i think it'd be really funny to write a crossover specifically between the latest three TMNT series bc the ingenuity and bold new directions of Rise and Mutant Mayhem leave 2012 - the one that's most faithful to the previous lore - looking like the odd one out.

because, like:

-Rise and MM both have the turtles explicitly call Splinter "dad", while 2012 sticks with the traditional "Master Splinter."

-Rise and MM both have a Splinter character who is neither an ex-martial arts master or Japanese, and in fact barely knows how to do martial arts in general, whereas 2012's Splinter follows the comic origins (a native Japanese man and trained martial artist).

-2012's Splinter also features a backstory element the Rise and MM versions don't: being explicitly related to Shredder.

-Rise and MM both have black/poc Aprils who are fairly similar in both personality and vibes, which makes 2012's April (who's the traditional redheaded version with the same basic "action girl who hangs out with the turtles" template but whose character traits are notably different) stick out uncomfortably in comparison.

-Rise and MM both show Raph as an easily excitable tank, while 2012's Raph is deeply rooted in the cynical guy with a temper from earlier incarnations.

-2012 gives the turtles genuine beef with each other (most notably Leo and Raph fighting over the leadership position). Rise and MM completely handwave that and all of their turtles are chill with each other outside of typical brotherly scrimmages.

-Rise and MM both portray the turtles as unusually skilled novices who win most of their battles by fucking around and finding out, while 2012's turtles are trained fighters with child soldier undertones and the mindsets to match.

i'm not saying there's a sharp divide between 2012 and the other two (there isn't) or that 2012 doesn't share anything with the other two shows (it does), but if you put all three casts of characters together and had them compare their own lore, i think the 2012 characters would seem like weirdos/odd ducks compared to the Rise and MM, which is very funny to think about bc they're the only one of the three who are actually like. recognizably drawing on the characters and concepts of its predecessors.

Altami Headcanons! 💕｡ﾟ( ﾟ^∀^ﾟ)ﾟ｡

I apologize that they just go randomly. I just wrote what came to mind. 😅 Besides Altaïr and Tami, I also gave a few headcanons about Sabina. :3

When they started dating, Altaïr always goes to visit Tami after completing a mission. He either helps her with chores or ranch work or they both read books, cook, watch movies/shows, play video games, draw, or just lounge and cuddle. But from time to time, both of them go on an adventure!

Altaïr was introduced to the TaE Family, who welcomed him with open arms, but some were still uneasy with his presence like Taino, Elphina, Emma, Jarrod and Maiev, but as time passed, they were eventually glad that Altaïr was Tami's faithful partner. Despite this, Altaïr and Jarrod have a bit of a rivalry with each other.

Tami was introduced to the Assassin's Brotherhood later when Altaïr took her to the Falcon's Highlands for the first time. Like her family to her boyfriend, the assassins welcomed her with enthusiasm.

The two are always together. Always. And both become very inseparable after marriage. They do almost everything together, but they don't mind when one of them goes to spend time with family/friends.

Every relationship isn't perfect, and that's true for Altaïr and Tami as well. They rarely have a disagreement about something stupid, they argue and then don't talk to each other for few hours. Nevertheless, they both feel sorry for their beloved, apologize to each other and cuddle together in forgiveness. Fortunately, both of them understand each other very well and can always come to an agreement. Simply, communication, loyalty and affection are the most important for them.

Since Altaïr lost Adha, he doesn't want to let anything happen to Tami and he tends to be overprotective. That was one of the reasons why he always sticks by her side. He kisses her on the face, checks to see if she's eaten/drank, dries her with towel after showering and snuggles up to her while sleeping. Despite this, he still gives Tami space when she needs it and won't allow her to be separated from her family.

Tami tries to say nice words to Altaïr in Arabic, which warms his heart, and he tries to do the same to her, but in Slovak. They both play a guessing game, what the other one says in their native language. Also they address each other with pet names in both Arabic and Slovak.

Both are introverts, so they don't show much affection in public, but when they are alone, they show each other affection in all forms.

Tami can imitate and make animal sounds such as pigeon's cooing, cheetah's chirping and purring and also Hunter's growl. She can even imitate other people's voices. Altaïr learned to purr from her, because the idea of them both purring while cuddling is cute.

Due to the trauma of school, Tami hates being yelled at and starts to shed tears. That's why Altaïr doesn't allow himself to shout at his beloved or their daughter. He cannot be angry at them.

Tami introduced Altaïr to her pets (Beaky, Raven and Kamari). Her partner was unsure at first as he had never seen dinosaurs before (the first time he had seen them from a distance when he got to Havaykia) and a cheetah so close. Tami convinced him that they were friendly and had been riding Beaky together. After a while, Altaïr finally gets used to them.

Altaïr has a pet female golden eagle named Caukasa, whom he found injured in the Island of Eagle and took care of. When he released her back into the wild, Caukasa always followed him until finally he "tamed" her. Caukasa helps him find targets on missions. Altaïr also takes care of abandoned and injured pigeons and doves.

Tami showed him more about dinosaurs and animals, while Altaïr told her about physiology and astronomy. Once she tells him about evolution and he still can't believe that 375 million years ago humans were once fish.

Altaïr's favorite dinosaurs are dromaeosaurids such as Deinonychus, Utahraptor and Velociraptor, as they resemble birds of prey. From the herbivorous dinosaurs, he likes the iguanodontids because of the pointed "thumb" which resembles blade.

Altaïr doesn't like to be without a beard and mustache because he would look like a "kid", but also he doesn't like a long beard for looking like an "old man".

At first, Altaïr thought animation was only for children, but when he and Tami first watched the Lion King, he cried so much at Mufasa's death that his girlfriend had to stop the movie and comfort him. It happened again while watching The Land Before Time (the first one) and he cried again at the death of Little Foot's Mother. Today, he considers animation to be an art form and even prefers watching it over live-action movies/shows.

Altaïr doesn't like sweets, while Tami can't resist the sweet taste, but she tries not to eat it too much. They both love spicy food, especially with chili.

Altaïr used to have a minor ophidiophobia (fear of snakes). Tami's oldest adopted sister, Elphina, is a lover of snakes, and she showed him that snakes are not evil creatures, but misunderstood animals that deserve respect, thanks to which Altaïr overcame this fear.

Of course, Altaïr couldn't swim, and for that he has thalassophobia (fear of deep water). In his old universe, he used to go to wash in a river that wasn't deep, but he usually tries to avoid deep water. According to him, swimming is not suitable for stealth. Because of his inability to swim, his brotherhood mocked him, but Tami and her family decided to help him and taught him to swim on the beach a few kilometers from the ranch. Thanks to them, Altaïr finally learned to swim (at least the basics). Well, once he played Subnautica with Tami, and that made his thalassophobia even deeper.

Tami has tonitrophobia (fear of lightning), acrophobia (fear of heights) and fear of doomsday. One night there was a storm and lightning struck not far from the ranch and Tami was crying in fear. Fortunately, at that time Altaïr was with her and comforted her by cuddling. Tami had trouble with heights when she had to learn the Leap of Faith, but in one mission she was being chased by Templars, so she managed to overcome her fear by jumping into water and escape. And doomsday is her worst fear. She is worried not only about her family and friends, but about nature and everything she loves will lost from existence forever. She is also afraid that after death there will be nothing and she will never see her loved ones. Thankfully, her partner and family always cheer her up.

Their common fear is abandonment. The thought of being left alone is terrifying for them. Altaïr lost his loved ones, while Tami fears that one day her loved ones will leave her.

One day, Altaïr ran away from the hideout to the TaE Family's Ranch for Tami due to he couldn't stand the taunts from the other assassins anymore. He said that the other assassins made fun of Tami as well and that was the last straw for him. TaE Family offered him to stay with them as long as he wanted and he agreed. Surprisingly, Altaïr is more tolerant with TaE Family than his fellow Brotherhood members. Of course, a few days later, Bayek and Amunet came and begged Altaïr to return to the brotherhood, because without him they would not defeat the Templars. At first Altaïr refused, but Tami decided to join the brotherhood, shocking her partner and family. Arriving in Falcon's Highlands, the assassins apologized to Altaïr and never allowed themselves to making fun of him (only playful nudges) since then due to Tami is defending him.

Abbas tried to ruin their relationship (like in Looney Tunes xD) many times, but he never succeeded.

Even though Tami became an assassin, she still doesn't know combat well and prefers to avoid conflict. She mostly uses sleep, berserk and poison darts with a blowpipe, making it easier for her to progress through missions.

Altaïr and Tami were married under a blooming magnolia tree.

Altaïr, Tami and their daughter Sabina were born in the winter season: Tami was born on December 18th, Altaïr on January 11th and Sabina on February 15th.

When Sabina was born, Altaïr decided not to do assassin's missions in order to devote himself to his family and protecting them.

What Altaïr loves most is when he sleeps holding both of his loved ones in his arms and snuggling up to them.

Altaïr and Tami were thinking about having another child, but they were worried about Tami's health or if Sabina would be jealous or if they were even able to take care of two children at once. Only time will tell…

Since childhood, Sabina has been interested in farming, like her family friends, the Palins family.

Altaïr mostly helps Sabina with her homework from school, while Tami helps her with biology and computer science homework.

In Sabina's teens, she starts dating Pablo. Her parents were happy for her, but Altaïr reminded Pablo that if he hurts Sabina, Altaïr will stab him (jokingly of course; and I'm tired of the jealous father trope).

As Sabina grew, Tami realized that sooner or later their daughter would leave them, and she was saddened by this. Altaïr and Sabina comfort her and promise her that they will be together forever. 💗 (this headcanon was inspired by this song 🥹)

How do you manage to write smut that's like, actually arousing? What's the secret?

Well, first of all thank you! I'm glad you enjoy it, I really am. Happy to hear from you here as well 💜

Also, I'll let you in on my secret — I can't stand almost anything I write after it's posted. I see nothing but the flaws, grammatical choices, and technical foibles. This extends triple, quadruple, to smut. So if you're feeling the same kinda way, that your writing feels somehow off, then just know you're not alone.

I could give some pointers, but I don't really know how much benefit anyone will get hearing these from me of all people. But in my opinion it's a lot of the non-smut aspects that highlight the smut and make it shine. So here ya go.

Keep it in-character. I'm not out here talking as an authority on anyone's characterization, nor am I saying I'm some master of it and there are plenty of people out there with differing opinions, so take this with a colossal mountain of salt. But you should focus on making the voices, internal thoughts, and prose in keeping with the POV character. This is something called "POV control" and it's a very useful skill. Be able to flow in and out of a character's POV as the need arises. How Shadowheart interacts with sex is very different from Karlach is different from Orin, for example.

Strong focus on dialogue. This is a sorta addendum to the first point. Characters shouldn't suddenly turn silent when they're having sex. That is, unless that's the point of the story! They should also be speaking in-character even (or especially) during sex. Also, "porn dialogue" is something that gets brought up a lot in writing, and I think we all know it when we read it. That being said, people in the real world do say things during sex that, out of context, are hilarious. So it's a balancing act.

Fitting descriptions. This is actually one of the more important ones! If a scene is very romantic and meant to be light and fluffy, maybe avoid words for genitals altogether and focus entirely on simple visual aesthetics (how moonlight plays on a body, to give an example). If it's meant to be rough and focused on bodies or the mechanics of the scene, ham it up on those words. This also isn't a binary. Things flow back and forth all the time.

Firm language. I don't mean, like, power dynamics "firm." I'm talking about a willingness to use the words that fit the descriptions and sticking to it. Some people despise certain words, but other people will find the alternatives hilarious and completely tone-breaking. Find the words you like and stick to them; consistency gives your voice strength.

Don't try to appease everybody. You just can't. You have to write what you personally enjoy reading/writing/doing/thinking about, and go with it. If you try to cater to everyone's whims with any of the above, you'll wind up with a beige platter of nothingness. That doesn't mean you can't explore other tones or flavors, but don't try to do too much in one story.

Focus on emotions. Emotions could mean anything from love to lust to anxiety to fear to uncertainty and so on and so forth. My strategy is to center a fic on a theme/emotion that resonates with the characters involved and then I explore the smut around that central point. Revisit the idea between the action. Show how the characters' feelings around the theme change or how they're reaffirmed.

haruka and takane are literally said to be experimented on but we never know what exactly happens to them and rly they didnt Have to get experimented on to get to where they end up on, just killed. but also its so much more fun to imagine they do get experimented on. my hc is since their red eyes case is kinda unique the experimenting bit also plays a part in the way saeru cheats the system to get 2 snakes out in 1 day. cuz technically ONE snake should be out by killing two people. for 2 snakes to get out you’d need 4 people!!

also something i never got is HOW is ayano able to open the daze by herself and keep one snake when it’s supposed to be when 2 people die. all 3 of their cases are a little ridiculous or i just personally dont get it. i take pride in understanding kagepro but ayano’s thing is something i never quite got lol. HOW DO ALL 3 GET A SNAKE IF THEY DIE ALONE(?) i thought maybe the daze opens for ayano bc haruka and takane’s deaths already opened it that day?? we dont rly know if ayano dies before or after haruka and takane after all. erm. 1 million thoughts in tags like always

#IDC. takane has scars on her scalp from saeru messing with her brain for shit like her spirit to be able to leave for opening eyes #LIKE... im writing an au where scar wasnt one of the founding members of boatem and just Pops up one day w his huge wagon, disturbing the very foundation of the village with his salesman grin, and initially it seems hes trying to start an industry there but hes really just running from his fucked up past and trying to make a living and let me just say that NOBODY in universe is enjoying this (he is getting rocks thrown at him by the boatem crew)

You mentioned a deleted reporter character who used to be intensely pro-monarchy but is now anti-monarchy. PLS tell us abt this character 🙏🙏

I will elaborate and you can decide for yourself if I should have kept the character in the story.

The central premise for this character is what I stated before, which was that there was a reporter who in the past published sensationalized stories about the war (a lot of yellow journalism) who in the present day was now anti-monarchy

The reporter was a neutral-to-antagonistic character, depending on how the reader would feel about their perspectives

(One of the reasons I cut this character was that I couldn't come up with a personality that wasn't the archetypal 1920s reporter, so excuse me if I am vague about the reporter's personal details)

So the reporter was a commoner who lived in Castle Town who wanted to make it big in order to pull themself out of poverty; they were the protege of a more well-known journalist who died in the crossfire

The reporter carved a space for themselves as a pseudo official journalist for the Royal Crown and would meet with the nobles constantly to spread war propaganda and reframe any failings

So a lot of yellow journalism

You know how in CTB, Warriors mentions how there are all these pamphlets the Sheikah publish about him to cover up his bad behavior and generally increase his good image? All that was stuff I intended for this reporter to write

The reporter was more of a neutral force at this time, as they were very eager to boost Warriors's image; meanwhile, Warriors always thought the reporter was sleazy and hated talking to them

Sometime between the end of the War of Eras and the beginning of this new war in the present day, the reporter had a reckoning with their role in the previous war

Essentially, the reporter realized that things are as bad for the common people because the reporter did not do their duty to properly report accurate information on the monarchy and the goings of the war

So the reporter was now out to spread only the truth

(I think I was also going to imply that the reporter was only changing their views because anti-monarchy sentiments were popular among the people, and so it would be more profitable to be on the anti-war side instead of the pro-war side)

The problem is that the reporter was intent on painting not only Zelda, but also Warriors as the villains in the past as they released various papers revising what they had previously written and exposing the truth

Imagine articles exposing how taxes were used or how nobles were buying up war ravaged land from farms, or how Warriors used his fame from being the hero to build wealth; stuff like that

I played around with the reporter needing to possibly go into hiding in order to avoid being arrested for treason by Sheikah, or having the reporter be Sheikah themselves to give them an advantage to avoid capture

Present day Warriors would still loathe this reporter for still painting him as the bad guy, but also would recognize needing to be on the reporter's good side in order to control his image, which would be helpful for him later in the story

So why did I deleted this plot line? Not only could I not figure out how to humanize this character beyond their archetype, but the idea for the plotline was fundamentally at odds with a much more important idea I had for the story

The reporter's plotline was based on stuff I learned and discussed in a Media and Politics class I took in college, which discussed how journalism and such affected democracy. But Hyrule isn't a democracy and an essential part of the Turncoat Revolt was that the commoners had no choices. The reporter's plotline assumed that the the common people had a choice and were manipulated by their media into making the wrong one.

I couldn't figure out how to rework the reporter's plotline into one that would fit with an absolute monarchy. So when it was time for me to trim back some of my ideas, this one had to go (though it was a very painful cut)

god, just imagine 20-somethings Tony who has marveled at the technological wonder that is the Iron Man suit his whole life just happening across THE Steve Rogers at some bar somewhere and Steve is like "It's been so long since I've served as Iron Man, I didn't know people still cared about that old tin can" and Tony is like "you don't fucking understand i've had figurative wet dreams about the suit (and literal wet dreams about you hahaha 😳😳) and I think you're so goddamn cool" and for some reason Steve has an old version of the suit at his home and he invites Tony over to come tinker around with it in his garage like it's a classic car and Steve is posing like he is in Silver Fox Small Steve 2 (see above) while Tony's elbows deep in the backplate's hydraulic weight redistribution mechanisms and getting all dirty and greasy and Steve is telling Tony about the intricacies of how the suit's power units interface with his cardiovascular system and Tony is hanging on to his every word and maybe Tony is like can I see the ports where the suit connects to you, and Steve takes off his shirt and before anyone knows it Tony is on his knees slonking that man's shit silly style god bless

One day I'm gonna finish the stories in my head into novels on pages and well

On the upside I'll be able to print them out and go look up vampire and faerie and demon dark fantasy stories mixed with mundane reality to my very specific indulgent tastes whenever I want

Other upside I'll be able to free up all The Real Estate in my brain these stories take up to remember until they're finally written down so I can Forget Some Of It

#rant #literally ive considered just writing a note list of all plot points #which would be like The Blank Files history bullet points (cause this oc universe spans at least? 300 years plus gods origin story for the #faes that goes to around sevetal thousand years ago)#but that book of bullet points on its OWN would be hundreds of pages #so when its that long. id rather just write a novel then forget X chunk (since i can referencecthat novel)#then move to the next portion

The script (esp. dialogue) of Would You Rather migth be... not my favourite. (And after seeing the cover art i was siked for eye torture, but there was barely any :( .) But whoever wrote this clearly had a vision for hot sadistic game master.

obv enjoys making people hurt and beg and abandon their ideals. and breaking people

at the same time very strict rule system he set up for himself and which he has to obide to. compulsive. (imagine he couldnt handle the uncertainty of not playing by rule system)

i mean this is a pretty simplistic formula for a hot fictional bad man (gender neutral) but i bet this would work on me every time

(also the story is perfectly written to self-insert. like, the author knew what they were doing. i was thinking "huh why does this feel so much like a fanfic" from the very beginning. like this is day-dream porn or whatever. (bold of me to say bc i've red like maybe one fanfic in my lifetime so who knows what fanfic is actually like. but this is what i imagine fanfic culture is (partly) about))

I was punched and pepper sprayed by cops that my university administration set on student protesters yesterday. Including once where a cop ripped my mask off my face, grabbed my jaw, and sprayed pepper sprayed straight into my mouth. The university sent out an alert in the middle of our protest canceling classes for the rest of the day, only citing “adverse conditions”. After protesters dispersed under threat of even more violence and three buses of riot police from all over the state with rubber bullets and bully sticks parked in front of one our school’s famous landmarks. I staggered over to a couple of friends who were watching on the sidelines. They gave me water and an apple and held a bag of ice on my very pepper spray irritated face. As they were walking me back to my dorm we ran into one of their roommates. She had taken cancelled classes as an opportunity to get crumbl cookie with her friends. Standing in front of her, happy in a floral blouse with her box of cookies, in my pepper spray and water soaked tshirt, keffiyeh sadly hanging off my shoulder, holding an ice pack to my mouth, felt like a slap in the face.

After putting my pepper spray soaked clothes, shoes, and keffiyeh in a plastic bag and taking an extraordinarily painful shower, a friend and I went for dinner just off campus. There we had a pot of green tea and ramen to soothe pepper sprayed throats. We got ice cream after (shared a cup with chocolate and raspberry pomegranate with strawberry pieces on top, it was very good). From our spot outside the ice cream place we watched a steady stream of groups of sorority girls in matching jeans shorts and blue bikini tops walking back to their apartments after some apparently raucous parties. The cognitive dissonance was insane. I really felt a little like I was going crazy.

Even this morning, waking up to the smeared sharpie of the National Lawyer’s Guild’s phone number on my arm, a black and blue chest from where a grown man straight up clocked me while I was held up by two other protesters in a wall, and a still sore throat and eyes from the pepper spray, life goes on like normal. I still have final papers to write and a math exam to review for.

I’m not sure I really have a point. But, this feeling only makes me want to fight harder for a free Palestine. So, fuck Israel for being an apartheid state and all of their crimes over the last 76 years. Fuck university administration for not disclosing their level of investment in Israel. Fuck university administration for not divesting from this genocide. Fuck Joe Biden for actively supporting this genocide. And fuck the police.
