★ characters: uzui tengen x readers ★ synopsis: The sequel of Parallel Lines ★ content warnings : minor manga spoilers ★  author’s note; by the way, i'll be deviating slightly from the original plot of the series. i haven't finished the manga yet, but i'm pretty sure i know what occurred later. also, i'm thinking of making this a one-sided story between Tengen and the reader.
for example, i will not include Hinatsuru, Makio, and Suma. at least they won't be romantically involved with Tengen in this timeline. and thank you very much for reading and supporting this piece! i wasn't joking when i said i was surprised at yalls feedback and support. it really means a lot to me. <3

author’s note; And now for Chapter 9! This is more of a filler update, but things will finally pick up after this. I'd also want to thank everyone who has shown appreciation for Invisible Strings and Parallel Lines.
To be honest, I came up with PL while working on layouts at work. My mind does that occasionally, where I'm doing something entirely different yet my head is thinking somewhere else.
I'm also not lying when I say that I haven't been this inspired and driven to write in a long time. I started writing on wattpad in 2011 lol, then I sorta stopped because life became really hectic and toxic, and now we're here.
And believe it or not, I've only written smut once or twice. Despite having read so much of it, I'm not particularly good at it.
Anyway! Thank you so much for giving me something to look forward to!
I owe it all to you.
Enjoy the update!
Also, you nasties, you're welcome. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

"Shit, fuck!"
You exclaimed, your voice filled with a potent mix of pleasure and exasperation.
For the third time that night, your toes curled, your mouth agape, but no sound emerged as you surrendered to the waves of your climax. Unyielding, Tengen persisted in thrusting against you on the pristine kitchen countertop, the force of his movements causing your fluids to cascade across the surface. He showed no signs of relenting, his grip unyielding as he savored the depths of his desire for you.
"That's a good girl, taking my cock so well. Do you want more, huh? We have all night, my darling." Tengen's voice dripped with seduction, each word sending delicious shivers coursing through your body. Your inner walls involuntarily contracted around his length at the sound, drawing him deeper and evoking a guttural groan from your boyfriend.
To be honest, his words merely floated above your head, your singular focus consumed by the insatiable hunger for more. The magic word 'more' reverberated within you, and with an eager nod, you babbled like a doll, driving Tengen to the edge of his own climax.
Every time he reduced you to this state, it remained a delightful surprise for him. Your blissed-out countenance, a testament to the pleasure he bestowed on you, filled him with sheer contentment. In that moment, he felt a sense of possession and elation, knowing that he had you all to himself.
Tengen's lips claimed yours once more in a scorching kiss—an inferno of passion and desire. His fervor left your tongue drained and your lips tingling, all while he expertly positioned himself at your entrance. As the tip of his cock probed your sensitive core, your hips eagerly surged forward, seeking the divine connection.
You were an absolute mess as your beast of a boyfriend resumed pounding into you, his thick member delving deep and striking against your cervix with each powerful thrust. Chanting his name like a sacred mantra, your hands grew frenzied, desperately searching for something, anything, to hold onto as Tengen ravished you without mercy. Raking your nails across his back, you elicited pleasurable groans from him, completely lost in the rapture of the moment.
The aftermath of your intense passion would undoubtedly make taking a shower a challenge, as you had likely left marks on Tengen's back. The thought alone made him chuckle to himself.
Drawing away from the kiss, Tengen's eyes were fixed on your visage, his cock twitching with anticipation at the sight before him.
"I've always known you were a keeper, but damn, y/n, you're fucking enchanting," he breathed, his words lost on you as your capacity to comprehend anything beyond the sensation of his cock deep inside you had waned.
Yet, even in your dazed state, you responded to him with moans and the repeated chanting of his name.
You had reached subspace.
Tengen had successfully rendered you senseless.
Who could have predicted that a simple act of reeling him in by his belt loops for a kiss would lead to this?
But were you complaining?
Absolutely not.
"You're going to come for me again, right? Can you do that for me, my love?" Tengen's words barely registered as he quickened his pace, the lewd sounds of flesh slapping and the sloshing of arousal filling the expansive penthouse. He skillfully stimulated your sensitive nub, intensifying your pleasure.
"Ahh—! I can't—"
"Yes, you can," Tengen hissed in your ear, propelling you into overdrive.
Everything became too much.
His voice, his scent, and the bewitching rhythm of his cock within your needy core
Everything.
The culmination of sensations catapulted you into yet another climax, and this time, a soundless cry escaped your lips. The electrical surge coursed through your body with an intensity surpassing all previous orgasms combined, leaving you trembling uncontrollably in Tengen's arms.
"Fuck—you're squeezing me so tight—" Tengen's hips stuttered as you clenched around him once again, and with a final series of powerful thrusts, his hot seed surged forth, coating your walls and leaving them glistening in its wake.
Both of you remained silent as you caught your breath, your juices continuing to trickle from your quivering core. Tengen leaned against you for support, his legs weakened by the sheer intensity of your shared passion.
A chuckle escaped him as he opened his eyes to gaze at you, an expression of pure adoration gracing his face.
In stark contrast to the raw intensity that had unfolded in your kitchen, he pressed a tender kiss on your lips.
"My baby girl, you're so adorable," he murmured, his words a gentle reminder of the profound connection you shared.
Tengen didn't receive a response, as you remained lost in your own little universe, consumed by the desperate longing to return to Earth. Oblivious to his presence, your boyfriend patiently awaited your return, showering you with affection.
He traced delicate kisses across your face, leaving a trail of affection in his wake. Gradually, his lips descended to your neck, savoring the remnants of his earlier passion. From there, he ventured to your shoulder blades, nibbling gently while his hands caressed your sides, their touch both soothing and electrifying.
A timid whimper escaped your lips, capturing Tengen's attention instantly.
"Are you alright?" he asked, his trademark smile illuminating his face.
You nodded, your hazy smile conveying your contentment. "So good," you affirmed, your voice laced with desire.
"Was I too rough?" Tengen inquired, his tone filled with concern.
"Do it again next time," you replied, your words laced with anticipation.
Tengen chuckled, the sound resonating with warmth. As his hands continued to glide over your body, eliciting delightful shivers, he hummed in response to your request.
Though his actions were seemingly ordinary, the touch of his calloused hands against your skin felt utterly extraordinary. Unintentionally, you tightened around him, causing a soft moan to escape his lips.
"Sorry," you chuckled sheepishly, your cheeks tinted with a rosy blush.
Tengen withdrew, leaving you yearning for the intoxicating fullness he provided. Scooping as much of your mixed fluids as he could with his fingers, he brought them to his mouth, savoring the taste of you. Your eyes widened, a moan escaping your lips at the sight, which only elicited warm laughter from him.
Just as he was about to speak, you surprised him by mimicking his actions. With wide eyes, he observed as you sensually sucked your own finger, savoring the essence of your arousal.
"Fuck my face next time?" you boldly suggested, your voice laced with desire, releasing your finger with a satisfying pop.
Tengen's laughter reverberated throughout the vast penthouse, his mind still processing your audacious act while you casually dropped another bombshell.
To be honest, your proposition reignited a stirring in his loins, however slight.
Your audacity earned you a breathtaking kiss on the lips, a tender exchange that followed Tengen wiping away tears of laughter from his eyes.
"Oh, Y/N. You're truly something else," Tengen remarked, his chuckles punctuating his words.
A yelp escaped your lips as Tengen playfully slapped your ass, assisting you in stepping off the counter since you were unable to stand on your own.
"You naughty brat, let's go wash up before my dick springs back to life again," he teased, his voice laced with a hint of mischief.
Tengen carried you like a princess, his strong arms supporting you as he guided you back to your shared bedroom. He deftly wiped away the remnants of your passion from your thighs and belly before escorting you to the bathroom.
It would be an understatement to say that you were adjusting well to living with your boyfriend. Each day brought new discoveries and delights as you navigated the intricacies of your intertwined lives.

"Stop that."
"Stop what?"
"That!"
Zenitsu cast a sidelong glance at his boss, who wore a stupid grin on his face as they sat in the office library, immersed in their work.
"I'm sorry, but you're giving me the creeps," Zenitsu remarked, his discomfort evident in his tone.
"Then leave." Tengen shrugged nonchalantly, his attention fixated on the screen of his laptop.
The new week at Hashira Corp. had commenced, with everyone back to work as another significant event loomed on the horizon.
The annual Hashira Gala
It was the day the company had been established, and the event held immense significance. Despite having several months to prepare, the team knew that meticulous planning and flawless execution were essential for this grand affair.
Tengen, true to his title as the God of Festival, was in charge of the gala's theme, a responsibility befitting his expertise. Zenitsu, with his surprisingly refined taste, had taken charge of the venue's interior design. His eye for aesthetics had been evident even in the design of Tengen's opulent penthouse.
You, along with Nezuko and Yushiro, were entrusted with finding the ideal venue, as last year's location had already been reserved by another organization. Meanwhile, Mitsuri and Senjuro embarked on a journey across various countries in Asia, extending the company's invitations personally.
Despite the advancements in technology, Kagaya preferred the personal touch of hand-delivered invitations.
"You see Y/N every day at work, and you're even living with her. Stop acting like a love-sick puppy when we're working!" Zenitsu grumbled, casting an annoyed glance at Tengen.
"As I said before, you are free to leave. I can handle this on my own. I'll call on you when I need something," Tengen replied, his focus remaining unwavering on his work.
"I don't want to," Zenitsu retorted, his voice filled with a mix of frustration and longing.
"Why?" Tengen inquired, finally diverting his attention to his secretary.
"There's no one on our floor right now. Y/N and the others are out with Giyuu-senpai. It's very lonely," Zenitsu admitted, his loneliness seeping through his words.
"Then shut your mouth and focus on your job," Tengen responded dismissively.
"Rude! I'm telling Y/N!" Zenitsu exclaimed, playfully smacking Tengen's shoulder in retaliation.
In response to the blonde's threat, Tengen rolled his eyes, a fond exasperation evident on his face.
"How's living with her?" Zenitsu inquired after a brief pause, curiosity lacing his voice.
"It's fine," Tengen replied nonchalantly.
"Fine? Even though you were smiling like a lunatic earlier?" Zenitsu pressed, his tone filled with skepticism.
Tengen deadpanned, finding himself caught off guard by his secretary's ever-changing moods. "Why are you suddenly interested in my love life when you were horrified by my smile just five minutes ago?"
"I guess I want to strengthen our rapport," Zenitsu shrugged, offering a half-hearted explanation.
Hashira sniggered, finding amusement in Zenitsu's attempt to bridge the gap. "Well, it's fantastic, living with Y/N."
"Yeah?" Zenitsu's curiosity grew, his tone eager for more details.
"Yeah," Tengen affirmed with a contented smile.
"And how about you?" Tengen redirected the conversation, his voice tinged with curiosity.
"What about me?" Zenitsu replied, slightly puzzled by the question.
The Sound Hashira furrowed his brow, searching for the right words. "When are you going to present that ring to Nezuko? It's been sitting in your locker for an entire year."
Ah, well," Zenitsu chuckled shyly, "I still haven't found the perfect moment."
"And that is..." Tengen prodded, genuinely curious about his friend's plans.
"Perhaps after the Gala," Zenitsu revealed, his voice filled with a mix of excitement and nerves.
"I forgot; our anniversary falls on the day of the event, right?"
Zenitsu's expression shifted to a slight frown as he remembered the significance of that date. "Yeah, I don't want to overwhelm her, so I'll wait until the gala is done before proposing. It'll be a few days before her birthday anyway."
"Have you asked Kamado for his blessing yet?" Tengen inquired, his curiosity getting the better of him.
Zenitsu winced as he realized he had neglected this crucial step. "No, not yet."
Tengen shook his head in mock disappointment. "Hey now..."
"I just don't know how to do it, okay? Tanjiro and I are best friends, but I want to properly ask for his blessing, especially after letting him down before," Zenitsu admitted, sinking further into his seat.
"Is he still upset about it?" Tengen asked, his concern evident in his voice.
"No, not anymore," Zenitsu replied, shaking his head. "He's already forgiven me."
"Why would you break his one and only request anyway? You're such a nitwit sometimes," Tengen muttered, recalling Tanjiro's anger when Zenitsu failed to bring Nezuko home on time.
The situation had been even worse since Nezuko had been intoxicated when Zenitsu finally brought her back. They had attended a friend's birthday party, but Nezuko had a commitment the next day, visiting their relatives in the countryside. She wasn't even supposed to join Zenitsu, but he had promised Tanjiro that he would bring his sister back as soon as he could, so she could get enough sleep.
However, the blonde had lost track of time and escorted Nezuko home well after midnight.
It wasn't just a matter of breaking a promise; it was endangering his beloved sister's well-being, and Zenitsu felt the weight of his irresponsibility.
"Yeah, I know. Tanjiro has called me that a hundred times," Zenitsu admitted with a sheepish grin.
Tengen chuckled. "Serves you right."
"You're terrible at comforting people," Zenitsu remarked, rolling his eyes playfully.
"Just concentrate on your work so that we can meet the others for lunch," Tengen urged, redirecting the conversation.
The group had decided to dine out for lunch once again, as the cafeteria food had become monotonous. Tengen had read in your messages that you were almost finished with your field work and would be returning soon.
"What are we eating for lunch?" Zenitsu asked, his stomach growling in anticipation.
"Yushiro mentioned that they discovered a really good buffet restaurant a few streets away," Tengen replied.
"He's really amazing at discovering new hotspots," Zenitsu murmured, impressed.
"It saves us the trouble of finding a place ourselves," Tengen agreed.
The remainder of the morning passed quickly, with Tengen and Zenitsu diligently working in the library while you were out in the field with the rest of the team. By 1:00 p.m., you had successfully returned to the office, and everyone agreed to take a short break before heading out for lunch.
In the pantry, you and Tengen were preparing a cup of coffee and grabbing a snack. Tengen opted for a granola snack and a yogurt drink while you poured your coffee.
"Were you able to find a good place?" Tengen asked, curious about your search for a lunch venue.
"Nope, not yet," you replied, pouting slightly. "Every location we went to is completely booked, and the ones we liked are too expensive."
"I see. Well, we don't have to rush since we still have time," Tengen reassured you.
"How about you? Do you have any updates on the theme?" you inquired, wanting to know if Tengen had made any progress.
"Not yet," Tengen admitted, shaking his head. "I have a few prospective candidates, but I need to ask Gyoumei for his opinion. At least there's still progress."
As the two of you stood together, Tengen slipped his arm around your waist, pulling you closer to him. He leaned down and gently kissed the top of your head.
"I missed you," he whispered.
"Someone's clingy?" you teased, looking up at him with a playful smile.
Tengen laughed as the two of you walked back to your floor. "I was getting weary of Zenitsu's loud nagging earlier, and I missed your soothing voice."
"Are you bullying him again?" you asked, raising an eyebrow.
"No?! He's the one who bullied me today," Tengen protested, feigning innocence.
"Serves you right," you teased, knowing their banter well.
Tengen couldn't resist the opportunity and playfully smacked your ass, causing you to yelp in surprise and almost spill your coffee.
"Tengen! I almost spilled my coffee, you know?" you exclaimed, giving him a mock glare.
Immediately realizing his mistake, Tengen felt remorseful. He took a step forward, leaning down to kiss the tip of your nose.
"I'm sorry," he apologized sincerely, his eyes filled with regret.
"Sometimes I hate how handsome you are," you playfully remarked as you continued walking together.
"Why?" Tengen asked, a mischievous grin on his face, anticipating your response.
"How am I supposed to stay annoyed with you when you look at me like that? Damn you and your beautiful face," you complained, pretending to be exasperated.
"What can I say? I'm a hu—" Tengen began to reply, but before he could finish his sentence, you quickly left him alone in the corridor, feigning annoyance.
The rest of the lunch break passed quickly as everyone devoured their food, their hunger fueled by the morning's hard work. However, a momentary interruption occurred when Zenitsu, in his usual candid manner, asked about the legendary prowess of Tengen's manhood. Without missing a beat, your boyfriend came to your defense and playfully smacked the blonde on the head. Although you typically side with Zenitsu, you couldn't help but agree that he deserved the reprimand this time.
Even though you didn't voice your response, you couldn't help but ponder Zenitsu's question in your mind.
As the afternoon wore on, Zenitsu and Nezuko excused themselves from the office, having something important to attend to. Yushiro, on the other hand, was engaged in a meeting with Sanemi and Gyoumei to discuss the inspection of existing technologies and the replacement of any defective units. It was just you and Tengen left in the office.
At your desk, you busied yourself with last-minute arrangements, scheduling visits to potential venues for Wednesday.
"Y/N," Tengen called out, his voice grabbing your attention.
"What?" you replied, keeping your focus on your work.
"C'mere!" Tengen beckoned, his tone filled with a hint of longing. "I'm starting to feel lonely here."
"I'm working," you stated matter-of-factly.
"That can wait," Tengen insisted. "Come on, I miss having you near me."
"You miss Zenitsu already, my love?" you teased, enjoying the opportunity to playfully taunt your boyfriend.
You could hear Tengen whining like a child from his desk.
"Y/N, hurry up and come here," he pleaded.
Unable to resist his pouting any longer, you decided to give in and march over to his desk. "What?"
"Sit here," Tengen said, patting his lap.
"We're at work," you objected, glancing towards the door of your floor to ensure no one was watching.
Tengen shook his head, a harmless smile playing on his lips. "We're not going to do anything," he reassured you. "I just want you close to me."
You hesitated at first, feeling a twinge of apprehension, but the longing to be close to Tengen overpowered your reservations.
Like him, you had missed the warmth and comfort of his presence.
You had never considered yourself particularly clingy, or at least you thought so, but ever since you met Tengen, you found yourself yearning to be by his side, no matter the time or place.
It might not be the healthiest attachment, but nobody's perfect, right?
Without hesitation, Tengen pulled you onto his lap, his arm securely around your waist as he rested his chin on your shoulder.
"What are you doing?" you asked, your eyes drifting to his computer screen.
"I'm just finalizing my proposal to Gyoumei," he murmured, leaning in to kiss the junction of your neck before returning his attention to his work.
"Hey, there's a typo in your email," you pointed out, noticing a few misspelled words and punctuation errors.
Tengen rewarded you with another kiss, this time on your jaw, the extent of his reach from your current position. "Thank you~"
Gradually, you settled into the cozy seat, leaning back against Tengen's chest, and watched him diligently work on his presentation. The steady rhythm of his heartbeat provided a soothing background, lulling you into a state of drowsiness.
As the room fell into complete silence, the battle to stay awake became more arduous. Despite your efforts, sleep eventually won, and within a few minutes, you succumbed to its embrace.
*
Who is she?
As you stared at the mysterious woman standing before you, your mind raced with questions.
Wait.
She looks oddly familiar.
Wait.
There's something strikingly similar about her appearance and mine.
However, her porcelain-white skin was starkly different, adorned with peculiar floral tattoos that sprawled across her face. Her eyes held an otherworldly quality, swirling with spirals and displaying an unfamiliar hue. When your gaze fell upon her body, you noticed subtle scale-like markings and dangerously sharp fingernails.
"Hey!" she began, and an indescribable terror gripped your heart.
"Who are you?" you managed to ask, your voice trembling.
"I am you."
The words hung in the air, thick with anticipation and tension, leaving you paralyzed with fear.

hey! just wanna greet you a happy birthday. i really love your tengen series by the way. you update so fast but each chapter has different feels to it and i think thats so cool. how do you come up with the plto?
Oh, hello!
Thank you so much for your message! Also, thank you for reading my work; you're all very kind, I swear. 🥰
To be honest, I'm composing the story on the spot. For example, when I'm writing a chapter, I'm visualizing what will happen next in my head. For the time being, the story's primary point is about Y/N, who was a demon in her former life and was granted rebirth. I suppose you might consider this a soulmate!au because I deviated slightly from the original plot of the series in order to make the fic as inclusive as possible for the readers.
I already have an ending in mind; I just need to figure out how to get there lol.

The scorching heat of the day seemed to mock you as you gazed up at the clear, blue sky. The weather had no business being so pleasant on a day that held such frustrations in store.
It was another field day for you, Nezuko, and Yushiro, and while the initial excitement of exploring the city and indulging in delicious food had been enticing, it had quickly given way to tedium. The weight of unfinished work back at the office loomed over you, preventing you from fully enjoying the outing.
As you mentally counted the reasons why this day was far from ideal, the thought of Tengen lingered in your mind. His recent proposal had been approved by Gyoumei, bringing a sense of relief to both of you. However, the immense task it entailed had left him preoccupied and his attention divided.
Tengen, along with Zenitsu, had begun their fieldwork, searching for the perfect materials to bring the venue's interior design to life. Yet today, they too were confined to the office, tending to other errands. The anticipation of finding the ideal location had given way to a temporary bout of window shopping.
Unfortunately, the search was taking longer than anticipated, and a subtle sense of impatience settled among your group. It wasn't that everything needed to be done immediately, but the shared belief was that accomplishing as much as possible in the present would alleviate future pressures.
The dissatisfaction was voiced by Yushiro, whose voice was tinged with fatigue as he wiped sweat from his forehead. "So, this is also a no-go, huh?"
You shared his exasperation, swiping away your own perspiration. "Yeah, they're asking for too much for such a small room, and they won't even grant us creative freedom to decorate the place."
Nezuko chimed in, her tone laced with irritation as she boarded the company van. "Even if they allowed us, I wouldn't want it. That geezer is obnoxious as hell."
The owner of the location, with whom you had been negotiating, reminded you of a former boss—stubborn and vexing. You had taken charge of the conversation by suggesting this particular spot, but now you couldn't help but feel a pang of guilt for recommending it in the first place. The way the owner had spoken to you and your friends had nearly ignited your temper, but you managed to restrain yourself.
If only Giyuu had been by your side. His persuasive skills could have swayed the geezer to lower the price and grant you the creative freedom you desired. Alas, an emergency meeting with Kagaya had summoned him away, leaving you to navigate the negotiations without his support.
As you stepped inside the van, exhaustion washed over you, causing you to flop into your seat. It felt as though today's events had drained you more than usual, leaving you feeling utterly fatigued.
Nezuko's concerned voice broke through your weariness. "Are you okay, Y/N? Do you need water?"
Nodding, you acknowledged your parched throat, a consequence of wandering under the scorching sun all day. Nezuko handed you a bottle of water, and you gratefully accepted it.
Yushiro, observing you closely, voiced his observation. "Is it just me, or do you seem terribly pale?"
Feeling a pang of discomfort, you admitted, "I'm not sure, but I do feel a little under the weather."
Concern etched on her face, Nezuko insisted, "Oh no, that's not good. Let's go back to the office for now. We can continue our search tomorrow."
Initially resistant, you shook your head, determined to power through. "No, I'm alright. I'll just take a nap or grab something to eat to replenish my energy. We need to find a place soon, right?"
But Nezuko's resolve was unyielding. Her stern voice left little room for argument. "No, we're going back, and that's final."
Unable to resist her persuasive tone and resolute gaze, you reluctantly relented. "You're right, Nezuko-chan."
She rewarded you with a warm smile. "Good girl. Now let's get back and report to Tengen-san."
You returned her smile and settled into your seat. It didn't take long before exhaustion overcame you, and you succumbed to a deep slumber.
*
When you awoke, you found yourself in the office's sleeping quarters. Confusion laced your thoughts as you tried to gauge how long you had been asleep. As you attempted to rise, dizziness swept over you, causing you to slump back onto the mattress. A searing headache throbbed in your temples, and a tightness gripped your chest, making it slightly difficult to breathe.
Tengen entered the room and rushed to your side, concern etched on his face as he noticed your struggles. He gently entwined his fingers with yours, his thumb caressing your hand. "Nezuko-chan told me you weren't feeling well."
You managed a sheepish chuckle. "Yeah, I had a migraine from wandering in the sun for hours."
Tengen's frown deepened as he touched your forehead. "You have a fever, my love. You should go home and rest."
In a feeble attempt to dismiss his worries, you started to protest. "Don't be concerned about me. I'll be alright. There's still a lot of work to be done here."
Firmness laced his voice as he countered your argument. "No, I'm not going to let you overwork yourself. Instead, you can help us by prioritizing your health."
Knowing it was futile to continue the debate, you smiled sweetly at him. "I'm never going to win this argument, huh?"
Tengen shook his head, mirroring your smile. "Never."
With a playful pout, you couldn't help but express your longing for him. "It's just that I've been missing you all day and all week, and I was looking forward to hugging and kissing you when I came back today, but I can't because you could get sick as well."
Tengen's chuckle filled the room, his adoring gaze fixed upon you. He ruffled your hair affectionately. "I will give you all the hugs and kisses you want once you feel better. Now relax for a while longer while I grab my phone, and then let's go home, okay?"
"Okay," you replied, warmth spreading through your heart.
"Good girl," he whispered before leaning in and surprising you with a tender kiss on the lips.
Still stunned by the sudden gesture, you struggled to find your words, but your boss, your boyfriend, was already smirking at you from the doorway before making his way to his desk to gather his belongings.
A mischievous smile played on your lips as you savored the lingering taste of the kiss.
"You cheeky son of a bitch, I'll get you eventually for that one."
After Tengen brought you home and shared a comforting lunch with you, he reluctantly left to tackle the mounting workload at the office. Now, you find yourself alone in the spacious penthouse, trying to heed your boyfriend's instructions and get some much-needed rest.
Tengen had warned you sternly before leaving, with a mischievous glint in his eyes. "If I see you going about and acting recklessly, you can guarantee I'll smack your ass. So behave while I'm gone, okay?"
While the idea of Tengen's playful reprimand brought a smile to your face, you didn't want to add any more worry to his already burdened shoulders. The playful ass-slapping would have to wait for another day.
Your current focus is to support him in your own way by respecting his request to stay put and prioritizing your well-being. But being confined to the penthouse and embracing rest is a foreign concept to you.
You had grown up in an environment where constant movement and quick action were expected. Rest was often dismissed as laziness, not an essential part of the journey to success. These ingrained beliefs made it challenging for you to fully embrace the idea of relaxation.
As you sat in the living room, indulging in a tub of ice cream, memories from your past started to resurface. It has been nearly five years since you last saw your family in your hometown. The sadness you felt wasn't because of the time apart but rather because of the indifference that had settled within you. Leaving home was a necessary step for your survival. Staying there any longer would have meant a bleak fate.
Though it wasn't your fault, you couldn't help but blame yourself at times. When you moved away five years ago, it took immense strength and forgiveness to pick yourself up, move forward, and start anew.
Lost in your thoughts, Tengen's image materialized in your mind, instantly bringing a warm smile to your face. The mere thought of him moved you to tears.
Setting the ice cream aside, you wiped away the tears with a mix of laughter and self-reflection. "This is really unlike me to cry over such little things," you muttered, attempting to convince yourself.
But deep down, you knew the tears held a deeper significance. As a child, you had been a crybaby, but the adults around you had instilled the belief that shedding tears was a sign of weakness. Thus, you had learned the not-so-proud skill of suppressing your tears, even when your heart longed to let them flow freely.
With a surge of emotions still coursing through you, you grabbed your phone and typed out a heartfelt message for Tengen. Tears continued to stream down your cheeks, yet your smile remained unwavering.
After clicking the send button, you felt a sense of release, as if a weight had been lifted. It was time to follow Tengen's advice and indulge in a much-needed nap. Cleaning up your surroundings, you made your way to the bedroom, ready to surrender to the embrace of rest.
"What the fuck did you just say?"
Sanemi's voice erupted with such force that it seemed to shake the very foundation of the conference room. The pleasant and warm atmosphere that had filled the space just moments before was instantly shattered.
The faces of those present mirrored their shock and disbelief. It was incomprehensible to them what the Sound Hashira had just uttered.
Could this be some sick joke? A twisted prank meant to unsettle them?
Tengen, his face devoid of emotion, responded in a chillingly calm tone, "Don't make me repeat myself again." But before the words could fully settle, Sanemi lunged forward, grabbing Tengen by the collar and delivering a powerful blow to his face. Tengen stumbled backward, his nose gushing blood as he collapsed onto the floor.
"You traitor, don't get clever with me!" Sanemi's rage consumed him as he glared down at Tengen.
Yushiro, his eyes wide with a mix of fear and dread, couldn't help but seek confirmation. "Is it true, Tengen-san?" he asked, his voice trembling.
Tengen rose, wiping away the blood from his face, his gaze fixed on Yushiro. "It's true. Y/N was a demon in her past life."
Sanemi's anger burned brightly as he lashed out at Tengen, his words dripping with venom. "So while we were putting our lives on the line battling demons, you were off frolicking with her?! And you have the audacity to call yourself a demon slayer? A Hashira? And now you say Muzan might be resurrected? Well, Tengen, you truly are the epitome of flashiness. How fucking flamboyant of you!"
The room was filled with tension and a sense of betrayal. This wasn't how things were supposed to unfold. Tengen had intended to inform the other Hashiras about your true nature, but the demands of the Gala prevented him from finding the right moment. Unfortunately, Sanemi, of all people, overheard Tengen's conversation with Zenitsu, leading to this explosive confrontation.
Now, everyone found themselves back in the conference room, but this time, the topic was completely different—it was about you and the terrifying possibility of Kibutsuji Muzan's revival.
"Sanemi, please calm down," Kagaya intervened, attempting to diffuse the escalating tension. But his words fell on deaf ears.
"How can I calm down?! We've poured our blood, sweat, and tears into achieving this fragile peace, and now it's all at risk because of him!" Sanemi's anger seethed, his emotions boiling over.
Giyuu, though also upset by the revelation, recognized the need for unity. "But if we waste our time fighting among ourselves, we won't be able to come up with a plan to prevent it. If what Tengen said is true, the last thing we need is internal strife." His voice carried a sense of urgency, emphasizing the gravity of the situation.
Shinobu, ever curious and calculated, sought further information. "Does Y/N remember her past life?" she asked, her eyes fixed on Tengen.
"No, but she does recall her final moments before Muzan's curse took hold and claimed her life. She has occasional dreams about that day, but beyond that, I don't believe she's aware of her former self," Tengen explained, his voice tinged with a mix of sadness and uncertainty.
The room fell into a heavy silence as everyone turned to Kagaya, their hopes resting on his guidance. Fear had stealthily seeped into their veins, sending shivers down their spines. The mere possibility of having to endure that nightmarish ordeal once again was enough to paralyze them momentarily.
The stakes were higher than ever before, and the path forward was uncertain.
"What now?" Muichiro voiced out, still clad in his university uniform.
"Do what we've always done. Slay any demon that threatens mankind. And Y/N's safety will be our main priority," Kagaya reiterated, his voice filled with determination and compassion.
Sanemi, however, immediately voiced his dissent. "I'm not going to sacrifice my life for a monster," he declared, his tone resolute.
Nezuko, her eyes welling up with tears, interjected, her voice trembling. "But you sacrificed your life for me, so why is Y/N any different?" Her words carried a profound weight, challenging Sanemi's stance.
"Because unlike you, Y/N was directly under Muzan's command. She's our enemy. We should dispose of her immediately," Sanemi argued, his words sharp and unyielding.
"We are not killing Y/N. The fact that she was given a second chance at life despite her past as a demon is proof enough that she is not our enemy, but rather another victim of Kibutsuji Muzan. I will not accept any animosity towards her, Sanemi," Kagaya asserted firmly, his tone filled with conviction.
Sanemi remained resolute, his objections unwavering. "But you can't just expect me to agree to all of this, Kagaya-san," he insisted, his voice tinged with frustration and anger.
The weight of the situation and the sudden revelations proved challenging for everyone present. They had all endured countless losses at the hands of demons, and the scars ran deep. It was even more difficult for them now since they had grown fond of you and their perspective on demons and the possibility of redemption had changed.
Tengen directed his words at Sanemi, his voice carrying a mixture of curiosity and conviction. "Does she truly seem like a monster to you during the moments you spent with her?" he questioned, his gaze piercing. Then he turned to address the room at large.
"As former demon slayers, was there ever a single moment when you felt a genuine threat emanating from her? Even in the past, she was painfully aware of her sins and the life she led before turning over a new leaf. She did everything in her power to repent for her misdeeds, even aiding us in the defeat of an Upper Moon Demon. In fact, if it weren't for the intelligence she provided me, I would have perished in that battle. She played a significant role in humanity's triumph over Kibutsuji Muzan. It's an undeniable truth that you cannot ignore. Of course, if she proves to be a genuine threat to humanity, I will not hesitate to eliminate her myself. But until then, I stand by her."
Sanemi, his gaze fixed on the ground, clenched his fists tightly, his anger consuming him. He had tried to keep you out of his thoughts, to distance himself, but your presence continued to intrude upon his mind and heart.
Suddenly, a flood of memories from your time together rushed into his mind, overwhelming him with conflicting emotions.
*
"Sanemi-senpai!"
Sanemi looked up from his computer as he heard someone calling his name. It was you, his new subordinate, wearing a warm smile.
"What brought you here?" he asked, genuinely surprised by your presence.
"I just came by to give you this," you replied, handing him a video game. It was the one his younger brother had been longing for but couldn't find due to its unavailability and high price.
Sanemi's eyes widened in disbelief. "Where did you get this?" he asked, his tone filled with both astonishment and gratitude.
"I happened to be in town the other day and stumbled upon a video game shop. I remembered you mentioning that your little brother wanted this game, so I checked if they had any in stock. To my surprise, the store was owned by one of my high school friends, and she generously gave it to me for free," you explained, a genuine smile adorning your face.
Sanemi couldn't help but smile back, albeit subtly. "You really didn't have to, but thank you," he said, his voice tinged with appreciation.
"The pleasure is all mine, senpai. Consider it a thank you for helping me with the computer glitch and saving my presentation," you chuckled, reminiscing about a previous incident.
*
In the office pantry, Gyoumei crossed paths with you, his head honcho in the Finance Department. Upon noticing your presence, he decided to strike up a conversation.
"I heard it's your birthday today," he commented, his deep voice filled with warmth.
You nodded, feeling a bit nervous in the presence of such a high-ranking individual. "Yes, sir," you replied, your voice slightly timid.
"How old are you now?" he asked curiously.
"I'm 25."
"Ah, Tengen is three years older than you, isn't he? Is everything going well between you two?" Gyoumei inquired, showing a genuine interest in your relationship.
"Yes, he's been amazing," you replied, with a hint of affection in your voice.
"I'm glad to hear that. He may be a bit rambunctious, but he's a great guy. I wish you both happiness," Gyoumei expressed, offering his well-wishes.
"Thank you, and oh..." You suddenly remembered something and reached into your bag.
Gyoumei watched you with curiosity, wondering what you were up to.
"I thought now would be a good time to give you this," you said, pulling out an envelope containing a check.
"What is it?" Gyoumei asked, intrigued.
"During one of our monthly townhalls, you mentioned the charity you support regularly. I thought it would be a good idea to share my blessings with the children you're fostering, even if it's just a small amount compared to what you receive from other donors," you explained, extending the envelope towards him.
Gyoumei's eyes softened, and he smiled affectionately at you. "Any help is much welcomed, Y/N. Thank you," he expressed his gratitude before playfully ruffling your hair in a brotherly gesture.
You beamed at his response. "I'm glad," you replied sincerely, feeling a sense of fulfillment in being able to contribute in your own way.

"I got you. Just sit there and let me handle this, okay?" you reassured Tanjiro, trying to calm him down while attending to his wound. It was your first day of fieldwork, and both Giyuu and Tanjiro had joined you to explore the locations you had recommended. However, Tanjiro had stumbled and fallen into a disused fish pond, resulting in a nasty cut on his forearm. Luckily, it wasn't too severe, and he only needed some minor treatment. While waiting for the van to pick you up, you covered his wound with your scarf to minimize the bleeding.
"How are you feeling right now?" you asked, concerned.
"I'm a bit lightheaded, but otherwise, I'm fine. I'm sorry for causing all this trouble," Tanjiro apologized, wincing from both the pain and his guilt for disrupting the day.
You shook your head, offering a warm smile. "Accidents happen. Don't worry about it. You're good."
*
"You know, she's not mad at you anymore," you informed Obanai, who was standing outside your department floor. His face displayed a disinterested expression, but you could see past it and his mask.
"I have no idea what you're talking about," he replied, feigning ignorance.
"Mitsuri-chan has been sulking in the office all day, waiting for you to talk to her," you deadpanned, momentarily forgetting that you were speaking to a supervisor.
"Really?" Obanai's disinterested expression slowly softened.
"Yeah, Yushiro-kun even snapped at her because she was practically bending his ear off," you confirmed, nodding.
Obanai's demeanor continued to soften.
"It's my fault. If I had kept my cool, we wouldn't have ended up in this mess in the first place."
"Well, all you have to do is apologize. Knowing Mitsuri-chan, she'll definitely forgive you, and I'm sure she understands that you were just overwhelmed that day," you suggested.
With the business expo just a week away, everyone was on edge, trying to complete their remaining tasks. You practically camped out in the conference room for an entire day due to back-to-back meetings. Obanai, in particular, had been working tirelessly without any rest, making him unusually irritable. However, Mitsuri didn't notice and continued to laugh with him. Frustrated with the task he had yet to complete, Obanai snapped at his beloved girlfriend.
"You really should stop putting up a tough front around her," you advised him.
"What do you mean?" Obanai replied sharply.
"I mean, you should be more honest and open about your feelings with her instead of keeping everything to yourself."
"Despite being the HR Director, communication isn't exactly my strong suit," he admitted.
"Then practice!" you encouraged, offering him a smile. Obanai responded with a faint smirk.
"Aren't you getting a little too casual with your supervisor?" he retorted.
"I'm not sure what you're talking about," you replied, shaking your head innocently.
"Cheeky brat," Obanai muttered, flicking your forehead playfully, causing you to yelp in pain.
With that, he started walking away, likely returning to his office. But before he disappeared completely out of hearing range, he murmured a heartfelt thank you.
Everyone in the room was lost in their thoughts, contemplating the weight of the situation. However, Zenitsu decided to take a step forward, casting a quick glance at Tengen before addressing the group. He proclaimed, "I'm all for protecting Y/N. I will defend her not only as her friend but also as a demon slayer sworn to protect mankind from demons."
Zenitsu's declaration startled and impressed everyone. They looked at him, partly taken aback and partly inspired to see the typically flamboyant blonde so serious.
"Count me in too," Tanjiro chimed in with a smile. "I trust Uzui-san and Kagaya-san's judgment, and I believe in Y/L/N-san."
"Yeah! She bought me coffee once, so I think she passed!" Inosuke added, eliciting a faint chuckle from Tengen and catching Sanemi's attention, who still wore a sour expression.
To everyone's surprise, Obanai also stepped forward. They had expected him to be the last person to support you due to his deep hatred for demons.
"I'm in because I owe that brat a favor," Obanai stated.
"We never forsake family! We will protect Y/N!" Rengoku's words echoed through the meeting room, boosting everyone's spirits.
Gradually, everyone else agreed and pledged their allegiance.
Only the Wind Hashira, Sanemi, remained undecided.
Sanemi sighed bitterly and turned to face Tengen. He said, "If she endangers even one person, I'm coming for your head too."
Tengen simply shrugged and grinned at his dear friend. "By all means."
"As expected from my wonderful children," Kagaya interjected proudly. "But don't worry, we have already defeated Kibutsuji Muzan once, and we will defeat him again. I have faith in all of you."
Tengen bowed deeply, offering a heartfelt vow. "I will never let you down, Kagaya-sama."
"I know you won't," Kagaya replied, patting him on the back like a proud father.
With that, the room emptied, leaving only Tengen and Zenitsu behind. The impromptu meeting had come to a close, with plans set and everyone's morale boosted by the words of the Flame Hashira. However, despite the uplifting atmosphere, guilt began to gnaw at Tengen even more.
"Hey, come on, let's go." Zenitsu patted Tengen's arm gently, trying to pull him out of his self-blame.
"This is all my fault," Tengen muttered, his voice filled with guilt.
"It's not. No one saw this coming. It was a completely unexpected situation," Zenitsu sighed. "Stop blaming yourself, Tengen."
"There's no use dwelling on it. Focus your energy on protecting Y/N," he continued, hoping to get through to his friend.
"Y/N is waiting for you at home. As the Master said, we will protect her and everyone else. There's no point in dwelling on this now. Just focus your energy on protecting your loved one."
"You're right, Zenitsu. Thank you," Tengen eventually responded after a few minutes of silence, his voice filled with gratitude.
"Good boy. Now let's get you fixed up so you can go home."
Zenitsu took on the responsibility of accompanying Tengen to the infirmary, cracking jokes along the way to lighten the atmosphere, even if only for a moment.
*
Tengen sank into his office chair with a groan, feeling the weight of his stress. To find some relief, he covered his face with both hands and massaged his temples. After a moment of solitude, he decided to check his phone for any messages or missed calls.
As he scrolled through his phone, Tengen noticed a text message from you, and as he read it, tears welled up in his eyes, moistening the screen.
"Hey, my love. I just wanted to thank you for escorting me home. You didn't have to do that, but thank you. I'm resting well now, enjoying a tub of ice cream, even though it's probably not the best choice with my sore throat lol. I don't mean to catch you off guard, and I know these things should be said in person, but I want to tell you right now. Don't laugh! I just know you have an obnoxious grin on your face right now. Anyway, Thank you for everything. Your kindness, thoughtfulness, your unconditional love, and the friendship you've given me. You truly are a blessing in my life. I am incredibly lucky to have someone like you. I love you!"
Tengen gasped for air, trying to stifle his cry and covering his lips to keep it as quiet as possible. Overwhelmed by emotion, he felt a mixture of love, gratitude, and the weight of the responsibility to protect you.

[When you were still in a state of unconsciousness]
As consciousness slowly trickled back into my being, I found myself in a familiar yet disorienting state. The hazy tendrils of confusion wrapped around my thoughts as I struggled to piece together what had transpired.
Did I pass away again?
The memories seemed to dance just out of reach, taunting me with their elusive nature. Frustration gnawed at me as I grappled with the question that haunted my every waking moment.
Who am I?
The essence of my identity eluded me, slipping through the cracks of my fragmented recollections. Each attempt to recall my past yielded nothing but empty voids and fading echoes.
Desperate for clarity, I instinctively sought solace in the hope that a respite might reignite the embers of my memory. With bated breath, I closed my eyes, willing myself to relax as I had done before. Yet, as my senses reached out to grasp the familiar glimmers of remembrance, I couldn't ignore the chilling realization—the darkness around me had deepened.
Once, there had been a faint sliver of light, a glimmer of assurance that I was not lost in an abyss. But now, an oppressive blackness shrouded me, suffocating any flicker of hope. The absence of sight intensified the weight of my uncertainty, and a tremor of unease coursed through me.
Then, amidst the oppressive silence, a voice called out to me. Its desperate plea sliced through the darkness, laced with palpable anguish.
"Wake up, y/n. Please wake up."
The words carried an undertone of familiarity, tugging at the edges of my subconscious.
Y/N?
The name echoed within me, stirring a faint resonance. Could it be my name? Was it a piece of the puzzle I so desperately sought?
The sob-laden voice persisted, a poignant symphony of grief.
"Y/N, please don't leave me again." It was a plea soaked in heartache, and though I couldn't see the face that accompanied the voice, the raw emotion behind it pierced my core.
A pang of guilt swept over me, empathizing with the profound pain I had unknowingly inflicted. How could I have forgotten everything, even this person who clearly cared for me deeply?
Through choked sobs, he spoke again, attempting to veil his despair with a hint of levity. "You weren't kidding when you said your favorite hobby is sleeping, huh? Look at you, sleeping like Snow White, making me worried sick."
The strain in his voice was evident as he fought to regain composure, punctuated by occasional pauses to collect himself.
My heart ached as I absorbed his words. The weight of his worry and anguish reverberated through the darkness, forging an unbreakable connection. I yearned to comfort him, to reassure him that I hadn't intentionally caused this pain.
But in the midst of this emotional turmoil, a flicker of hope surged within me. A name, like a fleeting ember, danced at the periphery of my thoughts.
What was it again?
I clung to that fragile ember, determined to breathe life into it and reclaim my identity from the clutches of amnesia.
Think!
I implored myself, the intensity of my longing amplifying with each passing moment. The name hovered tantalizingly close, teasing me with its elusiveness. Yet, even as frustration threatened to engulf me, I refused to surrender.
*
As you strained to recall the man's name, your surroundings seemed to shift and twist, disorienting you. Your gaze darted around, and a surge of terror washed over you like a tidal wave.
"Is that massive tornado going to strike me again?" you wondered, your heart pounding in your chest. The once-calm body of water now churns and swirls, its unstable surface making it nearly impossible for you to focus. With mounting fear, you squeezed your eyes shut, tears streaming down your face, as you braced yourself against the vicious storm raging within the space around you.
Seconds later, a cacophony of voices erupted in your mind, overlapping and intertwining. With each passing moment, the chorus of sounds grew louder, driving you to the edge of sanity. Anguish consumed you, and you cried out in desperate agony, clutching your head as if trying to hold it together. You pleaded for respite, the torment pushing you to your breaking point.
"Please, make it stop. No more, please," you begged, your voice a mere whisper against the overwhelming clamor. And then, as if the world had heard your plea, the voices gradually receded, fading into a distant murmur. The pain subsided, leaving you breathless and drained.
After some time to gather yourself, you cautiously opened your eyes, only to quickly shut them again. The brightness of your new surroundings pierced through your eyelids, a stark contrast to the darkness you had just experienced. Gradually, you adjusted, and with hesitant curiosity, you ventured another glimpse.
As your eyes fluttered open, your jaw dropped, and you found yourself awestruck by your surroundings.
A girl your age stood amidst the blooming meadow, capturing your attention like a radiant flower. Your eyes widened in astonishment as you surveyed the vibrant surroundings. The meadow was awash with vivid colors, drenched in sunlight that danced through the swaying petals. And there, in the midst of this ethereal scene, stood the girl, a vision of enchantment.
With her long, flowing hair cascading in white with a subtle purple hue and her eyes shimmering in a captivating shade of lilac, she exuded an otherworldly beauty. Her smile, though faint, carried an undeniable warmth that permeated her entire being.
Yet, as your gaze studied her, an uneasiness settled within you. Something about her appearance was undeniably peculiar. Her skin resembled pure, untrodden snow, adorned with intricate markings that embellished her body. And there, visible even without her mouth fully opening, were her unmistakable fangs.
Her beauty, though breathtaking, bore an essence of the supernatural.
Immobile, she stood firm, fixated on her position, unyielding to the passage of time.
You summoned the courage to take a hesitant step forward, cautiously navigating the unknown. A sense of trepidation filled your being, as if a terrible consequence awaited any sudden movement or utterance.
"We meet again, Y/N," she said, her voice carrying an air of familiarity.
Your mind raced, trying to comprehend her words and make sense of the situation. "What—" you managed to stammer, caught off guard by this enigmatic encounter.
Intimidation radiated from her presence, evident to even the most casual observer. Instinctively, one might expect their fight-or-flight response to kick in, urging them to flee. Yet, against all logic, you felt an unusual calmness in her presence—a strange serenity that defied explanation.
"Who are you? And where am I?" You finally mustered the courage to inquire, your voice trembling despite the conflicting emotions that swirled within you.
"I am you, or rather, your former self," she replied, her words echoing through the air.
Although her response carried a certain forthrightness, it failed to satisfy your curiosity. While she revealed her connection to you, it left a void where concrete answers should have been. Sensing your bewildered expression, she understood the need to fill in the gaps and illuminate the mysterious circumstances that had brought you to this moment.
And so she began to unfold the tale of your past life, intricately weaving the threads of your previous existence with the perplexing reality that now surrounded you.
*
Initially, skepticism and suspicion gnawed at your mind, questioning the plausibility of such a grandiose tale. But as the girl's narrative unfolded, a profound resonance began to surge within you, as if your heart had found an intangible connection with her words.
Inexplicably, it felt as though your heart itself was attempting to jog your memory, desperately seeking to align itself with the fragments of your forgotten past.
In that moment, your thoughts veered back to the haunting voice that had echoed through your mind. You allowed its anguished cry to reverberate within your consciousness, each heart-wrenching plea carving deeper into your being. Tears welled up in your eyes, blurring your vision, yet you remained oblivious to the physical pain inflicted by your own nails digging into your skin, almost drawing blood in your quest for remembrance.
And then, in an instant, it clicked. Everything fell into place, as if a veil had been lifted, revealing a truth buried deep within.
Overwhelmed, you brought your trembling hands to your tear-stained face, muffling your sobs as anguish coursed through every fiber of your being. The girl before you couldn't help but smile, not out of amusement but from an empathetic understanding. She recognized the significance of this moment: the floodgates of memory were finally opening.
"I'm so fucking stupid. How could I ever forget?" you wailed, your voice muffled by the palms pressed firmly against your face, drowning in a sea of self-hatred.
"Tengen," you uttered, your voice choked with remorse and regret.
I am sorry.
I'm so sorry for not remembering. It must have been very painful.
In that shared moment of vulnerability, the weight of your forgotten past and the bittersweet relief of rediscovery mingled together, forging a bond between you and your former self, Tengen.
*
After the shocking epiphany, the girl in front of you abruptly vanished, her presence dissolving into the fabric of your being. It became clear that she was never meant to be a separate entity but rather an integral part of your own existence. Yet, in your current reincarnation, she had been separated from you, a consequence of your fragmented memories and inability to recall your past life. It was an enigmatic occurrence, one that defied comprehension, as no demon born of Kibutsuji Muzan himself had ever been granted a second life.
The exceptions were Lady Tamayo and Nezuko, who had managed to break free from Muzan's curse and elude his direct control.
As you continued to sob, consumed by the weight of your anguish, a recollection emerged from the depths of your fragmented memory. It was a conversation you had shared with him back when you sat together in a Chinese restaurant during one of your lunch breaks. You spoke of your "dreams," only to realize now that those were not mere dreams but the echoes of your final moments before perishing on that fateful night.
He had carried that remorse with him throughout his entire existence.
The realization struck you with searing clarity—his life had been marred by immense pain all along, while you remained oblivious, locked in the confines of forgetfulness.
Even in your second life, you posed a threat to humanity. The remnants of your former master resided within you, silently absorbing your life force, awaiting the opportunity to be revived and unleash havoc upon the world once more. Though your physical appearance may have changed, with your skin healthier and the fangs gone, the truth remained unalterable—you were still nothing more than a blood-sucking demon, a vessel harboring the potential for untold destruction.
[Present Time]
The cold air blew in through the balcony, sending shivers up your spine and causing you to stir from your slumber. Normally, you would just return to sleep, but after catching a glimpse of the other side of the bed and seeing it empty and frigid, sleep was the last thing on your mind.
As you sat up, the duvet fell down, practically exposing your bare skin and the imprints that decorated your body.
You searched the room for any trace of him, but you couldn't find him. However, you did notice that the French door leading to the balcony was open.
So you got up.
You scooped up your underwear from the floor and put them on before enveloping yourself in a robe.
As you entered the balcony, you spotted Tengen, who was still nude but wearing his boxers, so he wasn't actually flashing anyone. He looked to be glowing due to the fine sheen of sweat on his body. He continued to gaze out at the beautiful night view with a distant expression on his face and a drink of whiskey in his hand. He was clearly thinking about something in his head.
"Can't sleep?" You said to him as you walked towards him.
He immediately turned to you and smiled handsomely while opening his arm, inviting you to his side. Once you were snuggly hooked to his hip, he laid down his drink, dipped down, and kissed your lips, as if you hadn't been chasing each other's lips several hours ago.
Of course, you were more than happy to respond.
"Yeah, I have a lot on my mind, that's all," he answered between kisses, not in the mood to put on a brave face today.
You quickly threw your arms around his neck and drew him closer to you, gently moaning as he welcomed himself inside and expertly swirled his tongue around yours, leaving you utterly breathless.
"Tengen—"
You moaned his name as he proceeded to attack your neck again, leaving fresh batches of love bites on your already imprinted flesh.
You joyfully craned your neck to allow him more room while he gently pressed you against the glass railing and untied your robe, exposing you to almost everyone in the neighborhood. For some reason, the prospect of being caught in the act turned him on. He feels slightly smug just thinking about someone witnessing him ravish you and making you let out those sexy sounds. To him, it's a fantastic opportunity to demonstrate his dominance and make everyone aware that you belong entirely to him, and vice versa.
And it's only natural for him to showcase your beauty in front of the entire world.
The chilly wind sent shivers down your spine once more, and they became even stronger as Tengen latched onto your nipple while fondling the other with his massive hands.
He then pulled his other hand down to your crotch, causing you to flinch.
Right after he tugged your underwear down and curled his calloused fingers at your entrance, a needy moan escaped your lips. You were already so dripping wet that he could easily enter his finger with a slight nudge.
"After all the fucking we did in the jacuzzi and on the bed, you're still craving more, my love?" Tengen grinned sexily as he stared at you.
It's a good thing your robe was long, so you weren't completely exposed, but it doesn't take an expert to figure out what you're up to. Especially given the noises you were making while he was pumping his fingers in and out of your needy cunt.
"More," you panted, closing your eyes and sinking into the pleasure he was giving you.
As he listened to you pleading for him, he groaned loudly, his cock twitching from his boxers. With half-lidded eyes, you watched him dispose of his boxers, and your mouth watered as you saw his stiff cock standing tall with pre-cum leaking from the tip.
Your jaw chattered with hunger, as if you were a demon starving for blood.
Wrapping his big, strong arms around you, he took you backwards to the rattan chair, where he sat on the soft seat with you on his lap. Your juice quickly soiled his thighs, and as you started riding them, the man in front of you moaned loudly. His hold on your waist tightened as your whimpers became louder and more desperate.
In your drunken state, you managed to lean in and trail wet, sloppy kisses over his chest, taking your sweet time to admire his pecs before latching onto his nipple.
The gesture caused him to jolt sharply because the pleasure was too much for him.
You kept a watchful eye on him as you traced your tongue over his cute nipple and then over his areola. Tengen's head is thrown back, his Adam's apple bobbing, as he lets out those sweet sounds while you take charge and express your own version of dominance.
After giving both of his nipples your undivided attention, you began to drag your tongue along his collarbone and then to his fully exposed neck, which was also adorned with love bites. You went right to the juncture of his neck and sank your teeth into the skin as if you were still a demon trying to devour him.
Under normal circumstances, or if this was done to him when he hadn't met you yet, he'd find this type of play quite repulsive, but right now, as you bit into him, and because it was you, Tengen let out the sexiest groan known to man.
He was so turned on that his cock began to throb to the point of pain.
And boy, you were so lucky to be the only one who got to hear that.
You drew back to get a better look at the masterpiece you'd produced, your eyes twinkling with delight as you saw his pristine skin turn dark purple. Then your gaze shifted to his face, and, oh fuck, he's never looked so sexy.
You never imagined submission would look so good on him.
His chest continued to rise and fall vigorously, still pumped from the trip you had taken him on.
You kissed him on the lips again before straddling him.You were on your tiptoes as you aimed his cock at your entrance, and then slowly, you descended, taking as much as you could, but thanks to the lovemaking you had earlier, you didn't need much foreplay. However, you still need some time to get used to his size. Both of you gasped in unison as you engulfed him in your slick folds, your walls tightening around him almost immediately, as if they were created specifically for that reason.
When you started riding him, you forgot about your robe and your sense of seclusion. It didn't matter to you how loud the two of you were at the time or how easy it was for others, especially those in the adjoining tower, to see you bounce on his cock like a bitch in heat.
Tengen, on the other hand, was drowning in bliss.
He has one arm tightly wrapped around you to keep you from stumbling and falling, while the other is draped on the armrest as he watches you take him so well. He would periodically match your advances, causing the two of you to moan shamelessly.
From his vantage point, he could see his manhood protruding from your tummy. Each time your ass dropped, it became more visible in his field of vision. That prompted him to exert his dominance once more, with both of his hands firmly planted on your sides, gripping the flesh as he began to match your thrust more fervently.
You gradually lost control, and Tengen has been in command ever since.
*
The room was filled with a mix of sweat and satisfaction, yet neither of you had the desire to move from the cramped rattan chair. You found solace perched on top of him, your head resting on his chest.
"Hey, there's something I've been meaning to ask you," you started, your curiosity getting the better of you. "You were married before, right?"
Tengen wasted no time in responding, aware of the direction the conversation was headed. "Yes, I was married to Hinatsuru for four years."
"What about the others?" you inquired, wanting to delve deeper into his past.
"I haven't met them yet," Tengen replied, his hand gently caressing your bare back. "Well, I did catch a glimpse of Suma during one of my business trips to the countryside, but I chose not to reveal myself. While I still care for her, I believe it's best for her to lead a different life. She offered herself to me at a young age due to family traditions, but those traditions no longer need to dictate our lives in this new era. I want her to find her own path and be happy. As for Makio, I haven't seen her."
Curiosity piqued, you probed further, wanting to understand the past that shaped him. "What happened between you and Hinatsuru?"
A hint of sadness glimmered in Tengen's eyes as memories of his ex-wife resurfaced. "Some things aren't meant to last, I suppose. Remember what the tarot reader told us? Our time had come to an end. The purpose she had served in my life had been fulfilled. We tried to recreate what we once had, but it was clear that it no longer worked. So, we both made the difficult decision to part ways."
Tengen's words tugged at your heart, and a pang of guilt washed over you. "I'm sorry I couldn't keep our promise," he confessed.
Frowning, you turned to face him, seeking to understand his statement. "What promise?"
"Don't you remember?" Tengen's voice carried a mix of nostalgia and longing. "We vowed that all five of us would find happiness together in our next life."
Ah, that promise. A faint smile played on your lips as you gently cupped his face, planting a chaste kiss on his lips. "Indeed, we made that vow," you acknowledged. "But..."
Pausing for a moment, you gathered your thoughts, your fingers delicately brushing away strands of hair that obscured his face. Tengen's eyes fluttered closed, savoring the intimacy you both shared.
"They've already had their time with you," you finally said, a hint of determination in your voice. "Now, it's my turn. Call me selfish, but I can't imagine sharing you with anyone else. You're mine, Tengen, and mine alone, just as I am yours."
Silence settled in the room after your heartfelt words, causing a slight unease to creep over you. The fear of unintentionally hurting Tengen with your confession gnawed at your thoughts. But then, after a few tense seconds, Tengen's eyes fluttered open, and he locked his gaze with yours. Following your lead, he reached out, his fingers tenderly caressing your face and drawing you closer until your lips met once again in a familiar dance of passion.
You remained still, savoring the languid kiss as Tengen gently urged you to reciprocate. Eventually, you both parted, peering into each other's eyes, where love and adoration gleamed brightly.
"Frankly, if we were granted a third life," Tengen spoke softly, his voice laced with sincerity, "I would choose to spend it with you again. A single lifetime will never be enough for me if it means being by your side, y/n."
A mixture of joy and disbelief tugged at your heart, and you fought to suppress the widest grin threatening to spread across your face. But your attempt proved futile, as Tengen's own warm smile mirrored your excitement.
"Really?" you managed to utter, your voice tinged with excitement.
"Absolutely," Tengen affirmed, his voice filled with conviction. "At this point, I can confidently say that I love you more than anyone else I have ever loved."
His bold confession washed over you, leaving you momentarily speechless. "Tengen," you breathed, caught off guard by the depth of his feelings.
Unperturbed, he simply shrugged and displayed his trademark grin—the one that had captivated your heart from the very beginning. "I've always been possessive and despise sharing. I made that clear when we first started dating, didn't I?"
Memories of the Business Expo flooded your mind—the night when you too had voiced your aversion to sharing.
A smirk curled on your lips as you playfully quoted another statement he had made that night. "Nice to know we're still on the same page."
In that moment, the connection between you deepened, strengthened by the realization that your desires and intentions remained aligned.

In light of the incident that occurred involving you, Kagaya made the decision to postpone the gala, prioritizing your safety above all else. You couldn't help but feel guilty, as if you were burdening everyone around you. However, Kagaya quickly dismissed your remorse, assuring you that you had nothing to apologize for.
"Y/N, you're not to blame," Kagaya emphasized, his voice filled with genuine concern. "You're no longer the person you were when you first joined Kibutsuji Muzan. Now, you're one of us, and we'll do everything in our power to protect you."
Those were the words he spoke to you during your summons to his office.
It was a rare opportunity to have a private conversation with Kagaya, as he commended you for your remarkable contributions to the organization's cause. And, of course, as one of his precious children, he wanted to check up on you. Surprisingly, he also expressed curiosity about your relationship with the Sound Hashira.
You couldn't help but be taken aback by the realization that even your esteemed boss enjoyed indulging in a bit of gossip. It was a cute side of him you hadn't expected, although given the diverse personalities among your coworkers, perhaps you shouldn't have been so surprised.
Your gaze wandered through the bustling sales and marketing department. Observing everyone diligently going about their tasks, you couldn't help but feel a pleasant warmth spreading through your being.
And then your eyes landed on your boss.
Tengen sat at his desk, engrossed in a video conference with an offshore vendor. Unable to contain your amusement, you chuckled softly as he discreetly rolled his eyes, clearly frustrated with whoever was on the other end of the call.
As the renowned Sound Hashira caught the scent of your delightful laughter, he turned his gaze towards you, momentarily diverting his attention from the laptop screen. It was as if he wanted to ensure he wouldn't be caught in the act of what he was about to do.
When the timing was right, he jokingly quipped, "Back to work."
You knew he was teasing, but you decided to play along, mouthing the words, "Stop glaring at the client."
Tengen kept his eyes fixed on you, a mischievous twinkle in his gaze, and he playfully winked like an idiot when you motioned for him to refocus on the meeting. Just then, Zenitsu turned to Tengen, delivering a playful whack on his head and muttering under his breath, "What the hell are you doing?" He quickly muted his microphone to prevent the client from overhearing the exchange.
Choosing to let your dorky boyfriend focus on his work, you took a break and headed to the cafeteria to grab another cup of coffee and your favorite sandwich. As you strolled down the corridor, you spotted Sanemi approaching the same destination. Eager to catch up with him, you skipped forward and wrapped your arms around his.
"Heya," you said cheerfully.
Sanemi snorted, a familiar gesture for acknowledging your presence, and playfully squeezed your nose in response.
Your relationship with Sanemi had significantly improved following the incident and the revelation that you were related. He had fully embraced his role as your big brother, and the bond between you had grown stronger. Last week, he invited you and Tengen to have dinner at his residence. The revelation that you were his cousin and big sister had brought immense joy to Genya, and Sanemi's mother had warmly welcomed you, even offering apologies on behalf of her sister. Despite meeting you only once, she had shown remarkable kindness and compassion.
The overwhelming sense of belonging during that dinner brought tears of joy to your eyes. It had been a long time since you had felt such warmth and acceptance, a feeling that could easily move anyone in your shoes to tears.
Observing you prepare a cup of coffee, Sanemi's eyes narrowed in concern. "Have you been drinking enough water?" he asked.
You chuckled, holding up the cup. "Of course, why do you ask?"
"Every time I see you in the pantry area, all you do is make coffee or eat those sandwiches," Sanemi pointed out, a hint of worry in his voice.
"Ah, coffee is my lifeline, Senpai," you joked, "and the sandwiches here are too good to resist."
"Always with your caffeine fix," Sanemi grumbled. "And during company dinners, you consume way too much soda. Remember to drink water, okay?"
You smiled, reassuring him. "Don't worry about me. I have a tumbler on my desk, and I make sure it's always filled with water for when I'm working."
Sanemi's frown softened, and a small grin formed on his lips. "That's good to hear. So, what's Tengen up to right now?"
You chuckled, knowing exactly what he meant. "Oh, he's in a meeting with an offshore client. They've been at it for two hours, and he's starting to get frustrated."
"Well, anyone would be, to be honest. I can't stand meetings," Sanemi admitted, his chuckle mirroring your own. "Luckily for me, I work in the IT department, so I rarely have to attend them."
"Same here, but I oddly enjoy taking meeting minutes. There's something satisfying about typing away on my laptop or tablet," you confessed.
Sanemi grumbled, his tone tinged with annoyance. "I dread taking meeting minutes, especially when it's Obanai who's demanding them. That guy is impossible to please. I have no idea what Mitsuri sees in him."
You chuckled at his comment. "That's not very nice, you know."
"Don't tell him that; he might retaliate by delaying my paycheck," Sanemi quipped with a mischievous smirk on his face.
"Don't worry, Senpai, your secret is safe with me," you assured him, returning his smirk.
Sanemi nodded, a sense of camaraderie evident. "Atta girl."
Choosing to be thoughtful, you made a cup of coffee for Tengen while preparing your own. Sanemi temporarily left your side to grab a bottle of water and his favorite fitness granola bar.
As you walked back to your floor, Sanemi offered to carry the drinks, considering it might be difficult for you to balance two cups of hot coffee and a few sandwiches for your boyfriend.
"Has Kocho given you any updates on your surgery?" Sanemi asked.
"Yes, I'll be confined to her clinic on Thursday, and she'll conduct the operation on Friday," you replied.
Sanemi observed the change in your demeanor and shifted his attention to your wisteria pendant. "Are you nervous?"
"Who wouldn't be?" you chuckled sheepishly. "It's one thing to undergo major surgery, but it's quite another to have one that could determine the fate of mankind."
Sanemi couldn't argue with your point, and he remained silent for the rest of your journey back to your office. Finally, when you reached the door, he spoke up again, his voice filled with determination.
"Should things go south, just know that we won't allow him to win. Tengen will be there to protect you, I'll be there, and so will everyone else. We won't let him trample all over us again."
"Thank you, Sanemi-senpai," you said, expressing your gratitude. "And don't worry, even if it's the last thing I do, I won't let him take control of my body."
"You don't have to call me Senpai anymore, y/n; just Sanemi-niisan is fine," he replied with adoration.
"Okay, Sanemi-niisan." You mirrored his smile, though yours was smaller.
"Atta girl."
Sanemi excused himself after escorting you back to your desk, as he had a lot of tasks to attend to. Tengen had finished his meeting, so he was free for the rest of the day. Approaching him, you handed him a cup of coffee as a reward for his hard work.
The rest of the day went smoothly, and despite having every reason to be happy and safe, the fear in your heart had grown significantly. It had become increasingly difficult to put aside.
Time seemed to pass both slowly and quickly, and before you knew it, Friday had arrived. You found yourself lying in a hospital bed, waiting for the anesthesia to take effect.

You step into the office, finally back at work after being sick for a week, and a sense of joy fills you. The time spent at home resting was enjoyable, but you've missed seeing everyone, so waking up this morning brought a surge of happiness.
Who would have thought that there would come a day when you eagerly looked forward to going to work?
However, as soon as you step inside, a strange atmosphere envelopes the office. Though you're not particularly perceptive, you can sense the tension lingering in the air. There's an unspoken unease that seems to be affecting everyone. Additionally, you're still puzzled by Tengen's bloody nose a few nights ago.
He claimed it was an accident—that he tripped and fell while walking home, which also explained his lateness. Part of you remains skeptical of his explanation, but for now, you decide to let it be, giving him the space to open up when he's ready while doing your best to support him, just as he supports you.
On a brighter note, during your absence, Yushiro and Nezuko managed to find a venue for the gala, and it happens to be one of your recommendations. While Tengen and Zenitsu are out in the field, you're at the office attending to other tasks, grateful to be reunited with your friends.
Nezuko's voice echoes from behind you, breaking your train of thought. "Hey, Y/N-chan, want to go out for lunch?"
Turning to face her, your smile widens, and you reply, "Sure, where are we going?"
"Yushiro-kun is still searching for a good place. Is there something specific you're craving?" Nezuko asks.
"Hmm... I've been in the mood for some ramen," you answer, causing a smile to grace Nezuko's face.
"Ramen it is! Let me inform Yushiro-kun," she says, waving at you before hurrying over to Yushiro to relay the plan of finding a good ramen restaurant.
Meanwhile, you refocus your attention on the task at hand, frowning as you encounter a technical issue with your computer. No matter how many times you refresh the screen, it remains frozen. Despite attempting several damage control measures, the problem persists, eliciting a frustrated groan from you.
"Ugh, I'll have to call the IT team again," you grumble in annoyance.
Realizing there's little else you can do at the moment, you decide to leave your computer and head to the restroom before meeting up with Nezuko and Yushiro for lunch.
"Did something happen while I was away?" you ask, noticing the uncertainty in Yushiro and Nezuko's expressions as they exchange glances.
Kagaya had specifically instructed everyone to avoid discussing anything about your past life as a demon or any potential triggers related to Muzan's curse. They were concerned that such information might overwhelm you or activate the curse itself.
"What do you mean?" Yushiro replies, trying to play it off casually.
"Well, when I arrived this morning, I sensed a tense atmosphere among everyone," you explain.
"Oh, that? We just had a minor setback with one of our investors. Given that the Gala is approaching, it's a significant blow for us," Yushiro explains, trying to downplay the situation.
"What happened, exactly?"
"There's no need to worry," Yushiro assures you. "Our visions simply didn't align anymore, so Kagaya-san decided to part ways with that investor."
"I see... It's hard to believe something like that happened."
"We were all taken aback as well," Nezuko chimes in. "But dwelling on it won't change anything, right?"
You nod, mirroring Nezuko's smile. It's reassuring to have their support and see their optimistic perspective.
Yushiro then asks about your well-being, concerned for your health. "How are you feeling now?"
"I still have some lingering queasiness, but it's not enough to keep me from working," you respond honestly.
To be honest, Tengen was initially against the idea of you returning to work so soon, aware that you're not completely recovered. However, you managed to persuade him, and he gave you strict instructions to take it easy for the next few days.
"That's an order from your boss," he had said, attempting to sound authoritative but only managing to make you smile. It's clear that being imposing isn't exactly his style.
Deep down, you've begun to suspect that he has an office kink.
"Well, I'm glad you're feeling better now; we missed you!" Nezuko exclaims, her heartfelt confession warming your heart.
"I missed you guys too," you chuckle. "I was bored to death at home. It was fun at first, having the freedom to do whatever I wanted, but it quickly became monotonous."
"At least Tengen-san was there to take care of you while he was at home," Nezuko remarks.
"Yeah, I'm grateful to him, but I also can't help feeling guilty. He's already so busy, and yet he still takes care of me," you say, a smile on your face.
"Oh, don't be silly! He's already quite attentive to you in general, so I'm sure he enjoyed pampering you while you were sick," Nezuko reassures you.
"I suppose you're right," you reply, feeling a sense of gratitude for Tengen's care and attention during your illness.
Tengen had been incredibly attentive and caring during the days you were sick. He made it his mission to fulfill your every need. From cooking divine meals to spending his entire day off cleaning the penthouse, he made sure you were surrounded by comfort and love. Despite your protests, he showered you with hugs and kisses, assuring you that he wouldn't get sick because he was taking his vitamins. Being spoiled by your amazing boyfriend made you almost wish your fever would never go away.
The lunch hour passed quickly since you had important tasks to attend to. You still need to submit your computer to the IT team for inspection. As you were walking back with Yushiro and Nezuko, you felt your phone vibrating in your pocket.
It was Tengen.
Signaling to Yushiro and Nezuko to continue without you, you sat down on a nearby bench and answered his call.
"Hey," you greeted him.
"Hey, just checking in to see how you're doing," Tengen's voice came through the phone.
A wide grin spread across your face upon hearing his voice. "I'm alright. I just had lunch with Yushiro-kun and Nezuko-chan. Have you eaten yet?"
"Not yet. Our appointment with the architect took longer than expected, and now we're stuck in traffic on our way back."
"You should have brought snacks with you, so you could at least have something to eat," you suggested.
"Yeah, I know. I'm honestly starving right now." You could hear the pout in his voice.
Despite feeling sorry for him, your smile grew warmer. "Do you want me to get you something so you can eat it right away when you come back?"
"I'd appreciate that."
"Anything for you, my love," you replied with affection.
You exchanged a few more words, catching up on each other's days, until it was time to say goodbye as your lunch break was ending.
"Hey, I have to go now. I need to head to the IT department to get my computer inspected again."
"Why? What happened?" Tengen's expression immediately turned into a frown upon hearing you mention the IT department. He was concerned about the possibility of you encountering Sanemi, unsure of how he would react upon seeing you.
"The computer crashed just as I was finishing up my presentation."
"You can use my computer, and I'll have someone check on yours when I return."
You hummed in thought. "I guess I could do that."
"I won't be using mine today anyway. I have a meeting with Rengoku and Giyuu after lunch."
"Alright, I'll inform Sanemi-senpai or Inosuke-kun then. I have to go now, Tengen. See you later!"
"Y/N, wait—!" Tengen's voice trailed off, but you had already ended the call, leaving him with unfinished words.
Tengen had intended to say something more, but you ended the call abruptly, leaving him with unfinished words.
"Do you think she'll be okay?" Zenitsu asked, his face filled with concern.
Tengen looked at Zenitsu, sharing his worry. "I can only hope Sanemi doesn't say or do anything stupid. If he genuinely cares about everyone's safety, he should keep his mouth shut. And if he dares to harm Y/N, I'll be the first one after him."
The Sound Hashira sighed and turned his attention to the window, frustrated by the traffic.
*
You knocked on the door of the IT department and entered. Immediately, you scanned the room for either Sanemi or Inosuke, but neither of them was present. You approached the office secretary to inquire about their whereabouts, and she informed you that Inosuke was on leave while Sanemi was in a meeting with Gyoumei and Obanai.
"I guess I'll come back later," you said, thanking the secretary for the information.
Continuing with your day, you decided to grab a cup of coffee before returning to your desk. Heading to the pantry for a much-needed caffeine boost, you nearly dropped your cup when a booming voice came from behind you.
"Oh, if it isn't Y/N."
"Oh, my God!" you exclaimed, startled by the sudden voice. After regaining your composure, you realized it was Gyoumei approaching the pantry table with his own mug.
"Sorry for scaring you," he chuckled.
"It's fine. Are you done with your meeting with Sanemi-senpai?" you asked.
"Yup, it was just a brief catch-up conference with one of our sponsors," he replied, brewing his own coffee.
"How are things going, senpai?"
"They've already dispatched the units, and they should arrive in two months."
"I'm glad to hear that. The last time I spoke with Sanemi-senpai, he was concerned about it," you said, recalling the amusing encounter with him.
Gyoumei laughed. "When I offered him coffee, he said he'd rather have a drink of bourbon."
Gyoumei chuckled warmly, though his smile didn't quite reach his eyes. As he listened to you speak fondly of Sanemi, he couldn't help but recall the events that took place in Kagaya's personal conference room a week ago.
"Speaking of Sanemi-senpai, where is he? I need to talk to him. Is he still in the conference room?" you asked.
Gyoumei hesitated, unsure of whether he should tell you the truth. He wasn't certain if Sanemi would still treat you the same way or if he would snap at you.
"Yeah, I believe so. He had another appointment with a client, but I think he should be done by now. What do you want to tell him? I can relay the message for you if you want," Gyoumei offered, feeling a bit uneasy.
"Oh, no, it's fine. I'll talk to him myself. But thank you anyway, senpai!"
After bidding Gyoumei farewell, you quickly returned to your floor, eager to complete your work. You were almost halfway through your presentation and just needed to make a few changes based on Tengen's request earlier that morning.
On your way to Sanemi's office to discuss your faulty computer, you decided to go the extra mile and fetch him some coffee. You knew he would appreciate the caffeine boost after two consecutive meetings.
"Sanemi-senpai!" you called out when you spotted him in the hallway.
Sanemi paused, contemplating whether to entertain you or not give you the time of day. But before he could respond, you were standing in front of him, handing him his favorite iced coffee.
"For you, senpai. I thought you could use the caffeine," you said cheerfully.
"What do you want? I'm busy," he replied, his tone abrupt and harsh.
His sudden abrasiveness caught you off guard, causing you to take a step back.
"Oh, um, I wanted to talk to you about my computer. It's been acting up," you explained.
"And you couldn't ask the secretaries downstairs?"
Sanemi looked at you with intimidating eyes, a far cry from the warmth you were accustomed to, leaving you completely taken aback. Despite feeling hurt by his response, you still apologized.
"I did, but she recommended I come to you. I'm sorry for bothering you."
Seeing how startled and scared you looked, Sanemi's heart broke and ached.
Even more so because he knew he was the cause of your distress.
He immediately regretted speaking to you in that manner and wished he could punch himself for being so foolish.
Sanemi now sees and treats you as his little sister after eight months of working together. However, when he discovered that you were once a demon in your previous life, his world turned upside down. As much as he adores you, accepting the fact that you were once a blood-sucking creature preying on the living is challenging for him.
In some ways, he feels deceived. But as Tengen and his own heart have reminded him, you are a completely different person now. He has spent enough time with you to know better than to impose his outdated beliefs and your past identity on you. If the gods and goddesses have granted you a second chance at life, who is he to deny you that?
What matters now is that you are alive and well. Instead of dwelling on the past, he should do everything in his power to keep you safe from harm.
Sanemi took a deep breath to center himself, closing his eyes briefly. When he opened them again, the hostility had vanished, replaced by a melancholic expression.
"I'm sorry. It was rude of me to lash out at you like that. I was having a bad day," he apologized sincerely.
You stood there feeling a mix of relief and uncertainty, not sure how to respond after being hurt by his previous outburst. You don't appreciate being spoken to in such a manner, as it brings up unpleasant memories.
"It's okay, I understand," you replied, still feeling a bit nervous in his presence.
Sanemi gestured toward the iced coffee you had prepared for him and said sheepishly, "Can I still have that?"
"Of course," you said, mirroring his smile and handing him the cool drink.
Just as he was about to take it from you, a searing pain shot through your stomach, causing you to slump over and drop the drink.
"Y/N!" Sanemi caught you in his arms, the force causing both of you to tumble to the floor.
"Hey, what's the matter? Y/N—hey!" he called out in concern.
Everything happened so quickly. The once-quiet corridor now resounded with your agonizing screams.
"I NEED HELP! IS SOMEONE THERE?!" Sanemi shouted, hoping that someone would hear him and come to your aid.
"It hurts—" you attempted to say, but the pain was so intense that uttering a single syllable was a struggle.
Unbeknownst to you, you were spitting out blood, staining Sanemi's perfectly pressed dress shirt.
"Y/N? Wait a second, okay? I'm going to call for help. Just hold on a little longer, okay? Stay with me." Sanemi tried his hardest to remain composed as he cradled you in his arms and retrieved his phone from his pocket.
While he murmured words of encouragement, he felt something move inside you.
Sanemi dialed Tengen's number with trembling hands, desperation evident in his voice. "Why isn't he answering!?"
"What the hell happened here?!" Giyuu walked in, his eyes widening in shock when he saw your bloody body writhing in Sanemi's arms.
"We were just talking when she suddenly started screaming in pain and coughing up blood. She—Y/N needs help! Call the fucking ambulance and get Shinobu here quickly!" Sanemi's voice trembled as he struggled to speak.
They wasted no time and rushed you to the elevator, Giyuu calling out to Shinobu while Sanemi carried you, whispering soothing words to keep you awake.
"No matter what happens, don't close your eyes. You hear me? Just hold on a little longer," he said, turning his attention back to you.
"Where is Tengen?" Giyuu asked urgently.
"I don't fucking know! I tried reaching him, but he's not answering!"
"For now, let's focus on getting Y/N to the infirmary," Giyuu said, his face filled with deep concern as he feared for your life.
Thankfully, you had stopped screaming, but the sight of you in pain was heart-wrenching. They arrived at the infirmary and wasted no time getting you settled on one of the beds.
Sanemi observed you closely and noticed how much skinnier and paler you had become in such a short period of time. It seemed like you were on the verge of passing out.
"Keep your eyes open, Y/N. Whatever happens, don't close them. Don't you dare pass out on me!"
"Giyuu said Shinobu is on her way," Sanemi informed, his voice filled with both hope and worry.
Sanemi kept a firm hold on your hand, praying for your swift recovery. Giyuu excused himself momentarily to inform the others about what had happened.
From your perspective, everything was a haze. You couldn't discern who was speaking to you, but you knew there were multiple people present. As you opened your mouth to speak, no words came out.
Sanemi winced at the scratchiness in your voice, but he was relieved that you were still conscious. He made gentle shushing noises, urging you not to talk for the time being to avoid exacerbating your discomfort.
"Don't worry, Shinobu is on her way, and Tengen hasn't called back yet, but I'm sure he'll rush here once he hears what happened."
As you stared at him, Sanemi noticed your fully dilated eyes, as if you had been injected with some strange drug.
"S-Sane—"
"Shh... don't talk too much, okay? I'm here. I won't leave you until I know you're safe, Y/N," Sanemi whispered, brushing your hair gently.
With the little strength you had left, you reached out to him and wiped away the tears streaming down his cheeks. Despite your successful gesture, Sanemi's tears only flowed more as he watched you comfort him.
"Idiot, I should be the one comforting you right now, you know?" he chuckled, his voice choked with emotion.
You mustered a tired smile in response to his remark.
"I know you're exhausted, but try to stay awake until help arrives, okay? Who knows what might happen if you fall asleep now?" Sanemi urged, squeezing your hand.
You nodded your head, eliciting a brotherly smile from him. "Atta girl."
*
You mustered all your strength to stay awake for over an hour while Shinobu ran tests and examined you more closely in her clinic.
Tengen had finally arrived, his phone having died earlier, causing him to miss Sanemi's call. When he learned what had happened to you, he was overwhelmed with distress. He felt immense guilt for not being able to help you in any way, as he believed he had let you down once again.
He couldn't help but feel that he had failed you repeatedly.
Shinobu continued to provide the necessary medical care and evaluation while Sanemi, Giyuu, Zenitsu, and Kagaya waited outside, anxious for any updates.
"She'll be fine. Have faith in her," Sanemi reassured Tengen, who seemed lost in his own thoughts.
"I failed her again," Tengen murmured, his gaze vacant.
"It's not your fault," Giyuu softly interjected.
Tengen nodded, acknowledging Sanemi's words and understanding that dwelling in self-pity would serve no purpose.
"Thank you for saving her," Tengen finally expressed, gratitude evident in his voice.
"If only you could see how scared shitless I was," Sanemi chuckled wearily. "If anyone deserves recognition, it's Giyuu. I hate to admit it, but he handled everything much better than me."
"But even if you despised what she was, you were still there for her," Tengen began, but Sanemi interrupted him.
"I don't hate her; I never have," Sanemi clarified. "That was just me being stupid and unable to move on."
"I can understand that, but thank you for putting your faith in her," Tengen replied, turning to face his friend with a faint smile gracing his lips.
Sanemi simply shrugged, a faint smirk appearing on his lips. "Once she's recovered, you can bet she'll get an earful from me for putting me through hell."
Tengen snickered in response. "Count me in."

"How long do you intend to play Sleeping Beauty, Y/N?"
Tengen's voice cut through the silence of your private hospital room, its relatively deep timbre carrying a touch of impatience. His attempt at cheerfulness was forced, a feeble mask for his true feelings.
In truth, he had mentally berated himself countless times during the past four days while waiting for you to wake up. He felt an overwhelming sense of failure, blaming himself for not being able to protect you.
How unflashy and pitiful he seemed to himself.
Four days had passed since the dreadful incident, and while everyone was relieved that you had survived, their worry for your well-being was palpable. Your vital signs seemed strong, and physically, you appeared to be in good health.
However, during the battery of tests performed on you, Shinobu noticed an abnormal lump in your breast area. Initial thoughts suggested it could be a tumor, but considering the circumstances, they could only speculate that it was Muzan's cells that had somehow remained dormant within you.
Apart from Sanemi's observations while tending to you, no one could offer any concrete information. They couldn't definitively confirm his claim, as he might have been in a complete trance during the incident. Yet they refused to dismiss the possibility entirely, as your existence or potential reincarnation was, in itself, an enigmatic concept.
At this point, anything seemed possible.
So, despite your apparent physical health, you were not yet out of the woods. The most plausible explanation, according to Shinobu, was that Kibutsuji Muzan was still alive, possibly residing within you and draining your life force from within. The evidence supporting this theory was strong, given the blood transfusions you required due to severe blood loss as well as the rapid decline of several vital organs on that fateful day.
It was as if you were pregnant with a demon child.
Thus, the plan was for you to undergo surgery. The goal was to remove the lump and dispose of it before it could fully mature. While Shinobu had never performed such a delicate procedure before, there was a first time for everything, or so they believed.
To say that Tengen was terrified for your life would be the gravest of understatements. The depth of his fear was immeasurable; his concern for you consumed his every thought.
Tengen's attention snapped to Sanemi's voice as he entered the room. "Still fast asleep, huh?" The words hung in the air, drawing Tengen's focus.
"Like a baby," Tengen replied, a halfhearted chuckle escaping his lips in an attempt to lighten the heavy atmosphere.
Sanemi settled in, busying himself with replacing the withered flowers in the vase with fresh ones. "By the way, Kanae sends her regards; she's still overseas, so she can't visit," he informed Tengen.
"It's okay; please tell her I appreciate the flowers," Tengen responded, his gaze never wavering from your small, slumbering figure on the bed. The worry etched into Sanemi's eyes did not go unnoticed.
"When is the operation?" Sanemi asked, his concern palpable.
"There's no formal date yet," Tengen sighed, his voice tinged with a mix of apprehension and longing. "Shinobu suggested we wait for her to regain consciousness. That way, we can inform her about the surgery and ensure she knows she'll be completely safe."
"I see." Sanemi nodded, his gaze lingering on you. "But I'm glad to see the colors have returned to her face. She looked like a corpse the last time I saw her." He winced, realizing the harshness of his words. "Sorry, I shouldn't have said it like that."
"You're saying that now?" Tengen deadpanned, a hint of amusement laced in his tone.
Sanemi cleared his throat, trying to lighten the mood. He handed Tengen something and explained, "Obanai found this in the office lobby. He says it's Y/N's."
Tengen recognized it instantly—a necklace with a pendant.
"How fitting for her to wear a pendant with wisteria blossoms carved on it," Sanemi remarked, observing Tengen as he delicately placed the necklace around your neck.
"Right?" Tengen agreed softly, a mixture of emotions flickering across his face. His brow furrowed as he struggled to fasten the necklace, unaware that you were beginning to stir. It wasn't until you emitted a small grunt that he realized you were awakening.
Tengen immediately recoiled, a surge of worry coursing through him, fearing that he might have caused you discomfort.
"Y/N?" Tengen called out, his voice laced with concern.
"Wait—I'll fetch Kocho," Sanemi swiftly responded, rushing out of the room to summon Shinobu. As he hurried towards her office, tears welled up in his eyes, his heart brimming with relief.
Thank goodness!
You struggled to open your eyes, the intensity of the room's lights overwhelming your senses. However, Tengen's towering figure provided a shield, blocking most of the brightness. It didn't take long for your eyes to adjust and meet his gaze.
Tengen sat on your bed, his care and concern evident as he gently held one side of your face, studying you intently. "Y/N? How are you feeling? Do you feel any pain?" he inquired, his voice filled with genuine worry.
"Everything has finally come back to me," you responded, your voice carrying a sense of familiarity that puzzled Tengen. But as he looked into your eyes, he comprehended your words. Understanding flooded his expression, and he pulled you into an embrace, momentarily forgetting about your healing process. It was the tightest, warmest hug he had ever given you.
You returned the embrace, your giggle escaping softly. As you held him tightly, you felt the subtle tremble in his shoulders, a sign that he was crying. "I'm sorry for keeping you waiting and causing you so much pain, Tengen," you whispered, genuine remorse coloring your words.
"No, I should be apologizing to you; you did nothing wrong," Tengen replied between sniffles, his embrace growing tighter. "But I'm so happy you finally remember."
"You, too, did nothing wrong, my love; please don't blame yourself," you reassured him, his grip on you unwavering.
Tengen eventually pulled away from the hug, his eyes bloodshot from tears, and his cheeks and nose flushed. You couldn't help but find him absolutely adorable in that moment.
"You would not have died if I hadn't pursued you before," Tengen lamented, his voice filled with regret.
"We wouldn't be able to meet and be together today if I hadn't died that day," you responded firmly, cupping his face and gently wiping away his tears.
"It was entirely my decision to sacrifice myself that night, Tengen; you did nothing wrong. I wanted to atone for the misdeeds I committed while I was still a demon. I wanted to help you with your cause, so don't believe even for a second that you caused my demise. All you did was love and care for me," you reassured him, your voice filled with conviction.
Tengen buried his face once more in your embrace, his tears flowing quietly. You tried to console him, caressing his back and whispering sweet words. After a few moments of stillness, he spoke again, his voice shaky yet determined, "I heard you that night."
"Hmm?" you responded, curious.
"I heard you loud and clear when you said you loved me on that mountaintop," he confessed, his tone filled with a mix of longing and playfulness.
"Well, you are the Sound Hashira," you chuckled, fondly recalling that moment.
Tengen grumbled, a hint of mock annoyance in his voice, "You could've said it when I was still at your side, you know."
"Are we really talking about this now?" you teased, a smile playing on your lips.
"I love you," Tengen declared, his gaze locking with yours as he captured your lips in a sweet kiss.
When you returned his gaze, you swore you saw an entire universe twirling around in his eyes, the depth of his love for you shining through.
"I love you too, Tengen," you whispered tenderly, sealing the affirmation with another heartfelt kiss, solidifying the unbreakable bond between you.
*
Tengen settled himself comfortably on your bed as the wait for Shinobu continued. Fortunately, there was enough space for both of you. Sanemi, sitting by your bedside, informed you that Shinobu was currently performing intricate surgery on one of her patients and wouldn't be able to see you for some time.
Understanding the reasons behind Sanemi's previous harshness, you spoke up, addressing the Wind Hashira, "Now I understand why you were so harsh to me on that day, Sanemi-senpai."
He shook his head, smiling warmly at you. "That's all in the past. I forgive you."
"Thank you," you replied, genuine gratitude in your voice.
"You still owe me coffee, though, because you scared the living daylights out of me and damaged my newly bought dress shirt," Sanemi joked, to which you playfully responded, "Don't worry, once I get discharged, coffee is on me, senpai."
"Why don't you just ask Giyuu to get you coffee?" Tengen chimed in, his tone laced with amusement as he side-eyed Sanemi.
"As if he'd actually buy me anything," Sanemi snorted dismissively.
"He did buy me a slice of cake once," you shared, causing both Tengen and Sanemi to look at you wide-eyed. "During one of our field days, Giyuu bought me a slice of strawberry shortcake because he noticed me gazing at it. He insisted it was his belated welcome present to me."
"Oh, so that fool can be pleasant and kind as well?" Sanemi remarked, surprised by the revelation.
"He's always been kind to me, and he even helped me with my presentation," you added, turning to Tengen. "Remember the layout you loved so much? It was actually Giyuu-senpai's idea, and I simply adapted it to your taste."
"You should thank him, for he also helped in your rescue because Sanemi was too scared to move," Tengen teased with a playful smirk on his face.
"You would be too if you were in my position!" Sanemi retorted, glaring at Tengen, though their banter held no true animosity.
"I will, and Sanemi-senpai," you smiled, turning to face him, "thank you."
"Anyone could've done the same thing, but you're welcome," Sanemi responded, slightly flustered, and pretended to fix his hair.
"Oh, and by the way, we already replaced your old computer with a new one since it was infested with a virus," Sanemi added, providing an update.
"Seriously? So that explains it. Thank you, Senpai."
You spent most of the day conversing and catching up with each other while waiting for Shinobu. As you exchanged stories, you couldn't help but wonder what you had missed while sleeping and what truly happened to you.
But when they mentioned the possibility that your former master, Kibutsuji Muzan, might still be alive and residing within you, your heart froze, unable to fully comprehend the information. It explained the nightmares you had been experiencing and the random chest pains.
"I think you're right," you murmured, gazing down at your hands. "I once had a dream where he was there."
"Was it the dream you mentioned to me a few months ago?" Tengen asked, seeking clarification.
"Yeah, and to be honest, I don't think we can call it a dream anymore. It felt like he was directly communicating with me in my psyche," you admitted grimly, turning to them with regret in your eyes. "I'm sorry for putting your lives in danger."
"No, it's not your fault. No one saw this coming, not even you, so don't blame yourself. It's pointless to assign blame now. Let's focus our energy on finding a solution before it worsens," Sanemi interjected, shaking his head.
"Are you talking about the operation?" you inquired, needing clarification.
Tengen nodded, still apprehensive about the entire situation. "Yes. Once Shinobu arrives, she'll examine you once more before you can go home."
"Oh, I see..." you replied, your mind filled with a mixture of trepidation and determination.
Despite your complete faith in your companions, a lingering sense of fear and nervousness gnaws at you, hinting at the gravity of the challenges ahead.
This unprecedented situation has everyone treading uncertain ground, navigating through uncharted waters with improvisation as their guide.
"I may not know how to wield a Nichirin Blade, but I'm determined to contribute in any way I can," you assert, mustering up a positive outlook amid the uncertainties.
Sanemi smirks, his eyes glinting mischievously. "That's the spirit. And don't worry, it's never too late to start practicing."
You chuckle, thinking back to a conversation with your mother long ago. "Funny thing is, my great-grandfather was actually a former Hashira," you share, raising an eyebrow.
Both men's eyes widen in surprise; their curiosity is piqued. "Seriously?" they exclaim almost in unison.
Nodding, you continue, "Yeah, it took me a while to grasp the significance since my memories were hazy. Unfortunately, he didn't survive, so you wouldn't have had the chance to meet him."
With a touch of sentiment, you reveal the wisteria pendant bestowed upon you—a cherished heirloom passed down through generations. "This belonged to him. My grandparents claimed it was meant to protect me as a Marechi, a prime target for demons."
As you prepare to share another thought, a realization sparks in your mind, and you turn to Sanemi with a glimmer of excitement in your eyes. "I've been meaning to ask you this for a while, but I keep forgetting. Your surname is Shinazugawa, right?"
Sanemi confirms it with a nod, and you can't help but smile warmly. "It might just be a remarkable coincidence, but my mother's surname is also Shinazugawa. Turns out, my great-grandfather is from her side of the family."
Sanemi's eyes widen like saucers, his usual composure giving way to a rare moment of vulnerability. "Wait, which means..."
"Technically, I'm your predecessor, but it seems I've been reborn as your cousin," You chuckle, embracing the newfound connection between you.
The uncanny resemblance in hair and eye color suddenly makes sense, and you realize that your shared bloodline likely contributes to your Marechi status. The physical distance between you over the years—your life in the countryside and Sanemi's upbringing in the capital—explains why you were unfamiliar with each other.
An unsettling bitterness creeps into Sanemi's thoughts, a remnant of the past when you fell victim to Muzan's clutches. The thought of failing to protect his own kin, even if you were older than him by decades, leaves a sour taste in his mouth.
Once driven by the desire to shield you as a friend, he now yearns to safeguard you as kin, as an older brother. His commitment to your safety surpasses all boundaries, even his own.
Rengoku's words echo in his mind, reminding him of their unwavering dedication to family—they never abandon their own.
Sanemi's revelation about having cousins in the countryside prompts a frown from Tengen, who is already familiar with your story. The news of your blood relation with Sanemi, however, comes as a surprise to him.
Reflecting on the past, you share with a hint of regret, "Yeah, there was a massive feud within my father's family over lands and estates left behind by my grandparents."
Concern lines Sanemi's face as he inquires, "What happened?"
Recalling the painful memories, you take a deep breath before revealing, "My mom and I got caught in the crossfire. My father, after arguments with his parents and siblings, would channel his anger towards her, subjecting her to unspeakable acts. It was especially terrible when he was drunk. Our home turned into a literal hell."
Tengen pulls you closer, offering a comforting gesture amid the somber tale. Despite the sadness in your words, a gentle smile graces your lips. "As a result, my mom's mental stability deteriorated, and I became her target for all her frustrations. A few years ago, my mother finally made the brave decision to divorce him and took me with her. I was genuinely surprised that she considered me. She apologized, and I chose to forgive her. But a year later, the mistreatment escalated, compounded by our dire financial situation. I was still in college, so finding a full-time job was challenging. With her unable to work, she relied on me."
As you recount your story, you notice Sanemi's hand clenching tightly—a visual display of his anger on your behalf.
The sight warms your heart, and you can't help but smile. It's comforting to see someone genuinely outraged on your behalf.
"Immediately after graduating, I sought employment, and as soon as I received my first paycheck, I packed my things and left. I haven't looked back since," you explain firmly.
Sanemi grumbles indignantly, "You did the right thing. Screw your mother for being so terrible, and your father too."
You chuckled as you said, "I said the same thing to her."
Your boyfriend grumbles, "Anyone with a heart would say the same."
You chuckle, acknowledging their shared reaction. "I suppose so. That's my life story. I'd delve into my time as a demon, but that would take a day to cover the highlights."
Sanemi interjects, smiling, "Well, we have a lifetime to talk about that. For now, focus on getting better. My place is always open to you, but since you're already living with Tengen, consider it a home away from home. Genya would be thrilled to know his Santa Claus is his actual blood cousin."
"I'd love that," you reply warmly.
Tengen kisses your forehead, teasingly remarking, "I'm not sure about having Sanemi as my future brother-in-law, but I guess we can't have it all, huh?"
Sanemi, quick to retaliate, throws an empty cup at your boyfriend, hitting him squarely in the face. The unexpected action elicits a loud laugh from you.
Turning your attention back to the Wind Hashira, you playfully say, "Nii-san, if he ever breaks my heart, you know what to do, right?"
A mischievous smirk spreads across Sanemi's face as he retorts, "You don't even have to ask, Y/N."
