Guys I just had the greatest headcanon EVER!!!
What if Cass and Rapunzel went to the Lost Lagoon before Cass had to leave as their last “adventure” together?

What’s something from the tangled novels that you like to think is canon?
Eugene is the one who introduced Rapunzel to the palace library. Although that was later made noncanonical in "Beginnings" it lives in my heart as the Truth™ rent free.

Of all the tts books, which one is your favorite?
I unfortunately haven't read any of the official tangled books! They're not really around in my country, I have read the comics and they're all great!
From the snippets I have seen floating around though, I'd guess 'Lost Lagoon' would be my fave if I read it just because I love all the fics that dive deep into Cass' inner monologue and I have a vivid recollection of reading a snipper here on tumblr of her reacting to being a Lady-In-Waiting and how upsetting it was and it was amazing!
I would love to read them eventually and once I do I'll be sure to post my opinion on them! In fact, I probably won't stop rambling knowing me xD
Thanks for the ask! Sorry I couldn't offer a better answer.

Have you read/heard of the TTS books?
I actually have heard of the TTS books; I've been with this show since before its premiere and got to experience the initial wave of merch that heralded the first and second season premieres.
As for reading them, I've admittedly only read a few: --- All the comic books (the ones by Katie Cook of MLP comic relative-fame are by far the best, in my opinion)
---'The Write Stuff' graphic novel because I saw pictures being shared on Tumblr and thought it looked cute. It's been a while since I read it, but I remember enjoying it for what it was: a fun, quick read.
---'The Lost Lagoon.' I think most of the fandom's read this one 😅 I liked it, even if I felt some crucial scenes were too rushed and/or sparse: the story was sweet, the characters in-character, and, well, my fic 'Memorable' wouldn't exist without it, so I'll always be fond of it.
I *have* 'The Vanishing Village,' but haven't read it yet; it's officially the end of somewhat-official TTS content for me, so I want to s a v o r it (but I WILL read it!). On that note, I also have the Tangled Twisted Tale book, but also have yet to start it (I want to finish the 'Frozen' one first).
That's kind of the extent of it; looking back I kind of wish I'd snapped up more of the TTS books while they were easy (and affordable!) to buy, but, well, I guess that's what Alibris is for, right?
How about you?

Have you read the other TTS books?
Yes and no!
I own Lost Lagoon, but I’ve only read about 20 pages or so. No real reason, just having a hard time sitting down with it. I don't have Vanishing Village, (and last I checked it was a little pricey?) but I'll probably end up grabbing it eventually!
TRoFR was particularly interesting to me because of the DK lore and Edmund's inclusion in the prologue, but I really do want to read/finish the others! Just b/c I love that they feature the series characters and provide more canon-adjacent material to chew on.
As far as books go, I also own the novelization of QfaD- I was curious how it'd frame the conflict and if there'd be any extra tidbits that didn't make it into the episode. Obviously it's aimed at younger readers, but it was a cute read! It was p straightforward and I don't remember too much that was noteworthy other than (iirc) Eugene and Cass being referred to as frenemies, and Quirin's descriptions affirming that he's a brickhouse of a man/Varian looks shrimpy next to him.
(I also recently ordered a copy of Rapunzel's Guide to All Things Brave, Creative, & Fun! As more time passes since the series ending, I feel a stronger desire to collect what little merch and spinoff media there is.)

You know a lot of your HCs are proofen wrong by comics and books of TTS.
In the lost lagoon, it's stated that the war between Saporia and Corona was only 200 years ago.
And in the comics it's clear that Gothel DID physically abuse Raps when she endangered her hair.
One, if Lost Lagoon is canon, Rapunzel is secretly married to Cassandra. Two, a whole lot of stuff happens in the comics that didn't happen in canon, such as Varian helping Eugene bake a cake for Rapunzel and freely walking around the castle unsupervised in season 1 and Rapunzel dealing with not just one Disciple of Zhan Tiri but two. So, I wouldn't consider them to be an actual resource for lore. As fun as "Baking Instinct" is, it never happened in canon. It's an AU. Tell me, if you think that the comics and books are canon, is Rapunzel having an affair with Eugene and cheating on Cassandra in canon? They aren't. I have only taken the stuff from those into account for one story, and that's "Indentured", with Cassandra lamenting the fact that Rapunzel thought the secret wedding ceremony was just another game. But, that's the only one that I've used them. And I highly doubt I will ever use any of the characters introduced in the books and comics that aren't in the series. As for Gothel, well, I think that if there was any physical abuse, she would be more skittish about being touched at all. A raised hand would make her flinch. She has trauma from her captivity, yes, but Gothel wouldn't lay a hand on her because if she gave Rapunzel the impression she was anything but loving, then Rapunzel could at any unsupervised moment cut her hair or use her hair to flee the tower, because she wouldn't want to risk staying with her abuser. Gothel left her alone far too often and far too long for her to risk doing anything but scary stories of the outside world to make her stay put. Gothel always portrayed herself as Rapunzel's only safe haven, that she would never hurt her, that she could trust her. Abusing her physically would destroy that illusion and Rapunzel would leave, no longer feeling safe. She only ever raised a hand to her when Rapunzel found out the truth of who she was and renounced Gothel as her mother, planning to leave, and that was just to chain her up. So, no. Lost Lagoon is not canon, and Gothel abusing Rapunzel physically is not canon. As for the war being 200 years ago, well...aside from Lost Lagoon, we never got an actual number, just "centuries". So, it could be 2, it could be 6, we don't really know for sure. Lost Lagoon, while it was published as an official work, is a Cassunzel fanfic written by someone who had nothing to do with the show and the book itself took place over an amount of time that disregarded a lot of stuff that took place in the series, and there's hardly any mention of the black rocks. It's not canon. I'm pretty sure I could mark what episode in the timeline events in the story are meant to take place, if I was so inclined to bother.
