One more bomb/shooter threat imma lose my damn MINDDDD

You guys, I gotta get something off my chest. I am livid, fucking seething. I HATE living in the states, like y’all have no idea.

I had the scare of my fucking life today. I got a message from my kid’s school saying they were going on lockdown due to a safety threat. Literally, the vaguest fucking statement. Like no details, no nothing. And I’m sure everyone knows the reality here, so my mind instantly goes to “elementary school + safety threat = active shooter” right? So I’m at work trying not to cry, literally having a panic attack, feeling absolutely helpless.

Luckily, my sister picked me up and we left straight to the school to get our kids. She called her ex because he has access to police radio and he told us that someone threatened to bomb the school through an anonymous phone call. Well, they traced the call and it turns out it was phony. Like someone was trying to be “funny” or edgy, idk. But I am so pissed. This is the best case scenario in situations like this and while I’m grateful that I’m not mourning my son and niece right now, the only thing on my mind is packing our shit and leaving to who knows where, as long as it’s not here. I’m still shaking. I hate it here.

we all go outside because it was disguised as a fire drill at first, then we go to the student parking lot because WE ARE FUCKING LEAVING

my sister almost leaves me here cuz she drove me to school, my mom tries calling me but my phone isn't receiving them for some reason,

and now we find out theyre planning RE ENTRY.

there was a bomb threat on my college today. thanks the Gods everyone is safe now, but they had to get the police to sweep the main building (as the caller said he had hid the bomb somewhere in there) and the campus was on lockdown for an hour. they didn't tell us anything but that we were on lockdown. fortunately, the police academy is like just up the street from campus so we had SO MANY officers on site within 10 minutes. once they let us leave, still not telling us what happened, no one could enter the main building and there was a 50ft taped off zone around the main building. i wasn't in the main building so i was able to leave at my normal time, but i'm pretty rattled.

i ended up dropping everything once i got home and lit the candles i have for the Theoi and just prayed as a thanks for keeping me safe and giving me the courage to help others in my class stay calm. i thanked Them for my life, which i felt way too close to losing (even tho i wasn't in the main building at the time of lockdown, I had been in the building just 10 minutes before the lockdown happened).

i cried a little bit at my altar because everyone who i've told just gets anxious and won't let me process what happened, and i needed someone to listen to me and also give me strength and courage and of course the Theoi filled all of those roles. i believe in the strength of the Theoi and i humbly thank them for calming down this distressed mess.

i especially thank Lady Aphrodite, Lord Ares, and Lord Dionysus for letting me feel the love of my community (especially my professors) and give my own compassion to those in my class, the courage to get through this situation and stay strong coming back on campus tomorrow, and the ability to escape the madness of my mind when it is important without just suppressing everything.

i think i'm going to plan a morning ritual for tomorrow morning before i leave for school. i literally just got some fresh herbs too so i have some ideas.

tl;dr there was a bomb at my school. i'm safe. the Theoi are so important to me.

love how the american reaction to bomb/shooting/other threats to schools is to share (trauma dump?) stories of their own schools being threatened. best case scenario, no one gets hurt and these kinda things just get added to the lore of strange school stories

Unity Offices Evacuated Over Death Threats After New Install Charge Policy

TL;DR: earlier today, Thursday, September 14th, Bloomberg reported that several Unity offices will be closed today and tomorrow due to “credible death threats.” Several Unity developers have commented on this on Twitter.

On Thursday, September 24th, Bloomberg reported that Unity had cancelled a town hall and would be closing two of its offices in the wake of “credible death threats”

Several employees have responded to the report, seemingly confirming it’s legitimacy, including Senior XR product designer Javier Busto and senior software engineer Eli C Davis.

(9/14, 11:46 PM EST) UPDATE: Polygon reached out to SFPD who said “officers responded to Unity’s San Francisco office “regarding a threats incident.” A “reporting party” told police that “an employee made a threat towards his employer using social media.” The employee that made the threat works in an office outside of California, according to the police statement.”

Me going into this weekend: Well, it's time for the local anime convention, the one that I've been preparing for since December and worked super hard so I'd have lots of mage plushies in the store I sell them at downtown, all ready for excited anime fans to buy them!

This weekend: Protesters gridlock downtown on Saturday (aka, the Busy Day, aka the Profitable Day) because they can't handle the concept of a drag queen doing story time for kids at the library, someone escalates this to a very effective bomb threat that's fortunately fake but still forces local shops to close and the reading to be cancelled for the sake of safety, it pours rain, and is the coldest weekend we've had all month to boot. All the shops and the downtown farmer's market that brought in extra stock and produce in preparation for what is traditionally a very profitable weekend for local businesses due to exploring convention members are left in the lurch.

A group of “online trolls” made fake bomb threats and swatting calls against more than two-dozen synagogues across the US in what the Anti-Defamation League called a sickening display of antisemitism Sunday.

The group targeted at least 26 synagogues and two ADL offices across 12 states over the last four weekends, according to the organization.

The ADL is working with law enforcement and other community members to prevent the “ongoing disruption to Jewish prayer services, as well as additional targets, by a group of online trolls who swat and call in fake bomb threats,” Jonathan Greenblatt, CEO and national director of the ADL, said in a statement Sunday.

The suspects appear to go after synagogues that livestream their services, the ADL said.
