The R - Part 2:
What is the connection between Robinson the Islander and Duchess R?
*N.B: This is a follow-up to Part 1 - Th3r3534rch1ngr4ph on Tumblr*
Apart from the obvious connection between the letter R in their names, is there a deeper, slightly sinister connection?
So we know that all of the islanders have a past, and they've washed up from somewhere.
But we also know that not all stories add up at first glance, such as that of Miranda Caliban [Thursday was alive when she thought otherwise... well, in Netflix Canon, at least].
The above example means that Ishmael's opiate combined with his persuasive talking was a REALLY powerful weapon.
POINT 1: Ishmael's opiate made Robinson forget about his past.
But can we deduce (or, at least, theorise) what that past was?
Well, let's think:
Robinson is a direct relative of Duchess R and washed up all the way from Winnipeg.
Robinson is a direct relative of Duchess R and was VISITING The City from Winnipeg, when he was washed up.
Robinson is a volunteer who was investigating the V.F.D. HQ in the Mortmain Mountains, when he fell into the Stricken Stream, and the currents were too strong for him to come out.
The first one seems unlikely, as there's no way water can travel that distance:
Robinson is a direct relative of Duchess R and washed up all the way from Winnipeg.
Robinson is a direct relative of Duchess R and was VISITING The City from Winnipeg, when he was washed up.
Robinson is a volunteer who was investigating the V.F.D. HQ in the Mortmain Mountains, when he fell into the Stricken Stream, and the currents were too strong for him to come out.
The second one may seem unrealistic, but the V. of F.D. Fowl Fountain washed up on the Island, so there may be SOME possibility there...
but the last one seems likeliest:
Robinson is a direct relative of Duchess R and washed up all the way from Winnipeg.
Robinson is a direct relative of Duchess R and was VISITING The City from Winnipeg, when he was washed up.
Robinson is a volunteer who was investigating the V.F.D. HQ in the Mortmain Mountains, when he fell into the Stricken Stream, and the currents were too strong for him to come out.
Maybe Ishmael recognised him and tried to drug him ASAP; it would've worked if, like the Baudelaires, Robinson didn't know or hear of Ishmael beforehand...

a headcaon post for the most minor of all characters, violet's friend ben, who i'm giving the surname of gaiters:
out of all of the baudelaires friends, ben would have contacted them directly after the baudelaire fire, had the gaiters family not been on vacation. ben as such got a shock when he went to visit the baudelaire mansion like any other day, only to see the remains.
when learning they were in the city in the care of count olaf, ben tried contacting them. but letters sent were return, calls went unanswered, and visits were stop by the acting troupe. by the time the baudelaires were sent to live with dr. montgomery montgomery, ben assumed they didn't want anything to do with their old lives anymore.
ben tried contacting the baudelaires once more when he learn they were going to prufrock prep. knowing his first cousin carmelita spats attended there, ben knew the baudelaires need help trying to survive the cruel girl's antics. the letters were once again, returned. but ben suspected sunny at least seen his letters, for they were 'damaged' via four small holes.
his attempts to contact them again when he learned they were back in the city, living with the squalors, also failed. this time he made phone calls, and they always went unanswered. the one time he got through, the woman esme, told them that they were out; ben thought they were 'out' as in the fad, and stopped all together.
when ben read the news that the baudelaires killed count olaf at the village of fowl devotee, he decided to go find them. ben didn't believe the newspaper, not at all. but everything about the baudelaires' lives since the fire has been a mystery. and it's one he needs to solve. and so ben ran away to began his search.
ben found the ashes of dr. montgomery montgomery's home. he saw the cliff that once had josephine anwhistle's home and her shredded life jacket. ben talked to charles on a payphone about the baudelaire's time at the lumber mill. ben personally talked to jerome squalor at 667 dark avenue, with jerome allowing the boy to stay a few day to rest before going on his way again.
not long after this, ben's parents found him. to make sure he doesn't run away again, ben parent's force him to join the snow scouts. ben used as a way to get information from carmelita about the baudelaires time at prufrock prep. and carmelita talked nonstop about the 'cakesniffers' and their friendship with duncan and isadora quagmire (carmelita was furious with violet and her 'crush' on duncan).
ben felt stupid when he got trap in the net, seeing that violet and klaus and the not dead quagmire quigley, were there with the snow scouts. ben felt stupid for not recognizing violet. he wanted to call out to violet, but he was scare of the possibility she didn't recognized him. that same fear was in ben when he and others rowed the carmelita, for he saw the baudelaires and the girl with triangle glasses, and the hook-handed man trying to get back to the other submarine.
when free, having heard about the hotel denouement, ben went directly there. he saw the city firefighter's surrounding the now gone hotel. he saw the ambulances tending to the injured, one being jerome squalor. ben talked to mr. squalor again, learning about the rigged trial, and how the baudelaires and count olaf set the hotel on fire.
ben accompanied jerome to the hospital, as well as visit him every day until the man's release. two parted ways again when jerome brought ben back to his parents, who weren't at home at the time of the fire that destroyed the gaiter's home, having been at the police asking them to find their son (again).
ben after this stopped his search for the baudelaires, living life as he did before. but he didn't throw away his research. and every day, he visits briny beach, hoping to see them there. and one day, a little after the date of the hotel denouement fire, saw them on briny beach, looking worst for wear with a little baby.
ben ran towards them. ben's first instinct was to give violet a hug. but he stopped himself in time, staring at them. ben opened his mouth to speak, but nothing came out. he wasn't sure if they recognized him. he wasn't sure if things were going to fine. ben fears that they think he had abandoned them, and he couldn't blame them for it.
it's only went violet ran up to him, and gave him a hug as if to make up for all the lost time, did ben felt things will at least, work out.

Tumblr media
@carnivorous-horses-lover first of all, thank you for enabling me
Secondly, imagine, if you will, a small-town young man who works at his stepfather's farm. The young man's name is Fernald, and his life is pretty miserable - his attempt at an acting career in the City failed, forcing him to return to his hometown, and now he's stuck in a routine he doesn't enjoy. His relationship with his stepfather Widdershins isn't great - in part, probably, because his stepfather is a pretty miserable man too, a former sea captain now bound to live on land after sustaining injuries that made him unfit for life at sea. Nearly the only bright spot for Fernald is his teenage sister, Fiona - she's talented and smart, and surely won't become a failure like him.
One evening, as Fernald is getting drunk at the bar after a particularly angry row with his stepfather, he meets a cute and charming person called Orlando (I think this name would fit in fine in this AU - iirc, Sunny refers to the Henchperson like that at some point either in the books or in the series, and Virginia Woolf's Orlando is able to live for centuries without growing old). They hit it off right away, and damn, this might be the drink talking, but Fernald feels like he's falling in love. At the end of the night, just before sunrise, as Orlando is about to leave, he kisses them.
And then Orlando bites him. Bites him and sucks his blood.
After that, Orlando runs away without explanation, so at first, Fernald doesn't understand what has happened to him. But then the rising sun starts burning his flesh. As he's trying to hide in the shade, an RV drives up, and Orlando pulls him in. Inside, he finds a group of people all screaming at Orlando that they should kill Fernald, but then Orlando tells them that they've already turned him, and, after some discussion, the strangers inform him that they'll let him live - for now. Fernald learns that his new acquaintances are a band of vampires who roam the Land of Districts under the guise of a travelling acting troupe. The band is led by Count Olaf, a man claiming to have been an 18th century nobleman. Apart from him and Orlando, there's Olaf's girlfriend Esme, a Bald Man, two White-Faced Women, and Carmelita, a tween girl recently turned by Esme when the latter decided she wanted a daughter. They travel from town to town, kill people to feed, and occasionally steal a new vehicle and burn the old one to cover up their tracks.
The Count and the others tell Fernald that they're going to give him a probational period of sorts - he gets a week to learn to hunt, and if he doesn't, they're going to get rid of him. The problem is, Fernald can't make himself kill people. His thirst is strong and he can feel his organism starting to reject human food, but he cannot overcome his fear and disgust. Orlando helps him by hunting for him and feeding him their blood after they have fed themselves, but they tell him this cannot go on, and Fernald knows that eventually he has either to become a murderer or be murdered. In the Village of Fowl Devotees, where the vampires attack a bar, he fails to kill a local handyman and lets him escape. Everyone but Orlando is furious and wants to kill him, but then the police arrive, and Fernald risks his life to help the rest of the group escape. This pacifies the vampires, and they decide to give him more time to adjust.
Meanwhile, Widdershins and Fiona follow the trail of the vampires' rampage from town to town, hoping to catch up with Fernald and see if he can still be saved. They meet the handyman, Hector, who has seen which direction the vampires drove off to. After driving all day, they decide to stay at a motel, not knowing that Olaf's troupe is also staying there. At some point, while Widdershins isn't present, Fiona goes out of their room and runs into Carmelita. They strike a conversation, and Carmelita, happy to finally have someone her age to talk to, invites Fiona to their room. When Fiona sees her brother, she is overjoyed, but he immediately gets worried and tells her to leave. It is, however, too late: Carmelita wants a friend, and even though Olaf hates the idea, Esme is still fond enough of her toy - pardon, her child - to indulge her whims.
Luckily, Widdershins arrives and threatens the vampires with a gun. A scuffle ensures, and the whole family, including Fernald, manages to escape. For some reason, Widdershins is sure that a blood transfusion might help Fernald revert to human state. They try it, and it works.
The family returns home and wards the house against vampires ("but Stepfather, how do you even know all these things?" - "don't worry about it"), yet it turns out they've been followed. At night, Orlando comes and persuades Fernald to go out and talk to them. They try to convince Fernald to let them bite him again and go back with them, but eventually, unable to lie anymore, they break down and reveal that the other vampires made them distract him. Turns out that while they were talking, Olaf's troupe somehow broke through the protection of the house. Fernald discovers that his stepfather is grievously wounded and his sister is gone. Widdershins tells him that the vampires took Fiona away and urges Fernald to follow them. Fernald calls the ambulance for his stepfather and leaves to chase the troupe, who have by then picked up Orlando and driven away. He is attacked by the Bald Man and the White-Faced Women, but manages to defeat them.
Orlando, who is genuinely in love with Fernald, decides to risk incurring Olaf and Esme's wrath and help Fiona escape. Together they break out of the car and run towards Fernald. The sun is rising, and Orlando has to cover themselves with a jacket, because the sun keeps burning them. Furious Olaf and Esme, with Carmelita in the backseat, pursue them and attempt to run them over with their car. Fernald manages to push Fiona and Orlando away, but the car crashes into him, and he passes out.
He regains consciousness in the same small - and, honestly, shady-looking - hospital where his blood transfusion was performed. He is aching all over, and one of his hands has been amputated, but he's alive. Fiona is there, and so is his father, bruised but still standing - and Orlando, who has also been cured by a blood transfusion. Another person present, strangely, is the handyman from the Village of Fowl Devotees. He tells them that the car with the vampires exploded in the crash, but no human remains were found when the fire was extinguished. Perhaps they burned to ashes completely. Perhaps not.
Okay, says Fernald, what the hell. Why are you here? How did Stepfather know that the blood transfusions would help? What kind of hospital is this?
Widdershins and Hector share an awkward glance.
There used to be an... organization some years ago, they tell him. An organization created to battle supernatural threats. It was founded long ago by people privy to the secrets of the world. But it has been dying out for decades, and their generation was the last. Too many died, too many quit out of fear (Hector looks away, embarrassed), too many were seduced by the occult and joined the other side. But the few still remain - the ones who don't seek out the enemy actively, but still remember how to fight against it.
They call themselves volunteers.
And it seems no one can hide from what one is forever.

asoue characters and differences in knowledge and awareness.
i know i've been posting a lot of thoughts i have on asoue recently, and that's because me and my parent are currently rewatching the netflix show. so, today, i have yet another thing i noticed about it:
almost every single character has knowledge that differs from other characters.
let me explain:
differences in knowledge are something a lot of authors struggle/forget to portray in their characters, which results in a situation in which every single character is perfectly aware of the entire story at the same time.
but what makes for a much more interesting viewing/reading experiance is when some characters don't know what's going on, or are wrong about what's going on, or know more than the other characters, or even just know different things than other characters.
now, how does this apply to asoue characters?
well, considering the story mostly revolves around a secret organization, that already puts a lot of the characters into the "doesn't know"/"is wrong" category, but that's not all.
see, there's even clear differences in the knowledge of people that are aware of vfd.
all members know what happened that night at the opera, but not all of them know that lemony faked his death.
both esmé and olaf know about the sugar bowl, yet olaf recognizes the pub at the village of fowl devotees as a former vfd place, whereas as esmé clearly doesn't. this is just one example of their difference in knowledge.
the baudelaires are completely unaware of the real vfd for a majority of the story, and even once they figure it out, they still don't have all the information.
the only character at times shown even close to all-knowing, really, is lemony snicket himself. as both a character and a narrator, he knows almost everything relating to the story. and even he doesn't know everything.
idk man i think this is a pretty cool writing thing i thought i'd share-

The first time Kit heard that Count Olaf had been killed in the Village of Fowl Devotees, she did not believe it, because the newspaper had been on a long and slippery slope into inaccuracy, irrelevancy, and idiocy for years- since her brothers had stopped working there.
When she first read between the lines to see that it was not Olaf, but Jacques that had died in the crow-covered village, her heart stopped for a beat as if crushed by a fist. And then she took a breath, and still did not believe it. There was a reason VFD had handed out Veritable Fake Death awards. Sometimes, the best disguise to escape a number of situations was “corpse”.
But her twin had not left her clues in any of his usual favorite hiding spots, did not send a message by the usual secret means. There was always deeper cover, but...
Just as all rivers found their way to sea, all documents and records eventually found their way to the sub-library of the Hotel Denouement. It was Dewey who first broke the news to her- knowing the truth, even a horrid truth, was a kindness, just as bitter tea is a kindness.
Her first thought, once she really knew for sure, was
Olaf wouldn’t do that to me.
She was instantly furious with herself for thinking it. Why not, why on earth not? He had already killed so many of the people she loved, one after another. He was the reason Lemony was gone, even if he hadn’t caused that death with his own hands. It was foolish of her to think he would hesitate for even a second to kill Jacques for some spark of sentimentality that clearly never stopped him...or only made his vengeance worse.

the nature of this blog is that every once in a while i make a post about when did jerome and esme get married
jerome esme marriage exact timeline has always been A Thing on my mind because for so long i’m stuck at geraldine’s letter to esme talking about what she found out about jerome and also mentioning the dramatic critic recently fired that she can’t remember the name of, and jacques’s letter to jerome telling him not to marry esme mentioning death a paltryville and also hiding in a village currently.
like for the longest time i assumes the dramatic critic is lemony and therefore this is before lemony went on the run (more than 15 years ago) and the death jacques mentioned is about georgina and he’s currently hiding at village of fowl devotees (timeline roughly taa) which obviously doesn’t seem to make a lot of sense, until recently i saw the interpretation of the fired dramatic critic being jacques which made a lot of sense! jacques was perhaps moved to that position sometime after lemony being fired and that would explain geraldine not remembering the name (the have the same last name which only caused more confusion for her), and then the timeline makes more sense that perhaps j/e only married very recently.
that said as much as it makes sense i still prefer lemony being the dramatic critic mentioned and that it really took about 15 years for esme to make her move of running into jerome and they get married after one night together. that may seem like an extremely long time but then again, so did the amount of time b&b’s enemies allowed them to live.
of course, considering who jerome is there are probably other easy ways of getting money from him without having to marry him, such as being his financial advisor and advising him to use his money for certain purposes. perhaps marriage has never been much of a priority
so what made esme changed her mind? did anything happen? well, yes. from jacques’s letter, we know that this happened right around georgina’s death. that’s what made esme change her mind. she didn’t want to - or georgina didn’t want her to - marry jerome, even for money. money is important, but she’s smart and she can get it other ways, and georgina is more important.
but now georgina is dead and esme wants to do something to distract herself from dealing with that and it seems like this is the volunteers’ fault because everything is the volunteers’ fault.
she makes her move on jerome

A Trio Consisting of G, H, and I
(Day seven prompt for Woevember, aka, Free Space Day, event created by @asouefanworkevent)
Around the same time Gregor and Ike were recruited, a boy from the Village of Fowl Devotee was also recruited: Hector. In fact, when Hector first arrived to the Mortmain Mountain headquarters, it was Ike and Gregor who met Hector first out of everyone in their generation; Ike’s curiosity had him wandering off and finding the car Hector was in, and Gregor was off looking for Ike.
Not long after that, Ike insisted Hector should stay in the room the two brothers were staying in, and Gregor agreed with the idea. Such decision had the adults at the headquarters soon enter a frenzy, believing Hector had ran off after escaping the car. The frenzy only ended after the three boys attempted to make breakfast that had Gregor nearly setting the kitchen on fire.
Their initial meeting and circumstances allowed Gregor, Hector, and Ike to form a strong bond with one another. It’s so strong, many people (volunteers who don’t know the Anwhistles well, or outsiders) believed them to be brothers, before getting corrected. Gregor and Ike eventually started saying Hector is actually an Anwhistle, for he got adopted at a later point in time.
Is that the truth? Does the truth matter? What’s important is how they see each other, and that is family. The bond they forged that day, and what grew over the years is what made them brothers. And almost nothing could change it.
With one swift movement, Ike sends a punch through the air, and knocks Gregor right onto the floor, as well as his glasses. While his vision is blurry, Gregor can see Ike towering over him, his chest moving up and down.
“Forget about him? Forget about him!? You’re insane to think I want to forget Hector. And you think that hell hole in the Hinterlands would be perfect for him? That place went bonkers ever since the fire! No volunteer wants to be there. There’s no way anyone can survive their rules!”
Gregor clicks his tongue again upon hearing those words. Gregor quickly grabs his glasses, puts them back on his face, and wipes his mouth with the back of his hand.
“On the contrary, Isaac,” replies Gregor, getting back up on his feet, “Hector will survive! If he survived the Volunteer Fire Department, he can do it again at the V.F.D.!”

woevember day 7
welcome to woevember day 7, the last day! today’s theme is free space!
is there a character you want to make something for that didn’t necessarily fit in these categories? (and my deepest apologies for who didn’t. the duchess? miranda? ishmael? the islanders? widdershins? hector? the village of fowl devotees? jacquelyn? larry? phil? beatrice and bertrand, technically????) is there a character you wanted to do but you didn’t like the group they were in? (you’d rather talk about esme outside of her relation to the firestarters?) do you want to do something centered on a ship? (lemony/beatrice/bertrand? dewey/bertrand? kit/beatrice? violet/isadora? jacques/jerome? olivia/jacques? beatrice/bertrand? monty/gustav? sally/r?) put it here!
post your free space shenanigans and don’t forget to tag this tumblr (asouefanworkevent) in the post so i can find it and reblog it, and tag the post with #woevember !

Anwhistle Family Breakdown
(Or, a self-reference post to help me keep track of the OCs I created for the Anwhistle Family, alongside the Canonical Anwhistle Family, and Others)
Golden (Quiet) Generation Anwhistles
Anwhistle By Blood
A: the A stands for Aengus. The eldest of his siblings, Aengus is well-respected within VFD. But well-respected doesn’t mean Aengus is well-liked. Whistling Song Specialty: Rocky Road to Dublin
S: the S stands for Seachnall. The Black Sheep of his family (and VFD) through actions that weren’t approved of. If given the choice, he would do it again. Whistling Song Specialty: Maggie Mae
U: the U stands for Una. A lovely woman who many men wanted to marry, Una has high standards that only one man met; someone her family disapproved of. Whistling Song Specialty: When Irish Eyes Are Smiling
Anwhistle by Marriage
E, or Q: the E stands for Enrique, with the Q standing for his nickname of Quique. An immigrant from Mexico, Enrique risked the Anwhistle Family’s ire for his love for Una, and thought it worth marrying her.
A: the A here stands for Audrey. A fierce woman who supported Seachnall’s actions. She called out the Anwhistles and other families (mainly Baudelaires, Denouements, and Snickets) as cowards and hypocrites over it.
(Original) Schism Generation Anwhistles
Anwhistle by Adoption
F: the F stands for Francisca. A woman who adores opera, she is Aengus’ daughter. She marries C (Clovis) Baudelaire, who she less than adores. Whistling Song Specialty (being adopted doesn’t mean she can’t whistle): Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto No. 1
Anwhistle by Birth
I: the I stands for Ira. The first son of Seachnall and Audrey. Ira is a polite-speaking marine biologist with goals that aim high. Whistling Song Specialty: Dvorak’s Symphony No. 9 (New World Symphony), Fourth Movement.
G: the G stands for Gale. The second son of Seachnall and Audrey, Gale is a jack-of-all-traits who loves film-making. Whistling Song Specialty: Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9, Fourth Movement (Ode To Joy)
Z: Also known to some as O, which stands for Ocho (Eight). The only child of Una and Enrique, Z tried his best to protect his childhood friend, who still lives in Village of Fowl Devotee, and his family safe from VFD, but failed. It’s a failure that sends Z to his deathbed. Whistling Song Specialty: Étude Op. 10, No. 3 (Tristesse)
Anwhistle by Marriage
B: the B stands for Belladonna. A formidable woman who lives up to the flower she’s name after in order to do the right thing. B, despite Gale’s many warnings, always tries to to vindicate Seachnall’s actions (which she believed as correct) to certain VFD Families, to usually no results.
D: Formerly known as D. Snicket. D’s loyalty to VFD, for they helped her and her siblings escape their terrible guardian, pales in comparison to her loyalty for the family she started with Z, as well as the Snickets. D will do anything to keep her family safe, and most importantly, alive.
Proven False Rumor Anwhistle
‘H’ Anwhistle: Now, Seachnall prior to his marriage to Audrey, was something of a flirt and womanizer. After marrying, Seachnall stopped his Casanova ways and remained true to Audrey. Due to Seachnall’s Black Sheep status and that some VFD families were still polite and friendly to him (mainly the Quagmires, Widdershins, and Montgomery Family), a cruel rumor spread that Seachnall cheated on Audrey, and 'H' is his lovechild. The rumor was proven false because Audrey found the culprit who started it, and Audrey got him to confess publicly after threatening to expose his own affair to his wife.
Sugar Bowl Generation Anwhistles
Anwhistle by Birth
Gregor Anwhistle: the oldest son of Z and D Anwhistle, Gregor is an almost soft and baritone-ish speaking man that takes people by surprise when revealing his volatile nature. 100% judge Seachnall’s actions that lead to him becoming the Black Sheep, even though Gregor admits he would have done the same. Whistling Song Specialty: Bourrèe Fantasque
Helen Anwhistle: the Original H. Anwhistle, daughter of Z and D Anwhistle. Helen died at the age of three in her VFD recruitment. In a universe where she lived, Helen wins the heart of a non-hesitating submarine captain. Also, in this universe, Helen’s Whistling Song Specialty is The Garland Waltz from Tchaikovsky‘s The Sleeping Beauty ballet.
Isaac ‘Ike’ Anwhistle: The youngest son of Z and D. Anwhistle, Ike was a curious child growing up, and his curiosity transformed into (reckless) bravery. Ike is one the few people who doesn’t extend the ire/ban of Seachnall’s onto his descendant. Whistling Song Specialty: Beethoven's Fourth Quartet (Beethoven’s String Quartet No. 4)
F: the F here stands for Felix. The son of Gale and Belladonna Anwhistle, Felix is a traveler, going everywhere and anywhere. While having a decent relationship with Ike, Felix moved his family to New England to escape the ire/judgement of the other Anwhistles/certain VFD Families. Whistling Song Specialty: Piano Sonata No. 14 (Moonlight Sonata).
Anwhistle by Complications
Hector: the son of Victor Cuervo (Z’s childhood friend) and María Carmen Aguilar. Legally name Hector Aguilar, his informal full name is Hector Cuervo-Aguilar (Land of District law states only one surname can be on a birth certificate, and Aguilar was chosen). In a universe where he wasn’t recruited, Hector still gets roped up into the canonical unfortunate events. Whistling Song Specialty (because he too, can whistle): La Llorona
Anwhistle by Marriage
Josephine: Formerly Josephine Gonzalez-Swayer. Despite her bravery and fearless nature, Josephine is above all else, a cautious woman. Josephine always prioritizes safety first. Such safety is why she convinced Ike to allow and accept Felix and his family’s move to New England.
M: the M stands for Miriam. An adventurous woman who joined Felix on his travels. They later married in their time in Greece (Miriam’s suggestion). Miriam likes Ike and Josephine, for they treat Felix as his own person, and not as an extension of Seachnall’s actions.
Anwhistle Relatives
Beatrice Baudelaire: the daughter of Clovis and Francisca Baudelaire nee Anwhistle, she is the second cousin to Gregor and Ike through Francisca (being Z’s first cousin). Clovis and Francisca Baudelaire love their daughter, but not one another, and the two had one too many verbal fights at home that has Beatrice being ashamed of being a Baudelaire, especially as a child. Beatrice as such enjoyed visting Gregor and Ike’s home, taking those visits as a temporary sanctuary from her parents. Whistling Song Specialty: Mozart's Fourteenth Symphony (Symphony No. 14)
Jacques, Kit, and Lemony Snicket: the children of E and Jacob Snicket, they are the first cousins to Gregor and Ike through E. Snicket (being D Anwhistle’s sister). Jacques and Kit have little memories of Helen to where they forgot about her existence. Lemony in contrast, never have memories of Helen, thinking the Anwhistle Siblings are Gregor and Ike (and later Hector). Gregor prefers the company of his cousin Jacques, while Ike prefers the company of his cousin Kit. Lemony is equality like by them. Whistling Song Specialty: None. That said, Jacques can whistle.
Next Generation Anwhistles
Gideon Anwhistle: the first son of Felix and Miriam, he’s a sixteen-year-old who looks very polite, especially with his hexagon glasses, though he has a hidden anger that shows itself on occasion. Gideon has an interest in the paleontology field: paleobotany, the study of plant fossils. Whistling Song Specialty: Rhapsody in Blue
Elijah Anwhistle: the second son of Felix and Miriam, he’s a fourteen-year-old who sometimes let curiosity get the better of him. Elijah excels in sports (mainly swimming, canoeing, tennis, and baseball), but his real interest is art. Specifically, the traditional mediums of color pencils, markers, and inks. Whistling Song Specialty: Helter Skelter
Clementine ‘Clem’ Anwhistle: the last child of Felix and Miriam, as well as their only daughter. An energetic ten-year-old who loves creating buildings and decorating room interiors, be it on paper or on the computer due to having games that allows Clem do what her heart wants to make. Regarding Beatrice and Lemony’s Engagement...
When Beatrice and Lemony announced their eventual short-live engagement, some people within the Anwhistle Family and Baudelaire Family wondered if it was legal. After all, Beatrice is a second cousin through the Anwhistles through her adopted mother F, and Lemony is a first cousin through the Anwhistles through D. and E being sisters.
Turns out Beatrice and Lemony before dating (hell, even before they asked each other on their first date), did their research.
By the Land of District’s law that the City follows, Beatrice and Lemony are able to date and marry. Beatrice’s relationship to the Anwhistle Family is a second cousin, meaning they don’t share a direct relative. While Lemony’s relation to the Anwhistles is a first cousin, because Beatrice has no Snicket relation through blood or adoption, the law doesn’t consider their relationship as incest in any way or form.
(Violet in TBB being force to married Olaf despite it being incest through adoption was through a loophole of the law of a minor being able to marry via permission from a guardian [or parent].)
