Okay, so there's this legend where I'm from, in which the Sun literally raises everyday, and then, every night dies, and goes to The Underworld, if the Sun is capable of going through it all, and raising victorious from it, he gets to be reborn, and gets to shine once more, before dying once again, and repeating his adventure through The Underworld.
And if that isn't just the most Nipollo concept ever.

"Come on, it’s not like we’re cursed or something. Are we cursed?"
ST Epic Cycle AU feat. Nancy and Jonathan as Odysseus and Penelope (Pre-marriage (and race))
Psst, if you're curious, the dialogue is from The Weaver and the Carver , which is a very good Odypen fic, just saying. It is an Odysseus and Penelope meeting fic set to the backdrop of Helen's first kidnapping and is very well-written.

Do you think Pompey (and potentially Cassius) had anything to do with Ariamnes' misleading of Crassus?
not really as far as pompey goes, maybe a little bit for cassius! there’s some textual conflict about the role of ariamnes in the expedition & to me it feels a more like it came from a pro-cassius account, potentially from cassius himself, to further cement the narrative that the expedition was doomed every step of the way and to paint cassius’ own role in a positive light, probably in part to justify or absolve him of the fact that cassisus deserted his commander (when he split off from octavius and crassus in plutarch’s account. regardless of whether or not this was planned between the surviving commanders or not, it looks bad, and in plutarch’s narrative, it is desertion, no matter what justifications were given)

I really don't get why people take Will not getting why people would want to live in the Underworld so much worse than every other character's bad opinions on the place. Like... Will has a very pressing, understandable reason for hating the Underworld: it is literally killing him. The place is lethal for him. Of course he doesn't understand why anyone would want to live in a place that is essentially torture for him! He's suffering every second that he's there, of course it takes him a bit to see the good in the place! Will has a justification for his failure to grasp why anyone would ever be happy in the Underworld that no one else in the main cast does, but him hating the place is treated as uniquely bad. Like, yes, he's dating Nico and Nico is clearly upset that his boyfriend doesn't get how he could be happy in a place that was his only home for some time, I'm not claiming that Will's response to the Underworld is good, but he doesn't take the place any worse than anyone else does and he at least learns to see the good in the place in a way no one else ever does. Will is clearly suffering with every second he spends in the Underworld, but him taking a bit to recognize the good parts of it (and eventually coming to accept it more than any other character from the very start of the Riordanverse ever does! Will coming to see the good side of the Underworld and even recognizing that there is genuine beauty there is really good!) is worse than Percy insisting the Underworld brings out the worst in people (with zero evidence beyond it being the site of the one time Nico had a priority other than Percy) or the Seven constantly calling Nico creepy for being intensely traumatized by Tartarus? Come on. Now to be fair it is more noticeable in TSatS than it is in most of the other books since they spend so much time in the Underworld, but Will's actual opinions of the place are no worse than anyone else's, a lot more justified, and he actually learns better in a way basically no one else does.
Like, absolutely that whole subplot could've been handled better. I think there were better ways to have a fun, nuanced discussion about a couple who are in some ways antithetical to each other on a fundamental level, who love each other enough to work through that but naturally run into some snags along the way. And it is a character flaw, although fortunately one that actually gets resolved. But the way I keep seeing people talking about Will not liking the Underworld and not seeing why anyone would want to live there when the Underworld is proving fatal to him just by being there like it's somehow worse than everyone else's responses to the Underworld and to Nico himself as a person when their only justification is "Uhhhhhhhh it's creepy and he's creepy" and most of them (other than Jason and to a lesser extent Reyna who was as far as we see less weird about it to begin with) never change their minds just really pisses me off.

The pomegranate is most famously attributed to the Greek goddess, Persephone. Though versions of the story differ: with some saying Persephone was tricked into eating pomegranate seeds to be trapped in the underworld, and some saying she willingly chose to eat the seeds.
Pomegranate's have a hard exterior that is tough to crack. Your hard shell is a natural protectant and keeps you safe from those that only wish to use you. Internally you are rich with bounties. You believe in living your life passionately and vibrantly. The idea of surrendering to a fate of being confined to anything, whether it be a relationship, a job, or family dynamic where you are not happy and lack agency is a terrifying prospect.
It is fears like this which also prevent you from opening up and showing vulnerability to those around you. However, like the pomegranate whose seeds sparkle like gemstones, you hide inside you incredible beauty that only the most worthy deserve to see.
