Hi, thank you for the ask Polu! I love fighting headcanons, the more unusual the better.

For Daeron, the craftsman and musician, my strongest HC is that he's very involved in making any kind of instrument he makes use of.

Before archery or skinning knives, his favorite weapon was and always remained the dart. He is an expert in making poisons with a variety of toxicity levels and effects, and his aim is excellent. There are several similarities to wooden flute-making and dart-building; the same principle of breath-control applies.

He is a very good archer, and was involved in the big second-wave gut/fiber works in straining thin strands for strings, post-Cuiviénen (post Míriel's initial development of fiber crafts, too).

A great variety of stringing techniques were developed by the Sindar in this period of time, both musical and for the hunt and defense, especially during the search for lost Thingol.

Beleg Strongbow and Daeron had a long collaboration on the area of making a variety of models, of both kinds of instruments, from which the Strongbow itself was built, or its prototype at least. (Daeron starts and ends the collaboration process with an unfortunate workplace crush) (His thing for archers with ride-or-die mentalities and more heart than wisdom roots deep).

Later on, his knowledge of the potency and chemical/alchemical and magical potential of natural resources for poisons and building materials grows exponentially under Melian's tutelage, to the point that he is unofficially considered one of the most deathly people in Doriath, if he needed to be.

There is his music, too, of course. He does not use it as a weapon; outright violent use of it is very against his principles. And he does not need to use it, as such. Violence implies a lack of skill and reach; Daeron does not need to burst veins with a hummed chord or play the spirits of his enemies into confusion.

Breath-control is his first and best skill. It is enough. The beasts and bandits that try to attack him in his wanderings die very gently, a quick unconsciousness before asphyxiation sets in. Unconsciousness, and then a string's cut, a very strong garrote easily wielded. He's very precise, and very quick. There is barely any blood at all; his hands are always very clean, afterwards.

Rythulian Headcanons #1

Though Rythulians are born with adult bodies, they’re as clueless as any newborn as to how the world works. So, before the war, older/more experienced Rythulians would head out to known “glyph falls” in order educate any newcomers on at least the basics of their society. It helped that newcomers instinctively imprinted on the first person they saw and would followed them around like ducklings.

Typically, the new Rythulians would stay with their mentor for at least a few months to maybe a couple of years. It was highly unusual for mentors and pupils to stay together any longer than that as mentors needed more room to educate the next batch of clueless newcomers.

Usually, a mentor would wind up with 1-3 pupils at a time but as with the poor guy above sometimes they’d get more than they bargain for lol

Hey!

For The inusual headcanons game: ✨ Aq Vetina

You have opened Pandora’s Box, my anonymous acquaintance. And I’m gonna give you multiple headcanons because I have so little self-control and I already used my allotted quota for the day.

First off (and I will die on this hill): Aq Vetina is the name of the settlement, not the planet. I like to put it far in the Outer Rim, nigh on the border to Wild Space and near the Mandalore System (in Lift a Sail, I put it on a certain planet that I won’t name here because it’s a major spoiler😉)

I know a lot of people hold to the idea that everyone in Aq Vetina wears red robes but I don’t really know why because in the flashbacks (particularly in Chapter 8) we see the people in the background wearing a host of colours. I’ve spotted yellow, a lot of brown, quite a bit of grey, blue, black, and even some purple. Actually, the red that the Djarin family wears stands out. So I prefer to take it as the people wear a variety of colours. But! They are big on colour meanings (much like Mandalorians but their list of meanings are quite different because their culture and their values are different) and families tend to dress in the same colour. Also, the colours along with the designs on the bodices and shirt sleeves serve as family crests.

Aq Vetina experiences seasons. Most of the year is warm and dry but it has rains (we see some greenery in the streets so I refuse to let it be another Star Wars Desert PlanetTM) and it has a frosty winter, maybe some very light snow.

They have their own language but Basic is widely known, too.

The place was not completely destroyed in that Separatist attack but it did take a long time for them to recover. They were almost decimated due to the Empire’s mining operations on their planet but they’re still around today (during the Mandalorian’s present) and thriving.

They don’t have a space port, but they do conduct a bit of interplanetary trade (I do like the idea that they’re well-known for their textiles and fabric dyes).

Aq Vetina is very close to the sea (oh, come on, we’re not shown the whole place; I can put it where I want and I want it to be close enough to the seaside that little Din used to splash about on the shore with his parents and collect colourful seashells).

💛 - Familial relationships

TKB's early family life was the same as Ryou's, and that includes a younger sister that made him feel like he was the most awesome big brother ever. He enjoyed telling stories to his mother, who would smile and listen with the most enraptured expression on her face and ask him questions about people/places/things in the story.

🕊️ - Platonic relationships (friends, enemies, etc)

Sadly he became an extreme loner due to his trauma, and avoided getting attached to anyone even on a platonic level. He only cared about taking down the monarchy. His fixation on Atem wasn't so much as Atem as a person, but more what he represented.

This one I'm going to add in regards to the above: TKB spent so long focusing his rage and hate on Atem, that in any AU that is canon-compliant and they come back to life together, he will be instinctively drawn to Atem like a moth to a flame. Atem is the only thing left from before. Sure, Marik and Yamima can speak Coptic, but TKB can't babble on about something he remembers and have them understand. Their knowledge of the things he talks about comes from scrolls. Atem can at least relate.

TKB: *sigh* "I miss some of the oils from back then. Nothing in this era seems to quite match the one I really liked."

Atem: "Tell me about it. It took me three weeks to find a kohl that was even close to what we had."

The Guardian’s Nightmare

The theme for Bungie Day this year is about our stories as Guardians, so why not share a bit more of my main character's lore, especially while we're in the middle of Season of the Haunted? 🌠 I wrote a bit about it on a twitter thread and I’ll share it here as well:

During this season I wondered what was her Nightmare considering all my headcanons so far, and after confirming that living characters can be someone's Nightmare (Caiatl for Calus ay), Alfa's one definitely would be her moody and cautious Ghost, Zeta. I made a previous comic about Alfa's struggle with (a projection of my own) social anxiety and her desire to not be dependent on others. While Stasis gives her some power independent of Light, she only controls thanks to Zeta's support.

And ofc Elsie's support as well, bc I simp for her and so does my hunter asdfghj drawing her was quite comforting for me during last year. This comic still is one of my personal favorites

Now, the Nightmare of Zeta materializes(-ish?) Alfa's dependance on him to have some power and be a Guardian, and how without him she would be a forgotten corpse. The Nightmare's voice mixes up with Zeta's, pretending to be the real one while reminding Alfa of her failures, foreseeing her potential corruption to Stasis and propheticizing Zeta's death thanks to her carelessness. Taking the shape of a Ghost, the Nightmare can keep itself invisible and speak only to Alfa, and reveals its presence and shape to others only after becoming a Memory.

I'll admit I still didn't think how the Sever would work because this still is a fresh headcanon, but what I can immediately think of is that Alfa would hold secret of her Nightmare until Zeta realizes something is wrong and her Stasis control gets shaky.

Anyway, these are just some of my own headcanons during this season, I don't know if any of it does fit to the actual canon, but I thought it's fitting to share it here because of the themes and how it communicates to me as well ✨

Children of Hurin for✨

✨ (worldbuilding or background): I love the Woodmen like Larnach and his daughter who seem to live in homesteads separately from any of the elves or great houses of the Edain. (Also I just love Larnach’s daughter in general!)

The Edain don’t seem particularly authoritarian, Húrin is not particularly separated from his people and has only one servant who seems quite happy with his lot. I don't think they're fleeing tyranny, but the Edain are very warlike, and the social pressure on men to go to war, and on their women to send their sons and husbands to battle must be very great. We see this through the likes of Dorlas in CoH. I imagine this caused these to live apart, tired of battle and death and war, wanting a life of relative peace. Of course that brings its own dangers, mainly the Gaurwaith and Orc raids.

thank you nonnie for such an intriguing ask! unusual headcanons for the nolofinwëans, in no particular order:

aredhel is as capable an architect and engineer and city-builder as turgon, and was involved in raising up gondolin from the beginning, back when it was only something they plotted about in privacy.

she goes not need any divine vision to know a secret city is the right option. her acts of political defiance regarding orders from barad eithel are ongoing, determined and very deliberate.

idril's silver legs rust, in sirion. the salt and the damp get to them. her movements grows more stilted, mechanical. wooden floors and ship decks bends when she walks on it. tuor cleans them very carefully every night, but they do rust at a quickening pace.

fingon and argon got along better than any other sibling combination in the family.

turgon wears mourning clothes and keeps mourning rituals for elenwe all his life.

nolofinwë seriously considered getting remarried during his kingship. letters of diplomatic inquiry were drafted, but never sent, regarding thingol's only daughter.

small brown birds kept alighting in his windowsill as he wrote. windows broke; mirrors shattered; winds rose, whipping long, thin boughs against the thick walls of his fortress. they left deep cracks, and sap-red scars on the high walls. he took the hint, but never lost the suspicion that this alliance alone might have saved his people.

fingon prays to manwë a great deal during the crossing of the helcaraxë. not for mercy, as such, or guidance. it's testimonial, in a sense. an on-going conversation in confessions. he is by far the most spiritually minded in the family.

his belief in estel is based on dogma, his own theological studies, trust and the certainty that a little of the marred world will be saved, to some degree. his great battle is a prayer, in its way, as well as a dare: he believes in victory wholeheartedly, because he must, but he also knows victory against morgoth will happen, be it his or not.

the only thing he can do, the only good and great thing, is to attempt it while he has the power to do it, and leave the rest to the gods. he is very humble, and very at peace with the possibility of getting his people killed in what might be a failure.

turgon does not pray. he dies in gondolin to stay far from the sea, and nearness to the authority of the valar.

fingolfin's last word - his choked-out war-cry - was his father's name.

ooooh OK I feel strongly that the Ninth have a whole fauna ecosystem we don't think much about. Like, we know about the snow leech fields, but what about fungi? Those glow-in-the-dark ones, they'd thrive in the Ninth's shafts. And they absolutely harvest lichens and algae, too.

The Ninth has always been small but I think the Third's population is large enough to have multiple settlements, probably at least half a dozen currently in use, and many more have come and gone through the millennia. ALSO they absolutely have the resources to keep pet. Coronabeth is a dog person. To Me.

The headcanons game with... Phee 🐅

Hmm… not sure I have anything too unusual headcanon-wise for Phee, but I do have some thoughts…

For an avid adventurer, she’s surprisingly laid back.

She’s happy and willing to take risks but it’s less of an adrenaline junkie-kind of drive and more of a case of she feels she doesn’t have ties to anything or anyone holding her back.

She’s patient—she has to be to get sources to reveal information, to find and follow clues, to unlock puzzles with keys so long forgotten and lost.

I get the notion she herself came to Pabu as a refugee. When she explains why she hunts down those artefacts—as a way of preserving the culture and history of people who have been displaced—I feel like she is talking with empathy, from a point of view that knows. My headcanon there is that nothing from her own world could be saved so she has nothing to remember it by.

She has the storyteller’s gift. And the reason why her tales are so often embellished and told differently is because she gathers stories and myths and fables as much as she gathers physical treasures. Some of the accounts she has lived, some of them she has only heard; sometimes, she mashes them up to tell a brand new story. It’s for entertainment (she is a showman at heart, let her have her fun), but it also helps keep her safe: tweaking the facts of tales makes it hard for people to track her, also probably helps keep whatever she finds hidden because in this version of the story, she lost the jewels of the ancient kingdom, in that version they fell into a lake of toxic lava, in another they turned out to be coloured glass, and in yet another she won them and walked away without a scratch but then used them to buy a treasure map.

🐅 - Characterization: character habits, personality, etc

Atem grew up playing a lot of games, and it was encouraged. Especially since many games, such as senet, required a bit of strategy to win. It was a way to train his mind from an early age to become the strategist he is.

As Pharaoh, strategy was very important. It allowed him to maneuver things of a political nature into desirable outcomes.

When it comes to making major decisions that can have an impact on others, he will quickly weigh the odds and determine which outcome will be the best.

However, ask this poor boy what he wants off the Burger World menu, and you will be there all day. Ask him where he want's to go just to hang out and have fun, he will stand there like a deer in the headlights. Leave him alone to dress himself and you will come back to the equivalent of a two year old that knows nothing about color coordination. This guy cannot choose for himself. He doesn't know how. As Pharaoh, he never had these choices. They were always made for him.

(Has nothing to do with the headcanons I just love that song and listened to it while writing )

Alejandro: (not my gift)

- he is actually a man who can stand a lot of alcohol

- he doesn't really like drinking games, but if Rudy challenges him, he's not the one to shy away from it

- as I said, he can stand a lot of the devils liquor but holy hell after an amount of it that could possibly kill any other human he’s not the stoic thinking Alejandro Vargas.

- He knows he’s a good locking man so it’s not unusual that some chicas or chicos flirts with him

- some of his team would call you in situations like that, not because he’s a cheater no. They would call you to pick him up because he gets whiny and grumpy about that your not here with him

- ofc you would pick your love sick husband up but to be honest, after one whole bottle of Mezcal he’s fucked up (just to remember you that would most possible kill any other person) and wouldn’t really recognize you

- at first he would tell you to go away cause he’s in a relationship

- when you want to take him with you he gets angry, telling you to fuck off cause he has the most beautiful, loving, kind hearted and attractive S/O in the whole world

- you would giggle about it, telling you your his s/o

- he would try to recognize your face but because of the darkness and way to much alcohol he just couldn’t

- but he would recognize your scent

- yeah, good luck going home after he recognized you

- cough instead horny cough

- anyways, even though he’s fucked up your night wouldn’t end quickly after you got him home

- oh and even in this state your his top priority ;)

- He hates drinking games more than anything else

- but if someone challenges him he can’t say no, his ego ist waaaay to big for that

- after a good amount of alcohol he would call you to take him home

- he knows he’s an attractive man so from time to time people would hit at him but he would causally show his wedding ring (he doesn’t even want to look at the people that want him)

- he knows he can’t drive and he doesn’t want to take an Uber (it’s just not safe as someone like him) so he would wait for you

- he would wait till you show up with another drink in his hand

- he’s not quite talkative on your way home, but he would lay his hand on your thigh, murmur a lot of sweet nothings and a lot of dirty things

- after you both got home he would ask you to take his clothes off

- cough alcohol makes him horny and you do too cough

Soap: (not my gift)

- he likes the taste of scotch that sharp, distinct flavor is what he likes about it

- The few times he has with his whole team are most likely to have a serious matter but the rare times when they can sit in a bar drinking with each other and don’t have to worry to get killed end most of the time with a drinking game

- he isn’t as good with alcohol as ghost or price but he would definitely try to win that stupid drinking game

- price would be the one that calls you

- soap would only sit in some corner, with a picture of you in his hand whining that he wants you to be here with you (he’s love sick)

- the moment you’re in front of him, kneeling between his legs and gently touching his cheeks would end with you back first in the wooden floor

- Ghost would definitely take pics/ videos of you too, most likely to tease soap after he’s sober

- You would take your big boy home

- he’s more on the cuddle side

- he wants you to touch him, to tell him sweet nothings and praise him

Ghost: (not my gift)

- no matter how much he drinks, he isn’t able to get drunk

- fr this man can drink stuff that could kill any other human and he’s still fucking sober (at least he seems to)

- But even though he isn’t the usual drunk man, he gets homesick or better he wants to go home to you

- he knows even though he’s still able to put one and one to two he’s not gonna drive home so he would call you

- he’s a ghost, the others wouldn’t notice that he disappeared (at least they would notice when he’s already over the hills)

- love sick puppy

- he had it rough and in times like that he needs you more than anything

- he’s quite emotional when he’s drunk, it’s most likely the only time he’s able to cry and to let out his feelings

- Cuddle with him, praise him, pet him, take care of him, you’re the one he needs the most
