Looking at all of the messed up boss forms during the Neutral Flowey fight

I just want to talk about them i like them a lot. i was very obsessed with help_tale when i was younger and that's probably why. spoilers below cut, and body horror warning because of the topic ofc.

Decibat

Starting with Decibat, no eyes and a stomach mouth. Awesome!! The stomach mouth kinda goes along with Decibat's noise theme - HUGE MOUTH is loud and Decibat wants quiet.

Dalv

Out of all of the Flowey forms only 2 actually made me jump and this is one of them. Creepy eye things get to me and that’s why this is one of my favorites. It's really simple but it's great. Also the way it glitches sometimes makes it look like he has more than 2 eyes, which I'm not sure if it's on purpose but it's still neat!

I do wonder what would be under the cloak, like would it just be normal Dalv? The void? Something like the Deer Lord from Spooky’s Jumpscare Mansion? idfk. His face being obscured is like how Dalv obscures his face with his cloak for the majority of Dark Ruins, and since we don't really get to know him due to killing him, we don't get to see his real face..

Martlet

Martlet technically doesn’t have a form like the others but I didn’t want to leave her out. This scene does a great job at being unsettling with the lack of talking portrait and the slowed down Snowdin imo. i really like how her hugging animation changes for just that One Frame, it's slow enough that you'll probably catch it but quick enough that you might be wondering if you imagined it.

And then there's the whole "I'm so happy I found you! So happy I found you. I found you." that happens and then her face melts to reveal the Eye. The eye is in grayscale, like Flowey is during the second phase of his fight, so I wonder if it's meant to be HIM looking at you through Martlet.

And the melting parallels her death in No mer- hey wait, why does Martlet melt in both routes where she dies? Like??? I mean, she does have connections to Alphys and the True Lab so like...or maybe i'm just over thinking it. Either way this ones cool, if I knew pixel art I would try to make a form for her like the others have.

El Bailador

I think a lot of people believe this is the scariest one and....yeah. This is the other one that actually made me jump. The smile, the Eyes, it's fucking scary i hate this one (positive). The large strained smile goes with how El Bailador wants to make everyone happy with his dancing even though some prefer quiet, which he doesn't realize. does that make sense idk if that makes sense.

Starlo

Oh boy plant growth body horror! Yeah this one’s good. The vines growing out from his face, the weirdly elongated hands, the way the piece of straw on his hat changes to a flower. Honestly I have 0 clue what is going on with his face. Very cool. I also just noticed the holes in his poncho, like bullet holes? i saw someone say he's still hot on twitter and im scared

Ceroba

Ceroba's gets bonus points for being one of the rarer ones, because you have to abort a No Mercy route to see it. Besides that, no face! Wahoo! Plus her bow has changed to have a flower in it, which matches Starlo.

My favorite thing though is that the way pixels are scattered (i cannot find the right wording for this) kinda makes it look like she's constantly turning into dust which is really cool!! I think her face might be obscured for the same reason as Dalv, considering you have to be in No Mercy to see this you never get to know who Ceroba is.

Guardener

Overgrown robots overgrown robots overgrown robots. She already was overgrown but it gets more turned up with this one which makes me very happy, I love overgrown robots and machinery. All the vines get changed into flowers as well to fit, yippee! The Delta Rune logo on her chest is also scratched out, which is one way to send a message...

Axis

I like how the lack of face here parallels both how axis dies in No Mercy AND the death of the blue soul. This one's very cool, though i wish there were some more wires in his face like his death sprite in No Mercy has. thats a weird thing to wish for isnt it. Actually now that I'm looking at it more, it kinda looks like a mouth? That might just be because of the things at the top and bottom, I'm not sure if it's meant to be a mouth.

Oh! And the heart in his chest is missing, which hurts because both ways you can spare him involve filling his heart (either with Daisy or compliments. Also, Axis' neutral route spare is extremely cute, please go check it out if you haven't seen it.)

anyway thanks for reading through teehee my favorites are probably dalv’s ceroba’s and guardener’s. i have to wonder what the Feisty Four would have looked like in this? They don't get any because well, they don't die, but I like them...I don't really have any ideas myself, though. ok bye

i had to bring this up sorry but. i love how Twitter folks are already jumping on Noah after the S5 set pic and saying they all must hate him (including Millie) as if they know these people personally, its giving parasocial 😭 yes wishing brutal death on a fictional character and calling Noah slurs while having zero tweets about Palestine besides that is peak activism thank you for your service! have your free points for contributing nothing to the cause but at the same time letting everyone know just how much you are on the right side. i know what you are.

Maya and Amybeth are the only people on the cast picture that showed a form of support for Palestine. the others? we dont fucking know. stop assuming they would "jump" Noah and Brett, are mad at them, etc. its the same type of mistake ppl made when gushing over Noah then getting jumpscared when he revealed he has controversial views. these are celebrities, not your pals, stop getting so attached to them then mope when newsflash they pull something disappointing.

Will isnt getting offed in the first ep or fired when Shawn and Duffers (Ross atleast, but I sincerely doubt Matt disagrees with him) have views like Noah…

no, discussing the show isnt a sin and makes you trashy. just 🏴‍☠️ the goddamn thing like a normal person.

Paul McCartney’s new AI Beatles Song

Paul McCartney has revealed in an interview with the BBC broadcast Tuesday that a "final Beatles record" has been made with the help of artificial intelligence. McCartney did not name the song that has been recorded but according to the BBC it is likely to be a 1978 Lennon composition called "Now And Then". The recording will be released sometime later this year.

I got a wee lil jumpscare at first, but I think Paul’s quote’s been mischaracterized by these headlines.

John’s vocal already exists! They’re not generating John’s voice via AI! They wanna clean it up with the same tools they used during the Get Back doc! I think that’s okay!

And from Paul on the BBC Channel 4 interview:

...And we were able to use that kind of thing when Peter Jackson did the film Get Back, where it was us making the Let It Be album. He was able to extricate John’s voice from a rumpy little bit of cassette that had John’s voice and a piano. He could separate them with AI, and he could tell the machine, “That’s a voice. This is a guitar. Lose the guitar.” And he did that, so it has great uses.

So when we came to make what will be the last Beatles record, it was a demo that John had, that we worked on. We were able to take John’s voice and get it pure, through this AI, so then we could mix the record as you normally do.

Idk if you're still talking about Alex Kiss-My-Asster, but tbh I've never been a huge fan of him in the first place. It isn't just because of the tweets he made that I've disagreed with, though.

This may just be a personal gripe to me, but in TMC, Alex uses actual police sketches in the series. There's only two that I'm actually aware of: the first, more obvious one is Derrick Todd Lee, with his police sketch used as a jumpscare in Volume 1. Lee had been arrested for stalking before the murder charges of seven women were made against him.

The second one is a bit trickier to find, and I couldn't find the name of the guy, but the initial Intruder pic was also a police sketch. An article made in 2007 (a thread of the evidence plus OG Reddit post where I found this info: https: //twitter. com/SociableBarely/status/1533958333157191680?lang=en) was made about a man in Kirkwood, Missouri. His crimes were less severe than Lee (this guy just breaking-and-entering, hitting the woman who owned the home, and stealing some of her more expensive stuff) but the fact is that Alex still used a criminal's sketch in his horror series.

Compared to his actions that's been revealed recently, I know using actual police sketches probably isn't a huge deal. Still, despite it being 2 years ago at this point, the fact Alex still used two criminals, with one being a serial killer, as appearances for his characters in TMC irks me a ton.

yeah, a lot of people went on him for doing this since while it's kinda edgy to put real life tragedies and people as material or appearances for your content, it's still kinda oof when one of the sketches used was of an actual rapist and murderer -- he could have just did the whole thispersondoesnotexist thing

he was just turning 18, i believe, so many people gave him the benefit of the doubt when he decided to go to artists for that once he's gotten enough money

i don't know who you are............but you're so right, hold on i have things to say on this i want to say my personal discomfort stems from my..bordering unhealthy attatchment to scarab as my f/o [as i type this the body pillow is LOOKING at me] hence why i don't and never really liked..interacting with the ship, but to each their own yaknow? if you like the pair i won't come at you. [and this still goes, pwish shipping mutuals i don't hate yall] ive just had people take my scarab yearning posts before tag it as "haha prismo coded" and its upset me before It was only when the the whole reveal in episode 10 with scarab to me shown stuck in the time room now that the ship got very saturated which i get, But the more attention drawn to the ship the more it drew in........a really bad crowd. a lot and i mean a LOT of proshippers. I want to say its died down now as i don't see much gross scarab content nowadays [then again i stick to tumblr.] but it really bothered me how scarab was treated. i enjoy prismo very much as a charecter i think he's a silly guy but he has not burrowed a nest into my skull like scarab has so i want to say i'm only qualified to talk about scarab in this regard. The community [i want to state casual shippers this is not you. this is very specific people] had a habit of ......putting scarab in compromising positions teetering on s/a [most of the time this was done using nightmo as prismo's "evil mode?"] and in a lot of comics and fics they water scarab down to this "NOT LIKE I LIKE YOU OR ANYTHING GRR" type of charecter..ignoring....evreything interesting about him. [i want to say good pwish fics likley exist..i just don't read them as for personal reasons the ship makes me uncomfortale.] also.....orbo got caught in the crossfire and he god DEMONIZED over a headcanon. [i like the headcanon but holy scales guys..chill on the ball dude a bit?] I think the ships main problem is it caught on so fast that it attracted some really bad crowds and since scarab is a very new charecter to the adventure time universe, any solo enjoyment of him was swept away in favor of shipping him with prismo.,,,,,,,speaking of prismo...so many artists in this community will WHITEWASH his ass also this....community has a problem with exposing nsfw content to minors. granted this is an issue ive only seen on twitter but in the begining of pwish getting popular i'd check the scarab tag like evrey few hours [yeah i....i love this man.] and withought FAIL i'd get what i dub "scarab pussy jumpscared" because artists would not know how to tag their porn. i enjoy hunting for rare sampo content on twitter as more ppl get into star rail, and find it fascinating how i've started seeing an uptick in people declaring him a 'himbo' and 'stupid' or only emotionally intelligent w/o any other intelligence. like, u all have to realize he is deliberately radiating himbo energy.

my man would not be a successful con artist if he were truly that stupid.

he is an active, wanted criminal. he has a padded wallet thanks to his exploits. the silvermane guard, an elite force of soldiers in belobog, have not been able to catch him for the life of them.

the deliberate act of emotionally disarming his audience is very much intentional--he plays stupid to avoid drawing too much attention and to make those around him assume he is far more inept than he actually is.

this is a seedy bastard who has way more going under the surface than he'll ever allow you to see.

can't wait for everyone to get jumpscared by him turning the tables and revealing there is far more going on than the shallow persona sampo presents to the world.

I love everything Mike does tbh, even the midnight club lmao! (Which so many people disliked??)

But my favourite has to be Haunting Of Hill House. I’ve watched his movies before and I liked them! But his shows are just so top notch, it’s insane.

So Hill House is my absolute favourite and obviously the famous car jumpscare lmao! (I actually don’t scare easily, most jumpscares don’t get me but that one had me violently flinching 😂) I just love the story and the actors and the characters. Who’s your favourite from hill house?? Mine has always been Luke! Idk why but I just adore him…

Also, the iconic the rest is confetti scene? I still cry about it.

But I do also love Bly Manor and Midnight Mass. I love Rahul Kohli so these two also have a special place in my heart!

Tbh, Owen and Hannah in Bly was so much more emotional to me than the main story. I freaking love them and my heart is absolutely broken, still!

And midnight mass is sooo good too! Rahul is phenomenal in it! And that scene with Erin and Riley on the water with the little boat… holy shit.

Also love Kate Siegel and I love that she’s in everything, like power couple!!! (like tell me that’s not Dieter if he were to ever become a director. He would so cast his wife in everything he possibly can lmao)

I just freaking love everything this guy makes and I love so many of the actors and that he uses them in so many other projects too! I’m so excited to see what’s he gonna do with Amazon (also I love that he’s on tumblr always answering asks, so freaking cool!!)

Haunting of Hill House really is in entire league of its own. When I say I like ghost stories, that's exactly what I mean. Themes of grief, and love, and family, and trauma -- all manifested into a literal haunting. Truly unmatched. How Nell literally haunts the narrative the whole time -- she was dead from page one but that ends up mattering more than anything else to save her family. Destroys me every time!!

As for my favorite Crane child, i think my favorites are definitely Nell and Luke -- the twin connection was unreal and how deep it got as more was revealed -- CHILLS! I also see a lot of overlap between Dieter and Luke, so maybe that's why we like him so much!

Growing up in the south, I had some negative experiences with structured religion and Midnight Mass was a wonderful place to explore those feelings in a healthy way. Plus, vampire priest???? GALAXY LEVEL BRAIN. And as a personal point of joy, I love that they styled Rahul after Joel 😆😆

If my wife was Kate Siegal, I would put her in EVERYTHING. She's so talented -- I love that Flanagan uses a handful of actors every time. My personal opinion is that the mark of a good actor is how versatile their characters are and Kate is fantastic at that! Her performance in Hush is one of my top favorite horror movie performances!

With Twitter X going down as a sinking ship and more people search for an alternative, I'm wondering who else is going to show up on here! 😆 It makes me nervous because I definitely wrote some Midnight Mass fic back in the day and my nightmare is that he or anyone from the show finds it! 😅 I very much appreciate a large space between fandoms and the creators of the initial medium.

Playstation Trailer: Security Breach

I. Am. EXTATIC! This is going to be fun!

The new updated trailer for FNAF: Security Breach came out on Playstation and these are my thoughts on it and what it revealed. Since its coming on December 16th, we have plenty of time! The majority of the screenshots are taken from Kane Carter’s twitter, so a massive thank you to him. Others come from the FNAF wiki.

Gameplay Mechanics:

1: The Watch

The cameras are updated amazingly, with the new graphics showcasing not only a color palleted, but also accurate lighting depending on the room. They are accessed via the Fazbear security watch Gregory dons, and can be given a “map” setting that is in the bottom right-hand corner.

Come to think of it, the fact that there is a map suggests we can expand it to showcase where Gregory is as well as the individual animatronics. Not only that, but we could also find a safe way to avoid getting captured by the various animatronics and perhaps enter new levels. Neat! (That is, if the first image above is on the watch).

It’s also, and this is taken from the previous trailer, that it can help us tell how much power we have in our flashlight. That and how much power Freddy has before he have to recharge him.

The “logs” setting seems to match the “messages”, which might slot well with audio from Tape Girl & Phone Guy from previous games. Hell, this might be like the Bendy audio logs, where we get more insight into the story that was not explicitly mentioned.

2: Light

Light seems to be a big element in Security Breach. We have to recharge our flashlight every so often, and we can also a camera flash to prevent Roxanne from chasing us. Of course, this also means that she could catch up to us if we aren’t quick enough. It also helps us locate animatronics like Chica when she is on the prowl.

3: Glamrock Freddy

As evident with the mechanic, and now confirmed, Gregory is able to hide in Glamrock Freddy to navigate around the animatronics undetected. Now of course, there are setbacks:

Showcased on the watch, Freddy will need to be on his charging station if the power runs low. As he runs out of power, we will be able to be more likely to get caught/jumpscared.

Glamrock Freddy is the only animatronic shown to not be under Vanny’s control. This fact, plus with the fact that he warns us to be quiet in case Vanny is close, suggests that Freddy will eventually be caught if he makes a wrong move or if Gregory makes too much noise.

4: Vanny / Vanessa

So, uh, I mentioned in a previous post over how Vanessa and Vanny are heavily implied to be the same person (check that out to see what I mean), so the following are just my thoughts.

Somehow, and heavy stress on “somehow, Gregory will be able to put two and two together and avoid the night-guard by hiding (actually, we can avoid getting caught by anyone by hiding, not just Vanessa, but pfft details) or just running off and avoiding her flashlight.

Of course, if Gregory doesn’t believe it, then he could just not trust her at first. When he does gain her trust it could be a revealed plot twist that she was simply in a “puppet” mind-stage; where she later reveals her more psychotic side. Her protective nature is simply a ploy to trick Gregroy, basically.

Vanny is able to have some kind of... effect on Gregory. If she ends up catching him then the screen becomes red, even in her jumpscare. While this could just be dramatic effect, it could also indicate that Vanny dazes him enough that she can, well, kill him.

Of course, the thing is this: Vanny’s eyes glowing in the dark is identical to the hunting animatronics, thereby confirming that yes, this is Glitchtrap saying “boo”. Oddly enough it fits with his deleted jumspcare from Help Wanted (click the link for gif) furthering the mind-control aspect. Also, maybe Gltichtrap can speak through Vanny? I don’t know, her voice glitches in the teasers and in Freddy and Friends episdoe 4 it sounds more like an animatronic.

Vanny also walks in a dance-like fashion to Glitchtrap, perhaps only running whenever she sees Gregory. (Maybe. Like a really strong maybe)

5: The animatronics

Monty is incredibly strong, pretty much confirmed, and is able to break things and possibly cause mass damage to Gregory, thereby allowing Vanny to kill him easier. (I mean, look at his breakroom. It’s like he had a psychotic attack, like he was struggling against Vanny’s control.)

Glamrock Chica is attacked (by Glamrock Freddy most likely) but still continues to hunt him. Even in their broken faze, Freddy’s attempts were out of vain, they only become more and more determined. Not only that but Glamrock Chica might hunt Gregory through a path from the “museum”, the staff-only back rooms, and eventually down to the trash zone... where she will be dumped, possibly by the trash-like animatronics (see below).

It’s also confirmed that Roxanne is fast, but I touched on this earlier and we really don’t need further explanation other than the screenshot below.

New Lore

So, uh, remember that Mangle-esque monster from Freddy and Friends episode 3? It’s Music Man. A giant, DJ spider that is Music Man. And honestly, I guess the reason makes a little more sense when you consider this: the pizzaplex is three stories complete with a giant race-course, golf course, and laser tag maze. It would make sense that Fazbear Entertainment makes a version of him that’s so... big. (Kind of reminds me of the Bendy hand from Chapter 5, actually. As well as poor carousal Bertram.)

Sunrise/Moondrop seems to be kind of like a werewolf. Of sorts. Whenever the lights turn off, he starts panicking and becomes Moondrop, who judging by the red eyes seem to cause him to, well, become under Vanny and Glitchtrap’s control (He even says “I warned you!”). Judging by this, he does have light sensors, and is possibly an emergency safety protocol that allows him to have an antivirus whenever the power’s on. So for Vanny to gain control over him, allowing Moondrop to be a bounty-hunter, of sorts, she drains the power.

And the thing is, we saw the two in a light-dark environment in the ball pit. We know that Moondrop won’t be permanent. The mechanic is, bizarrely, a very unique and interesting take on the power repair from FNAF 3, just edited to fit the “Security Breach” vibe.

Handunit / Announcer Unit / Tutorial Unit / Whatever Unit is once again, rather annoying, with his programming causing him to simply care about preventing liability risks and lawsuits, giving us very little help over how to get out of the building. By the sounds of it. He may be trying, actually, but still. His guidance might fall flat.

These are the animatronics seen in the Freddy and Friends Tour episode 1. The animatronics look... trashed. There are two options to it, but since the trailer also revealed an area of the game where trash-bags are stored/compacted on shelving, it can fair to say that these might might be the trash collectors. Most likely hacked by Vanny, it wouldn’t be too surprising. That or they can differentiate the main difference between trash and, well, people. That actually sounds a lot darker than I thought.

Or, they could be scrapped animatronic bases/endoskeletons that might have been used as prototypes for the others seen in the building (the “rejects” if you will). This is simply going off of the fact that their torso has the words “In Your Dreams”, but this, again, is only based off a series of words, nothing more. I’m not entirely certain.

Hello all! We’re extremely excited to finally announce Red Embrace: Paradisus.

Below are a few answers to anticipated questions. If you have a question that isn’t answered here, please send it to our Ask Box or ask on our Discord!

Will RE:P be similar to Red Embrace: Hollywood?

Yes and no! RE:P has some similarities to RE:H—namely its character creation, reputation system, and branching narrative. Of course, both games are set in the Red Embrace canon, with unique vampire lore and societies. You’ll also see a return of Sh00’s beautiful art, featured in both character portraits and CGs.

However, RE:P adds many new mechanics. Explore Las Vegas in isometric 3D, pursue quests, gain skills and experience, and roleplay your character however you please!

While RE:P and RE:H both share a personality system, Paradisus approaches character development differently. Instead of building your personality in-game through choices, you’ll select up to five core traits at the beginning. These traits will lock/unlock choices, make NPCs react to you differently, and create unique interactions! We feel this technique helps establish a character’s personality earlier, and allows for a wider dynamic range than the three sliding scales of RE:H.

Will there be combat?

No, RE:P is a purely narrative experience, without active combat systems.

However, if you have the skills for it, you can still crush your enemies when certain quest opportunities pop up…and there are many dangers lurking in the night.

Is there romance?

Yes! While RE:P has less of a romance focus than RE:H, there will still be optional love interests (male, female, and nonbinary). Content will be around an R-17 rating.

When will it be released?

We’re so glad you asked!

Unlike our previous games (where we released only a demo and a beta just before launch), RE:P will launch in Early Access.

An extremely early alpha version of the game, featuring about an hour’s worth of content, will be available for our Patrons around December 2021/January 2022. Once we’ve polished it up more, it’ll launch in EA on Steam (likely Spring/Summer 2022), where we’ll push incremental content releases until the game is fully complete.

The final release will likely be sometime in 2023, depending on player reception and the results of a potential Kickstarter.

Why early access? Red Embrace: Paradisus is an immersive sim that relies heavily on the player’s engagement/identification with the MC. It’s extremely important to us to hear early feedback on choices and character customization, as we want to incorporate as much player input as possible.

We also want to experiment with putting prototypes/alphas in front of players early. We’ve always kept our games rather clandestine until release, but this time, we’d like RE:P to involve the community more in its development.

** Please note that any provided dates are optimistic and not set in stone. We will do our best to hit these milestones, but delays are always possible.

What platforms will it be on?

Our current targets are Windows, Mac, and hopefully the Linux and the Nintendo Switch later on!

Will there be happy endings this time?!

For every comment asking for happy RE:H endings, we decided to make RE:P endings exponentially worse. You will be chained to eternal pits of suffering and despair regardless of your choices.

…Just kidding. Yes, there will be happy endings (even with LIs).

Brief Description (taken from the wiki): EverymanHYBRID began as an amateur fitness group that posted videos to YouTube in March 2010. The cast consisted of three college-aged guys from Central New Jersey named Vincent (Main Host), Evan (Dietary "Specialist"), and Jeff (Camera and Editing). ayo! (wait this might be a bit of a jumpscare dishdks i apologize) i’m op of That Post and was wondering what your opinions were on the whole woobification thing? /gen

because it’s a Tiny Bit widespread within the dream apologists to sort of,, overdramatize stuff like l’manberg hurting him. like they’re not a 100% wrong but if you look at it subjectively you can see some sort of bias going into that sort of thing that makes the character’s mistreatment a bit more blatant and intentional which,, it really wasn’t? and there wasn’t That Much of it either. especially on twitter (tumblr is much better about it) people just jump to conclusions it seems and yeah. since you brought it up i was wondering if you wanted to write a bit about it from your perspective!

we’re kinda from different corners of the fandom but i still notice that once you are too attached to a character you start taking certain evidence and giving it more weight than it actually has. there’s a blurry line between “taking away a character’s humanity” and woobification and it’s extremely difficult to find a balance when said character shows pretty much nothing of his emotional life (e. g. putting up the intimidating villain act in front of only c!tommy, pretty much everything he does making rational sense with no emotional subtext) and a lot of the fandom instantly jumps to one side or the other while it’s like.

we don’t know by far enough to say “he’s traumatized” or “he isn’t traumatized” or “he was villainized and it hurt him” or “l’manberg didn’t affect him at all”

as a very analytical person people constantly jumping to conclusions grinds my gears, but that’s about it for my own view of the situation - sorry for the rambling.

in general i agree with you that both dehumanization and woobification is Bad and i really hope getting Actual Context sorts this out (e. g. him saying he was betrayed by his friends doesn’t mean it wasn’t partially his fault or that they were allowed to leave him, but it also shows that he did care about that happening. mentioning the cat doesn’t mean anything about what happened to c!tommy but it also shows that he did care about what happened to it. it’s just always interesting to get more information about the way he feels because he usually does a very good job at hiding it.) because man.

it’s like being stuck between a rock and a hard place, especially if you also are attached to the character and are expected to automatically agree with everything the people on “your side” say. it just ends up with everyone being mad and the character being mischaracterised overall.

and yes i agree! you seem to have a lot of very good thoughts tbh.

and by woobification, i mean exactly what you’ve already pointed out— the people who will say l’manberg purposely villainized dream, the people who will say wilbur faked his mental illness to manipulate dream, the people who are pretty much always talking about how badly dream was treated by people who were acting only fairly for themselves, usually.

for example people who act like dream was a perfect peacemaker before tommy showed up, or that tommy started most conflict. these are just actual lies that are told by c!dream himself to justify his abuse of tommy, and people fall for them incredibly easily because not a lot of people watched early dsmp and know that truthfully it was chaotic even then, and that dream was chaotic too. not to mention wilbur soot tried very hard to secede peacefully with l’manberg and dream jumped directly into war with no warning. and then people say he was forced into their war when, no, he started it.

theres also people who will say like, dream and sapnap for example are such good friends. i’m sure they cared for each other, but dream on multiple occasions has done horrible things to sapnap with no regard for his feelings (like leading fundy to sapnaps pets during the petwar, leading tommy to sapnaps pets during the other petwar and encouraging him to kill them, handing mars over to tommy to use as leverage against sapnap, etc). george he’s been less awful too but he certainly spoke over him and ignored his feelings enough that george felt hurt. he had places in his hall of attachments for beckerson and mars. george and sapnap were right to walk away from being treated like that.

there’s also what you just said here — “dream puts on a villain persona for tommy”— but honestly he acts like that around quite a few people (example: eret) and it’s usually when he’s revealing crucial info, which leads me and many others to believe that ‘persona’ is actually a more truthful version of him.

there’s the fact that he really isn’t safe for people to be around (or at least he wasn't before the prison) because he was planning to come up with ways to control every single person by stealing and threatening their attachments (some of which were not items but were living animals, or a real breathing person).

and then people will say dream was doing exile to enforce rules, or to keep the peace— when it’s very clear in canon it was a deliberate plan to get tommy on his own and into the prison. (from the way he was framing tommy for multiple crimes, and having sam set up the prison, and kidnapping tommy instead of correctly exiling him, all at the same time).

not even going into how he wants to kill and revive people for fun or make tommy immortal.

it’s just— ignoring all these actual facts and saying “oh he misses his friends, let’s get him some friends now” reminds me of like. when people would put flower crowns on pictures of serial killers. and then, there’s hardly anyone on the server who wasn’t subject to dream’s plans, so there’s absolutely no one i would be okay with him interacting with.

just remembered about the torture thing, and wow i still hate it so much. it’s someone’s sick revenge fantasy twisted into a way to get a manipulative villain sympathy, and it’s just gross to me on every account. i do think dream is traumatized-- just not by l’manberg, which was a conflict he started on his own terms. i would think l’manberg did affect him, because he was scared of losing control.

i’ve said it before and i’ll say it again— my ideal ending for dream would be for him to be sent far away from dsmp to an island full of therapy animals and super strong therapists who have never met him before. and for him to get a shit ton of therapy until he becomes a halfway normal person. and then eventually he could get integrated into society again; but a different one with new people. (although maybe dteam + bbh + puffy can visit him, they might still like him.)

none of the people on the server (who have all been affected by dream) should be burdened with befriending him or rehabilitating him— look how that turned out with sam! sam had a personal grudge towards dream and it ended with the poor dude being tortured every day; and sam himself falling into corruption and literally cutting off his boyfriends arm. like we can all see thats fucking awful right?

no one who was affected by dream should have to deal with him ever again. and contrary to popular belief, that includes a LOT more people then just tommy. dream isn’t just tommy’s antagonist, hes almost everybody’s.

the only person on the server who might also be able to stand to help dream is techno, and that’s from sheer lack of ability to give a shit. but techno is probably THE furthest thing from a good therapist there is lol, and dream needs better then that.

this kind of just ended up being a rant about my thoughts on c!dream, so im so sorry op. especially since it was probably negative for you. i hope you’re doing very well.

i guess in the end it’s true what you said— people will highlight or ignore things based on what characters they like, and it’s especially easy to do in this fandom, where half the content doesn’t even get watched and then we become a big echo chamber of half-truths.

considering dream has hurt so many of the characters i care about, i almost can’t understand how he could be someone’s favorite or comfort character— but he is nonetheless, and it would be unfair of me to be rude about that.

essentially it just bothers me to see someone who was a perpetrator of accurately portrayed abuse and manipulation (using both those words in their actual definitions, not just as random buzzwords lol) being given the flower crown edit effect. especially since he’s hurt the characters i care about a lot.

ANYWAY all of that being said (this got LONG im so sorry op) i am so so excited to get dream’s pov, because although i disagree with his actions strongly i actually find dream’s character very interesting and cool, and watching his POV is going to insanely fun. i cannot wait to see what theories get confirmed or denied

Dawn Station - Pilot

Basic summary: Video game developer Jack Mcloughlin is finally releasing a new game after a ten year hiatus.

It comes as a shock to everyone, including you, when Jack Mcloughlin announces the release of a new game at the start of the second week of October.

There are several reasons why this is such a big deal. One: Jack Mcloughlin has been making games since he was twenty seven, and has released only five of them in the thirty years he's been doing it. Two: Jack Mcloughlin is world renowned for his fantastic horror games, all done in wildly different styles, but still notably his own. Three: Jack Mcloughlin has not, up til now, so much as mentioned working on a new game. The only social media site he's fully active on is Twitter - which you check regularly for any updates - and before the release of his last game, Ehrmann Lab, he had left a series of cryptic clues for two months leading up to the announcement. Those had been probably the most fun two months you'd ever had in your life, and even helped you make new friends. But this time around, there is no warning. The trailer is dropped at Purina Expo, one of the biggest American gaming conventions of the year. You were incredibly lucky to be able to snag tickets. Usually, this convention is where the hottest games that would be coming out the following year would be announced, trailers would be played, and developers would discuss - so everyone there on October 10th is shocked to not only be the first to see the trailer, but to hear from the man himself. Jack Mcloughlin takes the stage, gleefully announcing the release of Dawn Station on October 31st this year.

Now, the release of a new game from Septic Games - Mcloughlin's own software company, which he founded after his second game's release - is a big enough deal. But this… this is something else. Mcloughlin explains it before the reveal of the trailer, and you listen with great excitement.

"Dawn Station," says the man, practically bouncing across the stage with glee and shouting into his mic with a hoarse Irish accent. "is a feat of modern gaming. Now, I understand that when you play games, it can get boring to replay them later on after you've finished, because - well, you know how it goes! You know all the twists and turns, all the jumpscares, all the fights, all the spooks. But what if I told you that there was a way you could play where things were different each time?"

Behind the man, on a large screen, an image comes up. This is the first promo image for the new game to be shown to the people. The image is of a tilted hallway in what looks like a complex, broken down space station, overgrown with unusual plants that glow and spark. In the centre of the image is an astronaut. His helmet is on the floor, blood soaked. His face is half in shadow. All that can be seen is curly olive hair and neon green eyes - two on his face, and one embedded in his neck. The suit itself is torn, ripped open with a mouth and a dripping tongue where the being's stomach should be. A torch is on the ground behind him, attempting to cast light on the room. The words "Dawn Station" come up in solid, bright green font next to the being's face.

"This is Dawn Station!" cries the developer, over the many excited murmurs of the crowd. "The first ever virtual reality game with a fully developed artificial intelligence antagonist! An antagonist who learns from the players movements and choices, who grows and changes based off of what you do. You control the game, now more than ever! He's clever, he's learning, he knows where you are, and his objective is to kill the player - introducing... Alien X, otherwise known as… the Anti!"

Everyone cheers. Mcloughlin steps aside, a beam splitting his pale face, and allows the room to darken, and the trailer to play.

You're in awe. The trailer shows that you play as a character named Drew Oliver, an astronaut in their mid twenties who's aboard the Dawn Space Station, which has fallen to the planet you seemed to have been monitoring - the Othohiri 5RM. The game seems to revolve around attempting to explore the little bits of the planet that you can while repairing the ship and dealing with your descent into madness, all the while being chased down by the Alien X, a shapeshifting monstrosity who's eager to end your life before you can finish your goals. After watching it… well, everyone is absolutely blown away, especially you. This is unlike anything Mcloughlin had ever produced, especially to this scale. It's no wonder he hadn't produced a game in ten years if this was what he had been working on. You're practically vibrating with excitement at the breathtakingly beautiful scenery and realistic yet perfectly stylistic graphics, and the 8D sound design that seems to echo from all around you. It's incredible. The second you get back to your hotel room that night, you're one of the first to preorder the game.

Your week at the convention ends, and you go back home, counting down the days to the game's release. However, even more exciting things are happening. On Twitter, a few of your favourite youtubers are acting rather cryptic. KrisDoesGAMEZ and rrroadblock, two streamers you like, retweet Mcloughlin's announcement tweet with eye emojis and promises of the game being good. DUSSST, visualthursday and BroAverage make their own posts about it. PeachCheerio and TheSkinnerr upload short update videos promising exciting things to come.

On October 15th, it happens - ten youtubers each upload an early access demo of Dawn Station, having been chosen and given the code to play it by Mcloughlin himself. You don't watch the videos because you want to play the game yourself with no spoilers, but from what you've seen, it's fucking amazing. Critics are already calling it the game of the decade. The internet is thriving, and a few people have already cosplayed Drew, the main character. Your best friend uploads a joking cosplay of the Anti and walks around town with it on. He gets over a thousand likes and teases you about being too good for you now that he's internet famous. You're living for all of this.

On October 16th, youtuber PeachCheerio is murdered in his own home.

Everyone is shocked, rightfully. Here is a man who had streamed just the day before, chatting with his members and looking at Dawn Station memes on Twitch. Today, he was discovered by his girlfriend in his own home. Leaked police reports tell you that the man, whose real name was Ronald Murphy, had been messily dismembered, his organs removed, half of them missing. You're in shock. He was one of your favourite streamers, and maybe it's silly to mourn someone you've never met, but you're deeply, deeply saddened by the news.

However, it doesn't stop there. The very next day, youtuber DUSSST - or Louise Greendale - is found the same way Ronald had been. Louise's girlfriend apparently called the police in hysterics before panic tweeting about the incident. The posts were taken down an hour later. The screenshots of what she'd said trend of Twitter and Tumblr anyway.

This is when the conspiracy theories arrive. Two youtubers dead in two days, both brutally taken apart and missing organs? Some people mock the theorists for it. Who had even said Louise had been killed the same way as Ronald, anyway? That is, until more apparent police reports are leaked revealing the details of Louise's death. The internet goes wild. The Los Angeles police department posts a video begging whoever's causing the leaks to stop, to think about the families of the deceased. All this does is prove that they're true. This video, too, is later taken down.

You log off in disgust. Some people have no fucking shame.

Things heat up the next day, on October 18th, when user rrroadblock, or Aryan Jha, dies as well. The death is covered up for the first few hours afterwards, but eventually is leaked in the same manner as the last two murders. This time, the theorists are no longer labeled as crazy. In fact, everyone's getting in on this mystery now. Three popular youtubers dead now, each found in bloody states in their own homes, three days apart? No one knows what's happening, but that doesn't stop people from guessing. And while you refuse to involve yourself in any of this, you also find yourself wondering who or what - not what, of course it's not a what, that's just ridiculous - who is killing all of these people.

Day four. The internet is silent, waiting. And yes, sure enough, youtuber KrisDoesGAMEZ, or Kris Velvet, is dead.

This time, someone realizes something that makes everyone pause. Each of the dead youtubers are all the ones who were given the free demo of Dawn Station, and are even dying in the order that they played it in. Everyone goes insane. Even you're suspicious - of what, exactly, you don't know, because why would someone murder someone else so brutally over a video game? Despite that, this can't be a coincidence. People place bets on whether youtuber ducksontheroof, or Donna Campbell, is going to be the next one to be found dead. Donna herself makes a statement on her Instagram, expressing disgust at all the people who were spreading such information around. She then deactivated all her socials apart from her YouTube. The people who had been making bets were shamed, and you have to log off yet again. This is getting to be too much.

You stay offline until nearly four pm the next day. Your friend calls you up to give you the news, but you already know what they're going to say. Let me guess, you start, voice flat and tired. Donna Campbell's dead.

They confirm it. You don't know what to say.

Her family put out a statement asking people not to theorize about her death. People do it anyway. Reports state that the remaining five youtubers who had played Dawn Station, along with, surprisingly, Jack Mcloughlin himself, had been taken into police custody. For protection, you assume. Once again, the internet goes insane. This proves their theories about the game connecting all the deaths, and a silent dread and buzz of twisted excitement hangs over everyone. You're just disgusted. People are treating this like some kind of murder mystery game, like this isn't real, actual lives.

Two days pass without news. At the end of the second day, there's yet another leak. Youtubers Doomandgloom - Persephone Henry - and TheSkinnerr - Rodney Pratt - are dead. You're just numb. You're just so fucking numb.

This reveal, of course, inspires yet another debate. If the youtubers had been under police protection, how had they died? Had the police seen anything? Why hadn't the leak said anything about it? Who was killing all these people in so little time, how hadn't they been caught? Had, really, no one seen anything at all?

There are now three youtubers left who'd played the game. Hothothotstanley, or Stanley McIver, visualthursday, or Khia Herrera, and BroAverage, or Chase Brody. You met Stanley McIver, once, at a convention in London three years ago. You have a picture on your memory board of you standing in the convention hall, him with his arm around your shoulder, you with a grin and sparkle in your eye. You can see the picture from your bed. You turn away from it.

However, the next day is a surprise to everyone. A video is uploaded to someone's Twitter - a full, uncensored video of the murder of Stanley McIver inside the government safe house he and the others had seemingly been kept in. The video is immediately taken down and the Twitter deleted, but everyone has seen it. Including you. The video is… horrifying. Of course it is. Why did you watch it? But you do manage to see who it is that killed him. Everyone on the internet does. And this - this video, that's maybe five minutes long - is enough to make everyone go silent.

The killer looks exactly like the Anti from Dawn Station.

No one knows quite what to make of this.

Even less so when Jack Mcloughlin dies the next day.

He's murdered. Same way as all the rest of them, in police custody. Now this is enough to shock everyone into mourning silence. Only a few pricks are left, and their accounts, channels and blogs are swiftly deactivated. Nine deaths in nine days. Nine deaths. Nine. Jack Mcloughlin.

The next day, Khia Herrera - well, you know.

Chase Brody is the last one left alive. You never watched his channel that much - he's really into horror, and is known for his Walking Dead playthrough and his Undertale Genocide run - but you still already feel a strange sense of loss. A sort of emptiness. Something churns in your stomach that you don't understand. There's a lot that you don't understand.

The release of Dawn Station is cancelled.

You spend the night at a friend's house, and just bawl for hours. You shouldn't be so upset, you shouldn't! You never knew any of these people! But fuck, there's something about seeing all these people who you'd been watching online for so long, who have given you so many happy days, so many laughs and inside jokes… just die. How had this happened? Who was it who was doing this?

Your friend sadly suggests it's some sick Jack Mcloughlin hater who decided it'd be fun to cosplay as his newest character and kill people to scare everyone. But while you outwardly agree, you internally know it's not true. Because every time you watch that video, every time you watch Stanley die - and you watch it a lot, just trying to make yourself feel something, even if it's just sick - you can tell the person isn't human. You know that's ridiculous, of course. But there's something about its eyes. Its face. It glances up at the camera and makes eye contact, and grins with too many white, jagged teeth, like an anglerfish. The eye in its throat sees you too. It glows. You shudder every time, watching it shake with glitches and laughter.

You're scared. You feel sick and dizzy and you lock your doors out of fear. You stay inside and open Tumblr, Twitter and Instagram again.

Poor Chase Brody, says the internet. They're already mourning. Already accepted his death. Poor, poor Chase Brody.

You hope he's ok, wherever he is.
