“Miami Vice:” The Series Finale
Crockett and Tubbs embark on one last rodeo before parting ways in the series finale of “Miami Vice.”
Don Johnson and Philip Michael Thomas, as they appeared in the series finale of “Miami Vice,” titled “Freefall.” (NBC)
It was the show that hit it out of the park. Starting with a timeless pilot episode directed by Michael Mann, theme composed by Jan Hammer, and stars Don Johnson (Crockett) and Philip Michael Thomas (Tubbs), “Miami Vice” encapsulated the height of 1980s fashion and pop culture.
They routinely went undercover in Miami’s criminal underworld as members of the fictional Miami police vice squad. They also drove nice cars (Ferrari Daytona and Testarossa, Cadillac Coupe de Ville), dated beautiful women, and Crockett lived on a yacht in Biscayne Bay called St. Vitus Dance (most recently docked in Key West).
It was a life of vice, and they were just living it.

The last episode of “Miami Vice,” the 21st and 22nd of the fifth season and 113th and 114th overall, first aired in prime time Sunday, May 21, 1989 on NBC.
In “Freefall,” Crockett and Tubbs are recruited by the feds to protect a corrupt South American dictator involved in illicit drug trade, as the two find themselves increasingly disillusioned with the work of vice.
Original supporting cast members Michael Talbott (Stan), Saundra Santiago (Gina), and Olivia Brown (Trudy), as well as Edward James Olmos (Marty), appear in the two part, two hour conclusion of the series.

DISABILITY IN SOUTH PARK
FROM A DISABLED PERSON'S POINT OF VIEW.
A lot of people shit on South Park’s portrayal of well, everything, but as a disabled person myself, I would like to praise the show for its disabled characters.
In this post, I’ll be focusing on: Timmy, Ned, Jimmy, Mimsy, Nathan, and all of the other disabled characters shown in the series.
Firstly, we have the earliest episode featuring a disabled person, Nurse Gollum. She appears in the episode ‘Conjoined Foetus Lady’, and I have a lot of praise for this episode. This episode accurately portrays the abled bodied saviour complex and how abled bodied people will refuse to acknowledge that aspect of their identity because of the aforementioned abled bodied saviour complex. Sheila in this episode represents the able bodied savour, always trying to police the others on what to say and not to, even though she is not Nurse Gollum. Sheila also hosts the festivals for Nurse Gollum, celebrating her disability as something inspirational and beautiful, but as a disabled person, that shit is not true. It’s neither great nor horrible, it’s just a normal part of our life that exists. This is what she herself states in the episode, saying that this kind of celebration is aggravating and counter productive, saying that she only wants to live a normal life, instead of being celebrated for every little thing she does because of her disability.
This episode is one of my favourites featuring the disabled characters of South Park, because it feels very accurate (although exaggerated for comedic effect) to what me and many other disabled people go through on an everyday basis.
Another example of displaying abled bodied savourism is in the season 4 episode, ‘Timmy 2000’, in the subplot of the episode, Timmy joins a band called ‘The Lords of The Underworld’ and competes with Phil Collins, who presents concern for Timmy as he thinks that people are laughing at Timmy, which is an unfair assumption for an abled bodied person to make. This kind of assumption that whenever a disabled person does something and is given praise, it's because it's out of pity or amusement (at their disability - not what they are doing), which I personally believe says more about the person saying that rather than the consumers of the media. Matt and Trey seem to agree with me on that sentiment in the episode, when Stan says: ‘The people that are wrong are the ones that think people like Timmy should be "protected" and kept out of the public's eye. The cool thing about Timmy being in a band was that he was in your face, and you had to deal with him’. This quote additionally makes a very important comment about disabled visibility and how it is needed for people like me to be seen thriving, living everyday lives and not sharing our sob stories constantly to make our society unhook the chains of ableism within the world, and this message has been shown all throughout the series.
The show across all seasons, we consistently see characters like Ned, Jimmy, Timmy, etc, living everyday lives, having a job or going to school, being treated the same for simply being a person, they are never denied of their disabilities or praised for them, but instead it is acknowledged and made into nothing sort of a big deal. Matt and Trey have never infantilized them, making them just as vulgar and inappropriate as the rest of the able bodied cast, and I love that, so so much.
Matt and Trey show that its possible to add disabled characters in a comedy without making fun of them (I mean, they certainly have made fun of them, but I think the way they go about it is forgivable when the entire cast is made fun of for whatever).
Anyways, sorry for the long walls of text and all, I just wanted to say thank you to Matt + Trey, the rest of the South Park team for calling out this ableism and following through the sentiment with actions. This has been my take on the disabled characters from South Park as a disabled person, thank you for your time. :D

buUuuuUT– to answer your question, yeah kinda!!! ive thought about a (sorta) chainsaw man au for south park ever since i got this ask. it was fun to think about!
luckily, you don’t have to have read chainsaw man to understand this au rlly. it’s p simple and based off satan!stan’s appearance in the show too. also here’s some sketches i did!
basically,
stan ends up permanently fusing himself with satan after a near death experience. being fused with the devil himself grants him immense power but he’s not sure what to do with it now. he’s then recruited by an organization that specializes in exterminating the more deadly and mischievous demons that run amuck on earth... but what he doesn’t realize now is that he’s basically become the no. 1 target of the underworld since he’s fused with well— satan. i plan to make a certain son of satan the "antagonist" but honestly, he's got a decent reason to try and kill stan... but alas ill save the other details for later ;)
also i think i’ll probably add some more devil hybrids (and maybe even angel hybrids?) in this au too, but that’s for later as well! here's another drawing of stan being a little smug.

Got bored and decided that it was the perfect time to start my South Park Camp Half-Blood AU
(I’m going to conveniently forget that all children of Athena have blonde hair and grey eyes for this!)
Stan Marsh; Son of Aphrodite
I was originally stuck between Apollo, Hecate, and Aphrodite for him, but ended up settling of Aphrodite, because idk he just seems like a romantic to me, he always cared about his relationship with Wendy, and it just made sense to me idk
(Aphrodite is the goddess of love, lust, beauty, pleasure, passion and procreation)
Kyle Broflovski; Son of Athena
This one is easier to explain, Kyle is shown time and time again to be the smartest and most logical of the main four boys, so it was only right for him to be a son of the goddess of wisdom
(Athena is the goddess of wisdom, handicraft, and warfare)
Kenny McCormick; Son of Hades
“Oh my God, they killed Kenny!” is probably what Hades says every time he has to bring his son back to life. Hades is the god of the underworld, Kenny dies a lot, perfect father son relationship
(Hades is the god of the dead and the underworld. King of the Underworld)
Eric Cartman; Son of Ares
Eric is an asshole, he’s probably even seen as an asshole among the other Ares kids. I bet you he’s Ares’ favorite tho
(Ares is the god of courage and war)
Leopold “Butters” Stotch; Son of Persephone
I just thought it would be cute tbh, plus I think it matches his personality
(Persephone is the goddess of spring, life, death, grain, and destruction. She is also the Queen of the Underworld)
Craig Tucker; Son of Hecate
Space makes me think of magic and Craig is a space nerd, plus I think he just totally wouldn’t give a fuck that he has such a badass mom

we thought we’d take this random opportunity to recommend you some of our favourite sci-fi reads!
alli’s rec: the red rising series by pierce brown
this series was such an emotional rollercoaster. its structure follows that hunger games meets divergent classic dystopian revolution plotline, but with a really unique alien twist. darrow is one of my favorite male protagonists to ever read, and you get to see him face hardships that slowly transform him from boy to young man. it also wouldn’t be one of my favs without fantastic supporting characters, and it’s got a spectacular almost found family element. as with most revolutionary narratives, its got its fair share of tragedy, but if you know me, you know i’m a sucker for the sad shit and it handles it really gracefully in my opinion. (you got it, kids, no CHEAP CHARACTER DEATHS IN THIS HOUSE! WE DON’T STAN THOSE)

grace’s rec: the border keeper by kerstin hall
okay so i’m cheating a lil’ bit with this one because alli reads much more sci-fi than me (i’m a high fantasy gal through-and-through). the border keeper is technically sci-fi but it doesn’t necessarily feel like a straight sci-fi read. it is, however, my favourite read this year so far (even though it came out in 2019). it counts okay! anyway you should read it because the way it is written is just *chef’s kiss* beautiful (if you’re into the weird, slightly disjointed, and arguably pretentious, side of fantasy like i am). also good dialogue is my everything and this ticks that box for me!

Oscar Jaenada. I first saw him in the Losers and promptly watched everything he’d ever been in, regardless of whether I could find subtitles for it. He’s hot, and talented, and super quirky irl. His comedies are amazing, but bring extra tissues to some of his dramas because he WILL MAKE YOU CRY.
Park Min Young. I first saw her in “What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim” which you should watch immediately. She’s so pretty, and has great comedic timing. I’m waiting for her new show, where she plays a massive fangirl, to air and get subbed. I haven’t seen much of her in interviews or behind the scenes in stuff, but she’s so pretty that sometimes I’ll forget to read the subtitles on her shows. She’s the newest addition to my “will watch anything you’re in” list.
Idris Elba. I first saw him as Heimdall, then went out and binged Luther. Fun fact, if you watch The Wire, which is a show about Baltimore drug dealers, you can see my first apartment in the background in several shots. I didn’t live there at the time, as I would have become a fan of his MUCH sooner if I’d ever seen Stringer Bell in person. Can play a god, a super villian, a dj nanny, a morally grey cop. Also SEXIEST MAN ALIVE.
Sebastian Stan. Been a fan since he was a fetus in the Covenant. I have seen everything he’s ever been in. He’s just getting hotter with age, too. He’s an amazing actor, super sweet in interviews, and genuinely loves what he does for a living. His friendships with other actors are amazing to watch.
Donnie Yen. He’s been on the list longer than almost anyone. I used to buy his movies at the VHS bootleg stand in the mall when I was in highschool (It was the 90s, what the else was there to do?!). I used to drive all over the state to find his movies. I own just about every movie he’s ever been in. In fact, last night I watched a movie of his. Also gets hotter with age. His movies can be very terrible tho, fair warning. Even by my standards they can be super bad. Has his wife’s name tattood on his him and will show you, it’s adorable how much he loves her. Actual cinnamon roll irl.
