. “The Seelie Queen said you’re trying to seal me away.  She knows better than to lie to me,” she accused Sigyn sounding hurt and angry.
Sig smiled kindly.  She could deal with Underhill if the person-shaped realm continued being reasonable.  “Seal away my friend?  Not at all.  The queen must be confused.  I’m only closing a few gates that are in inconvenient places.  You don’t want more sad children like I was, right?  The Gray Lords like taking children like me, and these gates are too close to places with lots of children.  I want them safe,” Sig explained to her.  She was careful to tell her the absolute truth, just twisted in her favor.  The fae were good at such truths and Sig was no exception.  Loki was quite proud of her for it.
Underhill thought about that for a terrifyingly long time.  “Stealing children is bad,” she finally agreed and Sig nearly breathed a sigh of relief.  “You’ll come visit me again?” she asked softly.
Shit.
Sig had to agree.  There were no other options.  She also had to be careful about it.  “I will in the future. When it is safe,” she replied, making the promise since she had no other choice.
Underhill hugged her.  “Then you can close the doors,” she looked at Loki and Sig could see that she was looking not at him, but into his very soul.  She was a realm of magic and could do such things.  “I like him,” she finally said and Sig breathed another sigh of relief.  It wouldn’t be good if Underhill didn’t like Loki, or decided he needed to die.  Neither of them couldn’t take on an entire realm and hope to win.  “He can take care of you for me,” she added before she bounced back through the doorway to her realm.
Sig sighed heavily in relief. Loki brought back his Asgardian illusion once she was gone.  “Are you alright, darling?” he asked, knowing how difficult that conversation had been for her.
She nodded and stood again.  It was emotionally draining to keep up that conversation with Underhill, to be so careful not to offend her.  “One must tread carefully around her.  It’s a good thing she likes me and was being reasonable today,” she told Loki.
He nodded and Sig got to work on closing the doorway.  Loki stayed at her side, wary of Underhill and not trusting that she would keep her word.  That doorway was even harder to close than the others.  Underhill said she could close it, but she wasn’t making it easy on her.  Sig managed, but the color seemed to drain from her when the doorway was closed.  Her hair had lost its vibrancy, her eyes dulled.  She swayed, fighting to keep her feet under her. Loki’s arms were around her in an instant, holding her on her feet.  She held onto him, exhausted, letting her head rest on his chest for a moment.  “Tilly didn’t have to make it so hard…” she grumbled softly.
“She said she could close the doorway. Why did she make it so hard?”
“Because she can? Because that’s how the fae are and she rules all of them? Because she still doesn’t like that I’m closing them?” she whined too exhausted for existential questioning.  She couldn’t answer why a realm did whatever the fuck it wanted, even pretending to look like a child.
Loki sighed.  “Come on, darling. Let’s get back to the palace,”
“No!” she protested, looking up at him horrified.  “There’s still two more gates, we can’t go back yet!!” she continued protesting, distressed by the suggestion that she was failing and needed to go back home.
“Darling, you can barely stand on her own,” he told her gently.
“I’ll sleep it off and we can close the last two tomorrow,” she insisted.  She didn’t want to fail Mama Frigga and she didn’t want the Asgardian children in danger.
“One gate at a time, darling. Two nearly has you passing out,” Loki insisted, horrified by her condition and terrified for her.
“There’s only two left. I’ll be fine,” she tried to reassure him. “Then we can go back to the palace,”
“Are you sure that’s wise?”
“I want this done,” she told him softly and stood on her own again.  “Once it’s done then we can go home to a hot bath and comfortable beds,” she added wistfully.
Loki sighed, but gave in, knowing it was no use arguing against duty.  “Alright. But let’s head to an inn so you can eat and rest.”  It was the best he was going to.

End of the night, looking at me, what do you see?
Wish I could read your mind
All this powerful man craved was touch. A touch that can ease his mind. Ease his guarded heart. He was well known as Endeavors masterpiece but behind closed doors was less than a work of art as people visualized it. He was trained for years not even having the chance to live his youth with such joy and happy memories. Growing up he was restricted from talking to any kid that came his way, his father looking down on every child that wanted to become friends with his son thinking that no one can ever be enough for his Shouto. Shouto was above everyone else and Endeavor made sure to remind him that throughout the years.
When the incident of his scar came, he didn't hesitate to escape the house he lived in. No sibling could have ever prepared for that moment that changed his life.
Dimming the light, here in the dark, going by feel
Only the moon to guide
As he ran with tears in his eyes, he tripped on a rock making his knee scrape the ground leaving an ugly wound to it. The rain poured, even the skies cried for the poor boy who only wished to be normal and to be loved. Shouto hugs his knee letting his sobs echo through the empty street.
Rain stopped pouring over his head and he looks up with hurt eyes. His bi colored eyes land on a girl in a yellow rain coat hovering an umbrella over the two of them.
"You look really cool. Whatcha doing here? Mama says raining gets you sick." He sniffles as he looks at the girl with e/c eyes. Her head tilted as she wonders about the random boy. She looks at the boy who was hugging his knees when she finds an unpleasant wound on his knee. Her eyes widened as she grabs his hand dragging them to a corner where rain couldn't reach them. He was being dragged by a rather cute stranger and he had no choice but to follow her because he was lost in the thought of a girl holding his hand.
"You hurt ya self. What's the your name?" She asks removing the raincoat exposing her beautiful hair. He wiped his eyes turning around, scared that this interaction would cause him a consequence from his father.
"Stop talking to me, n-no one likes me. Go away." He says with sadness. He stands up with his head hung low. He was scared of talking to her. He hasn't interacted with anyone who sounded like an angel. He starts to walk away when the girl ran up to him, surrounding him in a hug. His eyes widened, his arms frozen, time suddenly stopping as he was focused on the tiny girl that was hugging him.
W-what is this feeling? A h-hug?
"Mama says when someone is hurt we should give them a big ole hug! I hope this makes you feel better! Mama always does this to me!" She cheers continuing to hug him. He sobs in her shoulder finally allowing his arms to reciprocate her embrace. They sit on the floor. To her it meant nothing, just a girl comforting a boy who was sad. To him, it was everything. Finally someone comforted him and she didn't push him away or scold him for crying. She was hugging him. Letting him know that crying wasn't weak like his father told him.
"I really think you look cool, pretty boy. I like your hair. Oh and your eyes! How did you make them like that?" He laughs at her questions wiping away his tears as he pulls away from the hug. She touches his hair and squeals at how cool the colors were and he softly smiles at her.
"What's your quirk? Can you change colors?" She asks with a lifted brow and he shakes his head no. She tilts her head at his movement looking at the cool boy with her curious eyes.
"No. My quirk is ice and fire. My dad says I shouldn't use it outside though." He pouts but she shakes her head. She grabs her by the shoulder looking at him with her big eyes.
"THAT'S. SO. COOL. Can you show me? Pleaseee?" With every word she shakes him as his face showed his shock with tight lips and wide eyes. He sees her pouting and sighs before removing her hands on his shoulder as he raises his left hand emitting a small flame from his palm. He touches the ground softly with his right hand making the ground frozen. She lets out a gasp as she rapidly claps her hands.
"YOU'RE SO COOL!" He smiles shyly at her.
"What's your quirk then?" He asks while she opened her mouth, his arm was harshly pulled. He was faced with an angry Endeavor.
"Father-"
"You! Get away from my son! A weakling like you should never come near him again. Shoto, come with me this instant." He says and you gather your raincoat, glaring at the man who hovered over you. Shoto looks at you, hoping this wasn't your last meeting.
"Please father-"
"NO! You are coming home leaving this rat. She doesn't deserve you, Shoto. Let's go." He says and as he drags his son who was trashing around desperately trying to reach the girl.
"Don't worry cool boy! I hope I helped! We'll play soon!" She screams, waving at him happily and this brings a slight smile onto his face. The words of his father blurring out as he was focused on the girl that brought him happiness from a single embrace.
I didn't even get her name.
Now that he's in UA being praised by his peers, his mind still lingers on the girl that made him feel safe. He wished he could've gotten her name, just something to remind him that she made him feel that way even if she was a stranger.
He sits at the back while he admires the girl that was laughing at Denkis English accent. He swears she was familiar. Mina leans her head on the sweet girl while she continues to laugh at Kaminaris poor attempt to flirt with her. Y/N turns to Shoto who already had his eyes on you. You simply blush at it but chose to look away ignoring the butterflies that surrounded your mind.
Despite him being a friend of yours, you couldn't hide the feeling of your heart when he walks by. Avoiding to sit beside him whenever you had lunch, scared to let him see your flustered cheeks. He always asked you if he wanted to half with his soba, noticing it was his favorite you decided to say no every time. Your friendship began when the annual Sports Festival came when you managed to land a battle against Bakugo. You and the hot headed were friends since you hang around Kaminari. But he didn't back down, even if he was fighting a friend. In the end, he won. But he regretted seeing your passed out state. Todorokis hands form a ball as he leaves his seat rushing to go to Bakugo.
"How could you do that to her?" Todoroki asks him as Bakugo rolls his eyes.
"What does it matter to you half and half? It's a battle. I had to win. " Todoroki glares at the blonde in front of him.
"I'm her friend too, shit head. You think I don't feel like shit seeing her like that." Todoroki rolls his eyes.
"Some friend you are then, Bakugo." He spat but Bakugo only shakes his head with a sly smirk on his face.
"And you're one protective ass boyfriend." Todorokis cheek warms at the thought but before he could defend himself the door creaks open to you sleepily rubbing your eyes with bandages.
"K-katsuki.. Todoroki?" You saw the two of them while Todoroki rushes to your side.
"Hey are you okay?" Todorokis tone softens as he sees you covered in bandages. You nod at him before looking over at Bakugo.
"You did good their, dumbass. You're boyf-" Todorokis eyes widen as he closes the door leaving a chuckling Bakugo behind.
"What was that?" You ask tilting your head as he stops in his motions. He takes in your expressions and his brows furrowed at the similarity.
Where do I remember that from?
"Expect nothing but nonsense from him."
He didn't mean to protective then but he couldn't hide the similarities of the young girl to you. You mirrored an angel in disguise in his eyes. He sees how you enjoy protecting people giving them your perfect smile. He only wished that it was you so it made sense to him when he started to like you. Once he's gotten all the pieces together, he could never let you go again.
And you wished the opposite.
The minute you saw his hair when he entered Class 1A. You knew it was him, the boy you had comforted when his father took him away before you can even get his name. He had grown into a handsome and powerful man, much reserved and guarded now. He also took in your presence but you hoped he wouldn't recognize you. You hoped that you were a forgotten memory. When you were a child you came back to where you had met the boy telling you're parents that you two were gonna play again. After a week of his disappearance you were broken at the thought of the cool boy never meeting you again.
But now you two were in the same room everyday.
Even after school.
There were moments when you would visit his room along with the others for a study. You would be the one to be left behind still answering a few questions you skipped, anxious to ask him a bunch of questions when him and the others were already finished.
"You sure you really don't need my help?" He asks with a chuckle seeing your stressed state as you just twirl the pencil in mid air, your focus long gone.
"I just couldn't catch up with you guys, I understand it- I really do. You guys are just too fast and I barely understood half of the things you said with the way Izuku kept rambling the equation." He laughs before getting behind you, his chest pressed against your back as he grabs the pencil you were toying with before pointing the pencil at the equation you've avoided. Your breath hitched at how nonchalant he was being this near to you.
When we're alone, I get so close
Give me your warmth I've never known
"I understand the Midoriya part, he was very confusing but I will help you." You couldn't even understand half of what he said while his head peaked on your left side, cheek to cheek with yours. Your telekinesis loosing control as some of his pencils were circling behind you two, your eyes wide and your stance tense. Your cheeks flushed red when he turns to look at you. Your heart literally screaming, beating so fast.
"I really hope you're not searching for the answer on my face. Oh well is there anything on my face? You've been staring at me for a while." He says monotone but his bluntness only brought you more trouble when he noticed you staring.
Please help me. You thought.
"N-no really there's nothing there you're just really pretty- t-the uh equation is pretty hard sorry I just keep getting distracted-" He laughs at you before pulling away from where he was positioned earning you the time to breathe.
"Now you do sound like Midoriya. Why don't you head back to your dorm? I'm happy to continue this equation if you're having a tough time with it." You shook you're head trying to reach the paper in his hand but he only lifts it higher considering he was way taller than you. You roll your eyes at his tease but he only smiles more.
"Please, I'm volunteering. Get back to your room and sleep well. I'm not asking for anything in return. "
"But-"
"Quiet, Y/N. It's really okay." You sigh in defeat as you step back. "Fine, thank you Shoto. Good night and you sleep well too. " You say to him and he gives you a nod.
"Goodnight, Y/N." As you close his door, you nearly couldn't walk back to your room at how nervous you are. Still in tact with your quirk as his pencils, pens, and notebooks were all in mid air twirling continuously. As he takes a sit to finish your equation, he jumped slightly at the sound of things falling beside him pressing his foot to the floor freezing it. His eyes widened at his stationary were all laid out on the floor, silently thanking that it wasn't some sort of bomb.
The moment he realized he needed you close to him was when the training camp incident began. Scared of the thought of you getting hurt without his protection. He knew this wasn't because he was your friend, he wanted to be more than your friend. At that moment, love blossomed in his heart thawing the ice that protected it.
When training camp began, none of you expected to be ambushed by villains. There you were seperated from him when blue flames surround the area. Villains came and attacked the students. As you were running to reach the building you were faced with Toga as she gives you a wave.
"My! You're so pretty~ I would love to borrow that sweet face of yours. Seems like I can't be your friend, deal with her for a while." Toga scurries away when your back came in contact with a Nomu. You ran away as he chased after you, you flew before removing a few trees and send their way to the Nomu. You're eyes glowing purple with the use of your quirk as you flew to the others helping them while gathering rocks and wood to be your weapons.
Shoto can see you from above as you gathered countless of rocks. He watches you as you raised your hand with a scream when you threw all of them to the villains that circled the Pussy Cats. Your purple aura circling around you like a fire but what you didn't notice was a man with a hand out directed to you shooting blue flames in your way sending you off, screaming at how painful the flames were as they touch your skin.
"Y/N!" Todoroki screams trying to run to the direction you flew off but he was stopped by Midoriya.
"Todoroki-san we have to save Kacchan. Y/N-chan can handle herself." Todoroki only agreed knowing Midoriya was right.
When Dabi had his hands on Bakugos neck, you flew heading straight for Bakugo but he disappeared before your eyes. Your eyes glowing more than usual as you sunk down to your knees feeling helpless that you couldn't save him.
When you turn around to see Todoroki who you have yet to seen for the entire night and you flew to him wrapping your arms around him as he quickly reciprocated your sweet embrace. You gripped his shirt, feeling overwhelmed to see the boy safe. Your mind easing at the sight of him without any wounds.
Face to face, caught in a wild embrace
"You're okay.." he whispers, thanking the stars she was safe and sound. Hugging her tighter before tears dampened his shirt.
"I c-couldn't save him-" You tried to reason but he only shushes you before you can say anything else.
"I know, I know but what matters right now is that you're safe here with me."
Since then his goal changed from being a hero to being your boyfriend who can always protect you. You also became more open with him as you come by his room whenever nightmares would surface and you did the same whenever he was at rage with his father.
Only you know how to save me
Now, you're all sat in the common room watching TV while you flew around trying to escape Bakugos wrath. Meanwhile, Kirishima was mindlessly switching channels he stops when he sees Endeavor and Hawks on the TV.
"I didn't know Endeavor and Hawks were friends- SHIT A NOMU! " Kirishima shouts averting everyone's attention to the TV. Shoto came running to watch. As the battle began, you bit your lip with worry as you watch his expressions. You didn't get want to use your telepathy to see what he was thinking, knowing you'd be pushing some boundaries if you do so. Everyone was tenses and cheering for Endeavor. When Endeavor was shut down you can feel his heart ache. Everyone else turned to him but soon came to turn back to the TV.
For the past minutes, all you could feel was how his heart was breaking with every blow his father receives but when his father raises a fist to the air while Todoroki falls to his knees, panting and sweating. Everyone was commanded to give him some space. He runs to his room, closing the door with a slam, his heavy breathing surrounding the room. Covering his face in his hands as he tried to calm his self.
You flew right to his room ignoring the screams from the others to let him have his space knowing that Todoroki needed more than space and silence. You opened the door to see him in his bed, knees to his chest as you hears his sobs. You immediately wrap your arms around him, running your hands through his split colored hair that you fell in love with. You used your telepathy to avoid him from replaying the moments in his mind.
Put your arms around me, baby
"It's okay, Sho. I'm here we're all safe. He's safe and he did amazing. You don't need to worry, I got you." He hugs you tighter as you comfort him caressing his back. You pressed a kiss to his hair. He hugged you tight, finding your arms to be his safe zone and he never wanted anything more than to be held by you all the time.
And squeeze
"Breathe for me okay?" He nods before leaning his head on your shoulder, closing his eyes taking in your words.
Remember the night talking to me
Saying the words I wanna hear the most
He was reminded of the angel that fell on his path when he was a kid but now his breathing calming down knowing the same angel that saved him before was here in his arms.
"Its always been you, Y/N." He says pulling away from your embrace as he places a hand on your cheek before pressing his forehead to yours making both of your cheeks flushed red.
"That night- when I was a kid. It was you. I found you." He says and you smile at his words.
"I found you too, pretty boy." He smiles at the nickname before pressing his lips to yours. You smile before kissing back your hand finding its way to his cheek pulling him closer. The stars were more than happy to see you two finally found each other. You both pull away as you look at each other. He hugs you again smiling to himself and you embraced him with all the love you had for him. With his heart happy and filled with love finally finding the girl meant for him he only thought to himself.
I've found my home.

word count: 12k+
tw: like domestic abuse like,,, tough family situations,,
a/n: this was kind of inspired by a dream I had of Lucas and like I’m honestly really in love with like the vibes of those like Taiwanese school dramas like ‘Our Times’ and like those dramas with the vibes of like the Reply series, so I thought I would try something different and do something for Lucas inspired by that,,, so enjoy!! I had a lot of fun imagining how Lucas would behave if he were in this situation..
Tumblr media
Usually, Lucas would have stuck to just pacing around the stretch of field near his house whenever he left his house out of boredom when his parents weren’t home, but he didn’t regret wandering into the market on the day of his 8th birthday, after a ritual cutting of a small cupcake his housemaid had prepared for him. Because if he hadn’t decided to wander, his life wouldn’t have changed, according to him. ( which really meant he wouldn’t have stumbled across your grandma’s noodle shop )
“Hello,” your grandma smiled in greeting, waving at the young boy who looked fascinated at such a place, never having been to any eating place other than a restaurant before. Lucas waved shyly at her, carefully climbing onto a stool near the table next to the kitchen, watching in fascination as your grandma cooked.
“What’s your name, dear?” she asked the rosy cheeked boy, who fiddled with his short bangs before replying a quick, “Huang Xuxi,” to her.
It didn’t take long for your grandma to realize why the name sounded so familiar, realizing this boy was from the rich family that had just moved into the neighbourhood barely a month ago.
“You want something to eat?” Lucas considered her offer as seriously as any 8 year old would, glancing between the kitchen to your grandma, before reaching into his pocket and being only met with fabric, frowning upon realizing he hadn’t brought money with him.
Shaking his head in reply, rather sadly at that, he told your grandma, “I don’t have any money with me....”
She had simply laughed in reply, shaking her head, “Oh, that won’t be necessary, Xuxi. You can have it for free.”
His eyes widened in delight, smiling at her appreciatively.
She’d brought a small bowl of her dumpling soup noodles back to where the boy sat. Watching with a motherly smile on her face as he took his first sip of the soup, his eyes widening.
“Aunty...I love you,” your grandma guffawed, reaching out a hand to pat the boy’s head endearingly.
Lucas’ eyes widened in realization, “you know...” he leaned closer to your grandma with the intention to divulge a big secret, his eyes widening the closer he got to her, his voice lowering to a whisper. “A girl in my class gave me a dumpling that tastes just like this!”
Your grandma tilted her head at him, having a feeling she knew who he was talking about. “And what might this girl’s name be?”
“Y/N!” he told her with a grin, munching on an amount of noodles that seemed too much for his tiny mouth.
“I’ll tell you a secret,” your grandma leaned closer to his ear, “she’s my granddaughter.”
The noodles threatened to slip out from Lucas’ mouth when he gasped loudly, giggling after as he covered his mouth so his noodles could stay inside.
“What do you think of her?” your grandma asked him, seeing him stare at his noodles with a smile playing at his lips, shrugging repeatedly.
“She’s....cute,” he mumbled, making your grandma laugh.
“I’ll tell you what, whenever you come here you can get a free bowl of noodles,” his eyes widened, nodding profusely till your grandma continued, “on one condition.”
He nodded at her, putting on his best serious-looking face to show her he was ready, “Help me look after Y/N in school,” Lucas figured at that time that this was a simple request, bringing his hand up in a salute position.
“Will do, aunty!”
===
Now, 18 year old Lucas had developed his ‘efficient fool-proof system’ to do small things that would make things easier for you without you knowing.
For instance, using his good rapport with the market vendors to make sure you would already have the freshest possible selection for the noodle shop, to even silently going out of his way to make sure nobody in school gave you trouble for your background ( which meant that he would personally pay for your new set of uniform every school year, passing it to Sicheng and instructing him to tell you it was given by the school )
“You look lovely, dear,” your gaze fluttered to the figure standing at the doorway, which was none other than your grandmother, dressed in shoddy clothes and an old apron, what you recognized to be her work clothes.
Your family wasn’t well off ( well by family, you meant your grandma and yourself since it's been that way since you could remember ), you barely scraped by off of the profits your grandma made from her noodle shop that you occasionally helped out with, but you still received supplies from the school.
Such as the uniform you were wearing now. Ironed crisp and clean, you passed off as any other average student in your school. You were thankful your school decided to implement uniforms earlier than other schools, since you really didn't think your normal clothes could compare to the other girls in your school, not wanting a repeat of the episode you experienced in the past.
You picked up your school bag from where it was on the bed, walking over to kiss your mother on the cheek, “bye mama, I’ll be home by 6.”
Your grandma waved her hand at you in dismissal, clucking her tongue at you disapprovingly, “It’s okay, it’s okay! Take your time. Have a good day at school!”
You picked up the pace as you walked, eager to avoid bumping into Sicheng and his friends, especially not at this time of the morning. But you seemed to have spoken too soon, hearing the familiar sound of bicycle wheels whirring and boyish shouting.
They would call you with a teasing tone, making you wince, avoiding eye contact with them until one of them wheeled their bicycles in front of you, stopping your path.
“What do you want, Sicheng,” You huffed, staring up at him impatiently.
The boy scrunched up his nose as he shot you a mischievous smile, “is it such a crime that i wanted to say good morning to you?” his words were all meshed together in a combined mumble, a habit of Sicheng's ever since he was young, but the black haired boy never seemed to care too much about it- since after all, to him it didn't make a difference as long as you understood him.
“Yeah, okay fine, good morning. Now would you please get out of my way so I can go to school?” Believe you, you loved Sicheng, but sometimes you really did miss your quiet walks to school to enjoy the scenery at your own pace.
“C’mon, your grandma wouldn’t be happy if I just let you walk even though I have a bike, let me give you a ride.”
You knew this could go either of two ways. Either you stand firm and have a long battle with Sicheng to let you walk to school on your own, or you suck it up and let him give you a ride to school.
The ride to school would have seemed harmless to anyone else, since Sicheng was a friend of yours for as long as you could remember, but it was just that you would rather not hang out with him while he was with his friends, since they didn't exactly have the best reputation in school.
You did a once-over at his friends that were with him currently, a senior named Ten with short choppy black hair and many piercings (and very expensive shoes, you noted), and a boy your age that went by the name of Lucas. Although you could talk and joke around with Ten one-to-one, you don’t think you’ve ever had a proper sentence spoken to you by Lucas before.
The boy was all expensive sneakers, sports brand bags, the latest music tapes that were extremely hard to get if you didn't save up. He lived pretty near you, so you would usually walk past his giant- at least compared to yours -house whenever you were on your way to the market, sometimes even catching a glimpse of his mother leaving the house to go to work on rare days when the car was parked in the house. It was almost as if the placement of his house was just a daily reminder for you that you were both from different worlds.
Sure there were times you would think was cute, and you may have given him your last dumpling when you were younger as an unspoken love offering, but as you grew older, you felt like maybe you and Lucas just shouldn't, and wouldn't happen. After all, you figured your heart was too weak to get put up for rejection.
You were pulled from your thoughts when you saw Sicheng snapping his fingers in front of your face, snatching your gaze from Lucas.
"So...?" he raised an eyebrow.
“Alright, but don’t drive too fast,” you told Sicheng, hurling yourself onto the back of his bicycle with your back facing his, making sure your skirt was covering whatever it needed to cover, grabbing on tighter to the seat when the abrupt start of the bicycle moving almost made you lose your balance.
Ten had gone ahead and rode his bicycle faster than Sicheng, which had only meant Lucas was directly in your view. He pedalled effortlessly, his gaze on you intent, as if he had wanted to say something, but decided against it in the end. You had almost let yourself get carried away watching how he would do things with a certain amount of charisma that you found almost difficult not to look at, even the small smirk he gave you when he caught you staring at him left you breathless.
“Don’t flirt with Lucas behind my back, okay.” Sicheng sing-songed, earning a hearty eye-roll from you, your eyes darting nervously to look at Lucas for a reaction but strangely he had seemed absolutely unaffected. Instead, he simply huffed and pedalled faster, overtaking Sicheng and maintaining his pace there.
You felt almost hurt at this unspoken rejection, not knowing how to come back from the incident, tried your best to push any kind of curious thought you had about Lucas away from your head during the ride.
What was so special about him anyway? you huffed at the thought. Other than the fact that he was the son of a prestigious lawyer and company owner, and that he was the star of the school's basketball team, there wasn't much else for you to work with when it came to unraveling who exactly Lucas Wong was. ( well other than the occasional rumour that he was in a gang and got into fights frequently )
Though Sicheng was your closest friend, you had never spoken to him on the topic of Lucas any further than simple things like how well he played at a game or how nice his hair looked that day. There were rumours floating around that his family situation was rough, but you knew it wasn't your place to ask.
Little did you know, Sicheng wasn't as well informed about it as you thought he was; only aware of the fact that Lucas would leave home occasionally, and skip school a few days after.
"Hey! Wait up! Oh-I guess he isn't gonna wait up after all," you peeped your head around to see Lucas having disappeared from sight.
"Let me know if you see him at class today, yeah? God, it's the first day of the school year; he can't possibly be skipping already," Sicheng huffed with the tone of a worried mother, but instead of laughing, you couldn't help but sympathise with him, wincing slightly out of pity.
You shrugged your shoulders, your hands still gripping the seat of the bicycle, "to be honest, I just wouldn't care if I were you, I mean, what's the point if he's not gonna listen anyway? I wouldn't be surprised if he gets kicked out of his house again, he's asking for it with those bad grades he brings home all the time," you were taken aback by the sharp thump on your head you received from Sicheng after that statement.
"Don't ever say that again. I'll tell you this once and I won't say it again, Y/N. Sometimes for Lucas, just a little care is all he's asking for."
===
"Class, please look at the notice board in front of the class for your new seating arrangement," your class representative had announced amidst the sound of reunions and loud chatter before the teacher arrived.
Making a beeline for the notice board, you analysed the seating plan as you munched on the dumplings your grandma had packed for you for breakfast, your index finger finally landing on your name on the square at the corner of the room, looking at the squares to your seat’s perimeter, you noticed that the table behind you, at the very back corner of the class next to the window belonged to the very boy you were hoping you wouldn't need to be in such close contact with, Lucas. The sound of the girls at the table near you chatting animatedly suddenly becoming deafening.
"Did you hear? Lucas Wong rejected Hana from year 3's confession? She looked so afraid I almost felt bad for the poor girl!" you heard one of them lament, and you made to walk past them as slow as you could so you could hear more.
"When did she do it?"
"This morning!" you tuned out the rest of the conversation, figuring this was just another reason to add to your list of reasons 'why you shouldn't go after Lucas Wong'.
You figured if you wanted to continue to lay low in school, you would stick to admiring him from afar, instead of putting yourself up to get hurt like that. There were only a few ways to look at Lucas for people in your school: you either didn't want to get involved with him, were scared of him or you liked him ( sometimes all three for people in situations like yours )
You reassured yourself that seeing Lucas wouldn't be a problem if you just didn't try to cross paths with him, until you looked for your seat and realised that there was Lucas seated at the desk behind yours. His long legs stretched out on your chair, hoodie-covered head leaning against the windowsill, eyes closed peacefully with earpiece plugged into his ears.
Your hands unconsciously clenched harder on the dumplings, anxiously contemplating finding another chair since yours was currently being used as a leg rest, but you couldn't see a free chair in sight, eventually deciding to munch on the dumpling you had, in the hopes that it would give you strength for what you were about to do.
Just as you were going closer to Lucas, he was already very aware of your presence next to him, the dumpling you were eating awakening his senses to the very first time he ate that same dumpling. His stomach growling softly, making him flush in embarrassment with his eyes still closed.
Your gentle fingers prodded at his shoulder lightly, and you had to remind yourself to keep chewing as you saw the way his eyelids fluttered open and his gaze landed on you. Shifting his upper body slightly to face you, Lucas lifted a hand to remove the earpieces from his ears, giving u an expectant look.
"Uh...sorry, I know you were sleeping and all but uh..I kind of...you know, need my chair," you pointed at the chair his legs were currently resting on, "and there's no extra chair here so uh...yeah if you could just...you know, give it back?"
Lucas looked at you with a curious expression, setting his earpiece down on the table, and you found yourself almost afraid to make eye contact with him, lest your face turn red from the attention he was giving you.
"What do I get in return?" his voice shocked you, seeing as you've never heard it in a while, you never noticed it could get this deep.
"Uh...what do you want? I'm not sure if I can get you those branded stuff, then again you probably have them already-"
His gaze flickered between you and the item of food you were holding in your hands, "I want the dumpling," he spoke.
You cocked an eyebrow at his unexpected request.
"This? You want this dumpling? Are you sure? You've probably tasted a lot better.."
He shot you a smirk, tilting his head at you, "I said I want the dumpling, not your house. You don't have to fight me." He held out his hand expectantly, making you reach out hesitantly before finally placing the small plastic bag onto his hand with a shaky breath leaving your lips, seeing him shoot you a smile and use his free hand to pat your head twice.
"Good girl," he lifted his legs off the chair with a thud that seemed both harsh yet dramatic, "the chair's yours."
You turned around and hauled the chair back to your seat, all sorts of confusion washing over you from that interaction, completely oblivious to the stares your classmates were giving the both of you. God help you if you wanted to get through this year sane.

“Y/N, I packed an extra breakfast, pass it to cheng cheng for me would you? His mother is out of town so he doesn’t have lunch.” You hummed as you packed the blue lunchbox with white flower patterns on it into your bag, though you knew for a fact that Sicheng had no problem with his mom not cooking lunch for him, since it gave him an excuse to loiter out later with Lucas and Ten.
You proceeded to school as per normal, handing Sicheng’s lunch to him when you passed by his class in the morning, assuming it was very much enjoyed by him judging from how the lunchbox would come back to you practically clean at the end of the day.
You noticed that Lucas was coming to school more often, tending to see him hanging around with Sicheng. But you weren’t sure for exactly what since you were on a short school break now, and the only reason you went to school was because you had to prepare for the sports fest as part of class committee.
After which, you would usually wait for Sicheng to be done with soccer practice before you two would go home together. So there was your routine for your break thus far, and now, on an absolutely blistering Tuesday afternoon, you found yourself sat in the spectating area overlooking the soccer field, using your textbook to shelter your head from the heat.
You contemplated filling your water bottle since you were thirsty and well, had nothing else better to do, but figured stealing from Sicheng would be a lot more convenient. Making your way down the bleachers carefully, you straightened out your messy skirt, smoothing out the creases that had formed after sitting for so long.
Quickly locating Sicheng’s bag from the messy scrawl of his name in white marker on the bag strap, you shuffled around in it and was about to take the water bottle from his backpack, until you realised there was something missing from the bag; your extra lunchbox.
You found it a little strange, not knowing why Sicheng would have misplaced your lunchbox like that, about to turn around and pull him out of practice to give him an earful about it before you saw Lucas jogging towards you, standing abruptly still upon spotting you, his hands behind his back and his gaze looking elsewhere as he quickly made a sharp turn, walking away from your direction.
Your eyebrows furrowed in confusion, completely forgetting that you were thirsty since Lucas had definitely seemed as though he was going to go towards your direction before he'd seen you, so you decided you would carry out a little experiment.
Stepping away from Sicheng's bag carefully, making as if to walk to the water cooler, you'd hid behind a pillar where you would be blocked from Lucas' gaze, watching said boy indeed making his way back to the bleachers carefully, his long legs stumbling and stretching over the bags to bend down to Sicheng's bag, finally pulling out what he was holding behind his back, your gaze practically burning holes into the lunchbox as you watched him shove it back into Sicheng's bag quickly.
Sicheng was going to have to answer to this.
After practice, you bounded down the spectator stand, standing with your hands on your hips next to Sicheng, a deep frown on your face.
“What’s got you looking so ugly?” He smirked, using his knuckle to nudge your head lightly, flicking his hair away from his face as he reached over to pick up his bag and sling it over his shoulder.
“Dong Sicheng, you’d better get some answers ready.”
===
“Alright,” you began just as you both turned onto the road of your neighbourhood, the clicking of his bicycle almost unnoticeable from how long you both had been walking, “have you been eating my grandma's lunch boxes?”
Sicheng shot you a look of disbelief, his sudden slip of his hand on his bicycle giving away that you had caught him off guard, though he straightened up quickly, replying ever so stoically.
“Yeah, of course, I mean, they come back to you empty don’t they?”
“Oh yeah, they do. D’you remember what she made for you yesterday?” Sicheng's eyes darted in so many directions within a span of a few seconds. Praying to God that what he would guess would actually be correct.
“Noodles with soup?” you frowned at him, earning a sigh from Sicheng, knowing he had trapped himself then and there.
“You’ve been giving them to Lucas, haven’t you?” you accused, like a parent who had found their child doing something they weren't supposed to behind their back.
You held the silence, watching Sicheng squirm visibly before he gave in.
“Okay, fine! I did. But what’s so bad about that?!”
“God, Sicheng, he’s rich! Why can’t he get his own lunch? Why does he have to eat yours! What have you been eating for lunch then?”
Sicheng sighed, “Look, he doesn’t get lunch either, alright? And I mean, isn’t it good that he loves your grandma's cooking so much? What’s with you and always thinking people have bad intentions?” He told you, disbelief laced in his tone.
Ignoring his last question, you scoffed at him, “that wasn’t my grandma's cooking, Cheng, it was mine. Mama told me to start making them on my own because the restaurant needed to open earlier and she couldn’t get enough sleep so I did it instead. All those extra dumplings ‘you’ asked for? All me.”
“Oh,” Sicheng murmured, making you groan loudly, “Lucas doesn’t even acknowledge my presence on a daily basis, and I’ve been making lunch for him for two weeks now? You’ve gotta be kidding me, Sicheng.”
“Okay, Y/N, I’m sorry. But there wasn’t much I could do, he looked really happy eating it. It's the first proper meal he’s had in ages.”
“He should pay me.”
Sicheng shot you a pleading look, “can’t it be service for a friend?”
You glared at him, “No. He’s not my friend, he’s your friend.”
“And any friend of mine is a friend of yours, am I right?” he smiled at you sheepishly, flinching slightly when you snapped at him.
“Cut the crap, Cheng. If he wants more noodles, he can come to the store and pay for them himself.”

“Hey, Y/N, can you stay back to finish up the boards for next week? we sort of need them by the end of this week” you were stuck in the dusty classroom trying to design, draw and colour the signboards for the sports fest, only halfway done when you heard a knock at the door, from the class representative informing you she was about to lock the classroom so you had better find another place to do the signboards and hold the flyers.
You complied, albeit reluctantly, stacking the boards and boxes of flyers ( which were atrociously heavy you may add ) until they piled up so high you couldn’t see the stairs as you were heading down them.
Hoping to God you wouldn’t bump into anything, you slowly made your way down, but soon you heard the loud thundering of running on the steps.
“You’d better run!” you heard a boy shout before something hard smacked into you from behind, causing you to lose your balance, sending you falling down the stairs with a yelp.
You tried to break your fall but were too late, your wrist coming into contact with the floor and feeling as though you had just had it run over by a car, the boxes and boards strewn about around you. Hearing light footsteps in a run, you felt a hand on both your shoulders, looking up to see Lucas in his sports attire, his hair messy and slightly damp with sweat, looking at you with concern, before turning to the direction of the people that had bumped into you, shouting what would have sounded like a threat if you weren't too focused on the pain in your wrist to pay attention.
“Are you okay? Are you hurt anywhere?” you tried to recover from the shock that he was actually talking to you before replying him,
“I hope not, I mean, I think I’m okay? My wrist really hurts though, I feel like it's broken.”
He made a grim face, “come with me,” he easily helped you up.
“Can you walk?”
You nodded in reply, watching him scoop up the boards and carry the boxes along with an ease you were almost envious of.
You let him lead you to the school nurse's office, though you were still a bit tense regarding the whole lunchbox exchange you had with Sicheng earlier that day. You found that Lucas was very familiar with the nurse from always faking sick to get out of school.
“Hey doc, she fell down the stairs, can you check if her wrist is messed up?”
“It feels like it’s broken,” the nurse smiled, letting a small laugh escape her lips.
“For the last time, I’m not a doctor, Lucas. And it’s not broken, honey. Looks like you’ve just sprained it. You might find it a little difficult to write or do things with your hand the next few days, so just be careful, hmm?” she scribbled something down on the paper attached to her clipboard, noticing the way Lucas stared at her and nodded intently with a pensive look on his face as if she was giving him life advice, almost making you smile.
But that moment was short-lived when your gaze shifted to the incomplete signboards you were supposed to send for approval the next day, not knowing how you were going to complete all of that in time with your bad wrist.
The nurse kindly wrapped your wrist, and once you were done you noticed the sun was already setting, making you sigh once again. You weren't even able to push your worry aside to have enough time to refuse Lucas' help to bring the flyers and banners to your house, being an unspoken agreement.
You found yourself almost nervous during the walk home, afraid things would get awkward again given Lucas' non-existent urge to talk to you on the daily. But what had happened instead gave you a surprise, and a rather pleasant one at that.
“Are these the signboards for the sports meet thing?” you nodded with a hum of confirmation.
“I have no idea how I’m gonna finish them by tomorrow with my wrist like this..” you lamented, kicking at the ground as you walked.
He bit his lip, cutting in quickly before you could continue, “I can help you...and stuff. I have nothing on tonight...and it's not like you can do everything yourself with that wrist and all....” Lucas offered, his lips pressing into a thin line as he looked away from you to try to calm his heart which was racing so much.
“Are you sure? It’s not exactly the fun-est thing in the world..”
“No, really it’s fine, I want to,” he dismissed you, making you scrunch your nose up in distaste but agreeing anyway, not in any position to refuse.
===
“My grandma's still at work, so is it alright with you if I just heat up something from the fridge?”
He nodded profusely, setting the materials down with a rather loud thump on top of your dining table, “yeah, that’s fine by me. If you need help just tell me, alright? I’ll just get started on the boards first.”
You decided to take a quick shower first, undoing the wrap around your wrist so it wouldn’t get wet, after which, you changed into your more presentable pyjamas since Lucas was over, you quickly went to the kitchen and looked in the fridge to see if there was any leftover noodles.
Doing your best to heat it up and pour it into a nicer-looking bowl with your bad wrist, you slowly carried the bowls one by one to the living room, seeing his head shoot up at the smell wafting in from the kitchen. It was safe to say you wanted to present the best you could to him, not wanting him to think lowly of you or anything.
“Oh my God.” His mouth dropped open at the sight of the food before turning into a big smile, staring intently at the bowls before glancing at you, his gaze moving to your wrist and realising it was unwrapped.
The smile disappeared from his face, being replaced with a slight frown, letting out a little upset sound, a ‘tsk-tsk’ leaving his lips, he grabbed the bandage he saw lying on the table, “come here, sit down,” he instructed you.
You nervously watched as his big hands carefully wrapped your wrist just like how the nurse did, delicately but firmly, seeing how careful he was in tucking the ends into the bandage.
Letting a small smile of satisfaction appear on his face after he was done, “there, better?” he looked to you for affirmation, and you finally looked up from your wrist to make eye contact with him, seeming awfully similar to a little boy with that expression as you gave him a smile in return, nodding.
“Much better, thank you.”
You pushed the bowl towards him on the table, a little part of you feeling happy at how his smile grew bigger at the gesture.
“Thank you,” he murmured with a gentleness unlike anything you’ve seen before when it came to Lucas. Usually when one thinks of Lucas they would think of rowdiness, or big, rough actions, nothing like the Lucas you were currently witnessing for yourself.
“You really like the noodles, don’t you?” he looked at you mid scoffing down the food upon hearing your voice, making you let out a giggle.
Slurping the rest of his mouthful, a shy smile graced his face he nodded at you. “It tastes really...nostalgic.”
“How so?” you asked, curiosity taking over you.
“I uh..it’s a funny story actually, but...maybe for next time.” you hummed, nodding because you didn’t want to push him to do something out of his comfort zone.
After you ate, he had insisted on helping you to wash the dishes, claiming you had to let your hand rest.
"I noticed you've been coming to school more recently," you murmured casually, standing next to where he stood at the sink washing your dishes, seeing Lucas turn his head to look at you with a smirk.
"Well someone's pretty observant," he teased, a giggle leaving his lips as he looked back at the soapy dishes.
“What made you want to come?” you asked him, watching him pause his scrubbing at the dishes.
Lucas hummed in thought, pursing his lips before giving you a shrug, "Just, felt like it I guess."
“So...you didn't come to school before because you didn't feel like it?” you helped to put the dishes aside as he washed his hands, wiping them on his uniform as he let a small huff of half-hearted laughter leave his lips.
"Guess you could say that," he murmured.
“Weren’t you scared?”
Lucas turned to look at you with an eyebrow raised, “Of what?”
You frowned in confusion, “you know, don’t the teachers give you shit for not coming to school?”
He shook his head, walking back with you to your small dining table where the banners and posters were laid out. “They don’t really care anymore. But I’m planning on making a change this year!” he grinned at you, making you raise your eyebrows skeptically.
“You serious about that?” slightly surprised at his determination.
He nodded. “The serious-est.”
You let the conversation topic drop, with him taking a seat next to where you sat at the table and picked up on where he left off on the board, and you made yourself useful by doing whatever you could with your left hand, as well as telling him your ideas for the layout of the signboard and how you wanted to use the various materials. Though after a while Lucas had noticed you kept forgetting your wrist was injured and trying to help him cut things, nagging you for still trying to work when you should have been resting according to him.
“Lucas seriously, just let me help,” you insisted, a small pout on your lips.
“You can help me by resting,” he remained stubborn as ever, eventually leaving you to sit there and watch him.
You were surprised at how quickly he finished up the boards, just in time for when your grandma came home.
“Y/N! I’m back,” she called out, and you heard her soft shuffling get louder as she got closer to the dining table.
“Mama, I have a guest over,” you called out, hearing her squeal, practically running over to your room, her eyes lighting up when she saw Lucas.
“Xuxi?” You swore you'd never seen such a soft look in Lucas’ eyes before, seeing him get up to hug your grandma as if they’d known each other forever. “You’re so big now! I haven't seen you in so long,” she frowned playfully, making you even more confused.
“Do I wanna ask why?” you muttered, seeing Lucas’ cheeks tint pink in embarrassment, stepping back from your grandma and picking up his bag.
He brought a hand up to the side of his mouth in an action as if to whisper to you, mouthing a 'next time' to you with a soft smile,
“I hope Y/N has been good to you while you were here,” she looked at you pointedly, making you huff in exaggerated offence.
Lucas was quick to reply, shaking his head in dismissal, “oh, no it’s fine, I brought her home because she fell down the stairs in school, kind of messed up her wrist,” he gestured to his own wrist as he spoke, and your grandma's eyebrows knitted in concern.
“Oh gosh, sorry, she’s a clumsy one," she laughed, her hand reaching out to hold Lucas' hand in a rather delicate way, leaning in to whisper something to him you couldn't quite catch. You were beginning to feel as though you were the outsider here.
“Mama,” you whined, seeing the tiny crow’s feet beside her eyes appear as she laughed, shaking her head at you.
“You’d better be getting home, love, it’s getting late,” her tone was gentle as she spoke to him, and he nodded, bidding her goodbye before she left the room.
Lucas turned to face you, and you stood up, taking a step toward him, “I’ll be...heading off now,” he sounded almost breathless. “Rest your wrist, okay? see you,” he smiled at you, waving goodbye before he turned to leave.
You hadn't noticed you called him until he turned around, looking at you expectantly with his eyebrows raised, making you flush when your voice had sounded softer than you intended it to.
"Thanks, by the way, for helping me with the banners....I couldn't have finished it tonight without your help," you pressed your lips together in a tight-lipped smile, your hand reaching up to play with the lobe of your ear.
Stepping forward so he wasn't so far from you, he shook his head, "I'm glad I could help."
You felt for the first time as if you were watching yourself from a third person’s perspective, the way the wind suddenly seemed to be blowing at a perfect speed, and the music you could hear wafting outside from your grandma’s radio, to the way the streetlamp outside your house was casting the perfect shadow on Lucas’ face, right down to the way he smiled at you as if you were in a scene of a romantic drama ( that you were pretty sure if you were watching with Sicheng this would be the part you both start hitting each other excitedly )
“Goodnight, Y/N.”
You were lost for words, almost breathless at his soft shy smile. “Goodnight, Lucas.”

The next time you had lessons and your wrist was already starting to heal, you braved through the soreness you felt in your wrist and did your best to make lunch for both you and Lucas, even adding a small compartment where you placed a small packet of candy you had in the house.
Wrapping it up nicely, it was safe to say Lucas was shocked when you had handed the lunchbox to him directly, gaze darting between you and the lunchbox as if searching for some sort of affirmation that it belonged to him.
You felt eyes on you from some of your classmates, all eager to see how Lucas would reject you like how he usually did to girls who gave him things like this, but you barely noticed their gasps and murmurs from how happy you were when he took the lunchbox into his large hands, smiling so widely to you his happiness practically radiated from him.
"Consider it...a 'thank you', for helping me the other day," you told him, seeing him nod at you gratefully,
He lifted the lid of the lunchbox slightly, eyes widening when he saw its contents and looking at you with bright eyes, "I really, wow uh, I just, I wasn't expecting this...you made this?" he gestured at the half-opened lunchbox with his index finger.
You nodded in reply, "I've been making almost all of Sicheng’s," you swore you saw his face flush at that, his eyes widening but went back to normal quickly.
"You're really good at it," he said firmly, as if trying to convince you. To which you simply shrugged in reply.
"Wasn't sure why you liked them so much, but it's... all I have to offer, really." You took your seat in front of him, doing your best to suppress your racing heart when he leaned forward, as if he knew your heart was racing and he intentionally wanted to make it worse. ( But little did you know his heart was practically pounding in his chest he almost couldn't concentrate )
"Trust me, it's all I need."
"How are you gonna pass it back to me?" you asked him after class, watching how he slung his bag over his shoulder so smoothly, watching the way his eyebrows would raise as he thought, his lips pushed out resembling a duck.
"I'm working after this, so you can just pass it to Sicheng, he'll hand it over to me," you suggested, not very keen on Lucas seeing the ruckus of the noodle shop during peak hours.
Glancing at your watch, your eyes widened in realisation of the time, "I've gotta get going, bye Lucas!" you waved, seeing him wave back with a smile, his loud "Bye!" making you laugh.
What you didn't notice until now was that Lucas was the kind of person that would seem quiet on the outside, but once he was comfortable enough with you ( which for him, seemed to have happened after you injured your wrist ), he would let his true colours show. For example, especially with regards to Lucas, you tended to hear him before you actually saw him in most situations.
Now when he saw you in school, he would bellow your name from afar before jogging up to you, his hair ruffled and his shirt untucked, tie askew. He was the kind of boy to get through the crowd and go through all the trouble of getting to you for the sake of a 'good morning' greeting, or wanting to walk to class together.
Of course you couldn't refuse, because of how he'd already gone through the trouble of finding you in the crowd, simply choosing to enjoy his company instead of pay any attention to the girls who stared at you with such envy or shock. But you barely paid them many attention, since Lucas himself seemed to command all of your attention whenever he was with you. You couldn’t say you were complaining though, not when he’d been smiling a lot more and looking happier in general.
Your grandma was out of town temporarily, since she had to visit her sick sister. You were currently in the noodle shop on a weekday evening, trying to wait tables as quickly as you could since the dinner crowd was starting to come in.
With your hair pulled back into a ponytail, you wiped the sweat on your brow with your sleeve, trying your best to take orders and make the food at the same time, all the while trying to ignore the soreness you felt in your wrist whenever you carried things on the heavier side. You had just seated a group of middle aged working men who clearly had a few drinks before coming here. They had always given your grandma trouble, so you were praying in your heart that they wouldn’t be as troublesome to deal with today as well.
You had brought their food to their table, the narrow aisle between the tables preventing you from manoeuvring yourself around the table to serve them individually, choosing to stand at the same place and trust that they could pass down their bowls themselves since you knew your wrist wouldn’t be able to take it.
“How have you been? Haven’t seen you helping your grandma out in a while,” the uncle next to where you stood had let his hand linger on your arm, an uncomfortable warmth lingering there as you tried to calm your racing heartbeat.
You hadn't noticed Lucas’ bicycle pulling up next to the store over the loud chatter in the store, as he stepped into the doorway of your humble shop, his eyes practically glaring daggers at the uncle whose hand was starting to creep down your back, resting on your bum as you wriggled in his hold.
The rest of them were busy in their own tipsy state, telling you just how much you’ve grown.
“I have to get back to work-” you felt a presence behind you before the uncle in front of you had his hands roughly taken off you by Lucas.
Lucas pulled you back protectively behind him, “I don’t think that’s very appropriate of you, she’s clearly uncomfortable.”
The men had recognised Lucas to be his mother’s son, looking at him with evident contempt before cursing under their breath and resuming with their meals.
He followed your quick steps into the kitchen as you hurriedly cooked another bowl of noodles.
“Thanks, for that, by the way,” you said in choppy intervals, the steam from the wok giving you a good excuse for the blush creeping onto your cheeks.
“There’s no need to thank me,” he murmured from where he stood in the kitchen, his arms folded over his chest as he leant against the doorframe yet making sure he didn't get in your way.
“What are you doing here?” you looked away from your cooking to stare at his ruffled hair and messy school uniform, and almost lost it at the smile he gave you when you made eye contact with him.
Lucas' hand came up out of habit to cover his mouth, trying to regain his composure before he remembered he wasn't at one of his family dinners with corporate guests and that he could just be himself without you, slowly lowering his hand and letting his smile show.
Lucas gestured to the lunchbox he'd placed on the empty table in the kitchen. “Here to return your lunchbox, remember?” you made an ‘o’ shape with your mouth in realisation, nodding in understanding.
“Is it just you running the store today?” you nodded, seeing him shake his head, not seeming to like the answer you gave him.
“I’ll help you, alright? I’ll wait the tables and seat them and all that stuff, you just focus on cooking here, we’ll get the crowd cleared in no time,” he flashed you another of his optimistic smiles, his hand coming up in a fist to cheer you on before putting on a small apron and carrying the bowls you made to where you told him to bring them to, figuring you weren't in any position to say no to him right now.
And he was right, in no time you were finished tending to the dinner crowd and he had sat himself at the counter as he watched you take a seat next to him, rolling your wrist around slightly in an attempt to soothe it.
“God, that was fast, like really fast, thank you so much. I can’t imagine how much longer I would’ve taken if it weren’t for you helping me,” you told him. Lucas shook his head with a loud sound of dismissal, waving his hand at you, “It’s no problem. How come your grandma's not here?”
“She’s out of town for the month...her sister’s sick so she went to visit her, so I stayed here to take care of the house and the shop and all, since it’s pretty much...all we have," you sighed, refusing to look at him as you anticipated a look of pity or for Lucas to look at you as if you weren't good enough.
“I like it,” you shot him a confused look, and he was prompted to continue, “the shop, I mean. It’s cozy and warm.”
“What are you talking about? We can barely feel the heating in here unless you’re in the kitchen,” you laughed, shoving his shoulder playfully, seeing him shake his head.
“The feeling,” he explained, making you smile at how genuine he sounded.
“Hey, you know, if you could use some help here after school I don’t mind helping you...you know, since your grandma is out and everything..” he trailed off, looking away nervously as he anticipated your answer.
You pretended to contemplate even though you knew what you wanted to say, but then reality hit you again.
“Lucas, you know, as much as I would love some help around here while my grandma is gone, we can’t afford to pay you.”
His answer came back in a heartbeat, looking at you with the most serious expression you’d ever seen from him, “I’ll work here for free.”
You scoffed in shock, not finding it in you to be able to believe him, “What? wha- why would you do that?” you frowned, seeing him shake his head at you, insistent on his proposal.
“I don’t want to work here for the money, I want to work here to help you.”
You felt like all of it was so surreal, even as you outstretched your hand for him jokingly, “well, then you’re hired, Lucas.”
“On one condition, though,” he added quickly before he shook your hand, so it stayed clasped in his, the warmth of his very much bigger hand causing butterflies to flit wildly in your tummy, “call me, Xuxi, it's my actual name, not Lucas.” You smiled, nodding as you shook his hand.
“Sure thing, Xuxi. ” The smile you saw on his face after that was your favourite by far.
===
Before you knew it, seeing Xuxi became a daily thing, you had started to get used to the way he would get flustered when he knocked things over in the kitchen, to the way he did silly dances for you to see from the kitchen when he was wiping up tables and stacking chairs.
The shop had attracted quite a new number of girl students as well, all eager to see Xuxi look charismatic and charming when he was working, but you had to admit you enjoyed seeing the different side of him for yourself when you two were closing up the store or preparing ingredients before it opened.
You absolutely loved how the Xuxi you got to know now was so different from the Lucas you had all thought out in your head. For instance, he would ask for you to teach him how to make the dumpling, then never make it ever again and insist you make it for him, since his ‘didn’t taste the same’. He would walk you home every day, and take you on his bike to school sometimes ( much to Sicheng’s amusement ), as well as drive you to the shop whenever he didn’t have basketball practice.
And with Lucas in the shop, that brought Ten and Sicheng's presence occasionally as well, always teasing you and Xuxi as if you two were a newly married couple that opened up the store, never failing to make Xuxi blush and make you scoff. And you had enjoyed getting to know Ten more, with how he would recommend you new music and lend you his cassette tapes and you would share with each other your reviews on the different artists.
What Sicheng always loved the most from this entire new arrangement was telling you how Xuxi was so excited to work every day that he could, so excited to go to school, a side he’d never seen in Xuxi before, which you would never admit to Sicheng that loved to hear you played a part in.
Out of your own pathetic attempt to keep modest, you would always tell Sicheng to stop making things up, but the boy was just dying to tell you how much Xuxi actually talks about you when he’s with Sicheng and Ten, which of course you didn’t hear because if you did Sicheng would be dead meat.
But you hadn’t known the fact that Xuxi thought you knew this fact all the while, and you only discovered this when you were walking back from the store one night, after he had bought your favourite ice cream for you as a means to celebrate the end of a long day. Enjoying the way everything ( which may or may not include Lucas ) looked and felt warm with the sunset in your line of sight.
“You know, I never would’ve thought you’d be this nice,” you murmured around a mouthful of ice cream.
You heard a gasp on his end, feigning hurt as he placed a large hand against his heart, “I’m hurt,” he laughed.
“For real! I always got scared when I saw you rejecting those girls who would write you love letters and buy you buns from the bakery in school.”
He made a face at that, licking his ice cream before replying you, “That’s because I was never interested, and I figured might as well let them know straight up instead of lead them on.”
“Why not? Some of them were actually really nice, you know?” you wondered out loud, licking a particularly substantial amount of ice cream at one go that it made the roof of your mouth sting, your features scrunching up in a grimace.
He shrugged simply, glancing down at you and smiling at the expression you made from the ice cream, “guess I wasn’t paying too much attention to them.”
“Yeah, cause you were too busy paying attention to my grandma?” you joked, searching his expression for a reaction only for him to remain unfazed.
“Maybe ‘cause she had such a pretty granddaughter,” he said nonchalantly, making you choke on your ice cream, stumbling slightly only for him to reach a hand out to steady you.
“Careful what you say, Xuxi, people might start rumours you like me,” you joked, trying to calm yourself down both from choking and from his words that caused you to choke, turning to frown at him when you heard no answer. Looking at him with your eyebrows raised expectantly, he made no move to act as though you were saying anything he objected to, simply shrugging at you.
"Not something entirely possible if you think about it," he told you, finishing up his ice cream. "I win!" he cheered, pointing at your still half-eaten ice cream, making you roll your eyes with a laugh.
"Doesn't count, I didn't know we were competing," you shoved him playfully, laughter bubbling out of your lips uncontrollably at the way he stumbled back dramatically, using his bike to hold him up.
You were interrupted by his phone ringing, and his expression changed the moment he saw who was calling. “I have to go, I’ll be seeing you soon, then?”
You frowned. “Not tomorrow?” he shook his head,
“I’m pretty packed this week with basketball finals, you can uh...come for my game if you want.” you nodded, bidding him goodnight.
“Goodnight, Y/N,” you chuckled at how cheesy the scene was, feeling once again like this was a scene you would see in those dramas you would watch with Sicheng on his tv, waving him off as he laughed cutely, cycling off home, leaving you smiling like an idiot to yourself.

Lucas returned to his house, only to see his mother exactly how he had a feeling he would find her--in the living room with an almost empty bottle of wine next to her, her glass perched dangerously at the edge of the coffee table she was sitting next to, crying into the empty glass, not even bothering to look up when she heard Lucas enter the house.
She sobbed, grabbing the sleeves of Lucas' shirt when he had crouched down in front of her, the impact causing his bag strap to slide nearer to his neck uncomfortably. His mother had hiccupped, her breathing erratic from how hard she was crying, letting her head slump on his shoulder. The sight being nothing new to Lucas, he carefully nudged the wine glass nearer to the centre of the table, slowly peeling her hands from his sleeves.
"Ma. Hey, listen to me, you need to stop thinking he's still coming back," he looked resolutely into her eyes that resembled his so much, except hers were so filled with pain, whereas Lucas' were just filled with pity at how his father had managed to leave his mother in such a state once again- without even having to be physically there to cause it.
Lucas hadn't seen his father in months, the only sign of his existence being that he would send money to his family at the start of each month, and the action would always leave his mother at a loss, since he knew he spent each month hoping that the start of the next month would be greeted with his person instead of just his money.
"You don't understand, Lucas. He told me he was coming back," she cried, hot tears streaming down her face quickly, making anger bubble in Lucas, spilling out before he could control it.
"Yeah, when? That was months ago," he told her, making her frown at him.
"Don't say that. He loves me, he wouldn't do this to me."
"Don't say what, ma? I'm telling you the truth! He's left and he doesn't plan on coming back anytime soon, it’s not like he’s contacted you ever since he left," he told her, his voice raising in an attempt to get his words in her head more.
"Don't raise your voice at me!" she stood up, abruptly, albeit a little unstable, judging from how she leaned on the armrest of the sofa for support.
"You can't keep waiting for him, you know. You're going to reach your limit at one point," he told her, desperately wanting to get through to her and put an end to both their suffering.
"You," she pointed a finger at him condescendingly at him, prodding at his chest roughly, "don't get to decide my limits for me. I need him to come back, he's all I have." Lucas’ mouth shut at that, he knew his mother’s first priority was his father, but she had never said anything like this to Lucas before. And now that he had heard it, it hurt him more than anything.
"So I’m just nothing, then? Just someone to clean up your shit every time you get drunk and you act like a goddamned child?" Lucas was blinded by his hurt now, his words escaping him faster than he could process them, "please, if he loved you so much he wouldn't have left in the first place."
Lucas's mother was absolutely furious, not knowing how to retaliate, so she did what she always did. Looking for the nearest moveable object near her, which just so happened to be the empty wine bottle, she hurled it towards her son, Lucas having to bring his arms up to try and block it as she looked for more things to throw at him, seemingly directing her anger towards her husband to her only son.
"Ma, stop it!" Lucas' shouts went unnoticed, his mother picking up a pillow to hurl it at him roughly, his mother chucking the wine glass at Lucas, which had happened to shatter on the wall where he was standing next to, the glass pieces shattering and nicking Lucas on the face slightly. Only upon the sight of blood on her son’s face did Lucas’ mother realize what she had done, already feeling absolutely horrible about it.
Her grip on the item she was holding loosened, letting it fall with a soft thump onto the cushion of the sofa. Lucas’ eyes widened, his hand coming up to touch his cheek and wince at the sight of the red on his fingers when he pulled his hand away from his face.
“Honey-” Lucas held a hand up, flinching slightly when his mother tried to take a step towards him, taking steps away from her as he felt himself shaking from sheer anger and hurt.
He didn’t want to fight with her, that was the last thing he wanted, yet it seemed to be the only thing he got nowadays.
Shrugging his bag onto his shoulder, he left the house as quickly as he could, not bothering to close the door gently in his hurry to leave. He made his way to Ten’s house, who simply greeted him with a sad smile and let him in, no questions asked, when he saw Lucas at his doorstep, face cut and chest heaving from the angry tears he was shedding.
===
You weren’t surprised when you hadn’t seen Lucas show up to school the next day, not daring to ask any questions when Sicheng showed up at your doorstep to send you to school with a very tired-looking Ten.
You had no means of contacting Lucas, only hoping that he would decide to come to the noodle shop or even to basketball practice so you could talk to him, but even that didn’t happen.
Sicheng noticed the slight dulling of your mood after a few days had passed and Lucas still hadn’t shown up to school, trying to make you feel better by telling you he was okay.
“That’s not the point, Sicheng, I want to actually see for myself that he’s okay. I thought he was actually getting back on track, you know?” Sicheng nodded, understanding where you were coming from but not knowing how to comfort you.
Ten had told him prior to that day that Lucas absolutely refused to talk about what had happened, choosing to simply coop himself up in Ten’s guest room all day, only ever coming out to eat and even then it didn’t look like he was enjoying himself very much. Which of course was an abnormality in Lucas’ case.
What Ten wasn’t aware of was that when Lucas had returned to the house the day after the incident, he’d found a note his mother left for him, saying she was going to look for his father, and that she wouldn’t come back unless she was coming back with him. The last sentence of the letter not even a small ‘I love you’ but instead a reassurance that she would send him allowance every month.
Lucas figured he needed time to cool off and figure out what he was going to do now before he could even go back to see you- despite desperately wanting to do so. But he didn’t want to see you like this, not when he was preoccupied with all his thoughts you knew nothing about.
“I know,” Sicheng murmured, turning to you with a tight-lipped expression. “Just give him some time, he’ll be back in time for the game, then you can have a proper talk with him or whatever,” Sicheng sighed, standing up and offering you a hand to help you up.
“How about some ice cream?”
===
The day of the sports meet had arrived, the basketball nationals being the highlight of the day, and almost your entire school had gathered at the spectator stands to watch the game. With Sicheng next to you, you saw the home team arriving in the court, a small part of you relieved when you saw Xuxi on the court, next to Ten, looking perfectly fine and happy.
So you went through the game doing whatever you figured a supporter should do, raise your giant banner with Sicheng and cheer for your school’s team, especially when Xuxi or Ten would make a particularly impressive pass or score.
Thankfully, they had won, so you figured their spirits were still high by the time they finished their team debrief and were dismissed. You were standing outside the room waiting for Xuxi and Ten with Sicheng. You looked up expectantly when you heard the double doors of the school entrance open, only to huff in disappointment when you realized it was just another one of Xuxi’s teammates, Kun.
You kicked at the ground absentmindedly before you felt Sicheng start to nudge you, his nudging growing more rapid as the seconds passed, making you look up at him with an annoyed expression.
“What?” you asked, seeing his face scrunch up, trying his best to gesture to your opposite direction with his eyes without making it to obvious.
“Hey,” you turned to the direction of the voice only to see that it was Kun, looking at you with a soft smile, his hand gripping the strap of the duffel bag he had slung across his chest. Sicheng looked away so his staring wouldn’t make Kun uncomfortable, though he was intently listening to your conversation with Kun.
“Y/N, right?” you nodded. “Uh...I wanted to thank you for coming to the game,” he smiled sweetly at you, his voice matching his expression.
You shook your head in dismissal, “Oh, it’s nothing, really. I mean, Ten and Xu- I mean Lucas, are my friends too so I just, you know…thought I should support them.” You saw him nod in understanding, glancing up at you again, looking almost nervous.
“I was actually wondering if you would like to go watch a movie with me one of these days? It’ll be my treat, I kind of want to get to know you better....I mean, you don’t have to say yes but it’d be nice...if you did.”
Sicheng let out a small snort, making you kick his leg firmly, all the while still smiling at Kun.
I mean, it wasn’t as if you didn’t like the idea of a date with Kun, you just...would prefer if it was a date with Xuxi, to put things simply.
“Would you let me have some time to think about it? Can I let you know by like…next week?” you asked, seeing him nod at you, that same sweet smile appearing on his face.
“Of course, no problem, have a goodnight,” he smiled at you, Sicheng taking that as his queue to turn back around and exchanged a nod with Kun as a goodbye, practically bursting into laughter when Kun was out of sight.
“Poor Kun, doesn’t know he’s gonna be waiting the whole weekend for a rejection,” he snickered, making you roll your eyes, shoving him as you saw the double doors open again and Ten and Lucas walk out, laughing about something while looking for you and Sicheng in the area.
“Okay, shut up, no more talk about this or Ten will mock both Kun and me,” you shoved him, your glare softening and a small smile appearing on your face when you saw Xuxi.
He smiled widely, waving at you and Sicheng, the both of you making your way over to them and walking out of the school grounds together.
You walked in pairs, Ten and Sicheng walking in front on purpose so you and Xuxi would have to walk next to each other.
“You played really well, today,” you told him as a passing comment, seeing him let out a shy laugh, muttering a small ‘thank you’ to you.
“Have you eaten dinner yet?” he asked you, you shook your head in reply.
“Not yet, I was kind of just feeling like some ice cream.”
His smile brightened at that, nodding at you eagerly, “Me too!”
He bent down, half leaning towards you to whisper, “should we ditch them?” he used a finger to gesture to the pair walking in front of you, watching you give him a hesitant look.
He shot you a pleading look, his eyes closed and his palms together in front of him, rubbing them together in a begging action, making you smack him on the shoulder, covering your mouth in a poor attempt to stifle your laugh.
Ten and Sicheng already having anticipated your next sentence with all the giggling they were hearing behind them.
“Hey, uh guys, me and Y/N are gonna detour and get some ice cream. Catch you guys next week?”
Not without shooting each other a knowing look, Ten and Sicheng pretended to be upset before waving the both of you off quickly, wanting this to happen more than anybody.
You walked with Xuxi in the silence to the small convenience stand, Xuxi paying for the ice cream, and you ripped open the packet quickly, walking with him back in the direction of your neighbourhood.
“Thanks for paying for the ice cream,” you said, a little belatedly, making him huff in amusement, using his free hand to ruffle your hair in reply, the action making you blush unexpectedly.
Xuxi started to walk towards the direction of the small playground you were nearing, the both of you silently taking a seat on either of the two swings, Xuxi ditching his bag on the ground to sit comfortably.
“Are you okay?” you asked, chewing on the small bit of your ice cream you’d bitten off by accident, “you were gone for really long.”
Xuxi scoffed teasingly, “I was gone for like 5 days.”
“Well it was long for me, okay,” you huffed, “It was weird...going from seeing you every day to not seeing you suddenly.”
Xuxi bit his lip, licking the ice cream that had gotten on his lips as he turned his head to glance at you, his legs pushing the ground gently to swing himself lightly.
“My mom left,” he murmured. Abruptly raising his hand for his palm to face you, “And before you start feeling stressed ‘cause you don’t know what to say and all that, I’m alright if you don’t know what to say. I mean, neither did I, I spent 4 days not knowing what to even feel about it.”
You ate your ice cream quietly as he spoke, processing what Xuxi was trying to tell you. A small part of you understanding a little bit of how lonely he may have felt since you had found yourself in a somewhat similar situation when you were young.
“She told me she wasn’t coming back until my dad comes back with her, so...I took that as a ‘I’m not coming back at all’,” he used his fingers to make air quotes, shrugging afterward as he took a bite from his popsicle, “but I’ll live, I guess....I have to.”
“That’s really strong of you, Xuxi,” you murmured, seeing him turn to you, expression blank before he smiled softly.
“I have you by my side, so I’ll make it through this no matter what,” he grinned, turning his attention back to his ice cream.
“I’ll hold you to that,” you joked, suddenly thinking of Kun’s proposal just now after the basketball game, debating on whether to tell Xuxi but something inside you ( that strangely sounded like Sicheng ) was telling you to just do it.
“Kunaskedmeout,” you blurted, seeing him turn to you with a raised eyebrow, a small hum of confusion leaving his lips.
“Kun, he...asked if I wanted to go watch a movie with him when I was waiting for you and Ten to come out just now,” you told him, gauging his expression carefully as you told him, “I mean, at first I was kind of hesitant because I was kind of worried about how I would pay for the movie ticket but then he said he was paying and all so...I guess it’s not so bad?”
Tell me not to go. Your eyes pleaded, watching intently at the way he took his time to nibble on the last bits of his ice cream, holding up a hand as if telling you to wait as he stood up from the swing, taking your empty ice cream wrapper to dispose of them together, returning to you with a serious expression on his face. Stopping in front of where you were sitting, he leaned down so his head was level with yours, eyes narrowing at you, before straightening up.
“Don’t go.” he told you casually, sitting back down on the swing.
Your mouth gaped, unsure of what to make of his reaction. You looked at him with furrowed eyebrows, pursing your lips before speaking.
“You don’t think I should go?”
He looked at you with a blank expression, shrugging nonchalantly, “you shouldn’t go if you don’t want to,” he reminded you, his shoes scuffing on the ground as he rocked the swing back and forth.
“What makes you think I don’t want to?” you narrowed your eyes at him.
He shrugged, “maybe the way you told me about it? But of course, I could just be assuming, so go, have fun with Kun if that’ll make you happy,” he laughed, making you frown at him.
“But...” you started, though there was no other way to say this other than to admit you wanted Lucas to tell you not to go.
Lucas stopped swinging, looking at you expectantly, with a small glint of mischief in his eyes and a smirk playing at his lips.
“But? Is there a problem with what I just said?”
“Yes, a very big problem,” you told him, a small pout playing at your lips.
“Why is that?” He prodded you some more, to the point where you threw away your anxiousness, exasperatedly admitting to the tall boy,
“The problem is that I don’t wanna go ‘have fun’ with Kun because I like you!” you blurted.
He looked at you, pressing his lips together, before his eyes crinkled into crescents as he smiled.
As if nothing had happened, Lucas stood up, dusting off the imaginary dust from his track pants, slinging his bag on his shoulder, using his hand to shield the non-existent sun from his eyes as he looked up at the sky, “It’s getting late, let’s get you home.”
It was an understatement to say you were upset as Lucas walked you home. You felt so humiliated, that he would have the audacity to ignore the fact that you’d just confessed how you felt towards him, making you huff in annoyance when you realized you had reached your doorstep.
Not looking at him, you glared at his chest, being the only thing at your eye level, about to say goodbye when you felt him pull you into a hug. Not just any kind of lazy armed, lean-in goodbye hug, but an actual, warm, comforting hug, a hug of greeting instead of parting.
He let his head rest on top of yours gently, and you heard his laugh vibrate in his chest slightly, as his hand went up to pat the back of your head gently.
“I’m glad,” he told you.
You frowned, pulling away to see him look down at you, his hair flopping over his eyes only slightly as he gave you what you had deemed as your favourite smile of his, where his eyes would shut tightly and his mouth form the cutest grin you had ever seen.
And for the third time, you’d felt transported into one of the romantic dramas, you could practically hear Sicheng saying matter-of-factly, ‘he’s totally gonna confess’, which you would always reply with a shush, wanting to savour the moment.
Opening his eyes, Lucas reached one of his hands reached down to hold your hand, “because I like you too.”
It was as if you had become hyper-aware of your surroundings, the way your heart was beating at a steady pace for once, and how gently Lucas was holding your hand, to the way the moonlight was so bright today, being the perfect backdrop for this moment you wanted to capture in your head and remember forever.
Letting go of your hand after a while, it was as if things were moving in slow motion when Lucas leaned over to plant a shy kiss on your cheek, pulling away and covering the lower half of his face with his hand, hiding his blush from you.
This time, you smiled at him first, “Goodnight, Xuxi.”
He had to look away to compose himself since he was smiling so widely, turning back to you and nodding at you, waving his hand as he’d started taking slow steps back, desperate to run home so he could giggle and be shy about this in the privacy of his room.
“Goodnight, Y/N.”

He wrote the letter J on top of every cigarette carton he bought. Even in this half-lit patio, it was visible as he fished a cigarette out. There was only one left. Bringing the suicide stick to his mouth with one hand, Tim offered the pack to the young woman sitting on the other side of the small table. The woman hesitated, but shook her head, a hand wiping the tears away before she spoke.
“No, thank you,” she said. “Mama would kill me if she found out.”
Tim smiled, pulling the carton back.
“She misses you,” he said. “A lot.”
The young woman - a runaway, her name was Becca - looked down at the plastic table that sat between them.
“I can’t believe she did all this,” Becca said, her brown eyes watering again. “I can’t believe she did all this research… to find you, and… And actually pay for someone to…”
“My rates are good,” he said. “And there’s always business. You’re not alone in this. You never were.”
She swallowed, looking back at him through dark hair once dyed a vibrant gold. “So you’re sure…” Becca reached out for the bottle of pills on the table. “These pills, they’ll keep it away?”
“They did for me,” Tim said. “And they’ve done it for every person I’ve helped get prescribed to them.”
Her gaze turned away from the label on the orange bottle, back to him.
“I thought just meeting you could drive it away,” she said. “That’s what they all say online.”
Tim looked away, taking the time to light the cigarette. He inhaled death and blew out life as smoke, the hot Lousianna breeze carrying it far away. Shoving the lighter back into a pocket on his leather jacket, he looked back at the woman.
“Maybe I can,” he said. “Maybe it does avoid me. But do you want to take the chance and be wrong?”
Becca shuddered. “No. God, no. If these will stop the nightmares, I’ll take them all.”
He looked up at the sky, where the night sky struggled to show the stars above this generic rest stop of a small town. Three am and still the cars drove by past this motel, a river of molded metal and paint and plastic. Who knew where they were going. Who cared, either.
Tim exhaled. “You going to go back home?”
She swallowed, staring at the bottle in her hands.
“Is it really gone?” Becca asked.
Tim looked at her the same way he looked at all the other people he’d helped the past eight years.
“Yeah,” He promised. “It’s gone.”
Becca moved to rub her wet eyes again, but froze midway.
“Lukas,” she said.
Tim’s blood ran cold. He knew where this was going already.
“Lukas?”
“My friend. We’ve been riding together. He’s - he’s seen it too.” She looked between the bottle of pills and Tim, staring at her from across the table. “He left an hour ago. I need to text him and-”
“Stop.” Tim straightened. “Where was he going?”
“An - an old playground, it’s by this elementary school they don’t use anymore. He left his backpack there and-”
“Damn it,” Tim hissed. He threw the cigarette at his feet and ground the fire from it. “I’ll be - no.” He yanked the business card from another pocket on his jacket, followed by a pen. The name on the card read Timothy Kane for all to see. He handed them both to her. “Write down your phone number and the address of this school. I’ll call you when I find him.”
Becca scrambled for the pen, her fingers shaking.
“You don’t think.... He’s hurt? Do you?”
He took the business card but not the pen. He had more in his van.
“I’m going to find out,” Tim said.
In his van, he hit the steering wheel as he pulled out of the parking lot.
“Knew I was coming, didn’t you?” He said to the air. The disease didn’t, couldn’t, hear him. But that didn’t matter.
The Lukas guy had been gone for an hour, god knew what he’d gone through. He could be dead. Hurt. Had his brain scrambled like an egg, until he talked like a five year old and didn’t recognize his own mother. Did Lukas even have a mother?
Focus, focus. Tim caught a glimpse of himself in the rearview mirror, his eyes narrowed in the night. Focus, focus. He had a reputation to uphold. He had a standard. Tim Wright failed. Timothy Kane didn’t.
Someone had peeled the letters off the sign in front of the school. Kudzu and weeds swallowed the brick sign, cracking the fake marble and digging into the darkness inside. The parking lot behind it crunched under his tires, old dandelions flattening under his vehicle. Tim grabbed the flashlight from the passenger's seat before he left. There was no light for miles here, except for him.
Bugs swirled in the beam from his flashlight. Hot air flowed into his lungs. Sweat cooled on the back of his neck. Old gravel scraped under his boots. The rusted gate around the property lay on the ground with the weeds, and the metal barely squeaked when he walked over it. In front of him, the overgrowth choked the school entrance, plants falling over themselves to crush the brick and stone to dust. The front doors were gone. Tim stepped through.
They probably told ghost stories about this place, not that it kept the kids away. The fading murals on the wall were covered with graffiti, the glass wall that separated the front office from the entryway shattered, catching the light in every direction. What was probably a library stretched out on the far left side, the remaining bookshelves full of dust and cobwebs. On the right, a staircase, and open corridors that stretched into the darkness.
Tim exhaled.
“Where are you?” He whispered.
Someone screamed. His grip tightened on the flashlight. That was quick. Tim charged into the darkness.
“Leave me alone!” It must’ve been Lukas screaming. It found him first.
“Go away! It hurts! Stop it!”
He followed the scream past the old murals and graffiti, past the crossed out circles on the wall. The static rubbed against his skin, like touching an old television. He was getting closer.
“Stop! Stop!”
Auditorium. Probably the biggest room in the building. The roof caved in on the far side, exposing the already fading room to the light. Across from the door was a staircase with broken railings, and next to it… was It.
It hadn’t seen him, but It had to know he was here, watching It. After all these years, It never changed, Its appearance immortal, eternal, while he aged with life’s painful slowness. His heart still clenched when he saw It. His veins still chilled in Its presence. It didn’t look at him. The featureless head focused on the ground, at the man that writhed at Its feet. Tim inhaled, and stepped forwards.
Was it just him, that the air was colder now? Was it just him, that he could hear static ringing through his ears? His mouth dried, his heart shuddered. Human instinct demanded he run, but every step he took brought him closer to It. And even though every part of his body screamed, Tim wasn’t afraid. He’d lost that part of himself after doing this so long.
The words came from his mouth.
"Hey!"
There was no change, no reaction from the one on the floor, but the flat, vacant head moved. It turned, slowly, slowly, the suited body twisting towards the one that called out. It didn't have eyes but It looked back at him. It didn't have eyes, but It met his gaze.
Tim looked back.
"He's not yours," he said. "Leave him alone."
On the floor Lukas screamed, his hands wrapped around his head. He was shaking, he was crying in pain or fear. His leg was twisted the wrong way. But the Operator didn't move. It looked at Tim. It stood, and looked at him, as if It understood him. It tilted Its head. And with a feeling like emerging from deep underwater, it was gone. Tim gasped for air as if he'd surfaced.
Lukas stopped screaming. Tim, eyes wide, panting, looked at the man on the floor. The man looked back through teary eyes, his chest heaving with air.
"Christ," Tim said.
"Tim Wright?" Lukas asked.
"Timothy Kane." Tim stepped forward. "Becca's mother sent me."
"For real?" Lukas sucked in air, and coughed.
Tim kneeled down, looking the younger man over. "Your leg is broken," he said.
"The railing broke," Lukas said. "I was running from that thing-"
"You should've never come here alone," Tim said. He reached for the backpack near the twisted leg. "First rule of exploring abandoned buildings."
Lukas cringed. "Sorry."
Shaking his head, Tim offered his hand. "I can get you to my car and take you to the hospital. We'll call Becca and get you both on medication so this won't happen again."
The younger man breathed in, staring up at Tim with wide, exhausted eyes.
"You're real," Lukas said. "Everybody said you're just something people made up."
Tim shrugged, his mind drifting back towards the cigarette pack in his jacket. Once he got done here, he'd have to buy more.
"They say that about the Operator, too."

could you write dr2 boys reacting to learning their s/o is part of the neo world based off of a dead classmate like chiaki after being able to graduate the simulation the intended way or through surviving the killing game ?
Oh my goodness anon I love you for requesting this but I am equally angry that I never even contemplated something like this. I'm going to go with the boys graduating from the simulation the correct way for this ask and used bullet points but if you want me to do it the other way as well feel free to tell me. I won't go on much longer I just had to get it out that this is a great idea. An angsty idea no less but still amazing.
Tumblr media
I hope you enjoy this as much as I did writing it. If you all couldn't tell already I live for angst. Anyways here's the boy's reactions.
Teruteru
Teruteru had been so glad that you had accepted him for who he really was.
You didn't mind his accent or quirks and loved him for him.
That's why he was elated to graduate from the simulation you were in together after the class had collected all the hope fragments.
It meant that you and him would be able to be together for real. Just him and you with nothing else between you.
As soon as he woke up from the simulation and got to actually explore the real island his immediate goal was to find you but he just seemed to be missing you.
He thought that he'd find you soon enough when Hajime approached him and put a hand on his shoulder telling him about your own demise before the simulation.
He didn't want to be the one to break the guy's heart but no one else would be better at telling him the cold hard truth.
You didn't exist anymore. You slipped through Teruteru's fingers long before they were placed into the Neo World program.
As soon as the words left Hajime's lips it was evident that they weighed on Teruteru.
His smiling face had taken a more solemn expression. He needed to be alone so that he could mourn you. He'd end up bawling like a baby and crying out for you until he'd pass out some nights until he'd force himself to get out of this funk.
Neither you nor his mama would want to see him like this. He needed to honor your memories, not just mope around.
He'd make all your favorite dishes, he'd walk along the beach like you two said you would in the Neo World, and he'd cherish you. Even the you that wasn't real because it was still you that made him feel whole not that simulation in the end.
Imposter/BBB
The imposter never expected to end up getting close to you but with your kindness and tact, it wasn't unforeseen.
You weren't unworthy of his love or anything and you seemed to genuinely enjoy his company like no other person.
You wanted to know his dreams, his hopes, his inspirations, and most of all to get to know him and his heart.
Unlike Teruteru he wouldn't jump up at immediately graduating until after he'd turn to look at you and have you both promise that you'd find each other when you were out of the Neo World.
The only issue is you couldn't promise. The simulation's version of you did just that but you were long gone far before that promise was made.
That was why he couldn't find you.
Unlike Teruteru when everyone else was somehow all there but you, he'd quickly put the pieces together and rush to excuse himself.
He never wanted to get attached and here he was left heartbroken over a simulation.
He'd mourn without showing many expressions around the others. He just wanted to be alone to think, to reminisce as he'd gaze at that same ocean you two would in the Neo World.
Normally then you'd be holding hands but now his were empty as he was alone.
Nagito
Nagito like Teruteru is the type to rush into things.
They both tend to take drastic actions in order to get the things they want most in life so he wouldn't bat an eye at graduating from the Neo World with you.
Only he wouldn't be able to.
The same person that had gotten to know and accept the real Komaeda didn't exist anymore.
They perished long before the Neo World Program began and it fits almost too well with his luck for the person he loved to never have been real.
Like the Imposter, Nagito would wan to be alone for the most part to mourn you, getting snippy and irritable with anyone that dared to interrupt him.
He didn't want anything but you and you were dead. He'd try to laugh but would just end up crying as he remembered each moment he shared with the illusion of you.
He missed you more than anything.
Fuyuhiko
Fuyuhiko only had you and Peko. That was all he needed, he thought.
You two were closer than anything and he couldn't be happier. You never underestimated him. You saw all his capability and appreciated him for who he really was.
That's why he decided he did want to graduate with everyone. He wanted to be with you and Peko. With all three of you together he felt invincible.
However, that invincibility duration was not long. It soon fizzled out as he came to the real island he and his friends were on.
He thought he'd be able to find you but from the look on Peko's face when he asked he knew something was wrong.
Looking as distraught as him she had to tell him why their search for you was unsuccessful. How it was because you weren't real then.
You had been gone for years and you weren't coming back. Not now, not ever.
Fuyuhiko would immediately fly into a fit of rage, taking things out on inanimate objects and lashing out at others but whenever it was just him he'd cry his eyes out.
He missed everything about you. He was sorry he sometimes bitched at you or that he acted ungrateful at times he was sorry so why couldn't you be here with him?
He's filled with far more regrets than most of this cast at the loss of you.
Kazuichi
Like Nagito, Kazuichi's always been a pretty obsessive guy but he'd decide in an instant that he'd want to graduate from this simulation.
He knew you'd end up with him so what was there to worry about?
Apparently, a lot more than he knew because even after running around the whole island a few times, there was no sign of you.
He'd have just kept running on and on simply thinking he missed you if not for Hajime stopping him.
Like with Teruteru, it was better if Hajime broke the news to him since they were so close.
But as soon as he hears what Hajime has to say he goes into denial immediately.
He refuses to listen to reason still looking for you for days on end until the reality hits him like a slap to the face.
You really were dead! You were dead and there was nothing he could do to bring you back.
He'd end up isolating himself like Fuyuhiko and being quite irritable but when he's alone he surprisingly wouldn't cry.
Instead, he'd talk to the sky as if you were there with him right then and there.
Hajime
Once Hajime would leave the Neo World Program to be with his friends he'd be the quickest to piece together why you aren't with them.
Once he's in the real world he is basically Izuru reformed after all.
However, he's able to feel more than Izuru could. He'd know that you were a mere simulation, that you died long before this all began but he'd struggle with accepting it still.
He wanted so badly to see you running up to him to embrace him like you did so many times within the simulation but it was hopeless.
He knew it was true but he would want some time alone to think.
He didn't need to bawl his eyes out but he'd definitely cry those first few nights without you.
It's just that after he'd come to the same conclusion that Teruteru would at a faster speed.
He'd keep your memory in his heart for as long as he was around.
It didn't matter if he was just sitting on the shore watching the sunset or if he was drawing with his fingers in the sand alone because your memory was there with him.
You were still there by his side doing your own thing as he did his. Your memory was real enough for him to still cherish your time together.
Nekomaru
Nekomaru loved your fun-loving nature from the start of your escapades in the Neo World Program and was more than excited to continue to enjoy life to the max with you.
He was definitely would graduate without a second thought, immediately assuming you'd be there when he'd wake up.
But when you didn't he just assumed you were taking your sweet time.
Hahaha, S/o's so funny waiting to graduate.
He'd keep positive thoughts the whole time that you weren't there, arguing with anyone who said otherwise when deep down he realized.
You were like Chiaki, you didn't exist anymore.
You died before he went into the Neo World Program and there was no bringing you with him when left.
He'd have a lot of anger like Kazuichi or Fuyuhiko but he'd put it all into his fights with Akane or when he was training anyone.
He'd try to stay positive for you but some nights he'd find himself looking at the sea and thinking about how things could've been different if you could just be standing next to him right now.
He felt so empty.
Gundham
For someone to infiltrate the Dark Overlord's defenses was an anomaly at best.
He didn't allow others to pierce his walls but somehow your might had completely obliterated them.
That's why you were dating.
You understood Gundham and his eccentricities and even when you didn't you accepted him.
You did more, you loved him. You loved him and his dark devas, him and his poison blood, you just loved him as he was and he couldn't ask for more.
He decided to graduate with everyone rather hastily at the prospect of getting to see you for real but reality quickly caved in on him.
When everyone was there but you, he'd immediately assume the worst but would try to stand tall. Simply asking Hajime as to where you were.
But when Hajime shook his head and put his hand on his shoulder he instantly knew.
He'd barely comprehend those words but at the same time, they'd stick to the inside of his skull.
S/o died long before the Neo World Program started.
He just wouldn't be able to do more than turn into a mere husk of a man.
He wouldn't speak to anyone, not even Sonia. He'd just stand by the shore in solitude, wondering what you'd tell him to do now.

There you were, wet hair framing your angelic face. Arthurs brain went into overdrive, thinking a million things at once but not being able to process one. Should he act surprised at seeing you in nothing but a robe? Or did he look shocked enough as it was? He hoped so desperately that the reason you came here was that you wanted to lend a hairdryer, but the way you held his timid stare made him feel like you saw right through him.
Your eyes mustered him, he looked disheveled. His locks stuck out in some places while a few stray hairs sticked to his forehead. His lips were parted, face flushed. Half of his dress shirt was tucked into his pants, the rest not. A painfully obvious bulge in pants confirmed your thoughts.
You could either handle this properly, or have you fun with it. Arthur just stood there, not knowing what to say. Hell, there was nothing he could possibly say to make this situation better. His face felt as if it was burning at this point, shallow breaths escaping him as he stared the ground before him. He braced himself, waiting for your reaction, for you scream at him or punch him. And he couldn’t blame you if you did. You lifted your hand to move a strand of hair from your face and he flinched, squeezing his eyes shut.
The pity that you felt for him then was inevitable. Of course that didn’t give him the right to spy on you, but knowing how just watching you from afar could bring a man to this state made you feel …powerful. You hadn’t been with someone in a while, being busy with figuring your life out, getting adjusted to university and a new town. Of course you had boyfriends before, but those really were, well, boys. Guys your age, while you often felt you got along better with people who were older than you anyway. And frankly, you were filled with pride by how much this man who barely knew you wanted you, a hint of arousal pooling in your stomach.
When you felt that you had given him the silent treatment long enough, you spoke up. „Can I come in?“ A smile crept across your face, but Arthurs state of motionless shock almost worsened. He couldn’t believe what you just said, furrowing his brows as if he wasn’t sure he heard you right. „Happy“, a voice called, „Who’s there?“ God. How Arthur wished that none of this ever happened. ‚As if it couldn’t get any worse‘, he thought. „I, uh, my mother lives here.“, he stammered, „I’d.. if you, I don’t want her to…“. Admittedly, he was talking utter nonsense, but you understood what he meant to say. „Alright.“, you said, a knowing grin forming on your features. You shouted the next part of your sentence, just loud enough so she could hear  „Hello Ms. Fleck, I’m Y/N, the new neighbor.“, you took a breath, “I’m sorry, but I’m afraid I’ll have to kidnap your son for a few minutes. He promised to help me unpack a few boxes.“
Pleased with your response you turned, walking towards your flat and motioned for Arthur to come with you. He followed reluctantly, guilt written all over his features.
He tried to sort out his thoughts, attempting to smooth out his hair with his hands. What game were you playing? What did you want him to say?
Carefully he closed the door behind him. Apart from a few boxes being stacked in a corner, your flat looked nice and tidy. Judging from your interior, you must’ve earned at least a bit more money than him. Again he couldn’t help but wonder why you even moved here. “Well”, your head turned in his direction, “I don’t know how it looks on your end, but...”, you walked into your bathroom. Fuck. “It’s kind of obvious from here.” You knew. All along.
Nervous footsteps made its way into the room, walls still damp from the warm air. You smirked, not that he would’ve noticed. He looked up slowly and mentally slapped himself. How could he have been so stupid? In the middle of the flawless while tiles over her washing machine it was, a black hole surrounded by several cracks. You leaned over the machine, looking through the hole. You felt his eyes on you as your robe went up your thighs in the process. „I gather that’s your bedroom, then?“, you asked. “I’m.. Yes. I’m so sorry.”, he muttered, „I don’t.. I know I shouldn’t ha…I don’t know what I’m supposed to say.“ Hopeful and worrying eyes were glued to your form. You felt bad for making him go through this for so long, so you turned around and looked him straight in the eyes. „I never said I minded.“
The air grew thick with tension, and it suddenly felt even hotter than it was before. Arthur couldn’t help but to question if any of this was actually happening. Was he hallucinating? „What?“, he asked quietly. „We wanted to get to know each other anyway, didn’t we?“, you returned, a seductive smile on your lips as you slowly, step by step, walked closer to him. Usually, you weren’t one to act this cocky, but you had to how much it would take for him to lose his calm and introverted composure. You stopped right in front of him, noting how he smelled like cigarettes and cheap cologne, and saw the struggle in his eyes. Arthur - for the hundreth time that day - didn’t know how to act. Where you actually saying these things? He tried to keep his composure, but you were close. So very close to him. „It is a little unfair, though. Don’t you think? You got to see all that while I, from here, can barely make out the corner of your bed.“, you bit your lip, your fingers traveling up his arms, over his shoulders to the collar of his shirt, smoothing it gently. He couldn’t believe what you were doing, yet your hands on him felt so real. And so warm, his eyes fluttered closed on their own. In this moment he realized how damn touch starved he was. “I think you owe me.”, you whispered, clasping your hands behind his neck. He let out a shuddering breath. “If this is a joke to you”, he said, his voice sounding deeper than before, “I suggest you stop.”. The way he spoke went straight to your core as you got on your tiptoes to lean close to his ear, pressing your bodies fully together.
“Do you want this?”, you hushed, pulling back just enough to be able to see his face. He studied your expression, searching for any trace of a lie, a hint that you didn’t mean any of what you said. Finding none, he finally answered. “Yes.”
You brushed a strand of hair from his face and he leaned into your touch, your lips barely apart.   “Then take it.”, you barely recognized your voice with how sultry it was. But you didn’t have time to think about it either, as in an instand Arthurs lips were on yours. He had no idea what he was doing, but he wanted to show you that he can make you feel all the things you made him feel. He pressed his lips to yours with more force than he intended to, grabbing your waist to help you stand. His kisses were intense, eager and filled with so much wonder and passion. His left hand made its way to the side of your throat, brushing over your jaw with his thumb. He grazed your lower lip between his teeth, earning a quiet moan from you. Using his chance he explored your mouth with his tongue. A growl escaped him as you ran your nails down his torso, starting to slowly unbutton his shirt. He pulled away then, leaving you gasping for air as you rested your forehead against his. He closed his eyes, and when he opened them you saw the same restraint you had seen before. He was panting, feeling his hardening cock straining his trousers. He was looking for the right words as you waited patiently,  running your thumb over his cheek to reassure him. “I’ve never done this before.”, he commented, barely a pause between his words. Sure, he seemed inexperienced, but you didn’t expect that either. The fact that this surprised you must’ve been evident, as he tried to detangle his arms from you, a defeated expression on his face. “Arthur, wait.”, you took one of his large hands in yours, this time you were the one struggling with words “I’m sorry, I just didn’t think that.. well. The point is, if you want to go on we can. But im grateful that you told me, so I can try to make it as special as it should be.”
“Oh, I don’t think it gets any more noteworthy than it already is.”, he retorted with a grin on his face, finally seeming to relax. You giggled, and Arthur noticed how much he loved to hear you laugh. „Oh, Arthur.“, you said softly, „You have no idea.“.
His eyes took on a darker shade of green as he claimed your lips again. His hands went to your waist on their own, one of his hands sliding down slowly, squeezing your butt. You squeaked, surprised at his sudden boldness. With strength you didn’t know he had, he picked you up and sat you down on the washing machine. His hands never left you for too long, as if he was afraid the moment would end if he stopped touching you.
As you finished unbuttoning his shirt you ran your hands over his bare torso. He was thin, but something about being with a him, a proper man, made him undeniably sexy to you. You pulled him closer, fingers tangling in his soft locks as his lips travelled over your neck. Little whimpers of yours turned to breathy moans as he found that sweet spot between your neck and shoulder. Your moans were the most wonderful and naughty sounds he had ever heard, spurring him on, guiding him. Patience never was one of your virtues, so you took one of his hands, sliding it up to your breast. You both moaned at the feeling of your erect nipple under his thumb, his hips bucking forward. Feeling bold, you palmed him through his trousers, using your other hand to help him slide down his button up. His groans were quiet and shy at first, which only made you determined to hear more of him. He on the other hand felt like he was floating and never coming down, you were doing exactly like he imagined, but so much better.
„Arthur“, you said then, your tone making him pull back to look at you, worry immediately etching itself into his features. „Are you alright? Have I done something wr..“, his sentence ended abruptly as you began pulling on the string that held your bathrobe in place, never once looking away from him.
The soft fabric fell off your shoulder, pooling around your butt. For a split second insecurity got to you, sitting in front of him fully exposed. But as soon as you saw the look in his eyes, all your tentativeness was washed away. His eyes roamed your body freely, licking his lips as he thought of all the things he wants to do to you. He had spend so much time in his life imagining, but now he’ll experience. The look in his eyes was one of pure lust; hungry, almost lethal in the best kind of way. „Fuck, Y/N.“, he growled, „You’re fucking perfect.“. His lips attacked your neck again, finding your spot in a matter of seconds.
God, what he lacked in experience he made up with how fast he learned.
„Arthur, please.“, you cried, grinding yourself against his crotch as much as your position allowed. He pulled back a bit then, letting a hand travel from your neck over your breast, pinching, down your stomach to your thigh. „That’s right, Y/N.“, his voice was husky, shy demeanor faltering as he gained confidence with each of your cries, „I want to hear you scream my name.“, he said, raising his eyebrows ever so slighty, wickedly grinning. He spread your legs with ease, pulling you to the edge of your seat as he crouched down. You felt his hands ghost over your thighs, his warm breath on your core as his lips were inches apart from where you wanted them to be. Turned on wasn’t even a word for how you felt as his attitude changed. „Fuck, please, touch me Arthur.“, you begged. And he smirked, that bastard actually smirked. You couldn’t stay mad for long, though. He lifted your leg over his left shoulder and dove right in, no hesitation holding him back any longer as he gave a long lick along your pussy.
He wanted to, no, needed to please you. He wanted to be sure this is real, and that it’s his work alone. What better way than to make you call out his name as you come undone for him?
You shuddered in delight as he worked out the perfect angle, making you groan with every little touch of his tongue. He savored every moment of this, lapping at your juices, tasting your arousal as it dripped down his chin. „Arthur, this feels so fucking good. Oh!“, you whimpered, face flushed as he looked up at you. He’d never forget the expression in your face in that moment, rosy cheeks, pleading eyes filled with need. Need for him. You were getting close and he knew, feeling it by the way you pulsated around his tongue. Satisfaction raced through him at the thought of making you come for him. You were young, absolutely gorgeous and it was him you desired. He could barely comprehend it, but that wasn’t going to stop him now.
Keeping up the movement on your clit he let his hand slide over your inner thigh, dipping his right index finder into your throbbing entrance. You sighed and shivered, grateful for the way he was holding you in place as you bucked your hips. He picked up a pace, making you lose control. “Ah! Arthur, I’m so close!” You huffed out between little breaths, your moans filling the otherwise silent flat. “Come for me.”, he growled, the vibrations of his voice against your wet cunt sending you off. You squeezed you eyes shut as your head dropped back, his name on your lips like a prayer. Feeling your muscles contract around his finger he groaned, keeping you still as you tried to squirm, working you through your orgasm.
Your legs were still shaking as you opened your eyes again. Arthur came up, looking absolutely delicious. His hair was tousled, lips glistening. In that very moment he just looked so damn kissable. So that’s what you did. You pulled him close, hands around each other. Kissing him was like magic, you tasted yourself on his tongue, which only increased the wetness between your thighs. Squeaking as he scooped you up in his arms, you both couldn’t stop the smiles from breaking out on your faces.
He laid you down on your bed gently, moving a strand of hair from your face with his thumb, his lips finding yours again. Arthur could’ve spent the rest of life like this, being close to you, kissing your soft skin. A hand moving down his body put his thoughts on hold, the sound of his zipper sounding strangely appealing in your presence. He got up, standing right in front of the bed, your legs parted around him. Suddenly he lacked the confidence to uncover his member, self-consciousness rising inside of him. You sat up, scooting to the edge of the mattress, taking his hand to make him look at you. You trailed kisses over his lower abdomen, dragging your fingers over his legs to the waistband of his pants, brushing over his clothed manhood intentionally. „May I?“, you asked.
He nodded, watching as your tongue travelled over your lips as you freed his aching cock. You took him in your hands, caressing and stroking. Arthur made the prettiest of sounds for you. His cock was painfully hard, making you wiggle your hips in anticipation. „Y/N.. Oh..“, fell from his lips. He looked divine in that moment, lips parted, he was absolutely careless as your motions cleared his mind. „Mh, Y/N, I need you.“, he croaked out. You understood, taking his hand and pulling him down with you. Hovering above you his hair fell into his flushed face while he continued holding your hand, pushing your arm down next to your head. Dilated pupils looked into your eyes as he positioned himself at your opening, silently questioning. You gave a reassuring smile and nodded, gazing at him as you felt him push into you slowly. So slowly, it made you tremble and moan. He moved out, and back into you again. Faster this time, making you cry out louder. Again. Your noises incited him, invigorating him to go harder, faster, deeper. Arthur had built up a steady rhythm, leaving little bites on your neck and changing his angle every now and then. He somehow reached that sweet spot inside you, you screaming his name in response. He felt like the luckiest man alive in that moment, chasing his pleasure through yours. Between gasps and pleas  you encouraged him, loving the sensations he brought to you. Your pussy was throbbing, getting closer with every of his thrusts. He was panting, adoring every second of this. „Arthur, you feel so good.“, you cried, getting dangerously close to your release, „Don’t stop, please.“. „Y/N…“, he started, and you knew. He was slowly losing his pace as his orgasm built up, sparks spreading through his lower stomach, begging for release. He looked purely pornographic, brows furrowed and grunting your name. You couldn’t escape the scream that rattled through you as you came for the second time, taking him over the edge with you as your wet slit convulsed around him. He collapsed on top of you, both of you catching your breath for god knows how long.
When he pulled out of you you felt his semen dripping out of you onto the bedsheets, but you couldn’t have cared less. He plopped down onto the bed next to you, silence engulfing you. A relaxed smile played on your lips, but Arthurs thoughts started racing. This whole time he felt as if he had been on autopilot, and now reality came crashing back to him. He realized how absolutely clueless he was, should he stay or should he leave? Did you regret it? Suddenly he questioned everything he had done, feeling much more insecure about laying there, naked and vulnerable. Before he could even find he words to voice what was going on inside his head, you scooted closer to him, stroking his cheek with you thumb, a soft and content expression on your face. He felt calmer, but couldn’t shake his doubts. „I…Did I.. Was that okay?“, he asked, and you laughed. ‚What?‘, he thought, confusion written all over his features. Your laughter softened as you settled for your answer, shaking your head slightly. „Arthur, you were absolutely mind blowing. I seriously have trouble believing that this was the first time you’ve done this.“, you laid your head on his chest, listening to his heartbeat. He covered the both of you with your blanket, his fingers making their way through your hair, brushing gently. Satisfied with your answer, he felt warmth engulfing him, he felt home. „Really“, you told him „I wouldn’t mind if you helped me with my boxes again sometime.“. His chest rumbled with laughter, the sound music to your eyes. He kissed the top of your head and nodded in agreement, exhaustion getting the better of you two as you started dozing off.
If he had ever felt happiness in his life, it was right there and then.
Feedback, pretty please?
